We are so glad we worked with Joanna for our engagement and wedding photos! From our very first consult, she made us feel relaxed and comfortable. As two generally awkward and shy people, we were nervous, but Joanna was able to ease our tension and capture the two of us beautifully! Not only did Joanna take amazing photos of us and our people, but the way she captures detail and emotion has allowed us to re-experience all the love and joy we felt on our wedding day. We are so thankful for these memories, and are so grateful we got to work with Joanna! -

Joanna was AMAZING!!!
She did my and my (now) husbands engagement session and we were so obsessed we printed EVERY picture she took and framed a lot then made them into a scrapbook guestbook for everyone at our wedding to sign, including her!!!! It made it that much more special to us and we trust her and her amazing skills 10000000%! I’ve never been so happy with photos that I cried, the happiest of tears, when I looked over them! Now I can’t wait to see all the magic she did for our wedding! She’s worth a million more then her charges, seriously, hire her!!!! You will never regret it!!

A professional who is easy to work with
Simply put, Joanna was exceptional to work with. From the moment we connected with her regarding our engagement pictures until after we received the pictures from the wedding, she was first class! Her laid back personality made us comfortable as we were shooting, and she provided great direction to help us capture so many special moments around our big day. As we were planning for all of the different shots we needed on our wedding day, she showed incredible patience and was a true joy to work with. Anyone who hires her to shoot their wedding will not be disappointed -

We are so happy we went with Joanna for our wedding photography! Not only does Joanna create amazing photos, she is also so kind, fun to be around, and willing to do anything for her clients. We loved working with her for our engagement and wedding photos. At the start of our engagement shoot, we were pretty nervous, but Joanna had the best prompts and she instantly made us feel comfortable in front of the camera. At our wedding, we felt so comfortable and confident by having her there. She was professional, efficient, and organized. She captured so many beautiful candid moments of the day and also some beautifully-posed portraits. Joanna was incredible for our engagement photos and on our wedding day!! She and her assistant got all of the shots we wanted in a quick & timely manner. She was so great at calming me down when I was a little stressed about a timing issue. She got all of our family grouping photos done quickly & made my husband and I feel so comfortable during our couple photos. She also got all of the shots during the rest of the wedding I wanted! Joanna is not only a fantastic photographer but a wonderful person as well. I would absolutely recommend her to anyone looking for a fabulous photographer!!! -

I am so happy that we chose Joanna to help capture the memories of our big day. She was such a joy to work with throughout the whole process - so professional yet down to earth, and I've never felt more relaxed with a camera in my face! She takes more of a natural approach to her photography and I love that she seemed to capture some genuine moments rather than giving us all direction on how to "pose". She also did my bridal portraits, and I can honestly say I've never felt more beautiful than I did when I received the finished product. I am SO excited to see the pictures she captured of our big day - the sneak peeks I've seen so far are stunning! I absolutely cannot recommend her enough! -

Amazing experience
I found Joanna’s work with a simple “best wedding photographers chapel hill” Google search. I loved her style of artwork and her bio and immediately e-mailed her asking if she could meet up. Fast forward a year later and my husband and I recently received our final product from Joanna. THEY ARE AMAZING. Simply put, Joanna has a caring but fierce personality that ensures beautiful pictures are taken in a timely manner so that you can enjoy your special day. HIGHLY recommend. -

Joanna truly was the best ever on our big day! Her bright, positive energy kept us relaxed and smiling all day. She managed to capture so many sweet candid moments between my husband and I that we can't stop looking at. Plus her punctuality and directness helped our day go so smoothly. I work in the professional photography/video industry, so when it came time to choose a photographer for one of the biggest days of my life, I was very particular about who I chose. (I should also mention we only had a four month engagement and a Christmas weekend wedding, so I needed a photographer willing to bend over backwards for our day. I chose Joanna because she is very easy and fun to work with and she has a gorgeous portfolio. She was punctual, professional, and delivered beautiful photos. We didn’t want our entire wedding day dictated by photography. Instead, we wanted to focus on the once in a lifetime experience. We told Joanna that and she was able to take our wedding portraits very quickly and then beautifully document the rest of the day, as events unfolded. Her photos are timeless and thoughtful, capturing everything from my aunt’s happy tears to the groomsmen goofing around. You’ll be glad you hired Joanna to capture your wedding day. -

We are so happy that we chose Joanna Sue Photography for our wedding! Neither of us had been professionally photographed in years, but she made it so easy! She kept us laughing and it was a great mix of directing us and also capturing our personalities. There is also a great mix of artistic and traditional shots in both our engagement photos and our wedding photos. I absolutely love the color and style of the photos, it really fit well with our moody/industrial venue and the beautiful fall day we had. This really was one of our best wedding decisions we made! -

Everything You Could Ask For
Joanna was a fantastic asset through our entire engagement, wedding planning, and wedding day events. She consistently went out of her way, even traveling through Hurricane weather from North Carolina to Philadelphia, to make our day special. She, along with her partner, not only took the time to heed our requests for portraits and our desire to actually be present for our wedding day activities, but also captured the little moments throughout the day/night that mean so much to us. Joanna was knowledgeable of wedding standards, consistently responsive, and fantastic at calming any anxieties that presented themselves. We could not recommend her more! -

Besides having impeccable style and taste in her work, she is so diligent and professional on the day of that she could probably double as a wedding coordinator! I really cant say enough nice things about her - she is a slam dunk in my book and you will be so happy to have her, on your big day, documenting one of the most important moments of your life.

Ashley Sent on 08/17/2017I looked through countless photography portfolios, and Joanna’s stood out to me the most. My sister is an artist, so I asked her to look at a few top contenders just to be sure, and Joanna was the clear winner. Not only is her photography beautiful, but she has a unique gift of capturing the emotion of the day. Our engagement session was so much fun! We went back to the place where we had our first date. Joanna even asked the restaurant where we have had anniversary dates if we could use their patio to take pictures, and those are some of our favorites. We ended up having our rehearsal dinner there and displaying a canvas print of one of those pictures. Joanna was a rock star on our wedding day! She was professional, personable, and incredibly efficient. She took so many gorgeous detail shots while we were getting ready, and she was unobtrusive during the ceremony and still captured it beautifully. The family and wedding party portraits were done quickly and still looked amazing. We only had an hour for pictures after the wedding ceremony, but she made it feel like plenty of time. We have so many gorgeous bride and groom portraits in multiple locations. She captured so many little moments that I missed with her candid pictures, and she even organized our send-off at the end of the day. On top of all that, she’s the kind of person you would want as your friend. I’d highly recommend her to anyone, and we’ll definitely use her for any future photography needs. -

Joanna shot our wedding in Durham, NC last October and we absolutely loved working with her. A few of our favorite things about Joanna: 1) She made us feel super comfortable in front of the camera, starting with our engagement photos (we had never done professional photos before and were nervous about looking awkward/stiff). The photos came out looking natural, fun and loving. 2) She has a great eye - she sees potential in spaces / shots to make the photos magazine-worthy. 3) I was especially impressed with how she captured light and detail in our photos. A lot of wedding photographers overly wash out their photos, but not Joanna. You can see every detail of lace on my wedding dress in my photos, which (a photographer friend told me) is the mark of a pro. 4) She is affordable and reliable. Really, she's the best! Highly, highly recommended. -

After HOURS of searching online, reading every review and looking at every photo I knew I needed to have Joanna as our photographer. Not only does she work within an AMAZING price range, but I just love her style of work. Both our engagement session and our wedding photos came out so beautiful.. She sent us about 800 photos from the wedding and I can't find a flaw in any of them! (she even managed to capture perfect pictures of our crazy dogs!!)
She was great at being honest and helping me rework my day of timeline to create the most efficient photo-op's which I really appreciated. She did exactly what I asked for and what we had discussed prior to the wedding day, but I do wish that I had come prepared and preplanned a more extensive list of what photo's I wanted and where I wanted them. I would suggest to take the time to get to know your venue before hand and do research on where YOU would like to be photographed and let her know ahead of time! This also includes some of the getting ready photos; Joanna captured amazing candids, but I wish I had been more specific with getting more posed shots. -
