I am so happy that we worked with Jennifer Laura Design on our wedding. Jennifer was so thorough with all details to ensure the rehearsal and wedding day went just as planned. Her team accommodated special needs and requests with grace and ease! Jennifer also did all of the floral design for the wedding - everything was beyond gorgeous. She installed custom pieces at our ceremony and reception sites, and the tables, bouquets and all flowers in between were beautiful. I can't recommend Jennifer Laura Design more!!! -

Always there!
Jennifer and her husband were fantastic to work with. We hired her for our wedding coordination the day of and she really took care of everything. I handed her boxes of decor and let her work her magic. The space turned out absolutely beautiful. She kept track of everything we needed, gathered all our decor items and belongings at the end of the night, and even packed our car for us! They were always there when we needed them but also very much behind the scenes. They were accommodating with all my changes before and even a few during the day of. I was really impressed when we got home at the end of the night how everything was taken care of for us. Super easy to work with! I highly recommend Jennifer to anyone! -

I am more than happy that we hired JLD for our day of wedding coordination. Jennifer was very detail oriented, organized, and truly cares about making sure everything is perfect. Jennifer is an amazing wedding planner and an awesome person! Absolutely loved her work, she gave my husband and I a dream wedding. Her ideas were exactly what I had envisioned. I absolutely loved working with Jennifer for our wedding! She's definitely a wedding/event planner that loves what she does and she has really great ideas. We gave her an idea of what our ideal wedding scene looked like, and she came back with a design that truly matched our vision. She was very professional and responsive. After one year of planning, we had our dream wedding, and I have to give major kudos to Jennifer for being amazing at her craft. She definitely worked with us and was patient while guiding us through everything that needed to be done to make our day perfect. I would highly recommend Jennifer Laura Design! -

I fell in love with Jennifer the day I met her! She is an amazing wedding planner. She really pays attention to what you are looking for and then makes it happen. She is happy to do as much or as little as you want and need. I had an absolutely perfect wedding thanks to Jennifer and her husband Kris who helped out on the wedding day. Kris was really awesome too! He was all over the place taking care of a hundred different things on the wedding day. With the two of them taking care of everything I didn't have to worry about one thing! I definitely, definitely recommend Jennifer and Kris Harrup with Jennifer Laura Design!!! -

She is pleasant to work with, totally gets your vision and then pulls it off while remaining calm and cool under immense pressure to bring all the tiniest details to life. She really brought to life my daughter and her now husband's dream wedding. And then to add to this, I got married a month prior and at the last minute she pulled together a beautiful wedding cake, flowers, vases and candles AND delivered them the day of wedding setting up the room to be perfect! She is simply amazing! -

Jennifer Laura is AMAZING! I came in with a vision for how I wanted our wedding day, and she took that and ran with it. It could not have been a more perfect day. Each element of our wedding was spot on with my vision, and then some. Also, she made the planning process fun and easy and was able to keep my mind at ease throughout. She is very cool, calm and collected at all times. She was very professional but at the same time she felt like a friend. She definitely has a talent and I highly recommend her!!!!! -

My wife and I made a last minute decision to hire Jennifer just weeks prior to the wedding. We have insane work schedules; my wife cares for your people in their homes, some with disabilities. I work for the fire department and have a 12 hour rotating schedule.
We'd gotten so far as to pay for a venue and lock down an officiant. My spouse and I couldn't seem to get time enough together to be productive.
Jennifer Laura Design was my last ditch effort to provide an amazing day for my then fiancé. In just a couple short weeks JLD had our wedding planned.
She made making payments, virtually painless, minus watching your money disappear. JLD was organized and short of everything she needed for our inspiration...kept the decision making to a minimum and very UN-stressful.
I recommend Jennifer and her husband to ANYONE!!!!! I cannot recommend them highly enough. Jennifer's husband kept me calm, cool & collected the entire evening. Jennifer kept the evening on schedule, they made sure we had food & accomplished everything we wanted to.
AMAZING job! Best decision I made in the entire wedding planning process! -

Words cannot express how amazing Jennifer was throughout the entire wedding planning process. At first, I resisted the idea of a wedding planner (I'm not great at delegating), but when I met Jennifer I realized that she was exactly what we needed. She has such a clear vision and can put even our weird, half-cooked ideas ("could it be, like, sort of herbal-ish?") into a clear plan of action. Her design skills are amazing - I watched her turn a bare-bones lodge into the most gorgeous lakeside cabin you can imagine.
She's also a MACHINE. She and her husband Kris worked their BUTTS off making our wedding day amazing; they were unstoppable forces of heavy lifting and beautifying during the weekend of the wedding. I am in awe of their stamina and speed!
But I think the best part about finding Jennifer is that I feel like I've found a friend. And the really good kind of friend, too; the type of friend who will kindly tell you when you need to stop procrastinating and just make a decision already and the kind of friend who knows to make decisions for you when you're too overwhelmed with life-stress to think. She's kind, compassionate, easy-going and friendly (my entire family fell in love with her and I think they want to adopt her) but she also knows when to draw a line in the sand and protect her clients' vision and wishes. I'm waiting for the day that she starts offering Life Coach services, because I'm going to be her first client! -

I contracted Jennifer of JLD for 'day-of' wedding coordination for my wedding. She (and her hubby) did a fantastic job!
Leading up to the big day Jennifer was very responsive to, and professional in regard to, all my emails and questions I had. She made sure to meet with me a couple of times prior to the wedding to go through details and iron out any kinks in the plans and made me feel like everything was under control.
She also lead and coordinated our rehearsal which was priceless seeing as we had a lot of folks ‘in’ the wedding, and she was able to streamline and instruct everyone as I had wanted.
The day of the wedding, from my point of view, went without a hitch. Having said that, I’m sure there were things that happened behind the scenes that Jenn and Kris had to take care of on the fly and make executive decisions to keep the day moving to plan and most importantly- I didn’t know about any of the hiccups!
I would recommend Jenn to anyone needing someone with knowledge of the wedding industry, knowledge of Houston and someone who can help make your day stress free and easy breezy. Again, Jenn was so great and we couldn’t have done it without her!

As the Mother of the Bride for this event, I couldn't have been more pleased with how the whole planning process and most importantly the Wedding day went. When my daughter and I first met with Jennifer, we had a good idea of what we wanted, but were at a loss on how to pull it all together.
Jennifer and Kris were wonderful to work with. Jennifer's recommendations on florists and other vendors helped tremendously and she did a great job of bringing my daughter's dream wedding to life!
We have had so many rave reviews from friends and family for the event. With Jennifer's help we were able to throw a spectacular wedding and party and have a wonderful time ourselves, because EVERYTHING else was being handled.
Would highly recommend JLD for any bride ( and or Mother of the Bride ) looking for design help, ideas and expertise and making sure the important day goes as planned! -

When I first decided to hire a planner I found Jennifer's website through a Google search. I knew that I wanted to work with her when I saw her Pinterest boards and they were very similar to mine. She is not into the traditional Houston weddings that you see every weekend, and this was very important to me. We first hired Jennifer to help out with finding a venue because we were both too busy with work to get much done. She spent a lot of time looking for places with us and gave some very good suggestions and wasn't afraid of our out of the box vision.
We had a lot of family drama that she was able to help with, even though my parents didnt really understand what her job was until the day of the wedding. I kept having to say "that Jennifer's job" which meant "dont worry about it, Jennifer has it under control", and she did.
I wasn't too worried about many things before the wedding because I knew she would and could take care of everything. I knew about some design elements but I was surprised by a lot too! On the day of the wedding I did not have to lift a finger. I sat up in the hotel with my friends and family and didn't have to worry one bit about food, decorations or guests. The ceremony and reception went very smoothly.
The best compliment I got was that my wedding was very me. This meant that Jennifer truly understood me and knew how to portray that in her design. She took care of my family and my husband's family during the reception and even had a few surprises for us back at the hotel.
Jennifer was very quick to respond to texts, calls and emails. She was also flexible with meeting with us and very understanding.
I have attended two weddings since my own wedding where many guests and even the bride were working on the wedding day to make sure things were done. I am SO very happy that we decided to get a planner so that none of our guests had to work and they were able to just enjoy the day. -

If Jennifer did not help me out, I would not have had a wedding. I know this for a fact. While trying to plan my wedding--I got a big promotion at work, my husband lived in New York, I lived in Dallas and the wedding was in Houston, we were also trying to sell our Dallas home. I needed help. Jennifer went above and beyond. She has an interior design background, and is a perfectionist, so everything was so beautiful.
Some of the highlights:
+ She presented me with a detailed power point with ideas on everything from table décor to aisle décor. There were 2-3 options for everything, and all I had to do was choose what I liked. Then she made it happen
+ She talked directly to my mother. Enough said.
+ She met with the florist, the linens people, my bridesmaids in Houston--- so I didn’t have to make a special trip to Houston for every decision
+From the Desert table, to the chalkboard menu, the guest book--- she made it all from scratch--- and it all looked so good!
+She directed the day of quietly and calmly--- no one even knew she was there, but everything went very smoothly
Jennifer will be the best decision you make on your wedding day. I literally just showed up to my wedding, and she made it all happen.

Jennifer and Kris were amazing from the moment I met them until after my wedding! They are attentive and listen to details very closely. I had many ideas and they brought them to life better than I could have imagined. Jennifer has an eye for decoration and design for the ceremony and reception venues. I could call or email her at any time and she has a great way of calming a nervous bride and taking care of whatever is needed. Jennifer took care of EVERYTHING at the reception venue on the day of the wedding while I got ready at my church. She picked up wine/beer, met ALL vendors at the reception that morning, decorated, delivered flowers to the wedding party at the church, packed our overnight bags into the car, cleaned up after we left, packed the extra wine and vases/lanterns we used for centerpieces and made a delivery to my mom the week after the wedding for things we left behind. We were greeted with a fruit/cheese platter and drink of choice in the bridal suite before the grand entrance. I recommend Jennifer Laura Design services to anyone wanting a flawless event... Jennifer helped my now wife and I plan our wedding to the T. She did an amazing job with selecting vendors, and centerpieces. She took our style and theme and made it a perfect night that my wife and I will never forget. Jennifer is practically family now. We wouldn't change anything! -

I was not at all happy with her service. The day of the event she was no where to be found on several occasions. The MC had to make an announcement to get her attention. I asked her to ship my bouquet, and she told me she didn\'t feel comfortable with that task...what a headache. -

An honest review: Please read before you book!
Being an out of town bride, a wedding planner was an absolute must. I spent hours on the phone trying to find a wedding planner--balancing both services and budget. While Jennifer seemed like a good option at the time, I quickly began to regret my decision. Right away I noticed that she was always late to appointments, did not meet deadlines, and worst of all did not listen to what I wanted. I hired her for both design and coordination, and her first take on the design presentation was not only significantly shorter than the example she had sent me, but she presented in her words "a bohemian style" when I had specifically asked for "southern elegance". She did redo the presentation, but this was the first of some major communication issues that I continued to see throughout the process. The issues with planning were frustrating, but honestly would not be that big of a deal if the wedding day service would have been executed more professionally.
One of my biggest hang-ups with Jennifer is her lack of humility and being able to take responsibility for her mistakes--especially when they impact such a big day in people's lives. Here are some of the major things that happened day of (leaving out other things for brevity):
-Florals and timeline: I specifically chose a florist that works in the same office as Jennifer, because I thought that communication between them would be good and lead to a great design--but boy was I wrong. Day of, Jennifer had not communicated the schedule to the florist to ensure that certain installments were ready for us to take pictures with--which resulted in putting us behind schedule for photos. Furthermore, she worked with the florist on certain installments such as the seating chart and did not have the foresight to inquire about dimensions so the print outs she had ended up being way too large for the fl-oral rings they were put in.
-Photos: Communication here was an issue before the wedding. The photographer had asked for someone to help coordinate family members/friends during portraits and while Jennifer did respond in an email saying this: "we have never been asked to assist a photographer before, before the ceremony we are all hands on deck getting set up, but if you needed my assistant during the cocktail hour I can certainly add that to my notes if you don't have an assistant/second shooter. " leaving it open for interpretation and never following up with the photographer. While I do very much think that it was the photographer's fault for not having help/resources in place, better communication by Jennifer could have potentially prevented the situation. What most frustrated me about this though, is that during portraits when help was needed--not only was her assistant standing by us while the situation unfolded, not doing anything to help (aka obviously not all hands on deck)--when Jennifer did finally come help she was rude to me and my husband in front of our friends and family, blamed the photographer, and instead of trying to help, told the photographer it was their problem and left. Even if it was their fault, I would hope that a wedding planner could work with all types of people and help solve a crisis on a wedding day rather than just walking away.
-Clean-up: One of Jennifer's biggest selling points for us was that she would take care of all of the items after the wedding and deliver them at our convenience later. Unfortunately this did not happen, many items were missing, and my mom had to stay until 2am trying to clean up because Jennifer did not do her job.
Again, these are only a few of the many problems we experienced with Jennifer others involving poor communication with the cake designer, photobooth vendor, etc. What it all boils down to is that she has some issues communicating with other vendors/clients, will not take fault or apologize for her mistakes. So if you are considering booking her, double/triple check everything and make sure all of the vendors are on the same page-- I thought that I did, but unfortunately the coordination at the wedding caused a lot of problems for a wedding day that you will never get back. -
