Nick was professional, personable, and extremely easy to work with. He came prepared with a clear vision for our poses and backdrops, resulting in wedding portraits that looked like they came out of a fairytale. During the ceremony, Nick circulated constantly to capture all the best angles and he even recorded a video of the entire ceremony so we wouldn’t miss a moment.
The quality, lighting, and editing of Nick’s photos are truly impeccable. His enthusiasm, helpfulness, and diligence in his work made him an absolute delight to have at our wedding ceremony. We Highly recommend JB Elliott Photography after having had the pleasure of working with the team (Nick and Ken) for our Wedding ceremony and reception this past June 2025. From finding JB Elliott Photography after reading a number of reviews and post regarding black owned photography companies in the DMV area to reviewing the company’s website and portfolio and submitting our inquiry the process and ease of working with Nick and team was seamless. We appreciate the initial intake call to see if his services would be a good fit and after that the signing of the contract was underway. Nick provided my wife and I with an online document that really helped up envision the day of the wedding and how we wanted the day to flow when it came to taking the photos. We had an additional call the week prior to the wedding day to ensure the order of events was set so that the day could go as seamless as possible from the photography angle. From the getting ready photos, flat lays, and first look to the ceremony, family portraits, cocktail hour, reception and departure photos, Nick and Ken really told a story through the lens over the span of 10 hours. My wife and I looked at the photos and aside from the phenomenal quality, the scenes and moments captured really brought us back to that very special day! Being able to relive that day was something of great importance to my wife and I and JB Elliott Photography did a great job of executing that goal. The company even surprised us a video and audio of the ceremony portion and we really appreciated that as we did not a have a videographer. Nick and team went above and beyond with their professionalism, flexibility, and ability to make everyone feel comfortable and like themselves in front of the camera lens. JB Elliott Photography, Nick, did an outstanding job on our wedding and engagement photos! Choosing a wedding photographer can be quite daunting but if you're looking for classic, true to color photos that will never go out of style, Nick is your man! Neither my husband nor I are natural posers but Nick made us feel so comfortable and talked us through everything, where to look, where to position our hands, etc. He was incredibly flexible, we had to change our wedding plans a few times due to COVID and he was always up for whatever the new location ended up being. Before the wedding, I got on a Zoom meeting with him to talk through and finalize the timeline for our wedding day - his communication was great! When we received both our wedding and engagement photos, they were organized by event/location which made it very easy to navigate. Selecting the photos for this review was incredibly difficult because I'm in love with all of them! I would 100000000% recommend JB Elliott Photography for your wedding and engagement photos!!!JB Elliott Photography's reply:

He is so calm and smooth and I got a lot of information from our initial meeting so I booked him for our engagement session as well as our wedding and the results were fantastic! I certainly looked at some of his photos in advance and when we got ours, I was so tickled that mine looked so good, so crisp, and so professional-not that it surprised me, but I was just so impressed and so happy that these were the pictures I could look at forever and remember my special day. He took formal pictures, pictures of my dress and jewelry, funny pics while everyone was getting ready, and action shots as well as still shots. It was great that he was working with another person so we could get pictures of the ladies getting ready as well as the guys (which happened simultaneously) as well as shots from different angles at the same time. The pictures in the hotel came out great, the pictures in the church are awesome, the pictures at the Franciscan Monastery look lovely, and you can tell everyone had fun at our reception! Words cannot express how AMAZING Nick was!!! We were VERY pleased with both our engagement photos and our wedding photos. Nick and his team truly captured the essence of our day. You can just see the love in our eyes and the excitement in the eyes of our family and friends. Not to mention, the quality of the pictures were amazing too!!! Nick is excellent!!!
I am so grateful and thankful for the excellent photography my husband and I received from Nick from JB Elliott Photography. Nick was creative, patient, fun, strategic, helpful, diligent, and he is definitely an expert in photography. Everyone loves my photos and I cannot wait to blow up our pictures and place them around our home. Capturing wedding memories are so important therefore the investment is worth it. I have no regrets. An All-Star Photographer!
As I was searching high and low on instagram for a photographer to capture our wedding, I noticed Nick’s page and was completely captivated by his work (bonus that he previously shot a wedding at our venue!). My now husband and I decided to go with Nick because of his personal approach and attention to detail. We loved that he immediately took interest in us as a couple and ensured we were all comfortable by including an engagement shoot with our package. I am naturally detailed-oriented so I liked filling out the questionnaires Nick provided to ensure that he understood our vision and what we would like captured. He is organized, professional, and extremely personable. Specifically, during our engagement session, it was an extremely humid day in the middle of July and I was not feeling well walking around in the heat. Nick went out of his way to ensure there were many moments where I could rest and take breaks. He also went the extra mile to walk around the Wharf (our engagement shoot location) to find a store and bring me back a bottle of water while my husband sat to wait with me for Nick to return. Nick was able to work around the heat and our photos still came out AMAZING. 10 out of 10 service! My husband and I absolutely love the beautiful moments Nick captured between our engagement and wedding. He captures portraits and “off-guard”/“action” shots very well. We loved that Nick and the second photographer were able to gather many unplanned photos of our family, friends, and the many details throughout our wedding. The event's main photographer, Nick, was extraordinarily helpful and professional to work with, and quickly responded to my inquiry. I really wanted a shot of a creme brûlée being torched, and his assistant did an amazing job of capturing the moment. The photos he and his assistant took were phenomenal! Top Notch Service
JB Elliott Photography was excellent from beginning to end . He capture our engagement shoot and the location he suggests was beautiful. Before the wedding he sent an detailed email about items that we might want to have photographed i.e. invitation perfume . That was an great reminder for me . The questionnaire he sends you captures all of the bride and groom history . JB E P delivered all photos in a timely fashion . My wife and I appreciate the attention to detail provided by JB Elliott Photography. Nick met with us a couple of times before our wedding, he really wanted to understand our personality and get our expectations of what we wanted to capture, he did not disappoint. Excellent Experience!!
JB Elliot Photography was one of the best decisions I made for my wedding. We met Nick when we did our engagement session and we were in LOVE!! instantly with the way the photos turned out. It had previously rained the night before but the way he strategically positioned my husband and I no one would the wiser or that the photos were taken at 32 degrees. He was prompt and very detailed he capture the smallest details that we wanted he walked us through the entire process with his tips and tricks to make sure the day went off without a hitch. He wore many hats for Alex and I that we did not want for anything. Nick is dedicated to his client he exhibits patience and understanding from the moment the contract was established he was available for us until the very end. We Loved It!
Nick is an amazing photographer! Our wedding photos painted the perfect picture of our big day. I had chills going through my body as I looked through our wedding album. He didn’t miss anything! The phrase “A picture is worth a thousand words” has a new meaning thanks to him. Nick was also very kind and patient with us. He immediately recognized how camera shy my husband was, made him feel comfortable and relaxed all while coaching him through different poses. He captured the most perfect shots of our most touching and intimate moments. Nick is by far one of the most professional and talented wedding photographers I’ve ever met. There is not a single photo he took that we disliked. He was the best decision we made for our wedding. We have photos that we’ll treasure for the rest of our lives. All around we felt he was very laid back and flexible, but also professional. He was on-time and ready to go for all of our meetings and the wedding itself. We also felt they did a good job capturing intimate moments without being intrusive, while they were ever-present we felt relax and comfortable- again because the team was so laid back. We provided a photo 'must take' list and felt we had all of those photos taken. We were impressed by the quality of the finished product. You will be in good hands with JB Elliott photography. -

Nick was very professional, understanding of our needs, and responsive to our asks! During our consultation, Nick listened carefully and provided excellent recommendations so that the day-of wedding photography experience and final products were exactly what we were hoping for! Nick edited the photos so quickly that we had access to download digital files and order prints just one week after our ceremony! In addition to photos, Nick recorded a video of the ceremony (with a lapel mic hidden in the groom's suit for excellent audio) so we could share the moment with loved ones who could not attend. Our engagement photos by JB Elliott Photography turned out so vibrant and beautiful. Honestly, we cannot choose a favorite photo from the very, very many we received. The wide selection of edited images we received was very generous, and consistently flattering (aka we looked good!). On the day of our shoot, Nick arrived early and had endless ideas for poses. It was very easy to trust Nick behind the camera. The level of individualized attention really exceeded our expectations and made us feel even more special. Nick is Exceptional
We were connected to Nick through "Pop the Knot." He included a very thoughtful questionnaire in advance to help him be prepared. He showed up early, was very patient, and took the most remarkable images in his short window with us. Despite a fear of heights, he made no complaints about our rooftop wedding and was willing to push himself out of his comfort zone to get some really beautiful images. Afterwards, we received the highest quality images back in a very quick turnaround. We are grateful for his capturing of our special day. -

Nick, is an amazing photographer. He captured every moment of our special day from the releasing of our doves, jumping the broom, and dancing the night away at our reception. He made the process effortless. My husband and I have taken awhile to order canvas prints for our home and when ordering we realized we needed the photos to be high resolution to ensure the photos would look nice on the canvas. I contacted Nick and he sent me a link to the high resolution photos immediately. I got married in 2018 and contacted Nick two years later! Nick was recommended to us by a family member that was extremely impressed with his work. So impressed, that she gifted us with paying for the first hour of his services. It was worth every penny!! Lt Sent on 12/20/2017We hired Nick as our photographer for our traditional Ghanaian Engagement and White Wedding. Actually he captured some beautiful pictures for our engagement photo session (which was in freezing December weather !) as well as our 2 special days. Nick is patient and flexible. He is extremely responsive to emails, text messages, and calls.
We were glad he also brought a second shooter to help at the reception. There were times when we had to adjust on the fly, but overall, our experience with Nick was good and we LOVED the pictures he produced. He really listened when it came to the style, look, and feel of how we wanted the images. We shopped around quite a bit before choosing Nick. You would be hard pressed to get better value for your money in the DMV.
