  Captured Our Day

  Janelle photographed our wedding on 7/15/22 and we could not consider ourselves luckier to have had her there to capture our day. Janelle put us so at ease that it made it easy to have her there helping us navigate the day. She was calm, professional, and kind. She pulled authentic smiles and laughs out of us during an activity (having our photo taken) that often makes us feel awkward and stilted. Before even seeing a single photo, I would have been able to write Janelle's glowing review - that's how confident I felt that she had captured us in her photos.
  
  When we first spoke to Janelle by phone, she told us that her goal is to capture authentic moments throughout the day. Looking at our photos almost three months later brings us back to that day every time. The first comment almost everyone has made upon seeing our photos has been, "Wow. You can truly see how happy you were". Janelle captured our day so earnestly and joyfully. We are so grateful she was a part of our day!

  This Thanksgiving, a primary recipient of my gratitude is the talented Janelle. If you are on the hunt for a wedding photographer, look no further, your answer is Janelle. If you need more substantial reasoning to back up this statement: I'll carry on.   
  
  There are a number of things to take into consideration before you decide on your wedding day photographer match.  You need to understand just how close this person will be to you on your wedding day.  If they are on task, they will be there for each of your most intimate moments - capturing a close look at each emotion of the day.  This said, you should be comfortable with this person. From the moment Janelle arrived with a smile, she brought a happy & calming energy to the room. She was a friend among the group, effortlessly moving around without causing anyone a second thought.  While nervously trying to articulate a last minute change to my hair, she was standing next to me with a bit more clarity to her words and offering assurance that was completely unnecessary given her tasks at hand, yet so appreciated in the moment. She somehow was able to get smiles and confidence out of my mother who has been running from camera lenses for 3+ decades now.  She had my father posing as easily as a  20 year old on Snapchat. Grandmas, in-laws, groomsmen who never shed a smile - everyone was completely naturally at ease with Janelle.
  
  Janelle's role on our wedding day was appreciated for far more reasons than personalities that clicked.  A wedding photographer's role will trickle past simply snapping pictures. You will be looking to them for guidance, instructions & time management. Janelle was heaven sent on our wedding day.  She was incredibly professional, experienced and the type of person you want to put your trust in for such an important day.  Some people out there may hire a Wedding Planner, I did not and most of my friends have not. I relied on my bridal party & my own personal planning to keep the day on track.  Of course, no wedding day schedule ends up perfect.  We ran late, had the entire bridal party break down on a bus about 30 minutes from the venue, 5 minutes before the ceremony was set to start. Janelle was working against time with the pictures she had to get done per my wish list. She had 8 bridesmaids, 9 groomsmen, 3 set of parents, 3 locations to coordinate and probably 40 minutes cut out of her schedule.  And yet somehow, she made it work & got it done.  She corralled the crazy group of people (no easy feat) and everyone happily listened & followed instruction (at least I choose to believe they did.)  
  
  Once past the uphill battle of herding the group of people who are constantly in conversation, with cocktails in hand, to get you what you asked for:  the reception begins.  By this point, you are going to be far too wrapped up in your amazing day to realize you still have things to get done. Cake cutting?  Time for parent dances? Janelle prompted everything we had on the schedule. The photographer has an allotted amount of time that they will be with you on your wedding day - so you don't want any surprises when you turn around and no longer see them.  Janelle was very clear in communicating with me when needed, ensuring that I was aware of the time remaining available for any photos that I wanted. 
  
  In an effort to not make this review a novel, I will end by saying the final product was delivered timely and were better than we could have imagined. We are so in love with the final product and that sentiment has been shared with me by anyone who has seen our photos. I would hire her again in a heartbeat as her talent is clear and her dream of a personality is the added bonus.

  Janelle is a daydream

  I could talk all day about how wonderful and lovely Janelle is to work with. Janelle has a calm easy-going personality. She also has zero ego which just adds to her charm considering how talented she is. She’s a pure artist. She was great to work with, from being game to take engagement photos at the zoo to being flexible when all the plans and timeline went out the window once the monsoon hit.   Janelle is the best

  I can’t say enough good things about Janelle! She is the best, sweetest photographer and we couldn’t have asked for anyone better to capture our wedding. If you want someone that will make you feel comfortable and like you’ve known them for years, Janelle is most definitely that person. She directed our wedding party around for portraits with ease and everyone was so impressed with how organized it was. We got so many compliments that day of how detailed and great she was to work with by the venue and other vendors. When planning our wedding, finding a good photographer was so important to me and we definitely made the right decision by going with Janelle. Our pictures came out better than we could have imagined and we will truly cherish them for a lifetime. They were so perfect, one made it on the cover of our venue brochure! We cant thank Janelle enough!!

  I am thrilled that I hired Janelle Carmela for my wedding. I had seen (and adored) her website before speaking with her, but she was upfront with me that weddings were new to her. Because of this, she offered me a very reasonable rate.
  
  Throughout the planning process, Janelle checked in with me frequently with ideas, questions and general excitement. Perhaps she was thinking of me because I was stalking her photos on social media, but I felt like she was a close friend cheering me on as the wedding got close.
  
  On the day of the wedding, Janelle and her assistant arrived early. She used this time to visit my reception venue to take pictures of my centerpieces, cake and decor. She then joined us and documented us getting ready. We ran a little behind schedule, but Janelle was patient and quite fun to spend time with. As a recent bride herself, she made me feel relaxed about the crazy day we were having.
  
  While I didn’t notice her during the ceremony, Janelle was well organized to manage our group's time well for posed photos. The creative ideas she had for photos of our wedding party were AMAZING.
  
  The day after the wedding, Janelle posted two "sneak peak" photos online, and I was overwhelmed. Both photos completely exceeded my expectations. These weren't just good photos, they were something I would expect to see inside a magazine. She managed to capture every single detail in such a unique way. From the poses she created to the angles she captured us from, I don't think I could have asked for more.
  
  I would love to include some small criticism to give my review credibility, but my only regret is that I truly feel that I underpaid Janelle for our photos. If my wedding wasn't across the county from where I live, I would have already booked Janelle for our Christmas photos.
  
  I certainly don't anticipate getting married again, but I wouldn't consider hiring anyone else if I did.

  Beyond perfect!

  Janelle was recommended to me by a friend who was blown away with her work at a wedding she attended. Because of this amazing review, I reached out to her and when we spoke on the phone, I knew she would be the perfect photographer for our wedding. She was spunky, energetic, sweet, professional, and clearly knew her stuff. When we met her in person at the first time, we instantly felt relaxed with her. She never made us do anything we were not comfortable with and she was able to capture the most amazing and unique shots at our engagement session and on our wedding day. She shot every smile, laugh, tear, hug, and kiss, and we are forever grateful for the amazing photos we now have to cherish all of the love that surrounded us that day! In additional to Janelle being the most amazing wedding photographer, she also is an incredibly loving person who goes above and beyond for her couples. Words cannot describe how appreciative I was when I panicked three months before my summer wedding about my hair and makeup artist and Janelle took the time to send over recommendations for me.   Janelle is just the best!

  From the first telephone conversation, I knew that Janelle understood me. She is not only hilarious, but is truly a great photographer who captures everyone in their best light. I can't even begin to describe how impressed and grateful I was and am for the photographs she took on our wedding day. She is a blast, super easy to work with, and honestly felt more like a friend at the wedding than a photographer (which, in my opinion, is a GREAT thing). No sense of intrusiveness or pressure to take certain pictures, for example, and let us enjoy our day, which is something that had concerned friends of mine at their weddings (with a different photographer, obviously). I cannot recommend her enough to anyone else who is looking for a photographer, whether for your wedding or any other event. She is truly the best.

  What can I say…Janelle is the best of the best. Aside from knowing Janelle on a personal level, I would recommend her talents to anyone looking for a professional photographer. Her beauty shines thru not only in her work but her devotion to her clients start to finish. Her ease, grace and humor make you completely confident and comfortable. My husband and I have only seen a few of our wedding photos so far and we are so in love with how the beauty of our day was captured. Not to mention, when Janelle worked with us for our engagement photos it was so fun, not awkward and we felt our personalities were 100% brought to life.   Janelle was referred to us by a friend, and I couldn't be happier they connected us! We had such a great experience using Janelle for our wedding. Not only are her pictures beautiful, but there couldn't be a nicer person to work with. My husband was a little camera shy- and she was so flexible and accommodating and made sure we got beautiful shots while making the process as painless for him as possible. I can't say enough nice things about the quality of her work, or the experience you will have working with her. She even helped me get my bridal suite unlocked in a pinch after it accidentally got locked. :) You won't be disappointed if you choose Janelle to capture your big day! Can't wait for the opportunity to work with her again.

  Janelle is the absolute BEST! She did our engagement photos and wedding and both were amazing experiences and photos. First, the experience. Janelle was always really responsive and prompt, a total professional. She was flexible with our engagement shoot and beared with me when I wanted to reschedule last minute because of weather. Leading up to the wedding, we talked about what photos we did and didn't want, and on the wedding day, I didn't have to think about it at all, because she was organized and made sure we were getting all our must-have shots. All the posed photos could potentially feel awkward (I've never kissed Tony so much on command, infront of another person!), but Janelle is so friendly, personable and sweet, that we never felt awkward (and when something was potentially awkward, we laughed about it together). You spend SO much time with your photographer on your wedding day, that liking them as a person and feeling comfortable around them is so important, and I can't imagine anyone not loving hanging out with Janelle. During the ceremony and reception, honestly, we forgot Janelle was there! But looking at the pictures, she was not only there, but she was capturing all our emotions beautifully!! She was just so good at staying out of the way and was completely unobtrusive so we could just soak it all in. In terms of the pictures, those speak for themselves. They were so beautiful and captured all the details and people at our wedding so well. All of our friends and family have commented on how great the pictures are, and we couldn't be happier with them. Janelle is truly the best and I couldn't recommend her more!

Janelle was always really responsive and prompt, a total professional. She was flexible with our engagement shoot and beared with me when I wanted to reschedule last minute because of weather. Leading up to the wedding, we talked about what photos we did and didn't want, and on the wedding day, I didn't have to think about it at all, because she was organized and made sure we were getting all our must-have shots. All the posed photos could potentially feel awkward (I've never kissed Tony so much on command, infront of another person!), but Janelle is so friendly, personable and sweet, that we never felt awkward (and when something was potentially awkward, we laughed about it together). You spend SO much time with your photographer on your wedding day, that liking them as a person and feeling comfortable around them is so important, and I can't imagine anyone not loving hanging out with Janelle. During the ceremony and reception, honestly, we forgot Janelle was there! But looking at the pictures, she was not only there, but she was capturing all our emotions beautifully!! She was just so good at staying out of the way and was completely unobtrusive so we could just soak it all in. In terms of the pictures, those speak for themselves. They were so beautiful and captured all the details and people at our wedding so well. All of our friends and family have commented on how great the pictures are, and we couldn't be happier with them. Janelle is truly the best and I couldn't recommend her more!

She was so kind and friendly, I felt like I had known her for years! As the wedding was getting closer, she helped me make sure that everything was in order so the day would go smoothly! Our day was amazing, all that we ever imagined it could be, even with rain starting minutes before our planned outdoor ceremony. Janelle quickly got set up inside and was able to capture beautiful pictures of our special moment! I absolutely love our pictures and cannot stop looking at them! We couldn’t even narrow down our favorites when ordering canvases and prints because she captured every picture perfectly. Following the wedding she still kept in touch by sending holiday cards or even just some enlarged prints for no reason at all. I would highly recommend her for your special day!

  I am thrilled that I hired Janelle Carmela for my wedding. I had seen (and adored) her website before speaking with her, but she was upfront with me that weddings were new to her. Because of this, she offered me a very reasonable rate.
  
  Throughout the planning process, Janelle checked in with me frequently with ideas, questions and general excitement. Perhaps she was thinking of me because I was stalking her photos on social media, but I felt like she was a close friend cheering me on as the wedding got close.
  
  On the day of the wedding, Janelle and her assistant arrived early. She used this time to visit my reception venue to take pictures of my centerpieces, cake and decor. She then joined us and documented us getting ready. We ran a little behind schedule, but Janelle was patient and quite fun to spend time with. As a recent bride herself, she made me feel relaxed about the crazy day we were having.
  
  While I didn’t notice her during the ceremony, Janelle was well organized to manage our group's time well for posed photos. The creative ideas she had for photos of our wedding party were AMAZING.
  
  The day after the wedding, Janelle posted two "sneak peak" photos online, and I was overwhelmed. Both photos completely exceeded my expectations. These weren't just good photos, they were something I would expect to see inside a magazine. She managed to capture every single detail in such a unique way. From the poses she created to the angles she captured us from, I don't think I could have asked for more.
  
  I would love to include some small criticism to give my review credibility, but my only regret is that I truly feel that I underpaid Janelle for our photos. If my wedding wasn't across the county from where I live, I would have already booked Janelle for our Christmas photos.
  
  I certainly don't anticipate getting married again, but I wouldn't consider hiring anyone else if I did.
