James was an absolute pleasure to work with. At our engagement shoot, he made my wife and I feel totally comfortable and really impressed us with his creativity and passion for getting unique and memorable shots. He was diligent and responsive at answering all of our questions leading up to our wedding, and on our big day he really came through for us. We got through planned family and wedding party shots efficiently, and we’ve been thrilled with all the finished pictures he sent us. Would definitely recommend! -

We were completely taken aback when we saw our engagement shoot photos with James, and his ability to capture light and pops of color in a way that reflected the vibrance and joy we were feeling at that moment. Our wedding photos, as expected, reflected our venue spectacularly and I love how James' style of shooting allows us to relive every moment.
His ability to make you feel at ease just further enhances the photos of you as well as the candids captured of your friends and family at the wedding. We added the rehearsal dinner to our photo asks of James, and we are so happy that we did. We have incredible photos that show the joy we were all feeling the night before and James seamlessly delivered on the photos we wanted despite the late ask. -

James did a phenomenal job as our wedding photographer. In addition to his work being of the highest caliber, James is a top-tier human. He naturally blended into our wedding, capturing beautiful shots without ever feeling intrusive to the day’s events. He generously drove to Boston for an engagement shoot ahead of the big day, and by the time the wedding came around, James felt as much a guest as he did a hired vendor. Right after we interviewed James months ahead of our wedding, we knew we could trust him to perform one of the most important parts of a wedding.
His photographic output lives up to the realism that he strives for. We wanted to avoid hiring a photographer that relied heavily on overly-staged circus shots or washed out lighting. James was just what we hoped for - he captured our day in a way that was grounded, and showed the genuine and human beauty of the event in a way that feels true to life. He so perfectly balances getting incredible photos while also allowing the wedding couple to experience all parts of their event. We couldn’t be happier that we chose James to shoot our wedding. -

Perfectly captured the most important day of our lives
James was absolutely awesome to work with. There is a lot of pressure on both the couple and the photographer when it comes to your wedding photos - you want to pick a photographer who you feel comfortable with and who understands your style, and they want to make sure you have beautiful photos of your wedding day. James did exactly that: he was easy to be around, bringing a very welcome calm presence to the day, and our photos are absolutely gorgeous. James really delivered in capturing our style during our engagement photo shoot as well. It was the first time we had taken formal photos as a couple and it could have been really easy for us to clam up in front of the camera, but after just a few minutes of being with James he felt more like a friend and was very easy to be around. From detail shots to landscapes to photos of the two of us and our loved ones, James captured the essence of our wedding day. He was also really transparent with us in every conversation, which is a really important quality in your vendor partners. If you want beautiful wedding photos from a photographer who blends into your event and is very easy to talk to, we highly recommend booking James! -

We would definitely recommend James as a photographer! James did a great job communicating and he was very responsive. He did our engagement photos and wedding photos. They all turned out great! He was professional and easy to work with. We were able to get all of the shots we wanted and we loved James’ candid photography style. The photos were truly reflective of how great the day was. -

You should REALLY book James!
We had to cancel our destination wedding three times and finally decided to have a micro wedding with immediate family. We had 3 weeks to plan the entire thing and we knew photography was a big priority since most guests could not attend.
We were so lucky to find James! He had weddings Thursday, Friday, and Saturday but was still willing to drive over an hour to photograph our wedding on Sunday! He even hiked up a mountain with us to take individual pictures.
James made us feel comfortable and really helped us enjoy the day even with rain in the morning and so many other potential stressors. He captured all of the happiness of the day and caught all of those special moments that can be forgotten because even small weddings are whirlwind events!
He also photographed my brother-in-laws wedding and both sets of photos are SO beautiful!
I cannot emphasize enough how wonderful James is. You should book him now!
P.S. He even photographed us with our pets! -

James is the absolute best photographer out there, hands down. You will never find a more kind, professional, talented guy to trust with collecting all the precious moments from your wedding day. In fact, we loved James so much from the moment we met him for our engagement shoot in 2019 that we booked him for our COVID micro-wedding in 2020 and obviously had him back with gusto for our 7/24/21 bash! He documented each of these three events with such faithful commitment that my husband and I will be sharing these photos with friends and loved ones for years and years to come. His documentary style ensures that you're really going to remember how you felt, what you were wearing, who was there, and the overall wonder it was to just BE at your own wedding. Plus, the way he edits photos is just magic. He not only gets the best shots, the ones you really want, but he makes sure that each and every photo could be blown up and hung on the wall and look like a masterpiece. My husband and I could not have chosen a more perfect photographer for all our special days. Thank you, James, for everything!! -

I cannot recommend James more highly! Our wedding day was truly perfect, and honestly James played such major a role in making that a reality. His energy was everything you could want and more from a wedding photographer. He put everyone at ease and that level of comfort shown thru in every photo. His creativity was evident too throughout the process-- from our pre-wedding discussions to his decisions day-of on when/ where/ and what angles to shoot. Despite getting married on a very busy day at the Portland Head Light, you'd have guessed from every photo that we were the only two people in the world. The photos themselves were beyond my wildest imagination. They are simply stunning and truly timeless; and now, my absolute greatest treasure. His gift is priceless, and I only hope I have an opportunity to work with him again in the future! -

Great person & awesome photographer!
James was an absolute pleasure to work with throughout our engagement and wedding in September 2019. He is professional, and clearly very passionate about his work and his business, but also very laid back and calm, which helped keep us chill throughout the wedding planning process. And perhaps most importantly, his photos are absolutely beautiful! James was very communicative leading up to the wedding, and provided his expert recommendations when we asked for it, but also let us dictate things and emphasize what was important to us. He shot beautiful engagement photos for us last winter, so we knew that having James around for our wedding photos would be another wonderful experience, which it was! During the big day, James wrangled our large and loud families for portraits, knew just how to adjust photos to embrace the rain that showed up that day, and otherwise captured beautiful, candid, authentic pictures. He got us a sneak peak fast (while we were on our honeymoon) and the photos came out absolutely GORGEOUS. We've looked at them so many times over the past year and he completely captured the essence of our amazing day through his wonderful pics. We couldn't recommend James more. Even as two people who don't love getting their picture taken, James put us at ease right away during our engagement shoot and wedding. He was incredibly easy to work with, had fun ideas throughout the day and most importantly, the pictures turned out incredible. We had high expectations after seeing James' previous work, and he was somehow able to exceed those. Stop your search because you found the right person! -

Fun-Loving Professionals!
James was fantastic! He made us feel so comfortable leading up to, and on the day of the wedding by just being really laid back, professional, and easy to work with. And our pictures - WOW!! I have so much to say but I will start by saying that James is so friendly, professional, and easy to work with. From the day we first inquired about his work to the delivery of the final gallery, James made one huge part of the wedding planning process that much easier on us.
Throughout these conversations, James heard us and ensured we knew what to expect. He was also always so compassionate about the crazy process of planning a wedding which I really appreciated. It is also worth mentioning that my partner and I are not necessarily "camera people" but James did not ever make us feel awkward and never imposed himself on the day of the wedding. In fact, he worked so quickly and seamlessly to get every family portrait we wanted and showed the magic of the day so beautifully with his talent and hard work. When we snuck out of the reception to do portraits here are things I noticed: 1) how at ease I felt and how much fun my partner and I were having in front of the camera, 2) that James worked so well with our coordinator and did the most to capture the most magnificent photos, and 3) that he is just such a kind and compassionate person who understood that we wanted to maximize the time we spent celebrating. I am still blown away by the magic that James created in his photos for our special day and will cherish them forever! -

James' documentary style photography was exactly what we were looking for on our wedding day. He helped capture the truly authentic moments of the day and the uniqueness of our venue. James was easy to work with and blended right into the day. He accommodated any needs. We had highlight photos back almost immediately and the rest came back in the promised timeline. We have really enjoyed looking through all the memories of our beautiful wedding day! -
