When you know, you know! From our very first call, I knew in my gut that Kimie was our photographer — and I was so right! Our engagement shoot was wild: we both got stung by bees, it was hot, humid, and raining — but Kimie kept us positive and laughing the entire time. Even better, the photos turned out absolutely stunning — you’d never guess what a chaotic day it was!
Kimie was such a blessing to have on our wedding day. She and her second shooter went above and beyond to capture the moments that mattered most to us. Beyond being incredibly talented, Kimie made me, my husband, and our families feel so comfortable in front of the camera.

Having the best photographer we could find was the biggest need for our wedding. With us putting so much love, time and effort into making our wedding day the best it could be, we knew we had to invest in someone who could not only see it, but capture it perfectly. Kimie sees what the untrained eye does not and brings it to life in her work. Each picture she takes is a pure work of art and we were truly blown away by her on our wedding day. As someone who usually runs away from the camera and has no idea what to do in front of them (except for being goofy!), Kimie directed us all in a way that was soft and encouraging, but also direct to keep us moving. She made sure she captured each shot we requested, and the impromptu shots were so precious. Thus far we have our sneak peek, and I cry with joy each time I look at them. I feel the love and joy in each picture. Kimie is a rare gem. Not only is she amazing at what she does, she is also one of the nicest human beings I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting. Her joy and enthusiasm is infectious- I cannot recommend her enough. -

Omg you have to hire Kimie.
From the first time I saw Kimie’s work I knew she had to be my photographer for my wedding day!!
She nailed the look Keisha and I were going for. She made sure we got all the pictures we wanted.
She is so personable and makes you feel like a runway model. Did you see our pictures!?!?!!!! They are flawless. Every shot is amazing and captures our wedding day in the very best way. -

An absolute joy to work with!!
Kimie is truly the best! As a camera shy bride she made me feel beautiful and at ease. We had a small wedding and she did an amazing job of capturing the love, joy, and close relationships that we had with our guests. We used Kimmie for our wedding turned microwedding this past June (thank you corona) We were initially on the fence about wedding videography. However, having already been familiar with with her work due to my own research, I was further convinced when wedding planner also recommended her. I'm glad we took the plunge and she was very flexible and easy to work with and her videography turned out just as beautiful as her photography. I would highly recommend her and her team if you are looking for videography. -

We feel blessed that we found Kimie at a wedding show. After meeting her we didn’t look for any other photographer. We didn’t need to. Neither my partner or I enjoy having our picture taken, but we knew we would want our magical day captured. Kimie had great wedding advice in general to offer us and when it comes to photography she exceeded our expectations. We felt entirely comfortable with her from day one. We were going to skip an engagement shoot but Kimie said it would give us all a chance to get familiar with working together and she was right. It also got us really excited for the big day. She says all the right things to help you relax, moves quickly and will find the perfect moments to capture. She made us look great but captured all the emotions of the big day!!! She was an absolute professional, knows the business and is a blast to be around. We adore her, as a great student person and a photographer. Every photographer she brought on to help was a delight to work with as well. Hands down, the best — and everyone who sees our wedding photos says it too! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ -

Kimie was the most amazing photographer we could have hired for our day. Everyone felt comfortable with Kimie, especially those of us who are unused to being in front of the camera. She is wonderful to work with, has an amazing energy, and we could not have asked for a better experience. The photos both for our engagement shoot and for our wedding were spectacular. We had trouble choosing favorites to print because they were all so gorgeous. -

Kimie was phenomenal to work with. We had planned our wedding in under a month and were lucky enough to have her as our photographer through Waters Edge RVA. She made me feel gorgeous and comfortable in my own skin. The photos she took were magical and captured the sweetest moments with our closest friends and family. I never could have imagined them any more beautiful. She went above and beyond to ensure we had flattering yet romantic memories to look back on. My entire family couldn’t stop raving about how she made everyone feel included by capturing candids of them. She also helped make my husband and I feel so comfortable in front of the camera. There wasn’t a single moment she missed out on. She had previews available for us the next day, and gosh were they beautiful. We’re so incredibly grateful for having her capture our most precious day! We couldn’t recommend her enough! -

Kimie is an absolute dream to work with. She made my husband and I feel so relaxed and comfortable in front of the camera, and gave us perfect guidance so that our photos turned out amazing!
Not only was her photography incredible, but she was also fun to hang out with on our wedding day! You spend your entire wedding day with your photographer so it's really important that it's someone that you enjoy being around on the most important day of your life.
Kimie captured such special moments. Moments that I didn't even notice during the wedding, like my best friend wiping happy tears from my daughter's eyes and the expression on my mother-in-laws face after we were married.
Kimie was also VERY quick to get photos to us. The day after our wedding she sent me a handful of photos that I used to share the news of our marriage on social media. It was really nice to have professional photos to share. It was followed by a preview gallery and our full wedding gallery just a few weeks after our wedding.
I can't say enough wonderful things about Kimie. She is a wedding photography goddess! -

Shana Sent on 07/24/2018Kimmie James was amazing! My husband planned a surprise wedding ceremony for me since we were married originally in a Justice of the Peace ceremony 9 years ago. Imagine my surprise when my blindfold was removed and I am staring at Kimmie taking pictures of me, then see the entire wedding party standing at the altar as my husband runs up the aisle! Kimmie managed to capture every magical part of that evening...including the shock and awe on my face as I realized what was happening. I can't come close to describing how much her beautiful photos bring that moment back every time I see the photos she took...many when we weren't even aware she was there! She captured my husband and I, as well as our family, in the intimate moments where we were celebrating and sharing our love. If you want beautiful photos of any live event, Kimmie is the person you call!

She got every shot we could think of and we never felt like she was hindering what we were doing while we enjoyed our wedding day. She was incredibly responsive and helpful pre-wedding and on the day of. I did not ever get around to filling out the "shots wanted" list, and she still managed to get every shot. Looking back over the last 4 years since our wedding, I am still in love with so many of her photos, the gorgeous shots she got, and especially now, getting to see my late grandmother's smiling face as she embraced my mom on my wedding day. There were photos that she captured that I'm fairly certain she was hanging from the rafters to get. I never once felt that she was pressed for time. The whole day with her felt relaxed, like I had an old friend close by to document the whole day. I have and will continue to recommend Kimie to everyone I know getting married, or even those that want life shoots like maternity, engagement, family photos, and even doggie portraits. You'll kick yourself later if you don't book Kimie for your next event. -

Mia Sent on 08/07/2015Finding IYQ was music to our ears. My husband and I like most couples on a budget were looking for great quality at a price that would not leave us hurting. Weddings can be very expensive however capturing the moments to me are the most important part!!
Our wedding was in NY. Kimmie commuted from Virgina to NY the day before and found all the picture perfect locations. She was soooo friendly and professional to us and our family. I can truley say I am a picky detail oriented person and I feel like every moment of our special day was captured from beginning to end and all the special caught off guard moments in between.
Our requests were listened to and I appreciate that so much. We asked to have a lot of bride and groom candids even if we had to literally be pulled away. And that's just what was done. At a moment during the reception we snuck away and took so many beautiful mushy moments as husband and wife!!
Ok I feel like I'm running on and on but she's honestly that great!!
Finally the pictures themselves. We were given sneak peaks via social network (we were asked for approval befor doing so). We received our pictures within a few weeks!! We have been married 2 and a half years and we are still recieving compliments on our gorgeous pictures!!!

I looked at her website and Instagram and fell in LOVE with her work. Not to mention, prior to me finding her, I'd seen her work in a local wedding magazine and loved some shots she had in the magazine, but couldn't remember her name when it was time for me to book a photog! Low and behold, when I looked at her website, I saw the pictures that I loved from the bridal magazine and KNEW I wanted to meet with her. My fiance (now husband) felt like it was a sign LOL. I emailed her and she called me immediately to schedule a time for us to meet up. We met up and hit it off IMMEDIATELY....almost like we were friends before I knew we were friends! Kimie is so engaging, she's professional, her attitude is great and her communication is on par. But her photography skills and eye for detail, in my opinion...unmatched! She'd done our engagement photos and we fell in love and couldn't wait for the wedding. Kimie has already sent us our preview collection and we couldn't be happier with those shots. Just makes us that more eager to receive our full collection. Kimie is the BEST. Without question!! We will use her anytime we need a photographer. We were so excited to work with Kimie after seeing her work on Instagram and being referred to her by our wedding planner. She is super sweet and down to earth, and when we had our initial meeting I felt like I'd known her forever, she was that easy to talk to. For someone who has only been focusing on video for a few years (she started with just photography) Kimie is incredibly skilled. She captured all the special moments and made us look like superstars in our own movie (which, let's be honest, is what we all want lol). And what really made us Kimie's #1 fans was that she stayed through the entire reception even though she was only booked until about 8:30pm. She was able to catch the best of the dance party and our exit, which I was originally bummed about not getting video of but was such a nice surprise. We are in love with our videos and watch them over and over again, and every night our baby girls are like "Mommy! Video!" . Book Kimie! -

I used Kimie as a videographer. My wedding video looks like something from a movie. It's so romantic and she captured our love beautifully. He pricing is great. The only thing I wish was more seamless was the communication and timing of getting the details of the video together (song choice, questionnaire) and there was a wait to get my video to me. She did make things right by adding full ceremony and speeches. All and all I am happy. I would still recommend Kimie because her talent is worth it. I promise you will not regret allowing her to capture your wedding. She is also well regarded in Richmond wedding scene.
