Pre-Wedding Welcome Reception - Myer's Park

We contacted Kim of Ithaca Bakery several months prior to our pre-wedding welcome event for initial discussions, presenting our ideas as well as sought suggestions. From the outset, Kim was exceptional - she was aware that an offsite - park setting had its challenges, and given our menu suggestions, meant creative chef work along with special logistical support. I could not have asked for a more professional, supportive partner for our event - we were on the phone a dozen times; we met personally to cover final details (she even visited Myers Park and took photos for us!!) we even worked out last minute issues such as decorating picnic tables; mason jar flower arrangements; and a dozen other fine details. The food - and we are foodies - was one of the best Taco Bar (Mexican but with creative sauces and balanced with vegetarian salads ) - This was quality restaurant level offerings - I can only note the repeat lineup from our over 100 guests as proof of the quality. Our guests were coming up to comment about the impressive menu! To sum up, our event was an outstanding success (fyi: Ithaca also baked the wedding cake - also outstanding). Kim worked with us through all the steps; was available whenever we needed to chat; offered professional advice; and personally managed the event (she was on site with us from late afternoon until our event concluded late in the evening). This level of service was truly exceptional and I can highly recommend Ithaca Catering - their food - service - and guidance - If Michelin would give off-site catering stars - Ithaca Catering deserves several!

Delicious and stunning cake!

We absolutely loved our cake from Ithaca Bakery! It looked stunning and more importantly, tasted amazing!! We went with a golden layer cake with lemon buttercream frosting and raspberry jam filling and it was definitely a crowd pleaser! They made our unique vision come to life and it was so easy coordinating with Carley, the bakery manager. The pricing was reasonable and we had the cake delivered, which is recommended for a 3-tier cake, but made the process so easy for us. They even coordinated directly with the venue and changed the delivery time last minute to make sure it arrived on time.

Great, affordable food, amazing staff

Ithaca Bakery was a great find for our DIY barn wedding. They supplied food (with chefs and serving staff), bartender, linens, plates, and silverware - and it was all incredibly affordable. Our catering manager, Shannon, was amazing - so accommodating and responsive. Our guests loved the food, as much as we did!

Beautiful cupcakes and cake!

I've been going to the Ithaca Bakery my entire life so I knew they had to be a part of the special day. I hired them to make two kinds of cupcakes and a cake for my wedding in October. Months prior to the wedding they were so accommodating with answering all my questions and updating the menu several times. When it came to the wedding, everything went smoothly. There were no issues and everything tasted amazing! I'm so glad I was able to book them and it meant so much to be able to share this special place with all my loved ones. Definitely would 100% recommend booking them for your wedding!

Ithaca Bakery is so much more than just your catering company! If you’re lucky enough to work with Niki, your wedding planning will be a breeze. She is super friendly and knowledgeable. She is patient and has brilliant ideas for your big day. She will be with you for every step of the planning process to make sure nothing is left out! We are so thankful for her and the rest of the crew that was there for our wedding day! They were fast and efficient and did whatever necessary to make sure ourselves and guests were happy. The food itself was simply amazing! Our guests raved about it all! Our overall experience exceeded our expectations and we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to anyone for any event needing catering!

Ithaca Bakery did a fantastic job with our cake! The floral decorations were exactly what we envisioned and the cake itself was absolutely delicious; everyone was asking who our vendor was! Their options are great as well; we were having trouble deciding what combination of flavors to go for. In the end, we had an almond flavored cake with chocolate ganache. It was absolutely superb! They were so easy to work with, both with determining decorations and working out pricing. We picked our cake up as our venue was a bit out of the way. The employees there were very helpful with telling us how to transport the cake without having it tip over in the car or on the way into the venue. Definitely recommend them for your bakery needs!

Ithaca Bakery became the unofficial caterer of the entire wedding weekend that my friends, family and I spent in Ithaca. We ate it for breakfast on our set up and wedding day. They also ended up baking our cake at the last minute which turned out perfectly and was extremely delicious. And then finally they actually catered our morning after brunch at Treman. We did a buffet of bagels, muffins, pastries, fruit, coffee and juice and everything was wonderful. They came in and set up without me even knowing so when my husband and I woke up everything was ready to go. Our more-than-slightly hungover guests were very pleased.

We sought out Ithaca Bakery primarily for our wedding cake, but also ended up using them to cater our wedding related wine tour-- and both choices were well made! We started with a very positive experience with cake tasting. While We knew what kind of 'look' we were going for, we were fairly deeply divided on taste preferences. Though it may seem obvious to some, given that we had selected a two-level cake, it was a revelation to have our coordinator Heather suggest NOT compromising-- and making one level 'his' and one level 'hers'. To me, this was genius and something I had not considered as a viable option. With this idea, we efficiently concluded our plans and waited on our cake.

In the mean time, plans were evolving that required some sort of snack/lunch catering service. We went to Ithaca Bakery in hopes that they could simplify our lives once again and we received variety platters ( one cheese board, one hoagie platter) that delighted our guests (and our wallets). We were impressed with the quality of the items we received!

We wanted a simple wedding cake for our restaurant reception because dessert was already being served. The crew at Ithaca bakery was a huge help! We got a 10 in. buttercream cake with raspberry ganache and it was so delicious! We did not want any crazy decorations, just simple whipped icing and they nailed it. The best part was the price- $30 for a four layer, 1 tier, 30 in cake!

We used Ithaca Bakery for my wedding cake and cupcakes for my wedding. Simply put - they were delectable and unforgettable. We chose a two-tier cake that was lemon cake, lemon buttercream frosting, and raspberry preserves as the filling between the cake layers, and supplemented with chocolate, vanilla, and carrot cake cupcakes. The cake was absolutely delicious - we had countless guests remarking on how tasty the cake was, and how the unique combination worked perfectly for a summer wedding. The cake and cupcakes were delivered promptly and without any issues - the overall look of the cake and cupcakes were EXACTLY what I had requested.

I highly recommend the Ithaca Bakery for your wedding cake and/or desserts - they are well-established, and did not disappoint at all with the end results for the wedding.

We were so incredibly happy with the Ithaca Bakery. Evita was incredible, always accommodating our every need. She was simply delightful to work with. She did an incredible job setting up the venue with her team, perfecting all the details just as we requested. She even went out of her way to find bright pink ribbon to tie on all the napkins for us. She was available at our every request and met with us multiple times before the wedding at the IB and the Farmers Market. We love Evita and recommend her and the Ithaca Bakery without any hesitation at all!

Awesome, Awesome, Awesome! I was working with them long distance and did not get to meet with them in person until about 2 weeks before the wedding, but that was all I needed. I worked with Kim for the catering and she was great! She came out and visited my venue to check things out and on the day of literally took care of everything! I made a lot of decorations for the reception and every single thing was placed exactly where I had imagined it. I did not hear one bad thing about the food either!

Ithaca Bakery provided a small cake cutting cake, cupcakes, individual apple and pumpkin pies for our wedding. We met Heather in July and did a taste testing and fell in love with the cakes and pies. We knew immediately that we didn't want to look any further. Heather was very responsive in getting the contract out and taking payment as the date approached. Our desserts arrived on time on our wedding day. The display looked amazing and our guests raved about the desserts. Thanks Ithaca Bakery!

Ithaca Bakery went above and beyond for us with our wedding cake. We had two cake tastings and they were willing to work with us to create a fall flavored wedding cake. They were open to the idea and loved the creativeness of it. They also were able to create a fantastic grooms cake without my husband having a clue about it. They were easy to work with, and their cake is fantastic! It was not dry at all like a lot of wedding cakes can be! We would definitely suggest Ithaca Bakery to all of our friends and family who are getting married.

The best desserts!

Ithaca Bakery did a fantastic job on my wedding cake. I am from the Ithaca area, I had Ithaca Bakery make my high school graduation cake, and I always try to make a point to stop by when I’m in town, so once I knew I was getting married in the finger lakes area I was set on having them bake my wedding cake. We ended up going with a small cutting cake (which was very reasonably priced) and a bunch of cupcakes. Their dessert is so incredible. I was able to choose 4 different cupcake flavors (chocolate, vegan vanilla, apple cinnamon, and red velvet) and rent a cupcake stand to display them at the venue. They delivered to my venue without any problems and were able to add the floral topping to the cake once they got there. It was a little hard to get ahold of them sometimes through email, but they were always very responsive when I called. I will always recommend Ithaca Bakery and I’m so glad I chose them for my wedding cake.

Highly recommended caterer

Working with Ithaca Bakery as our caterer was a breeze. The food was absolutely delicious. I would even say the food on my wedding day was better than our tasting. We had a backyard wedding at our home, and the IB staff were courteous and respectful. Our day-of coordinator changed at the last minute (like, got the call the day before my wedding) which threw me off a little since I had been working with one specific person for months, but the new coordinator picked right up where the old one left off, and everything ran smoothly. I felt that the pricing was very fair for the quality of food and service we received. We also got our cake through IB and it was absolutely delicious, and beautiful to look at, too. I would work with IB again for any catering needs and would recommend them to other engaged couples in the area.

We used Ithaca Bakery for our wedding cake and are really happy we did; the cake was gorgeous, delicious and very affordable. We knew that we wanted a 'naked' carrot cake and Heather and her staff were able to execute exactly what we were looking for. We provided a few pictures and were very impressed with the outcome. We dropped off our cake topper and flowers which they beautifully incorporated.

To keep costs down we went with a two layer cake and then ordered a sheet cake for service; there was no difference in the quality and actually made service quicker than breaking down the layer cake.

We had a few guests with nut allergies; IB was not able to accommodate making a smaller cake without nuts for these guests. This lack of flexibility is the only negative from the experience. Overall, very happy we went with Ithaca Bakery for our cake.

Perfect wedding cake! My husband and I had special requests for our cake, and Ithaca Bakery captured exactly what we were looking for. The cake was delicious, and well loved by our guests.

I was also planning this remotely and found them to be very easy to work and incredibly responsive!

Ithaca Bakery provided all of the catering, bar, rentals, and wedding cake and desserts for our wedding. We had a great experience working with Niki and Ithaca Bakery and would definitely recommend them. Everything was just what we wanted, and they remembered all of the details we had discussed. Everything arrived on time and was set up beautifully. The staff were very professional, friendly, and unobtrusive. The food was great! We had several passed hors-d'oeuvres, and Cornell BBQ chicken, salmon, and pesto ravioli for dinner. The chicken and fish were grilled on site so they were very fresh, and we got lots of compliments on the food. They also made a nice vegan polenta for our one vegan guest. For dessert, they provided a small wedding cake and an assortment of mini-pies and cupcakes that were absolutely delicious. My only complaint would be that I often waited a number of days to hear back from them during the planning process. However, on the day of our wedding everything was perfect and we were very happy.

Ithaca Bakery was great to work with for our wedding. We both were familiar with their bakery and was excited to choose them to cater our wedding. We had two free food tastings and were even invited back for a third. They changed our menu at our request time and again, were great in price, and helped us meet our budget. We also had tons of comments from our guest on how wonderful the wedding food was and how different some of the choices were! They had lots of both vegetarian and meat options to keep everyone happy and were a joy to work with for our wedding.

Ithaca Bakery was an amazing caterer at our wedding. The food is still receiving plenty of compliments from foodie and non-foodie alike, especially the appetizers which multiple people have said were their favorite appetizers at any wedding they have been to. In addition, Ithaca Bakery was exceeding flexible to deal with our weddings dietary needs. All of our guests (and bride and groom) who were gluten free, nut free, vegan and/or vegetarian ate their fill and no one got sick! Ithaca Bakery was also great in allowing us to purchase the wine and then distribute it along with the beer, juice, soda and water. My wife and I would certainly recommend Ithaca Bakery for any catering needs.

The Ithaca Bakery did a great job with our catering. They provided all the side dishes for the event. The food was delicious and they took care of everything for me. Kurtis Price and his staff did a wonderful job. Friends and family members were raving about how good the food was long after the reception ended.

Everyone from Ithaca Bakery was very professional and very helpful throughout the wedding planning process. Our cake tasted good (from the little I had of it) and was one of the best values I could find. The design of my cake was cute, but it didn't turn out as elegantly as my inspiration picture. Perhaps a more basic design would have been a better choice.

Our cake was delicious and quite pretty, however signals must have gotten crossed as some point because they basically reversed the colors I had asked for. None the less, they were quite easy to work with and provided the best price we could find for a simple wedding cake. We had a small cake for cutting and then cupcakes for the guests and they worked with us to find a good balance of flavors. I didn't get a chance to try them all, but the guests seemed to enjoy them.

Cake was wonderful!! We opted to do a display cake with flavored sheet cakes.. once your cake is cut and disapears people are none the wiser that it isn't what they are eating!!

The only negative is that the cake was late to our wedding... i had to call them and delay the reception start until it arrived. And i had requested a cupcake for a girl celebrating her birthday that day and it didn't arrive

other than that they were fantastic!

The food provided by Ithaca Bakery was very good! They catered our cocktail hour and reception dinner. Guests were raving about how good all the food was - and not your typical bland wedding food. The entrees we chose were grilled sirloin with portobello's and roasted red pepper au jus, hawaiian bbq chicken, and eggplant rollatini. The food was grilled at our venue so everything was fresh & hot. They also rented the linens and china for us, and set up everything that went on the table. Getting in touch with our coordinator was not always easy, they are a busy business and seem to have a lot of turnover. We went through two coordinators before working with Niki. When we were able to meet with her she was very nice and professional and made sure everything went smoothly.

Ithaca Bakery is a busy place and it was sometimes hard to get ahold of the correct contact. The plus side to dealing with a busy bakery is that the high demand = high quality. The cake, filling, and icing options were a little more limited than other bakeries we looked at, but there were still enough choices to have a beautiful wedding cake. The prices were also much better than other bakeries. Once we did have an opportunity to meet with Todd, he was very courteous and put together a wonderful cake tasting sampler according to our tastes. He brought out albums of previous cakes for us to look through, which was very helpful. Overall, Todd and the Ithaca Bakery were great to deal with. They're a little busy, but you'll get a great result.

The food was great, the service was great! The planning process left something to be desired, but it all went well anyway.

Food was great-there were a few mistakes but nothing terrible. The process of getting what we wanted was fairly stressful. We had received quotes for what they offered and then the final price ended up changing significantly. They hadn't included the packaging and it almost doubled the price. In the end, I still love Ithaca Bakery-I just think the word "wedding" inspires dollar signs and thoughts of unlimited budgets in many businesses.

Getting a hold of the wedding cake representative was somewhat hard. We could not get a proper tasting. A box of cake samplings were left at the shop for us to pick up. Temperature of the cake was off and we were not impressed with the sample. Despite all this, the cake delivered on the day of the wedding was delicious and met my expectations. Cake was slightly off from the provided picture, but it was acceptable.

On the day of our wedding, the food, decorations, and drinks were great. We especially liked the bartender who went above and beyond in helping out. However, leading up to the wedding we were frustrated by the lack of responsiveness and lack of follow through.

The process of tasting the wedding cake, picking out the cupcake flavors, etc. was great. The main baker was wonderful and the taste test tipped the scales over others we were trying! However, the day of our wedding, when I arrived at the venue at 3:00 p.m., I was mortified to look over at our table and see that our cake and cupcakes were missing. They were supposed to have been delivered at noon. Our caterer had to call them to see what was going on. By the time we came back from the photos, at 5:00 p.m., the cake and cupcakes had been delivered. A few hours later when it came to our cake cutting and actually eating the cake, I was not happy when we tasted them. It seemed like the cupcakes had been frozen and then hadn't been thawed (not that I would have wanted pre-frozen cupcakes but I failed to ask if this is what they did for big events so that may be the norm). When we took a bite, the entire piece of frosting clumped off, each and every one we tried. A few friends commented that the cupcakes seemed off. I was so disappointed and embarrassed. I had loved the flavors and creaminess during the tasting, but these were such a big letdown. I love Ithaca Bakery for their food and continue to visit the business quite frequently. But I would not use them again for a big event.

We ordered a variety of desserts from Ithaca Bakery for our wedding. The main "cake" was actually a small 2-tier rice krispy treat (the best I've ever had!). We also had an assortment of pies, cakes, and bars, and baklava and canolis... there was such a great assortment, I might be forgetting some, but everything was delicious, and looked great set up. My only issue with the bakery was a lack of communication from the organizer. They were supposed to contact us regarding payment, and we didn't hear from them until the morning of the wedding, despite multiple attempts to contact them. It was a bit stressful, because we did not have final confirmation or any idea of delivery time until the morning of the wedding, but despite that hiccup, everything did work out in the end and the desserts were perfect.

Not super thrilled with IB. It was like PULLING TEETH to get anyone from IB to respond to me in a timely fashion. I'd email, wait 3-4 business days, email again, wait another 3-4 business days, then finally get ticked off and call.

The food itself was hit-or-miss. Lasange was great, but they didn't bring enough... probably because the chicken looked gross and was very dry, so we ended up with a lot of that left over. Couscous salad was "meh," but green salad was ok. I don't think it was worth the price they charge per head.

We held a small reception after our elopement. So maybe our event wasn't big or important enough (read: enough $$$) for them to care. Having said that, one of my close friends used IB for her 150 person wedding two years ago, full service catering with open bar, and she had the same experience. (They actually ran out of booze at my friend's wedding - oops.)

Would not recommend.
