Had the absolute best experience holding our wedding at the Silk Mill!! The venue itself is beautiful both indoors and outside, but the staff is what really blew me away!! Our day-of coordinator, Sarah, was so helpful in making sure every detail was planned and ready leading up to the day. On our actual wedding day, she set up all of our decor, coordinated with vendors, kept us on schedule, helped me with my dress, helped out with pictures, and probably so much more I didn’t even see!! We received so many compliments from our guests on how smoothly the evening went, and that is all thanks to Sarah and the other Silk Mill staff!! Everyone was truly so nice and helpful and really went above and beyond to make sure we had the best day!!! I would absolutely recommend this venue, they will not disappoint!! -

We got married at the Old Silk Mill on Sept. 4th, 2022, and cannot recommend this venue enough!!! From when we first learned about them, to when we came to tour it, to all the pre-event communication, to the food tasting, and finally to our wedding day, every staff member we interacted and worked with was professional, approachable, kind, attentive to our needs (and wants!), and extremely accommodating. The team at the Old Silk Mill truly goes above and beyond to make your big day stress-free, memorable, and according to your vision. We also hired our Day of Coordinator through them, and she was so helpful in so many different ways b/c of her talents and also b/c she knows the in-and-outs of the venue.
As for the venue itself, it is a hidden gem! The ancient red brick and the lush green grounds require very minimum decorations and look so classy and beautiful on their own. The venue came with many twinkle lights, ceiling decor, and beautiful antique furniture. The gold chivari chairs and gold flatware were a bonus for us but something the venue provides at no extra cost.
Lastly, the food was incredible! We came to the tasting a month before our wedding, tried many different food options, and spoke with the chef. The result was a delicious meal at our reception! (Coffee-encrusted beef, saffron rice, and chef's special roasted veggies. For dessert, we had a dessert bar)
In summary, the venue and its staff have exceeded all of our expectations! -

I can't say enough great things about the Old Silk Mill. Before my husband and I got married, we had attended weddings there before and absolutely fell in love with the venue. So when it was our turn to get married (4/2/22), it was a no-brainer. The venue itself has SO much character - you don't need a lot of extra décor or "fluff". Flowers and some simple signs and décor is more than enough to tie everything together. Our wedding party, family members, and some guests stayed on-site at the rooms which was an amazing extra perk! Everyone loved the convenience of having everything in one place (bridesmaids and groomsmen both had separate get-ready suites, hotel rooms for guests, ceremony, cocktail, reception all within walking distance). Aside from the elegance and convenience (as well as location less than 1 mile from downtown Fredericksburg), the staff are all absolutely incredible to work with. I booked my wedding 1.5 years in advance and from the beginning, the day-of coordinator we hired (Sarah) was AMAZING! She was extremely communicative, had great vendor referrals, and was an amazing resource. You can't go wrong with this venue and DEFINITELY ask for Sarah to be your day-of! She and the rest of the staff made sure we were taken care of the entire day of the wedding - during cocktail hour they brought us drinks and apps while we took pictures, they kept us on schedule, and were so nice and a pleasure to work with. I can't imagine getting married anywhere else. This place is truly a hidden gem. -

We got married at the Silk Mill on 6/27/2021. Initially, I was hesitant to take a tour of the venue because I was so sure it would be way out of my price range. I ended up touring the place just in case, and I am SO glad I did. First of all, the silk mill is absolutely gorgeous. The cost ended up being lower than almost every other venue I looked into, which was surprising to me considering how beautiful this place is. Our wedding day was absolutely magical. The bridal party got ready in the bridal suite at the silk mill. I can’t remember the name of the room, but it was so spacious and pretty. We had about 15 people in the room getting ready, and we could have easily fit 15 more. We used the reception hall in the silk mill for the ceremony rather than the chapel due to the heat in the summer. The silk mill staff was able to set up tall white drapes to separate the reception tables from the ceremony area. It was absolutely gorgeous. The dinner was delicious, and extremely reasonably priced. The price of the alcohol was by far cheaper than any other alcohol package you can find for wedding receptions in the area, without a doubt. The wait staff and bartenders were great and so friendly. I am so over the hills with how our wedding day went, I could go on and on about how amazing the silk mill was. If you’re looking for a reception space, the silk mill is the best option! They also have the woolen mill as an option now, which is equally as gorgeous. You can’t go wrong with either option! -

Our wedding experience was definitely one for the books! From having to reschedule our date 2 or 3 times due to covid, our day finally came true when things settled down a little on August 17th, 2020. The silk mill worked with us step by step making sure we were all set for our big day, I appreciate the staff for being so friendly and accommodating to us. I love the vintage feel and elegance of the venue and how you can add to it and make it your own design and feel! I can’t say enough good things about it :)Inn At The Old Silk Mill's reply:

Everything about the Silk Mill was perfect, they made all of our out of town guests feel welcome. Silk Mill provided excellent assistance with planning & ensuring all details of our wedding were worked out even through COVID. We opted for the planner & day or coordinator & Chelsea & Maggie were both amazing in ensuring our day went absolutely perfect! I had not one single worry the entire day to evening as they stayed on top of everything! They were flexible in allowing us to have a safe ceremony & reception with temps taken & mask/sanitizing station setup at our reception. This is the best all-inclusive deal you can find in town. We also used their catering & all of the food & drinks were phenomenal. Silk Mill is amazing! -

We had the best experience at The Silk Mill. The venue was just what my daughter envisioned. Everything was in one location. Chapel, reception and hotel rooms. Downtown Fredericksburg was 1/2 mile away. The chapel held our 200 attendees. The reception was a mix of old brick and big industrial windows with a beautiful chandelier. Great place for pictures for the wedding party. The staff were all amazing. The room for the bride and bridesmaids to get ready in was very large with a sink, small fridge and an area for hair and make up. Probably the best part of the experience was having Sarah Dixon as our Day of Coordinator. She guided us thru the process months ahead of time. She was so organized and on the wedding day kept a very large wedding party on track and in the right places at all times. I would strongly encourage investing in hiring Sarah as your coordinator. It was a perfect day. -

This place has everything in one. It has a rustic feel in a historic inn and mill, a great chapel, and accessibility to the urban city. The rooms remind you of a time when you were in rural america, while the city feel makes you feel connected still and not in the boonies. The way the ceremony is done is beautiful. The staff open the doors of the chapel making it feel special. The food is okay at the reception, but the tasting was better cooked, but still good overall. The rooms were great for the feel of the place. I would recommend them first for those looking for something unique and special, but not so far out or priced out of their range as this was within a wedding of $20000 budget with everything included.Inn At The Old Silk Mill's reply:

Amazing and unique venue with an A+ staff! The day went off without a hitch- my day of coordinator was on point, my planning was executed down to the very last detail, and the pictures that have already come out of it are breathtaking. My husband and I are extremely happy we picked the Silk Mill for our big day. The venue itself is beautiful, and makes for amazing photos! You can't beat the rustic atmosphere of the brick walls and large windows mixed with the romantic and classic feel of the chandelier and twinkle lights above, and the beautiful ivy wall outside - also their courtyard is hands down the best backdrop for a sparkler exit!
The food provided by their in house catering was amazing! They put on a great tasting to try their different menu options and it was so hard to decide on what we wanted since it was all so good - we're still receiving compliments on how good the food was from our guests! And at the end of the night we even got bride/groom to-go boxes so we could still enjoy it the next day!
The staff at the Silk Mill was also so great to work with. Anna, Sarah and our day of coordinator Brianna were extremely helpful in the planning process and were always available to answer any questions we had, and provide guidance on what would/wouldn't work well with the schedule or set up of the venue.
I can't recommend the Silk Mill enough, we had the most amazing and magical day! -

We booked the venue about 18 months ahead of time. I balked at hiring the Old Silk Mill wedding coordinator for $500 thinking I didn't need that, certainly not at that price. Boy was I wrong. Morgan was our coordinator. She was worth every penny and then some. While we were mingling and making sure our guests were having a good time, she was running around making sure we could mingle worry free. The venue was flawless, well lit, clean, and everything was as we had requested. Morgan made the day worry free, even when we had a medical emergency during the ceremony! It could have been a disaster, but due to the Old Silk Mill staff (Morgan) the reception continued. I would definitely book again. but, since I don't plan on getting a divorce, maybe we'll renew our vows there in a few years. Yes, it's pricey, but we got what we paid for - a worry free event where all we worried about was having a good time. -

Maggie Sent on 08/20/2018The Silk Mill made all of my wedding day dreams come true! It was the only wedding venue we toured, and right away we knew it was the perfect place for us. The space is unique yet classically beautiful - it doesn't require a lot of additional decorations. We had our ceremony in the chapel and we loved that we were able to have a separate indoor site. Cocktail hour was outside on the patio and I loved that we were able to utilize all of the different locations. There are so many beautiful backdrop options for photos - especially the ivy covered brick walls!
The space is stunning, but the staff are what made the experience something truly special. Sarah, our "day of coordinator" (but so much more than that), went above and beyond to make our wedding day run smoothly. She was so helpful coordinating my with vendors ahead of time and answering all of my questions. She was such a calming presence on the wedding day and I can't imagine making the wedding happen without her! Everyone we dealt with at the Mill was so kind and helpful and we can't thank them enough!

She was very informative, helped answer all our questions, and offered great suggestions for vendors. Once we booked the venue, they made it easy for all our guests to book their rooms for our big day. Since we booked the entire Inn, they even let us continue the party in the lobby after the reception was over. It's absolutely worth the money to hire their wedding coordinator. Sarah was amazing and helped our vision come to life. She organized 30-day-out meetings, took over coordination with our vendors, led our rehearsal, and made sure our day ran smoothly and perfectly. Can't say enough good things about her! With the mill's lighting, drapery, exposed brick, Edison lights, and decor, it hardly needs any additional decorations. After touring practically all the Fredericksburg venues within our budget, we were not expecting such a large space, with so many options, that we hardly had to decorate. We were very lucky, thanks to a cancellation, to have gotten a date within 6 months of when we actually started planning our wedding. Having the option to stay in the Inn made a world of difference for coordinating the wedding party. The courtyard was perfect for the ceremony and cocktail hour, and if the weather hadn't been perfect on that late October day we would have been just as happy with the plan B arrangement. We chose almost all of our vendors from their preferred list and were not disappointment with anyone. We also hired the day-of coordinator through them and were impressed with how relaxed the day was with such a capable and diligent team. (Thanks Occasions by M&K!!) -

I loved having my wedding at the Inn! It’s a beautiful venue that doesn’t need a lot of decorations to feel amazing. We hired a day of coordinator and she was just that amazing day of after the event started.
Most things are included and they were great about the open bar. My only complaints which I didn’t know till wedding time was that no shots are allowed and no drinks on the dance floor. My wedding coordinator made sure that these were followed. All in all people still talk about the amazing food and the great venue. I’d get married here again if I had to do it all over. -
