The best venue!
Independence was the best venue we could have chosen! Their catering and bar staff and service made our day so easy and reliable, and the events and coordinating team cannot be beat! Megan and her team were available for any and every question that came up during the entire wedding planning process and made the entire process a breeze. The on site air bnbs were perfect for our bridal party. We can not recommend Independence enough! -

Megan & the Estate of Independence staff are exactly what you want for you big day! I cannot thank her enough for making our big day PERFECT. From day 1 she has been amazing & had every step ready for us. They were amazing when accommodating our handicap family & guests. Everything from the rehearsal dinner to the day of was everything we wanted. Independence has an amazing menu to choose from. The bridal suite upstairs was such a fun place to hang out and get ready. The balcony was perfect to walk out on and gaze over to the ceremony site. The grounds create the most perfect pictures for lifetime memories. We have only heard great things from our family & guests as well. One of the biggest perks for me was Megan's day of demeanor and how she made sure I was happy and had everything we needed. 5 stars truly is not enough for Megan, her staff, and Independence. -

Perfect Day
I cannot thank Megan and all the staff at Independence enough. The venue had everything we were looking for. It had a beautiful spot for an outdoor ceremony, spaces for the wedding parties to get ready and relax, plenty of space for a seated reception, in-house catering, overnight accommodations for my family and an amazing coordinator. Megan is so good at what she does and such valuable asset to Independence. She is responsive, kind, resourceful, accommodating, and extremely hardworking. She helped me throughout the entire wedding planning process and the day of I was able to relax and not worry about a single thing. This is the type of place and people that go above and beyond. I had an allergic reaction to eye patches I used the morning of my wedding. Before I could even panic Megan had a doctor on the phone instructing me on what to do and a co-worker at CVS getting me medication. I could rave about Megan for days. The venue itself was beautiful, the food was great, the bartenders were awesome. I couldn't of asked for a better day! Thank you Indolence and your entire team! -

Best day ever!!!
Megan and her team are truly the best! Everything was just perfect. The Estate is beautiful as is, but to have Megan and her team by your side every step of the way was truly a plus. No wedding planner needed! Anything one would need The Estate has it all! The Estate was the only venue we toured and we knew it was the one! Megan even placed the flowers on our cake without hesitation. Anything I may have forgotten or did not have Megan and her team did. Many had warned me that on our wedding day some things would go wrong, but nothing did! It was truly a beautiful day to remember. Thanks to Megan, her team and all of our vendors. -

We had our rehearsal dinner, wedding ceremony and reception at the Estate at Independence.It is a beautiful outdoor and indoor space. The food was wonderful, all the staff was amazing. Kacie was our coordinator, we absolutely loved her. Kacie took on all the communication with the vendors and last minute fixes, alleviating a lot of our stress in the days leading up and the day of the wedding. We highly recommend! Our guests were happy and we had so much fun at our own wedding! If we had to choose again, 100% would choose the Estate at Independence. -

Megan and the Independence team were absolutely amazing to work with for our wedding!! We had our reception there and the ceremony was at a church. The bridal parties used the place prior to the ceremony to get ready and the bridal suite and grooms suite are awesome!! Megan's hospitality, professionalism and kindness are one of a kind! She made sure our day went so smoothly!! The backdrop for pictures is beautiful, our guests loved their food, and the venue itself is so magical. Having the option to have cocktail hour and reception indoors/outdoors for people to mingle was great! We couldn't be happier and everyone needs to choose this venue!!! -

We had the best experience at Independence Golf Course! Everything was so beautiful and ran so smoothly. Megan was so helpful and always available during the planning process. We gave her free rein when it came to decoration & decor, we just let her know our vision and she made it happen. We also had our rehearsal dinner at IGC and it was so beautiful. We also rented the cottages the night before for our bridal parties and it was perfect and so cute - we had no complaints!! The honeymoon suite was also a great addition and so convenient! I highly recommend IGC to anyone in the Richmond, VA area! -

The absolute best. Hands down.
We can’t say enough great things about this venue. Our wedding was pure bliss and independence golf club is amazing inside and out. Our wedding coordinator, Megan, was nothing short of exceptional. She took the time to answer all the questions we have had leading up our big day, she made us feel reassured along the way and listened to our wants and needs and was so flexible (especially with rescheduling our wedding 3x due to COVID19). She absolutely executed our special day without a hitch. We can’t thank her enough. The staff at IGC are so wonderful and friendly. The food was amazing and the views are absolutely stunning and will make for beautiful photos! If you’re looking for a wedding venue, look no further, this is the place — 100% you will not regret it!! Love, The Carletons -

We had booked this venue prior to COVID not knowing, of course, that we would have challenges to safely have our daughter's wedding. Boy, did we make the right decision! With all of the changes we made because of precautions (spacing out tables, moving band and dance floor outside, etc), this was a fantastic option-we were able to rent a beautiful tent and move the dance floor and band outdoors, we were able to spread out our tables into TWO rooms for the dinner portion and it worked out that the BEAUTIFUL pavilion for the ceremony was outside also! Everyone commented about how great the food was! Everything looked amazing! Megan (our day-of coordinator from Independence) and her team were spectacular to work with-they set everything up for us (we did nothing) and they broke down everything afterward as well (we just had to pick up our things another day!). They tended to our every need- most times before we even asked! I cannot say enough great things about having our daughter's wedding here!! -

Our original venue in Newport News cancelled less than 3 months away from our wedding due to COVID. Megan and Independence were amazing to work with. Our wedding turned out better than our original plans. Every detail was thought out and our bridal party and guests felt at ease and safe. The food was fantastic and we received so many compliments from our guests! -

This venue is top notch. I had a very easy time getting the information I needed. Megan is the in-house coordinator and was phenomenal from beginning to end. She made everything seem so easy. Covid put a damper on things and she made me feel like everything was going to be ok and was with me through every twist and turn. The wedding was amazing and everyone has stated the had a awesome time. I'm so glad I found this venue and was able to work with such great people. -

Once in a lifetime experience!
My husband and I cannot speak highly enough about Independence! We looked all over for a wedding reception venue (we did a church ceremony) and really struggled with a lot of the restrictions many venues put in place. When we toured with Independence and met with the team, it was a breath of fresh air! The site is stunning and gave us the indoor and outdoor options we wanted for our June nuptials (gorgeous grounds and views, air conditioning was must for our older family members). The team did everything possible to make our experience perfect- they designed a menu with all of our favorite things (even fried green tomatoes), helped us find vendors, collaborated with our florist, decorated the venue with our photos, helped me with making bridal party gifts, and even picked up my wedding gown from the boutique for me! The value of the services was incredible- by far the best food and bar package we found and our guests raved about everything. After dinner and cake they even passed out late-night pizza for guests to enjoy while they danced- so delicious and from their wood-burning pizza oven. Guests were able to mingle between inside and out, play corn hole on the greens, dance in the ballroom, enjoy the delicious food and beverages, etc. The space for the bridal party and me to get ready was huge and accommodated my party of 8 bridesmaids, 3 flower girls, and Mother of the Bride/Groom, and our hair/makeup team and they even catered our lunch with our choices from the restaurant downstairs. We also opted to stay in the honeymoon cottage which was super comfortable and made for a non-stressful transition after the celebration was done. I cannot speak highly enough for Independence and their staff, especially Megan and Beth, who treated us like gold and made sure that we were excited every step of the way. Independence is an incredible venue and they work so hard to meet your needs, work within your budget, and always were so positive and professional to work with. Our day was a dream and we are so grateful for them for making it perfect. Look no further :) -

Perfect venue!
I always wanted the backdrop of my wedding to be on a golf course. Independence had that and so much more! Megan is so knowledgeable and knows everything that needs to be considered when planning a wedding. Their food is delicious and there is on site lodging should you need that as an option. I didn't have to worry about anything the day of because the team handled everything. The pricing is very reasonable considering everything that is included in the event. Tables, chairs, linens, etc. I didn't have to rent anything. I highly recommend Independence to all brides! -

Independence was a joy to work with . Megan was the bright light behind the whole occasion !! She was a calming sense in the craziness of the day . The food was wonderful and the views where perfect for our photos . If you are considering Independence you won’t be disappointed . We received many compliments on the food and the service . I have so much to say about this venue and Megan that I don’t even know where to start. My fiancé and I visited over 20 venues. And when we drove into the parking lot we were in awe of the space. Walking into the building immediately you will see the chandelier and all the decor detail that were perfectly placed. The view from the terrace is amazing and the rooms in the venue are breathtaking. And we can see all of this before we even did the walk through with Leigh Ann. After leaving we looked at each other and just knew that this place was it. We ended up going back just to walkthrough it again and we met Megan. She didn’t even knew who we were and she greeted us so warm and she was so kind. She took time to talk to us and she asked how can she held. I may have seen Megan maybe 5 or 6 times since becoming and every single time I saw her she asked me the same question “how can I help?” She reminds me that I shouldn’t be stressed for me day, always reminding me that she is available whenever I needed her. She is truly amazing. My wedding is in May and I know with her on my team it will be executed flawlessly ! -

The Estate was beautiful! They include a day of coordinator, and God bless Megan! She helped so much with setting up, and keeping everything in order. She was so attentive to any questions I had via text or email. -
Becca Sent on 06/14/2018The venue is absolutely beautiful. I didn’t need to bring many decorations at all, because it is already decorated beautifully! I loved how there are a couple different options for the ceremony site - we ended up choosing the pavilion which gave me a little more peace of mind when it came to potential rain. The food and wine selection are amazing. I highly recommend renting one of the cottages at the back of the property for the bride and bridesmaids to get ready in! It made the day a lot less stressful already being on site to get ready, plus some of my bridal party got to spend the night there that evening too.

Olivia Sent on 06/29/2018My husband and I LOVED having our wedding at Independence. They were so helpful, the venue is stunning before you even add decorations, and the food was awesome. For Saturday weddings there is a minimum of $15,000, but if you have your ceremony and reception at the venue it's pretty easy to hit. They had almost all of our decorations set up before the rehearsal so we were able to see what everything would look like the day before. We didn't pay for an external wedding coordinator and everything went extremely smooth between their coordinators (for the entire day) and our pastor (for the ceremony).
