Amazing Wedding Cakes!

This is the best cake ever!!! Lila made a gorgeous cake for our wedding that was exactly what we asked for. Neither my husband nor I are huge cake people usually, but this cake and cupcakes were the best we've ever had. We did almond, lavender, angel food, and chocolate cupcakes as well. We have had many guests reach out to us about how delicious they were. A few of my friends had warned me before the wedding that we would have lots of leftover cupcakes/cake, but we didn't have one single one. They were a huge hit and beautifully decorated with hints of the flavors as well.

Beautiful and Delicious

Lila was so amazing to work with for our wedding in October! The pumpkin cake we envisioned turned out perfect and the cupcakes looked adorable and were a huge hit. Our guests especially loved the S'mores and Caramel Apple cupcakes! We had guests with dietary needs and they loved the gluten free/vegan cupcakes. Lila was very responsive in all communications and was great at coming up with creative ideas to bring my vision to life. Plus everything tasted so amazing! Thank you for helping to make our day perfect, Lila! :)

Beautiful and Delicious!

Lila did an amazing job on our wedding cake, it turned out beautifully. And tasted delicious too! There were such an assortment of flavors available to us, and we were able to choose different combinations for each of our three tiers, which allowed us to get a little something for everyone. Guests at our wedding were trying to get a taste of all three flavors, because they were all so good. I would absolutely recommend her and her delicious cakes for any event!

We could not have been more happy with our cake and cupcakes on our Wedding Day. We keep saying we can't wait for next year to get our cake topper so we can have the same cake again. Not only was everything absolutely delicious, but everyone raved at how beautiful the cake was. Just outstanding! We highly recommend!

Eileen from How Sweet It Is Cakes was amazing! So helpful in every aspect of helping us decide what kind of cake to get. When you decide to get your cakes from here, they THREE FREE CAKES as part of your tasting- and they are so friggin' delicious. They have about a million different flavors to choose from, which can be somewhat overwhelming, but Eileen even helped us with that :) Our cake design was simple and it was executed perfectly. Beautiful cake, helpful customer service, overall an amazing experience!

I needed desserts for my son's wedding which would take place at Lutsen Resort. On our visit to Lutsen before the wedding, we stopped for breakfast at Duluth Grill and had to taste the French Macaroons and a few cupcakes. absolutely delicious "to die for". Later from home I called to place my order. I spoke to Eileen, she was wonderful, felt like I had known her forever, providing advice and suggestions, bonus you receive a bakers dozen for the price of a dozen and ordered dozens; carrot cake, an assortment of cupcakes, assorted cheesecakes, French Macaroons and the wedding cake. Everything was perfect and package as I requested. As a wedding planner for 15 years it is the first wedding I have attended that there was not one morsel left. So get an extra box for yourself. Fantastic service, and delicious. So f you have an event anyplace on the Northshore, if you want the best desserts call Eileen at How Sweet It Is in Duluth.

Eileen is remarkable. Her talent, dedication, and her team are all phenomenal. My parents had one of Eileen's cakes at a wedding five years ago and never forgot it. So, when were tasting cake for my recent NYE wedding, my mother insisted we also try How Sweet It Is - nevermind that they're located in Duluth and the wedding was in White Bear Lake. She was right - Eileen's cakes blew everything else out of water! If you're serious about dessert and getting married somewhere between the Twin Cities and Duluth, skip the bland and overpriced local bakers like Buttercream in Saint Paul (seriously disappointing) and give How Sweet It Is a chance. The cake was beautiful and delicious, as were all of the wedding treats we got from Eileen - millionaire bars (like a homemade Twix), financiers (French-style doughnuts that aren't overly sweet), miniature chocolate eclairs (best I've ever tasted - didn't know they could be so delicious), and the macaron are delightful, too - and that's just the tip of the iceberg of what she can do! Eileen is also a delight to work with, and also very organized and professional. I wouldn't trust a wedding cake and dessert buffet to anyone else for the dependability and fantastic quality she and her team provide. Thanks, Eileen and How Sweet It Is!

I LOVE How Sweet It Is Cakes! I ordered a small wedding cake for 25 people and handled everything through email. My parents went to pick it up the morning of, and it was absolutely perfect. Exactly what I asked for and even better, it tasted DELICIOUS. All our guests absolutely loved it. We got a chocolate raspberry cake with a raspberry filling and white frosting. It was beautiful, elegant, and just awesome. If I'm ever in the area again I will be ordering from How Sweet It Is Cakes!

We contacted Eileen at the very end of January 2016 to see if she could do a wedding cake for 2/29/16. She was very willing to work with us and the cake was amazing! All of our guests raved about the flavor and how amazing our "naked" wedding cake looked. It couldn't have been a smoother transaction and the bonus 1st wedding anniv cake is such a sweet touch, thanks Eileen and crew!

We are still dreaming about our cake from How Sweet It Is! Due to a gluten and dairy allergy I was worried I wouldn't be able to enjoy any cake at my own wedding. How Sweet It Is not only made me a gluten free/vegan cake, they made one that was so good that those others at the wedding who had gluten and dairy allergies were convinced they had been served the wrong part of the cake. We had four different flavored tiers to our cake and each one received rave reviews from our guests. How Sweet It Is also created iced snowflake shaped sugar cookies for our dessert table. My husband, who does not enjoy iced sugar cookies, kept going back for more. We are counting down the days until our first anniversary so we can enjoy another cake from How Sweet It Is!

We LOVED our wedding cake! We both have food allergies, and How Sweet It Is, was soooo accommodating! They worked with us to make sure we had a fantastic cake that we could both enjoy. Also, we highly recommend paying extra for the delivery service. Having it delivered and set up was worth the money. It saved us time and stress! We highly recommend them for your cake!

Eileen is the best, and don't hesitate to use her wonderful bakery to create the most delicious and fabulous cake for your wedding! Eileen met with us many times to first listen, offer her expert advice, and then create the picture perfect wedding cake to fit the style of wedding we had at the beautiful Greysolon Ballroom! Together with Mariah from Northland Special Events, we worked together to come up with a 3 tier NAKED cake with 24 karat gold icing on the largest tier! It was both gorgeous and delicious! Worthy of a magazine cover! She also made 200 wonderful cupcakes and we were so happy with everything she did for us to make this truly a dream fair tale wedding come true!!!

Definitely recommend booking with How Sweet It Is! Their food/cakes/etc are delicious, the artistry is phenomenal, and the employees are very professional and friendly. They ask about your budget, and they let you try different items. I highly recommend this bakery. Stop by for a sandwich too, they're delish!

Eileen was great to work with. We've had a few of the cupcakes and cookies at How Sweet It Is and we are pretty basic in the flavors we like so we had come up with a few options but she knew what to add to them to make them a little bit better! The red velvet cupcakes are my favorite :) We had a wood theme so Eileen recommended a birch bark cake for our cutting cake. It looked so amazing! Some people didn't even realize it was a cake! They also have gluten free options that don't taste dry! Very delicious and would recommend them!

We were referred to How Sweet It Is Cakes from a friend who was extremely happy with their wedding cake and cupcakes they had done for their wedding. We went up and visited the store and the baker/owner was so happy to help us out with any flavor we wanted. She went over full details of flavors and pricing and we got a few free samples at that time. We also took part in the Cupcake tasting they provide and we had such a tough time deciding what to go with since they were all AMAZING. They even helped us out with some gluten free cupcakes. On the day of the wedding everyone was thrilled about how great the cupcakes tasted, mostly the OREO flavor. The fact that you get a similar cake to your wedding cake so you don't have to freeze it is brilliant, no ones likes the taste of freezer burned cake when celebrating their one year anniversary! Thanks to everyone at How Sweet It Is for the delicious cake and helping to make our day as amazing as it was.

We have had HOW SWEET IT IS provide us with 7 cakes (5 gluten free with one also being vegan) for 2 special events which were 4 years apart. Both times, exquisite. We also had them provide us with a variety of cupcakes for another event, magnificient!!
These cakes also included artistry beyond any expectations I had. I'd call Eileen again, and again, and again.

Our cake was so beautiful and everyone loved the flavors! We did layers of salted caramel, red velvet, and lemon cream - our guests were obsessed! My only regret is that I didn't get to eat more of it!

My husband and I walked into How Sweet It Is knowing this was our first choice for our wedding cake and cupcakes. We stopped by to make an appointment for a consultation, but instead we were greeted with a smile and told that we could have our consultation right away!! We met with Eileen who could not have been nicer!! She went over pricing and all the options for fillings and toppings (so many to choose from and it's so hard to choose!). We felt so comfortable talking to her and knew she would take such good care of us and our wedding. At the end of the consult, she even offered us each a free cupcake to try!

We ended up going with a chocolate and espresso cake for us (which was out of this world delicious) and red velvet and sea salt caramel cupcakes for our guests. We had SO MANY compliments on the cupcakes-I think people took more than one! (Which I don't blame them for). Eileen was so easy to correspond with in person and via email, and she made our experience so special. I would HIGHLY recommend How Sweet It Is to anyone getting married, or to anyone who wants to enjoy a delicious cupcake!!

Eileen and the "How Sweet It Is" crew was absolutely AMAZING!!! I ordered a smaller cake and cupcakes for our wedding and was so delighted with everything, the look, the taste, the setup! I cannot say enough good things about this place. All of my guests were asking where we got our desserts, they loved it!! The price was also very reasonable, I would recommend How Sweet it is to anyone getting married!

How Sweet It Is made the most delicious and beautiful cake and cupcakes for our wedding. We were able to do different flavors on each of the tiers of the cake and we had several different flavored cupcakes so we had something for everyone. I didn't get to try very much on the day of but everyone who came raved about the cakes, and what I did eat was amazing. They delivered the cake directly to my venue and made sure that it was perfect when we needed it. Eileen was very friendly and made it easy to decide what I wanted.

One word: PHENOMENAL!!!! This place is just amazing. Not only are they accommodating but incredibly nice. They're cakes are divine and truly made from scratch so you can get any cake you want. Eileen, the owner, is the funniest and most welcoming person ever. The cake and frosting literally melt in your mouth and are the perfect amount of sweetness and flavor. Please please go with this place for you wedding cake. You will not regret it!

I used How Sweet It Is for our wedding cake and a surprise special Groom's cheesecake for our wedding day. I live very far away from Duluth, MN and was apprehensive making a cake flavor decision without taste testing so I left the final decision up to Eileen and SHE WAS RIGHT!! We ended up with a Chantilly lemon cake with raspberry filling and lemon whip cream. I cannot even begin to tell you how good this cake was!! ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! Eileen was even willing to get us our 1 year anniversary cake ahead of time since we wouldn't be back to the Duluth area again. THANK YOU for a great experience!

Absolutely love "How Sweet it is Cakes". They are so kind and friendly, easy to talk to and work with on helping to ensure that you get the best! They were able to create the wedding cake we wanted perfectly and they have so many options available for flavors! We had been to several cake places to try and see if someone could create an oreos cookies and cream cake, How Sweet it is Cakes was the only one who was able to create it and think outside the box. It was so delicious!

Eileen and the team was great with us. The have spunk which goes with their extremely artistic talents. They want to achieve by giving you want you want on your special day. Eileen from How Sweet It Is is a dream to work with! She got just as excited as we did about making a pie for our pi day wedding.
She also made so many cupcakes and everything was so beautiful and delicious! I can't recommend this bakery enough.

*only small kinda downside thing is that the gluten free cupcakes weren't labeled, so none of my gluten free guests were able to eat cupcakes*

We used How Sweet it is for our Groom's Dinner and Wedding cakes. They were so amazingly good! Everyone commented on how good the desserts were. We had a two tier cake with two different flavors, cupcakes of all flavors, and chocolate mousse. Delicious is the only way to describe it. She does great discounts for military and is so great to deal with. Very impressed!

Duluth is so lucky to have Eileen at How Sweet It Is Cakes! My (now) husband and I are huge foodies and I love to bake, but knew better than to take on making our wedding cake, but needless to say, the cake (and our catered dinner) were a really big deal to us. I was floored with all the options and room for a one-of-a-kind cakes that Eileen offers and we were in absolute heaven when we took our first bites of the tasting cakes. Our wedding cake was three tiers of heaven and it was so unique and beautifully designed! Our favorite flavor combo was the Earl Gray Lavender cake with chantilly cream and marzipan. We are planning on making a special trip from Ohio to Duluth for our one year anniversary in large part to have our one-year anniversary cake from How Sweet It Is!

It was a pleasure working with Eileen from How Sweet It Is. During the wedding planning process I still wasn't really excited about having a "white wedding" so I wasn't all that into picking out wedding cake flavors and making other wedding planning decisions etc. My husband wanted cupcakes, so that's basically all the direction we gave this bakery. I'm sure that kind of indecisiveness can be frustrating, but Eileen understood our simplistic nature and ran with it. I enjoyed our meeting with her so much that when it came to deciding on styles of frosting and what-not I just left it up to her; and I was not disappointed. We also decided to have them deliver to our reception site. I'm so glad we did that. No headache and a reasonable cost. I didn't even see them arrive. I walked into the building after exchanging vows and saw a lovely display of delicious cupcakes. Our guests loved the cupcakes. The red velvet flavor was a favorite.

How Sweet It Is provided the cake for my daughter's wedding. It was amazing! Our guests raved about it! My fiancé and I are from the southwest corner of the state and were planning a destination wedding to Duluth and I happened to stumble upon How Sweet it Is after a random Google search. Let's just say we were NOT disappointed.
We met with Eileen for a trial and fell in love immediately - from the fresh ingredients to all the options it was unbelievable what Eileen and her team could do! We had a small cake for us to cut and had cuppies for everyone else *3 flavors!! Which everyone loved

We had so many compliments on our cake and everyone was asking where we got them and wanting more! If I ever got married again I would use Eileen every time - and would recommend to everyone I know getting married.

The wedding cake on the day of our wedding tasted better than the samples that we tried. The Red Velvet was delicious and moist. The other flavors like Lavender Honey, carrot cake, and chocolate went extremely quickly, but we heard they were delicious. They can replicate almost any cake you find on the internet. We had them do a stain-glass look and people thought it looked very pretty although the black icing was a bit messy and got all over some people's clothes. Eileen was very nice every time we either met or emailed.

I used How Sweet It Is Cakes for my sister's bridal shower, and they created the most beautiful yet simple cupcakes!! Not only did they have oodles of cake flavors to choose from (I chose vanilla bean), but they also offered up excellent advice on cupcake decorating ideas and were truly excited to help me out!!

Absolutely fantastic! I saw a cake online that had a hand-painted design of flowers on it. Eileen and her team completely surpassed my expectations! I showed Eileen the picture of what I wanted and without hesitation, she said we can absolutely do that. Well, she definitely delivered. When I walked into the room and saw the cake for the first time, I almost started crying. I have never seen a more beautiful cake. The talent Eileen's team has is crazy! Oh, and how did it taste?? Oh my gosh. The cake was so incredibly delicious and everyone in attendance RAVED about how good it was. The best part is that we were able to do a different flavor for each layer of cake. The hardest part was actually choosing the flavors because they are all so good!

It was clear How Sweet It Is was the preferred vendor of the Duluth area. They came with great reviews from our wedding coordinator so we chose to book with them. What a great choice! Eileen was very patient with us and took the time to explain the cake background to help us understand what decisions we were making.

We went with the Red Velvet cake which was by far the best cake I have ever had. We supplemented with Caramel Apple, Smore's, and Ande's Chocolate Mint cupcakes. Each flavor got rave reviews from our guests. We ordered 20+ extra for our guests and had ZERO leftover!

Delivery was prompt and setup was fantastic. This bakery is THE CLEAR CHOICE!

We were blown away at how amazing our wedding cake was when we got married last summer. It looked fantastic and tasted amazing. Eileen was AMAZING!! My fiance and I are from the twin cities and did not know one cake place in Duluth. We came across How Sweet It Is and after our cake trial I was sold! The cake and cuppies were fabulous and Eileen has such a wide variety that are all so good!

How Sweet It Is Cakes made our wedding cake, and it was absolutely PERFECT! I first spoke to Jeremy, who was so very helpful and fun to talk to! I explained what I wanted the cake to look like, including a detail meant to be a surprise for my groom the day of the wedding, which was a little baseball player hidden in the back of the cake. (He's a huge baseball fan). Anyway, How Sweet It Is Cakes nailed it! The cake was beautiful, and it was SO delicious! We ordered the chocolate heath, and I think I could have eaten the whole thing! The delivery was timely, the cake was beautiful and delicious, and the employees are wonderful. You can't go wrong with this vendor.

The samples were very generous. We received 1 dozen large cupcakes and a medium sized cake to sample. IT WAS DELISH! The art work on the cake was exactly what I wanted even though I couldn't figure out what I wanted. They worked with me to get the right style and colors. It was delivered right on time, it was set up to perfection and everyone got something they wanted, for a fair price! Plus in one year, anniversary cake included in the price.

I completely changed the look of my cake not long before the wedding and she was fine with it. My husband and I were living out of state when planning our Duluth wedding. Eileen was able to meet with us while we were back for an extremely short busy weekend. I knew the design I wanted but was completely clueless about flavors, fillings etc. She walked us through everything they offered, helped us narrow it down and took all the notes. Within the week she had sent me a list of what I had liked the best with price sheets. The next time I was in town she made us sample cakes for us to try of our top flavors. They were all delicious and exactly what we wanted. We finally settled on different flavor/filling combinations for each layer (which I didn't know was possible!) and were all set for the big day. The day of the wedding came and I honestly didn't have a single thought about the cake until I entered the room with our guests. It was am amazing feeling to not have a single thought of doubt or anxiety about something so important to a wedding. I completely trusted Eileen to do a deliver it on time, have it look flawless and taste delicious and she exceed on every point. I highly recommend her for anyone needing a special occasion cake. She is great to work for and the pictures of her work show her talent.

How Sweet It Is Cakes is AMAZING!! Our cake was absolutely fabulous! I chose not to see the cake until we got announced as a married couple into the ballroom and the minute I saw it I started crying because it was so beautiful. Eileen and I had met a few times and I changed my mind a few times on the decor. I am so glad I eneded up with the one I did because it was perfect for the venue. Not only was the decoration OUTSTANDING, but the flavors were to die for! When I originally booked them I went out on a limb because I really hadn't tried much of their stuff and I am a HUGE cake fanatic. I was willing to compromise taste for the cake to look good. But that wasn't the case AT ALL. It was just as amazingly delicious as it was awesome to look at. We had a blueberry sponge cake with blueberry whip cream in the middle, a chocolate layer with whip cream and heath bar in the middle, and a layer of white sponge cake with lemon custard in the middle. I made it a point to try every piece and they were so good! Perfect density and perfect flavors. I can't stress enough how great this cake was! Also, the cake stand was AMAZING!! She even used fabric to match my dress to accent the stand. Eileen and crew is amazing and you are lucky to have them if they are making your cake!

She did a beautiful job on my cakes. We did three different flavors and fillings, she has so many choices you won't believe it. Plus you get 3 sample cakes to try before you decide if you book her. she also made a groom's cake to surprise my husband, it was amazing!

Hands down the best cake place in the Duluth area. Eileen is so nice and passionate about her cakes/cupcakes it's amazing. We ordered our grooms cake, cake topper and cupcakes for the wedding through her. They only use natural ingredients and let us choose as many flavors in as many numbers as we wanted. A big hit was the chocolate lavender cupcake and the white sponge with Raspberry swirl. An added bonus is she makes you a fresh cake topper for your one year aniversay as well. So no need to worry about freezing the one from the wedding!

Eileen created so many wonderful desserts for our wedding! Our cake was beautiful and simple, and absolutely delicious! Our guests loved the wide variety of cupcakes, and I had so much fun choosing from her long list of flavor combinations. Eileen was so easy to work with, and was very helpful with her recommendations.

How sweet it is did a great job on our 9/4/16 wedding at Superior Shores Resort in Two Harbors, MN. They were great to work with very helpful. They made us a beautiful butterfly and birds of paradise decorated cake with multiples tiers and flavors as well as the dessert for our dessert bar. Everything was delicious and fresh and delivered in a timely manner. The cake coma tasting that they do to let you try various flavors and desserts was fun and filling. Please consider using this venue for your wedding or special event as they do a great job and are reasonably priced.

How Sweet It Is is the best in town. Our wedding cake was stunning and more than I could have hoped for. Eileen was a pleasure to work with and took the time to help us decided on the flavors we really wanted. The combinations are overwhelming and she helped to guide us in the right direction. Our cake was moist and fabulous!!

Eileen Brown, owner of How Sweet It Is Cakes, was a true joy to work with! She was fun, energetic, and full of great ideas. She made a beautiful, delicious six-tiered cake (two different flavors: chocolate stout with Irish Cream filling and then vanilla bean with raspberry filling and chantilly cream) with hand-painted sugar orchids for our wedding that truly exceeded our expectations. I will definitely be recommending her to anyone in the Duluth, MN area and hope to work with her and her staff again for our next special occasion.

Eileens cakes were very delicious!! She did wonderful work and our cake looked amazing. She makes everything from scratch so it tastes much better than your average wedding cake. She's very passionate about her work and makes sure you are pleased with her services. Eileen was very pleasant to work with and made suggestions when we didn't know which direction to go next. The only small issue was our communication via email, sometimes it took a little while for her to respond but when she did she answered every question I had. I would definitely recommend her to another couple or anyone with a special event. Delicious cakes and a pleasant person!!

Absolutely loved our wedding cake! We had a two tier cake for our head table. The flavors were amazing, the decoration was so well done, and we were able to customize our cake to really fit us! My only advice is to call by phone if you need to talk to them right away, emailing is a little slow (and by that I mean about a 3 day turn around time) so not bad at all! We really love that they offer a free (pending how much your order is) anniversary cake, rather than freezing the top tier we can go back and get a round for our one year anniversary.

Eileen and the team were an absolute joy to work with. She was on top of every single detail, and always available when we needed her. We planned our MN wedding from NM, and she was very responsive via email. Her team made great suggestions, and we loved our LED-lit cake stands she also rented us. VERY CLASSY!

How Sweet It Is Cakes in Duluth MN is a prime example of a quality run hometown business and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone looking for tasty desserts for their wedding or any other elegant function.

Eileen and her team sat down with me, took her time to really get to know me and know what I envisioned in a cake. She kept in good contact with me and the wedding planner up until the day of the wedding. When I looked at the cake for the first time on my wedding day, I was blown away. It was gorgeous, better than I ever would have imagined, hands down the best cake place in the Northland!!

Eileen helped us through the entire process. We mainly communicated through email (my preference) but did have a personal consultation (which was overwhelming due to their endless amount of flavors!!) and a few phone call confirmations. We chose 3 different kinds of cuppies (cupcakes) for the guests and a 7" round cake for the bridal party. The cupcakes were vanilla bean, carrot cake, and chocolate heath -- delicious! Our wedding cake was also a chocolate heath, but we had caramel on the inside, just like "better-than-sex-cake"... which it was (but don't tell the husband!) I would recommend How Sweet It Is Cakes to anyone, for ANY occasion!

My cake was amazing! Eileen made a gorgeous birch log cutting cake. She also provided recommendations on cupcakes to help keep me within my budget. I received so many compliments on the cake! We had irish car bomb cake (amazing!), and s'mores and red velvet cupcakes. The car bomb cake might be the best cake I've ever had. My recommendation is to call if you're trying to get ahold of them. They are very responsive by phone, less so by email. I would choose How Sweet It Is again if given the choice.

I have always been a big fan of the incredible, delicious cupcakes offered by How Sweet It Is, and knew that if I ever got married, I would want them for my wedding. When that day came, I called and met with Eileen, and we got a beautiful cupcake tree for the reception, with a variety of cupcakes. Eileen was so professional, courteous, and a pleasure to work with. She helped us to decide what types of frosting would complement the cupcake flavors, and they were a huge hit at the wedding, and the leftover cupcakes went fast. They also happily made custom cupcakes for my husband's two children, one with no frosting, and the other with sprinkles. I would definitely recommend doing business with them -- we chose to get cupcakes, but based on the photos of their cakes, they are breathtakingly gorgeous!
