The Perfect Dress
My daughter was an out of town bride returning to Pittsburgh to get married. She was extremely limited on her ability to travel back and forth prior to the big day. We found The House Of Couture Designs as a match for exquisite selection, various price points and designers. Skye had said that my daughter was an "easy" bride; I would say that Skye and her staff made it very easy for my daughter to be an absolutely beautiful bride. Her dress and veil were magical. From the selection, to the fittings, it was perfection! The dress was made to fit her with little to no alterations needed. She received so many compliments. My daughter could not thank Skye and her staff enough. We would highly recommend. -

Service, selection and style
I highly recommend House of Couture Designs in Sewickley, PA. Owner, Skye, stylists Alex and Mikayla provided the best service when I shopped for my mother-of-the-bride dress. They have a large selection to choose from. Alex and Mikayla were able to help me find a beautiful style that was just right for me. I felt so good in my dress at my daughter’s destination wedding in Cancun Mexico last month. Thank you House of Couture Designs! -

I truly can’t describe just how amazing my appointment was today at House of Couture! Not only are their dresses drop dead gorgeous but my stylist Mikayla made me feel like the most special bride from the moment I walked in! She really took time to get to know me and what kind of styles I was interested in, and was incredibly respectful of my budget. The biggest difference from this appointment than any others I’ve been to was how relaxed they made me feel! I never once felt rushed and they let me choose literally any dress I wanted to try on. I’m a bigger girl too and had no issues with trying any of the dresses. Both Mikayla and the owner Skye were so wonderful about making great suggestions while not being pushy in any way. You could tell how professional they were while genuinely wanting to help me find something I loved. Once I got down to a few favorites they even encouraged I try them on as many times as I needed to, and best of all - I FOUND MY DRESS!! It truly was just a magical experience. If you’re looking for a wedding dress I guarantee an appointment there will be everything you could ever want it to be! (The dress in the photo is one you get to sign if you find your dress there!) -

I can't say enough positive things about House of Couture Designs. The experience was everything I wanted and more. My stylist, Alex, was incredibly patient, so helpful, and had such an amazing eye for what I wanted. She took my feedback and pulled more dresses for me to try, and could tell by my facial expressions if I liked or disliked a dress. The experience was comfortable, fun, and exactly what I wanted. From start to finish, I have only positive things to say about House of Couture. I will be recommending them to all of my friends as the best place to buy their wedding dress! -

Amazing experience!! Skye and her team are THE BEST!
I purchased a custom wedding dress from House of Couture Designs and had an amazing experience from start to finish! I went to almost every dress shop in Pittsburgh and decided to make my purchase from HOCD because of the owner, Skye. In addition to having a beautiful inventory, Skye was able to give me the custom dress of my dreams by working her magic! She provided honest feedback and fair pricing. Additionally, I purchased my bridal accessories from her, as well as, my mom’s mother of bride dress. We both loved working with Skye and her team and would recommend all brides to go House of Couture Designs! You won’t regret it! -

Great experience
I went to House of Couture Designs for a mother of the bride dress in 2022. My entire experience was nothing but perfect. Not only did I find the perfect MOB dress but Skye did a fantastic job with my alterations! I already bought a second dress there for my son’s wedding next year! I can’t recommend them enough! -

House of Couture Designs staff is incredible. They were so flexible and accommodating. They have a beautiful selection of event dresses as well! While I didn't get my wedding dress at House of Couture, Skye altered my dress to perfection. I lost a lot of weight over the last year and was still losing when alterations began, Skye was so patient and made sure that every inch of that dress was to my liking and fit perfectly. Service is just above and beyond. For any event dress or alteration, this woman-led business will not disappoint. -

I recently visited House of Couture Dresses and loved the entire experience! When calling to schedule an appointment they were so friendly. From our arrival they made the experience special, comfortable, and fun! Unlike many other boutiques, you don't feel uncomfortable or like you're working with stuffy people-- dresses are hanging without plastic bags so you can actually see them and you can touch them along the way. After falling in love with several dresses, I received reviews from friends on how amazing their alterations are so I knew it would be the perfect place to go back and say yes to the dress! -

Absolutely perfect
Skye is our go to for all our dress needs - she has always be great to work with having 4 daughter brides! Recently, our daughter was getting her maid of honor dress altered since she would have been 38 weeks pregnant on wedding day - the baby had a deferent plan and arrived. Skye was able to have the dress fit like a glove with an ever changing 2week postpartum body! -

There are no words to describe the pure joy I had shopping for my dress. Skye, made every moment magic, special, and just for me. My whole family fell in love with her and her store. My mother, sister and flower girl dresses all came from her store. My flower girls and sister came in from Michigan to have their dresses custom fitted to them by Skye who did whatever it took to make their schedule work with hers. I can not wait to have a reason to go get another dress from Skye. I already miss visiting her! All of Jewelry and my head piece also came from this store. -

MJ, Skye and Alex were amazing! Very helpful and honest. A huge variety for all shapes and sizes. The store has a boutique feel and is beautifully arranged. Walking into House of Couture Designs during my wedding planning process was the best decision I made. From the moment I stepped into the store, Skye and her incredible team (MJ, Alex, and more) took care of me as a bride. They went above and beyond to help me find the dress of my dreams and to feel confident and beautiful on the wedding day. Skye has an incredible eye for design, she helped me find the perfect look from head to toe, including the dress, a beautiful veil, and the perfect party dress for my reception. Her and her team also helped my beautiful mom find the most amazing mother of the bride dress for the wedding as well! House of Couture Designs is the best of the best in and around Pittsburgh, they are personable and truly care about find exactly what you're looking for. She values carrying good-quality dresses and accessories and has a huge selection of designers to choose from. After a middling experience with the salon where I purchased my wedding gown, I brought the situation to Skye for alterations: I'm a curvy gal, and the gown I had in-hand was somehow both much too large and didn't have nearly enough room for my chest. Skye is a kind, frank, no-nonsense artist with the perfectionism and diligence you want in this kind of complicated project. She wrestled and wrangled the dress into shape, worked around my tight schedule, and all in the midst of moving her shop to a new location. For the most important outfit of your life, go to Skye - you'll be in the best possible hands. -

Skye went above and beyond to make my dress perfect! I had one of the hardest materials that showed every little tug of the fabric and she somehow made it fit perfectly! Also, she immediately made me feel so welcomed and comfortable! Not only was she an amazing seamstress for an extremely fair price, but she was so fun to talk to and I thoroughly enjoyed every second spent with her! I would highly recommend her to anyone looking and already have! -

I LOVED working with Skye. I stumbled across her shop when I was looking for someone else to alter my wedding dress as I did not want to pay the salon's minimum where I got it - especially given that they wanted me to get a dress that was way too big even though I informed them that I JUST had a baby six weeks prior. Regardless - it led me to Skye! She was prompt and responsive - she got me in quickly once my dress arrived. She showed me everything that she would do, broke down the price, and even did additional work at a later fitting. Not to mention, her shop is gorgeous and she is fun and honest. I wish I would have shopped in her store for my dress and everything else. I actually came back to Skye for a bridesmaid dress alteration because I think not only is she an incredible seamstress and hard-working person, but she is very transparent with her pricing and she is fair! I hope she is okay with me and my little boy just popping into visit when we are in Sewickley once my need for alterations is over! Would pick Skye over and over again!! She is the BEST! -

I can't thank Skye and her team enough for bringing the vision of my dream wedding dress to life! Although I fell in love with a strapless gown, I had always envisioned my wedding dress with long sleeves and a high neck. Skye and her team went above and beyond to craft the most gorgeous custom sleeves/jacket that fit seamlessly with the gown. Skye understood my vision and worked tirelessly to make sure the dress was absolutely perfect. I cannot thank her and her team enough for creating the dress of my dreams! -

Pros:
-experience of trying on dresses. staff encouraged me to find what I truly wanted vs. pushing to make a sale
-beautiful dresses at fair prices, had sections for different price ranges
-my dress was altered/hemmed nicely and ended up beautiful
Cons:
-timeliness of receiving my dress, accuracy of my order, and customer service
--I bought my dress in November, and they expected it would arrive in May. It did not arrive until September, ONE MONTH before my wedding. I.e. it took 10 months to arrive. We had to constantly call for any updates, and they typically just provided a vague response with no real information. They eventually said it was a shipping issue, but I have not heard of any other brides having this issue. This made me very anxious that the dress would not arrive for my wedding, and I didn't end up getting any real/big alterations (e.g. adding sleeves, changing straps), as I was too worried it wouldn't be finished in time.
--They gave me the wrong veil 5 days before I left town for my wedding. It wasn't even close to the veil I ordered. I had to drive back to the store the day before I left town to pick up the correct one which added a lot of unneeded stress (when you're already feeling nervous). They offered no apology and instead made jokes, e.g. that it's impressive they only made this mistake given the busy time of year. They did not offer any explanation and had to frantically make me a new veil.
--During my dress fitting, made jokes that I should wear higher heels (so they wouldn't have to hem the dress). It felt distasteful after I waited so long to have the dress arrive.
