Fantastic!

Unbelievable Energy All Night!

Hoi Polloi made the entire reception. The band had amazing energy, sounded fantastic, and kept everyone dancing all night. Jim and Mary were great during cocktail hour and set the tone early with an awesome atmosphere while guests were arriving and settling in. Jim was also extremely responsive whenever we had questions and always offered helpful suggestions and options based on what we were looking for. We couldn’t have asked for a better wedding band!!

The Best Decision We Made for Our Wedding!

Hoi Polloi was phenomenal from start to finish! They made our wedding night absolutely unforgettable — every guest we spoke to couldn’t stop raving about the music, and the dance floor was packed all night long.

From the ceremony sound to the high-energy reception, everything was seamless. Jim and the entire band were such a pleasure to work with throughout the planning process. So attentive, professional, and genuinely invested in making our day perfect. Watching the wedding party jam out with the band was such a special moment we’ll never forget!

We can’t thank Hoi Polloi enough for bringing our celebration to life. We’ll be recommending them to everyone we know, and we can’t wait to see them again at another wedding (we’ll be the first on the dance floor!).

You need Hoi Polloi at your wedding!

Hoi polloi was the perfect band for our wedding! They were incredibly accommodating and responsive in the time leading up to the wedding . They were extremely easy to work with and did everything we asked for without issue. On the day, they were the life of the party. They made sure the dance floor was full the entire time! The guests were raving about the song choices and the performance. Hoi polloi is the only band I would recommend and I guarantee they will make your day the best day it can be!

Best Wedding EVER.. and all of our guests agree!

We had the absolute best night of our lives thanks to Hoi Polloi! From start to finish, they were nothing short of AMAZING. Every song request we sent over, they nailed (including Mariah Carey "All I Want for Christmas is You" in August and an abridged version Celine Dion's "Its All Coming Back to Me Now" – and for the few they couldn’t perform live, they seamlessly included them in their break MP3 setlist so when they took a break, the dance floor kept going!

Jim was great to work with – super responsive, professional, and just genuinely easy to talk to. He made the planning process smooth and stress-free, which was a huge relief during all the wedding chaos.

The night of the wedding.... The dance floor was PACKED from the first song to the last. I mean completely full – not a single dull moment. Our guests have not stopped raving about the band. We’ve had so many people tell us it was the most fun and best wedding they’ve ever been to, and we know that’s largely because of Hoi Polloi.

Not only are they incredibly talented musicians, but every single band member was kind, down-to-earth, and a joy to be around. They brought such great energy and genuinely felt like part of the celebration, not just hired entertainment. There were 3 other couples at the wedding who have used them as well. All of those weddings, I have attended and they were always this awesome!

If you’re looking for fun, great music, and a night filled with dancing and unforgettable memories – choose Hoi Polloi. You will not regret it.

Hoi Polloi played at my daughter’s wedding this past Saturday and they were beyond magnificent!

What a wonderful time everyone had at my daughter’s wedding and it was because the music was sensational! Jim is so easy to work with and his knowledge of so many venues is crazy. He and the band are extremely professional, kind and oh so talented. I will definitely use them again if my other child gets married. Loved, loved them!!

The best wedding band EVER

We can't say enough wonderful things about Hoi Polloi! They were the very first vendor we booked when we started planning our wedding, and it was the best decision we made. Music truly sets the tone for the entire celebration, and Hoi Polloi made sure that both we and our guests had the best time. From the moment they started playing, the dance floor was packed, and it stayed that way all night!

A special shoutout to Jim, who was an absolute dream to work with. He’s incredibly responsive, detail-oriented, and has an amazing memory, which made the planning process so smooth.

Best Band Ever!!!

When I began the wedding planning process, I knew that I wanted a live band for my reception. I also already knew that band had to be Hoi Polloi. The group had played at a friends wedding back in 2022, and it was the best wedding I’ve ever attended. Of course, I had to book them.

From the start, Jim was incredible to work with. When we went to contract, two of the band members were already contracted for an event the same day as our wedding. Jim was able to bring in two replacements for our reception and they were incredible. People were on the dance floor in between the first and second course. It was the perfect night!

The band also supplied the DJ that we added on. With no prior contact with the DJ, he was the perfect MC and played the perfect music.

I highly recommend booking Hoi Polloi. Your guests will love them, and may even book them for their own party!

Amazing Band - our guests were on the dance floor all night!!!

Jim was amazing to work with from beginning to end. He was very communicative throughout the planning process and guided us along the way. We hired Kate, the pianist, to play the piano during our ceremony and she was absolutely amazing. During the reception, our guests were on the dance floor all night and many guests told us how amazing Hoi Polloi was and asking for their information. We are already checking out their website to see when and where they will be performing next!

amazing performance

Jim and Hoi Polloi was amazing this weekend at my sons wedding at Crystal Point Yacht Club in NJ. The dance floor was filled the whole reception, and the way they engaged our bride and groom and guests was more then we could ask for. Time of Our LIFE - Amazing Band!

To say we were happy with Hoi Polloi is an understatement - they are AMAZING. I wish there were enough words to describe my experience with this band! They performed at our wedding on 10/19/2023 and all my guests were dancing all night! From our first experience with Jim via email to the very last detail as they were packing up as the night ended, they over-exceeded our expectations. The attention to detail, prompt replies to our questions along the way, and all the songs – just amazing. Astounding band kept everyone on their toes, great playlist (to which they played ALL the songs we asked them to include) – everything was absolutely perfect. It was the dream band for our dream wedding and we cannot wait to visit them when they play in Morristown, and hopefully some of our friends’ weddings in the future! Thank you Hoi Polloi for a GREAT time, a time we will remember for the rest of our life!

Amazing!!!

Couldn't have asked for a better band! My family is very picky and they crushed it! Everyone said best wedding they have ever been to. No one left the dance floor the whole night. They are fun and very talented. Definitely recommend you go off of their song list 700 to choose from! They are a master at all of them!! they preform at our country club and crush it there too!

NJ's Best Wedding Band

Hoi Polloi recently rocked out at our wedding and we could not have asked for a better experience! Jim the band manager was extremely attentive to each and every detail all the way through the planning process to the actual event. We opted for the 7 Piece band with the addition of a horn section and female vocalist which was Jim's recommendation, and we are so happy we did. The sound this band can produce in the venue is absolutely amazing. Hoi Polloi also frequently plays at local bars so you can check them out if you want a sneak peak.

We could not have been happier with our band choice, they over delivered on music and fun and we are so pleased to have had them be a part of our special day!

Amazing band if you want your guests on the dance floor all night!

Hoi Polloi made our party what it was! Every aspect of the planning process was so simple with them, from them asking all the questions we'd never think of to learning our Chris Stapleton first dance song, they were so attentive and helpful. We had told them that our number one want was to have the dance floor full the whole time, and that's exactly what they gave us! I can't tell you how many people mentioned that our band was one of the best wedding bands they've ever seen. I'm so grateful we chose them, and that they put their all into our wedding!!

One of our best wedding decisions!

Having Hoi Polloi play our wedding was one of the best wedding decisions we made. They were phenomenal! Jim was so easy to work with and responsive throughout the planning process. We made some song suggestions, but ultimately left it up to the expertise of the band to keep the party going and they did not disappoint! Our dance floor was packed all night long and every song was a huge hit with all 180 guests we had. Our crowd even demanded an encore! They also learned new songs for us, which were played beautifully and made for very special moments. And not only are they amazing performers, but also so much fun to party with!! We had the best time! Have total faith in Hoi Polloi! They are the best!

A Wedding to Remember

I came across Jim and His Band Hoi Polloi after several other bands either fall through or didn't have the sound that I was looking for. Hoi Polloi nailed it. I opted for the horn section to have a 7- piece band. And I am so glad that I did. The sound was amazing, they were amazing !!! Right from the time that I went to listen to them, through the booking process, up to the last song. I have had so many compliments with regards to the band and how great they were. They were so good, that I have already booked them for my 60th Birthday Bash in April. Can't wait to get up and dance the night away (again). Everything about working with Hoi Polloi was seamless, professional, and fun! Amazing Night with the Hoi Polloi

Hoi Polloi is worth every penny

I got married on Sunday 7/3, and Hoi Polloi was an absolute hit. They provided music for our ceremony, cocktail hour (live piano and vocals), and reception (7 piece band). Working with Jim leading up to the day was seamless. We are always very easy to get in touch with and thorough. We had a phone discussion a few weeks leading up to the wedding to go over the planner. The band listened to our requests, and the night of pulled an audible and changed the last song on my request.

The dance floor was filled the entire night and everyone had an amazing time. I could not recommend them more.

I also want to add that they are an affordable option if you want live music. They have a base price and then you can add on additional vocals and horns, cocktail etc. So they have options to work within a reasonable budget. All in all, you will not be disappointed.

Best Wedding Band!!!

Hoi Polloi was an absolutely amazing wedding band, and we cannot recommend them enough! They were a pleasure to work without throughout the planning process; extremely responsive at every stage, put together a package that perfectly suited what we were looking for, and flexible and understanding with accommodating some significant last minute changes to our plans. They solicited input from us to make sure that the music and vibe were exactly what we wanted! Their song list is massive, I can't imagine many songs that they aren't able to play. Wedding guests of all ages complimented Hoi Polloi, and we would recommend them to anyone looking for a wedding band!

Hoi Polloi

I have been dealing with Hoi Polloi for over 20 years. We had them at a house party and it blossomed from there. The people at our house party hired them for corporate parties, their own house parties, family and friends children's weddings not to mention hearing them play at various venues.
Hoi Polloi is dependable but most importantly a lot of fun!! I highly recommend them for your event

Book this band!

Thank you for making my wedding the best day of our lives! As they say, the band makes the wedding and they sure did! They were highly recommended by a friend and the first time I spoke to Jim I knew this was the band for me. Up to the day, Jim kept in close contact answering all of my questions almost immediately and giving excellent suggestions when I asked. They performed exactly as expected and my guests cannot stop raving about them. Everyone was on the dance floor which is exactly how I envisioned it.

Organized, Helpful, Prompt, Friendly, Accommodating

When we started our wedding planning we knew that we wanted a band at our event but did not know where to start. I asked a few friends and Hoi Polloi came HIGHLY recommended. From my first email to Jim I soon found out why. Jim and the band have been nothing but the BEST. We could not have asked for a better interaction. We went to see them play at The Laundromat in Morristown and had such a wonderful time. Jim and all of the band members were so fun to be around, interacted with all the guests there and made it such a great experience which is EXACTLY what we were looking for in a band. Not only is their music OUTSTANDING, the correspondence with Jim have always been top notch. He really truly cares and goes out of his way. We knew we found the perfect band and then the venue search was on. Jim even helped recommend venues and other vendors to make our wedding planning experience that much better. When covid came I reached out to him with some anxiety as I heard from friends that some vendors were not returning deposits or were requiring second deposits. This was not the case for Hoi Polloi. Jim has been so helpful and made the rescheduling process a breeze. His willingness to transfer the deposit and ease of rescheduling took all my anxiety away. Best vendor I’ve dealt with!

I can’t say enough good things about Hoi Polloi. Although they did not perform at my wedding (yet), their professionalism and flexibility leading up deserve a 5 star review. Planning a wedding during a global pandemic has been far from easy, but Jim has made every effort to make this feel as painless as possible. From answering all my questions in detail, holding multiple dates for us, and genuinely being passionate about what they do, I could not recommend Hoi Polloi enough. By far the easiest and most attentive vendor I have dealt with, and I can’t thank them enough for that!

Look No Further!

I first heard Hoi Polloi when they played my friends’ wedding a few years ago. I knew right away that whenever I was getting married, I’d want them to play my wedding. We had so much fun, I don’t think I sat down the entire night. Fast forward to August 2019 after getting engaged I knew right away I needed to secure Jim and the band to play my wedding. We didn’t even have our venue or our date but I emailed Jim right away. Not only was he kind, honest and professional, but he even gave us a few recommendations for our venue when I was having a hard time searching. As soon as we found our venue, we secured our date with the band. When Covid forced us to postpone our wedding, Jim and the band were completely understanding, supportive, and made sure that they would be available for us on our new date. The transition was seamless and I felt so relieved knowing that no matter what I would still be getting married and still have the band of my dreams. I can’t wait until next year!

Caring and Cool

Hoi Poloi was a recommended band through our venue. We went to see them perform (awesome), and chat with them (really friendly and willing to be super accommodating with song choices etc). It was easy to contact them afterward to book our date. They were quick to respond, and have been excellent with communication about the upcoming wedding, must plays, absolute do not plays etc. We were set to get married this October 31 (2020) - then, well, 2020 =(
As soon as we realized this would not be the wedding we had planned for, we decided to rescheduled the date. Jim could not have been more understanding and accommodating when we contacted him about this and with making the change ... We can't wait until we can have the celebration we dreamed of next year with Hoi Poloi leading the celebration!

Book hoi polloi for your wedding!

Our wedding guests are still raving about our band, Hoi Polloi, from our wedding at The Ryland Inn a couple weeks ago! We heard of Hoi Polloi because they played my sister's wedding ten years ago. Not only did Jim remember their wedding, but their prices have not changed since then. Hoi Polloi is beyond affordable and you get way more than you pay for in regards to sound, song choice, and overall responsiveness. From the moment we contacted Jim he advised us on several matters, some of which had more to do with overall wedding plans than the band. He even voluntarily connected me with another bride who got married at our venue! When we needed help making decisions, he provided his professional opinions that were so detailed and well thought out. Jim was great to correspond with regarding timing of songs - we did a short set right after the father/daughter and mother/son dances and I have had several people tell me how that got the crowd going from the get-go. He was so helpful when we were deciding our entrance song, giving his professional take on one song versus another based on riffs and chord progression. When it was time to line up the bridal party my 3-year old nephew decided to walk in with my brother instead of my sister. Don from the band saw from his area on the stage that there was a change and handled it perfectly, demonstrating their flexibility and professionalism. We cannot say enough good things about Hoi Polloi and look forward to going to see some of their shows in the future! Definitely book them for your wedding!

Music in the Air

The band did an amazing job. Here we are a month out and we are still hearing about how great the music was. Hoi Polloi were great from the start! They allowed us to come see them while they performed at another event of theirs and helped in every step of the process, reducing the already hectic planning of the wedding. We threw some song suggestions out there and told them we had full faith in them to make sure the dance floor was full and they delivered. We had a specific song in mind for the first dance and they learned it and played it perfectly just for us. I don't think I will have to refer them to my friends as my friends are already coming to me for their contact info. Thanks Hoi Polloi for the unforgettable night 10/10!!

Look No More! Hoi Polloi is Your Band!

Hoi Polloi is the difference between a good wedding and an AWESOME one!
We knew it after purposefully checking them out at a bar that we found a band that knew how to have fun and would rock our wedding! One after another of our friends and family said it was the "best wedding ever"! We could not sit down all night.
My heart was full as I would look out into our guest seats to see a majority of them were empty most of the night! They simply personalized the day for us and we are forever grateful!
Jim saw our vision and made it happen from the ceremony on through to the cocktail and reception. It was such a pleasure to be comforted and guided along the way by such a patient leader. Each and every one in the band is an amazing musician/vocalist.
We did not want the night to end!

Amazing Band, Couldn't be happier!! Book them now!

Highly highly recommend Hoi Polloi!!!

First, we have no idea how to organize a wedding for obvious reasons. Jim and the entire band was really easy to work with from the minute that we booked them. We were given a package to fill out for everything that they needed to know from names, to schedules, to set up information. They really helped us with the wedding process, the do’s and don’ts and things we should and shouldn’t include based on their vast experience. They even included over 700 songs for us to pick some from. Their response time was rapid fast, their professionalism is unmatched, and their experience performing is at a high level.

Our wedding was in the woods, in the Catskills, and their songs choice, sound and style really made for an unforgettable experience!! Their website and YouTube really doesn’t do their sound justice!

They were open to learning a few songs for us as well, including our first dance, “Ends of the Earth” by Lord Huron, which they hit a home run with and really meant the world to us!!
We got nothing but positive reactions from all the guests on how much the band rocked all night. People were on the dance floor the entire time. They were even willing to play a few more since the reception started a little late, but the town has a sound curfew. So thanks for trying though! They finished the night with some ACDC…Couldn’t ask for anything better.

Overall, incredibly organized, experienced, easy to work with, really made this a fun planning process, and they are awesome musicians. Highly, highly recommend!! Only regret is that we didn’t get to chat with them longer after the reception.

Way beyond any of my wildest expectations!

Hoi Polloi is the best!

Hoi Polloi was the first vendor we booked for our 8/31/19 wedding. They were a recommendation from our venue, but not from their official vendor list. Hoi Polloi had played at the venue a week before we booked there and the employees had raved about them. It says a lot when the bartenders and servers from the venue, who see bands/DJs week after week, recommend a vendor.
Jim invited us to a sound check for one of their events and blew us away. We both left and said to each other that was it. Jim was so responsive throughout the entire process. He never missed an email and was so patient with all the little changes I kept making towards the end. We had ceremony and cocktail hour musicians and a DJ during breaks. All of these were provided by the band and added into the package we worked out with Jim. It was so convenient not having to search for outside vendors for these.
Hoi Polloi is a fun, yet professional band who clearly loves what they do and it really resonates when they perform. The guests had a blast and the dance floor was never empty. We are thrilled to have had Hoi Polloi as our wedding band and would absolutely recommend them for anyone looking for their wedding entertainment.

Outstanding Band for your wedding

The crowd loved them!

Hoi Polloi entertained our reception of about 100 people on August 10th and we couldn't be happier. The crowd was mix of several music generations and many came to us later raving about the song mix and energy. People were rocking right up to the end of the party. We were also very happy with the ease of working with Jim and the band and their efforts in making sure we had names and pronunciations correct. The agenda went off without a hitch. Excellent Wedding Band!

JIm was fantastic to work with and communicate with throughout the entire process. He invited us to a show to watch Hoi Polloi prior to booking. Hoi Polloi was wonderful! There are not enough great things I can say about them. Throughout the planning process they were extremely helpful and when the day of the wedding came, they rocked the house! Everybody was dancing the entire night. Many of my guests say it was the best wedding that they ever attended. They had a huge selection of music to choose from and were able to have all of my guests, both young and old out of there seats and joining in the fun. Easiest vendor to work with!!

From the start Hoi Polloi was the easiest choice to we had to make when it came to wedding plans. We had seen them play at our close friend’s wedding and then at my sister’s wedding. They were fun and really knew how to read the room. They played songs that got everyone up and dancing. We had no doubt that they would be great and they did not disappoint! My husband and I are still getting compliments on our wedding band. They play a mix of classics as well as new hits that had our dance floor packed the entire night.

Jim was our contact and he was quick with his responses and really made the entire process easy and fun. We had a few phone conversations with him to discuss what we were looking for and he went over every detail of the night with us a few weeks before our big day. It put us at ease and we knew the band would be a huge hit with our friends and family. Many of the guests who attended my sister’s wedding also attended ours and they were thrilled to see that we had the same band. Hoi Polloi has an amazing energy on stage and I would recommend them to anyone! They are fun, professional, and the best experience we had with a vendor.

The Dance Floor Was ROCKING!

Hoi Polloi performed at our wedding. They did a phenomenal job. We received soooo many compliments from our guests about the band. The dance floor was packed and rocking the whole time. Seriously, if you're concerned that people wont dance at your wedding fear not when Hoi Polloi is your band.

The band members are awesome and very professional. We dealt with Jim mainly to fine tune the details regarding the wedding.

It was an absolute pleasure working with Hoi Polloi. Not only were Jim and the band professional/made sure the reception timeline flowed smoothly, but also more importantly they rocked the night away! Every single guest was up dancing! You’d be foolish not hire Hoi Polloi. They made our wedding the amazing party and celebration we wanted. I cannot say enough good things about Hoi Polloi; I wish I could give more than 5 stars. From the very beginning Jim was extremely responsive and returned my emails within hours and even while on a business trip. The band was extremely flexible as we had to change wedding dates and then 2 days before the wedding we found out we needed a microphone for our ceremony which we weren't expecting. Hoi Polloi to the rescue! They all showed up much earlier than they were originally hired for and set up the ceremony site. I had zero stress because I knew Jim and his crew had everything handled. Hoi Polloi has hundreds of songs in their library and yet my husband and I chose 2 songs they didn't know for our mother/son dance and father/daughter dance and yet again Hoi Polloi came through and learned these songs for us!!!! Unbelievable!! It's been almost a week now and I am still getting texts and phone calls from people asking for their information and telling me it was the best wedding entertainment they've ever seen. The venues bartender who works weddings year round thanked me for hiring them because he loved the music and appreciated a very talented band. Our guests were up on the dance floor the entire time and didn't want it to end. Hoi Polloi is top notch and I recommend them 1000%!! I cannot wait to visit them at their future public gigs.

We got married on August 25 and Hoi Polloi was our band. They did a phenomenal job! Susan provided the music for our ceremony and cocktail hour. It was perfect. The reception music was awesome. The entire night our guests were raving about the music - how good they sounded and the variety of music they played. We could not have asked for more. Our first dance song was I Found Love. They learned the song for us and we fell in love with the way they sang it. We actually liked it better than the original. Jim did an amazing job as the mc. He kept the party moving and the guests on the dance floor. They were so easy to work with both before the wedding and during. We have had numerous guests already request their information so they can hire them for an event. My husband is already saying he wants to have a party just to hear them again!

As musicians ourselves, my husband and I tend to be very picky when it comes to the quality of live music. Never before have we seen our friends and family REFUSE to stop dancing during a wedding! Anyone would be absolutely crazy to not use Hoi Polloi for their wedding. From day 1 it has been a pleasure working with Jim and all of his staff. It was easy to arrange phone calls since we were based out of CT. They were responsive to all of my emails as well. When the day of came we had anticipated rain and they were so flexible about setting up and getting us ready for the ceremony. Fortunately it didn’t rain and it all worked out! As for the entertainment, our guests have not stopped talking about how incredible the band and DJ were. They kept us dancing the entire time and half of our guests missed dessert because they couldn’t stay away from the dance floor! Jim on the guitar is out of this world, and we had Al as our DJ and he was phenomenal. He did a Spanish segment and the Crowd went wild. We keep telling Eveheone to use them for their weddings so we can see them just one more time!!! I promise you If you have Hoi Polloi at your wedding you will not regret it and your guests will never stop talking about it. They truly make it a night to remember.

Jim (and the entire band) was INCREDIBLE to work with. He was so responsive and took the time to really understand the types of music we would want played at our wedding. And the band even took the time to learn a bit of an odd song for my husband and my first dance. I was the maid of honor in a wedding this past weekend where Hoi Polloi played and let me tell you they were AMAZING! From all the coordination from behind the scenes to keeping everyone on the dance floor and entertained the whole time. Do not hesitate to book them! They were incredible!!!!!!

Whenever we run into guests from our wedding, they always comment on "the band" and how much fun they had. This is "the band" and the best choice for your wedding...hands down! They are extremely talented professionals, will nail every song from Frank Sinatra to Bruno Mars, and have an incredible zest for what they do!! Hoi Polloi learned and performed "The Mighty Quinn" as a tribute to our son - he and they stole the show and we will never forget the memories from that day. Do yourself a favor and look no further...

Hoi Polloi was absolutely fabulous!! My daughter's wedding could not have been any better, the dance floor was jamming from the very first song they played. During the planning process of this big event, people told us the 2 things that really make a wedding are the music and the food and they couldn't be more right. We first saw this band at Mohawk House in Sparta and we booked them that night!! A friends daughter is getting married next June and I recommended them to her, they went to see them and also booked them! They are amazing and a real pleasure to work with. Can't say enough about them. They were just awesome ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Hoi Polloi made our wedding a great one. They brought the energy from the start and kept it going throughout the course of our reception. My 30-something friends loved them almost as much as my 60-something family did. They have a huge selection of music for a wide variety of tastes. They also performed beautifully during our ceremony and put together a cocktail hour playlist with one or two random requests.

Prior to our wedding, Jim Albrecht was a pleasure to deal with. Jim was friendly and thorough, professional in all encounters. You could tell he loves what he does and got us even more excited about our wedding as we traded emails about the song list, equipment and scheduling a time to see them perform in person.

If you're looking for a great wedding band, book Hoi Polloi. You will not regret it.

Check out Hoi Polloi before you look at any other band. My family has been using Hoi Polloi religiously for more than a decade, and the band has never disappointed. From weddings, to reunions to birthdays, Hoi Polloi adapts to any occasion. Most recently, Hoi Polloi performed at my wedding, and the dance floor was never empty. We received the highest compliments on our wedding, with special kudos going to Hoi Polloi.

My husband and I loved Jim and the rest of the band - as did all our wedding guests! We still have friends and family who tell us how awesome there were that night, and we have many friends getting married who asked for their information. We picked them because I am a extremely particular about music, and tend to like a lot of classic rock and more obscure, older stuff - but my husband likes more recent music. Their set list was the most comprehensive we saw, and they were extremely helpful in organizing the whole day in the most cost-efficient manner for us. They worked with me to find the Stevie Nicks song I really wanted to walk down the aisle to, and played it perfectly. Most importantly, we requested that they learn to play our song at a slower pace for our first dance. Even with our picky edits to the first recording they sent us, they worked on it again and completely nailed it the day of. Extremely professional and experienced in the industry to anticipate needs that we didn't know we needed yet. Were very accommodating in finding evenings for us to come hear them play live. And finally, they just freaking rocked - everyone was dancing like crazy all night - the perfect combo that made them appropriate for a more formal event, but played music and made you dance like you were at a concert/bar. Love them!

We were married on November 6. Jim was so helpful throughout the entire process. He helped us compile our music list as well as making suggestions for the best experience possible. The music was excellent as well. They played all 54 songs we requested as well as some other wedding favorites. People raved about Hoi Polloi at the conclusion of the wedding. I would recommend them to anyone! Thank you so much for an amazing evening.

Jim Albrecht is the nicest and most professional guy you will ever want to meet. We had to go over my details and make changes due to some special circumstances surrounding our wedding. He was always upbeat and friendly. We had the pleasure of getting up on stage with them. We also hired the female vocalist. We had fun all night and our guests raved about them!

Hoi Polloi was AMAZING. Planning a wedding is not the easiest thing but Jim (my main contact with the band) and Hoi Polloi made the music planning a cinch. Jim made the entire process from start to finish so easy and stress-free. I continually knew we were on the same page during the whole planning process. His response times were great, they could not have been accommodating and most importantly they kept the dance floor packed the whole night. So many guests commented on how great the band was and how they made the wedding that much more fun.

I would highly recommend working with Jim and Hoi Polloi!

We cannot even put into words how much we loved Hoi Polloi at our wedding!!!

Not only is Jim a pleasure to work with, but he was super accommodating. He helped us through the planning process and made sure we had everything covered. Jim played acoustic guitar for our ceremony and it was fabulous!!! We wanted our ceremony to be unique and boy did he deliver. He even learned a new song for us, it sounded like was playing it for years!!!

During our reception the entire band was amazing! Not only are they great musicians they are also fantastic MCs. The dance floor was packed all night, my husband and I were getting compliments all night while the reception was going on, saying how amazing the band was. The next day it was all people were talking about. Seriously, hire them, you will not be disappointed!!!

Everyone has such a great time ! The band from the beginning was very professional. Not only did they perform great music they help plan the whole flow of the reception and kept things running smoothly. They even learned our song on short notice! We had a diverse group at the wedding and they kept everyone young and old dancing. They were also friendly and outgoing and felt like they were friends by the end of the night !!

Hoi Polloi played at my brother’s wedding two years ago and everyone loved them. The dance floor was packed all night. When it came time for our wedding my husband was hesitant to hire them because he didn’t want it to seem like we were copying my brother. We looked at other bands but could not find anyone nearly as good. I’m so glad we ended up choosing Hoi Polloi again. Jim was so easy to work with. The band learned a few songs for us and made suggestions when we were stuck. On the night of our wedding everyone commented how much they loved the band. Once again, the dance floor was packed from start to finish.

This band was simply amazing!!! They were so easy to work with, and we did some things out of the ordinary, such as the bouquet toss during the cocktail hour, and a general mix up of events. We also gave them our list of special songs later than we should have, and they came through with everything sounding wonderful! So many of our guests told us how great the band was, and I know they handed out several cards for future wedding events. My recommendation is to book them asap if you want to have a night of fun and dancing, as well as a stress free planning process, at least for the entertainment part of your wedding :)

How is it that I didn't write this review sooner?! We were supposed to be married on 11/03/2012 until Hurricane Sandy hit days prior and forced us to postpone. Jim and the rest of the band were incredibly accommodating. Not only were they super flexible with our new wedding date 7 weeks later but Jim even offered for us to come hang at his house (which had power!) the day we rescheduled. The kindness and professionalism they displayed is something you don't find everyday. Not to mention when the wedding finally did happen they knocked it out of the park! Everyone danced the entire night- our goal! These guys are the best!

I saw Hoi Palloi play at a few galas my mom helped host over the last six years and they also played at one of our best friend's wedding. I have never had SO much fun at a wedding as we did when they played. I couldn't get over how many people danced all night. Normally, people kind of drift back and forth on the dance floor and come on for the typical wedding songs. Nope, not Hoi Palloi. Brides, bring some socks or flats or go barefoot if you want. Tell your wedding party to do the same. You’re going to be on that dance floor all night and so will the entire room. Jim goes onto the dance floor and sings among the crowd too, which really gets everyone going. They are absolutely 100% amazing and one of the very first vendors we booked. I knew right away we wanted them and they completely surpassed our expectations. Everyone at our wedding raved about them. The dance floor was never empty and the other great thing was that they dj'd songs during their breaks so I requested more current songs too that guests might like to hear. They also worked with me to learn a Springsteen song that they didn't previously know. They were incredibly easy to work with. Jim always got back to me right away and listened to any concerns I had. It. He was very professional and thorough with the details of introducing family members and the wedding party. He made sure everyone was in order before walking in and took the time to make sure everyone's name was pronounced correctly.It was one of the best decisions we made for the reception. I can honestly say, they made our reception what it was. By 11, the floor was still full and people wanted them to keep playing. I haven’t stopped hearing about how much people loved them and it’s almost September now. If there’s one vendor you book, let it be them. Trust me. They were outstanding.

Honestly, the reception would not have been the same. They made the party happen. Words from one of the guests, "it was like someone threw a party and a wedding happened!" This was the best decision I made for the wedding and we could not have been happier. We love them to death and will be visiting them on their set nights around our town frequently!

HOI POLLOI helped immensely to make our wedding such a fun and truly magical evening! We have gotten nothing but rave reviews about the band from all of our guests, our photographers, AND our venue! They kept the party going all night long with great music and fantastic energy--our guests barely sat down! We would be honored and happy to recommend Hoi Polloi to anyone, and everyone!

Jim was a pleasure to work with throughout the planning process. He responds to emails quickly, and offers great advice & suggestions. Sue did a brilliant job playing piano at our ceremony, and even helped pull off a surprise for the groom! Every member of the band is incredibly professional, personable, musically gifted, and generally fantastic at what they do.

We couldn't be happier with how the evening went and Hoi Polloi was such a huge part of it. They played all the perfect songs at all the perfect moments, and even learned some of our favorites for us! We wish we could go back and do it all over again! My husband and I have seen Hoi Polloi a few times at the Mohawk House in Sparta, NJ. When it came time to finding a band for our wedding we discussed using them not realizing just how many weddings they have played. Choosing them quickly became the best wedding decision we made! After all, music really sets the tone for the whole entire evening. Jim, our contact, was an absolute pleasure to work with. They are full service, accommodating us with a DJ when the band went on break and music during the cocktail hour and very reasonable with their prices. It was a bold move on our part but my husband and I couldn't agree on music to put together a playlist so we left it entirely up to them, only mentioning artists we did not want to hear. The variety they picked was amazing, they hit every genre at the wedding. People actually came up to us and said we had the best song list they have ever heard at a wedding and we had to admit we had absolutely nothing to do with it, the band deserved all the credit. The dance floor was packed all night, my feet had the blisters to prove it! The raving compliments we have received from guests were overwhelming, a few people did not realize it was a band at first because they sounded SO good. I think it is a true testament to the band when people leave the other wedding at the hotel to come and crash and dance to their music.

My husband and I were so thrilled to have found a band like Hoi Polloi. They were amazing to work with prior to the wedding and very accommodating. They have an extensive playlist of songs to chose from and they even learned a few for our wedding! The dance floor was filled the whole time with all of the guests dancing. Best wedding decision we made! You cannot go wrong with choosing Hoi Polloi as your wedding band! During and after the wedding, so many of our guests raved about how much fun they had at our wedding specifically because they loved the band and our playlist. From the start, Jim A (our main contact with the band) was very helpful and responsive. I had tons of questions during the planning process and every time I reached out to Jim, he got back to me so quickly with a thorough response. The band has a wide range of songs they can play. We loved this and we were able to create a playlist that included oldies, wedding classics, modern songs, and country! They also created a playlist for background music during cocktail hour and set up a speaker for that. We loved being able to hand pick the songs that were played at the wedding. The whole band was professional and super friendly. They played for most of the night, barely taking a break. All this from a band that was also very affordable! We went to another wedding where Hoi Polloi played and my husband and I did not leave the dance floor then or at our own wedding! Their energy is amazing and they truly made our night perfect! You will not regret choosing them and we recommend them to any newly engaged couple.

12 years ago my sister got married and had a band who's name I couldn't spell at the time, but who I would NEVER forget! That's the thing about Hoi Polloi, they make a lasting impression and provide an unforgettable experience. I didn't even consider looking for other bands or pricing for DJs, because I knew that the band set the tone for the night, and there was no better group out there to do that than these guys! Jim was flawless in his organization and preparation over the year of communication and planning. He was the next best thing to a wedding coordinator! Their attention to detail, professional approach, and incredible talents are unmatched by any other group. There was not a moment that the dance floor was empty, or a song you wish they'd "skip," or something they forgot from your "must play" list. They adjusted to the mood of the group and the flow of the evening impeccably. I loved them at my sister's wedding, and I still love them now! My guest have not stopped complimenting me on the great selection, thankfully it was the easiest one I made through the whole planning process!

We saw Hoi Polloi perform at a friend's wedding and knew right away that we had to get them for our wedding. They played a great variety of songs that kept all the guests dancing all night long. Jim was great to work with and was very quick to respond and work with us to make sure our wedding turned out the way we pictured it. The band also learned a few songs for us. Wedding guests are still telling us how great the band was at our wedding. They are highly recommended!

Hoi Polloi played at our wedding on August 1, 2015, and we couldn’t be happier with our decision to choose them. Jim and the band were absolutely amazing! From start to finish, they had our guests up and dancing, and were just as excited to be there as we were.
Throughout the year while planning our wedding, we were in contact with Jim to make sure everything was perfect for our special night. They were willing to do anything they could to make sure our night was just what we dreamed about. They learned a few new songs for us and played two mash-ups that I had requested. Which turned out incredible! One was a mash-up with my father and the other was a special dance with my two-year-old niece and the children in attendance at the wedding. Both dances turned out just as I imagined and were flawless.
All of our guests, both young and old, raved about how they were the best wedding band they have ever heard! Guests of all ages were up dancing the ENTIRE night! My parents and in-laws keep getting phone calls about how amazing the wedding was, always starting with the band!
We highly recommend them for your wedding, or any event you may need. I know that most people choose a DJ for their wedding, but that is a mistake. Hoi Polloi is just so much better than a DJ and made our night so personal. We love you Hoi Polloi! :)

This review is long overdo. This band could not have been more acommadating to our needs. From the very start of the wedding, they had the crowd on its feet and filling the dance floor. We had given them some examples of music we liked, and they just took it from there and were spot on with all their choices. From country, to classic rock, jersey shore band, to 80s dance music they can play it all, and created the perfect atmosphere, exactly what we were looking for. They have an extensive play list and are both high energy and extremely professional. Everyone at the wedding was asking the bands name and where we found them. We would HIGHLY recommend Hoi Polloi to any Bride and Groom.

Recently I was asked to give a reference to the band from my recent wedding, so I'm copying my reply to that person's email here, because it's as to the point as I can be..

Hoi Polloi was the best decision we made for an entire wedding, and that's really not an exaggeration. We had our wedding on October 10th in Hillburn, NY. We had the 6-piece band play the reception and Jim play solo with an acoustic guitar during the cocktail hour. Our wedding had around 205 people all very excited to have a great time, and Hoi Polloi certainly delivered. We had great communication back and forth for a few months leading up to the wedding. Jim responds to emails very quickly and has a terrific attitude about everything, always providing some humor to break the stress of planning the wedding. We asked the band to learn several songs, including our first dance, my dance with my mom, and the entrance songs for the bridal party and my wife and I. All were played so perfectly with the exact amount of energy for each song. The whole wedding went so smoothly we could hardly believe it, from when they took their 1 break to get some food, to announcing the whole wedding party with awesome enthusiasm, to even letting my dad, who had a couple beers in him, get up on stage and sing his favorite Bruce Springsteen song to give him his moment of glory. We had at least 2 dozen people reach out to us and tell us they were the best wedding band they've ever seen, and a quarter of the people that attended barely ate dinner because they were dancing the whole night.

You'd sincerely regret not hiring these guys if you are considering it.

I don't even know where to begin! If you are looking to have a wedding where all your guests are dancing the entire night...you can not go wrong with Hoi Pollo. I can not even count how many times someone came up to me at the wedding or days after saying how much the loved the band and "I never dance at weddings but I danced the whole night and yours!" Someone even asked me if I had the setlist! Jim Albrecht was so wonderful to work with during the planning phase, I feel like he is a friend of mine! He is very organized and so easy going. He always made time for me to talk on the phone and responded to my emails right away.

I also had Sue from the band perform the ceremony music. She was wonderful and very helpful with song suggestions as I was having a difficult time deciding.

The whole band was just fantastic. So entertaining and fun!!! We all danced the whole night. They were also a great help throughout the night with organizing all the bridal party together for the introductions, etc.

Multiple friends and family told me that our wedding was "the best wedding they have ever been too" I would have to give Hoi Polloi the credit for making the night so fun!!

Hoi Polloi is super talented and all of our guests raved about the music and how awesome the band was. They are all very friendly and personable and even learned a new song for our first dance- and they nailed it. Jim Albrecht helped us plan our reception night and organize ourselves for the band to ensure that the reception party went the way we wanted it to go. He was very supportive and really went out of his way to help us out and checked in with us throughout all of our wedding planning. Everyone in the band was very friendly and seemed genuinely happy to be celebrating with us. They exude an energetic passion for their music and even had people dancing the night away who normally refuse to get on the dance floor. We had so much fun that night dancing and singing with our guests and the band and recommend them without any hesitation for all wedding and event types.

One more Song! One more song! It's too bad that our amazing night had to come to end. Hoi Polloi, you guys (and gal) rocked! We knew that you would. It's not the first time we've seen you and it certainly won't be the last. Personally, I prefer watching you all dressed up in your pajamas rocking out in your La-Z-Boy recliners, but clearly you're just as capable of putting on an entertaining show even when dressed in formal-wear. You are the ultimate professionals. We requested 3 songs for you to learn/play and you did so flawlessly. We left the rest of the night up to you to read the crowd and we're so happy that we did! The dance floor wasn't empty all night. Our friends and family had an amazing time and they're still applauding you. It's like we were first row at our very own concert.
