Our outdoor wedding for 180 was absolutely spectacular. Working with Michael (the owner) was a joy every step of the way. The food was at the Chez Francoise level, and the service was amazing. I just can't rave enough about our experience with Helga's. All our guests commented about how warm and helpful the staff was during our Reception. A total home-run!

Fantastic food, easy to work with. What else do you need?

Helga's catered our wedding in Middleburg last week. Throughout the entire process, they were helpful, communicative, and easy to work with. We had a lot of vegetarians and other dietary restrictions and they came up with an excellent, delicious, and affordable menu that had options for everyone. They helped us with the layout of the venue and even recommended a day of coordinator who was great too. At the event things went smoothly. All staff was polite and friendly - and seemed to be having fun themselves. We highly recommend Helgas and appreciate their help in getting our special day together!

Exceptional service

We cannot speak highly enough of you and your incredible Helga's team. The care and attention paid to every detail was so appreciated, especially towards us, the bride and groom. You were so easy to work with and patient with answering all our questions, and made us feel so at ease with the entire process, especially when the weather turned and made everyone pivot. You are the ultimate professional and we are SO THANKFUL for everything you and your team did. We adored Chrissy and her leadership on the day of the wedding, and all the staff members were so friendly and welcoming to all the guests. We received so many compliments on the food, especially the appetizers - they were a huge hit. Thank you, thank you, thank you, from the bottom of our hearts. We highly recommend this company.

Exceptional Food and Service

From the tasting to the wedding Helga’s Caterers is top notch. Michael and his staff was phenomenal and the food was OUT OF THIS WORLD. The table decorations were beautiful and Kristy took care of us all evening long to make our daughter’s wedding a day to remember. I highly recommend Helga’s for any wedding or special occasion.

Outstanding

I would without a doubt recommend Helga’s Caterers. We used them for our 80 person wedding and did not skimp on food. The Asian station with Peking duck and vegetarian spring rolls were brought up weeks after the wedding. We had the pasta station and it was decorated with so much thought and care. The beef tenderloin and horseradish sauce was delicious. The staff including the bartenders were so fabulous and professional. I love this vendor. Michael was so great to work with from the taste testing to adding linens and glassware for the reception. His communication was effortless and I knew I was getting everything I asked for and more. Thank you for making my wedding day so special. This vendor is worth it.

Absolutely amazing!

My husband & I thoroughly enjoyed our whole experience with Helga’s from the start of the planning process to the wedding weekend. The owner, Michael, and his entire staff are incredibly professional & provide wonderful services. Everyone at our wedding commented on how amazing our cocktail hour & reception food was! Not a single item on the menu was anything less than delicious. Michael welcomed my husband & I in for a tasting early in the process which was equally delightful — himself & his staff were again so kind & professional. Every little change that came up during the planning process leading up to wedding day was quickly included & noted by Michael & team. We appreciate how accommodating & flexible this team was on a day where there are so many little details. We cannot stress how highly we recommend Helga’s for your wedding. You will not be disappointed! Oh, and the bartenders were awesome!!!

Hurricane Ophelia wedding saved

The weekend of our outdoor wedding, Hurricane Ophelia hit Maryland with driving wind and rain. At 9:00 am on the wedding day, we were told we had to find another venue. We changed the wedding venue 3 times that morning. Helga’s Caterers never missed a beat. They showed up at the new venue on time even though the new venue added 45 minutes to their trip. They made round table cloths look like they were meant for rectangular tables, including beautifully folded napkins. The room looked beautiful, the food was delicious and the service impeccable. Thank you to Helga’s for making the wedding that almost had to be canceled, perfect.

Amazing food and service

We had Helga's cater our wedding and everything from the food to the service was beyond our expectations. Everyone came up to us saying how good the food was the entire night! Besides the amazing food, the service was unbelievable. They helped set up the venue before we arrived and everything was set up perfectly. The service throughout the night was also very professional and well executed. I could not recommend them more for anyone looking to have a large event catered!

Excellent Customer Service

We've used Helga's in the past for several major family events and recently for our wedding, and they were amazing! Michael was able to make our vision come true and was very accommodating to help with minor by important details to make the event run smoothly. The Worry-Free Wedding of my Dreams!

Helga's Caterers were absolutely incredible. We did a very DIY wedding, but the one place we didn't skimp was the caterers. My fiance knew he wanted a Greek buffet, and Helga's "Big Fat Greek Wedding" menu was perfect. But even better than the food was the completeness of the service they provided-- extremely fast set-up and take down, bartending, cake cutting, creating beautiful displays of bread and cheeses, providing glassware, plates, tablecloths, napkins, everything. It was flawless service. They even made a plate of appetizers for my husband and me while we were getting photos taken during the cocktail hour and had a drink waiting for me!

At first I was nervous that Michael didn't seem to be asking me a lot of questions about the wedding, but then I realized that he's done this so many times that he doesn't need to ask-- he knows exactly how to make a wedding run smoothly. I felt so comfortable and relaxed the day of my wedding knowing I was in good hands with Michael and with Helga's. It really was a perfect day!

Simply the best service

Helgas catering was such a highlight of our wedding day. Wedding planning is typically stressful, but Helgas took stress from our lives in every way imaginable. The service we received from Michael and his team is top notch. Any time I’d have a random thought or stressor, Michael would simply smile and provide a list of every way he could make our wedding perfect. He is flexible, patient, and exactly the type of person you want to work with. The value of the food that Helgas provides is unmatched. Our dinner was phenomenal, and guests enthusiastically took every opportunity for seconds. One of the most beautiful surprises was just how gorgeous our cocktail hour was. Michael described to us a spread of fruits, cheeses, vegetables, breads, and crab dip, but oh MY was it beautiful and so much more than expected. They added touches of fresh greenery to the buffet tables, and they arranged the appetizers to where it was almost too pretty to touch. They also took our cookie table tradition with stride, and took our 2,000+ homemade cookies and arranged them in a stunning display. We actually forgot to grab our small tray of leftovers from dinner after we stayed the night at our venue, and we drove over an hour back to our venue to grab them because the food was just that good! Helgas took such care of everyone, with extra attention to my husband and me as we were immediately brought a tray with every drink we could think to choose from and a plentiful spread of appetizers during cocktail hour. Despite having a buffet, Helgas served my husband and me the whole night, making sure that we were treated like royalty. Our guests can’t stop talking about the food, and we are so grateful for Michael and his team for all of their help.

Delicious and Easy

We had such a great experience with Michael and the team at Helga's catering. Their food was delicious (we had their Greek meal with a few tweaks like swapping out for a family pierogi recipe for cocktail hour and got a lot of compliments), and their prices are so reasonable. It's clear that Helga's has been catering events for a long time-- we felt like we were in great hands throughout the planning process and the event.

Excellent Food and Excellent Vendor

Helga's gave us a wonderful wedding dinner. Not only was the food delicious, but Helga's was able to make it happen in a location without water, electricity, or gas. They handled all the logistics - tent, etc, and everything they were responsible for went completely smoothly. They also attentively acted so that we (the bride and groom) got food, drinks, water, and cake despite how busy and occupied we were.

They were even alert to errors made by other vendors and really watched our back to make sure the day went well.

Helga's was extremely communicative and worked with us to have the kind of wedding we wanted. They clearly are extremely experienced and professional and I would definitely use them again for future large scale catering needs.

If you are considering Helga's stop looking and book! From Michael's accommodating and responsive communication beforehand, to the flexibility with dietary restrictions and seating changes, to the beautiful (and tasty!) cake, fantastic service, and special and personal touches like saving the leftovers for us and our out of town family, Helga's is top notch in every way! Helga’s is the best!

I cannot recommend Helga’s enough! From our initial inquiry to even after the wedding day, Helga’s was incredible. Not only are they very communicative and easy to work with but the staff is so efficient, kind, and hard working. Truly a great group of people! Also the food was AMAZING! Our guests couldn’t stop talking about the beef tenderloin and the mashed potatoes but everything was so delicious and served hot! Servers and bar tenders kept our guests happy and full the whole evening. They were on time for everything, helped with set up and making our table dreams come true, and made sure that our champagne toast went off without a hitch. I cannot recommend Helga’s enough!

Wedding Reception

We used Helga’s to cater our wedding reception. It was a small intimate celebration at our house. Chrissy catered our meal and she was amazing. When we returned from the church, she had everything set out and organized for our guests. The cocktail buffet with assorted fruit and cheeses along with Crabmeat Charissa tasted delicious! The dinner buffet with beef tenderloin, poached salmon and vegetable medley were mouth watering. Also very impressive was how Chrissy keep a nice flow to our special event along with cleaning up and storing everything properly. We were extremely pleased with Helga’s catering and definitely would not hesitate to use them again.

If it’s not Helgas it’s not right!

Michael and his team are the best.
Helgas catering took my dream menu and made it a reality. My only disappointment was that I didn’t have more, BUT Helgas went above and beyond and made extra pulled pork for my husband and I a few days later for a great price so we could enjoy more pulled pork (it was seriously the best).

From the set up to the food, everything was truly a dream!

They saved my wedding!

This amazing company saves my wedding after our original venue went bankrupt two weeks before our day. They duplicated the original menu from the previous location down to the apps! The bartenders and servers went above and beyond to make sure our bridal party and all the guests had everything they needed and were happy. Michael the president was always available to answer any questions and helped us finalize all the small details. Linda was always available to answer calls and emails and went out of her way to accommodate us! They made this crazy experience a breeze :)

Helga's helped make sure it all came together!

We had a November wedding at a venue that provided minimal day-of management and with no day-of coordinator or planner and Helga's helped make sure that everything ran smoothly. The choice of Helgas for catering was one of our best choices. The service was great. Amazing price. Tasty food.

From the beginning, they were wonderful with helping with the vision, answering our numerous questions promptly and making concessions for guests with restrictive diets.

They went above and beyond handling things so that we could enjoy our wedding. They always made sure we, as the bride and groom, had food and drinks throughout the night which was truly a special touch beyond making sure our guests were also always taken care of.

Helgas is a family business and you can tell by the way they care about their business and customers. Highly recommended and excellent value!

Helga's Catering surpassed our high expectations for quality food at reasonable prices. We loved EVERY single item on our wedding menu. Unforgettable Experience

Everyone raved about the buffet we had and cocktail hour where our soft pretzels were served out of a converted horse trailer. They we attentive to our needs, responsive at each step though contracting and payment, accommodating for a tasting and suggestions, and a real pleasure to work with. We have found the caterers we will work with for all of life’s occasions! Our wedding would not have been the same without them!!!

We were able to choose just beer and wine to e served and they Made it a point to joyfully serve our own mixed cocktail. They worked with our desserts that were provided and were so awesome with serving our cake. Thank you so much to the team that was there to help us out and learn a new venue!

Helga's Catering makes fabulous food and offers great service!

We are beyond thrilled to have worked with Helga’s Catering for our wedding. First of all, the food was unbelievably delicious, and our guests raved about all of it, from cocktail hour hors d’oeuvres to entrees. I’m allergic to gluten so I was intimidated about the prospect of finding a caterer who could accommodate a completely gluten-free menu, and from the very beginning Michael, the owner, assured me that it would be easy to do, which made me feel safe and relaxed enough to enjoy everything on our menu. We got to customize our menu and Michael was even open to making a Paraguayan family recipe for us; when we opted to have my sister make it instead using my grandmother’s recipe, he was incredibly gracious and the staff even heated and cut our family dish. He made sure we could serve exactly what we wished, and as if that weren’t enough, his staff took incredible care of my husband and me throughout the day. We had a buffet dinner and they offered to make a plate for us, and they checked on us repeatedly to make sure we had plenty of booze and water, too. We ordered cake from a gluten-free bakery, and because we ordered two kitchen cakes, they had those precut and ready to go so our guests could dig in right after we cut the display cake. They plated the display cake quickly, too, and I was able to share a piece of all three flavors with my husband because they made sure mealtime went very smoothly! Cleanup was so quick that I didn’t even notice it happening, and they boxed everything up perfectly, including the top layer of our cake. If you want to serve food that you and your guests love AND you want to make sure everyone is beautifully cared for along the way, we highly recommend Helga’s Catering.

Phenomenal service and delicious food!

A caterer can make or break your wedding... and Helga's knocked it out of the park! I absolutely loved working with them. We had a very tight budget and Helga's was incredibly accommodating to it, while still providing excellent service. They bring a lot of experience to the table, and Michael and the staff were so attentive to every little detail. I came to the tasting with a list of questions, and they were prepared for everything. The food was delicious and I received many compliments from wedding guests. The wait staff went above and beyond - they were constantly thinking of little ways to help guests (and my husband and I) enjoy the day (and keep it drama-free!).

Besides my wedding photographer, Helga's was my FAVORITE vendor! So responsive and thoughtful. If you're on the fence, just do a tasting with them... you won't be disappointed!

Great food

Helga's catering did a lot right and some wrong on our wedding day. The food was amazing and within budget. Lynda, Michael and the staff helped us throughout the planning process and were very accommodating with our special diet guests. On the day of they were able to handle the flow of guests and provide everyone with drinks in a timely manner. Our venue allowed us to provide our own alcohol, so long as we had a licensed bartender to serve it. Helga's provided the bartenders, and they also provided us a buying list based on the number of guests. First off, the drinks were too strong (undrinkable), and the heavy pouring ultimately caused us to run out of liquor. This was particularly frustrating because Helga's had provided us the buying list in the first place. Another issue we had with Helga's was the lack of attention to detail when placing the chairs for our ceremony. They made the aisles too narrow, and there were instances where our wedding party had to go single file, as opposed to in a pair. Thankfully we fit down the aisle as we took our first married steps together, but it was tight. These things did not ruin our night, but they do affect how we view Helga's and the service they provided us. We would recommend them, but would encourage all to make sure they don't make the same mistakes.

Amazing Wedding Caterer

Helga's Catering was amazing to work with for our wedding day! From start to finish, they worked with our budget and were flexible with us in a way that is rare in the wedding industry! The food was phenomenal and their service was top notch! We would recommend them to anyone looking for an incredible wedding caterer!

Thrilled with Helga’s Catering!

I would absolutely recommend Helga’s Caterers. They were so incredibly flexible and accommodating to our every need during our planning session/tasting. My husband and I were so thrilled with the level of service we received and how special they made us feel on our big day. Everything went so smoothly and they made sure to check in to see if my husband and I needed anything throughout the evening. I had multiple guests have seconds or more! They were attentive and so kind to us and our family. I will absolutely use Helga’s again for an event and encourage others to use them! You won’t be disppointed.

A Viking Feast

Lynda at Helga's was wonderful to work with! We had a Viking wedding and they were able to accommodate all of our special requests, including big turkey legs!! I would absolutely recommend them!!

We, along with my entire family (& our guests!), were so incredibly lucky to have Helga's team as the caterers at our wedding. They did an AMAZING job. The food was delicious (i.e. - they nailed our request for authentic Moroccan food), the staff was incredibly helpful and kind, and everything was set up to perfection (as I had pictured & more). Mike and Lynda - the leaders behind the scenes - were both an absolute pleasure to work with individually and we felt so safe in their hands throughout this process. Highly recommend this experienced, professional, and creative caterer.

Michael and his team were truly wonderful to work with . We had a tight budget to work with and Michael was extremely patient and kind. We utilized Helgas for two different events, our wedding reception and a post wedding reception. The quality of the food was exceptional and our guests told us repeatedly how much they enjoyed the food and service. My wife and I wholeheartedly recommend choosing Helgas for your wedding!

From the start Helgas catering made an impression ! They were the first to call and and have a conversation with me vs just emailing me. From then their service was exceptional !
Through the whole process from start to finish they were beyond helpful , working with our budget and many of our diy needs ( I did most of my own decorations !) Whenever I called they always made time for me and either Lynda or Micheal was so patient with me answering questions, changing details , and at times were my sounding board just to assure I had everything covered !
When it came to the wedding day everyone from the maitre’d and wait staff to the bartenders , all were so attentive and pleasant to work with ! I even had to give Francisco ( maitre’de) a hug for his outstanding service which he then gave us such sweet marriage advice ! Lynda also came by to wish us well and make sure everything went smoothly! At one point their was an emergency regarding wine ( we brought our own alcohol ) that I found out way later because my wedding coordinator and Lynda took care of it so fast ! The food was exceptional and our guests still rave on it and was kept warm throughout the wedding ( we had a buffet.)
Overall if you’re looking for catererers that really do focus on their clients and details while giving incredible service Helgas is the way to go! It turned out that our photogragher used them for her wedding and our best man who just got engaged plan to use them for their wedding in September 2018 ! You won’t be disappointed!!

Helga's has catered two of my daughters weddings and on both occasions I was thrilled beyond my expectations! Two daughters to go and I will certainly look to Helga's again. Love the staff; professional but friendly and very easy to work with. Food was outstanding.

I could not have asked for more at our wedding last month. Helga's was incredible, professional, and accommodating. I think all of our guests went back for seconds and thirds, the cake was delicious, there was never a back-up at the bar, the staff had plates ready for my husband and me at both the cocktail hour and the dinner, the buffet and cocktail hour display looked gorgeous ... I could go on. Everything just ran perfectly (with no wedding coordinator) and it really helped me enjoy every second of our wedding. So many caterers didn't even bother to write me back with a proposal while - it sounds silly to say - Helga's acted like they actually wanted our business. Michael and his staff worked very well with me, our DJ, and our venue. I would hire Helga's again without hesitation and would recommend them to anyone.

They did a wonderful job and were very flexible on the day. We had many changes due to weather and they sorted it all out really well and the day was a success! The food was delicious and would recommend them to anyone looking for professional catering!

Helga's did an amazing job catering our wedding! The food was delicious, and the wait staff and bartenders were friendly and attentive to our every need. We had several children attending the wedding, and Helga's had a special children's buffet for them, which was a hit as well! Helga's also helped with the set up for the wedding and the reception. We had originally planned for an indoor wedding, but then changed it to an outdoor wedding halfway through the set up. Not a single people complained, and I had comments about how professional they were with the set up and clean up. We did not have to worry about little set up details, because Helga's had it all covered!

Helga's catered our June wedding - they did a great job! The buffet was attractively arranged, the food was delicious. Michael was great to work with in the planning stage. The wait staff was attentive to details and worked to make the event run smoothly.

Helga's Caterers did an outstanding job and we loved working with them on our wedding on June 19, 2016 . Michael and every single one of his staff members were awesome and very helpful. The food was delicious and Michael made sure we had bilingual staff - since most of our family only speak spanish. The staff really made it easy for us to have a great (stress free) time at our wedding…and for that, we could not thank you enough. We sincerely thank Helga's Caterers for every detail (big or small) that you put into our wedding reception. We couldnt have wished for a more wonderful night. Helga's did a wonderful job with the catering for our wedding. They were confident, collaborative, and responsive throughout our planning process, giving us piece of mind. We love that they are a family-owned business and it shows in the care, attention, and flexibility they gave us. They are the best value compared to other vendors in the area, and the food tasted great.

We ended up having some last minute guest number changes they allowed us to accommodate, and facilitated some difficult scoping conversations with our venue. We highly recommend Michael and his team!

Helga's Caterers did an incredible job for our wedding winery reception from start to finish! They handled everything, and I mean EVERYTHING! They were full service and were able to handle our cocktail hour passed out hors d'oeuvres, our modified speciality cocktail bar, our buffet style dinner, and even our desserts AND wedding cake! It was SO much easier using one vendor for all of our food/liquor/equipment needs. The entire staff did a great job setting up, they were gracious to our guests and helped prepare plates for us and our parents. We were concerned about clean up but they did an excellent job and all of our guests raved about the food. In fact, most guests went back for seconds so there wasn't much leftover food. Now, that's a great indicator of excellent food! We highly recommend Helga's Caterers - Michael, the owner was a delight to work with, and would use them again!

We loved having Helga's catering for our wedding in June 2015 in Northern VA. Michael was extremely professional, flexible and knowledgeable about wedding receptions. His staff did an incredible job. Helga’s Caterers was absolutely the BEST choice to cater our special day, July 25, 2015. The wedding brunch reception catered by Helga’s accommodated about 70 guests. It included an open bar & AMAZING food: all managed by a well-staffed, poised team.

Mike and his group made our day absolutely incredible! Everyone was extremely professional from the onset of our relationship. His attention to detail and sincere willingness to make you live in that moment is authentic and refreshing. They seemed to have a sixth sense about our needs, as their client.

Helga’s held our guests in awe: from the crisp, color-coordinated linens and the perfectly-creased napkins, to the evenly sliced tender beef sirloin and miniature crab cakes (with a *delicious* remoulade sauce). The blended drinks were delightfully smooth, and accentuated with an array of freshly-manicured summer fruits. The entire combination was better than we could have dreamt.

To have such an elite caterer provide an exceptional meal with bartending for a reasonable price is unheard of nowadays. My husband and I had a very tight budget and footed 95% of our wedding costs, so we felt deep relief when Mike assured us of his willingness and ability to help create a 5-star menu within our meager budget. Unlike other caterers have done with friends, Helga’s didn’t surprise us with hidden costs/overhead. For Helga’s, their focus was on the food and satisfying the client. Working with Helga’s Caterers was like working with family – even better, in fact! We are so very grateful.

Anyone who is looking for an all-inclusive, affordable caterer that will provide great food, beautiful linen decorum options and exceptional assistance should definitely book Helga’s.

Helga's did an excellent job at our wedding on 7/25/15! Mike Evans was incredibly helpful and flexible throughout the planning process. He allowed us to do a tasting of menu options and was completely open to changes and substitutions. The food was great, the menu options were extensive, and the prices were so reasonable- much more affordable than any other caterer we looked into! The reception went very smoothly, the setup and cleanup were quick, and the details of the room/decor/layout plan were exactly as discussed before the event. I would recommend Helga's to anyone!

I have NOTHING but wonderful things to say about Helgas Catering! What an excellent experience and easy one too! Everyone was so great and Mike was such a breath of fresh air to always work with. He was very patient with all of our questions and very understanding to dietary limitations in the family. The staff was beyond excellent and their customer service was top notch. We are still getting compliments on the food as well! We chose buffet style and it was delicious! We were very determined to sit down ourselves and eat, and we made sure it happened! :) I also can not stress enough how happy and pleasantly surprised we were with the cost. We had over 200 guests and Helgas catering was the most affordable catering company we found in the Northern Virginia area! Whew!!! Thank you guys for making our day so special and delicious! I highly recommend working with this company!! Cheers!

I highly recommend Helga's Catering after such a positive experience with them catering my wedding reception in June 2015 in Ashburn, VA. Michael was great to work with. Helga's Catering was amazing to work with and the food was delicious! We wanted to do a BBQ-style buffet, but that's about the extent of detail we had reached before meeting with Michael Evans at Helga's. The food at the tasting was absolutely delicious, but the main thing that sold us on Helga's was how comfortable Michael made us feel. We met with him again the week before the wedding and he was very accommodating with the few changes we wanted to make. We felt confident that he would take care of everything, and his demeanor and obvious expertise was incredibly reassuring for a stressed out bride! The day of our wedding was perfect, the waitstaff were incredible, the food was delicious, and the linens perfectly matched the vibe we were going for! We definitely recommend Helga's to other couples and would choose them as our caterer again in a heartbeat.

It's safe to say when a bride and/or groom is searching for wedding vendors, we're all looking for professional, capable, organized, high quality, and reasonable vendors. That's a very hard thing to find, especially in the DC area, but contracting Helga's was one of the best decisions we ever made.

The owner, Michael, is a treat to work with. He's very smart, provides honest advice and feedback, and the food was fantastic. To be honest, food wasn't one of our top 4 priorities for our big day, and we chose Helga's based on positive reviews and their reasonable cost. We were exceptionally pleased with the flavor and quality of the food, and our guests are still raving about it

This is a no-brainer for any couple thats looking for the peace of mind that comes with hiring an experienced, reliable caterer

One of the main reasons we chose Helga’s is primarily because of the excellent customer service of Linda. Followed up with us so that things didn’t slip thru the cracks. Cut us a deal on the price. Was very professional. The actual servers were very professional too.

Helga's catered our 100 person wedding in August and they were amazing. The food at the wedding tasted exactly as it had at the tasting (which I have heard is not always true with wedding caterers). The service was amazing. They kept bringing us water and beer and even made a special to-go box for my husband and I since we barely ate during the reception. They made us a special plate of food for our short quiet time right after the ceremony.

Michael was great with all the logistics. He visited the venue with us when we asked, he made sure every food item was vegetarian (since we had a vegetarian wedding) and was just a great guy to work with.

I didn't have to worry about anything with the catering. My guests raved about the food! Overall, it was just an amazing experience. I would definitely recommend them to anyone who is having a wedding or a large party. My husband and I are going to keep their information for any future parties.

Everyone at Helga's seems to be both extremely patient and professional. This is exactly what any bride needs! I strongly recommend Helga's, especially if you are trying to work within a budget and if you tend to have a lot of questions, as Michael really never fails to field questions with courtesy and patience. Just as important is the food and presentation, which were both fantastic at our wedding reception. The food was delicious and the staff was professional and capable. I especially appreciated being able to count on the team captain to keep things flowing during the wedding reception, as we did not have a professional day-of coordinator.

We worked with Michael for our small-ish wedding (55 adults and 5-6 children).

Throughout the entire process, Michael was helpful, friendly and accommodating. He provided a beautiful spread at an affordable price. His staff were professional, warm and provided excellent service.

Many of the guests told us how good the food tasted. It was delicious. I would use Helga's again for any event!

My husband and I were planning a wedding on a Marine Corps schedule.... from out of town. We didn't have the luxury (or pleasure!) of getting to taste test our way through the wedding planning process to choose our favorite. Instead, we relied on recommendations from our venue, and chose the caterer that gave us the best deal with the best reviews, and was responsive to work with! We chose Helga's after The Briar Patch B&B advertised a special package deal that included appetizers, the main course, china and linen rentals, and the waitstaff/bartender we needed! We never met in person before the wedding day and I'd never even gotten to try the food we selected, but what an incredible experience!

Helga's Caterers went above and beyond both before and after the wedding. Their staff was fun, helpful and attentive every step of the way, the place settings were beautiful, the food DELICIOUS, and their event staff really rolled with the punches! My brother surprised my husband with a keg of root beer soda, and we didn't tell Helga's that it was coming (oversight!). Without skipping a beat, the bartender tapped the keg and started serving root beer. When another family member showed up with unplanned ice cream at the reception to make root beer floats, Helga's staff started preparing floats and table serving them to our guests!

My family and friends had rave reviews about the food, but I can't express enough how big of a role Helga's Catering played in making our day so incredibly special even down to the smallest detail. They went above and beyond to provide a fun experience for our guests, and I would highly recommend them for future events!

Helga's Caterers was easy to work with from the start. Michael listened to us and was able to design a wonderful menu for our wedding reception that was within our budget. He went out of his way after we had started our tasting to prepare a few extra items due to allergy concerns or something we did not really love. We had passed hors d'oeuvre and heard the duck was cooked perfectly. We also served a dual entree dinner which made it easier on me during the planning/ organizing process. We did have to add some veggie meals and then last minute gluten free meals which were not a problem for Michael and his company. I am very glad my husband and I took time to eat because it was delicious! Overall, I would not hesitate to recommend Helga's Catering to anyone planning an event, reception or wedding.

Helga's Caterers did a GREAT job with our wedding in September 2011. Every single person that we interacted with from Helga's was personable and professional from start to finish. We were provided with a tasting that included other members of our families. We were able to customize a menu that we wanted while not breaking the bank. We were not rushed or pressured to do anything that we did not want to do, and I was always able to call or email and have my questions answered without feeling like I was pestering them. On the day of our event, Helga's was on-time, organized, and their food was OUTSTANDING! They also provided our wedding cake, which was equally OUTSTANDING! I did not hear one bad comment regarding the food or the service. I would definitely use Helga's again and would highly recommend them to my friends and family.

Helgas Caterers catered our wedding on 6 October 2012 at Paradise Springs Winery in Clifton, Virginia. The service was very efficient but unobtrusive, the food, which included beautifully prepared and moist Chilean Sea Bass, was excellent. Everyone loved the food from the appetizers, to the pumpkin soup, to the two main courses, to the wonderful cake. I would recommend them highly for any special event, big or small.

Michael and the Helga's staff were a great choice for our wedding. We chose a barbecue theme and they executed it nicely. Their food was very good and consistent and offered a wide range of options to meet our needs. They were happy to meet with the venue for a run-through and to accommodate changes in linens, flatware, and more in the last few days leading up to our event. Michael is pleasure to work with (and his staff made sure that the bride and groom actually got fed!) and the entire Helga's crew made the culinary portion of the wedding carefree.

Helga's provided us with our delicious appetizers, dinner, drinks, and wedding cake as well as china, table cloths and glasses. Everything was wonderful! The food was delicious and the staff were all so nice and helpful. I would definitely recommend Helga's for any event!!

We used Helga's for our rehearsal dinner and wedding reception and couldn't be happier! Michael was very accommodating to our specific requests throughout planning, and he impressed us with his creativity for our wedding day menu which was fabulous! In terms of our wedding weekend, everything was wonderful! The food was incredible - people are still raving, the staff were friendly and professional, everything was on schedule with prompt set up and breakdown. Helga's also provided our buttercream cake which I can honestly say was the best wedding cake I've ever had! We will definitely be using Helga's for our catering needs in the future.

We just got married and Helga's Caterers catered our wedding. We could not ask for better service. They set up both the ceremony and reception cites, were responsive to our requests and any changes we wanted, the food was delicious (BBQ), and the staff could not have been nicer or more accommodating. I would recommend Helga's to anyone getting married in the Northern VA/DC area. Helga's even worked well with our florist (Flowers & Plants) in getting everything set up and taken down.

My mother-in-law used Helga's Catering for our bbq themed rehearsal dinner. The food was absolutely delicious!!! They had brisket, ribs, chicken, veggie burgers - it was a perfect southern bbq with a northern twist (which fits DC!). The staff was very friendly and helpful - cleared plates right away and made sure the buffet was never empty! And like I said before - so yummy!

Helga's Caterers exceeded my expectations. My guests were very impressed with the high quality of service. The food was delicious. The service was fantastic! We all felt well attended to. I felt like a five star restaurant came to us! I highly recommend Helga's Caterers.

Helga Catering did an amazing job catering food for our cocktail hour on our wedding day. They went above and beyond all expectations to make sure all of our guests were taken care of. They arrived early and had food setup on time. They truly helped our wedding day event run smooth and would definitely used them again in the future. The catered food was delicious! Highly recommend them if anyone needs an amazing catering company. Thank you Tom Evans!

I can not say enough good things about Helga's Catering. We used them for our October 2009 wedding at Top of the Town and were very pleased with everything. The food was delicious. I had heard reviews about dried out food, but we didn't have any problems, we got nothing but rave reviews about the quality and quantity of the food. The french service style worked out well and everyone felt very full.

The service was impeccable. Nothing was served late, everything looked gorgeous, and they had a plate of the passed appetizers waiting for us when we got there. The bar service was great, no one went long with and empty drink. Our guests continually commented on how great the selection was, especially the champagne for the toast. We just did the standard open bar. We had Helga's make our cake as well. It was delicious! We wanted a simple design so I am not sure of the range of skills of their pasty chef, but it worked for us.

Everything was set up and broken down in time, they might have been a little too quick to break things down at the end of the night as my mother didn't have enough time to figure out if she had everything before they began shooing her away.

Overall Helga's was a great choice. They were one of the more reasonably priced options and the quality did not suffer.

My wedding was very low budget - so low budget that I didn't know if we could afford a caterer at all. Helga's met our financial needs and provided us with exceptional service. I could not believe we were able to have such nice, professional staff take care of the food for our lunchtime reception. Guests were complimentary of how nice the staff was, and they did a lovely presentation for our small reception. I would highly recommend them!

I was one of those brides that was trying to do everything herself and had no idea where to start. Helga's staff was always extremely professional, friendly, helpful, flexible. On the day of the wedding (when I could only hope that everything would be like I had planned out) the staff from Helga's was flexible, polite, helpful, agreeable, coming over frequently to make sure that my husband and I had anything we might need (food, drinks, etc.) I was really happy with their service and the attitude of the employee's. I would highly recommend Helga's to others.

We were very pleased. There were many compliments on the food and the service was great! The arrangement of the tables and food was very appealing. The food was plentiful as well. I would certainly recommend Helga's to anyone.

Helga's catering provided excellent food with excellent service, which are by far the two most important things to consider in choosing a caterer (within your price range). We were very happy with them. From the initial tasting through the planning phase and to the final wedding day we were very happy with them.

Helga's did a phenomenal job with our wedding reception. Everyone raved about the food and the service! They were very accommodating when planning the menu and answered all of our numerous questions throughout the planning process! Tom and Lynda were both great to work with - you will not be disappointed. A GREAT caterer and at a very reasonable cost.

Friends of ours used Helga's for their wedding and recommended we use them as well... We are excited to recommend them to others, too! We worked with Tom Evans, and since their prices were so reasonable, we figured the food would be mediocre. Our tasting was quite good, and we were pleased with the kind and gracious service they provided us. Tom met us at our venue and advised us on how to set things up. He made great recommendations for items to serve along with our personal top favorites. The day of the wedding, though, the food was even better than when we had had our tasting. Guests were going back for seconds, and everyone was talking about how "even the bread" made your mouth water it was so good! People are still talking about how delicious our food was - and the price we paid was very reasonable, too! I cannot recommend Helga's enough.

My husband and I were very happy with the service we received from Michael Evans and Helga's Catering. We had been exhaustively searching for caterers when my husband came across Helga's. From the moment we reached out to Michael and his team they were very responsive in answering our questions. Michael went above and beyond working with us to build the perfect menu for our wedding, even going as far as to create new menu items to allow us to encompass unique appetizers that held special memories for my husband and I. He was also amazingly patient in working with us to get all we wanted for the wedding in the budget we could afford (including pre-ceremony drinks, late night snacks, etc.). I wanted to be super involved with everything and Michael was ok with that, even letting me go and meet with their distributors so I could see what our tables, chairs, place settings, etc. would look like so there would be no surprises. The day of our wedding everything went perfect and tasted wonderful. I would recommend them to family and friends in a heartbeat.

Michael of Helga's Catering was great to work with. He and his partner Lynda were always responsive and communicative.
They were honestly the best price I got from all the other catering vendors I got quotes from, but they still offered great service.
Food was delicious - they provided bartenders and I heard from my guests they did a great job.
I also heard the cheese plate was great - i unfortunately didn't get to try it because as you know, the Bride and Groom generally don't get to eat much during the night.
But all in all a great experience.

My family uses Helga's Catering for any catering needs, so this was a no-brainer for me! As usual, the quality of service, professionalism and responsiveness were above and beyond!

The food was excellent, but as any bride-to-be knows, that's only the start of the catering experience. The Meridian house is set up to where we had to utilize multiple rooms of the property, and the catering staff worked hard to make sure the transitions were smooth and easy! The bartenders were friendly, the food was delicious and the pre-event preparations were so easy thanks to the staff (and owner) of Helga's Catering.

Excellent food, service, and professionalism!

We hired Helga's for our 70-person wedding. As two people who love to cook and eat, the quality of food served at our wedding was very important to us - one of our top priorities. Helga's Catering did an amazing job crafting our wedding food and even made our special salmon recipe for our guests! Their bartenders were very professional and we got so many compliments on the food (including the vegan food), drinks, and the French-style plated meal meant that everyone got seconds and thirds of the food!! We would recommend Helga's for catering for your event if you enjoy delicious food!!

To my relief my caterer was amazing! The food was hot and yummy and my guests went out of their way to rave about it. I truly felt taken care of during the wedding day and Michael kept a cool head through it all. I did buffet style which I did NOT want to do but realized it was good for my budget...and he made buffet-style appear elegant and organized! They worked well with my other vendors and set up and broke down in a timely manner. I had an open bar and we provided the drinks. There was some confusion with this setup and it did not go as smoothly as I imagined but the guests didnt notice a thing! At times there was not a quick turn around with communication and I didnt feel like they were readily accessible to me but their flexibiltiy made up for it, as they dealt well with my last minute changes.

We received quotes from several local caterers before settling on Helga's. After comparing the proposals between about 6 or 7 different caterers, we felt that Helga's would provide the greatest value for our money. Initial email exchanges took place between Michael Evans, and after we had our first tasting, any questions, concerns or revisions were handled by Tom Evans. After signing our contract we did have some concerns over communication, many of the emails we sent went unanswered and it took asking the same questions several times to eventually get a response. In all though, the food was excellent and memorable, and all of our guests were happy with their drinks as well. The service at the wedding itself was fantastic, and although we didn't make it back in from pictures in time for some of the passed hors d'oeurvres, we heard they were ridiculously tasty.

Really great food and very accommodating. This company also provides a full bar service & table linens if needed. Although at we had a cash bar, make sure they bring more than enough alcohol to last though the night. They ran out of beer for us. :(

Very good food and service. Reasonable prices, too. I also appreciated that the staff wrapped up all the leftovers for us to take with us. The only disappointment I had was that we specifically outlined the floor plan about a week before the wedding, but they still didn't set it up exactly as planned. It didn't end up being a big deal that day, but still a little disappointing, considering that we planned it out beforehand.

Just an ok Caterer. Was dissapointed at my wedding with the food. I had buffet style and found that the food was quite dried out. It was not as good as when I went for the taster. The staff was nice and very flexible to our needs. If I had to choose again I would not pick this caterer.

Ah, Helga's--the food was fantastic, but responsiveness? Forget about it. We basically had to force them to stay in touch with us those precious weeks leading up to our wedding.

The caterer showed up 2 hours late for the walk through for our reception. This should have been an indication of what the service was going to be like during our wedding. The bar staff frequently left the bar unattended (guests were helping themselves) and just like another reviewer noted they ran out of beer at our wedding.

The food was fine, but not memorable. I would not recommend their services.
