Donnisia was great! My husband and I were very pleased with Donnisia as a person and as a planner/coordinator. We needed guidance and someone with connections and knowledge who could make our wedding planning process as less stress as possible, and that is exactly what we got! No matter what questions or concerns we had, Donnisia was always there. She was very involved and only wanted to do what was best for me(the bride). At the end of all the months of planning; me and my husband had such a beautiful and memorable wedding that my guest are still talking about to this day!
    Thank you so much Donnisia!

    Ashley :)

    Our Experience...

Heavenly Engagements (Donnisha) proved to be a huge disappointment evident by the unprofessionalism and extremely poor quality of materials and designs.

My daughter met Donnisha at a bridal show, where the designs showcased caught my daughter’s attention. My daughter shared her vision for the florals both orally and visually. On the day before my daughter’s wedding, Donnisha sent a text asking her to meet her to pick-up the flowers....meet her in Huntsville...wedding in Birmingham. The amount paid in full included delivery. When my daughter inquired about how to keep the flowers fresh, she was informed that all the flowers were silk except for the bridal bouquet (which was not the agreement). She further proclaimed that the designs were still “beautiful and cohesive.” Donnisha also used black ribbon instead the requested ivory, further stating that she did not have ivory ribbon available. Yet another decision forced upon my daughter. When asked for pictures of the final product, the bridal bouquet appeared to be wilted, but she explained that it was ombre as if we did not recognize wilted flowers. Simply because we wanted no drama and no stress, the flowers were picked up in Huntsville. Donnisha provided a $85 refund, which did not compensate for having to purchase new floral designs. Based on the florals, the amount rendered did not match the substandard product received. To our utter dismay the bridal bouquet was received inside a Ziploc bag! All the other flowers were randomly inside of a long brown box. Upon closer examination of all the flowers many flaws were noted. The wrist corsages were assembled with hot glue and the silk flowers were falling apart. The worst design flaw was in the boutonnieres...they were actually made out of foam!

I sincerely hope that Donnisha works to improve the quality of her designs, customer service and professionalism. No bride should ever experience the level of disappointment and stress that my daughter endured on the day before her wedding.

On the eve before my daughter’s wedding, we were forced to find another option for the florals (bouquets, boutonnieres, corsages). Thank God for great friends and family who worked collaboratively to create new floral designs. Despite the obstacle, the wedding was absolutely beautiful and filled with love.

Donnisia TIbbs (owner of Heavenly Engagements) has great reviews thus far but I think it's important for future brides to be aware of the pros and cons of the services provided by Donnisa. I could go on for a while giving full details of my dealings with Donnisia Tibbs but I'm sure that would take a while and future brides may not have the patience to read it in it's entirety, so to sum it up, I am not at all happy about my dealings with Donnisia. Initially she seemed very professional and knowledgeable but that faded away with time. She did not follow through with the majority of my requests, she gave me push back on almost everything I asked her to adjust or fix, she kept trying to impose her ideas on mine (ex. she kept trying to incorporate roses in my wedding since my colors were crimson and cream but I stated a number of times that I did not prefer roses, she even created a centerpiece with roses when I asked for carnations) she was not clear when setting up appointments, she created horrible "save the dates" that were dark and distorted, she gave poor direction and seemed unorganized at rehearsal and the reception. She showed herself untrustworthy so I had to plan my wedding and reception myself with very little help from Donnisia. Even after the event was over, I still had to deal with issues caused by Donnisia. She failed to return some of the rentals and caused me to lose my 500.00 deposit for my reception venue because she didn't clean up to the venue's standards, which she agreed she would do. She expressed no remorse for any of this. Donnisia also told me that she had worked with 2 brides prior to me that refused to pay her the full balance for her services because they felt she wasn't doing anything. (I should have taken that as a hint, but I was too stressed with the planning I had done so far and really needed someone to take the planning off my hands, but that didn't work in my favor). Donnisia caused more stress than she helped. I did feel obligated to pay Donnisia the full balance because I respected the contract I signed. To all future brides, IF YOU FEEL THE NEED TO HIRE A WEDDING PLANNER, PLEASE CREATE YOUR OWN CONTRACT DETAILING YOUR REQUIREMENTS FOR YOUR EVENT AND MAKE THE PLANNER SIGN THAT BEFORE YOU SIGN THEIR CONTRACT!! No one cares about your day like you do, so get your friends and family together and plan your own event like I did and save yourself some money.

    Heavenly Engagements's reply:

Sade, I am sincerely sorry that you have chosen to degrade my business by posting this false information. I'm sure those who read this post will be confused (as I am) as to why you would pay someone whom you believe performed at a 0 out of 100% for your event. I certainly would not do it nor would I advise any of my clients to do so. I also want to thank you for the lovely gift you gave me after rehearsal to say thanks for the awesome job I had been doing. Gifts and payment do not read as unsatisfied to me however, I do understand that you were not pleased that there was no return of the security deposit from your reception venue and that this is the true cause of this negative post. While I do not feel as though there is a need to falsely represent the services you received from me as a means to express your frustration, I understand that events as large and as stressful as weddings can be, sometimes bring out the worst in people. I also apologize for the inconvenience of you not receiving your deposit back but the venue made what I believe to be the best choice after their client allowed the wedding party and guests to leave their facility in such disarray. I would have loved to have been able to negotiate with them on your behalf about the deposit but since you (as you so eloquently stated above) "planned your wedding and reception yourself" and the venue event point of contact (as well as most of your other vendors) had no idea of who I was until the day of the wedding, unfortunately they contacted you to handle the post event duties such as returned deposits etc... Although you are experiencing the aftershocks of taking so much responsibility upon yourself and hindering those whom you've hired to do their job, overall I believe that it was a successful day and a beautiful wedding. I am proud of all of the vendors who worked alongside me during your event to remain as professional as possible with you in spite of the pushback we received and to deliver great results with the resources we were given. I wish you and your husband the absolute best. To future brides who may be reading this post, I did not hear from this client for 60 days straight 90 days prior to her wedding. Every time I contacted her about her wedding, she responded in a way that seemed she was annoyed and uninterested. Things were started off well and we were in full communication but halfway through the planning, she became very closed off and asked that I not contact her and that she would only contact me when she needed me, so that's exactly what I did. It wasn’t until the end of the process that she began to communicate some about what was going on. Brides and clients to be, I cannot stress enough how important it is to remain in communication with your planner/coordinator. No matter what the problem, change of circumstances, opinions or ideas you may have, DO NOT leave them out of the loop! Friends and family are a great resource and I’m sure are always willing to help but if you have hired wedding vendors, USE THEM. You have hired them to take the stress off of your guests, your family and you! In my experience I've found that NO ONE has been successful at wearing the dress and the pants at the same time. So I'll let you decide. Click on my portfolio and look at the first picture in the gallery. Do you see a face of dissatisfaction? Because all I see is the satisfied smile of a beautiful bride.
