    Beautiful venue

    We are so glad we chose this venue for our wedding! The food was incredible with great options during the tasting, and our guests couldn’t stop raving about it. The bar selection was also fantastic and we especially loved the signature drinks that they created for us. The space itself was gorgeous and the views of the bridge and the deck made for an unforgettable backdrop. The getting ready room was accessible early and is perfectly located next to the reception area so we could easily access throughout the night. Even though we didn’t really need any extra decor since the space was so beautiful, they set up all of our personal touches perfectly.

    The team was super friendly throughout, and Sammie was amazing to work with and always willing to find solutions. While there were a few stressful communication gaps toward the end, everything came together beautifully. It’s certainly not a cheap venue, but we felt it was great value compared to other spots in Newport. Overall, a stunning location with excellent food and service that we highly recommend!

    Incredible venue and coordinator

    We had our wedding at Newport Harbor Island Resort (formerly Gurney's) last Fall and could not have asked for anything better. The views, food, and staff were all incredible.

    We had the privilege of having Shannon as our outstanding wedding coordinator- we highly recommend! She was responsive and organized throughout the planning process, and helped us to bring our vision to life. On the day of the wedding, she ensured everything went smoothly. Her calm and collected demeanor was greatly appreciated. We are grateful for Shannon’s hard work and dedication to our wedding and cannot recommend her enough!

    Just Perfect!

    My daughter and son in law got married the first weekend of October. It was the first day of the resort publicly changing its name to Newport Harbor Island Resort, and a hurricane was off the coast. So needless to say, we were a bit concerned, and disappointed with the weather especially. Josephine was our coordinator from the venue. She was outstanding throughout our year and a half of working with her. On the weekend of our wedding, Josephine was calming and reassuring. The wedding festivities took place indoors, and it was absolutely beautiful! The Rose Island Ballroom was gorgeous! Everything was perfect and so many of our guests are still raving about the night! The food was terrific and the staff went above and beyond, anything we asked for, was done immediately. We also hosted a morning after brunch, the same room. It was delicious! If I could plan this wedding all over again, I’d chose this resort again. The wedding was perfect!

    #1 Venue and Service in Newport, RI!

    Where do I even begin?!? I really could not have pictured a more perfect wedding and I owe a lot of that credit to Josephine Gandolfo. My now husband and I met Josephine in July 2021 to tour Gurney's premises and I really think she's about 75% of the reason we chose Gurney's for our wedding location. I truly cannot say enough good things about Josephine. I plan events for a living so clearly have a million questions and Josephine answered every single one with so much patience and kindness. She helped us make some really tough decisions throughout the planning process and also helped me calm down when I was overthinking things (which was often!). Everyone I came across at Gurney's was extremely friendly, very professional and SUPER accommodating. Josh was assigned to managing my hotel room block and he was outstanding. He was so awesome with all of my requests and his response time was unbelievable!! The weekend of my wedding couldn't have been more perfect. Josephine was there for us every second and REALLY helped me on the wedding day due to some difficult weather decisions. It turned out absolutely beautiful. Everything from the ceremony on the lawn, to the cocktail reception on the deck and the reception in the Rose Island Ballroom was just breathtaking. The grounds at Gurney's are absolutely beautiful, the staff was outstanding, and the food/drink were DELICIOUS. You cannot go wrong with this venue (especially if you're working with Josephine!!!!!). Our friends and family keep telling us it was the absolute best wedding they've been to and I can't disagree! THANK YOU GURNEY'S for making our wedding weekend the best time of our lives!!

    Wedding 11/6/21

    Best experience. Kris Shea was instrumental in creating the wedding we were always hoping for. She went above and beyond and Gurney’s staff, food and bar service were impeccable. The venue and view were priceless.

    Perfect Rehearsal Dinner & Brunch!

    We stayed at Gurney's for the weekend of our Son's wedding and held our rehearsal dinner Friday Night at the Waterfront Pavilion next to Gurney's & Brunch at Gurney's on Sunday. We cannot say enough good things about Gurney's Services and especially Kristine Shea.
    We started planning a year before & Kris was responsive and helpful with all our questions. Kris was the ultimate professional and made planning our rehearsal dinner and brunch both fun and easy. She coordinated all the vendors we used and made sure everything was perfect. She was available all evening of the Dinner which allowed us to totally enjoy the evening. She even was there to help out early Sunday morning at the Brunch.
    The wedding was nearby and our stay at Gurney's was fantastic. Everyone there were helpful and professional for all of our requests and needs. All the Gurney's staff helped make our wedding weekend a dream come true!

    So incredibly happy we chose Gurney's for our wedding!

    From the time we arrived to our wedding weekend until we left, the staff at Gurney's Newport were incredibly helpful and kind to us and all of our guests. In terms of the wedding planning experience, they were so flexible, easy to work with, understanding when we had to postpone 1 year (and did not charge extra for having to rearrange our plans). Josephine, our coordinator, really worked with us to make sure we had exactly what we wanted for the day, was extremely responsive and professional in the planning process. I truly felt like I as the bride could relax on the day and everything was taken care of.

    An awesome location for wedding guests!

    My daughter’s wedding in Newport, RI proved to be an amazing experience! Kudos to the staff at Gurney’s Newport Resort and Marina for make our wedding guests’ stay comfortable and relaxing. The location of the resort with its panoramic view of Narragansett Bay couldn’t be better. I hope to revisit the resort in the not too distant future.

    The perfect wedding weekend!

    Our wedding was everything we dreamed of and more! We held a welcome party, wedding reception, and post wedding brunch at Gurney’s this June (2021) and we could not be happier we picked this venue. The hotel is absolutely gorgeous and you’re served beautiful views of the newport bridge and marina from every angle. The food was amazing at all 3 of our events and the service was even better! Our guests are still talking about how wonderful everything was and we truly had the time of our lives.

    Mini wedding

    Kris was so very helpful getting everything organized during these weird Covid times! She was very professional and made everything really easy. She made us feel like royalty the entire weekend of our wedding. Kohl at the front desk is the most professinal and polite front desk attendant I have ever met and was super helpful, and remembered who we were and details about us all weekend, providing that personalized touch. Sloan and Matt were also extremely professional and amazing bell boys, who also provided that personalized service and made us feel extremely special on our wedding weekend. Aly in the seawater spa did an amazing job on my wedding nails and picked the perfect color for me. Our server in the restaurant for dinner was also fantastic, handled our party of 12 with grace,and no one was ever without a refilled drink. All around the experience was amazing and we will likely stay for anniversaries to come!!

    Perfect place to day I do!

    My husband I got married in August 2019 at Gurney's Newport Resort & Marina and we couldn't have asked for a better experience! From our first planning meeting with Amira to our final details meeting with the banquet staff we were impressed with their communication, promptness, and care for our wants/needs. There was never a doubt everything would be perfect. The food was phenomenal, especially the Filet Mignon, which my guests are still talking about! On top of hosting our ceremony, reception, and farewell brunch at Gurney's, many of our guests also stayed on the property. I have heard nothing but rave reviews from all hotel guests about how friendly and accommodating the staff was! As a bride all you want is for your guests to have an unforgettable time, and Gurney's Newport Resort & Marina delivered. They made my job as bride easy!

    Worth it just for the views!!

    Getting married at Gurney's Newport was amazing, ten stars across the board! From our first meet and greet to the final goodbye was said the morning after, everything was perfect. The team's professionalism and attention to detail was superb during the entire planning process. Jacquelyn was there for every step, even for my many after-hour questions and crazy ideas. During the day of the event, Jacquelyn and her team had every aspect covered. Even when the wind kicked up during the ceremony, they dropped everything (literally their radio and name tag) and were there to help me get down the aisle without blowing away. The location was beyond perfect, on the lawn with the bridge in the background was beyond perfect in every way. The venue it’s self was beautiful, inside and out. And the food – it was beyond what we expected, guests are still raving about their meals. We had the opportunity to have an after-party which was also very accommodating from food to the entertainment of the fire-pits, etc. And the next morning we had an amazing breakfast in the same room we hosted our wedding. Our out of town guest loved the experience and even talked about coming back for their own vacations in the future. I could not have asked for a better experience with Gurney’s Newport. If I could do it all over again, I would in a heartbeat and would not change a thing!

    5 Star Wedding Venue

    As my husband and I sit down to review our wedding weekend (9/6/19-9/8/19) at Gurney's Newport we don't even know where to begin. It was nothing short of amazing and we have Jackie and the entire staff at Gurney's to thank. Coming from NY, the Gurney's name sells itself but the team went above and beyond and provided top tier personal and professional 5 star services. Not only were the grounds and views unbelievable so was the food and service.

    We planned 3 days of events at Gurney's for our wedding weekend from NYC. Planning an entire weekend for 200 guests from out of state was not easy but Jackie (Catering Sales Manager) made it extremely seamless. Talking to Jackie is so fun and when I got stressed her attitude made me feel better and reminded me of the importance of the weekend. We instantly clicked and felt like she was a part of our family.
    We hosted our rehearsal dinner in Scarpetta and the food was delicious and the staff was top notch. The views from the private room were amazing and our guests couldn't stop talking about how terrific the entire experience was. Thank you again to the manager and waiters that worked with us!!

    We also hosted Welcome Drinks in the Regent Lounge. Our event was supposed to take place outside on one of the decks but unfortunately because of Hurricane Dorian we had to move the party inside. The indoor lounge was just as beautiful and they even blocked off another portion of the lobby for our guests. It even had space for our social media photobooth! The staff in the lounge again was so on top of it - we had over 125 people in and out for 2 hours and nothing fell short.

    We hosted almost 200 people for our ceremony and reception. The grounds by the lighthouse were amazing and we offered water and champagne to our guests as they arrived to the ceremony. Our cocktail hour took place on the deck attached to the Rose Island Ballroom - talk about breathtaking. I had expressed my concerns to Jackie and Kelly in regards to our guest count and lines at the bar. We did not want people jammed at the bar waiting for drinks. They added extra staff and even made sure they put beer in bins next to the bar to reduce the lines. No one waited more than a minute for service with 200 people which is extremely impressive. The passed hors d'oeuvres were extremely delicious - my father pointed out how well trained the team at Gurney's was because they made sure the people standing by the door where the food came out weren't the only people to get food. They circled the entire deck and everyone was able to have their share.

    My favorite part of the cocktail hour was the special touch I asked the team to make happen - we offered a Coastal Cocktails bar where guests could choose between white wine and Whispering Angel rose and choose from 3 different ice pop flavors. We worked with the Chef and Jackie to make this happen and our guests were blown away!!

    The staff continued to run a streamlined event at the reception. Everything went extremely smooth and if something happened my husband and I had no idea. The Rose Island Ballroom is breathtaking and again the staff went above and beyond to execute in every way.

    We hosted brunch the following day in the Rose Island Ballroom and again the food was delicious and the staff was extremely attentive.

    Shoutout to the room block team as well - they were extremely helpful throughout the entire planning process and always available to our guests when booking.

    I also lost my wallet that weekend and another shoutout to the front staff and porters who kept an eye out and thanks to Megan at the front for finding it a few hours later!!

    We could go on and on about the impressive customer service, little touches and execution we experienced but then no one would read this because it would be too long.

    We cannot thank Jackie, Kelly and the entire staff enough at Gurney's for a phenomenal weekend!

    Absolutely Amazing!!!

    My son and my daughter-in-law had their wedding at Gurney's Resort in Newport this past weekend. I can't say enough good things about our experience there. The quality of service, food, professionalism of the teams, and over all experience at Gurney's was impeccable! Everyone there was truly amazing and I would recommend this venue to everyone & anyone looking to have their wedding there! Their wedding was absolutely perfect from beginning to end.

    Great experience!

    We worked with Jackie as our wedding coordinator and she was really great. Very responsive (answered the 20 emails a week I would send) and was always trying to make things easier for me. It downpoured the day of our wedding and they made sure we still got to do everything we wanted. Highly recommend.

    Wedding Room Block

    We used Gurney's for our wedding room block for our wedding at Belle Mer. We worked with Nicole and she was AMAZING!!! First, the hotel is GORGEOUS so your guests will love it. They were also so easy to work with and flexible whenever we needed anything. They were always super quick to respond to both me, as well as address any of my guests needs. My husband and I will definitely be going back as often as we can! I would recommend staying at Gurney's 100 times over!

    Don't Hesitate!!

    Don't hesitate for a second! We had our wedding here this past New Years Eve and it was a dream come true. We had a bumpy start, but Gurney's was our top choice for our wedding as it has been a special place for us of NYE the past 10 years so we were beyond excited when the date opened up. Once Jackie hit the scene it was absolute perfection. I can't say enough positive about Jackie... she saved my sanity on multiple occasions, made me feel SO comfortable with everything from start to finish and became a friend throughout the craziness of wedding planning. Jackie was such a pleasure to work with, I genuinely miss talking to her weekly. She made sure I was on top of everything, letting me know what I needed to do by when and gave me plenty of information about next steps, advice if I needed it and was a true expert. I will never be able to thank her enough for helping make our wedding the best day of our lives and the process truly enjoyable and fun. Come wedding weekend I was able to relax and enjoy every second because I knew Jackie, along with Marissa the Banquet Captain, had it covered. I was right, everything was PERFECT. Not one thing went wrong and if it did, I still don't know about it. The whole weekend was fantastic thanks to everyone at Gurney's from the front desk staff, especially Ashley and Hanna to the valet/bellmen - Rob, Dave, Matt and Sloan. Everyone made sure our guests were taken care of, our car was always available and welcome bags were distributed among many other things such as bringing up a room key (multiple times, sorry Matt & thanks!!). Many of our guests took the time to tell us how impressed they were with Gurney's and the staff as well as what an incredible job they did with our entire wedding weekend, including a post wedding brunch that was out of this world! I will be forever grateful to everyone at Gurney's for making our wedding so incredibly special and perfect. Like I said, don't hesitate for a second, if you're looking for a gorgeous setting with first rate staff, you'll find it at Gurney's.

    Wedding Gurney's Newport

    We had our wedding at Gurney's in Newport this past September. It was a destination wedding weekend for us with 140 guests, many who stayed at Gurney's with us. Everything was beyond beautiful. The location on the water is stunning. Amira, Nicole, Kelly, Madalyn and the entire staff worked with us from start to finish to make sure our weekend was a perfect 10. Everything the day of ran flawlessly, which made it so that we never had to worry about anything except having a great time. This was a second wedding for both of us, so many of our guests have been to a number of weddings before and I can't tell you the number of people who said that this was the best wedding that they had ever been to and how they can't wait to return to Newport and Gurney's.

    I have nothing but amazing things to say about Gurney’s Newport. I got married this past Friday and the whole experience has been more than I could have ever dreamed of! From the amazing staff to the beautiful location to the incredible food to the complimentary things that we received for booking out wedding there. Also the suite that we were given for the night, that was also complimentary for the wedding night, was so beautiful. They made us feel like royalty! We plan on going back very soon!

    We just got married at Gurney's on 9/29/18, everything was amazing! The weather turned out great, the staff including Nicole, Madalyn and Amira ( the coordinator) helped us through every step of the way, they were very responsive, gave great room rates and attended to every single detail. If you are looking for a New England beautiful spot to get married Gurney's is the place to go! So picturesq!

    Our wedding at Gurneys Newport was a 10 star experience. The team's professionalism and attentiveness to detail helped put us at ease during the planning process. They were there for us every step of the way and answered any question or concern we had. During the day of, the staff was there to ensure the day went as planned and everything was perfect! We had our reception on the front lawn overlooking the bridge and lighthouse while Newport's famous sunset painted the sky. The wedding venue itself is beautiful with a modern, updated ballroom overlooking the water. The food was delicious and the venue had plenty of options for us to choose from. Our out of town guests loved staying at Gurneys and enjoyed the property. The staff truly was amazing and we couldn't have asked for a more perfect wedding weekend. We can't wait to come back and visit!

    Our wedding at Gurney's was an absolute dream. Between the venue, food, drinks, views....you name it! Our wedding coordinator, Jacquelyn, was beyond professional, responsive and organized throughout the entire planning process and ensured our wedding day was seamless! I honestly didn't have a single worry during our wedding day because I knew we were in great hands. I highly recommend this venue to anyone who is looking for a Newport wedding!

    This wedding was the greatest day of my life! Alexandra Horton was AMAZING! I can't speak highly enough of her. From day 1 she super exceeded all of our expectations. She went above and beyond every step of the way. Friendly, assertive, and very professional! Emily made our stay exceptional for all of our guests. Thank you! The venue itself will blow your mind. It has by far the best view on the island and all the staff will blow your mind! The food is outstanding, the accommodations were clean and the view was amazing! I want to give 11 stars! Way to go Gurneys!

    This is the best place to get married in Newport. It checked everything on our list for our special day & made all of our guests really happy too. Kirby Coheeny planned our wedding from the very beginning & was there for us for everything we needed on the day of our wedding. She recommended other vendors to use in the area and they all turned out great. You could tell that she & others at the Newport Hyatt have a ton of experience & really go the extra mile to make sure you get to enjoy your day. You can't beat the beautiful backdrop that the Hyatt offers. All of our guests felt at ease knowing that the Hyatt would take care of transportation to our rehearsal dinner, our guests hotel, our wedding ceremony, reception & even breakfast the next morning. We will never forget our special day & a huge reason is because we decided to have our wedding at the Newport Hyatt!

    The Hyatt Regency Newport was the perfect place for our summer wedding. The venue itself is picturesque, the food was delicious, and the event ran smoothly throughout the night without any input from the groom and myself. One of our favorite features of booking at the Hyatt was having access to their wedding planner, Kirby Conheeny. She is by far the most organized, enthusiastic, and passionate wedding professional that I have ever had the pleasure to meet. Our engagement was two years long, and Kirby was there to answer questions every step of the way, especially as we got closer to the date and my questions got more specific and more frequent. She accommodated every request that I made. On the day of the wedding, she was there to make sure that everyone was in the right place at the right time, and her demeanor made everyone feel happy and calm. I absolutely loved my wedding at the Hyatt, and most of it had to do with Kirby's superb planning abilities.

    I could probably write a novel about the amazing experience I had from holding my wedding at the Hyatt Regency Hotel with the assistance of the amazing Kirby Conheeny as my wedding coordinator. Trust me when I tell you that my husband and I went to every single wedding venue in existence in the Newport/Bristol/Portsmouth area. We started looking almost a year and a half before our wedding date. I cannot tell you how many people we met with to find a potential venue. It seemed as though we liked a few of them, but nothing really made us feel like, "YES! This is the one!" From the moment we met her, we instantly clicked. She was so personable and made us feel like she was more of a friend helping us plan the wedding that we wanted, rather than just working for a paycheck. In fact, I probably should have have asked her to be one of my bridesmaids, that's how comfortable I felt with her. She was willing to work with our budget, she's highly organized, and she definitely helps steer you in the right direction if you're ever having trouble making a decision(and I am terrible at making decisions). I really must say that the whole process of planning a wedding was made so much easier with the help and guidance of Kirby. My good friends who had gotten married before me would always complain about waiting to hear back from an e-mail or phone call they made to their wedding coordinator and I saw how much stress it had caused them. Luckily, I didn't have to experience any of that stress! Any question or concern I had was addressed in a prompt manner, and I never ever felt like I was being ignored or neglected.Kirby is on the ball all of the time. She is so organized that it makes wedding planning what it should be - fun and stress free. She makes sure she is available to you when you need her.I wouldn't have wanted anyone else helping me plan and actually be there on my wedding day. She made sure Kevin and I had the best wedding we could have imagined - and we did!

    My wife and I got married at the Hyatt Regency in May and the weather could not have been any more perfect. There was a chance of rain but thankfully it held off until after the ceremony and the view that the cloud coverage provided with the Newport Bridge and the lighthouse in the background was absolutely stunning! The location of the ceremony itself is in the perfect location if you have the lighthouse in the background with the sailboats driving around in the harbor.

    Working with Kirby, Scott and the entire Hyatt staff was very relaxing and they made everything run so smooth. They were very timely with their responses to emails and phone calls and they always had an answer for everything. If you choose to have your wedding here, you will not be disappointed in the slightest bit.

    I highly recommend this location as a wedding venue, not only because of the location and the view but because of the awesome people that you get to work with. You can't go wrong with the Hyatt Regency on Goat Island!!

    Our contact person for the Rehearsal Dinner was awesome! She was very nice, professional and responsive. She helped us with all of our needs. We did a clambake on the deck for our rehearsal dinner. The food was amazing and was a great variety. The bartender and wait staff were equally incredible. They made the night truly amazing. It's not often that you hear people rave about the view and food for the rehearsal dinner - but we are still getting compliments about it.

    I had my wedding at the Hyatt in Newport, RI in September. I just wanted to say it was an awesome wedding!!! Planning the wedding from start to finish was made so easily with staff at the Hyatt. I want to than Kirby, Anne, Kendall and the entire staff at the Hyatt. The staff was so welcoming and helpful. The food was delicious at the restaurant Windward Restaurant and at the wedding. My guests loved the food!!!
    The wedding ceremony was outside by the lighthouse, we loved the location. Beautiful for pictures!!!
    We had an awesome sunset for cocktail hour and it was nice for us and our guests to be able to relax on the outdoor deck and look at the ocean.
    The reception was in the Rose Island Ballroom. It was just the right size for the amount of people we invited. The staff at the reception was very attentive to everyone!!
    I would recommend the Hyatt to anyone who would like to have a wedding in Newport, RI.

    We were married at the Hyatt on 8/2/14. It was pouring rain most of the day but that didn't stop the Hyatt from making our wedding absolutely perfect! Our wedding coordinator Kirby was the absolute BEST. From our first meeting until our wedding day she was so great to work with. Always promptly responding to calls and emails. The service was outstanding, the staff always made sure the bride, groom and our parents had whatever we needed at all times. The room was gorgeous! Our guests have not stopped raving about the food, it was so delicious. My husband and I did not get to eat much during the reception but the Hyatt put two hot meals in our hotel room for us to eat after the wedding was over. It was perfect.

    I would recommend the Hyatt to anyone for their wedding venue. It is an all around 5 star venue with the best staff!

    Loved this place. The first thing that caught my attention about the Hyatt was the lighthouse on site. I love lighthouses, and after visiting the venue I fell in love with the grounds, from the ocean scenery, the bridge, and the flexibility of the staff to accommodate the needs of the customers. The time leading up to the wedding day (from the day we signed the contract to the day after the wedding) they were there, helping anyway they could, and always there. They offered help and helped ease any concerns or stress. They worked with us to make it the best day possible. We had someone with us throughout the entire planning process and the day of. They even helped bring all the personal items to our room at the end of the night. They got to know us. Our team were, like friends: they seemed excited for my husband and I, which made the experience better. Imagine a team of people helping plan your wedding day, one of the biggest days of your life, and they are just as excited and care about the details and perfection of the day.
    My friends and family have not stopped talking about how great the place was, how beautiful it was, how delicious the food was, the staff were on point, and the day was amazing.
    I am a vegetarian with a severe gluten allergy and my mother has Celiac disease, as well as my husband's aunt, the Hyatt staff were highly concerned in making sure everyone could eat and had a delicious meal without health issues. They even helped organized a gluten free cake. I was able to cut and eat my wedding cake, which was a big deal to me.
    I could go on and on about the Hyatt Regency on Goat Island in Newport.. The quality is well worth it, and might I say for Newport what you get is beyond what other venues offer for the price. If you want a beautiful place on the water with a scenery, great staff, amazing food, and a great wedding, consider the Hyatt and ask for Kendall shes the best!

    Our wedding at the Hyatt was amazing and memorable!! Our guests keep ranting and raving about how it was the best wedding they have ever been to because of the food, friendly staff, atmosphere, and the breathtaking views. Kirby and Carl (our Captain) were such a pleasure to work with. From the moment we saw the venue, my husband and I knew the Hyatt was for us. Kirby was extremely thorough and prompt. She always responded to me within a few days. The weeks coming up to the wedding she was always available and helpful. The day of our wedding, everything was perfect. The staff did a great job with creating my vision and I wouldn’t have changed anything. The food was phenomenal and the view was spectacular. The only compliant I had was that not everyone, including myself, were able to eat or finish our meals due to the wait staff clearing the tables; however I would not put the blame on the staff as our guests were either too busy dancing or outside!

    If you want your wedding to be memorable, fun and enjoyable you need to go to Hyatt in Newport. It is a day we will remember forever. All we heard from guests was how great the food was, how amazing the staff was and how much fun they had. Kirby, Kendall and Ella were a dream team to work with.

    Our wedding at the Hyatt was amazing!!! This is the perfect venue for a wedding, all of our guests enjoyed their stay. The staff did a wonderful job assisting us throughout the wedding process.     We worked with Kirby to plan our wedding, and Matt was the Captain, and we loved both of them. It was the PERFECT day! We planned the whole thing in about 6 months, and I couldn't have asked for a more fun wedding. Everything was so easy and ran smoothly, and they treated us like royalty. I wish I could do it all again!

    I held my son and new daughter in law's brunch the day after their wedding here. It was beyond my expectations and flawless! The food was plentiful, hot and fresh. The tables were set beautifully and the centerpieces from the night before looked elegant. I would not hesitate to cater any affair large or small with Kirby Conheeny. She is professional, knowledgeable and a pleasure to work with. The staff that worked the brunch were attentive and very polite. I would give the entire experience 5 stars!!! FYI, They prepared the crispiest tater tots on the planet and my guests left smiling!

    We recently held our wedding at the Hyatt Newport Hotel, and we cannot say enough good things about the venue, the staff, the location, the food and the entire experience. In particular, our event manager Steven James was beyond extraordinary. I think it is very rare in a business like Steven's where he manages countless weddings each year to find someone who makes you feel like your wedding is the only wedding he is working on, and he did just that. Steven went above and beyond to help us plan our perfect day, and the entire venue did not disappoint. He made planning fun with helpful suggestions, his availability, and general excitement for his job. Steven's enthusiasm was one of the main reasons we chose the Hyatt. We held a "wedding weekend" at the Hyatt with a large room block for our out of town guests, a bridal luncheon at the Hotel restaurant, and our actual ceremony and reception. The venue alone is surrounded by gorgeous views of the bay with a serene setting at the lighthouse for the ceremony. The Rose Ballroom and adjacent deck were the perfect place for our reception. Our guests continue to rave about the food including our cocktail hour raw bar. The food is not at all mass produced for a big event...it was delicious, and the Hyatt offers ton of options. They had no issue dealing with allergies for some of our guests. We researched several venues for the wedding, and without comprising anything, the Hyatt was a great value for the area. Steven went out of his way accommodate us on our wedding day from arranging food to be sent up to the suites to helping us "not be seen" by our guests before the ceremony every little detail was planned out. The Hyatt has a longer window of time for your actual reception than most! We would recommend the Hyatt and specifically Steven James to anyone looking to have a fantastic, fun, beautiful, stress free wedding in Newport. You cannot go wrong!

    The Venue was such a beautiful place for a wedding. The ceremony area was amazing. The decorating of the reception room with the white chairs, white sheers and lighting made the room look very romantic.
    Even the food from cocktail hour to the reception was amazing. Everyone is still talking about how good the clam chowder was.

    We recently held my daughter's wedding reception at the Hyatt. I can't say enough about how satisfied we are. The venue is in a beautiful location and the Rose Island room is breathtaking. The staff is exceptional. Our coordinator Kirby made planning the event effortless. She was prompt, courteous and accomodating through out the planning and on the day of the event every thing was seamless. Our Captain Gretchen and her staff provided exceptional service to us and our guests. I have received nothing but rave reviews from our guests. I would highly recommend the Hyatt as a wedding venue.     The wedding planner Kirby, her intern Jane, and catering manager Gretchen were absolutely excellent! We cannot praise them enough, they were extremely helpful, professional, responsive and friendly. After our reception, my husband and I did not want to leave...Gretchen let us stay at our sweetheart table for At least an hour afterwards, she brought us the dessert we never got to eat and more champagne.

    Kirby really took the time to get to know us and was so enjoyable to work with. My husband and I truly felt like royalty throughout our 3 night stay at the hotel. Kirby really went outside the box for us with our requests and helped us plan and execute the most perfect wedding that we had envisioned.

    The location cannot be beat - from the privacy of goat island, to the light house, harbor views, and backdrop of the Newport bridge - I cannot even imagine how gorgeous our pictures will turn out! Our guests were blown away by their stay and still talk about it! It is a beautiful resort, and you never need to leave, you have everything you could need - pool, spa, gym, etc.
    We enjoyed our entire weekend so much we wish we could do it again!

    I don't know where else to begin than to say that our wedding at the Hyatt was straight from a fairy tale or blockbuster movie. I worked with Stephanie throughout the year+ of our engagement, and our "captain" on the day of the wedding was Gretchen. Both of them made my husband and I, as well as my parents feel like we were the only people in the world. They listened and accommodated our every concern and request. They responded to emails and calls immediately and were unfailingly patient and flexible. The view from the rose island ballroom cannot be beat, and having guests drive over the private bridge of Goat Island made it feel like a destination wedding even to those living towns over. The parking was complimentary and there was plenty of it. Cocktail hour on the deck was gorgeous with a perfect breeze even in the heat of the July day. There was a flawless sunset and fireworks both over the bridge that got guest outside, yet when we wanted guests back in for special dances, Gretchen was able to do it within a minute. The service and food cannot be beat. We have guests still raving about the lobster app, the clam chowder, and the filet that they could "cut with a fork." Everything came out on time and hot, was cleared off in a timely manner, and was unbelievably delicious. There were many guest allergies that were all met with no hesitation and they also enjoyed their meals, myself included. Stephanie recommended Richard Carbotti for uplighting and ceiling fabric and he made the room magazine-worthy. Many guests stayed and raved about the comfort of their rooms, and my husband and I had a perfect (and complimentary) honeymoon suite. The tables were dressed gorgeously and we did pay a little extra for chivari chairs, and it was worth every penny, there's so much more I can say, but I'll leave this with one last thought - if I could do it all over again there's not one thing pertaining to the Hyatt that I would change. Book now!

    Newport as everyone knows is beautiful. Our daughter wanted to get married here but we needed to stay within our budget. Steven James met with us, listened to our vision and assured us he could step up to the challenge. Amazing, incredible I could go on and on. He had a staff member Kate Linehan dedicated to our room block which was so helpful when you have guests coming from all over the country. Our goodie bags to the guests were delivered in a timely fashion. Our wedding was amazing. Everyone is still raving about the food, the appetizers and the decor. The wedding had navy blue tablecloths with huge pink high based flowers done by Jay at Golden Gate florist that were more than any words could describe. We had pink napkins with pink crystaled napkin rings I had made. A touch of sail boats and nautical decor. The space, the rose wood ballroom overlooks the ocean and the Newport bridge was so incredibly beautiful. I have only seen a few snipits of photos but Troy and Nora photography from here in Mass did a more than amazing job. Being at the Hyatt allowed our guests to have a mini vacation. There was easy accessibility to go into town or to go and see all the sites around the area. There are a few venues that overlook the water as well but you do not get the amenities that are available at the Hyatt for your guests.     Mr Steven James and the entire Hyatt staff treated us like royalty! We had our ceremony, reception and hotel block all provided by the Hyatt. From our initial meeting with Steven to our personalized menu tasting, we were always blown away by his knowledge and attention to details. Steven was always awesome no matter how many emails or phone calls I would make! At our final detailing meeting, I was totally put at ease by Steven and our Room Captain Matt. We went over all the details, no matter how big or small, and I can honestly say they do care about their clients! The food was incredible and our late night offerings were the perfect combination, and our guests where in aww of how beautiful and amazing the entire day was, which I cannot thank them enough for what they did for us. From the amazing views of the light house by day and bridge at night the Hyatt is one of Newport's treasures!

    The spa services provided to myself and most of my bridesmaids came from the Hyatt's spa staff and they were great! Our hair stayed in place even with August humidity in Newport and my makeup didn't stray. I had a trial run of hair and makeup as well which I highly recommend. Definitely go here if you're having a Newport wedding - it might be a little pricey being in the hotel but its so worth it.

    Recently we had our daughter's wedding reception at the Hyatt on Goat Island. We are extremely satisfied. Steven James, the catering manager, was first rate to work with. Matt Colna, our dining room captain, was equally wonderful. Our daughter and new son-in-law also worked with Steven from planning to food tasting to execution. We had numerous questions along the way. Steven helped us with our decisions when we needed help, and he let us go our own way when our minds were set. Steven always got back to us promptly when we had questions. Every detail was taken care of. Even small details that we did not think of. Steven stayed with us well into the evening during the reception and Matt was with us until the end. Matt was also with us during the brunch the next morning. Anything we needed was handled promptly and professionally.

    The bride and groom were extremely happy!

    It is a great venue with water views in every direction, but the staff at the Hyatt are what really made the difference. We would recommend this venue and the Hyatt staff specifically to anybody planning a wedding.

    When we first started talking about getting married, we decided that a destination wedding was the best choice for us. In reviewing different areas, we found Newport, Rhode Island, a beautiful place with plenty to do. Looking at locations in Newport we found them to be gorgeous and expensive, almost out of our reach. We ended up meeting with Stephanie Davis at the Hyatt, and realized that a Newport wedding was within our reach. We did look at other locations and venues, but nothing came close to the all around package that we could get from The Hyatt. They were willing to work with us on dates & menu. As the months of planning went on, the team was always responsive to our inquiries and flexible to our request.

    This past August on a sunny Friday evening, I married my best friend in front of the Hyatt Lighthouse. Thanks to the support of the Hyatt staff, my family and friends were able to celebrate with us in that beautiful location, with great food, drinks and dancing. We are both very thankful to Stephanie & the rest of the Hyatt staff for making our dream wedding a reality

    Wow is the first word that comes to mind when describing Steve James, Gretchen and the whole Hyatt wedding team! From our first meeting with Steven, it was clear that his attention to detail and wedding expertise would ensure that we had a great wedding day. He was incredibly responsive to all of our calls and emails. Steven was creative in offering up suggestions for vendors and how to lay out the room. There was no question or issue too big or small that Steven wasn't happy to help with!
    Gretchen managed the catering for our rehearsal dinner (clambake at the Hyatt) as well as the wedding reception. She had a constant smile on her face and was nearby offering us drinks, making sure we were happy and even got my parents wedding cake at the end of the night. The whole evening just flowed so smoothly.
    The food was excellent at the Hyatt from the clambake to the reception. It is definitely not typical hotel food. I would highly recommend the clambake - it was a great relaxed event to kick off the wedding weekend.
    We had many guests come up to us at the end of the night to tell us that this was the best wedding they had ever been to - we certainly owe that gratitude to the detail and care that the Hyatt put into the night. If you have the opportunity to get married at the Hyatt Newport, I would highly recommend it! Thank you Steven for everything you did to make our day great!!

    The Hyatt was absolutely PERFECT!! I couldn't imagine a better wedding experience. Their planner, Stephen James helped us plan every little detail of the day and made sure everything ran smoothly. He was always willing to help and answer questions no matter how many. The venue was absolutely gorgeous, and every picture came out breathtaking! The view from the deck and the sunset over the Newport Bridge was amazing! The food was incredible, and everyone loved it! Gretchen helped us with every moment of our reception and waited on us hand and foot. She was cheerful, aware of our every need, and made everyone feel comfortable. We already knew the Hyatt was a beautiful place, but we were blown away by the outstanding service and flow of the event. We will certainly be going back and I would recommend the Hyatt in Newport to anyone!!

    The staff at Hyatt Regency Newport is nothing less than amazing! From the moment you meet with the coordinator to the last moments of your reception, they consistently go above and beyond to make sure you are happy and feeling confident that everything will go as planned on the day of. They’re always prompt and on top of everything pertaining to your day, which means the world to a stressed-out bride. One of the things my now-husband, Elex, and I loved most about the Hyatt was their flexibility. When we threw at them things we wanted that they’d never done – a six-course tasting menu and a preceremony hors d’oeuvres hour in addition to the post-ceremony cocktail hour – they put 110 percent into making it happen and making us happy. Stephanie, the Hyatt’s wedding coordinator, is outstanding. At a time when I was probably the most stressed out I’ve ever been, she always put me at ease. She always has a smile on her face, and she is always assuring you everything is going to work out just fine – even when, with only 30 minutes until ceremony start, it starts to drizzle and everything has to be moved inside. When all was over, she stopped by to see me in the lobby, and I couldn’t thank her enough for everything she’s done for us, for making our dream wedding a reality. And Matt, who was our banquet captain, was incredible. We met him only the day before our wedding, but it felt like we’d known him through the entire process. He was so helpful, and while he was by your side in a split second during our entire reception, he wasn’t hovering. We couldn’t have made it through the night without him. The Hyatt Newport as a hotel was stunning and created the perfect wedding weekend for ourselves and our guests. Everyone loved the hotel and the area, and we think a lot of them will be returning to the Hyatt for weekend getaways in the near future. But above all, I can’t give a raving review of Hyatt Newport with giving a raving review of the food! Food is always a concern at a wedding, as usually, it isn’t all that great; it’s been more than two weeks since our wedding, and our guests are still talking about how absolutely amazing our food was – especially the mashed potatoes, which are a can’t miss! Overall, it was a beautiful evening that couldn’t have been so successful with the entire staff at Hyatt Regency Newport!

    When I was planning my wedding, I wanted to get married in RI near the ocean. The Hyatt in Newport had just finished a major renovation (2011), and they did an incredible job. It was the perfect spot.

    The wedding team at the Hyatt are top rate. From the wedding coordinator/planner to our reception captain-- just top shelf folks!

    I was raised in an Italian-American household, so the food selections were very important to me. The Hyatt had a very good selection of food and drink. We opted for the raw bar, and I've got to say, if your guests enjoy fresh seafood-- you must budget for this. It was AMAZING!

    Our appetizer/main course/dessert and cake were all wonderful as well. I cannot say enough good things about the Hyatt in Newport RI. If you want to get married near the coast-- put this location at the top of your list!

    I really wanted a hotel wedding, because I wanted to just go upstairs to my room with my groom at the end of the reception! I also wanted to be able to “Escape” during the reception to freshen up without having to use a public restroom in a wedding gown! We also had a number of guests from out of town, so we wanted them to have a hotel room available.

    We were lucky to book our wedding at the Newport Hyatt with no problem, since it was a very popular wedding date. I knew they did a lot of weddings here, so I felt very comfortable that they would do a spectacular job. I was not disappointed! Their service was exceptional. Unlike other places, they gave us so much quality hors’ devours for the cocktail hour! It seemed like more than I ordered, as they kept coming out! We were also able to have three entrees’ selections for our guests to choose from. Our guests were extremely pleased with the amount and quality of the food and service and commented all night at how great everything was. Our coordinator was wonderful and attentive to our every need.

    The rooms were very clean and roomy, and reasonably priced for Newport. There is an ocean view all around you, you can’t go wrong! The grounds were ideal for pictures, with the ocean, sailboats and Newport Bridge in the background. The Hyatt was a great value for a wedding in Newport.

    A BEAUTIFUL location and a great place for your guests to feel like they are getting a mini-vacation while attending your wedding! The staff is incredibly professional-they go above and beyond to make your wedding and reception go as smoothly as possibly. This location had incredible sentimental value to us but when we left our first "tour" of the location, we looked at each other in the car and said "I feel that, within reason, I dont think there is anything that they wouldnt do for us" - and that is the feeling you want to have.

    I cannot say enough about this place. It was truly elegant. From the food to the atmosphere to the deck outside it was an absolutely perfect wedding! The guests were able to stay inside on the dance floor or go outside to see the beautiful sunset over the Newport Bridge. Many guests told our parents and ourselves that it was the most elegant and best wedding the have been to. Steven James who was our event planner was extraordinary. He was very accommodating and I would highly recommend him!

    We absolutely loved the Hyatt. We had an amazing view, outstanding food, and incredible service. Tonianne, the catering manager, was great! The ceremony and reception flowed perfectly. The Rose Island Ballroom was the perfect reception area. At sunset, the guests were able to relax and enjoy the view from the wrap around deck. Everyone at the Hyatt was exceptionally well organized and professional. We had many guests say that our wedding was the best they had been to! We had all of the glamour of a Newport wedding without spending a fortune. The Hyatt also made great recommendations for other vendors, all of which we were thrilled with.

    AMAZING! That is what I have to say about the Food/Ceremony/Reception Hall at the Hyatt. The staff was fantastic and attentive to all the needs that arose in our wedding planning. Even a year later, guests still tell us that the food was great and the views were great (we chose the room with the deck outside). AND trust me... get the Mashed Potato Martini Bar!!

    Steven James is hands down the best. He single-handedly made our wedding a fairy tale. He is patient...helpful, approachable, knowledgable and straight out excellent at his job. The Hyatt was a fantastic place to have a classy upscale wedding that is not at all stuffy. I would highly recommend Steven James and his staff to anyone looking into having their wedding at the Hyatt Regency.

    We had our block of room for our wedding out of town guests and bridal party as well as our after party in the hotel lounge. The location is breathtaking and the staff is excellent! Booking the rooms with Anne and Kate was a great experience and they both answered any questions we had in a timely fashion. The only downside is that for hotel's room block policy, any rooms at the discounted rate need to be booked a month prior to the event (which caused some frustration for last minute guests....(granted they were told of the deadline)) Regardless, I would highly recommend!

    Absolutely amazing... Everything was amazing. They did a wonderful job decorating and went above and beyond to meet our expectations. They surprised us my upgrading our hotel room to a suite and the view throughout the entire day was so beautiful. The coordinator was great. It was a definitely a dream wedding, thank to everyone at the hyatt. They were very willing to work with our budget and made sure everything was great.

    Great Venue!

    My husband and I got married a month and a half ago now at NHIR and had the best day! We worked closely with Susan who answered our MANY questions and went above and beyond to make our day run seamlessly. She even gifted our dog, who was in the wedding, a sweet goody bag :) Our guests had nothing but great things to say about the venue and raved about the food. Our service was excellent during our stay, and I'd highly recommend NHIR to a friend!

    Gurney's, the start of my dream

    We just got married on labor day weekend 09/01/19. We went to 7 places in Newport for venue haunting and fell immediately in love with Gurney's. It's an all-inclusive resort so the guests can stay where the ceremony and reception take place. Staff, especially our coordinator Amira were very helpful and able to calm me down on the wedding day. They have both ourdoor ceremony plan and backup indoor plan. The food was amazing. The plating wasn't ideal at the beginning, but the chef was able to help us create what we like. In general Gurney's is very flexible and made our dream come true. I love that they only do one wedding at a time. Amazing amazing amazing.

    A fairytale setting for a wedding

    We had our ceremony and reception at Gurney's in September. Our ceremony was on the North Lawn and reception was in the Rose Island Ballroom. First of all, we booked Gurney's before they had done all of the renovations, and the hotels updates are beyond expectation, even from the renderings. They did a wonderful job turning this hotel into a magical modern weekend retreat. The guest services at the resort all weekend from bell hop to event manager were unparalleled. The views are breathtaking from both ceremony and reception sites, the food was phenomenal, the wait staff was accommodating and our event manager, Amira, helped us make the day unique. They were very flexible and accommodating when we were designing the menu as well as the flow of the event. Two aspects that they need to work on are communication/responsiveness to questions throughout the planning process, and timeliness of delivery of the main course.

    My wife and I got married at Gurney's Newport in late July 2018 and had an amazing weekend; we received compliment after compliment from our family and friends on how perfect of a night it was, and we totally agree.

    Our coordinator Jackie couldn't have been better; although she had only been with Gurney's a handful of weeks (she took over for our original coordinator), it felt like she had been there for a number of years. Jackie's experience in the industry clearly played a role as she knew the answers and how to handle situations like an industry expert; she was knowledgeable, professional and great to work with

    My wife and I are both very detail oriented people and had tens (if not hundreds) of questions we were sending her way to get every little detail perfect (especially as we got closer to the wedding). Jackie not only worked with us to answer all of our questions, but provided suggestions above and beyond, utilizing her expertise to make our wedding that much better. She definitely exceeded our expectations

    One the day of the wedding, Jackie was there every step of the way. She and the captains guided us through the process, kept everything moving according to our elaborate plan, and stayed late into the night. Every time she checked in with us we gave her the thumbs up, because it was all running so smoothly. The captains also did a wonderful job, especially making sure we got food and water and enjoying every aspect of the evening

    Overall, we were really pleased with our experience and our wedding night, and we owe a ton of that to Jackie

    Special shout out to Maddy and Nicole on the reservations side, who were super helpful and flexible in setting up our room block and scheduling our room reservations. We had a couple special requests, including adding a night at the last minute for my sister and brother in law who recently had a baby, and they handled it like pros. We really enjoyed working with both of them as well

    We had originally booked The Hyatt for our wedding reception strictly due to the outstanding personality of their wedding planning manager. Just two or three months before our big day, we were told that he had left the hotel! Ahh! Panic! I had called the new wedding coordinator, Kate, ready to give her a piece of my mind: "how could this happen?", "we have set plans- do they still stand?", "I've got enough to worry about, now THIS?"

    Within two minutes of talking to Kate she told me "I work my butt off for my brides, you have nothing to worry about!" That's when I seriously fell in love with the girl!! And boy-oh-boy, was she telling the truth! Amazing! She even had Munchkins just for us and our 175 guest (I'm kind of a Dunkin fanatic!). She is the best in the business and I feel bad for any bride that doesn't get the pleasure of experiencing her phenomenal service. Kate cares about you and your special day. She truly feels like a friend/family member helping you plan your day.

    My only word of caution would be to watch your open bar. There was another event going on down the hall and their guest not only crashed our wedding (I myself chased people out...) but they also drank off of our bar all night. Pretty rude. The Hyatt staff assured me during our pre-wedding run through that they wouldn't be a problem (I freaked out a little when I heard there was going to be another event that day- upon booking, I was assured that there would not be) but they were a problem. My guest even heard the staff gossiping about it.

    They Hyatt is a good venue due to their dynamic staff- Kate, Matt, Christine, and Kendal, even the wonderful people at the front desk and bell boys are top-notch! They made our day great! Maybe an extra staff member managing the guest- keep the proper people at the proper event (and not drinking off of them ALL night!) would have made our day better.

    My wedding was on July 2, 2017 at Gurney's Newport Resort & Marina. When I had originally booked this venue, it was still the Hyatt and I was working with a coordinator named Kirby. About a year after this the Hyatt became Gurney's and I also got a new coordinator named Joanna. Despite all the changes, they upheld everything that we laid out in the original contract and the shift was very smooth. Gurney's made many renovations to the hotel which I loved, from the beautiful ballroom, the the lobby and poolside and so much more! I was so happy these renovations were all done in time for my wedding. Anyways, my wedding here was an absolute dream! Joanna was a pleasure to work with, always quick to answer any of my emails or voicemails. She was always very pleasant and easy going which made me feel very comfortable around her. The venue is breathtaking, we even got surprise fireworks across the bay which was the cherry on top of the cake. The staff were all friendly and met all of my needs. Everything was picture perfect and if I had to do it all over again I would choose Gurneys every time! Thank you for a dream wedding!

    I had a clam boil rehearsal dinner at the Hyatt for 35 people on the pavilion. It was absolutely beautiful. I brought in my centerpieces which the staff placed on the tables which looked lovely. I worked with Cassandra who was awesome and helped me come up with a unique floor plan and made sure all of the details were attended to.

    The staff during the dinner were wonderful. There was TONS of food, and most people were able to have two lobsters a piece. The setting was beautiful, the staff was great, the food was delicious. We had a great time and would definitely recommend the Hyatt!

    We chose Gurney's for our wedding room block and were extremely happy with the planning process and our stay. Nicole and her team were responsive, accommodating and welcoming. The room block was easy to secure and reservations for are guests were easily made online or by calling the hotel directly. The Gurney's staff made the bride and groom feel special and welcomed with many surprises and treats. They even gave the bride complimentary ride to her wedding venue in style - a Tesla! The price is on the higher end but you truly feel like you are at a resort on an island. You are away from downtown but just a short shuttle or boat ride away (both provided by Gurney's).

    My daughter just got married in September and we had the reception at the Hyatt. First of all, I must thank Kirby, the wedding coordinator at the Hyatt, for her spectacular work and efforts. Everything went off without a problem thanks to her tremendous oversight. She worked within our budget, was always a pleasure to work with and even returned our emails when she was gone for the day. The food was delicious. Everyone loved the clam chowder! The room looked beautiful with the uplighting and decorations. We were fortunate enough to have beautiful weather and a gorgeous sunset, so we all took advantage of the deck and grounds. That alone was enough to make a magical wedding. The entire affair was perfect! Thank you Hyatt! Thank you Kirby and staff!

    We had numerous items taken from the venue by guests or hotel guests. The women and men toiletry baskets were stolen out of bathroom and no one was able to locate the items. Also an envelope was ripped open, card was left but money was taken. Would have hoped staff would have been a little more attentive to watching some of these items (know they could not control the money) but it would have been nice if someone was keeping a watchful eye on these items when there in the public arenas such as the public bathroom and cocktail hour area.

    The Hyatt team was absolutely amazing for our wedding. My husband and I were planning from South Korea where we are stationed and they made it easy. Kirby took good care of us during the planning and Gretchen was amazing as our banquet captain. Kirby had a loss in her family a few days before the wedding and was deterimined to be there to help make sure we were ok! The rest of the staff, from the front desk helping my stepmother break in to our suite to get lost flowers so we could get to the church after the deadbolt somehow locked on our way out, to the night manager letting me and my crazy bridesmaids jump in the closed indoor pool, were amazingly nice. They are worth the money!

    We were so glad to have been able to have our wedding at the Hyatt Newport. The only drawback to the venue was that it was clear that it's a very popular place to get married (understandably so), and we did not always feel as if we were getting completely personalized service. The fact that the hotel is so busy with other weddings made the responsiveness sometimes less than what we would have hoped. Everything worked out in the end and it was a beautiful time. Wouldn't change a thing!

    Venue is very beautiful on the water. Would not get any closer to the water anywhere else in Newport unless you had a private Marina. Service is not amazing. Had many issues from beginning to end. They do not have enough staff to take on the size and amount of weddings on the property. Day of wedding service was really great however planning before and settling up after wedding was a little slow and unorganized. We brought in a lot of outside vendors to transform the ballroom and deck to look amazing so you didn't know you were in a "hotel ballroom". You only get the bare minimum when booking the event. It was worth all the work and stress but dealing with the Hyatt on all our questions and concerns was hot and cold. Some days they were on the ball, some days they were very unorganized and took to long to get back to us. The service from the hotel itself while staying there was poor. Many guests rooms were ready late upon arrival. There was 2 steamers on property. Having a wedding there had no pull when we asked multiple times to use the steamer for my wedding dress. Every time we called down we were told a different answer....they don't have any, we only have 1, we have 2 but there is a 7 hour wait, ect. Eventually my mom went to Bed, Bath and Beyond to buy our own steamer to steam my wedding dress!!!! Very frustrating to deal with the day of your wedding. Again, venue outside is gorgeous, but be prepared to do A LOT of leg work to transform the rest which means $$$$!

    So this emcompasses a few categories of things, so it's quite mixed.

    1. Hotel block for wedding weekend: I know it's Newport, but definitely overpriced for what you get. The hotel is old and you can see it in the decor. We had a pool tower junior suite which is actually pretty good size, with 2 bathrooms, and sitting area. But the sofa was missing buttons etc. At over $400 per night plus resort fees, you would expect more attention of the details and more updates. The original person I was in contact with about the room block was painstackingly slow at responses, pretty sure I missed out on some nicer suites because of it. She then got transferred to another Hyatt and her replacement was better.

    2. We had an after party here at the hotel bar. Ordering the late night snacks was pretty easy and people demolished in 10 min flat. They even gave us a sectioned off area in the restaurant since there were 2 wedding parties hanging out there that night. Only annoying thing was that they were pretty strict about ending things at 1AM and was kicking everyone out on the dot.

    3. Had a hair and make up done here. For not having done a trial until the week of, I was pretty nervous about how it was going to turn out since I was so-so on the other 2 places I did trials with previously. But Stephanie did a fabulous job and everything turned out much better than expected. And they're much cheaper than other salons. Again only complaint here is that they don't allow professional photography in the spa which was sad that I couldn't document this part of the wedding.

    We loved the room and the location, its very beautiful and Stefanie Davis is wonderful. However she is the only reason I didnt give 2's across the board. The food on my wedding night wasnt the same as we had on our tasting. The apps and soup were very good but my salmon which I had been ranting and raving about was flavorless and the risotto it was suppose to be served with was a wet sticky rice ball that instead! My husband had ordered the aged filet mignon and it was overcooked, dry and had barely any sauce on it. You would hope since its your wedding they would makesure your meal was perfect but guess not. We had to bartenders, one inside and one outside. The inside guy was very nice but the lady who bartended outside was extremely RUDE to my guests as well as my father-in-law who paid for the wedding!! She was miserable and acted like she didnt want to be there (several people mentioned it to me! very embarassing!)! And I dont know why when she was making 13% of a $2,300 + bar bill PLUS tips on the spot! Had I been aware of this I would have asked the banquet captain to replace her! Along with that, I was one of the last people out of my reception so I saw what was left in my candy jars before I left and all of them were half full or more, however when we got them back 2 of the jars were empty along with just being put together with no care in the handling! And my toiletry baskets that I made for the ladies and mens rooms (that were used only by my guests that night) were wiped out when I got those back as well! I had a perfect wedding day, aside from our dinner, but it dampens my memory when I think about this stuff.

    It could have been A+, but I give it a B-

    Gurney's was a beautiful destination for our wedding and we were very pleased with our day. Our original wedding coordinator was fantastic and unfortunately left a few months prior to our wedding date. The woman who took over seemed to be stretch too thin and as a result was incredibly unresponsive to the point I needed to escalate to her manager several times to get a reply just days before our wedding day.

    Overall we were very satisfied and every time I escalated to David Smiley he was very professional and rectified any concern. But I can't say the unresponsiveness from our wedding planner wasn't stressful.. felt like the last thing we needed.

    Finally, the food and drinks were wonderful. But I received 20+ complaints from our guests that the bartenders were very rude and intentionally slow which was disappointing given the amount of money we spent on a premium open bar.

    I had (and am still having) a very poor experience with the Hyatt Regency in Newport. My parents were kind enough to host a post-wedding brunch here for our wedding guests. The planning process of the brunch went rather smoothly, but the aftermath has been awful. The Hyatt sent us an email saying that our brunch count was over the contracted amount, which may have been true, but without speaking to us or getting our approval, deducted over $5,000 additional from my personal checking account. An account that was never authorized for payment, thus over-drawing the account while I was in Europe on my honeymoon. So, not only was I in a financial pickle abroad, I also was very confused about the additional charges that we never spoke about or authorized.
    The Hyatt claimed that they "could not find" the contract with the correct credit card information on it, so I forwarded them the email correspondence and proof of contract. Clearly, backed into a corner and very much in the wrong, they sent me a note saying that they "could not fight anymore about the charges" (What fight? We never approved them!) and said they would be refunding me the full amount. No apology for their error. Nothing. At this point, I'm still waiting for almost $3,000 to be refunded to my account.
    This review doesn't touch on the trouble I had with my room block accommodations as well. The hotel offered my a suite upgrade for our wedding night, and then took it away (true story). They also charged some of our guests a resort fee, when we made sure to bake the fee into the block rates ahead of time.
    I don't particularly like writing bad reviews, nor do I want to get an employee in trouble which is why I'm not naming names. But buyers need to be fairly warned. It's just not worth the stress when you're ready to enjoy newly married life. Good luck.

    Keep looking! The decent prices and beautiful view may have you convinced that this is your venue but believe me you will be in a world of problems if you choose the Hyatt Regency Newport. I had many issues planning along the way, to be expected when planning a wedding, however noone ever gets back to you. The wedding coordinator says her famous words "I'll look into it and get back to you" but never actually does.

    Other than the valet charging half my guests $5 when it was contracted to be free and despite promising to have a room for the groomsmen to get ready in and never coming through with it, the day of the wedding was actually picture perfect and the food was great. The real problems began the next day.

    The Hyatt charged my new husband and I over $500 for our "complimentary room". They told us not to worry that they would not charge us and get to the bottom of it. 2 weeks later when we were on our honeymoon I checked my charges and sure enough they charged the room. It was a 3 week battle after that to get it fixed. With everything paid off before the wedding and the room issue out of the way, I was greatful to be done working with them. However, 2 months after the wedding I get a $2,400 charge to my card! I disputed it with the credit card company, however with a company like that you really can't. Apparently they can charge whatever they'd like to a card on file, no authorization needed. It took over a month of fighting with management, the wedding corodinator, and the creadit card company before the Hyatt even sat down with me to explain the charges. When they finally did they were again trying to charge me for the room, our dessert that was contracted into the coast of plates (already paid), and the bar that was also already paid for.
    Overall they agreed that we didn't owe $2,400, but 2 weeks later they still hadn't refunded the card. It took 3 of us to go down there and threaten to hire a lawyer, and call Susan Hogan before they fixed it.

    My family and I had a lot of problems hosting my wedding at the Newport Hyatt. Although the wedding day ended up being wonderful/beautiful, most of that was due to the setting/other vendors and not the Hyatt. We had a year and a half of frustration and disappointment dealing with their management. They are not accommodating for brides/their families and they do not compromise to meet clients half way. We were given false promises/information multiple times and also things were changed on us last minute without any advanced warning. If that wasn't bad enough, when we tried to explain our frustrations to upper management we were made to feel that we weren't spending "that much" in their perspective and therefore our needs weren't valued. The front desk is also a disaster there, they not only gave me a hard time to check into my bridal suite (at 2 am) but also messed up the family rooms on the wedding day. Afterwards, guests have had wrong charges on credit cards that have taken weeks to resolve. This hotel is disrespectful to its clients and does not value or appreciate the business that clients bring to them. They value themselves as a luxury hotel but do not act like one in any way. We literally fought for everything we got on our wedding day and if I had to do it again, I would not get married there.

    Don’t bother staying here. We attempted to block rooms and have an after party. Well, by the time they came back with a quote for the after party, the block rate jumped by $50 per night. Ironically, Wedding Wire was able to secure a rate that was $200 less a night. Several of our wedding guest chose to stay here with us. Rooms weren’t ready after 5:00 and we were moved three times. When we were attempted to get back into our room after dinner with our families we were literally locked out. Two trips to the front desk they finally got security involved. Then engineering was called back to the hotel. 45 minutes later we finally got into our room. The front desk manager was useless and could only apologize for the inconvenience. It’s a shame that Gurney’s can’t operate at the same caliber as the Hyatt, which was a far better experience.

    BRIDES BEWARE
    We hosted our rehearsal dinner at the Hyatt and also had our main wedding room block here.
    In regards to our room block: the Hyatt forgot to give out our welcome letters with the shuttle schedule. Due to this we received dozens of calls on our wedding day from frantic guests who did not know how to get to our ceremony. Worst than this, numerous guests were not given their room until 5:30PM (check in is supposed to be guaranteed for 4PM). Due to this they barely made it to our ceremony. Our guests also told us about numerous problems with their rooms: broken toilets, room left wide open by housekeeping, no front door! In regards to our hotel room, my parents were given our "honeymoon" suite by error! The service was awful, we ordered breakfast the day after the wedding and were made to wait almost an hour. Once the food came the waffle had no maple syrup at all and the coffee to milk or sugar! We had to wait another 30 minutes for a replacement which we were charged for!
    Numerous issues with our rehearsal dinner as well. The space for the waterfront pavilion is very nice however it is not worth the aggravation, disappointment and expensive price. We had to work with 3 separate mgrs to plan our event: 1st one quit, 2nd would not get back to us for 2 weeks at a time even though her voicemail would say she was in the office every time we called so we requested a different manager to work with. 3rd manager was supposed to be there for the duration of the event but spent 20 min at our event and then left someone else in charge who was not briefed in on our event!!! The setup was not what we had agreed on in advance. To my great dismay I told the manager that the groomescake was a surprise yet2 different staff members went up to him to ask him questions about it.s, no one saw the cake. We had agreed upon a 2.5 hour open bar w a possible additional 30 min yet when we told the staff to actually add the 30 min they refused to do it.
