Wedding planning
We could not have had our perfect wedding without the help of Jill. She helped us during the planning process by providing us with monthly and weekly checkins to keep us on track along with providing day of coordination. She was always on time and organized during all of our meetings, our rehearsal, and our wedding day. We were a wild couple who just wanted to have fun and Jill made sure to keep us on track to make sure we got everything out of our wedding day that we had imagined. She set up our reception space beautifully and we were pleased to find everything neatly packed up and ready to go the next morning. We cannot thank Grey Cardinal Events enough for making our dream wedding a reality! -

Grey Cardinal Events was so helpful from the first time we met up to wedding day! They are so organized and gave great advice. Their monthly, and as we got closer, weekly check-ins, were exactly what I needed to remain on track for wedding planning. Jill was so helpful, making sure that everything was absolutely perfect at the rehearsal and on wedding day! I'm so glad Grey Cardinal was a part of my wedding! -

Allie was SO helpful with wedding planning. She was flexible when I had to make changes and answered all our questions/worries. I would not have been able to do it without her. We got the partial plan because I had already started booking vendors, but I honestly wish we had done the full planning package from the beginning because Allie really knows what she's doing. Even my friends were telling that they noticed how smoothly everything went!Grey Cardinal Events's reply:

We hired Grey Cardinal Events as our day of coordinator for our wedding. However, I was amazed at how involved Allie was during the entire wedding process. She helped answer any questions I had, create timelines, message vendors, curate backup plans, and with set-up/take-down. Made our wedding day run flawlessly!
We are so glad we decided to hire Allie as our day-of coordinator for our wedding. She was SO organized and was always two steps ahead to anticipate any potential issues. Believe it or not, we ran ahead of schedule on our wedding day, which gave us more time to enjoy with our guests. She was amazing at picking up where we left off with planning and "taking the reins" on the wedding day. It was great that she had existing relationships with our vendors, so her communication with everyone was very seamless. She also has an incredible eye for decorating- she took our vision for our reception space and executed it in a way that was better than we could have imagined. The peace of mind we had that everything was in good hands was worth every penny. Thank you, Allie! -

I cannot say enough about how amazing Allie at Grey Cardinal Events is, but I will try my best to summarize it in a (long) review). I hired Allie for full service wedding planning, and she truly went above and beyond in every step of the process. From providing organized questionnaires, vendor comparison charts, timelines, layouts, etc., to transparent, kind, and helpful communication, to supporting myself and my (now!) husband through the more emotional aspects of planning a wedding, to making decisions based on her expertise and knowledge of my preferences when I wanted to give her full range on items. While wedding planning in itself is a beast of a task, Allie handled the large majority of that beast and ensured I knew what the next steps where, and who is responsible for each task. Several times throughout wedding planning, there were items (mostly legal) that I had no idea were even necessary, and she explained what, why, and how to do these legal items, always helping me where she can. Allie knew what to prioritize when things didn't go as planned (there will always be outside factors you can't control when planning) and I truly felt that she had my/my weddings best interest in her heart when navigating tough situations. Overall, the process in planning with Allie was seamless, accurate, on-time, personal yet professional, and to my surprise, actually fun. Then we get to the actual wedding weekend, and every single aspect made my jaw drop, and while there were a lot of people involved, Allie was the true star of the show in executing it. All of my vendors (there were several) knew exactly when and where to be thanks to Allie's preparations, and she handled any vendor related questions or tasks as they came up during the wedding weekend. The design of the space FLOORED me, it was everything and more. I walked up to the venue and just had to stand there for 10 minutes (would have been more if I could) to appreciate the beauty of what Allie had pulled together for me and my husband; I had SEVERAL guests come up and say "this wedding is perfect, it is so you." From arriving at my welcome party to leaving my wedding, Allie made me feel like a true princess, always asking how I was doing, letting me know what happens next, bringing me drinks and food, and really just providing anything and everything I (or my husband) could need. I didn't even have to think about what was happening, I just got to soak up my day, and I will always be appreciative of Allie for giving me the true opportunity to do that with ease and comfort. I came into the wedding planning experience as someone who wanted to elope, to avoid the planning and the people, and I left feeling that this was the best weekend of my life and wishing the wedding weekend could have been a week long. I also walked away wishing I could continue working with Allie, because I grew much closer to her than I could have expected and I miss her already. Thank you Allie from the bottom of my heart, for giving me the weekend that I didn't even know I dreamed of. -

I will start by repeating the first words I uttered to the bridal couple (Chase & Chelsea) when referencing Allie Detzler of Grey Cardinal Events…..this was your best investment as it concerns wedding services! Chase & Chelsea replied, “you’re not the first vendor to say that”. She was extremely personable and a pleasure to work with, but more importantly very productive and efficient.
The reception took place at the Inn at Virginia Tech, but the ceremony was conducted at the VT War Memorial Chapel. She visited the venue on multiple occasions before the wedding and she conducted endless research to facilitate the event for the couple and all the external vendors. She anticipated potential issues like parking for the vendors during the ceremony, so she reserved parking for the relevant parties involved in providing services for the ceremony.
She provided an extremely detailed timeline for all vendors which would provide a great reference for the timeline, as well as the execution of the events throughout the night.
Despite her great contribution to the successful outcome of the event, she was still holding herself accountable and challenging herself to learn from unprecedented experiences and to see if she could do anything better during her future events. I would never hesitate to recommend Grey Cardinal Events to anyone.

Allie provided partial planning services for us and I cannot even put into words how incredible our experience was with Grey Cardinal Events. My only regret was that I didn't hire Allie as soon as I kicked off wedding planning. If you are anything like us, we started the process very hesitant about making the investment and confident that we could handle the wedding planning process ourselves (all while working two full-time jobs in the middle of COVID-19 *face palm*)... fast forward to three months before the wedding when my fiancé and I were overwhelmed and knew we needed professional help to get us across the finish line. Allie swooped in and provided the much needed guidance and calmness that we needed to finish out our final planning details and coordination with all our vendors.
Our favorite things:
-Allie is responsive, thorough, and organized. We had weekly check-in's leading up to our wedding where she laid out our to-do lists - this made our lives so easy and focused
-Allie is candid and will provide honest feedback on potential vendors to book and decor / pricing / etc. She won't try to up-sell you on unnecessary items and will keep your budget as a top priority
-Her decor planning and set-up exceeded our expectations. Not only was she able to elicit our vision from conversation and Pinterest boards, Allie also has access to a lot of beautiful wedding decor rentals. she also crafted a balloon arch for our photo backdrop!
-Allie and her team were quick thinkers and handled issues as discreetly as possible, keeping us as stress free as possible on our wedding day
I am not exaggerating when I say that my wedding day would not have been the same without Grey Cardinal Events. Multiple of my other vendors even complimented her organization and detail to me in separate conversations. Run, don't walk, to book Allie for your special day! -

Allie is amazing! We can't recommend her enough. She went above and beyond to make sure everything was smooth on our wedding day, and had all kinds of "Plan Bs" in case something didn't go as expected -- which sure came in handy when the pandemic hit. She helped tremendously with the pre-wedding planning with comparing vendors, helping us figure out what we wanted, and setting a realistic budget. She also created beautiful decorations for us based on my very loose ideas. As the bride, I didn't have to worry or think about a thing on our wedding day other than enjoying myself. She took care of every little detail and made sure guests knew where to go. Thank you so much, Allie! -

Allie was a Godsend when we were planning our daughter's wedding. I thought I could do it all myself, but realized quickly that planning a wedding, and a rehearsal dinner in our backyard, AND continue with my own job and life was far more than I bargained for. She anticipated all of our needs for both events, narrowed down the options (with a pros and cons list already made for each) which helped make our decisions easier and quicker. She had awesome, creative ideas that worked with our budget and everything "simply" fell into place. Allie decorated the MOST beautiful cakes I've ever seen for my wedding. It looked like a magical garden was growing from the cake table. This was almost three years ago and people still comment to me about how amazing the cakes looked. Allie helped to create one of the most beautiful days of my life! She is also a very hard working and caring individual and she made sure that she understood what my vision was and executed it to perfection. -

Allie and Jill were AMAZING! They helped bring my vision for an all out floral wedding in Hahn Garden on the VT Campus to life! Being an out of town bride, I was lost and overwhelmed with vendors, rentals, and all the details, but the minute I hired Grey Cardinal they came in and saved the day (literally)! From the monthly planning calls (I did partial planning services) to the weekend of coordination, they were extremely kind, calm, and on top of everything. We hired Allie for our day-of coordinator and she went above and beyond with her service. She communicated with us leading all the way up to our event so we were prepared for the big day in advance. Coming from a DIY wedding family, I was ready to get to work decorating the venue before our rehearsal, but Allie made sure I relaxed and took care of it all herself. She made my venue an absolute dream with her decorating, and was so efficient! I could not recommend her enough for any level of wedding planning - she really made our day everything we wanted. -
