Gretchen is so great to work with! She went above and beyond creating a Clemson stadium cake for our rehearsal dinner and a GORGEOUS and DELICIOUS wedding cake! Her prices can't be beat for the quality you get!

Wonderful experience! I had them make the groom's cake we served at the rehearsal dinner and it was spectacular. From the flavors we requested to the decorations I wanted on it, everything was perfect. It was definitely a party favorite!

These ladies are also the sweetest people you will probably ever work with! Give them a call for your cake needs!

Gretchen's made an amazing Clemson themed tiger sculpted cake for our rehearsal dinner. It was so perfect that a few guests touched it because they didn't know it was a cake! I have had sculpted cakes at events before that were pretty but didn't taste that great. We choose cream cheese pound cake and it was so delicious! Everyone loved it.

We loved using ABS cakes for our wedding! They were friendly when we sat down to talk about prices and options, and they never pressured you or asked you to make a decision. She just said if you choose to use us this is how you secure your spot. The cake was absolutely beautiful and delicious!

Gretchens was incredible to us! The owner is so nice and flexible as well! The 3 tier cake she made was GONE before the night was done! Our family and guest LOVED it. Thank you for making our wedding cake perfect!

We used them for both our cake and food. Our guest were please with the food they said it was like thanksgiving dinner (We had a holiday spread). They were also able to add hot chocolate and apple cider to our drinks with little trouble, so they are very flexible. Their cake is delicious and they did a wonderful job on our wedding cake. It was everything I wanted the cake to look like and she helped us with deciding how we wanted the cake to look like.

Gretchen's cake was absolutely beautiful and so delicious. Everyone at the reception kept asking who did the cake. The designing process for the cake was easy. They were so helpful and had the best samples during our cake tasting meeting.

Gretchen's ABS Cakes did a wonderful job with my wedding cake! Gretchen was delightful to work with and her cakes are absolutely delicious. We didn't have much cake left after the wedding because it was SO good! She was easy to work with and we were able to meet with her as many times as we needed until we had exactly what we wanted. She is super sweet and her staff are all very nice. She also made our Clemson/Carolina groom's cake and it was also perfect! They all did a great job and I will definitely go back for more of her amazing cakes!

We hired Gretchen's ABS Cakes to cater our wedding reception, and are very pleased with the food and experience. They worked with us to come up with an array of dishes and Shrimp & Grits that was wonderful.
The staff did a great job of making the event a success, attentive but not "in the way", and were able to adapt to some last minute maneuvers with grace. I will not hesitate to use Gretchen's ABS Cakes again.

Worth every penny!

Gretchen's wedding cake was great! Her cake is not your typical special occasion cake found elsewhere. Cream cheese pound cake, Neapolitan and many others that you would serve as dinner desert. We decided to have choice for our guests with different cakes in different layers, all decorated beautifully.

Gretchen is kind, generous, helpful and a wonderful person. She is very good at listening to your preferences and provides expert info to help guide you through the selection process. Excellent to work with..

Unbelievable cake. It was beautiful and delicious!!! Cake was decorated exactly like my daughter and her groom wanted. There were teeth on the bottom layer just as they asked since they are both dentists. All guests raved about the cake. It was all eaten, wonderful cake and the grooms cake the night before was fabulous also!!

Gretchen at ABS Cakes was delightful. She's the grandmother I always wanted! I found her via a referral from my hair stylist who suggested I get on the ABS schedule ASAP as she was too late to get her own wedding cake from Gretchen at ABS. Gretchen was very flexible and met with me at the last minute as I was in town doing wedding biz and lived over an hour away. She provided delicious samples and even sent several home with me so my husband-to-be could weigh in. Our cake was exactly what I wanted (after changing my mind several times) and it loved by all who tasted it. Gretchen provided an anniversary cake for free and the cost of the cake was very reasonable. My husband and I ate that anniversary cake up as soon as we returned from our honeymoon as we couldn't risk ruining it with freezer burn...now we'll go back next October and get a fresh scrumptious anniversary cake...and the next October...and the next...

My wedding cake was beautiful and very yummy. My wedding was in August and I am still getting raves about my cake. The owners are down to earth grandparent types with a granddaughter type employee. You felt like family. Wonderful all around. My bakery needs will always go to this vendor.

Awesome place for a wedding cake! Gretchen gave wonderful advice, and her cakes are absolutely delicious! I had a cream cheese poundcake with buttercream frosting and got rave reviews from my guests. Not only did she help with the cake, she also created some southern treats for our gift boxes! Wonderful company!

Everyone was raving about the quality and taste of each layer of our cake. People are still talking about how good Gretchen's cake was. Each layer was different and delicious. I highly recommend ABS cakes. The decoration was jaw dropping. She went above what I was expecting. She did just what I asked.

LOVE LOVE LOVE Gretchen!!! Our cake was delicious and we were able to customize it to match our wedding and our tastes perfectly. Gretchen and Heather made choosing a wedding cake even better than I imagined it! They were very willing to work with the image that my husband and I had for our cake. When we did our tasting, instead of going to the bakery, Gretchen made us 3 different cakes of our choice to take home and share with our families. It was wonderful! They were incredibly accommodating as our guest list size continued to fluctuate up until the week of. The cake itself was incredibly delicious and our guests loved it!

Gretchens made the 'Groom's Cake' and our wedding cake! They were both TO DIE FOR!
Our wedding cake was 3 different flavors - guests said they all had at least one of every flavor because they were so good!
Gretchen and her staff were wonderful to work with and are very talented. They make gorgeous cakes that taste as great as they look.
I would recommend Gretchens to anyone needed a cake for any occasion - wedding, birthday, showers, etc. They are wonderful!

Everything was exactly what we asked for and more. Gretchen’s came highly recommended from friends in Spartanburg. I did my research and they have excellent reviews dating back more than 5 years on yahoolocal.com (this speaks for itself). This is a one of a kind good old fashion bakery…like no other you will find in the Upstate of SC. We will continue to go to them for all of our special occasions or if we just want a great cake. I would highly recommend them to do your wedding cake, no matter how difficult or unique it is. Thanks Gretchen’s crew!!!

We Loved the cake Gretchens ABS Cakes did for our wedding! The best part of their service is instead of having a cake taste testing with several different cakes they make you a small cake of whatever flavors you want to take home and test and sample with friends and family. They did a wonderful job and provided suggestions to a flavor we would have never thought about trying which happened to be the Most Liked flavor. Thank you to the wonderful staff!

I LOVED working with Gretchen to plan our wedding cake. We actually had cupcakes instead of a cake and they were a hit at the wedding.

We also used Gretchen's for the groom's cake and it was AMAZING. They made a Clemson golf bag with a tiger tail. It was such a surprise for the groom.

We couldn't have asked for any better service. The spice cake with cream cheese frosting was AWESOME!

I wanted to thank all of the people working at Gretchen’s ABS Cakes for making our wedding day so special. I have to say that the wedding cake was beautiful and tasted equally as great, but what got me was my groom’s cake. I did not know that y’all could sculpt a cake to look just like my dog. I greatly appreciate what you did and that made our wedding date so much more special to me.

I have been going to Gretchen’s ABS Cakes for more than 7 years now and they are by far the best bakery around. One year ago they did my wedding cake and it was absolutely marvelous and above and beyond what I could have ever imagined. Gretchen is the nicest lady and she even worked with me to get the price down to what we could afford (ask her about dummy layers…nobody else will do it). I have referred 2 of my good friends to her business. They now get all of their cakes from Gretchen’s also. We all agree that this is without a doubt, hands down, the best place to get a cake for any occasion!

Gretchen was great to meet with when selecting our cake. They were very flexible and could do any design that I selected. We were also able to choose any cake and filling flavors that we wanted. We were told by other bakers that pound cake wasn't a good choice for a wedding cake. Gretchen's would do a pound cake for us and it was delicious!

They delivered our cake the day of the wedding and it looked great! We were very happy with Gretchen's!

Gretchen and her crew did an amazing job on the design of the cake! But most importantly the taste....AMAZING! We chose classic white, strawberry and pistachio chocolate chip...all a hit! I am a cake snob and the taste, freshness and butter cream icing was phenomenal! I would highly recommend her!

I can't say enough good things about Gretchen and her cakes. She's great fun to be around and our cake was beautiful (and just what we wanted). But, best of all, it was delicious! I highly recommend the strawberry with buttercream icing.

I loved my wedding cake, it was absolutely beautiful, 5-tier cake we got the Neapolitan flavor, delicious. I surprised my finance with his grooms cake; it was a life like replica of his English Bull Dog, Ace, and it was awesome!! I got so much for the price. Great Value, Great Taste, Great Staff!

Gretchen makes the most delicious cake I have ever tasted. My mom made me get a cake; I didn't really want one b/c I'm not that into cake. However, when I tasted her cream cheese pound cake with fudge and peanut butter between the layers at a wedding show, I was hooked. People raved about our cake.

I am so glad we used Gretchen’s ABS cakes to do our wedding cake! The cake was very reasonably priced, and Gretchen even includes a complimentary “anniversary cake” in the pricing that you can have in addition to or instead of the top of your wedding cake on your 1st anniversary (or just whenever you feel like eating it). The day I did my cake tasting, Gretchen provided a wide variety of cakes (her shop has an amazing selection of different cakes and fillings/frostings) for me to try, and even let my mom come back with me to try the cake samples again since my mom hadn’t been able to come to the first appointment. Initially I had been afraid that I hadn’t clearly communicated my vision to Gretchen, so she made sure to get out a sheet of paper and sketch out exactly what I wanted the cake to look like, and even made notes on the side to specify the different flavors of each layer and the colors of my wedding. I was so grateful that she took the time to ensure that our wedding cake matched my vision, because it was so amazingly beautiful on the day of our wedding. It was also one of the best cakes that I have ever tasted…the different flavors were so delicious (especially the pound cake)! I can’t wait for another celebratory occasion so I can have one of her amazing cakes again!

Gretchen's came recommended to me and I wanted to check it out. It was the only place I looked into for our cake because it was wonderful. Gretchen provided a taste test to decide on flavors and was willing to do whatever I needed. THey delivered, set up and made my cake look absolutely wonderful...not to mention the great taste!!

Our wedding cake was wonderful. My family has been going to ABS cakes for every birthday since I can remember because we refuse to eat any other cake! We also ordered a variety of deserts (peach cobbler, bread pudding, etc) for our engagement party from ABS and (no surprise here) they were phenomenal. For the wedding, I showed Gretchen a picture of the wedding cake that I found on pinterest and she did a fantastic job of using that as inspiration to make something perfect for us. It was also DELICIOUS. Usually I go to weddings and feel underwhelmed by the taste of the cakes, but ours was so good. We had neopolitan, cream cheese pound cake, and banana nut pound cake flavors and everyone raved about how good they were. Everyone there is incredibly nice and helpful as well. The only point I would make is that it is helpful to go by in person and keep in contact with them as they aren't very big on electronic communication. So if you expect quick results when you put anything in email you might be a little disappointed. However, if you call or stop by you will be seen and helped out in a very timely manner. The price was also fair and Gretchen helped us find the best price by discussing different options with us. I would definitely recommend them!

I heard great things abut Gretchen through a family friend that lived in Greenville. This friend got cakes from Gretchen for EVERYTHING and I now know why. Gretchen is such a lovely woman, so sweet (like her cakes!) and full of life. Her flavors, OMG! We used Key Lime. Our wedding was on the expensive side, but it was due to me ordering a massive custom grooms cake, a wedding cake AND a birthday cake (we got married on his birthday). I will go to her for birthdays and celebrations to come. Sometimes it was hard to get an email or phone call back from them, but they listen to everything you say and make it happen for you on your big day!

I have gotten several cakes from ABS before, and I have never had a bad experience with any of the cakes before. I was happy to have chosen them to do my wedding cake. The cake turned out beautiful. The cake was three tiered, and they allowed for each tier to be its own flavor. I chose strawberry, German chocolate and red velvet. The tier made with red velvet was a hit at the wedding. They also provided the anniversary cake separately to us at no extra cost. I know that I will continue to use them for cakes in the future.

My wedding cake was 3 tiered with 3 different favors. My guests loved the cake, but I a little disappointed because I had a butterfly theme wedding and the bakery forgot to put the butterflies on the cake. However they did give me 20% off my next cake purchase which came in happy.

Gretchen is such a sweet lady, and always makes you feel like you are the only wedding cake she will be making. She is a little pricey but her cake is great. The design was a little sloppier than I thought it would be on my Wedding Day and we have heard of some bad things about her from other people. BUT, our experience was a good one.

While the cakes tasted good, the decorations were not like we had discussed. I provided a sketch of my design, had a consultation with Gretchen, and she seemed to understand what I wanted. She repeated things back to me and said they could definitely do my design. I wanted a park scene (green grass, a few flowers) with stepping stones across the 2 larger cakes that would lead towards a castle (which I provided) on the top cake. My cake stand had 3 separate spots for cakes rather than having 1 tall tiered cake. Rather than candy stepping stones like we had discussed, I ended up with a huge grey stripe across the middle of the 2 larger cakes. And the middle cake had that grey stripe going down the sides of the cake as well. The sides were supposed to be simply white buttercream. I don't know how stepping stones became a pavement across my cakes, but it was ugly. There were a few other problems with the decorations, but that was the main thing. At least the white buttercream on the sides (that wasn't covered by grey) was smooth.

We were referred to Gretchen by another bakery in the area because they were not available on our wedding date. We were very disappointed with the quality of services provided by Gretchen's. The cake design was not what I had ordered. During our initial consultation it was also stated that Gretchen would provide a pre-sliced sheet cake that would be served to our wedding guests. We did not receive the pre-slice cake. When we brought these issues to Gretchen the day after our wedding, she blamed our florist and hotel for the issue with the cake design and stated that we did not pick the package with the sheet cake (2 tiers of cake with a sheet cake would've been $300, but we opted for 3 tiers of cake and no sheet cake for $425). We reviewed our order slip and neither package said that one came with a sheet cake and the other did not. After talking to us briefly, Gretchen exited and left her husband to provide various excuses for why the services they provided were not what we expected. I ranked her a 1 for Professionalism and Quality of Service because all we wanted was an acknowledgement of the mistakes and an apology, but instead we received 1,001 excuses as to why it was not their fault.

Horrible, dry and worst ever!!!!

Have attached photos and tempeh speak for themselves. Asked for white with green and pink floral like the display. Text messages the owners daughter thay dealt with and she read my messages and ignored the situation. First was inspiration in their window and second was what was delivered
