Fantastic Alterations

I went to Green and Blue for my wedding dress alterations, and they did a wonderful job. It was definitely an investment, but on par with other alterations places in the area. I went in for a consultation and two fittings, and by the end of it my dress (and all 5 layers of it!) fit like a glove. Thank you very much!

Highly Recommend!

We simply had the best experience at Green and Blue! I got my dress in New York City while living in D.C., and so made the call to have it altered in D.C. instead of at the studio where I purchased the dress in NYC. I was a little stressed about this decision because I knew that the designer had experience with my dress, and chose Green and Blue based off of reviews/a list of recommendations from the studio where I bought my dress. I ended up having the BEST experience with Green and Blue, and cannot recommend them enough! They were patient, skillful, kind, and accommodating. I built trust with them quickly and they fulfilled and delivered on every aspect of our experience. My one piece of feedback is that their floors were dirty, and so my dress got dirty when I was walking around the studio ensuring it fit/the alterations were correct. That being said, they then cleaned the dress for me and were super accommodating and kind!

Highly Recommend

I worked with Green & Blue Studio based on a recommendation from Lovely Bride DC (where I purchased my dress).
My dress needed minimum alterations (bustle, hemmed, and slightly taken in). They were able to complete all of this in one month. They were extremely professional the day we dropped it off. Worked quickly to ensure they had everything pinned to my liking, and even recommended a better pair of spanx.
The day we went to pick it up, it needed taken in a little bit more. We don't live super close to the area and didn't want to have to come back. They fixed this within the next two hours for us so that we didn't have to come back.

Highly recommend them for dress alterations!

Amazing work at a reasonable price! Fixed a rip in my dress when others said unfixable!

Green & Blue studio completely knocked it out the park with my dress! I bought an off the rack couture gown that had a small tear in it. It turned out to be a huge problem and I had been told by another tailor that my dress was basically unfixable. Another tailor quoted me over $1,500 for the fix. I came to Green & Blue and they listened to me and came up with a solution of patching the dress and covering it with beadwork from my mother’s dress (which I wanted incorporate anyway). They were much more reasonable in price than the other tailor’s quote! I also was concerned that my dress would be falling down all night because it was strapless. They put in a sort of bra-type belt inside the dress for extra support and I danced the entire night away without worrying about it! They were super easy to work with and listening to all my concerns; reasonably priced; convenient location. Of course, the dress fit like a glove and looked gorgeous. I’m SO glad I went to Green & Blue and would recommend to anyone in the area!

The studio did a wonderful job with alterations on my daughter’s dress. Everyone was kind and helpful. With the pandemic our plans changed a few times & the studio was so helpful and flexible. THE BEST EXPERIENCE.

Amazing - would use again!

Highly Recommend!

I chose Green and Blue Studio for my wedding dress alterations and I am so happy I did! I brought in my BHLDN dress and they were able to complete alterations and the bustle in my desired timeline (three months). The bustle was very well-done and looked perfect. My friend came with me to the final fitting for a quick tutorial on how to do the bustle, making it a quick and seamless process on my wedding day. The studio also has a steaming option add-on that made the day of my wedding so much easier/stress-free. From start to finish, my experience with Green and Blue Studio was fantastic. They were efficient, talented, and responsive - truly experts in this field! Wedding dress preservation is also offered. All in all, you are paying for quality work and I would recommend their services to anyone.

Amazing seamstresses

I unwittingly bought a size 14 dress when I am a size 4, so my alterations ended up being a big job! Luckily, the seamstresses as Green & Blue were up to the task and made the dress look really natural (though not without doing a good bit of "dress surgery"). They even squeezed me in for a last minute appointment the week of the wedding when I decided I wanted it to be a little bit tighter. So grateful for their wonderful work!

Beautiful Work!

Green and Blue Studio was easy to work with, a pleasant environment, and an overall great experience! I bought my dress off the rack and needed to get it altered to fit as well as have the belt attached. They listened to all my concerns and thoughts and had great input as well! It was clear that everyone there knew what they were doing! I needed only two fitting appointments and then was good to go! Genius alterations!

I purchased my dress from a bridal salon in Richmond, VA (so that I could go wedding dress shopping with my parents) - but, as an Alexandria local, I didn't want to have to drive back & forth to Richmond for alterations. My friend recommended Green & Blue studio for my dress fitting - and I am so glad that she did!

It's a beautiful studio in Dupont Circle - and, the team there is SO talented. They were able to make my slightly too-big dress fit like a dream - and everything was done within 2 appointments. They offered steaming services - so, when I picked my dress up 2 days before the wedding, everything looked perfect. Their prices were very fair, they recommended the right undergarments for my dress, and they had very convenient appointment times.

Perfection!

Green & Blue was a true miracle-the team basically restructured my entire Sarah Seven gown. Cups were added, structure put it, zipper moved and bustle added-I was in awe of the craftsmanship. In these odd times, my gown was ordered 2 (2!!) sizes too big-these ladies really listened to me, worked magic, and made me feel absolutely beautiful. Look no further-incredible team!

Very focused!!!

I had my wedding dress altered with Green and Blue Studio and they were beyond patient and professional. I probably had more fittings than necessary but was being super particular with how my dress was fitting (as my body was changing leading up to the wedding). I'd be lying if I didn't say I was super stressed before each appointment but they always made me feel at ease once I was there. They spent so much time with me and ensured when I walked out of there each time I was confident with the alterations. I can't thank them enough!!! I will definitely use them for my dress cleaning and future alteration needs!

So professional! I felt at ease the moment I walked in.

You can tell the women at Green & Blue are absolute professionals. I went with them after my friend had a similarly stellar experience :) I had them do the alterations for my courthouse wedding dress and Modern Trousseau reception dress. They did multiple rounds of alterations on both items right up to the wedding. The whole time I felt like I could absolutely trust them with two very different dresses -- they knew the material, cuts, and got my vision. Not cheap but worth every penny!

Absolutely amazing work!

Wow! Green and Blue Studio did an absolutely incredible job on my wedding dress. Their attention to detail was amazing. They truly took their time to make sure every detail was perfect and I was happy with how everything looked. My dress was very delicate and detailed which required them to do custom beadwork on the bodice to make sure it was perfect. They also altered my undergarments to tailor them to my body and the dress. We were all blown away with the job they did. It was like they worked magic on the dress! I would highly recommend them to anyone!

Expert Work

Daniela and the rest of her team at Green and Blue Studio were not only one of the best vendors I worked with for my wedding, but one of the best businesses I’ve worked with, period. My dress was a disaster when I first received it from the designer – it was the wrong size and cut incorrectly. Green and Blue completely turned it around to get the dress just right. They had me in multiple times for one flat price, including three times in the week leading up to my wedding. Beyond the normal stuff of taking the dress in and shortening the length, they helped correct the massive issues that came from the original dress' size, everything from lowering the waist on the bodice to adding lace to fix the too-deep cut of the dress. They also worked on my lace overskirt to fit it perfectly to the dress. Although the price was fairly high, this was by far some of the best money I’ve spent. They are experts.

Best experience

Had SUCH a good experience with Green and Blue Studio. They were recommended by the shop I bought my dress from and I'm really glad I went with them, although maybe a little bit pricier than some other places, worth every penny. My dress didn't need too many alterations because it was ordered to fit, but the Green and Blue team did so many little requests for me- they added a button from my grandmother's wedding dress to the back of mine, changed the bustle the second time I went when I changed my mind from French to American style, altered my tassel arm bands to fit perfectly, and rather than adding padding to the bust where I didn't want it, they listened to me and took the boning out of the chest area right then and there so I could be sure that's what I wanted. Awesome experiences there and so happy with the final product. They did an AMAZING job and my dress was absolutely perfect.

A few words that come to mind when I think of Green and Blue Studios are: lifesavers, miracle workers, incredible, and a dream team to work with! They turned my "blank canvas" into EXACTLY what I wanted!! I literally can’t say enough good things about Green and Blue Studios and one of the owners, Daniela. They make the impossible possible. They are the fairy godmothers of wedding dresses, and are willing to do whatever it takes to make sure their bride gets exactly what she wants. They worked a miracle and made a master piece in record time. They worked day and night and had many sleepless nights to ensure my dream dress was ready. They took the time to really listen to what I wanted and showed me different options, and let me be the designer with the final say. They NEVER said something wasn’t possible or they couldn’t do something; they just made it happen. The owner, Daniela, made me feel like I was her only and most important client – definitely not the case – and constantly reassured me that my dress would be exactly what I was asking for, and if it wasn’t then they would fix it. If you’re in a bind, are unhappy with your dress, or want to design your own one-of-a-kind wedding dress while staying within a reasonable budget, then you can’t find anyone better than Green and Blue. I had an amazing experience with the Green and Blue team! I have a larger bust, and was worried there was no WAY my strapless wedding dress could stay up all night. After two appointments at Green and Blue, my dress fit perfectly, was absolutely not budging or falling down, and was super comfortable, too. All of the ladies who work at the studio are so nice, helpful, and very quick to communicate via email. I got married in June 2017 and they tailored my wedding dress. Green and Blue Studio's location is a little strange (in an office building, so you have to call their phone and wait for an employee to come downstairs to get up to the studio), but that's really the only negative I experienced with them. The customer service is friendly, and they know what they're doing. They listened to me (though admittedly I didn't say much. I largely felt I should let the experts do what they do.) and the dress fit perfectly with an impeccably done hem. They were helpful with teaching my mom and bridesmaid how to do the bustle and the dress was comfortable. Very happy with their work.

Green and Blue did a wonderful job on my dress! It was a few sizes too big when ordered due to my measurements. It took a few more fittings than expected to fix it but they did not let me leave with my dress until it was perfect. Their commitment to quality work and detail oriented nature shone through in how they worked with my dress. It was an obvious challenge to take in a backless dress. Daniela was also experienced and personable. She kept me assured it would all work out in the end, which it did. I highly recommend Green and Blue for your wedding dress alterations. It is your wedding dress; it is worth the cost knowing you are in safe hands.

Green and Blue was wonderful. I came here after getting my dress hemmed by another seamstress who wasn't sure what to do with the top of the dress. It was too big, but she just added big cups. It looked fake. I don't think she knew what to do with the layers of lace and the corset-style top of the dress. Green and Blue knew exactly what to do. They took the top of the dress in and put darts in so that I didn't need to wear cups. I looked like a fairy tale princess on my wedding day. Thank you!

I used Green & Blue Studio for my wedding dress alterations and they did an incredible job. My dress was a fully beaded & sequined gown and was incredibly heavy. They went above and beyond, doing parts by hand to make sure that none of the details were lost. We also had to rework the bustle several times due to the weight, and they never complained about having to redo the same work three different times to get it just right (and didn't charge extra). Like others, I wanted the best alterations for my wedding dress, and the salon where I bought my dress (Something Bleu in Saratoga Springs, NY) recommended Green and Blue as a local option. Daniela and her team completely redid the entire bodice of the wedding dress to allow me the same beautiful look and feel, while discreetly hiding the structured, supportive bra I needed to make sure my boobs didn’t sag on my wedding day! I can’t say enough about how much of a pro Daniela is. She exceeded all my expectations and then some.

It happened just three months before my wedding day. But I was very lucky to purchase my dream dress directly from the designer. We only had 10 days to have the time to alter it, so once I ordered the dress, I started to look for an alteration place and ask around if they could get my dress altered in 10 days.

When I called Green and Blue Studio they said they can do it in a rush. At this point, I still didn't know if the dress would fit me and they didn't know what kind of dress I got. I went to Green and Blue Studio and met Daniela on the next day I got the dress. She is very professional and a very sweet person. She told me they would get the alterations done in only one week, then we would have the time to fix little things if it needed and I didn't have to worry about it right before the wedding. The dress was my dream dress and I couldn't think of getting any other dress. They saved my wedding, I can't thank them enough!

It cost double because of the rush fee, but I think the normal price there is very fair. I highly recommend Green and Blue Studio for your dress! Thank you so much Daniela!

I wanted the best alterations for my wedding dress and Daniela and her team provided just that. They were prompt, professional, and exceeded my expectations at every step of the way. They were extremely patient with me through about 6 fittings ( a few extra because I continues to lose weight). The quality of the alterations were top notch and I'll never go to anyone else for formal dress alterations again.

I am so happy I took my wedding dress to Green and Blue Studio for alterations. I had a gorgeous ball gown with many intricate details and beaded crystals on the bodice--- beautiful but definitely needed a skilled expert to make any alterations. When I first got my wedding dress it was too large, and I was nervous that it would be difficult to alter. I was pretty last minute on my dress alterations, considering many DC area brides start their alterations at least 6 months before the wedding - I left it to just about 2 months! I bought my dress at David's Bridal, but didn't want to use them for alterations, and was really anxious about finding a great tailor at the last minute. I did a lot of research and luckily found Green and Blue Studio, and I was even luckier that they had an available appointment within the week! I ended up doing three fittings, and each time, they were so professional and friendly. I didn't feel rushed or awkward, and they gave great advice on undergarments, jewelry, and accessories. While it is a little pricey, it is worth every penny to know that your dress is in capable hands. When it didn't fit well at the second appointment, I was only nervous for a brief moment, since they quickly reassured me that it was an easy fix - which it turned out that it was! The dress fit great, and I really enjoyed working with Green and Blue Studio. I would highly recommend this studio!

I will be sending Daniela and her team birthday cards, christmas cards, leaving them in my last will and testament, you get the idea. I bought a Jenny Packham wedding dress in NYC. I had 2 fittings there, shuttling back and forth from DC to NYC, and when I went for my 3rd fitting in NYC - the dress was not yet complete. Since I had the prior fittings already, we were sure it would be fine. So my mom comes down to DC for the wedding on a Wednesday, wedding is on Saturday night. We try on the dress just to make sure, and oh god. They took it in way too much on one side so it couldn't zip properly and the other side was so loose you saw my bra. I wish this site would let me show a picture. You read about this kind of thing happening to people, but the horror stories really are rare and often told by people with a chip on their shoulder, etc. I NEVER thought this would happen to me, but it did. The dress shop we bought the dress from was appalled, they dont have their own seamstress so they contracted out for that. They immediately called green and blue and overnighted extra material for my dress. We arrived at Green and Blue at 10am on the Thursday before the wedding, full of nerves. They put us at ease and oh my god they were amazing. We did 3 fittings throughout the day and Mom and I walked out of their studio by 4pm DRESS IN HAND. They did months worth of work in hours. They are absolutely incredible and recommend them to all DC brides with no reservation. Thanks Daniela!!!

I came to Green and Blue Studio late - they had one month to fit my wedding dress. On top of the time crunch, the dress that I bought was not in good shape to start with - we discovered at my first fitting that the first layer was two sizes larger than the lace overlay. There was a lot of work to do, but they had it ready to go in perfect condition the weekend before my wedding. Daniela is very persistent and made sure that everything was perfect. I loved my dress and Green and Blue was excellent to work with, particularly given the time crunch and the initial poor condition of the dress that I brought to them. Well worth the cost!

I brought my off-the-rack (non-wedding dress) gown to Green and Blue for alterations - adding straps, trimming the tulle, and adding a small bustle. The service was fantastic and the quality of the alterations was impeccable. Only one comment - you pay for the quality. I bought my dress on sale and off the rack (approx. $250), and so I ended up paying almost as much in alterations as I did for the original dress.

I cannot not express how amazing Green and Blue Studios is. I got my wedding dress from a consignment shop in the area - I fell in love with the dress, it was amazing. But problem was...it didn't really fit. I could get it zipped but that was about it.

The seamstress that worked with the shop where I got my dress told me, and I'm not kidding, that all I needed to do was lose 10 pounds and the dress would fit fine. Despite that huge boost of confidence I decided to take my dress to Green and Blue.

They were amazing! My wedding dress angels! There were some moments when I never thought it would happen but, they did the impossible and not only made my dress fit but also made it look absolutely amazing. On the day of - everyone could not stop complimenting my dress. None of this would have been possible without them.

If you want your wedding dress to look amazing - go to Green and Blue. Daniela is so sweet to work with and they really know their stuff. I wouldn't trust my dress to anyone else!

I worked with Daniela and the team on transforming my mother's wedding dress into my own dream dress. This involved taking a Laura Ashley cotton batiste gown circa 1982 and making it look fresh, classic, preppy and romantic for a yacht club wedding.

Luckily, my mom had surprisingly classic taste for the 80's and I loved everything from the waist down. That said, the dress was at least one size too small for me and one inch to short. Also, I hated the simple top and obviously hated the 80's style puffy sleeves.

The team at Green and Blue sketched out some ideas, and we met many times over the next several months. The puffy sleeves (covered in a ribbon check pattern) were removed and the material was matched up perfectly to create a sweetheart bodice, complete with boning. The dress was lengthened with matching ribbon perfectly sewn to the bottom--it really looked like it was always there.

They really went above and beyond. When I decided I wanted a belt from Etsy in matching ribbon, I was able to just stop in and grab a scrap for matching the shade, upon my request. They even sewed it on and included a faux bow with snaps for an incredibly modest price. Also, when I lost some weight quickly before the wedding, they were able to whisk me back in with my dress for a final fitting.

The experience was a little anxiety-inducing for me at first (was I really not going to have a "say yes to the dress moment at a bridal salon?), but I quickly became excited and completely at ease in their hands.

I felt so beautiful in the dress, and it was a huge hit at the wedding. It felt very special to be wearing my mom's dress among people that had celebrated with her 30 years ago in the same gown.

The value was incredible. I know that I paid less in alterations than many of my friends with designer gown alteration needs that require skill, but not same level of artistry.

I will return for other dress alteration needs!

This place is a hidden gem right in downtown DC. These ladies are really talented, do their own designs and are pros at the ins and outs of bridal and bridesmaid alterations. They built in plenty of time for me to come back twice and still have the dress done a week before my wedding (at their suggestion, so i didn't have to think about it). My dress was perfectly altered and pressed and ready with no time to worry. They also altered two of my bridesmaids' dresses, and they were perfect too. The price was comparable to other places I've heard about, and the convenience factor of being downtown was priceless.

I had my wedding dress altered at Green and Blue Studio for my June 2018 wedding. I honestly didn’t research any other places, because two of my close friends had their wedding dresses altered there and were very satisfied. My dress fit more snugly than I thought it would, and they worked with me so I would feel comfortable and beautiful in my dress. I actually had a moment when I thought I hated the dress (probably was wedding planning stress lol), and they listened to and addressed all of my concerns. She discussed the various options for bustling my dress and provided clear instructions so it could be easily done on my wedding day. They were respectful and courteous. On my wedding day, my dress looked like it was made for my body, it fit perfectly. I still don’t know how they were able to alter the intricate lace so seamlessly. I think the prices were a bit above average, but well worth it. I literally thought I hated my dress and they transformed it to be perfect for me. I received so many compliments, and my mom still tells me that her acquaintances ask if I had the dress handmade because it fit perfectly! They also helped me to delicately transform my mom’s 35 year old veil (with a tiara lol) into a Juliet cap, and I got a million compliments on that as well. I recommend Green and Blue Studio’s services.

Green and Blue is the most amazing alterations studio I could imagine. An NY wedding dress maker (who shall remain nameless) told me 16 days before my wedding that she had designed a dress she couldn't make, which left me dressless with just about two weeks to go. Green and Blue was able to take a dress I'd ordered offline and make it a) fit me like a glove, b) add the exact lace accents I wanted on my original dress, and c) turn it all around in - get this - three days. Daniela and her team are magicians and I wish I could recommend them ten times over. On top of all that, Daniela is so kind, so supportive, and such a professional, that I was actually grateful to have had this dress disaster, just so I could have gotten to use her services.

I can't say enough how much I enjoyed working with Daniela and her team. They paid attention to every detail during my fittings and also worked to transform my mother's mantilla from 1970 (!) into a true work of art. We trimmed the original lace just a tad to incorporate a few layers in the bottom tiers of my gown and then left a 1-inch trim of the original lace as the border of the veil (trying to attach photos for more detail). Seeing the extra pops of lace peek out while walking around on our special day was such a sweet touch and I don't think any other shop in the area would have been able to bring my vision to life the way Daniela did. I highly recommend this business and hope to work with them again in the future!

WOW! Green and Blue Studio came to the rescue 3 times for my wedding day! Not only did they provide impeccable tailoring/alterations for my bridal gown they solved a few issues as well. First, they worked with me to try about 6 different bustle types until I was satisfied that they bustle didn't cover up the beauty of my dress. After all, you wear your dress bustled the majority of the night. Then, I ordered a belt that had crystals all the way around from another vendor - no tie, just snap on. The vendor didn't listen to me and ordered a size smaller than what I needed. Green and Blue was able to fix the belt in a matter of 10 minutes by sewing on a piece of lace that perfectly matched the dress and extending the length. It looked like it was made that way and was PERFECT. Then, the night before the wedding we decided the dress was too wrinkly and they steamed it last minute. One note is they did store the dress in the bustle which likely worsened that issue - make sure to ask them not to do that. Otherwise, I cannot say enough GREAT things about Green and Blue!

I found Green and Blue online, as well as through a girlfriend who had her dress altered through them. These ladies were great, and not stuck up like some of the other tailors I had consultations with. I really liked working with them and during the time between when I came in for a consultation and when I came in for my final fitting, they upgraded to a beautiful new big space in the building! They are not the cheapest option in DC, but they charge the going base rate for dress alterations, and you get what you pay for. I had a designer dress cut on the bias, so tailoring it could have ended up disastrously with anyone who didn't know what they were doing. They did a perfect job and my dress looked amazing, like it was made just for me. Thanks again ladies, I'm telling all my friends about you!

Perfect fit!

I purchased my wedding gown at Lovely Bride DC and was recommended to use Green and Blue for my seamstress. I was very impressed with the level of detail given to my dress. At the first fitting, they pinned my dress and let me know it would be ready about 8 weeks later. At the second appointment, the dress fit like it was made for me, and no additional fittings were needed. The seamstress did a wonderful job trouble-shooting a minor concern about the mesh portion of my dress by adding an extra piece of boning and it looked wonderful. I would highly recommend Green and Blue!

Altered my dress to perfection

I had a wonderful experience with Green and Blue Studio. They're pricey but it was worth it for the quality of the work. They were extremely flexibility when I needed additional alterations after postponing my wedding and losing some weight - not to mention I accidentally brought a bridesmaid dress instead of my wedding dress to my final fitting and they squeezed me in again on the same day! I bought my Sarah Seven dress at Lovely in Georgetown. Initially I was a little annoyed that I had to go somewhere separate for alterations, but they recommended Green and Blue Studio and I ended up being very pleased with their work. One negative was parking is a pain in the neck since the shop is right by Dupont Circle, but overall had a great experience working with them! I travel a lot for work and they were able to accommodate multiple appointment reschedules. I had a very delicate lace invisible neckline that they were able to expertly alter. I also paid extra to get my dress and veil pressed the day before. My dress was one of my favorite parts of my day!

If you need your wedding dress tailored and you live in the DC area then you should absolutely go to Green and Blue Studio! They have great attention to detail, are customer service oriented, reliable and do quality work.

I am so happy that I chose them as they did a fantastic job! Wedding planning can be stressful and it was a relief not to have to worry about my dress because I knew that it was in good hands. All of the staff at Green and Blue are professional and responsive. I had no problems making appointments, they would fit me in when it worked with my schedule. And the work that they did on the dress was high quality and impressive! I needed my dress brought in a fair amount, the train shortened a lot and work done to slim the cap sleeves. I also had them attach a sash, which was not straight forward since the back of my dress had a very deep V shape so they had to angle it. All in all, the team did a fantastic job!

My gown needed significant alterations. I went down about 3 dress sizes between buying the gown and the day of my wedding and my gown had extensive beading. Green and Blue made it fit like a glove and redid the beading beautifully. I also required another complicated alteration (addition of a panel) which they pulled off before my wedding. I received many, many, compliments about my gown, due in large part to their flawless execution. The alterations were expensive, but it was worth it!

Green and Blue studio was great! Daniela and her team did a fantastic job altering my dress, and they did everything within a month before the wedding. I bought my dress off the rack at BHLDN, but it ended up being a good size too big and needed some major alterations to make it fit right. They took it in in all the right places to really accentuate my curves, and the dress fit like a glove. They also added a bustle so I could easily dance/walk around but still have a nice train for the ceremony. While the alterations were a bit pricy for me, I think they were quite comparable to other alterations studios in DC, and the job they did really was worth it!

Lovely staff and quick turn-around

Other than having a few bridesmaids dresses hemmed, I’ve never had to go to a tailor/seamstress to have alterations done. However, after buying my wedding dress almost a year before my wedding and then losing two dress sizes, I knew it was going to need significant alterations to fit well for the day and I wanted to go to a dedicated service rather than work with David’s Bridal where I had purchased my dress. I researched and emailed a few studios in downtown DC and Green and Blue Studio was conveniently located and gave me a tentative quote within just a few dollars of the other options.

Front office staff were very responsive and the seamstress who did my fitting was so lovely and energetic. She answered my questions and worked quickly (since I had procrastinated my first fitting until just 2 months before the wedding because of my diet). It took only two fittings to have the dress ready for my wedding day. It was easy to wear all night long!

I trusted them with my lace wedding dress

Many of the other reviewers counted on the studio to create a dress from scratch or revive an old dress. I had simply bought a lace wedding dress that I adored and wanted to ensure the alterations were done well. The alterations were more than I expected, but the dress fit me beautifully by the time they were done. They even managed to create a beautiful bustle on a dress that seemed hard to bustle. I would definitely recommend!

The dress was relatively simple (tulle with a lace overlay) and mostly fit my middle, but the bust needed to be taken in significantly and I needed it to be hemmed and bustled. I made the appointment several months in advance because I knew my dress was coming in only a few months before my wedding. When I went for the initial fitting, I was a bit taken aback by the cost ($950 of alterations for a $1300 dress, although I think some of that was the rush fee). I went to the studio three times and was able to take the dress home on the third visit. The alterations were very well done and the bustle was beautiful. The bustle was also more complicated then I thought it would be, my dress had three layers and they bustled each one separately and did a 7-point bustle with the top layer so the tulle would lay beautifully. After seeing the quality and thought that went into the alterations, I appreciated the cost. Both of the women who did my fittings were lovely and I am happy to have given them my business. I also purchased a veil here.

I used Green and Blue Studio to fit my wedding dress, on a recommendation of a friend who used them. They were super accommodating, rescheduling appointments and doing last minute changes (I sprained my ankle so had to redo the entire hem two weeks before!). The quality was good. There were little bits that weren't 100% perfect, but overall, I was pleased with the results. I was never worried that they would mess something up or not have a ready in time. They take great care of your garment.

They were great! I had to go back twice to get the alterations on my wedding dress perfect, but they were very friendly and in the end the dress looked and fit great.

Green and Blue Studio was fantastic to work with and they made my dress absolutely perfect. Their location is easy to get to and they worked with me to purchase additional fabric and add straps and a belt to my dress to make it uniquely mine. I loved working with the whole team!

Green and Blue did a great job altering my dress. It was a complicated job -- 5 layers, tulle included. They made a gorgeous bustle and the dress fit perfectly. I also liked the atmosphere of the shop -- lovely dressing rooms and chic displays. They are efficient, professional, and definitely not cheap, but I felt I got a good value for my money.

Dress Alterations

The women at Green and Blue Studio did an incredible job altering my dress, which proved to be an incredible challenge because of its sleek lines and obvious seems. I am pear shaped, so they had to reduce the size of the top half of my dress while maintaining the asymmetrical seems and open back, which I learned is even harder without lace or beading to hide any imperfections.

They were incredibly patient with me and explained the benefits and drawbacks of different bustles, and made sure that everything fit perfectly and that I was comfortable. The end result was perfect. On my wedding day I was comfortable, I could move, sit, and dance.

Daniella pulled together a vague vision I had into nearly the perfect physical picture! She didn't flinch when I described something that had never been done, and completed the work herself to bring my idea to life. I can't draw and could only communicate generically what I wanted (I don't speak "sewing", so she had to translate not only from English, but from Vague). The finished product was so unique and I had a fabulously great time wearing it. Thank you, Daniella, for working so hard to make my day special - and for adding additional details on pick-up day! She was very easy to work with, and a joy to do business with.

I brought my Hayley Paige wedding dress here for alterations, and the recommendation of Lovely Bride in DC (Lovely Bride works with Green and Blue, so they recommend all alterations take place there). The staff at Green and Blue were wonderful! They were all so nice, and the owner made me feel like I was in great hands. The alterations were done on time, with a few weeks to spare.

The only reason I cannot give them 5 stars is because when I picked my dress up, one of my bustles broke. They quickly fixed it (took them less than 2 minutes to stitch it back). Then on my wedding day, EVERY SINGLE bustle broke. So I could not bustle my dress. So I had to keep my train draped over my arm the entire night of the wedding. I complained to Green and Blue after the wedding, and they were super apologetic and ended up refunding me for all of my alterations. So they made it right in the end!

Green and Blue Studio does excellent work, and they are true professionals, however, this all comes at a cost, which was much higher than what I was expecting. This company is no longer a 'hidden gem' and they have raised their costs to prove it.
I had bought my dress at Davids Bridal and really needed a competent, trustworthy person to alter it. A friend recommended Green and Blue from using their services 5 years prior. I contacted them and had sticker shock with the first price they quoted me over the phone, but decided to go check them out since they were close to work. Little did I know that I would have second sticker shock after having my dress pinned for 30 minutes. I felt a little cheated in that the initial phone price turned out to be for a basic sheath dress and mine due to its intricacy cost 150% that amount.
The dress work they did was lovely, and they did a good job accommodating my schedule for the fittings. The dress fit perfectly and got many complements during the wedding, and some of the suggestions they made really influenced how comfortable I was in it. Unfortunately, one of the bustles broke during my wedding which made it harder to dance.
I did think the customer service was good, but not spectacular, apart from my last visit when they were doing one final alteration while I waited and the lady who brought the dress out didn't bother to hang it properly or make sure it fit into the dress bag. While I have no complaints about the quality of the craftsmanship, I felt that for the price, I should have received better service. Especially when the tailor who did my husband's tuxedo (in Georgetown, so same area) quoted me a price 1/3 of what Green and BLue did.

I had a few issues:
Every time I got there for an appointment (and I had 3), I had to wait at least 20 minutes. I guess they are very popular, but at $400+ for wedding gown alteration, I would have liked them to plan out the appointments a little more precisely.
At my first appointment I told the tailor that I needed 3 things done. First, I wanted the dress hemmed. Second, I wanted them to sew on some buttons (which I mailed to them after my first appointment), down the back of the gown. Third, I wanted them to fix some puckering that was happening on one side of the neckline. The tailor seemed to understand all my requests. However, when I showed up for my second appointment, the puckering in the gown was still there. I pointed it out and the tailor said something about the elastic causing it and it couldn't be fixed. It looked horrible so I pointed out that the other side of the neckline was fine and I just wanted them to fix it so that both sides matched. She seemed to understand this and said okay. But when I went to pick up my dress at the third appointment, the puckering was still there! I was pretty upset at this point and one of the other women came in to help us and she suggested just taking out the elastic. They did that really quickly in the back and the puckering was gone. I was a little put off that they tried to have me take the dress home with the puckering still there when I was so clear that I wanted that fixed.
Also, I had to deal with them saying that the buttons I mailed to them never arrived. I went through this monumental effort to get new buttons from the manufacturer in time (the buttons in that particular fabric were back ordered) and I dropped the new set off in person. But when I went to pick up my dress at my last appointment I noticed that the original buttons I had mailed were sitting at the bottom of the dress bag! That was quite annoying...
But overall I was satisfied with the final result.

Not a great experience

Although the staff was very friendly, I don’t recommend using this studio for wedding dress alterations. It was very pricey for what was, in my opinion, low quality work. My dress was originally very fitted with a cowl neck and low back. When I brought the dress in, the seamstress said she was just going to take it in because it was quite large in some places. She did take it in, but she also shortened the shoulder straps to the point that on my wedding day the straps cut into my skin and left scars. She also added boning, which was uneven between the left and right side. This caused the dress to poke out in strange ways unless I was sanding perfectly straight. When I went to pick up the final dress, we looked it over and everything looked good. Then the seamstress took the dress in the back to package it up. A few days before the wedding I took the dress out to look at it one more time, and I noticed that the back of the dress had pulls, loose threads, and runs all throughout the back panel of fabric. I called and brought the dress back and the seamstress was able to fix it before the wedding day. I am grateful that she was able to fix it, but if I hadn’t taken one last look at the dress, I would have been devastated on the wedding day. She said that her jewelry probably snagged on the fabric as she was packing it up. Honestly, for the price and the stress, it was not worth it. Do not recommend.

While nice and conveniently located, I would not recommend this place to those looking to have detailed work done. I needed to have the top of my dress redone and had to return multiple times since the changes did not reflect what I had described in detail. I was forced to rebuy expensive lace and was not offered a discount. I was also not impressed by their responsive with my displeasure. Their hours are also inconvenient.
