We couldn’t have asked for a better venue than Great River. From start to finish, the team made everything so easy and stress free. Abby and Miranda were incredible on the day of the wedding. They handled everything behind the scenes, kept the day running smoothly, and made sure we didn’t have to worry about a thing. The space itself was absolutely beautiful and perfect for a fall wedding, and every detail, from the decorations to the setup, turned out exactly as we hoped. Working with the staff was such a pleasure. Our guests had an amazing time, and we are so grateful to Great River for making our wedding day truly special.

Outstanding Wedding Venue
We had our wedding on November 1, 2025 at Great River Golf Club and the entire experience was absolutely incredible! To begin, our Wedding Sales Director, Chelsea, was outstanding. From the very beginning of the process, she was always available either via a phone call, email, or in person. Her professionalism, knowledge and expertise, friendliness and patience was evident the entire time.
Our bridal concierge, Miranda, was simply the best! Always smiling, always a step ahead of us, attentive to our ever need, Miranda made our day stress free and fun!
The food, the service, the grounds, the organization of the whole process was more than we could have hoped for!
We recommend this venue for anybody’s wedding!

Unmatched service and experience!
I can't recommend Great River enough! This venue makes it very easy to have/plan a wedding without a ton of moving parts and more transparency into pricing. We fell in love with the idea of the brick walk as our 'rain plan' so we could plan stress-free for the year leading up to our big day without worrying about the weather. There are 2 options for where to hold a ceremony, 3 options for cocktail hour, and the reception ballroom is stunning!! The entire day has a backdrop of the river beyond the golf course greens and requires minimal decor. Best of all, there is a full team to help you plan your day! I worked with Karin, Abby, Chase, and Miranda who helped us all the way from our tour to beyond our wedding day! This team is there to organize the decor, work with your vendors, fluff your dress, manage the flow of the day and rehearsal, bring you drinks/food all night, and hype you up! We truly would not have had the same experience if it weren't for these incredible women.

The Dream Wedding Experience
It was an absolute dream having our wedding at Great River. Thanks to Karin and Abby, our day was truly magical and one we will never forget. Karin was incredible! From the very first tour of the venue to the big day itself, she went above and beyond at every turn. Her attention to detail, calm presence, and genuine care made us feel so supported every step of the way.
Abby was equally amazing. She was thoughtful, personable, and somehow everywhere at once. Abby was constantly checking in with us while seamlessly managing everything behind the scenes to make sure the day went perfectly.
We also want to thank Chef Matt, who was not only informative and accommodating during the planning process, but absolutely wowed our guests — we’re still getting compliments on the food!

Perfection!!
Our experience with Great River was perfection. If we could give it 1000 stars we would! The venue itself does not need a bunch of decor because it is already gorgeous. The staff were so supportive and communicative, answering our many many emails with the smallest questions throughout the entire process. We were not even worried about weather because all ceremony locations are stunning. When we couldn't have our cocktail hour in the original planned location due to weather, Great River was quick to refund us for this and create a new plan. We received so many compliments from the guests on the food and venue. Staff were also very communicative with our vendors and helped the day of run seamlessly. I wish we could relive our day over and over! Special shoutouts to Abby, Emily, and Chef Adkins. You all played such a big role in making our day so special!

If I could leave Great River a 100 star review, I would. The entire staff was amazing, so incredibly attentive to every detail, and so nice, kind and helpful throughout the entire process. The food was spectacular, and all of their recommended vendors were top notch! We had such a great experience working with them, and they really made sure our day was so incredibly special. Even though I never visited Great River Golf Club prior to wedding venue shopping, I was pleasantly surprised when I read other 5 star reviews from couples just like us looking for the perfect place to get married in Connecticut. The professionalism of the staff was second to none from the moment I reached out, I knew I was in good hands with Chelsea. I did not stress over the little details, their wedding packages gave me the confidence to ENJOY wedding planning. From the 5-star chef to the bridal concierge every single member of staff worked extremely hard to make our wedding special throughout the entire process. Great River Golf Club exceeded our expectations! After our first visit in spring 2023, we knew this was the venue for us. The views were stunning, and the grounds are well kept. We fell in love with the breezeway which is where we had our cocktail hour. They were able to extend our cocktail hour space into the courtyard outside the ballroom which made it spacious for our guests to enjoy the bar and pasta bar. The high ceiling and chandelier in the ballroom took our breath away. It looks even better in person! The team did an amazing job with bringing our vision to life!
The best part about Great River is their staff. Throughout the planning process, Karin and Suzie were always available to answer any questions we had. Suzie took extra time with us at our final meeting to be sure that all our questions were answered. On the day of the wedding, they were so attentive to not only us, but our family as well. We had an amazing experience. The food was so good, and our guests continue to tell us what an amazing day it was.

Exceeded expectations!
The grounds are very well maintained, from the entrance through the entire course, and because of this, our photos came out phenomenal. They even met with my photographer before the wedding to show here where the best pictures can be taken!
Happy hour was outside and had a wonderful flow with a bar outside and inside! No one had to wait in line for a drink!!
The staff!! Every single one of them was extremely helpful, quickly responded to emails and questions, offered suggestions of aspects I hadn't thought of, and very enthusiastic! They all showed signs of enjoying their job, which made it a pleasure to work with them!!
The ballroom is elegant, classy, and offers a timeless space to celebrate. The carpets were clean, the dance floor was nicely set in the middle of the room so everyone can enjoy it from all around,
The food... oh the food!!! It was AMAZING!! The taste testing was EXACTLY what we got for the dinner. I am drooling just reminiscing about it!

Suzie Gigante is an excellent wedding coordinator, she is on top of everything and makes the shot there as easy as possible.
Great River Golf Club offers a great variety of views for photos easily accessible with the golf cart provided by club.

Our Wedding
The entire staff from the beginning of our wedding planning throughout the wedding day were FANTASTIC!! Beautiful venue & great service!
I was very happy with our decision to have our wedding at Great River. The venue itself is beautiful and I love that we were able to have the ceremony, cocktail hour, the reception, photos, etc. all on site but still in all different and stunning locations. Great River is the perfect wedding venue
We had our wedding reception at Great River in early September and it was the most amazing day. The entire team at Great River is kind, helpful, and professional. The venue is absolutely gorgeous, and they handle it all, the food and coordinating with your vendors, and even have relationships with several bakeries to choose your cake from. The whole process couldn’t be smoother, Caitlin is a joy to work with, she answered every question and concern we had. Chef Matt is phenomenal at what he does. From our food tasting to the week of the wedding he made sure every detail was perfect. Our friends and family are still talking about the delicious food a month later! Abby was my bridal concierge and she was so attentive, I didn’t have to worry about a thing except just enjoy our wedding day! The entire team at Great River is incredible. We highly recommend Great River for any special event. They will certainly make it very special and memorable!

The Perfect Venue
Great River Golf Club was the perfect venue. They handle everything from food to cake to day of coordination so we didn't have to worry about a thing! The staff is absolutely amazing and we didn't have a single issue. The food was more gourmet restaurant quality than typical wedding food and their chef personally walked us through the options to customize anything we wanted. There are multiple options for bakeries so finding a cake was super easy and then they handled it from there. For coordination we had multiple people waiting on us to ensue every little detail went smoothly, from bringing us snacks and drinks, to coordinating with outside vendors for us, to decor details, it was all wonderful. I could not recommend Great River more highly!

We had the most amazing wedding day at Great River. We couldn’t recommend this venue enough. The entire staff was so organized, efficient, friendly, and helped make our day special and exactly what we wanted. Caitlin, Carly and Karin went above and beyond throughout the entire planning process and made sure every detail was discussed and carried out on wedding day. Amazing experience at Great River
We loved everything about our experience with the team at Great River. From the first tour of the space with Chelsea, to the day of with Caitlin, Madison & Lucy, to the follow up post event, everyone was kind, professional, and extremely helpful. Our guests loved the dinner and we loved the fact that we could offer four meal options. Don’t sleep on their chicken- it is the best catered chicken I’ve ever had. The coordinators and bridal concierge team handled everything for us including set up, clean up, running the rehearsal, and making sure everyone was where they were supposed to be throughout the day. It absolutely poured all day, and they made the rain locations feel like the original plan. Caitlin kept me calm when things had to change, and Madison & Lucy made sure I was dry and warm during any down time. They even made sure my husband and I had water while we were taking endless pictures! I can’t say enough about Great River.

Flawless from beginning to end
I can't say enough good things about Great River. They were absolutely wonderful to work with! From beginning to end, working with them was a breeze. After my now husband and I had our initial meeting with them, I went back with my mom a few weeks later and they happily walked us around a second time so that my mom could see everything. I was not expecting that, and it was really nice that they took the time. The coordinator we worked with was great. We emailed her so many times with questions. We had a couple of unique requests, one for the ceremony and one for the reception, and they were happy to accommodate us. They set everything (seating cards, favors, guest book, etc.) up in the banquet room perfectly. It looked so good! I can't say enough good things about our bridal concierge that was with us on the day of from beginning to end. She was absolutely wonderful and so attentive. Their food was amazing as well. We got to taste test a set of food choices ahead of time and they were all really really good. We only heard compliments from our guests regarding the food, including the late night snack we chose. Don't sleep on the late night grilled cheese, I cannot tell you the number of guests that raved about these! At the end of the night they helped pack up any gifts and cards to send home and they happily held on to any decor items until the next day when we could come pick them up. I truly don't think there is one thing that I would have changed about the day, they were flawless!

Our wedding day & rehearsal dinner were truly perfect thanks to an amazing team at Great River! From the planning process to the day of, the event team was available to answer all of our questions and guide us through every step. Our menu tasting was such a special experience with the chef and the food was outstanding; some of the best we've had! Our meals the day of tasted exactly like they did during the tasting and the service was exceptional! We also had our rehearsal dinner at Monty's River Grille with a pre-set menu that we selected with the team. The food, again, was amazing; even our foodie family was raving about how delicious everything was and how big the portions were! I can't recommend Great River enough for their outstanding service & amazing event team!!

Do yourself a favor and book your wedding with Great River, you won't regret it!! They were extremely organized, attentive and just so incredibly helpful at all times and never once did I feel like I was a bother to them. They answered any and all questions I had and were excellent at providing guidance throughout. As a perfectionist and a very type A kind of bride, I was expecting a lot to go wrong on the day of but I can honestly say it went off without a hitch thanks to the staff at Great River. They were on top of everything and ensured all went according to plan and made sure I did nothing but enjoy the day, and enjoy the day I did!! From the beautiful setting and attention to detail to the delicious food, they ensured all was perfect and people are still raving about how great everything there was. A day we will never forget
This venue is gorgeous! We knew when we met Gail at our venue tour that we were in good hands. Working with Great River was A+
We toured about a dozen wedding venues and nothing felt right until we arrived at Great River, almost instantly we knew this was the venue for us! The grounds were beautiful as were every indoor area, this was a place we knew would "wow" our guests! We also could not have asked for better staff to work with. Chef Matt is so talented and we could not have asked for better food at our wedding, all of our guests were so impressed. The events team were also so accommodating and really took the time to get to know my husband and I to make our day extra special. We truly enjoyed working with every single person at Great River! Lastly, a big selling point to us was the multiple options for the ceremony, cocktail hour and reception in case of bad weather! This allowed our day to be as stress free a possible. The Best Venue in CT
I can’t say enough wonderful words about GR. They made my wedding day the best day ever and I can’t thank them enough. Everyone is still talking about how much they enjoyed our wedding from the food and the all the staff that was so kind and helped us navigate through the day. Gail, Grace and Madison are wonderful to work with! They were on top of literally EVERYTHING I couldn’t ask for a better team that helped us have a magical wedding day! Thank you ladies again!

The best wedding venue ever!!!
Our wedding at Great River Golf Club was everything we hoped for and more. From the planning process all the way to wedding day, they did not disappoint. Our guests could not stop raving about the delicious food, attentive service and all around beautiful venue. Chelsea and Caitlin, our bridal planner/concierge made sure my husband and I were where we needed to be and had everything done for us. We didn’t even have to ask for another drink - they just appeared! I could not say enough good things about Great River - wish we could relive our wedding day again!!

Wedding Coordinators are Incredible!
HUGE shout out to Caitlin and Lisanne for making our day exactly what we wanted, and so much more. Also, big thank you to Gail who was there throughout the long planning process. We got married at GRGC on April 23rd, 2022 and it is a day we will never forget. I appreciate Caitlin and Lisanne beyond words. The month leading to our wedding was hectic, but Caitlin was always so speedy on her responses and had the answers to all of my questions. When rehearsal day came around, both Caitlin and Lisanne were rockstars! There wasn't an event the day before so I was able to walk around the ballroom, bring all our decorations into the bridal suite and walk through my vision with Caitlin and Lisanne. I could feel their excited energy which made me even more excited about the big day! Our wedding day was pretty much flawless, all thanks to our team of wonderful women. They kept our timeline on time, were always there for any questions we had, and both truly made the evening perfect. For example, I noticed a few guests getting warm on the dance floor so I asked if we could get the doors propped open to cool off the room, two seconds later the room cooled down. Caitlin and Lisanne were SO attentive, kind, supportive, and truly amazing. There aren't words to truly describe how they made me feel on my wedding day. My husband and I had one goal, to have fun (and get married of course). We wanted everyone around us to have a good time and enjoy themselves. Caitlin and Lisanne helped us reach our goal. I should also mention, the food at Great River is SO GOOD! Our food tasting was unreal and the day-of was even better. The guests commented on how amazing all the appetizers were at cocktail hour and how delicious the entrees were. If I were to do my wedding again, I would do nothing different. Great River Golf Club was the PERFECT venue.

It's taken a bit to write this review because we truly can't stop taking in how incredible our wedding day was at Great River! My husband & I got engaged in October, booked our date in early November & got married on March 19th, with such a short time frame & a wedding of 150+ guests we knew it would be stressful, however, with the amazing support & planning from Gail, Chelsea, Lisanne & the entire Great River Team we were able to enjoy every second of planning & had no doubt in our minds that our day would be perfect! Chelsea & Lisanne went above & beyond on our wedding day, making sure everything was in line (bridal party included :) ) & we truly can't thank them enough! From the beautiful venue, the extra details, delicious food & most of all the incredible staff, it was a day we will never forget! Thank you to the entire Great River Team!!

Bridal Shower
My daughter’s Bridal Shower was held in the ballroom at Great River Country Club and it was everything I could have hoped for! Caitlyn. Our event planner, was incredibly responsive and supportive of all my questions and wishes for the shower. The cub was very easy to work with and accommodating to all our requests. The food was delicious and plentiful, and the food director worked with me to customize our brunch. I have received many compliments from guests! I would wholeheartedly recommend Great River Golf Club for wedding of showers!

Thank you very much for everything you did to make our wedding as spectacular and memorable as it was.
We could not be happier with the service provided by your staff. The level of service and attention that Julianne provided helped make the day extra special for Taylor & Dan. She went above and beyond to ensure they had everything they needed. In fact, all of the servers were courteous and provided impeccable service -- including the bartenders who were top notch!
The food was outstanding. The presentation was perfect and we received rave reviews from our guests about all of the entrees. Please extend our highest compliments to Chef Matt. We were extremely pleased with the food. Honestly, it was the best food we’ve ever had at any wedding.
Many of our guests also remarked about how beautiful the venue was, made even more so by the holiday decorations. It was simply magical.
Overall, Great River did a beautiful job and exceeded our expectations on every level imaginable.
We are out of daughters, so there won’t be another wedding, but we will look back with fond memories on the most fabulous wedding we could have asked for!

Great River is everything a bride wants in a venue. I don’t have enough great things to say. The entire staff was flawless. Chelsea always responded to my emails promptly and never made me feel like I had tons of annoying questions (which I am sure I did). She was very organized and asked me great questions to help me stay organized. Caitlin was my bridal concierge on the day of the wedding and I don’t have enough great things to say about her. She held our coats while we took photos outside, kept my bouquet in water (including overnight!), was always nearby when we needed to get into the bridal suite, had great suggestions for the photographers, and overall was just lovely to spend the day with. The food was just as we requested and the kitchen/serving staff did a great job. Everything occurred according to the timeline that I created with Chelsea. We held cocktail hour in Monty’s because of the cold weather and it had the coziest and most festive atmosphere. There is nothing I would have done differently!

Absolutely amazing wedding venue!!
I cannot recommend Great River enough as a venue!!! This was the only venue that we toured and they went above and beyond in every aspect. Caitlin answered my countless questions via email and was always very polite and accommodating. Chelsea was stellar as our day of coordinator - anticipating our needs, and making sure that we, and our guests, were well taken care of. Our guests had an absolutely wonderful time, and many of them have commented on how delicious the food was. The space was perfect for our wedding (130 people). If you are looking for a beautiful wedding venue in CT, look no further!!

The perfect day
We had the most perfect wedding day at Great River on 10/15/21. From the start, all of the staff at GR was extremely helpful, enthusiastic, and kind. Chelsea served as an excellent point person throughout the year of planning our wedding. She was quick to answer questions and make our vision come to life. Lisanne is an incredible asset to GR! She made sure our wedding day at GR was fun and went according to plan. She did it all, from carrying my train to making sure my drink was never empty. Chef Matt also did not disappoint. Our tasting was one of our favorite parts of wedding planning. We heard from all of our guests just how great the food at cocktail hour and dinner was. We were lucky to have great weather and have our ceremony at the gazebo however, we would have been just as happy to have the ceremony in the breezeway if the weather didn’t cooperate. Having a second ceremony location that was still outdoors was a huge selling point for us. The bridal suite was beautiful and my bridesmaids were excited to see champagne and fruit waiting for us. The groom and his groomsmen also had a great spot to hang in with beer on ice ready for them. The layout of the course has so many opportunities for great pictures, no matter the time of year. We would plan our wedding here one thousand times over again if we had to. Thank you GR for a day we will never forget!

Amazing Service, Food, and Venue!
I recently had my wedding reception at Great River and I can’t even begin to express enough how great they were with making our day perfect! My husband and I had a vision for our wedding and it became a reality when working with Lisanne and Chelsea! They were amazing to work with. I was a bride that had a thousand and one questions in the process of planning my vision and they answered every question I had to give me the reassurance I was looking for. When we walked into the lobby and ballroom, I started crying with how beautiful they made everything look. It was like a fairytale feeling seeing everything come together! The day of the wedding, Lisanne was amazing. I felt like a princess with how attentive she was with me and never had to worry about a thing that night because she was right alongside of me. She made sure my husband and I were taken care of and Chelsea was amazing with the guests! I couldn’t have asked for better service. My husband and I don’t have one complaint. We are still getting compliments about the food, service, and venue! We highly, strongly recommend Great River as a wedding venue!

Great Wedding at Great River
I had such a wonderful experience having my wedding at Great River Golf Club. From the day of our first visit, to the very end of our big day, the staff was exceptional.
The event coordinator, Gail, was great to work with. She was very communicative and understanding through the whole process, which was very challenging, as we planned our wedding during the COVID-19 pandemic. She kept us up to date on the guidelines and our options as she knew them.
The bridal concierges Lisanne and Carly were amazing. They took care of me all day. They kept everyone organized, made sure me and my husband always had food and drinks, and fixed my dress all day to make sure I looked my absolute best. They were absolute rock stars from the moment I arrived.
The food was phenomenal, the venue was beautiful, and I felt very well taken care of. This venue is absolutely gorgeous and 100% worth it. We had a great wedding. Thank you!

We worked with Gail, Erin, Lisanne, Grace, Dan and many others behind the scenes to coordinate our 11/20/20 wedding. We planned and booked our wedding way before the pandemic even started. Great River worked with us every step of the way. Shortly before our wedding, the numbers of guests had to be lowered per state restrictions. The team at GR came up with innovative and creative ways so we could still have a wedding that are our guests could safely enjoy. The team also worked so incredibly hard to decorate the entire venue for Christmas in ONE AND HALF short days. It was absolutely stunning. Our guests still rave about the venue, the decor, the food, and just the overall atmosphere. We loved doing our first look photographs at various locations on the gorgeous grounds including the amazing waterfall that was still running at the end of November. We were extremely lucky to have a gorgeous weather day. Thank you EVERYONE for providing Kevin and I with a wedding during a global pandemic that was safe and fun for everyone in attendance including your own dedicated staff members.

Excellent Venue
My husband and I had our wedding reception at Great River in November 2020. Two weeks before our wedding the COVID restrictions for outdoor events tightened, which caused us to have to cut 40% of our guest list. The staff of Great River, especially Gail Hunt, were quick to offer creative solutions that would prioritize the safety of all guests and staff, while also helping us keep some sense of normalcy. We had an excellent experience working with them, the venue is beautiful, the food is delicious, and the price is very reasonable! Highly recommend.

Absolutely Amazing Venue
My husband and I got married here on 10/30/2020 in the middle of a pandemic... with temperatures lower than they had been...it rained, it snowed ... anything you could think of. But the amazing and wonderful people at Great River made it the most memorable day of our lives. To start, we booked Great River before the pandemic, and when things started to get bad, we wondered what we would do about the wedding. Luckily, when things started to change and look up here in Connecticut, Great River told us that they would be getting a tent to continue to safely host weddings and other events. We were so excited that our wedding was still on! They worked with us from start to finish on food tasting, cake tasting, rehearsal dinner planning and were so helpful, especially during this time of uncertainty. Of course, as I mentioned, the day before the wedding, heavy rains caused the tent to flood, but again the people at Great River worked with us to safely move everything into the ballroom. Every guest had their temperatures checked upon entry to ensure peace of mind as well as to keep everyone healthy and safe. A week has passed since the wedding and everyone is still talking about it, still sending each other pictures and still reminiscing about the wonderful moments we all shared together. Not to mention the AMAZING food. Everyone can't stop raving about how good the food was! If you want to have a memorable, relaxed, fun and overall wonderful wedding experience I cannot recommend Great River Golf Club enough!!

Amazing experience!
We could not be more happy that we chose Great River Golf Club for our September 2020 Wedding. We knew within the first minutes of our initial tour that not only was GRGC a beautiful and perfect wedding location, but that Gail, Erin and all of the GRGC staff were friendly and dedicated. We booked GRGC in the fall of 2019, pre-covid. Once covid hit, as many 2020 couple felt, we were overwhelmed and nervous. However, Gail & Erin worked closely with us from March to our wedding date to make sure we always knew the latest guidelines, felt comfortable and were able to make needed accommodations. Our plans for the day changed many times, and throughout the process, the GRGC team was there to support us and make our vision a reality. A great example is a month before our wedding our photographer backed out, Gail recommended alternatives for us, and we booked a new photographer within days. We already have our photos and love them! Another example is 2 weeks before our wedding, we had to cancel our rehearsal dinner location due to covid restrictions. GRGC was able to host our rehearsal dinner with a private room and custom menu! With all of the last minute changes & covid restrictions, we are so grateful to say that on September 12, 2020 we had our perfect wedding, on our original date and it was even more beautiful and perfect then we ever could have imagined. The food was terrific (thank you Chef Matt & team), the requested drinks were available and delicious (Thank you Dan & team), the grounds were beautiful and more importantly our family and friends felt safe and welcome. Thank you to the whole GRGC team for making our day perfect. We recommend GRGC to couples looking for a beautiful location with a dedicated team that will support them and make their special day custom and perfect!

Our Amazing Wedding!
We just had our wedding two weeks ago at Great River Golf Club and all we can say is that it stunning. From the first time we met Gail just after we got engaged, she was so welcoming, never pushed GR on us and gave us time to make our decision, and it was pretty easy with that scenery! Throughout the wedding planning process, even with the pandemic, Gail always kept us in the loop and on schedule, she gave us the option to reschedule but support us to continue moving forward and introduced us to Erin. Erin was always attentive with emails, responding to simple questions we had, and made sure we had a great time and to EAT on our wedding night. Chelsea another team member was awesome and took some amazing pictures of our decor and set up as so many brides take so much time planning the intimate details. During our meal tasting, Chef Matt came out to introduce himself, learned about us as a couple and made special touches to bring our Irish heritage out. Several of our guest said “they wanted a straw for the Guinness Demi sauce to suck it up, it was that good” that was served with the steak. Everyone of the guests that we have spoken with have raved about the food, and the amazing service of the staff, especially during cocktail hour. It was truly an unbelievable day and as a bride and groom we never worried once about our guests and if they would be taken care of. If we had to redo it all over again, we would always choose Great River!

Perfect Wedding Venue
Gail, Lisanne, and Erin are the most amazing people to work with! We booked our wedding with Great River over two years prior to our wedding date and they worked with us every step of the way! Gail and Erin were especially flexible when it came to planning our wedding with COVID and made sure our day was safe and perfect! Lisanne was there for us every moment of our special day, whether it was holding my bouquet, fluffing my train, or making sure every detail was absolutely perfect. They all exceeded our expectations! On top of that, Great River is a beautiful golf club for a wedding.

Absolutely Wonderful
Great River was incredible to work with! With all the uncertainty (due to Covid-19) surrounding our original wedding plans, two weeks before our wedding day we reached out to Great River (Gail) and they worked with us to make our completely outdoor wedding a reality in such a short time! Our guests thoroughly enjoyed themselves, the food and couldn't get over how beautiful the grounds were. Great experience all around.

Great venue and amazing staff
Great River Golf Club has gone above and beyond since day 1. We had an amazing consultation with Erin and fell in love with this venue instantly. The services offered to us for our wedding event was very reasonably priced. Both Erin and Gail have been accommodating with all our requests and have surpassed our expectations. Erin put together a great checklist for us of everything we need up until the day of our special event, provided a great deal of vendor recommendations, and is very swift to respond to all our requests. The complimentary tasting at their restaurant, Monty's River Grille, was fantastic. We were very satisfied with the menu selection and quality of the food at the tasting. We highly recommend this venue for anybody's wedding event!

Wonderful Experience!
My husband and I were so pleased with Great River for our wedding venue! It is such a beautiful venue and the grounds are a perfect backdrop for photos. What set them apart from other venues we looked at was that we were the only wedding that day so it felt intimate and personal. We worked with Gail, Erin and Karin and all 3 of them were fantastic! They made us feel like family. They were very accommodating with our requests and responsive to our emails. I would highly recommend Great River!

Outstanding Experience
Having our wedding at Great River was the best decision we made. Our day was perfect! The wedding planning team helped us every step of the way in the planning process and responded promptly to all of our emails and questions. The venue was immaculate and decorated perfectly for the theme of our wedding. During the wedding, our bridal concierge made sure we had everything we needed and was attentive and polite. The food was delicious, and we will definitely be coming back to Monty's for dinner to celebrate our anniversary and other occasions. Overall, Great River is a fantastic venue, and we would highly recommend them!

Absolutely Amazing!
We just got married a month ago. We honestly could not have made a better decision to have our wedding at Great River Country Club. The whole venue is absolutely gorgeous and Gail, Erin, Lusanne and Dan were amazing! They took care of everything! My wedding day was so easy to deal with knowing I had them behind me. Accommodating staff that made our day unforgettable
My husband and I got married at Great River on September 14, 2019. When we were searching venues, it was most important for us to work with an accommodating staff. The entire staff at Great River exceeded our expectations with every single element of planning for our wedding. They were professional, patient, flexible, responsive and kind throughout planning into the big day. We worked with Gail and Erin throughout the whole process and Gail, Erin and Lisanne on the big day. We didn't have a wedding planner ahead of the wedding day, so having Lisanne as our day-of wedding coordinator was such a lifesaver. The whole staff had smiles on their faces the whole day and made us feel so relaxed and happy. We didn't have to worry about a thing except enjoy our wedding day and they did so much solving behind the scenes that made everything look flawless. We can't recommend this place enough. The food had such high reviews from all of our guests, their management with the vendors was seamless and they were buttoned up and always available to answer all of our questions since Day 1.

My husband and I got married at Great River Golf Course on August 31, 2019. I can not recommend this venue enough!!!!! - not only for the incredible scenery, but also because both Gail and Erin made our planning process and entire wedding day seamless and worry free. Gail answered my emails within hours, sometimes minutes, throughout the whole planning process and Erin made sure I was smiling and happy from start to finish on our big day. One of the best things about Great River is the brick breezeway because, unlike most other venues, it acts as an outdoor backup for unfortunate rainy wedding days. We thankfully didn’t have to use it, and got married at the gazebo, but you can still get married outside if it rains under the breezeway and not have to use the reception ballroom as both... we found that very unique and really important. GR is also relatively affordable compared to other venues in the area. Overall I would strongly recommend Great River as a wedding venue.

GR exceeded our expectations!
Where do I even begin…
My (now) husband and I had our wedding reception at Great River Golf Club this summer— we cannot thank the staff enough!! From the first meetings to the sparkler sendoff they fulfilled all of our expectations, plus more! Gail, Erin and Julianne made us feel completely comfortable and did whatever it took to make us feel stress-free and at ease. They went above and BEYOND to take care of all of our needs and wants. Their level of professionalism is outstanding - from the early days of planning to the execution of the event, they never once failed to accommodate. The day of the wedding Julianne ensured that I ate, stayed hydrated, fixed my dress & makeup during the photo shoot and even helped put on the heel stoppers on my shoes to ensure I wouldn’t damage them as I walked through the grass. My favorite drink is a lychee martini and although they had never heard of this drink, they researched and were able to make quite a delicious lychee martini on the day of the wedding—these ladies know customer satisfaction!
The space is incredible, and they nailed our vision in every way (even surprised us with the chairs I wanted). The FOOD...AMAZING. All of our guests commented about how delicious the food was, and how they couldn't get enough of it. They raved about how attentive the staff were. Our friends and family also couldn't believe how smoothly everything ran. This proved how incredibly well the entire team works together to ensure that every moment of the day ran seamlessly. We can't thank the team enough for the time and effort they put into making this truly, the best day ever!!

Made my dreams come true
I literally cannot say enough about Great River. They made my wedding dreams come true. Gail, Erin, and the team there made sure my wedding was everything I wanted and more. I didn't have to worry the day of they set up everything for us. They treated me like a princess. The grounds itself are so beautiful its breath taking. My guests couldn't stop talking about the wedding as whole. The food was good the bartenders were very responsive with no lines waiting for drinks. If I could do my wedding over again I wouldn't change this venue at all

May 2019 Wedding
Our wedding at Great River was absolutely beautiful. The grounds are gorgeous and our guests commented all night about how beautiful it was there. They also have a great backup rain option under their breezeway which is one of the reasons we chose the venue (so many places only have the ballroom as your backup option). It was also one of the more affordable venue options we found that had food and open bar included!
Gail, Lisanne and Erin were all amazing to work with and truly know what they’re doing. Gail always answered my constant emails promptly and kept me at ease. The night itself went smoothly, everyone had an amazing time and my husband and I didn’t have to worry about a thing.
I will always recommend Great River to brides and know they will continue doing an amazing job!

We got married on April 27, 2019 and I cannot say enough good things about Great River Golf Club. This venue is a beautiful combination of elegance an intimacy. I worked with Gail, Erin and Julianne and they are all wonderful in their own way. The day of our wedding we felt no stress at all and I wish I could relive that day everyday at Great River. My favorite thing about Great River is that it is an intimate setting and they only hold one wedding at a time. As a bride, this was a big deal for me. Excellent experience all the way around
Our wedding reception at Great River was perfect! From the professionalism of the staff, to the quality of the venue and the food, just a perfect day for us in every way. Gail and Erin were responsive to our requests, even the last minute changes and they truly enjoy their work. I can't recommend this venue highly enough. There was no stress at all from the initial preparation to the final review. Gail and Erin made our experience so enjoyable down to the very last detail. Chef Michael's food was incredible and the ease of working with the staff makes this venue a wonderful place to have a reception. Even with all the rain on the day of our wedding, the grounds were beautiful and Erin braved the weather with us, just to make sure we were happy with every aspect of our day. We could not be happier with the whole experience with Great River and with Gail and Erin specifically. They are amazing!

The team at GR were fantastic. We looked at over 20+ venues before we decided due to the pricing and outdoor ceremony space. The entire property is fantastic. The back-up for the outdoor ceremony is great because you are covered and still outside. We didn't have to use it, but in case weather was bad we could. Gail and Julianne were probably the most organized people we met. They listened to everything we requested and returned ten fold. They made our day so perfect and stress free. I highly recommend renting out Monty's grille for cocktail hour so you can have the entire property to yourself. Food was delicious. bridal and groom suites were amazing. Waterfall for pictures was beautiful and a complete surprise when we saw it the first time. Friday pricing was great and you have all day to relax and we were able to get in early to set up and prepare for the day. Thank to everyone at GR who made our day special. It was truly fantastic and we will never forget everything you did on our wedding day! We will certainly be back to visit!

I was married at Great River in June and could not be happier with the venue, food, and service we received. Gail, who was my contact leading up to the wedding, was extremely responsive and accommodating. They were able to modify the menu to fit our needs and even ordered special items for the bar for our signature cocktails that they wouldn't normally carry. Julianne, my bridal concierge, was more helpful than I could have imagined. Everything ran smoothly and they were in touch with all of my vendors ahead of time to take some of that stress off me. The whole team is courteous and capable, they even helped repair my mother's shoe when it broke. This was an all-around wonderful experience and I would highly recommend working with Great River for your wedding or event. You will be in good hands.

After visiting several venues, we came upon Great River and absolutely fell in love! We originally were going to have a fall wedding and because of the dogwood trees blooming upon entering and all the gorgeous flowers, we went with spring!
Absolutely romantic and perfect. Gail and Liz-Anne were incredible. Liz-Anne was there for Sean and I during our entire wedding asking us what we need, what can I get for you and Gail had been with us on our journey for a year. From the first tour to the first tasting to the rehearsal dinner everything was flawless.
Everything was stunning, the food was incredible, ambiance was amazing, and to be honest, we got super lucky with 80 degree weather, but would not had been disappointed if it rained because the breezeway is just as romantic as the gazebo.
We took our first look shots by the clock tower and went to the waterfall on the green to take more pictures.
An absolute dream! Thank you all so much for your hard work! Our special day was everything we could've hoped for and more.
Also, the bridal suite had since been redone and it looks great!

We honestly could not have dreamed of a better venue for our wedding! We cannot say enough great things about the entire staff, especially Gail and Julianne. They were incredibly responsive, helpful, and catered to our every wish and need. GRGC was the perfect setting for both our ceremony and reception. The reception ballroom was perfect because it fit all of our guests comfortably but it still felt very intimate so that we could see all of our guests from where we were sitting and they could see us. The food was delicious; our guests still rave about the passed hor d'oeuvres. We are SO happy with our experience at the Great River Golf Club. They truly made our dream wedding day a reality.

GRGC was unbelievable. From the beginning to the very day of our wedding and even after, with respect to holding on to stuff that got left, GRGC and our wedding consultants were fabulous. They were there the entire process, emailing me updates, confirming and re-confirming menus, table layouts, down to the details that only they would think of. The day of our wedding they were our go-to people, bringing us our favorite drinks, coordinating the entire day of events and ensuring it went off without a hitch. The venue was beyond beautiful (even with a rainy day!), the food was delicious and all staff was incredible. They all accommodated my husband and I and really made sure we felt special and taken care of.

We had our wedding reception at GRGC last month (April 2016). Everything was perfect! We worked with Lindsay who was on top of every detail, quick to respond and accomodated whatever we needed including some special requests. We were a little concerned when the venue was purchased by Sacred Heart University but Lindsay and everyone at Great River delivered the exact day we were promised from cocktail hour to dinner to the end. We did host our cocktail hour at Monty's and would recommend doing so. For the money, it is well worth it. Guests were happy to be able to sit outside to enjoy cocktail hour with the beautiful views. Also, we would highly recommend renting the wedding gold cart. This gave us a little bit of time away from everyone before the reception and the pictures are beyond beautiful. We received so many compliments about our day, many guests commented that it was one of the best weddings they ever attended.

We are so happy we went with Great River. First of all Lindsay is wonderful. She responded to all of my emails same day or next day, she answered every question I had, she even offered to personally go to the liquor store the night before our wedding because they no longer carried the whisky my husband wanted for the reception. The ballroom was beautiful, and the bridal sweet was lovely. So many of our guests commented not only on how beautiful everything was, but that the food was amazing. We will look back on our wedding day and remember how wonderful and beautiful it was thanks to Great River.

Having our wedding at Great River Golf Club was the smartest decision we made. The event staff is fantastic. They were extremely helpful throughout the planning process and on the day of the wedding there were numerous people ready to assist with anything and everything we needed. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Great River to anyone.

I realized I never wrote a review and it is coming up on our one year anniversary.. and I was thinking about just how amazing our wedding was at Great River! We had a picture perfect sunny ceremony at the gazebo, followed by a cocktail hour overlooking the golf course as the sun set, and our reception in the beautiful ballroom. Lindsay was great and so nice to work with. She was extremely organized and helpful in answering all of my questions the same day. The staff takes care of everything for you, and I was so happy on the day of when I saw that everything was set up exactly how I had envisioned it! Julianne, the concierge, was so wonderful and helpful on the day of, making sure everything went smoothly, telling us what was next, & getting us whatever we needed! We didn’t have to worry about one thing on the day of, it was all taken care of and everything flowed perfectly. We were really able to just relax and enjoy our big day! We got so many compliments on the delicious food and how absolutely beautiful the venue was. The only downside was that GR was a little pricey, and there seemed to be a cost for literally every little thing you wanted to add on. But it is worth it in the end! Thank you Great River staff for making our night so unforgettable - I wish I could do it all over again! Would definitely recommend!

The entirety of our experience with Great River honestly could not have been better! From the start, we were introduced to Lindsay who was our personal event coordinator. She was incredibly responsive to all of our questions throughout the planning process and was always a pleasure to deal with. The day of the wedding we were also given a personal bridal concierge named Wan. Wan was also incredible. She made sure we had everything we needed all day long and made sure everything ran smoothly. We also had brought a lot of decorations and Lindsay and her team set everything up exactly how we had imagined. Our guests all were raving about their meals and the venue is absolutely stunning. I also played golf before the wedding and the entire staff was congratulating me and we had an incredible day on the course. We could not have asked for a better day; and Lindsay, Wan, and the entire staff at Great River are to thank for that.

Our wedding at Great River was wonderful! The staff is very professional and extremely attentive, and Lindsay is so organized and helpful. The grounds are gorgeous and the food is delicious. We would absolutely recommend Great River to any couple looking for a stress-free wedding experience!

We had a wonderful experience planning our daughter's wedding. Lindsay was wonderful, very helpful, very knowledgeable about everything. Everything was perfect, right down to every detail. Lindsay helped us choose the vendors with a preferred list and all the choices were great. The servers were great, very kind, courteous and helpful.

Great River was the perfect place to have our wedding! The venue is so beautiful, and the staff is extremely friendly and helpful. I honestly didn't have to worry about a single thing that day, because they took care of every detail. It is now a month after the wedding, and our guests are still telling us about how much fun they had, and how much they loved the venue. I really can't thank Great River enough for making our wedding day so perfect!

Our wedding at Great River Golf Club was exceptional! The entire staff was very attendant while simultaneously remaining behind the scenes during our entire day. We could not have wished for a smoother day, which was largely due to all at GR. The event planner is absolutely tremendous! She is extremely organized, offers wonderful suggestions, and is completely accomodating throughout the entire process. She is very responsive to emails and all questions, and might become your best friend during the process! We would absolutely recommend planning an event at GR!

Overall we were very pleased with the wedding and the service that was provided. We received lots of positive feedback from our guests regarding the food, service and atmosphere of the event and staff. The one complaint I had was that the wrong seating information was used to set-up the tables and instead of working it out independently we were asked to figure out what went wrong in the middle of pictures during cocktail hour as people began to go to their seats and there weren't enough chairs.

Lindsay, Julianne and the staff did a phenomenal job. The food was excellent, the staff was attentive, and the day was perfect. We truly didn't have to worry about a thing the entire evening. They even took care of a few small mistakes my wife and I made (we forgot some place cards) I honestly couldn't recommend them any more, we do not have a single regret with having them host our wedding. We also had our rehearsal dinner at Monty's which was phenomenal. Throughout the planning process, Lindsay was responsive and helpful.
If you plan a wedding here, here are a couple of recommendations:
1. Rent out Monty's! It's expensive, but worth it. The extra space and atmosphere for the cocktail hour can't be beat. It also allows for the best rain back-up plan on site if you are planning your ceremony there. Not having to worry about the weather in the days leading up to the wedding was a big relief.
2. Julia's is one of their cake vendors, and they were awesome! We received a lot of compliments on how good take cake was, something that doesn't usually happen at most weddings.
3. We used Local Motion Ent. as the DJ, one of Great Rivers preferred vendors. Bill was fantastic and kept the dance floor going all night. He's a true professional and I couldn't recommend him enough. Also, go for the up-lighting as it really brought the room to life.

We had a fantastic wedding at Great River last month, and such wonderful comments from our guests about the food (one of the most important things to us!), venue, and staff! Our wedding day was so smooth and well organized the only thing we had to worry about was if we had gotten to spend enough time with each of our guests, many who said it was one of the best weddings they had ever been to. I would definitely recommend Great River for a venue to host your rehearsal dinner and wedding. From planning up through the big day they were wonderful to work with!

Our experience, start to finish, at Great River was spectacular. EVERY detail was considered when preparing. The day and night of the wedding was wonderful as well. Any "glitches" (there are always some) were immediately attended to by our Great River consultants which allowed the whole event to proceed seamlessly. We couldn't have been happier. Lindsay was extremely accommodating and professional throughout the process of planning our wedding. She was very responsive and patient with any and all questions we had. On the day of, she and the rest of the staff were always one step ahead of what we needed. In addition, they were very understanding when we were running late to our first look, not skipping a beat to make sure we got back on track. Everything was setup the way we had hoped and we couldn't have asked for a better group to help us celebrate one of the biggest, most important days of our lives.

We had an excellent experience on our wedding day at Great River Golf Club. Lindsay was very helpful leading up to the event and was very easy to work with. Her attention to detail was excellent. She had everything covered on the day which allowed us to really relax and enjoy our time. One of the things that really stood out to us was how expertly she set up our centerpieces. All we had to do was explain a rough idea of what we wanted and she totally ran with it. Needless to say the room looked amazing when we first walked in after the ceremony had concluded. The event staff were excellent on the day as well. Lisanne was basically our personal assistant all day. She took great care of us, making sure we had everything we needed from drinks to help with photos. She was extremely attentive, but never in the way. With all of the thoughtful planning (and sometimes stress) that goes into a wedding, when the day came it was beautiful and all of the planning was carried out with tremendous expertise. Our guests are still calling/emailing us saying how great the food was, how beautiful the venue was, and most of all what a great time they had! We will definitely recommend Great River Golf Club to others looking for a venue. Thank you again Lindsay (and Great River staff) for making our day such a blast!

I would recommend this venue to any bride looking to book her wedding. The coordinator was extremely helpful and responsive leading up to the wedding. She would respond to emails in a very timely way, was always willing to provide recommendations and willing to work around our schedules for meetings. On the day of, the staff took care of us- they greeted us getting out of the limo, made sure we had everything we needed during photos, and were by our sides the whole night (not in an annoying overbearing way but always made sure our glasses were full and we were where we needed to be.) The venue itself made for a very elegant wedding and my husband and I had the time of our lives! If I had to do it all over again I would most definitely pick GR again!!
