Genesis Delight Catering was amazing to work with for our wedding! Lindsay was super responsive and thoughtful, thinking of details we would have missed and ensuring the day was planned perfectly for a smooth flow. The staff was efficient, kind, and professional. They ensured that we were able to eat throughout the night, bringing over appetizers during our family photos and having our food ready for us as soon as we entered the reception. The food itself was amazing and we received so many compliments on how great it was after the wedding. The staff was so thoughtful in packaging some to-go boxes for us to take home with us so that we could continue to enjoy the food after the wedding was over.
Prices are also VERY reasonable and we were able to stay within our budget easily with lots of options to choose from. Highly recommend Genesis Delight Catering for your next event! -

I dreamed for years of having a brunch wedding. I wanted bagels, an omelette bar, and all the other breakfast staples. When I contacted Lindsay from Genesis Delight, she was totally on board. Lindsay was always willing to respond to my emails asking about different options. She even worked with us to cater in special bagels since we wanted our favorite DC bagel shop included in the day. She was always willing to try out our fun ideas like a coffee cart before the wedding and passed milkshakes for dessert. We did a doughnut wall for our "cake" and Genesis Delight even surprised us with a big doughnut to cut for the pictures! Considering what some caterers charge in the area, we feel that we got even better service than some of the other options for a much more affordable price. I can't say enough good things about Genesis Delight and highly recommend them to provide a fantastic meal for your day! -

We used Genesis Delight Catering for our June 2024 wedding and they were wonderful to work with and the food was great! Lindsey was our coordinator through out the planning process and went above and beyond to help us plan our wedding. Lindsey was responsive, knowledgeable and wonderful to work with; emails were prompt and she helped us think ahead about all the details we needed to stay on top of. We provided our own alcohol for the wedding and Lindsey was super helpful in identifying the appropriate quantities and ensuring we were all set for the big day! We also really appreciated how accommodating Genesis was as we updated our floor plans/seating chart as we approached the wedding; as numbers changed they helped us update our tables and chairs and stayed on top of all our changing details. They were accommodating in setting up our tables and chairs a day early so we could more easily do our decorating; and the tables and chairs looked great! Their staff on the day of the wedding was professional, friendly and provided great service. The food came out wonderfully and we had numerous people say how good everything tasted! We highly recommend working with Genesis Delight Catering - they helped make our day so special and delicious! -

TERRIFIC, Professional Caterer
Lindsay did an amazing job of working with us to create a custom menu for our daughter's recent wedding. It was not easy - we asked for a custom pork dish from Nicaragua and a number of special side dishes, and the chef NAILED it. Paired with the chicken with poblano cream sauce and other items from their extensive and interesting menu options, and we had a terrific buffet to offer our guests. We also offered 2 signature cocktails and several lovely appetizers that pleased our highly varied guests (vegans, vegetarians, pescatarians, folks who can't eat gluten/lactose, ETC) and received ENDLESS compliments on the food. -

I have nothing but wonderful things to say about Genesis Delight. They were amazingly flexible and worked with us to create a wonderful menu for our dinner reception. The food was delicious and beautifully displayed. I also loved the table linens and cutlery options. In the weeks before the wedding, we decided to add-on a separate cocktail reception at our church before guests transitioned to the dinner, and they came up with a tasty, custom menu for this as well. All at a wonderful price! Top-notch value all-around. -

Working with Genesis Delight, and Lindsay in particular, was great from beginning to end. The proposal, tasting, communication, and all other things that come up in between, was great. Working with Genesis was easy and stress free, and the food was delicious (according to me and my husband, but also all of our family and friends)! The ability to work with one caterer who could handle everything seamlessly was awesome! -

Genesis Delight was a great choice for our wedding!
We were able to choose from a variety of package options and a large menu. Dianna and staff provided a thorough tasting that gave us the opportunity to choose food options we loved and knew would be delicious!
She was also very accommodating in making updates to our catering contract to adjust for evolving needs, guest count, and to provide alternative meals for various dietary restrictions.
The food all turned out great, and we heard from many happy guests. The service went without a hitch, the bartenders kept drinks flowing, and my husband and I didnt have to worry about anything. The highlight of the night seemed to also be the donut wall that Genesis Delight provided - there were several flavors guests could choose, and they were all devoured! would highly recommend this vendor. -

They were incredible since we signed the contract. The food was the best - said by our guests- they did an special Desi Dish (Chicken Karahi) and everyone loved it.
They were super clean, organized and everything!

Professional, Good Communication, Delicious
Dianna and her crew were so great to work with during the wedding process. They listened to us and implemented our food-vision with flair. We wanted good, hearty food to help soak up the wine at our vineyard wedding, and they hit the nail on the head. No one left hungry OR excessively drunk. They even worked with us to create a specialty salad which was the highlight of my dinner. They also worked with us on the linen, plates, and glassware and advised us well.Genesis Delight Catering's reply:

We are so happy we went with Dianna and her team! Genesis Delight is not just a company, it felt like family. The food was awesome! The staff was fantastic! We couldn’t of been happier. Genesis Delight Catering service was a very tasty culinary experience with their pasta bar that we had ordered for our event. Chef Ruben was on the stove whipping up custom to order pasta dishes for our guests. With the smell of fresh food cooking, my mouth was watering till I could get a fork full into my mouth. The rest was history ... psst ... I went back for seconds! Amazing experience!
From start to finish Genesis Delight was truly an amazing experience! They did the catering for our wedding and we don’t regret it at all. In our first meeting with them we told them how we would like our wedding to be and they helped make that a reality. Food was delicious, decoration was beautiful and service was beyond professional. I know many couples can relate to the experience my husband and I went through as we had a wedding planned during the COVID-19 pandemic. Our original plan was to have 150 guests, and we ended up needing to cut that down to just our parents and siblings in a beautifully intimate ceremony and reception. Weeks before our event, we inquired with Genesis Delight Catering, and the team here was extremely responsive and personalized our experience. They answered all of our questions with kindness and professionalism. The day of, they came to set up early, provided quality food, and impeccable service. We received compliments from every guest about how delicious their food was. In addition, the team from Genesis Delight Catering was a huge part of why our "Plan B" wedding ended up becoming the day of our dreams. Thank you so much GDC, we can't wait to work with you all again! I highly recommend to anyone planning an event to consider this catering service if you want one less thing to worry about and have excellent results! -

I was very lucky to find Genesis Delight catering for my wedding. They immediately contacted me back, sent me menus, accommodated my food allergies, and answered all of my questions. I was so impressed by their vast menu and also that they provided tables, cups, dishes, napkins, everything I could need. They never lost contact and are very professional. Once our special day came, the entire crew was incredibly attentive, provided amazing service, and served delicious food. With this company, we did not have to worry about anything at all. They served my guests and bartended with ease, and were top notch. I would recommend this service for any event. -

Smooth Planning and Execution with GDC!
We worked with Genesis Delight Catering at the recommendation of our venue manager at Sweeney Barn. We formed a close working relationship with Dianna over the course of wedding planning, as we also contracted her as our day of coordinator through her event planning business, Sublime Event Coordination. GDC and Dianna have a strong working knowledge of Sweeney Barn and close working relationships with the venue manager, which makes them a great option if you're having your wedding there.
Pros of our experience with GDC:
-They have an extensive menu and are willing to be flexible to match your vision. My family is predominantly located in New York, and New York weddings tend to have very over the top cocktail hours. That was not common in the standard packages offered by the caterers we spoke to in Virginia. However, through the use of their extensive party platter options and Dianna's expertise, we were able to add more into the cocktail hour than the standard options and still stay within budget. It wasn't a New York cocktail hour, but there were plenty of options and no one went hungry.
-GDC provided the bar (which honestly wasn't overly expensive and saved us the pain of having to coordinate bringing our own alcohol, which no one wants to deal with on the day of their wedding) and worked with us on identifying signature cocktails that could be batched by their bartenders based on our preferences. They also worked with us to swap out some of their standard wine and liquor options to similarly priced items that we enjoy.
-Sweeney Barn only has a warming kitchen, and we appreciated Dianna working with us to ensure that we could still have a small dance set at the start of our reception without impacting the quality of the food.
-GDC works directly with rental companies, saving you the trouble (we rented Chiavari chairs), and they have nice complementary table setting options. Props to Dianna for identifying a floral napkin option in stock to fit with our overall decor theme!
-Staff made sure the bride and groom were taken care of at all times, which was a really nice touch.
We received many compliments on the food, including the presentation of entrees at dinner. Strongly recommend GDC, especially if you're working at one of their frequented venues like Sweeney Barn, to make your planning and execution as seamless as possible. -

I would highly recommend Genesis Delight to cater your wedding. The food was fantastic and I felt like the quality endured from the two person tasting to the 100 person wedding. I got comments like, “your food was probably the best wedding food I’ve ever had” and notes of how the food was still warm once it hit the table (which is not always the case at weddings) and how much people liked the signature drinks (vodka cinnamon apple mule and bourbon Manhattan).
What we ate: Atlantic salmon with an apple cider glaze, broccolini and confetti orzo; beef medallions (other steaks are an up charge) with a sherry wine demi with mashed potatoes and broccolini, and Frenched chicken with a honey dijon sauce, broccolini, and confetti orzo. All three were so good. We also had 2 vegan plates, which were an additional $12 per plate.
Things to keep in mind:
I would be hesitant doing a sit down dinner at Sweeney Barn because it took almost 30 minutes to get some tables plated. This is due to Sweeney’s kitchen being downstairs but (most people have) the reception upstairs. Because of this, other catering companies only offer buffet dinners at Sweeney. I THINK this might be avoided with more staff (we had 8 waiters for a 100 person wedding). Just something to consider, if you have a sit-down dinner at Sweeney.
Also, several people did not get cake. We ended up taking home almost a whole sheet of cake (each sheet served 50 people). This is because the staff was handing people plates as they passed them instead of putting them on the tables. I would recommend instructing your caterers to put the cakes on the tables or a single dessert table and having the DJ announce it to avoid this situation.
We did not do our food tasting until after we signed the contract. There are pros and cons to this. If you do the food tasting before signing the contract you have to pay for it. If you do it after, its included in your package; however if you dont like the food then youre kind of screwed, so we got lucky the food was delicious. We did NOT get to try everything - we tried our 5 appetizers and each of the entrees but we did not try the salad or the entree sides. We also didnt like one of the appetizers so switched it for another, which we did not get to sample.
Overall, Genesis did an exceptional job and as long as the food was so good, I couldn’t ask for much more. My favorite was one of our appetizers - tomato soup with a mini grilled cheese. Presentation was SO cute and it was delicious. During dinner I was so excited I was having a hard time eating the dinner and when I asked for one more tomato soup with grilled cheese, Genesis made it happen. Amazing. -

The food was great and the linens/dishes/etc. were all set up beautifully. This vendor came highly recommended and I feel like their services are really affordable for someone paying for their own wedding. Unfortunately, they stopped responding to us before our wedding and we were worried that we were scammed at one point because two weeks before our wedding we had not heard anything from them (both called AND emailed). The excuse was that the email went to spam, but that does not explain the unanswered phone calls from me or my coordinator. I was willing to let that go, as I knew it was busy season, but then on the wedding day guests heard one of their management staff yelling at the servers, which is not ok and super unprofessional. And, they ASKED for tips after the contract INCLUDES gratuity. It's unclear to me if the gratuity goes to management, but the gratuity was not optional. Ultimately, I feel like they were really unprofessional and I can only hope this was just a rough time for the company because I heard really positive things from other vendors who worked with them.
