If you’re looking for top notch customer service and a phenomenal wedding dress experience this is the place! The owner Ama was a miracle worker! My mom passed down her wedding dress to me, that was over 40 years old. Ama was able to restore, make some modern changes, and create a beautiful dress that fit me perfectly! I didn’t realize how long something like this would take, so when I expressed the short deadline I had, Ama surprised me with her sense of urgency and worked overtime to make sure my experience and final product was everything I had hoped for. It actually turned out way better than I even thought! She was so sweet, personable, and extremely talented at what she does. The venue was intimate and you can tell she loves what she does. I couldn’t have asked for better results and I would recommend this place to any bride looking for a stress free experience and the wedding dress of their dreams. She captured mine and my moms vision, while offering her own suggestions that made all the difference. Absolutely loved it! -

Just after talking to Ms. Ama on the phone I knew I had found the right place. I went to the appointment and she was nice and very friendly. She was very straight forward and honest about what the dress needed. I was happy with the quote I was given and excited to work with her.
She is a hidden gem :-) -

My dress was altered to my liking, I took my mother, aunt, daughter and a two nephews plus my mother in law and sister in law to see me try on the dress and the all loved it. Thank you -

I could not have been happier with how my dress turned out. Amma took the top of one dress, the bottom of another, added some bling (and pockets), and made it perfect to me. I would highly recommend, considering I also only gave her 2 months to make it happen. -

Ms. Ama helped my daughter find her dream dress. She is amazing - a seamstress and fashion consultant all in one person! From our first visit through final alterations, we have many happy memories of our daughter's wedding preparations thanks to Genesis. -
User2240944 Sent on 07/24/2015With Ama's help and amazing skill I had the perfect wedding dress for my wedding this June!!! I found a dress at her store that wasn't what I had been picturing for my wedding dress, but when I tried it on I knew it was the one!! Since it is no longer for sale from the designer, Ama worked her magic to take the off-rack dress from a size 14 to a size 6, and she did it seamlessly!! Even though she had to cut the dress size in half, the flow of the dress and the design did not change. It was an impressive feat. Not only did she deliver the perfect dress, Ama was also a joy to work with. She is very easy to talk to and makes you feel very comfortable. Along the way, she listened to things I wanted to change and she delivered! Not only that, but she made last minute alterations the week of my wedding to make sure it was perfect. I definitely recommend Genesis Bridal as a stop on your wedding gown hunt!! -

User1052764 Sent on 12/26/2012I can't say enough about how wonderful Ama is! She is the shop owner at Genesis Bridal and she has truly become a friend throughout my wedding dress process. I heard so many horror stories about wedding dress shopping and alteration nightmares and this was a dream! I arrived at Ama's shop with my mom on a whim and Ama let me try on dresses even without an appointment. I found the perfect dress which was half off and a size 12. I am a size 0 so this was concerning until Ama pinned the dress up for me so that I could see what it would look like. I couldn't wait to have her work on my alterations.
I live in Colorado and am getting married in NC but my family lives in MD, so needless to say location was a problem! Ama made appointments throughout the year which worked with when I would be in town visiting family. The very first time I went back to get measured for the alterations, Ama had already taken the dress in WITHOUT ME THERE!! She didn't even have to take measurements and it fit like a glove! She had a little bit more hemming to do so I went back for my final fitting and everything fit wonderfully, I love my dress!! I also have been searching for veils everywhere that aren't $200 and she had a great selection for wonderful prices (mine was $28!). She gives great advice about jewelry and even works on jewelry. G

She is also hemming my mom's mother-of-the-bride dress, we will never go to anyone else! I would HIGHLY recommend Genesis Bridal and Ama's alterations to anyone! -

Marie Sent on 12/12/2012Service was amazing! You can clearly tell that Mrs. Amponsah's passion is in her work. She loves what she does and it shows! I didn't buy my dress there, but I went there for my alterations. She complimented me on the dress choice, altered as needed, and the cost for alterations is very reasonable for being on a budget.
I also thoroughly appreciated the Christian atmosphere that Mrs. Amponsah has in her store. If I ever need alterations for ANYTHING, I will be going back to Genesis Bridal & Formal! -
Joy Sent on 07/29/2018Ms. Ama helped to alter a big ol' princess ballgown into the wedding dress of my wildest dreams! Dialogue was open and Ms. Ama was receptive to the descriptions and the details I provided about the dress design. As a master seamstress, Ama was able to offer ideas and suggestions that would enhance the dress; she was also able to figure out ways to engineer undergarments and layers that would make my dress comfortable and visually appealing. Ms. Ama took time to remove & replace (by hand!) some crystals and gems to make the top half of the dress more appealing. In the end, I was ecstatic with the results and our wedding guests were in awe of the fun wedding gown created by Ms. Ama! AND she made sure all purchases and alterations stayed within my budget!
If you would like Ms. Ama's services, here are some suggestions:
-PLAN AHEAD and START EARLY.
-Have a clear idea of what you want (including material, colors, style/design with picture examples, like from Pintrest, Google, magazines, etc.) AND your budget before your first appointment. This will make the best use of your time and her time.
-Note that there is probably a fee for your first appointment. When you schedule the initial appointment, ask what the expected fee will be for that appointment. And be prepared to pay said fee before you leave on the day of your appointment. (Remember, time is money to all businesses.)
-Note that Ms. Ama is busy, especially in the months leading up to & including prom and wedding season. (We began designing my dress in November, and it was ready by May for my June wedding.)
-Speak up if you don't like or want to change something during the process. (I did, and Ms. Ama was able to fix the design to my liking!) -
