Lora was incredible to work with. She was responsive and made the entire process of tasting and delivering our cake super easy.
She baked me extra cakes to take home to my partner so he could be part of the process and was able to make our two layers the two different flavors that we loved.
And when I say this was the most delicious cake I've ever had I'm not even kidding -- sometimes the tradeoff for a beautiful cake is that it looks better than it tastes but we selfishly wouldn't let anybody else eat our cake (we gave them sheet cakes) so that we could absolutely INHALE our leftover cake after the wedding - it was that good!

Amazing, delicious cakes for Weddings and Other Venues
When the various wedding vendors ask, "Who's making the wedding cake?" and the response is Gateau Bakery, all of the replies were " Wonderful! I'm definitely having a piece." From the different wedding vendors, this response by itself is a rare compliment and testimony to the bakery's amazing flavors, texture, appearance and overall cake deliciousness. And yes, the bride, groom, family members and guests loved it too! Lora at Gateau Bakery offers a wide variety of cake flavors and designs, in addition to icing styles and selection. We served about 100 people at my daughter's recent wedding at Rixey Manor. With one three-tiered cake and a sheet cake, there was plenty to serve and still save the top tier for the bride and groom. And second day old cake tastes amazing too. Thank you, Lora for a beautiful and delicious cake.

Beautiful and classic cake 10/10
I would recommend Gateau cakes to anyone! Our wedding cake was not only beautiful but soo delicious and all our guests kept telling us how great the cake was. Tiered wedding cakes tend to be dry but this cake was moist and tasted great, offering more complex flavors than the other bakeries we sampled. We also loved that we could get Swiss merengue or Italian buttercream as we’re not fans of American buttercream since it’s overly sweet. We chose a cake slightly larger than what we needed to have leftovers and an anniversary cake topper and we’re so glad we did, she even provided a box to save our top layer. We ordered the wedding bliss flavor and it was such a crowd pleaser. For the price, we thought this cake went beyond our expectations. Thank you Gateau cakes!

Best cake ever!
We got the Wedding Bliss cake from Lora, and it was sooo good! Our guests thought so too - when cake was served the dance floor was completely empty while everyone enjoyed cake. We even had people enjoying it who typically aren't fans of cake (I know, how is that even possible!?). It was just the best! :)

The best wedding cake
Your search for a cake baker ends here – hire Gateau. Lora not only bakes the most delicious cakes, but she is kind, creative, experienced, passionate and incredibly talented. Seriously, this is the best wedding cake I’ve ever had and many of our guests said the same. It was flavorful (we went with the vanilla raspberry flavor with buttercream) and the texture was truly perfect, not to mention beautiful. They are a work of art. Lora is easy to work with and will bring your perfect cake design to life. Her cakes are also reasonably priced for the quality of cake you receive. Though I see some people moving away from traditional wedding cakes, I think it is a special part of your reception and important touch on the overall experience for your you & your guests. Gorgeous, delicious, unforgettable wedding cake
Gateau was easy (possibly the only "easy" wedding decision/planning task), incredible, and perfect for our wedding day needs.
Lora was very friendly, organized, responsive, and thoughtful throughout our wedding planning. She clearly has a real passion for what she is doing and wants everyone else to feel it too- through a love of pastry and deliciousness!
First, the vision: I sent Lora 2-3 photos of a cake design (tone on tone lacy piped design cascading down the 4-layer cake) I found on Pinterest, and from those few photos, she created EXACTLY what we wanted! The cake was stunningly perfect and created a beautiful visual medium that set the tone during our reception. Lora takes almost any creative idea you present to her and without question, turns it into a wedding cake masterpiece.
Next, the taste: WOW. I had never had better wedding cake in my entire life and my guests said the same. Every flavor (we did multiple classics) were moist but held a wonderful crumb, buttery and rich but not overdone, well-balanced with sweet, creamy, and tart, and beautifully layered. Even the fondant (necessary top layer for designs), which usually is not my desired texture or taste, was very tasty and welcomed on top of the layered slices. My personal favorite was the perfectly zingy yet buttery lemon cream flavor.
Last, the professionalism: There were no concerns from Lora or us throughout the process. She did not burden us with lots of questions or "what ifs." She was a pro in taking on our project with true expertise and delivering with ease.
I also MUST mention the incredible attentiveness and role she played in our more difficult than normal allergen requests- my groom is allergic to gluten, dairy, soy, legumes, nuts, and sesame, and she was able to produce a smaller groom's cake for us that was not only completely safe for him and his family to eat, but SO TASTY that you couldn't tell what it was "missing." It was amazing that Lora could produce both completely different cakes without missing a beat and providing us a perfect experience for what could have been stressful with all of the food allergies. She is well-versed in what allergen-free ingredients taste the best and also in how to prevent all cross contamination, which we cannot express our gratitude and appreciation for enough.
Gateau was ideal for our unforgettable wedding day and I cannot recommend them enough- hire them! Eat their decadent cakes and spread the word! You will not regret it.

Exquisite flavor & presentation, wonderful to work with
Lora was incredibly professional, understanding and kind to work with throughout the many changes we had to make to our 2020 wedding order. As soon as we took the first bite of our tasting we knew we wanted Gateau as the baker for our wedding cake. Not too sweet and wonderfully light. We had already seen the pictures and knew her cakes were beautiful. We started off with a large wedding and ordered the Wedded Bliss flavor (strawberries & cream) for our wedding cake and the Peach Cobbler flavor for the groom’s cake. As it turned out we had a wedding for 25 people, kept the Wedded Bliss flavor for the wedding cake and sent everyone home with a box of 4 cupcakes - 2 Wedded Bliss and 2 Peach Cobbler. We kept a box for ourselves and put it in the freezer for our first anniversary which we just celebrated (I’m a little behind writing my wedding vendor reviews..) and those bad boys were delicious after having been frozen for a year! Pardon the picture - I forgot to take it before we had already eaten 2 LOL. Do yourself a favor and use this bakery for anything and everything you can.

Perfect Wedding Cake!!
This Naked Wedding Cake was perfect!! The top layer was Vegan for the Bride and Groom and Lora had the experience and education to make it perfect. The cake was delicious and her attention to detail was exceptional. Delivery was on time and we did not have to wonder about anything. Lora was quick to adjust for a wedding postponement due to Cover, and very easy to work with at all times.

I highly recommend! Lora took my pumpkin obsession and made it into a beautiful two tiered naked cake. We also got 100 cupcakes. It was so delicious I'm counting down the days until our one year anniversary to eat the cake top! Lora hand delivered my cake and put some of the extra flowers we had on it since we didn't have a cake topper. It was a beautiful cake inside and out!!!

Lora is an amazing baker! We had a wonderful experience from the very start when we did our tasting at her beautiful tea room in Warrenton. I HIGHLY recommend Gateau Bakery. It's a small, local, woman-owned bakery. The owner and pastry chef, Lora is extremely experienced, kind, friendly, and had no concerns about making my wedding cake highly customized. We had individual and separated cakes for gluten-free, vegan, dairy-free, and "normal" and got high compliments on every single cake. (I did cross taste them myself and confirm they were all delicious.) She makes all the cakes from scratch and keeps in touch with you through the entire process (your first tastings will be in the tea room with Lora herself!). Also, my wedding was local so Lora hand-delivered each cake to my wedding, and helped with the cake-related flowers/decorations to ensure it turned out perfectly.

Lora and Gateau were a pleasure to work with for our wedding day. We had Gateau cake at another wedding, and were amazed by how delicious and moist it was. When our wedding venue also recommended Gateau, we sampled a few flavors and found our wedding cake! Lora was very responsive over email and communicative with our vision as well. One thing to keep in mind is on the day of the wedding, you really are not supervising the cake etc arriving, which I only saw at the reception. You really want someone you can trust, and Lora came highly recommended to me, and I would recommend her to anyone. I ate 3 pieces of the wedding cake and am not even a cake person :)

Gateau makes custom wedding cakes, but they also have an economical line called Simply Sweet. We went with this option, as we wanted a simple one tier cake. The order process was very easy, and Gateau did a great job!

Our wedding cake and groom's cake for our 9/29/18 were beautiful and were seriously the best cakes I've ever had. The cake was one of the most important details for me--not so much the design, but I wanted my guests to be blown away by the taste. They are still telling me about the cake--I brought some thawed pieces (from our freezer) to guests who had to leave before we cut the cake--and they loved it. We've had a little bit every now and then with some wine--and we will be sorry when it is gone! We used one of Lora's designs from her Simply Sweet line (the Fabienne)--and it was perfect. Lora's Green Bay Packers design for our groom's cake was awesome. We chose the "Wedding Bliss" flavor for the wedding cake and the "Chocolate Fantasy" for the groom's cake--amazing. The other flavors we chose for our tasting (we got the freshly made boxed samples--great for busy couples!) were divine as well--you'll have a hard time choosing!

We absolutely LOVED working with Lora. Her shop is so beautiful and she is so nice, we actually stayed to chat with her for about an hour after our wedding cake tasting appointment. Her cakes are phenomenal. I really cannot state that enough. We really had a hard time deciding on which flavor because they were all so good. We ended up selecting a Velvet Vanilla flavored Simply Sweet Non-Custom Cake and decorated with flowers. We provided Lora with a photo of our vision and she executed it beautifully. We also ordered Cinnamon Pear macrons as wedding favors. Our wedding guests were so complimentary of the cake and macrons. Many of our guests asked us where and how we found our baker. After our cake cutting, we asked our wedding planner to please cut a big hunk of cake and have it delivered to our room. After the wedding, we literally sat on the floor of our room and shared a giant piece of wedding cake. It was a one of many highlights of our night. We are already planning to purchase another cake for our birthdays this fall and planning to order a smaller cake for our anniversary next year. We are determined to try all of the flavors now. The quality and flavors were really excellent. It was one of the best coconut cakes I've every had. Lora is also very responsive, accommodating and easy to work with. Gateau cakes are amazing! Lora was always very responsive, and her cakes are beautiful, and taste fantastic! We wanted a Harry Potter groom's cake and she designed it herself, it was beautiful and the pumpkin spice flavor was delicious! Because I was the bride I unfortunately did not have time to eat a big piece, but our guests could not stop talking about how delicious the cake was and how pretty it was. I want to order more cakes from her for all occasions!

Lora was so wonderful to work with. We had two different flavored cakes and all of our guests said that it was the best wedding cake they had ever had. We especially appreciated how Lora was able to work with us to accommodate my husband's niece (our flower girl) who has severe food allergies. She was able to provide us cupcakes that were delicious, allergen-free, and was very careful to make sure that her products did not contain any of the food we specified. We had a very happy flower girl that night! Lora's cakes were worth every penny!

We used Gateau for our wedding cake and macaron tower. Our cake was delicious and beautiful and guests commented that the flavors tasted very natural. Lora took detailed notes at our tasting and was able to decorate based on ideas and sample pictures. Each of our three layers was a different flavor--I only wish I had a chance to try them all at my wedding!

I can't tell you how many people came up to me during and after the wedding to tell me this was the best wedding cake they ever tasted. Lora even went the extra mile to make my husband a personal dairy free tiramisu that was out of this world. She made the whole experience stress free. Lora was recommended to us by our venue and it was a great recommendation. We chose a custom travel themed wedding cake. The cake was better than I could have imagined. It tasted amazing and looked amazing. We had a four tier "luggage" cake where each tier looked like a vintage suitcase with a tone on tone color scheme of ivory and gold. It was perfect. Lora was a great vendor to work with!

My mom and I met with Lora with not really an idea of what I wanted to the cake to be! I knew I wanted a smaller cake, that was simple, rustic looking! We tried 3 different flavors, but we knew immediately that the Almond Raspberry Dream would be the one! It was delicious and perfectly moist! We picked a very simple textured design for the cake and we promised to have flowers available for placement on the 2 tiered cake! Only our immediate family was served cake because the rest of the guests had donuts and every single person loved it! We had some leftover of our bottom tier and we definitely finished it within a week of our wedding! It was absolutely delicious! Lora was very easy to work with and we can't thank her enough for a beautiful, delicious cake! Thank you!!!

Our cake from Gateau was beautiful! Lora helped make us a gorgeous, custom cake topper with sculpted birds and it was perfect! Not only were the cardinals adorable, but they were even true to nature, with a male cardinal and a female cardinal with differentiated colors. Moreover, the cake was delicious! My husband & I were married on May 21st and we couldn't be happier with our cakes. We ordered a carrot cake for the rehearsal dinner & an almond raspberry cake for our wedding and both of them were AMAZING. Hands down the best cakes we've ever had. We met Lora during our tasting at the Airlie and sampled several of her regular mini cupcakes - the cake is moist, the frosting is fluffy, and there's a little bit of smooth filling inside.. So we inquired about gluten free options and scheduled a private tasting. Lora was so helpful and easy to work with. She helped us craft our perfect GLUTEN FREE cake, inside and out. We chose Wedding Bliss, Velvet Vanilla, and Neapolitan tiers. She decorated our cake beautifully on the spot, day of our wedding, with fresh flowers we provided. We also ordered gluten free mini vanilla cupcakes as treats for the children - they LOVED them and couldn't wait for us to cut the big cake. Every one of our guests thought the cake was incredible - many said it was the best ever! We will definitely call Lora and Gateau Distinctive Cakes again for our cake needs!

I would absolutely recommend Gateau a million times over. I have many wedding guests still telling me that it was "the most delicious wedding cake they've ever had"! Even the most basic flavor, the Velvet Vanilla, received rave reviews. Lora was so responsive, kind, and easy to work with. Definitely go with Gateau!

After trying what felt like a dozen different bakeries that claimed themselves to provide a gluten-free service, nothing matched up to Gateau! We decided to give Gateau a try as there were recommended by our venue and boy were we grateful for that recommendation. First we got to pick the flavors we wanted to try and customize every bit of our cake. Instead of getting a full size cupcake (which I think tastes different from actual cake) Lora made for us an actual slice of cake! This was refreshing since we walked out of many tastings comatose from sugar overload. We told her how many we wanted to serve and sent pictures of what we wanted the cake to look like and it turned out so beautiful. The Wedding Bliss flavors tasted exactly as we remembered from our tasting/consultation meeting which is an even better bonus. Light and delicious! Thank you for fulfilling our (necessary) gluten free sweet tooth!

From our first tasting at Gateau, we knew all our guests would be thrilled come dessert time. We wanted something slightly less traditional than the normal wedding cake and Lora was game to help us. We decided to go with mini cupcakes in 3 different flavors and a small 6" cake that my groom and I could cut into. The guests raved about the cupcakes all night and loved having a little sweet treat to take along with them at the end of the night! We would highly recommend Gateau to any bride and groom. The flavors offered are all delicious.

Our cake testing was one of the best experiences I ever had at a tasting of any kind and it was difficult to just pick one flavor. So we elected two! The Almond Raspberry Dream and Pineapple Passion. TO DIE FOR! All our guest could not stop talking about how delicious the cake was and nothing was left over even though we ordered extra to take some home. It has only been 14 days since the wedding and I am still dreaming about the absolutely stunning cake Lora at Gateau made for my big day. From the cake tasting to the delivery, everything was flawless. My then fiance and I went to her bakery (located in the basement of her home at the moment!) and tried four flavors. We loved all four so much, we decided to have one tier dedicated to each flavor with four tiers total. Lora also beautifully crafted an ombre cake that I had been envisioning for some time, but since she uses all natural products (not even her food coloring has artificial anything), she knew that starting the purple ombre too dark would end up dyeing my guests' lips purple. I was grateful that she took the time to make sure the color of the cake was stunning enough for an ombre effect, but did not do damage to my guests' faces :). Lora- we are so grateful for you. My photographer used your mastery for her vow renewal cake, my wedding planner sung your praises, and it is so obvious why. Your work is stunning and the cake was as delectable as it was beautiful. Lora is a talented baker running a full-on cake factory out of her house, with staff and all. Originally I was just looking at ordering cupcakes from her but after tasting her cakes and seeing her designs, we decided to order a small cake. It was DELICIOUS and BEAUTIFUL! We had a cherry blossom fondant cake. She is really capable of doing any design. Our flavors were salted caramel and Neapolitan, both of which I highly recommend. Not too sweet at all but tons of flavor, with wholesome ingredients. We also ordered vegan cupcakes from her which are just as tasty as her normal cupcakes!
She delivers but we chose to do pick-up- delivery might be a good idea if you have a tall cake or a ton of guests.
If you want a free tasting, make sure to schedule far in advance- since I scheduled it kind of last minute I ended up just paying for a sampler box, but that was fine with me.

Lora at Gateau Distinctive Cakes did my wedding cake and it was SO GOOD. I loved working with Lora, she made it a very simple process and the cake was delicious and gorgeous. I did a cake tasting and decided on a 4-tiered cake, half carrot cake and half velvet vanilla. I selected one of the Simply Sweet basic designs and my florist provided flowers to decorate the cake with. I sent Lora inspiration photos for the style I wanted with the flowers and she nailed it, it was exactly what I wanted and more.
My guests raved about the cake, it was so tasty and the frosting is among the best I've ever had. Lora's cakes are also extremely reasonably priced, especially if you select a Simply Sweet one. I highly recommend Gateau and am so happy I had Lora create my wedding cake. Now I'm counting down until my one year anniversary so I can eat the top of the cake!

I enjoyed the cake so much. At the tasting, we had tried three different flavors of a "fall" kind of theme - carrot cake, pumpkin spice and peach cobbler. Despite my now-husband's protests that he did not like peaches, we unanimously decided that was the best by far (the others were great too though) and that we would have that. We were not disappointed - it was amazing and we got lots of compliments. We also have the top left, and we decided not to wait till next year to have it - we might just end up ordering another for the anniversary. The cake was decorated nicely too, and was very in-theme. Even the little leaves on it were edible, and quite tasty.

We were so happy with Lora in every way for our wedding cupcakes. She was wonderful at advising us and made wonderful suggestions for our taste palette, numbers, etc. We ended up ordering 3 different flavors of mini cupcakes which was wonderful because people got to try all of them. The Pumpkin Spice was the biggest hit though obviously peanut butter chocolate was incredibly popular as well. Lora was helpful, responsive, and came through on quality.

I fell in love with Gateau from my first experience with their lovely cake shop. My whole experience was very professional and accamadating. We decided to go with the peach cobbler and a cake sheet of pumpkin for our fall wedding, multiple guest linded up for seconds. My husband is big in to hunting so we did a hunting themed groomsmens cake and it was perfect! It had a bow and arrow, deer antlers on top with a wedding ring, and of course camo. Not only did the cake look awesome it tasted so good. We had done a tasting with Lora and we loved getting to know her as she helped us figure out what we wanted.

If you want to have a gorgeous cake that your guests will rave and rave about at your wedding, you must book with Lora at Gateau!! Lori at Gateau was fantastic to work with. We wanted a small grooms cake with different sports logos, a small cutting cake for the reception, and assorted fruit desserts for the reception. She made the whole thing so easy. we went out for the tasting to choose our cake flavors (apple caramel spice for the grooms cake and wedding bliss in raspberry for the wedding) and we talked through our options for the individual desserts. We finally landed on doing individual 3 berry hand pies, apple crumbles, and peach cobbler. They were all delicious and looked great. I would absolutely recommend them to anyone.

Lora is absolutely amazing! She is pleasant to work with, responsive and professional. Her cakes look beautiful, but even more importantly they taste delicious. Guests at my wedding were saying that was the best cake they have ever eaten. I would HIGHLY recommend Gateau Distinctive Cakes! I will be having her make my anniversary cake in a year :)

I loved the experience of creating a wedding cake with Lora from Gateau. Having had a disastrous first interaction with another cake vendor who was unresponsive and disorganized, it was such a relief to find a professional, quality baker in our area who could design the type of stylish cake we wanted. After communicating with Lora by email a couple times, sharing pictures of the cakes we had in mind and getting pricing estimates, we set up a meeting with her where she went over everything in detail. We performed the cake tasting, discussed styling options, and made final decisions in that one visit. I was so ecstatic that we gave her a cash deposit on the spot. She made everything so easy. On the day of the wedding, the cake was one of the highlights -- styled in the blue and yellow colors of our wedding theme. In addition to the two flavors that we chose being absolutely delicious, the fact that Lora created the cake entirely from a photo I'd shown of a cake I found on Pinterest was amazing. The cake was stunning and we couldn't have been more happy.

I am so glad we found Lora and Gateau for our wedding! After months of back and forth with our wedding caterer to try to get the design we wanted, to then be told that the cost was going to triple in price, this bride was beyond stressed and frustrated with less than 2 months before the wedding. I frantically emailed 10 other bakeries to see if anyone was still available! Not only was Lora extremely responsive but everything was just so easy with her!! She is very reasonable with her pricing too. And most importantly, her cakes are DELICIOUS as well as beautiful! I kid you not, my husband continued eating the leftover cake for a month after the wedding, it was so good! We cannot wait to request an order for another specialty cake from Gateau! Thank you!!

Gateau Distinctive Cakes was the best choice for our wedding! The cake tasted absolutely fantastic and it looked beautiful as well! From the very beginning at the tasting, I knew that this was the right choice for our wedding. I'm not a big fan of cake. I almost didn't have one but then I went to a cake tasting and each one was better than the last. My guests are still talking about the cake, there was none left! I still dream about that cake and cannot wait for another event so I can order another one. Remember - I don't like cake or so I thought until I had Lora's.

We got married November 7th, 2015. Our guests absolutely LOVED our cake! people are still telling us how much they loved it! Going into our wedding our head count was 138 so we ordered cake for a little over 140 people. The final head count on the day of our wedding was 125 and the cake was GONE! The only thing that was left was the top tier because our wedding coordinator saved it for us! We got two flavors, neapolitan and chocolate tuxedo pumpkin. Our wedding coordinator said she saw a lot of people going back for seconds and thirds they liked it so much! Lora is wonderful to work with! She can create anything you desire! She helped us design a cake that went with our romantic themed wedding. From the cake tasting to exchanging emails she was absolutely amazing! We cannot say enough wonderful things about her!

I can't say enough good things about Gateau! My husband and most of his family don't eat sweets but they loved the cake! So many guests also commented on it and loved it. We went with one of her standard designs and she put on some flowers that our florist provided and it was just as pretty as something custom we could have come up with! It was seriously delicious, and she worked with us to provide a little extra support in the cake for our heavy cake topper as well.
We also got several dozen of her mini cupcakes and were able to make some of them gluten free (which tasted exactly the same as the others!) Lora's prices were very reasonable too. I have nothing negative to say about Gateau, hire her and you won't regret it!

My family was introduced to Gateau during a food tasting event at my wedding venue. My family could not stop talking about their cake for the entire month between the venue tasting and the tasting I set up with Gateau. We also tried a couple of other places in the area, but nothing compared. The cake on my wedding day was amazing(!) and everyone loved it! Lora also did a fantastic job of decorating the cake after it got to the venue with the succulents we provided her. I would most definitely recommend Gateau to anyone who needs a cake!

At our tasting we tried 2 other cake flavors, all of which were SO DELICIOUS but Wedding Bliss was the crem de la crem!!! We look forward to having our top tier of our wedding cake on our 1 year anniversary and thoroughly enjoying it! Lora is a true professional and her cakes are exquisite! She created the perfect wedding cake for our special day. She was prepared with ideas when we arrived for our delicious tasting based upon what I had told her about us. She created a personalized seal on our cake with our names & wedding date in the shape of the UVA logo, where we met & went to college. Lora's cakes are DELICIOUS! They are so fresh and real - it's so obvious that she only uses real ingredients and takes great care in making sure every cake is perfect. All our wedding guests commented on how delicious the cake was. It photographed beautifully with a very subtle buttercream design and matched our wedding style perfectly. She applied fresh flowers from our florist in a perfect design to highlight the stunning cake as well as the florals. We were beyond satisfied to have chosen Gateau. We look forward to ordering more cakes from her in the future!

My wedding coordinator recommended Lora and I am so glad she did. I was having a hard time finding a baker within our budget and with little clue on how I would want to look like. When we met for our tasting Lora not only suggested designs but she also worked with our budget and within 30 minutes we had a beautiful design and a flavor picked up. She made sure our cake fit within our rustic chick theme and incorporated our flowers as a design to give it that extra personal touch. Not only was the design amazing but everyone complemented on how amazing the cake was and how fresh it tasted. I was so lucky I found her and I am looking forward to keep working with her for birthday, anniversaries you name it. She is the real DEAL!!!!!

Literally the MOST delicious and beautiful cake ever created!! Lora created my dream cake for my wedding. I showed her a picture of what I had in mind and what she created was even more beautiful!! I still have people coming up to me telling me that it was the best cake that they have ever tasted. The cake is super moist and the icing is perfectly sweet. My favorite cake is red velvet and I was nervous at first that she did not provide that flavor option. She does provide a velvet vanilla which was AMAZING!!! Has the taste of red velvet without the coloration which is good for your health and even better for your teeth for all of the photos! You will not regret selecting Gateau for your wedding cake! We can't wait until our anniversary to have more!!

About 5 years ago, Lora held a grand opening at her beautiful bakery. As a wedding planner, I had recently met her and wanted to support her business. Since there was cake involved, I was able to drag along my now-husband. Cake is great for bribery. Well the event was lovely, but what stood out to Jason and I most was this amazing chocolate cake with a cheese cake in the middle. We talked that very day about how this cake needed to be at our wedding.
So fast forward several years and a great professional relationship with Gateau and a personal friendship with Lora, the owner... I was finally getting married. And come hell or high water, we were getting that marvelous chocolate cake with the cheesecake in the middle! And let me explain that it's not a layer of cheesecake filling. NO! It is a cheesecake in the middle! And it is pure happiness!
In addition, Lora took two very clear designs from two cake styles that I really liked and melded them into one cohesive design. It was beautiful and perfect. Now instead of dreaming about my wedding, I dream about the next time I get to eat my chocolate cake with the cheesecake in the middle. Thank you Lora!

Lora was outstanding to work with and her cakes were perfect. We had ordered a very high end grooms cake and it was not match in style or flavor to the one we ordered from Gateau Distinctive Cakes. We were blown away with the taste, design, professionalism, and charm of Lora and her cake services. Amazing. We will definitely come back to her for all occasions and birthday cakes. We cannot stress enough how rich, moist, and flavorful her cakes were and then the designs will amaze you. Lora was easy to work with and loved helping us create a very complex and unusual theme. We've know Lora personally and prpfessionally for a few years, and had the pleasure of enjoying her scrumptious cakes for birthdays and weddings, so it was a no-brainer asking her to create our wedding cake. We told her our "theme", choose our flavors, then gave her free-reign on design. We saw our cake shortly before our wedding began, and breath-takingly perfect doesn't even begin to describe it. It was perfect in every way - taste, fit us and our theme, and every one loved it!! If you ever need (or just want) a cake, look no further!

We were thrilled by our wedding cake, provided by Gateau, at our recent wedding at Meadowlark Botanical Gardens. I chose Gateau because of their good reviews and the variety of cake flavor options available. We chose carrot cake, orange passion, and pumpkin spice - all were delicious and we received numerous compliments from our guests. Lora also provided us with macarons and hand pies for our dessert bar. Lora was always quick to respond to our questions and requests. The cake was beautiful and looked exactly as I had hoped!

I don't even know where to being about Lora Gookin and her unbelievable creations! My mother had found Lora and used her for my sisters baby shower cake. Needless to say it was a hit and everyone kept asking who made it, where it was from, and repeating it was the best cake they have ever had!! With my bridal shower and wedding shortly approaching after, I knew who I wanted making the desserts! Lora made the most amazing Aloha cake and cookies for my bridal shower; again, everyone kept saying how amazing and delicious they were! As for my wedding and grooms cake...there are truly no words. It far exceeded my expectations and was absolutely magical! My jaw dropped the moment I saw our wedding cake, it was beyond the most beautiful cake I have ever seen, not to mention it tasted even better than it looked!! I can't wait to have more events in the future and use Lora's creations!! My family and I are loyal Gateau customers!!

Lora Gookin is amazing! My wedding cake was gorgeous, but I am especially proud of the groom's cake that she made for my husband. Our only regret is that we didn't have the opportunity to marvel at the wonderful, painstakingly detailed board games cake that she made. People ate the chocolate cake because it was so delicious! Lora was prompt and responsive and worked with me to develop this gorgeous concept. I am so grateful that I received a recommendation to contact her and that she was available to help make our day perfect! Thank you!!??

We were incredibly pleased with the cake that Gateau made for us, and we highly recommend them. Lora was extremely responsive, organized, and professional. We scheduled a meeting with her, and she was almost immediately available. We did have to circle the block once to make sure we were in the right place (her kitchen is the basement of her home), but the tasting could not have been a more professional experience. Lora has a full commercial kitchen and cake studio, and happily showed us in for a tasting. Each of the cakes she prepared was excellent. Not “wedding cake” excellent, but really genuinely good. We picked a lemon cake with raspberry filling. Before the event, Lora promptly followed up to confirm the details (unlike many vendors, we never had to affirmatively reach out to her, she was always the one to follow up with us). Lora took extensive notes about the details of our cake during our tasting, so it was easy to confirm the details before our event. The cake was delivered on time, and Lora added some flowers to it on the day (provided by our florist). The cake looked amazing and tasted great. We highly recommend Gateau.

I cannot say enough amazing things about Lora and Gâteau! Every cake we tasted was delicious, we could not settle on one flavor so we had to go with two. Lora had the creative idea to design the cake after my dress, it was unbelievable how perfect it came out! At the wedding people came up to me and told me they had never seen anything like that before. Everyone I have spoken to from the wedding told me they had multiple pieces of cake because it was the best they had tasted! Since the wedding I have had people call me to ask if I have any leftover. I will absolutely be ordering all of our event cakes from Gâteau in the future.

Our wedding cake was EVERYTHING we wanted! The watercolor / stippling effect for the flowers, the mascot she added, the taste! perfection! We had people get third slices! thank you so much for going so far above expectations! Everything about this vendor was amazing, even the cake tasting was fantastic. She is a nice, professional, woman who is quick to respond to emails and truly understands what you want. Can't wait to order another cake from her!
