Michael was an absolute rockstar to work with. Not only is he INCREDIBLY talented, but just an amazing person. He does pretty much anything to get that perfect shot, and is a magician with lighting. He is the best of the best! Super flexible, but also is sure to do what he knows is best to get the most beautiful picture. WE LOVE MICHAEL! -

Best Photographer!
We cannot say enough great things about Michael. My now-husband first met him almost 10 years ago when Michael was his brother’s wedding photographer in Key West. He made such a lasting impression on the family that my mother-in-law suggested we try to book him for our wedding. I am so glad she did!
From the very first consultation call all the way through the reception, working with him was an easy and fun experience. He made the entire process feel effortless and enjoyable.
Beyond his incredible talent, Michael is genuinely kind, compassionate, and an all-around great guy. His passion for his work truly shows in everything he does - including diving in the sand to get the perfect fireworks shot during our welcome dinner. His attention to detail made a huge difference throughout our wedding weekend. We felt completely comfortable and confident having him capture such important moments. I believe choosing a photographer for your wedding is one of the most important steps of your wedding journey. The photos are how you're going to relive the best day of your life.
I found Michael on Instagram after going through TONS of photographers. As soon as I found his page, I knew I'd found the right guy. There's not a single photo in his portfolio that I don't love. I don't know how he does it, but he captured every single emotion of the day from me as the bride, to my husband (!!), to all our guests. I only have the preview photos (which he had to us by the NEXT MORNING - after taking like 10K photos the day before), but they are absolutely stunning. His editing style is EXACTLY what I was looking for. He doesn't zhuzh your photos up with the same boring filters. His photos feel real and rich.
My husband and I believe Michael was one of the best decisions we made about our wedding. All of our guests have already complimented on our much they love our 30-40 preview photos. I cannot wait for the rest of them to come in!
While also being incredibly talented, Michael is also very passionate about his work and the people he's shooting. We did an engagement shoot with him before the wedding and had a blast! He's a super fun guy who is really resourceful. He knows so much about the areas he works so feel free to ask him for recommendations!

As a native of Florida I knew I wanted my wedding in a cooler weather and more nature-filled location. The mountains of North Carolina have always been a special place for me, and when I decided our wedding would be there I was a bit overwhelmed finding an out-of-town photographer. I scoured the internet, interviewed 3 sources. Michael Freas was the most highly rated, a very detailed website showing his talents, and after having a phone interview with him my now husband and I knew he was the guy for the job!
Michael is knowledgeable of the North Carolina area, of course photography and overall a great guy to interact with. I believe we had 3-4 phone call sessions, 1 meeting in person to look at wedding ceremony and reception locations and then the actual day of the wedding. Our wedding day was perfect due in part to Michael's creative vision for photos all while giving us the space to interact with our guests, and dance the night away together as husband and wife. I would highly recommend Michael as your wedding photographer! -

Once I found the Instagram of Michael Freas Photography in my early stages of wedding planning, I knew I had to inquire quickly....because I knew due to his quality of work, his schedule would book fast! He was my first vendor I booked early in my planning process, but with no regret! Michael brought the upbeat, creativity to our wedding weekend in Key Largo. He looked for all of the right angles for the shots and made the shots happen! I felt confident in Michael (and his quiet but hilarious assistant, Julio) during every part of our day. He took control when needed and blended into the day seamlessly. He even sent me sneak peak photos the very next day! I will cherish these moments he captured forever. If you're looking for a fun, versatile, and adventurous photographer, Michael is your guy! -

Perfect elopement photos in the mountains!
Michael did a fantastic job for our elopement! He went above and beyond to make everything perfect. We came from out of state to elope and get some beautiful pictures out in the Appalachian mountains. Before the elopement he hiked the trails to recon the best spots and send us video and did video chats with us to make sure everything was perfect. When we arrived he had a pop up tent and bags to help carry the suit and dress and change out on the trail. He also drove us there and back. We really didn’t have to worry about anything, Michael made sure everything was perfect. We go beautiful digital copies and he sells wonderful print books. We will definitely do a follow up photo shoot with him in the future. We will always remember him and his hard work in capturing our special day. -

My wife and I would definitely recommend hiring Michael Freas as your wedding photographer! While we could have gone with a cheaper photographer, we knew that we wanted great quality photos of our wedding. Before booking, we asked for him to show us some previous photos and they were significantly better than ALL of the other photographers we contacted. Michael Freas took outstanding photos at our wedding and was 100% worth every penny. He did an amazing job at capturing all of our special moments and perfectly coordinated all of our guests and family for the best shots.
Michael Freas is down to earth and easy going. He’s dedicated and passionate about what he does, which is clearly reflected in his photos. A great photographer that really wants to get to know you on a personal level, so that he understands what type of photos you want. Michael really went above and beyond to make sure our photos came out absolutely spectacular, even to the point of yelling to a boat captain to turn his sail boat for an amazing photo (see photo below). If we need a photographer for any future events, we will definitely call him. -

We had a great experience with Michael! Not only are the photos amazing, he is knowledgeable and passionate about what he does. My partner and I are more than a little awkward, but he made us feel comfortable and worked great with our 11 month old and dog. He led us to some awesome spots and was extremely patient and flexible with us. We had a mix up with our dates and Michael barely batted an eye to accommodate us and get us the wedding shots of our dreams. -

Hire the best!
Once I saw some of the stunning images online, I knew I had to hire Michael for my Key West wedding...we booked him before we even booked the venue. Mike is someone you kinda wanna hang out all day with...he just has this easy going way about him that makes you relax- key for my husband who HATES pictures. I wanted him to be able to relax and have fun during the process and the results def show that. We got so many amazing pictures that really captured the day. Don't hesitate, just hire him if you truly care about having gorgeous pictures! -

Amazing experience! Highly recommend Mike Freas
Mike Freas is absolutely phenomenal! He was the photographer at our wedding on 11/6/2021 and we are so happy he was the one to document our day!
Mike is very professional, easy to get in touch with, and timely. He gets to know you very well throughout the planning process so he can help document / portray your wedding story. We got so comfortable with him, we were able to truly relax and just enjoy the moment during our wedding day without being nervous about our pictures being taken.
His pictures are outstanding! So many of our guests are telling us these are the best wedding photos they’ve seen. He has such an eye for catching those special moments. We relive our wedding day whenever we look at the pictures he took for us! From it being just me and my husband standing outside at our venue with the most gorgeous sunset in the background, to catching everyone busting a move on the dance floor, he captures the story of the night so well. He was able to document those moments beautifully so we can look at them for forever. That day goes so fast, it’s a whirlwind, Mike being there to document so we can relive those moments is so special. So so so happy Mike was our photographer!
Hands down, I would recommend Mike Freas.

Perfect intimate elopement ceremony!
Michael was very responsive from day one. He was able to book and then upgrade our session all within a short amount of time, which we really appreciated. Michael even scouted the area we were going to shoot our photos in the days prior to our session, so was very prepared. There was a high chance of rain and when we were supposed to shoot, but Michael reassured us it would all work out, and it did! The rain stopped just before our session time, just like he forecasted. Our photos also came out gorgeous, and he made the experience really fun. -

Engagement Shoot gone Perfect
When contacting Michael, I was looking for a photographer to shoot my engagement in Key West. He picked up the phone and called me the next day and we talked through the entire plan. It was in that moment that I knew I picked a great photographer. Man was I right. We had some small changes of plans and he went right with the flow, got incredible pictures and was an all around awesome photographer to work with. We plan to book him for our wedding because this experience was that great! -

Key West Wedding
We had our wedding on 2/29/20, in Key West. We're not from the area, so we had to plan everything remotely - and Michael made it super easy to do. He is a very genuine and direct person, which made it easier to navigate the whole process. He would text, email, call, even video chat, to get to know us and what we wanted. We do believe getting to know him in this manner helped him better understand us as a couple, and translated to better photos on our big day. He takes fantastic candid/action shots that really captured the moment!
We ultimately did two sessions with Michael - an engagement shoot, and the day of wedding. Both sets turned out amazing, and would certainly recommend! -

Michael was great to work with - he was very responsive to my questions and creative with my tiny venue. It was very rainy (like a hurricane was in the area rainy) the day of my ceremony and Michael just rolled with everything, even giving me and my bridal party a ride to the venue since it was too wet to go in the golf cart. I know the photos he captured (just on the little sneak we've had) are going to be something we cherish and admire forever. I would recommend Michael to any bride or groom that wants exceptional photos to remember their special day forever. -

Crazy fun, crazy good
Michael is an artist. I could stop there but I will add a bit more detail for those of you making the tough decision of selecting a photographer. My story is useful, I think, as you're shopping vendors, as I got to see another side of folks once we had to start rescheduling and eventually cancelling our larger-scale event due to COVID. I actually started with a different Key West photographer who, after my deposit was paid, stopped responding to emails in a timely manner and all but ghosted me once I needed to reschedule/cancel. My event organizer (Jackie at First Flight - amazing!) recommended I touch base with Michael. Best thing I did. Michael was willing to take us on fairly last minute, and was just the best. He was flexible and supportive and really took the time to not only get to know us, but also helped me find an alternate venue and even hooked me up with a friend to work out a flower arrangement. After all that, he went on to take some of the most beautiful pictures I've ever seen. He even played along with my silly idea of taking some rain boot pictures since we narrowly missed getting rained out on the day of our ceremony! He made it fun and memorable after really feeling like everything was against us. Highly recommend if you are looking for photos that will not only stand the test of time but also stand out amongst the crowd. -

If you are looking for a wedding photographer look no further- Michael is your guy! We could not have better things to say about Michael, from the planning process to the wee hours of wedding night. He worked his butt off in this Florida heat and his pictures did not disappoint! I am so grateful Michael pushed me to keep taking pictures when I was over it because a South Florida September wedding is no joke in the heat! Our guests absolutely loved and raved about how great and excited he was the whole night. We will 100% be using Michael in the future for family photos! -

This review is loooong overdue! What is there to say about Michael except that he is…
ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! THE BEST, MOST STUNNING PHOTOGRAPHER, EVER!
The moment my new husband and I became engaged, I knew that in planning any wedding, the photographer was going to be one of the most important decisions we would make for our wedding. Planning a dream wedding without the fairytale photos is absolutely pointless. Moreover, I knew that I didn’t want the regurgitated typical staged poses that have been the norm for the last century. I wanted someone to capture the moments, the emotions, the art. Michael is not only an amazing photographer, but his work tells the story in the most unobtrusive and artistic way.
I stalked Michael’s work having found him on Instagram while looking for a photographer that knew my venue and took the best photos, by the advice of one of my best friends, and bridesmaid, who is also an amazing photographer. She said I needed someone that knew the ins and outs of the venue, the lighting, etc… She was right, but even knowing how important this all was, I was intimidated by the cost. Michael instantly scoffed at my resistance and worked with me to make it happen within my budget. This was only the start.
Who would have known, at that time, that COVID-19, was going to be the act of god, that I could never have planned for? Needless to say, three weeks before our wedding we were postponed. Michael not only worked with me to change the date without penalizing me, but also called a couple vendors, along with my amazing planner, to get everyone on board. Michael and I continued to communicate through the entire postponement, becoming friends impassioned by the many politics surrounding the whole pandemic.
On the day of, Michael showed up true to form, full of energy. He is like that friend you haven’t seen in years, but you pick right up where you left off like you never missed a day. My husband, normally awkward in photos, instantly felt comfortable with Michael… He was a true guys guy, and my husband actually had fun throughout the entire process!
If you are debating at all… stop now, you have found your photographer!
Michael, I cannot thank you enough for all you did for us! We may catch up w you for an anniversary shoot in North Carolina! -

Best Photographer Experience Ever!
My husband and I recently eloped in Key West. Being from out of town, we were nervous about what vendors and people to work with and who to trust. Michael immediately quieted the concern over which photographer to use. He was so helpful from the get go and took time to get to know us starting day 1. On the day of our event, he made the experience fun, lighthearted, and seamless by going above and beyond to make us feel like the time we had to take pictures was all about having fun, enjoying the day, and sharing some laughter. When we first began looking for a photographer for our elopement we didn't quite know what we wanted, but after looking at Michael's website we knew he was the person we wanted to work with. I hate super posed photos and wanted our portraits to really be "us," not cookie-cutter or look like stock photos. After speaking with him we definitely knew we made the right choice. Since we were coming in from out of town Michael offered to meet up with us the day before our wedding and scout the perfect locations for our ceremony and photos in the Key West Garden Club. He was funny and very down to earth, making us feel very comfortable. The day of our wedding he timed our final photos perfect and caught the incredible Key West sunset I had hoped and dreamed would be the backdrop of our portraits. To say we are happy with our photos is an understatement. We absolutely love them! -

We absolutely LOVE Michael Freas! He was referred to us by a friend and it was honestly one of the best matches in this entire wedding process. He is so organized, and his authentic self which makes the process of getting to know each other fun and easy. He truly cares about his work, his attention to detail, and knowing you as a couple - so be prepared to have real conversations. Go into the experience with ideas around what you want and Michael will make sure it all happens. We met several times leading up to the wedding via skype which was a great way to stay connected. On the day of, he was everywhere! He captured the MOST AMAZING first look pictures and puts such quality in his work. We haven't seen everything yet, but what we have seen we are obsessed with. At the wedding, everywhere I turned around he was there capturing the moment, so we were able to just be us and enjoy that night and he captured everything we were experiencing. Where do I even begin with Mike and his work? Mike shot my wedding in Sorrento, Italy. He was incredibly professional, informative, and helpful throughout the whole process. My husband and I are quite awkward in front of a camera, but with Mike's humor and guidance, our pictures came out amazing! Because our wedding was a destination wedding, Mike took the time to video chat with us, and we looked on Google Street View at all the local spots. He also arrived several days early to scope out some good spots near the venue to take pictures. I would recommend him to anyone who wants their wedding to be fun, relaxed, and beautifully captured! We cannot thank Mike enough for all the time, care, and work he put into capturing our perfect day. -

My husband and I truly cannot say enough how happy we are that we chose Michael Freas Photography for our wedding. From the day we hired him it was easy, efficient, and smooth sailing. Michael really cares about each of his clients and is extremely talented. On the day of the wedding Michael ran the show which is exactly what we needed. He took control of the day and made everything run smoothly and made sure we got all the photos we wanted but still stayed on time and it was honestly the most helpful quality. The day of can get really chaotic but Michael and his team made everything run smoothly which eased our nerves. Then we got our photos back (in less than a month) and we were blown away. He did both our engagement shoot & our wedding day and I’m STILL swooning over the pictures after months have gone by. For our engagement shoot he took us on his boat to a private island to capture the most magical photos; and for our wedding day he also drove us around Key West to some amazing secret spots!! At the end of our wedding we did a crazy picture of the wedding party shooting champagne everywhere and mike didn’t hesitate to get the best angles of it (even if that meant getting his equipment wet and sticky!!). Overall the has an excellent talent for creative pieces and he is as honest as they get. He is willing to travel out of key west so I guarantee you won’t be disappointed!!!

From the first phone call, to receiving our photos, we were extremely pleased. Michael spent time with me on the phone sharing helpful advice on so many aspects of our wedding day, beyond photography, and helped us in making many choices for our big day. Every one of his suggestions was a hit. My husband and I were a little nervous about feeling “natural” in our photos, as photo shoots are out of our wheelhouse, but Michael made us feel incredibly comfortable and had us laughing and smiling all the way through. Our photos were sent to us faster than we could’ve hoped for, and we couldn’t be happier. We have received so many compliments on the beauty and vibrancy of our photos. It's been two months since our wedding and when I see family and friends and we talk about the wedding they all bring up Mike and how highly they thought of him as a photographer and as a person. He was able to capture so many moments and memories instead of just standard, posed photographs. One of my favorite things about Mike was that he suggested that my now husband and I write each other letters to read immediately after the ceremony. We were able to sneak away and have a few private minutes together and the photographs from this mean so much to us because it was such a special moment right after we were married. He thought of the small things, treated us with respect, was amazing with our sassy flower girl and gave us the most beautiful, creative, sentimental photographs. I can't recommend Mike and Freas Photography enough!

He truly captured how happy we both were that day and did a great job in including our dog in the photographs which was important to us. He was very easy to work with and was fast with sending the edited photos from out wedding. I highly recommend him for a photographer!

Ashley Sent on 05/15/2018I cannot keep count of how many times someone has told me that our photos are the best wedding photos they've ever seen. Just yesterday I was looking at the photos in a public place, and a complete stranger said, "Those are the best wedding photos I've ever seen. Seriously, I feel like I have to say that to everyone, but I really mean it this time."
My husband and I had a private ceremony in Key West with no family or friends, so we were nervous about having a photographer be the only person with us on our special day. Mike was the best! There were no awkward moments. It was like hanging out with an old friend who happens to be an amazing photographer.
Mike went above and beyond to help secure the ceremony location, find an officiant, and find great locations for photos. He took our ideas and made them better than we imagined.
One of the things that I love the most is that he doesn't edit the photos to make you look prettier or thinner. He uses light and angles to capture you at your best. You look like the best version of yourself, not like you were photographed with a filter. #NoFilterNeeded
The price was more than fair considering the quality of the photos. The only problem I have is trying to decide which photos to hang in our house! They are all so good!
If you are thinking about booking Freas Photography for your wedding, engagement photos, or any other event-- do yourself a favor and do it now. If he's not available on your date, you should change the date! He's that good. -

He does an excellent job of finding out what the vision is for the wedding ahead of time and builds the day from there. On the day of my wedding he was creative, energetic and listening to ideas while proposing his own to make sure he captured all the moments I wanted. He was open to what myself and my husband were asking for and knew exactly what direction to take during the entire day. Mike was completely professional, fun and produced amazing photographs that I will be able to enjoy for years to come from our very special day. He is an amazing photographer, and his work illustrates just that. He gets to know you as a couple and is able to easily incorporate your personalities into your engagement session and especially on your wedding day. He captured all the beautiful moments that made our day so special and now Jake and I and our family and friends will get to reminisce with the photos for the rest of our lives. Victoria Sent on 11/13/2016My fiance hired Mike back in August to come along on a boat ride with us, posing as a travel photographer, for a surprise engagement shoot. Not only did Mike do an excellent job at playing along with the surprise, he captured the most unbelievable pictures of the event. From the moment we got on the boat to right when I said "Yes", Mike was hiding behind us capturing every second. Afterwards, we did an entire engagement shoot on the island, followed by some dolphin watching where Mike got some awesome shots for us! Throughout the entire day Mike was so professional, polite, and fun! You can tell that he is truly a professional at what he does and has such a passion for photography, which shows in every single one of his pictures. We were just letting him do what he thought was a good idea, and we couldn't be happier with the way our wedding photos turned out. Mike has great vision (not cheesy) and kindly puts you into those perfect moments that he wants to capture- and we couldn't be more impressed (and I hope we weren't too hard to wrangle). We knew he was perfect from our engagement shoot last year when he took candid shots of my Fiance's Bronco, that blew our minds and we knew he was "the ONE!" Thank you!
