Wonderful Experience with Fluffy Thoughts
We got our wedding cake from Fluffy Thoughts and it was perfect! We received exactly what we wanted, a 3 tiered confetti cake with plan, smooth, buttercream frosting, and red velvet and chocolate sheet cakes. All of the flavors were delicious. They delivered the cake on time and I had my florist put live flowers on the tiered cake while she was decorating. Fluffy Thoughts' prices were also comparable if not slightly cheaper than the other bakeries in the area. While deciding on a bakery and planning the wedding they were always very responsive by phone and email. We received a tasting box of cakes which made it easy to choose flavors. Everything about working with Fluffy Thoughts was professional and just what you want when getting a cake for your wedding! -

Fluffy thoughts is amazing. We did a cake tasting with them where we got to pick different flavors and after tasting them all, we knew we had to use them for our wedding cake. They have such a great variety of flavors, you will for sure find one you love. We sent them an inspiration picture of what we wanted our cake to look like and they executed it perfectly. They also offer delivery to your event so you do not have to worry about that. We loved our wedding cake!! -

My husband and I chose Fluffy Thoughts for the guest wedding cake, and let me tell you, the guests all LOVED it. We were originally going to go with Costco, but after discovering that Costco's cake ordering process is absolutely archaic, we started looking around and saw a ton of glowing reviews for Fluffy Thoughts.
We were less than a month from our wedding and just crossed our fingers that Fluffy Thoughts would be able to accommodate a simple sheet cake. After a couple of back and forth emails and an invoice, we decided on a raspberry beret chocolate cake which included delivery to the venue on our wedding day.
The cake was delivered on time, in one piece, and was definitely a crowd favorite. We took home a few extra pieces to savor over the following days, and they were still incredible. I'd highly suggest them for all your cake needs! -

Fluffy Thoughts Cakes in McLean, VA is an outstanding bakery. They worked with us on the design for both the wedding cake and groom's cake. Both cakes were executed beautifully, and cake flavors are amazing, My personal favorite is Candy Bar Crunch. I highly recommend this bakery! -

Picking a baker for wedding cake and treats was the vendor choice I was most looking forward to in the wedding planning process. As the baker in my group of friends, and being a member of the Greek community, standards for desserts at our wedding were high. I am SO glad we chose to go with Lara and the team at Fluffy Thoughts for our dessert! She was so easily able to pick up on my vision for the cake, and was helpful when calculating the proper size! What started with having additional cupcakes ended up turning into a dessert bar, which was the best decision! I only wish I had tripled the order for the dessert bar, as it was gone in MINUTES! Also, everyone told me that most people don’t eat cake but our guests did not come to play! Everyone was raving about each flavor, so many wanted to try all three! Luckily for us, our planner had set some aside for us so we could enjoy it back at the hotel that evening! Trust that if you choose Fluffy Thoughts, your guests will be satisfied! I only wish we weren’t living across the country, but we will be back to order an anniversary tier! :)

Amazing carrot cake for our wedding!
Fluffy Thoughts went above and beyond to make a delicious, beautiful, playful cake for our wedding! They were so creative with the design and were extremely easy to work with. We did a 4 tier cake with stenciling, a sugar flower cascade, and a fun topper (handmade from sugar- a bride and groom and baby bear). The sugar flowers were absolutely exquisite! They looked like real flowers and they matched our actual florals almost exactly. The flavor was carrot cake with buttercream frosting. People went nuts over it (pun intended)! Some of the best wedding cake I’ve ever had. We just had to let people know there were nuts for those with allergies. We thought it was delicious and enjoyed all the leftover cake too! We highly recommend them! -

Lovely cake for my daughter’s wedding. Postponed for a year and a half because of the pandemic. It was so long after our delicious tasting that we all forgot what was selected as the flavors. The wedding finally occurred on November 6 and the cake was a lovely touch. Quite simple in design but just what my daughter wanted. We complemented the cake with fresh flowers and a cute topper. Easy to deal with the staff at Fluffy Thoughts. Very responsive. They were recommended by our caterer and it was a great choice. You will love your cake from Fluffy Thoughts! -

A real stunner
The first thing we said when we saw our cake on our wedding day was "Wow!". Even though we had actively discussed the design and seen drawings made by Lara, we were not prepared for how beautiful it would be in-person.
Fluffy Thoughts was phenomenal to work with from day 1, when setting up a consultation. They worked with us when we had to downsize our wedding from a 200 person wedding to a small 5 person elopement. Amazingly, they were able to capture the essence of the design for our cake and transform it into a petite beauty.
We got the strawberry lemonade flavor and it was delightfully light (especially after a heavy dinner). I am a fan of fondant and the fresh-made fondant was light and delicious. -

We had a great time at our cake tasting and working with Laura to design exactly what we wanted. They were very flexible and understanding when we had to postpone our May 2020 wedding to a May 2021 wedding & downsized our reception. The cake was BEAUTIFUL, delicious, and exactly what we wanted.
And, they provide a one-year anniversary cake! So, something sweet to look forward to.

Fluffy Thoughts makes the most delicious wedding cakes in the DMV - hands down. I tasted almost ten other wedding cake vendors in the area, and none of them had the perfect balance of sweetness and flavor. Their special flavors are incredible - LOVE Dat Cookie Dough! It was also super cool to say that our cake baker was also trusted by Ruth Bader Ginsberg for her birthday cakes year after year! :) We are looking forward to our first year anniversary cake next May. -

Beautiful cake!
We got our wedding cake from Fluffy Thoughts. They have so many amazing flavors and I loved that we could do multiple flavors in our cake (we landed on lemon tart and candy bar crunch). Our guests loved the cake flavors. It was a pleasure working with Lara. We made our cake smaller due to COVID (and smaller guest list) and the policy was for store credit instead of refund. We don't mind too much since it will be another opportunity to taste more goodies at Fluffy Thoughts. -

Best cake ever
My husband and I ate our entire wedding cake over the weekend. We know you are supposed to save the top tier for your first anniversary, but we literally couldn’t wait to eat it again. We went pretty simple with vanilla cake and vanilla buttercream frosting, but it was the tastiest cake we’ve ever had in our lives. Lara was incredibly professional, timely, and attentive throughout the entire process. She particularly exceeded my expectations with the presentation, and it fit perfectly into the schemes of our wedding. We are trying to find an excuse for a special occasion so we can get another cake from Fluffy Thoughts! -

Cake of my dreams
My husband and I came to Fluffy Thoughts hoping for something delicious, and man did they deliver! Our caterer provided dessert to guests (already included in the price of each plate) and we were on a budget so we couldn't afford to give everyone dessert and cake. They were able to work with us so that we got the cake of our dreams. After choosing the flavor - which was super hard since they are all really tasty - we showed them a picture of a cake design we liked online. They worked with us to recreate it when other bakers would not. Since we couldn't feed cake to all the 100+ wedding guests, they were able to recreate most of our cake out of foam and covered it in fondant. The parts that were cake were beyond delicious. We were even able to bring home the top tier! The final product looked exactly as it did in the online picture. The whole team at Fluffy Thoughts was great to work with - communicative, professional, and really collaborative. -

Most Delicious Wedding Cake
Fluffy Thoughts will also be my number one recommended bakery for all things cake. The flavors are so fun and they do them all so well. At the tasting, my husband and I were very torn about which flavors to pick so we ended up picking three!
Lara and her assistant were wonderful and very responsive. Lara had a lot of great and fun ideas for the cake design. We wanted to keep it simple but incorporate a lot of color. I never had a concern working with them. -

Look no further for a baker. A friend's wedding we attended used them. Super easy to schedule a tasting.
Lara and the staff at Fluffy Thoughts were amazing to work with! Not to mention their cake (all flavors) are to die for. We ended up going with a three tier cake- carrot cake for the top two, chocolate for the bottom, and then a sheet cake of the lemon. All were AMAZING and received many compliments! Was also nice that they could accommodate my indecisiveness as it was so hard to choose just one flavor.
We also wanted to add different desserts to the table as well, so ended up going with some chocolate & sugar cookies, as well as some macaroons (strawberry and peanut butter). Everything was delicious, and we absolutely cannot wait to receive our free top tier cake on our 1 year anniversary, which is also a plus!

Delicious!
Fluffy Thoughts baked a delicious carrot cake for our wedding. They did sheet cakes for some of the guests (that looked identical once sliced) which helped keep the cost down. Most importantly, they built us an adorable custom cake topper which we absolutely adored. We would definitely recommend doing a tasting with them - all their flavors were delicious! -

Lara at Fluffy Thoughts is an incredibly talented artist. Her designs are truly a work of art. We were beyond thrilled with our wedding cake from Fluffy Thoughts.
When meeting with Lara, we showed her a few photos of what we imagined, and talked through a design. On the spot, she drew a couple of samples. She immediately took what I pictured and put it on paper. At the tasting, we got huge portions of cake to sample. My parents and sister came with us, and we all got more than enough – we could barely even finish the samples! They definitely did not skimp on the tasting.
The actual cake came out looking exactly how she drew it at our meeting and how I imagined! I also asked her to include a fancy, gold “R” initial on the cake, last minute, with no other direction. It came out absolutely gorgeous! We got so many compliments on not only how beautiful the cake was, but on the taste as well. I have been to so many weddings where the cake was just okay, and got left uneaten. Our guests ate it up! We chose a white cake with layers of raspberry and chocolate ganache. It was to die for!
The other amazing thing about Fluffy Thoughts, is that they will give you a small top tier of your wedding cake, at no cost, on your one year anniversary, so you don’t have to worry about saving the top tier from the wedding. Your guests will thank you for this, as there is more to go around. If you live in the NOVA/D.C./MD area, don’t bother looking elsewhere for a wedding cake, because you will be disappointed. Fluffy Thoughts is the best! I can’t wait for another event, so we can order another cake from them! My family is excited to have a new bakery to go to for all of our dessert needs.

It is hard to know where to begin! We used fluffy thoughts cakes for our wedding cake and grooms cake, and they were both the two most beautiful and delicious cakes of all time (and I don’t even think I am biased!)
When we scheduled a tasting, Lara helped us design our wedding cake. We showed her some things we liked, and she got out a piece of paper and drew a cake based on the tidbits we had put together from a variety of different cakes. She turned it around, and immediately we just said “yes, that’s it!” She listened to what we were looking for, and made it unique to us, even as a traditional cake. The real thing was even more beautiful, with unbelievable sugar flowers that had guests stunned that they were even humanly possible to make of sugar.
Now to the grooms cake. I had this crazy idea- I wanted my now husband to be surfing, but also playing golf. I wanted to have our four pets incorporated. In my head, I didn’t even think this cake was possible, but hoped they could pull from my crazy and make something that would wow him. I can’t even tell you how much they blew our minds with this cake. They created a masterpiece of Chris riding a wave on a surfboard, while swinging a golf club, with a cat on the back of the surfboard with him, two dogs in the water, and another cat on the beach. It was INCREDIBLE. They used pictures of each pet to make their little figurines really look like them. It is hard to say whether the wedding cake or grooms cake was a bigger hit at our wedding – we were blown away by both. Every idea we had was 10X better with their expertise. Fluffy thoughts was amazing to work with, their cakes are delicious, they have unique flavors, and unmatched skill. I can’t recommend them highly enough.

We used Fluffy Thoughts for our wedding and could not be an happier! Our wedding planners recommended Fluffy Thoughts and from our first tasting/design appointment I was blown away! The cake flavors were all so delicious and unique - we actually had a hard time deciding which we loved the most. The team worked very hard to complete sketches that matched our idea for our wedding cake design. Thankfully they were also very flexible on my last minute addition of a groom's cake for my husband! We used Fluffy Thoughts for our wedding cake, and right from the beginning, we were thrilled with the experience! We had a personalized consultation where the baker sat down with us to discuss our vision for the wedding, we looked at pictures of previous wedding cakes they had done, and then she started sketching our dream cake right in front of us! Then when it came time to test, my God, the cake was DELICIOUS! Moist and flavorful down to the last bite! We ended up choosing a different combination than what was originally put in front of us, and they were completely okay with that! On the day of, the cake was beautiful! Exactly as we imagined it! We did have sheet cakes to supplement our cake because of the size of our wedding and some guests did say that the sheet cake tasted a little different than the cake on display during the reception, but nothing negative, just different! We LOVED our piece and were thrilled with the outcome! AND we get a small version on our one year anniversary! :) Loved Fluffy Thoughts! -

From the moment we walked in for our tasting to the day of my daughters and son-In-laws wedding I knew we had chosen the right place to make their wedding cake! The tasting was amazing and we loved every bite but the Italian Wedding cream frosting is to die for. My husband could not make the tasting and Lara was kind enough to send us home with a tasting for him! When I called back Sunday to be able to send a tasting to Andrews parents in NC - again they took care of us! Lara (the owner) Designed our cake with a hand sketch right in front of us and the beginning of our dream wedding cake started! We chose a four tier cake and three flavors - vanilla vanilla, cookie dough and cookies and cream! They were unbelievable and the cake was so moist! Everyone loved it and we enjoyed leftovers for days after. When I saw the cake at Shadow Creek I was in awe and amazed! It was stunning. Best cake ever!
Thank you so much! This was the best cake we and our guests had ever seen - DELICIOUS AND GORGEOUS! We wanted something a little different and did Fluffy thoughts deliver! People were circling it for hours before the cake cutting wondering if it was real and then devoured every slice! The staff was also amazing and Laura was super kind and responsive to us! She prepared some gluten free cupcakes for our guests with a gluten allergy and an amazing bday cake for a guest as well. We could not be happier!! -

Delicious, perfect-vision cakes
As the mother of the bride living out of the area, I researched many bakeries and then interviewed two. After meeting Lara and tasting the cakes from her shop, we decided to hire Fluffy Thoughts. What we sampled was delicious and Lara came highly recommended by area vendors. As a mother, I worried about everything going wrong with the wedding and I can honestly say that Fluffy Thoughts came through beautifully. The cakes arrived in a timely manner looking exactly like our vision. They were accurately placed and exquisitely decorated. The best part though, was the taste. I bake and have been to MANY weddings but have never tasted cakes as good as the bridal cake and groom’s cake (we followed the southern tradition and ordered a groom’s cake to contrast with the bride’s cake.) For the groom’s cake, Fluffy Thoughts went above and beyond to procure the fruit we wanted to decorate with.
To sum it up, except for my mother’s (family) famous German chocolate cake, these cakes were the most beautiful and delicious cakes I’ve ever tasted.

We set up a couple different appointments with bakeries early on in our vendor selection process, not sure exactly what we wanted cake-wise. The second we saw pumpkin cake on Fluffy Thoughts' list of flavors, we were pretty much sold. It tasted as good as we hoped, and Lara drew up a gorgeous but subtle DC-themed cake for us during our appointment. We booked with them immediately.
Lucky for us, the real deal was everything we hoped for--our guests raved about the pumpkin cake and cinnamon cream cheese filling. And the best part is that we get a mini cake in the same flavor on our 1-year anniversary.
Wedding cakes are by no means inexpensive, but we thought it was worth every penny! -

Our cake was amazing! We were sold on Fluffly Thoughts after our tasting with Lara. We wanted a classic tiered cake with two unique flavors and ended up choosing the blackberry passion fruit cake and the cake version of a Samoa Girl Scout cookie. Lara/her team were also very responsive via email in answering all the questions we had the months leading up to the wedding. Our guests raved about both flavors. Amazing Cakes!
Fluffy Thoughts made my wedding cake and a surprise grooms cake for my husband. They were both AMAZING. The cake was delicious and some guests said it was the best wedding cake they ever tasted. Chelsea at Fluffy Thoughts is extremely talented and made the attached sushi cake for my husband. It was so perfect he thought it was real sushi at first. Thank you Fluffy Thoughts for making my wedding cakes unforgettable!

We really enjoyed the quality of our wedding cake from Fluffy Thoughts. Lara was very kind when we met with her for a tasting and was more than happy to work with us on designing our perfect wedding cake for our October wedding. We also placed a separate order for sweet treats (macarons, etc.) for our wedding reception and they were a big hit with our wedding guests. Our wedding cake was not only beautiful, but it was also delicious. -

We used Lara and team for our wedding and from the tasting to wedding day delivery it was a (delicious) joy to work with them. The design itself was beautiful and we had multiple guests come up and say they normally do not eat wedding cake, but ate a whole slice of ours. So glad we made the decision to go with this team and we are so looking forward to the complimentary anniversary cake. -

The cupcakes were amazing!
For our wedding we got a small cake and cupcakes for guests, let me just say people are still talking about how delicious the cupcakes were! Fluffy Thoughts Cakes was great to work with and the process was so easy and seamless. Because of diet changes I had to change the cake and some of the cupcakes to gluten free and Lara was very responsive and accommodating. They were so good, that you couldn’t even tell the difference! I would highly recommend using Fluffy Thoughts Cake for your wedding! -

Loren Sent on 09/22/2018I have been dreaming about my cake ever since the wedding. It looked like something out of a fairy tale or a dream wedding, and tasted even better. I was able to take a few slices back to my hotel and that was my first breakfast as a married woman. I can't wait for our one year anniversary so that I can get another taste. In terms of professionalism, Lara and the team at Fluffy Thoughts are nothing short of spectacular. Timely, attention to detail, clear contract, perfect delivery. I wish I could order a cake from Fluffy Thoughts EVERY day. I would choose them again in a second for my wedding and will use them in the future for other special occasions.

Adam Sent on 08/21/2018The cakes were delicious and exactly what we were looking for. The guests ate leftovers for the days following the wedding and the cakes kept getting better. We also ordered a bunch of mini-desserts including, pies, poptarts, cookies, lemon bars, etc. They were all delicious and the perfect bite. Lara and the team were great to work with from tasting to the big day. They work with you on the vision and budget you have and make it a reality.

Stephanie Sent on 07/08/2018Fluffy Thoughts did the cake (actually, a lovely vegan cupcake tower!) for our recent wedding and I would strongly recommend them! The flavors were amazing and they provided a lovely tower structure with topper cake and six different flavor vegan cupcakes. The frostings in particular were so rich and natural in flavor - none of that artificial overly-sweet business. We had them deliver and set up the tower on-site for a reasonable fee and it was totally worth it. I only wish I still had more of the cupcakes to eat myself :)

Demetria Sent on 01/04/2018We were so absolutely thrilled with Fluffy Thoughts. Lara was really nice and responsive, and gave us a very reasonable price point for our dessert bar and cake. We decided to do a small 6-inch cake (pumpkin sponge with cinnamon buttercream, and beautiful fondant autumn leaves for decoration) along with our dessert bar (mini pumpkin pies, Nutella mini pop tarts, chocolate cake pops, vanilla cake pops, and raspberry Linzer cookies). Absolutely everything we tried was to die for. The execution we received the day of was amazing - and every one of our guests demolished the desserts - there was nothing left! We can't wait for our one year anniversary so we can go back and get a pumpkin cake in celebration :)

I absolutely LOVED it - it was so delicious (chocolate cake with with chocolate buttercream, with 2 layers of dulce de leche and 1 layer of dark chocolate ganache). They made handmade sugar flowers on the cake - they looked so real and were beautiful! It was one of my favorite details of the wedding. I had a very particular vision in mind for the sugar flowers and Fluffy Thoughts went above and beyond - it looked better than I hoped it would! I'm definitely using Fluffy Thoughts again in the future.

The cake tasting experience was also very different than others. They had different frosting and cakes set out so you could make your own cake combination. This gave us the opportunity to pick exactly what we were looking for. The cakes were moist and perfectly baked. The team was professional, responsive, friendly, and the cakes were amazing. You can't go wrong with this company!
