The week we became engaged we knew we wanted to have a destination wedding in Savannah, and to do that we knew we needed the best wedding planner we could find. We needed a planner who knew Savannah inside and out, who could be our partner on the ground, that we could trust to pursue our vision, since we lived in NYC. We spent three - four weeks interviewing planners, who were pretty much all the same, very energetic and enthusiastic, but none of them had a package that fit our needs, and when we asked them to develop a more personalized package, we got nowhere.
Bonnie was the perfect planner for us. She listened to what we knew we wanted, and what we were sure we needed help with. She took care of scheduling all of our planning meetings, and made sure she was available for the ones we knew we needed her help with, and was there to answer any questions we had along the way. If there was anything we were worried about, Bonnie would always reply with "Don't worry, I'll take care of that", we would eventually just refer these items as Bonnie Problems or BP's, and our minds would instantly be put at ease. She was able to schedule all of our pre-wedding planning meetings and tasks into two physical planning trips to help save money on planning travel expenses. (even though we would have loved to go more often, since we loved Savannah and Bonnie even more so.)
As we went through the process of planning our wedding, we found that Bonnie had built a great reputation of respect in the Savannah wedding planning community. Every Vendor we met with would say "We work with Bonnie all the time, and we LOVE her". It felt good to know the network of people we were putting together to work on our wedding respected and trusted our Planner. As we got closer to the date and felt like we needed more time to communicate, Bonnie always made herself available to answer our questions and put our minds at ease.
One of the biggest struggles, with planning a wedding in Savannah, was the the culture difference. As New Yorkers, we were used to getting answer's right away, and Savannah is typically slower paced. Without Bonnie, we would have likely grown frustrated with many of our vendors, and moved on. Bonnie was able to always get us answers, or assure us she was working on getting the answers. Anytime we were growing worried with the response time, she would be honest about it being in or out of character for that typical vendor. In the end, every vendor we chose, that bonnie recommended, came through, and was the perfect choice.
Anyone who would ask us, what was the biggest decision, or what was the best decision we made along the way, would always get the same answer. "Bonnie"! We affectionately refer to her as our favorite person in Savannah. If we trace back any single decision we made with our wedding, or any part that people say they loved about our wedding, it always traced back to hiring Bonnie. Whether it was a vendor she recommended, or her embracing a new or different way we wanted to do something (like how to set up our seating for the ceremony), she was always there to support our choices and recommend people that would support our vision and make our wedding day what we wanted it to be.
Hire Bonnie, you won't regret it! -

Bonnie at First City Events and her whole team were absolutely amazing. We decided to book an out of town wedding after deciding to cancel our original plans in our hometown. (It’s a long irrelevant story). We reached out to First City Events 6 months before our planned wedding date. Needless to say, we were freaking out about the tight timeline and the amount of planning that needed to take place. Bonnie worked tirelessly to make the planning as smooth as possible for us. She communicated with us well and reassured us every step of the way that the day would fall into place. She gave us great ideas and played off our ideas to the smallest details. To say the day was amazing is an understatement. It was magical. We could not have envisioned a better wedding day and it was all thanks to Bonnie and her whole team. Throughout the day the team was checking on us and making sure everyone was having a great time and kept the timeline running smoothly.
We asked Jeff the DJ to play a mix of Nigerian/Afro-beats and classic American pop and he did not disappoint! He blended the songs so seamlessly that our guests couldn’t help but be on the dance floor the entire night.
We could not recommend this team enough. I didn’t realize how important it is to hire a wedding planning until going through this process of planning a wedding myself. Having the team take care of the logistics actually allowed us to enjoy our wedding day and enjoy the planning process.

Jeff emceed the night so smoothly and played the best playlist, we did not get off the dance floor all night! I loved working with this team and would 100% recommend for any upcoming brides! -

I would recommend First City Events for Wedding Planning to any bride, especially in the Savannah area. I was living in Chicago while my wedding was in Savannah and Bonnie at FCE was great to work with remotely and was flexible to meet up with my family members in Savannah if they were able to attend something (like tastings) in my place. We also worked with FCE through the pandemic - moving our wedding twice so they practically planned our wedding 3x total and Bonnie was always so calm and flexible through all the date changes. Bonnie helped us select vendors and managed all the communication with them. Bonnie also managed our budget which was greatly appreciated. FCE has manage our budget, Bonnie helped manage our budget, as well, which was greatly appreciated. One thing that's I different tiers of planning packages depending on how much the bridge and groom want to do themselves - this worked great for us as there were some things (like invites / programs) that we could handle.
In summary, hiring First City Events made wedding planning enjoyable and was a great value! -

While we unfortunately did not work with Jeff and Bonnie in the capacity we would have liked as we made the difficult decision to cancel our wedding d/t COVID-19, I cannot say enough about them. They were incredibly professional, responsive and understanding. One thing that we found out ( sometimes the hard way) is that not all wedding vendors are created equally - Jeff and Bonnie were wonderful to work with and we were able to work out a fair resolution. If you are looking to book a DJ during these uncertain times, look no further! -

We hired Jeff at First City Events to be the DJ for our daughter's wedding. He did a fantastic job of keeping the party moving and grooving from the beginning of the reception until the send-off at the end. His music selection, based on a short list we provided was impeccable and once the dancing started, it never stopped. Before people get upset about dancing, please know that every precaution was taken and no covid infections occurred at the wedding! Jeff kept the wedding reception items moving exactly on schedule and I never felt any worry that things were not happening. The only problem was that no-one wanted the evening to end, it was such a blast.
From the first time I spoke with Jeff I felt comfortable with him and he completely delivered. I would highly recommend him. Judging from the quality work he delivered as a DJ, I can only imagine the rest of their services are top-notch. I planed our wedding and didn't use a wedding planner, but I am sure that Bonnie and Jeff are wonderful event planners as well.
Do yourself a favor, save yourself some time, a book directly with Jeff at First City Events - you will not regret it!

Bonnie and her team were absolutely perfect! We live out of state and Bonnie was our eyes and ears in Savannah talking with our vendors and setting up meetings for when we visited Savannah leading up to the wedding. She worked with us for almost two years and we never felt overwhelmed or like we didn’t know what was going on. Having a wedding in 2020 was no easy feat and we know there was no way we would’ve been able to pull it off without an awesome planner. Bonnie went above and beyond to make sure our day was perfect. We had to change our wedding date twice and weren’t sure if we were actually going to be able to have our dream wedding this year, but Bonnie assured us that things were going to work out and kept in constant communication with our vendors to keep everyone informed of the constant changes. We had to change our seating chart almost daily leading up to the wedding due to guest changing their pandemic travel plans and we could’ve easily been overwhelmed, but Bonnie helped us out every step of the way. Her and her team also made sure we were as hands off as could be on wedding day. The schedule she put together kept the night going without a hiccup. We had a dream wedding from beginning to end because of Bonnie and her team. Not once did we know if anything went wrong, she checked in on us constantly and one of the planners even spoke Spanish which out a ton! One of the bridesmaids dresses ripped and one of her team members sewed the dress almost instantaneously! -

Easy going and in-tune with my needs
Bonnie and her team were so helpful for my day of coordination. She was responsive to phone calls and emails prior to our event and then was able to make sure that everything was seamless on the day of! Her team was constantly making sure I had what I needed and responded right away to my requests. When I wasn't sure exactly what I needed, she knew what to do! -

First City Events made our wedding day the most smooth, relaxing, & fun day that we had always dreamed of. Bonnie was an absolute joy to work with; balancing her expertise with having a GREAT personality. She handled our wedding party, who can be rather rambunctious, without a hitch. Our parents absolutely loved her & are still doting on her (& her team) to this day.
We also used First City Event's DJ services and were overly pleased with the entire ceremony & reception music! If I could, I would attach videos of how packed the dance floor was the whole evening.
Let's run it back once more, FCE! I would recommend you all 100 times over. -

I hired Bonnie from First City Events to do my day-of wedding coordination. Every other vendor I hired either knew Bonnie by name or by reputation, and that was the first indicator that I had made an amazing choice in choosing her to help me navigate my wedding day. I didn't know what to expect from a day-of coordinator, but the whole month before my wedding Bonnie was there putting everything together, tying up loose ends. Of all the people and vendors I worked with for my wedding, Bonnie was the absolute best. The ceremony and reception was flawless thanks to her and her team from First City Events. She is also so much more than a coordinator, she is a whole emotional support system! Whenever I was feeling the slight bit frustrated or overwhelmed, Bonnie was there to get me through it! A few days before the wedding my husband and I had a long conversation about what we wanted for the wedding. We know that we gave him the difficult task of blending English and Spanish music seamlessly during the reception. He met the challenge. In addition we gave him an eclectic mix of song request made by our guest which he also seamlessly incorporated into the cocktail hour and dinner. He eagerly accepted song request on the spot from our guest as well. It was a pleasure to work with Jeff and Bonnie and We would highly recommend their services at First City Events. -

Amber Sent on 01/23/2013I never really pictured myself using a wedding planner (i'm very type A and usually get everything done without any help) but hiring Bonnie and her excellent staff at First City Events (at the recommendation of a friend) was THE BEST DECISION I made in planning for planning my wedding! They were always available to work around my difficult schedule, made planning from out of town bearable and the best thing was that I told her my budget, how i wanted it to look and EVERY vendor she suggested (and scheduled to meet for me) was PERFECT. The wedding came out exactly as we had hoped and our family and friends are STILL talking about how great it was! We also hired their DJ services and were, of course, very pleased! Jeff was fun, got our crowd involved and fed off of their energy, really noticed what got people on the dance floor and kept the mood fun! -

I did not have to worry about a thing! From setting up to cleaning up, to making sure we ate some of our delicious food to getting us tucked safely in the limo, she completely took care of everything! Thanks Bonnie!!
Also big shoutout to DJ IXtwelve who kept everyone dancing all night long! You completely nailed our group and each song made everyone excited. My new husband is very hard to please when it comes to music...and he was thrilled!
