Bernadette and her team planned and executed our wedding at the Southernmost Resort in Key West on 4/11/26. I CANNOT RECOMMENDED BERNADETTE AND HER TEAM ENOUGH. From the first phone call with Bernadette, I knew we were in good hands. I live in MA, so it was awesome to have the knowledge and boots on the ground by Bernadette and her team. Bernadette helped us plan everything from DJ, photo booth, flowers and decor, seating chart, the whole nine yards. She gave us recommendations for places to have a welcome event and rehearsal dinner too!! We were picky on not having a tent out on the beach and Bernadette was able to plan an awesome plan for all the tables to remain in the shade without the tent. Our wedding was stunning and fit our vibe to a T. The wedding day coordination was fantastic as well. If you are looking for a planner that is detail oriented and extremely knowledgeable and a good eye for flowers/ decor, go with Bernadette and her team!! -

I worked with Bernadette at Family Affair for just under a year planning my daughter's wedding. Being an event planner myself, it was hard to "give control" to someone else, but I'm so glad we chose her! From working with other vendors, to organizing, to seeing that everything was in place and as requested - she did it all. On the day of the wedding, we had one small issue with my daughter's bouquet, and Bernadette took care of it in 15 minutes. At the wedding and reception, her daughter and granddaughter were on site the entire time and took care of anything and everything needed flawlessly. I would highly recommend Family Affair for any event planning needs. -

We would highly recommend working with Bernadette and Family Affair! We planned our destination wedding in Key West from a long distance and needed more suggestions and support than most. From our first call, we had a ton of amazing suggestions to think about and it only took a few detailed conversations to get ourselves to a fully formed, personalized plan for us! Day of was incredibly smooth - we barely had to think about anything (yet still felt like we had the day to enjoy with our family and friends)! The decor looked fantastic and the team already had a great relationship with our venue (First Flight) so everything was so seamless. Bernadette's recommended vendors all delivered (flowers, officiant, photographer) and her team of assistants (particularly Jenna and Irisha) were incredible support throughout the day. Family Affair is fabulous!
When my daughter said she wanted to get married in Key West, I thought I could handle the planning. We are from Ohio but visit Key West quite often and are very familiar with the town, lodging, etc. When I received my first contract (from Ft. Zachary Taylor), I quickly realized I needed help. After talking to 2 other planners and my first conversation with Bernadette, I knew she would be a great fit for us. Not only did she recommend all of our vendors (which were all wonderful to work with - 5 stars all around), she also was essential in the flower/decor design. She was quick to respond to all correspondence. The entire day was as close to perfect as you could get and Bernadette and her staff were the biggest reason why! We couldn't have done it without her and her team! If you're even thinking about having a wedding in Key West, call Bernadette at Family Affair!! -

Our Perfect Wedding
We chose Bernadette & team to be our full service wedding planner through recommendation from a friend. We could not have been more satisfied with the end product. We told Bernadette our priority was a "fun" wedding and that we were willing to spend in certain areas but really aimed to save money where possible. We got exactly what we wanted - we are certainly biased but it was the most fun wedding we have ever attended and I believe many of our guests felt the same. There were some areas that my wife and I did not really care about (flowers, decor, etc.). We asked Bernadette to basically do the bare minimum where it would still look nice - and it looked gorgeous. There was still obviously quite a bit of work and planning on our end leading up to it - but Bernadette and Irisha did such a good job it allowed our day to be almost entirely stress-free, even with the heat index hitting 108 and our venue deciding to do construction the day of. We also appreciated all of Bernadette's connections to the other vendors. She was able to easily bring in and recommend anyone we needed. We would definitely recommend Family Affair Key West to any other couple looking to do their wedding in the Keys. -

Can't recommend Bernadette and her team at Family Affair enough. Not only did they take our ideas and execute them PERFECTLY, but they were also able to help us with the details we might've missed without them.
During the planning phase, Bernadette and the teams knowledge and connections throughout the Keys we're invaluable to us. We do not live in Florida so it is really hard to imagine pulling off the wedding we had without them.
The day of the wedding went so smoothly, and with them on our side we were able to enjoy our dream Key West wedding without having to worry about the little details. We would recommend Family Affair to anyone getting married in Key West, you will be in good hands if you go with them.

I don’t even know where to begin! The Family Affair team was honestly amazing! I was hesitant about a full service planner from the beginning only because we had quite a bit of the vendors already figured out on our own, but planning long distance I knew we needed it for so much more! Having Bernadette and Irisha to help all along with the timeline and details was so worth it, especially once hurricane Ian hit FL right before the weekend of our wedding and we had to postpone two months… I don’t know what I would have done without their patience and help in getting things rebooked and reconfirmed.
I definitely had a vision and might have been pretty specific on some of it but they were very receptive to what I wanted and took time to go through things with me; sometimes multiple times when I was being indecisive (sorry lol). In addition to the team leading up to our big day, Allison and Fernando were amazing for the day of. They showed up the evening before for our rehearsal and were so helpful in talking through how the day would go. Alison was a huge help in the morning getting things taken care of while we got ready, even down to having to secure a last minute change of plan for our cake cutting key lime pie… she arranged to have it picked up and taken to the venue without hesitation. They did a perfect job on the set up of both our beach ceremony and the design of the reception… from what I heard, Fernando spent extra time perfecting all the details too… they truly made our dream day come to life, it was better than I could have imagined! I definitely cried some happy tears when I walked in to see everything set up before guests arrived.
Thank you doesn’t even begin to explain how thankful I am for all that Family Affair did for our big day. I keep telling my husband I want to do it all over again; it was just amazing and it all happened way too quick!!!

Bernadette and the entire team at Family Affair is who YOU NEED to hire for your wedding in Key West! I came to Bernadette with a dream and a budget and she executed every detail flawlessly! I contacted her and had no idea where to begin, she calmed my nerve from day 1. We took a trip down to Key west and Bernadette drove us personally to a few different venue sites that were within our budget and told us her pros and cons about each location and from there we ultimately chose The Oldest House for our venue because I mean who wouldn't its absolutely stunning and once Family Affair does their thing, its even better than you could ever imagine! I was all over the place when it came to theme and details and Bernadette really focused on my wants and needs and every detail matched perfectly. They make the whole wedding planning process a breeze and you can incorporate as little or as much personal detail as you want and they will incorporate it flawlessly. They truly are the best and my entire weekend PERFECT because of them! Thank you guys so much, I will ALWAYS cherish these memories! -

I was hesitant to have a planner in the beginning because of the price for just "one day of services". However, I'm SO happy I did. Family Affair was 10000% worth every penny. Bernadette was easy to talk to and scheduled plenty of calls leading up to the wedding. A month before the wedding, she sent out emails to all the vendors with the timeline and any and all important information.
Being a destination wedding, I was concerned with decor, card box, and other little details. She helped me pick up decor ideas (I didn't want to pay a crazy amount for decor because our venue was so beautiful and rustic as it was). One of her planners, Irisha, helped me figure out what I wanted and we came up with pedestals with some lanterns on them instead of an arch. They provided a card box so I didn't have to worry about flying with one, and they even coordinated with someone to pick up my veil on the day we landed so I could get is steamed.
They came right to our bed and breakfast to do a little rehearsal with the family the day before the wedding, and on the actual day of the wedding, my planner for the day, Allison, came to the inn right on time and was AMAZING. She was with us the entire day and she was just phenomenal. She was there every step of the way and helped us with any and all little things and issues, no matter how minor. We could not have had the night we did it if it wasn't for her. Thank you Allison!
If you are considering hiring a planner to take out some of the stress of the day......absolutely do it. I don't know what I would have done if I hadn't decided to. I would have been a nervous wreck! But Family Affair makes it easy and so so stress free. Thank you again Bernadette, Irisha, and especially, Allison! -

Best Wedding Ever
Landon and I just came back from our wedding in Key West! Family Affair made our wedding beyond perfection! Their attention to detail, professionalism and helpfulnesss was amazing. On the actual wedding day, we didn’t have to worry about a thing-Yeo and Fernando took care of everything from delivering flowers, carrying my veil, carrying our drinks, kicking out (nicely) unwanted guests, plating our food, and just being kind!!!! We cannot say enough about good things about this wedding planner and would 100% recommend them to anyone getting married! You will not be disappointed! We are beyond happy! -

Absolutely perfect
I cannot recommend Family Affair enough!
We had a destination wedding, so a wedding planner was needed. This team was more than we could have ever asked for. Usually, the bride and groom are VERY stressed with wedding plan; however, having Family Affair, we had no stress whatsoever. We met once in person during the wedding planning process; otherwise, everything was done through email/calls. They were able to carry out every one of my visions for my dream wedding perfectly. They were VERY easy to get ahold of and could answer all of my questions in a very timely manner. They not only carried out the perfect wedding, but also helped to arrange transportation and hotels for all 75 of our guests. They also helped to plan/schedule our events leading up to the wedding (welcome party and rehearsal dinner with bar and catering). Being so far away it is hard to know about all of the different vendors; family affair arranged ALL of our vendors who were FABULOUS. We exchanged visions/pictures back and forth (for things such as cake, flowers, decor, etc) and family affair took it from there. From our photography, to food, to cake/dessert, to DJ, to decor and florals, every one was absolutely amazing. Our guests traveled from all over the country to come and everyone could not stop raving about entire wedding. Family Affair made our dreams come true with the most perfect destination wedding we could have ever asked for! Because of Family Affair, we were able to actually enjoy our wedding weekend and celebrate with everyone who traveled to be there with us. Would recommend to ALL couples seeking the most beautiful and stress free wedding. -

Worth Every Penny...
We planned our wedding through Family Affair as part of the full service package. We live outside of Philadelphia so it was important to feel comfortable and have a sense of trust with the planning company to be planning something from far away. We could tell on our first call with Bernadette that we had made the right choice with Family Affair. We went down to Key West one time to complete the venue and vendor planning. We had all the large details wrapped up within three days. Bernadette was helpful in trying to keep us on budget by making suggestions to save money. When we asked for her advice, she was always frank...always letting us know our options, the cost difference, and if something was not worth the money. She would check in with us during the process so we could make sure everything was on target for the big day.
Near the end of planning, we were in the throes of COVID. She let us know how it was going in Key West to help guide us on whether or not we would still have the wedding. On top of that, it was a very active storm season for Key West. Our Welcome Party venue was a Coast Guard ship that had taken damage during a storm a couple of weeks before the wedding. Bernadette worked miracles and found another venue for the Welcome Party - at the Fort Zachary Taylor fort. All the guests loved the venue.
On the wedding day, she and her staff made sure every detail was in order. We definitely recommend Family Affair for your wedding planning. It is well worth the money and peace of mind. -

I researched several event planners in Key West and I'm so glad I chose A Family Affair! Bernadette and her team have it down to a science and it made wedding day a breeze! They're knowledgeable and great to work with! If I could do it all again I wouldn't change a thing! Our venue was great, food was wonderful and they took care of EVERYTHING! Just give them your money!!!! Seriously though Bernadette and her staff were by far my biggest asset in planning a destination wedding! Planning a wedding in the middle of a pandemic obviously posed some problems with businesses closed or working at limited capacity, Bernadette was my life-line to Key West, (she knows everyone!) and was able to make thing happen I didn't think were gonna be possible. She was supportive, encouraging and just outright the kind of person you want by your side when planning one of the biggest days of your life! Not to mention the day of the wedding... Bernadette and her assistant Britney were absolutely amazing! They arrived out on Sunset Key in 100 degree weather and like gangbuster executed my vision to perfection! I had the most amazing wedding day full of Love, laughter and not even one bit of stress. Hands down some of the best money spent on the wedding were with Bernadette and her team! Family Affair is the perfect name for a company ran by Bernadette and her team. If you are seeking a family to spend your wedding planning year (or longer) with, look no further. From my first conversation with Bernadette in March 2019 to over a year later of planning later, she has become my Key West mom and has been there through every high and low of this wedding planning experience. I have done 90% of my wedding planning with Bernadette remote from San Francisco/Atlanta and she has given all the support a perfectionist gal could ask for and made me feel like I was sitting in her office in Key West through our quick + easy conversations over text, email, and phone. The remaining 10% was completed over fun in-person visits, complete with oceanfront fish tacos + cocktails while finalizing all the details and attending our final vendor visits and tasting together.
When selecting a wedding coordinator, I was looking for the following qualities:
1) A well-connected coordinator in the Key West ecosystem
2) An experienced wedding coordinator for the planning process
3) A helpful negotiator and advice giver
4) A strong personal connection, due to countless hours you spend together planning + remote
Below explains details + shares anecdotes on how Bernadette has blown our expectations away from day one.
1) First off, it's absolutely key to find a wedding planner local to Key West as opposed to bringing someone down to the island. From the biggest decisions like where to hold the wedding reception and rehearsal dinner, to mid-level decisions like where to recommend guests stay on the island, to seemingly small decisions like what rental house should my family stay at for getting ready photos to how long we need for photos in front of a certain landmark - she has been there to answer every question and support every decision. Through her local connections in Key West, she is able to offer discounts to her clients at various hotels on the island for their guests. This was especially important since we are having our wedding at Casa Marina and they do not offer a guest room block. She also took us around to rehearsal dinner venues on our first visit and helped us narrow down our choices and negotiate our contracts. Need help with your flowers, your venue, your DJ, your photo/video? She has their phone numbers. Need someone to stop by your vendor to check-on something or have an in-person conversation? She's right down the street. Although many Key West vendors could boast the same vicinity, she is married to an incredible wedding photographer (Senses at Play), sisters with an awesome videographer (Soundwave) and siblings-in-law with a stellar DJ (Soundwave). We ended up hiring the whole family for our wedding and we've been so impressed with their seamless operation and the family-touch of having a whole local family working our future wedding day! When we postponed our wedding, all she had to do was text her family chat and our whole vendor list was moved to the new date. This brings a new meaning to the 'family affair'. I'd also like to give a shoutout to John McCall, her husband, who did our engagement photos. The photos turned out absolutely stunning and we cannot wait for him to shoot our wedding day in 2021 (photos attached to this review).
2) In addition to her connections in Key West, she is also an expert at wedding planning. She has a tried + true wedding day timeline template that she personalizes to your wedding day details that has been a wonderful deliverable for organizing our big day. I am an extreme perfectionist + detail oriented person and this timeline met all my expectations for outlining the big day, down to who would be posing for photos at what time to perfectly crafting my first looks with my dad & future husband. She also has templates for tracking seating charts, organizing vendors, etc. that are especially helpful + unique to her company and our wedding planning process.
3) When it comes to the tricky side of wedding planning, she has been by my side for every important vendor meeting or remote email, especially since Key West is a destination and most planning is done remotely! When I visited Key West for two planning trips, she helped me organize every meeting around my tight weekend schedule and was present for every meetings to help with negotiations with my various vendors and venue. She helped cut cost on my floral estimates based around my preferences and even met with my florist ahead of me arriving for our scheduled appointment time, taking care of the potentially difficult in-person conversations before I even arrived. She has always helped me hold the line on my budget and has even recommended areas where we could cut cost when we were willing to pay - much appreciated to have extra $$ in our pocket while planning an expensive destination wedding.
4) I interviewed with multiple wedding planning companies in the Keys and none came close to the heartfelt, down-to-earth, no BS conversation and connection I had with Bernadette from day one. You set your expectations for what you envision your wedding to be and how much you are looking to spend and she fights for that vision and budget. When rumblings of COVID-19 began threatening my wedding date all the way through to our postponement to 2021, she was there to answer my countless texts, my phone calls, and helping guide us through the devastating, exhausting decision process around a postponement vs. cancellation.
We may have gone from a 50 day countdown to 325 days, but one of our silver linings meant working with Bernadette and her team for another year. Thank you Bernadette and Family Affair! -

I cannot imagine NOT having a wedding planner for our big day! We chose Family Affair for our day of planner on 2.22.2020 - this was a destination wedding for us so we picked solely based of reviews & research. Bernadette and crew took care of all the last minute details, collaborated with all the vendors to make sure everything was delivered and set up correctly! We had a couple sets of string bistro lights that were out, and it didn’t show until dusk - Family Affair got it fixed ASAP! FA also offered to create the custom seating chart with name tags for every table - it was done perfectly (the animals/fish were a fun touch!) That alone was extremely helpful. We had a rehearsal the day before to make sure we all knew our places and Bernadette made sure we went over the flow of our cocktail hour & reception on site. From day one with Family Affair to the day of our wedding, Bernadette and her entire team were absolutely wonderful. Bernadette was our go to person throughout the whole process, helping else plan our dream wedding. When the day finally arrived, Jessica was our person, handling anything and everything we needed, ensuring our day was perfect. Melissa was also incredibly helpful, having the toughest job of all: making sure the guys showed up where they needed to be on time! We are so grateful to the FA team and all of their time and dedication spent on us, making us feel like we were their only clients. Bernadette and her team at Family Affair are amazing! From the beginning, they made planning our wedding a breeze. My fiance' and I were living in Asia and my parent's live in Northern Michigan and we said from day one that Bernadette and her team were more than worth the cost (which is quite low for the quality you receive) Family Affair took care of everything, the welcome party and the wedding at Southernmost and we didn't have to think about anything but enjoying ourselves with family and friends. I highly recommend Bernadette and the whole team at Family Affair - photography, video, dj, etc. The best team! We were married in April 2019, which is a busy wedding month in Key West, and we never needed for anything, every detail and then some was taken care of. We had the pleasure of working with Mel & Kay while planning and preparing for our wedding day. They were wonderful - very professional. They took the time to listen to our wishes and helped us pull all our thoughts together keeping the process stress free along the way. On the wedding day, everything was perfect. They took such care of all our personal items, setting them up and returning them to our guest room at the end of the reception. Bernadette went above and beyond for my wedding. We had 166 guests travel to Key West which took a lot of planning and Bernadette was on top of everything each step of the way making my dream wedding come true. When we arrived in key west 3 days before the wedding my mother and I had time to relax and just have fun with friends and family as Bernadette and her staff completed the finishing touches. Working with Bernadette McCall made our wedding planning such fun. She is flexible, informative and responsive....most of all she made the entire process FUN! She took care of every detail. Unfortunately, we had issues with our venue, but Bernadette persevered and resolved everything. As the mother of the bride, I had a wonderful time at the wedding without any worries. In addition, we used A Family Affair's preferred vendors and everyone delivered. Because the vendors are used to working together, the day flowed so smoothly.
