I had my first ever dress shopping appointment here and Missy, the volunteer staff member, was so incredibly kind and supportive. She helped guide me through the search process and provided thoughtful, encouraging, honest feedback. When I found the dress I loved, she even helped me get an additional discount on it because of some minor discoloration on the lace! I'm so excited to wear it at my wedding. I cannot recommend Fairytale Brides highly enough. Their selection is incredible, and it's super helpful that they carry a wide range of styles so that you can learn what works best for you. The prices are also very fair and the profits go to charity, so you can feel good about your purchase.

What a wonderful experience! I wish I knew of them when I was dress shopping. I went to Fairytale with a friend to help her pick her dress. Missy was excellent. After letting us in and greeting us warmly, she asked what the criteria were: approximate sizing, budget, sensory issues, shape preferences, color preferences, and so forth. Then she grabbed a few things from the back (new arrivals) and showed us where to browse. With a selection of 5 or 6 dresses to get us started, she got my friend set up in the changing room and stayed close to help her with awkward zippers, pinning the dress to fit better, and so forth. We also greatly appreciated her creative ideas on how to incorporate our friend's partner's tartan into the accessories, how to work the bustle, other modifications, and so forth to help the dress best fit our friend's needs. She was attentive and helpful without being overbearing and without distracting from the process. So glad that it was our first (and ultimately last stop) because she also helped our friend, who was initially very nervous, feel comfortable. And then, because we had another appointment elsewhere after this one, we told her that one of the dresses was a top contender and was likely to be the one. She said she'd stick it back in the back where she'd find it and gave us her cell number to let her know what we thought after the second appointment. The other appointment wasn't bad but it wasn't nearly the same experience and ultimately the dress at Fairytale couldn't be matched. So we texted her and it turned out she was still there so we ran back and got the dress. My friend is thrilled and excited. Oh, Missy also gave us a list of recommended tailors to contact. If I could give more than 5 stars for this experience, I would.

Delightful Experience
Missy was a true gem who made the experience so enjoyable. It was my first stop, and I found three unique and lovely dresses. I ended up going back after experiencing other stores (second hand and traditional bridal boutiques) because I couldn’t stop thinking about Missy’s kindness or the dresses. I went with one of the three, and I feel like this dress is perfectly me for my wedding day!

I am so glad I found out about this store! The prices were amazing, so much so I was able to get two dresses. I was a bit worried at first as someone who wasn’t sure what my dress size is, but the volunteers were super helpful. I advise trying on various different sizes. Highly recommend checking them out!

I adore this store and everything they do! They are a non-profit with tons of discount dresses. I came here for my first-ever wedding dress appointment, and Claudia was incredibly helpful. She answered all of my questions and was very patient and helpful while I tried on nearly every dress they had! Even though I didn't end up finding my dress here, they had many beautiful styles and I highly recommend this as a first stop.

Quality Dresses, Amazing Prices!
Fairytale Brides is a hidden gem. I went to them first to find my dress. While I didn't find it on that trip, their boutique set the standard. The workers were kind, helpful, and responsive. There was no pressure to buy a dress, but they were really focused on helping me find the style and look that suited me best. Afterwards, I check out other shops but honestly Fairytale Brides had a better selection that most stores I went to. So I went back to look one more time and I found the perfect rehearsal dinner dress! I cannot wait to wear it. If you're looking for a wedding dress, rehearsal dinner dress, or accessories, Fairytale Brides has it all!

I had a great experience shopping for my dress at Fairytale Brides! We picked out dresses & had the opportunity to try them all on, narrow it down & re-try them on to pick the one. I ended up finding the perfect dress- literally the dress I was thinking in my head 🤗
The staff was not pushy which I appreciate, I have heard some terrible stories of dress shopping where they are super salesy, but here there was no pressure. I also love the concept of donated dresses at a discounted price which some proceeds go to charities.
Before scheduling the appointment I called to ask how much the dresses range from & they said $100-$5,000 but most are under $1,000.

At first I was dreading shopping for a wedding dress, went to many different bridal shops, but was not impressed with the selection ( for my budget) and scared by the prices. FairyTale Brides offered an amazing alternative and a great experience. Donna and the volunteers are very nice, accommodating and down to earth. I found a dress I love at a great price and I am happy know that some of the money I spent is going to charities. I found everything that I wanted and support here.

I Said Yes to the Dress at Fairytale Brides!
I had an amazing experience this past weekend at Fairytale Brides. After visiting several bridal shops in the DC area, I started to lose hope that I'd be able to find a dress within my very tight budget (and one that wasn't previously owned). Insert Fairytale Brides! I came to this shop on a whim and was able to make a last minute appointment without issue. I worked with Claudia and she was very accommodating from the start. She was very welcoming and did an awesome job of identifying dresses that matched the look I was going for. I didn't have much luck with the dresses I pulled from the rack but Claudia identified several options from the inventory they had in the back. And lucky for me, one of those dresses happened to be the one that I ended up going with! So happy to say that I officially said yes to the dress and none of it would've been possible without the help of Claudia and the lovely staff at Fairytale Brides!

The perfect place to find the perfect dress
I purchased a wedding dress online from a popular vendor on a whim - it was the first dress I tried on and I loved it! However, a small voice in my head had reservations that there could be other dresses that I would like more than the one I purchased. Because I had a 30-day return window to decide on keeping or returning the dress I had, I scrambled to make a few appointments at bridal boutiques near me - including one at Fairytale Brides. I had an amazing experience - after trying a few dresses on, Donna, the director, ended up handpicking a dress for me that just came in which I absolutely fell in love with. Better yet, it was a dress that originally retailed for over $5000 but was nearly 20% of the price. I personally loved the idea of giving a dress a second life and choosing a sustainable option for my wedding, and I'm so glad that I made an appointment for a nonprofit that gives back to their community (and future brides!). I would highly recommend Fairytale Brides!

Affordable dresses for a great cause
Fairytail Bride was very flexible with me (I accidentally marked my calendar for the wrong weekend) and were very helpful at my appointment. I ended up loving the first dress I tried on (which stylist Claudia picked out for me) and returned a few weeks later to purchase it after I couldn't stop thinking about it. I got a great deal on a gently used dress and love that my money is going towards local organizations instead of the wedding industry. I am recommending to all my engaged friends!

When I came to visit with my mom, I already visited one bridal shop and I thought I found the dress. i was mistaken. I found THE DRESS here. With so many more options that catered to my size and color variety. I was in love with my dress. I loved the mirrors and the open floor. Donna, Alex and Mia helped me find my dress over two appointments. I had previously left two bridal salons without finding anything, one in frustration and the other in tears. I was looking for a modest gown because I am a Christian, and I wanted sleeves because it was a winter wedding. With the styles in vogue today, I was searching for a needle in a haystack. They happened to have a vintage gown in exactly my size, in excellent condition, that was perfect for me. Donna and her team went the extra mile to help me accessorize and teach me about the various details of the dress. The charity component of the shop warms my heart. Hidden Gem for Bridal Gowns
I found this boutique after no luck at David's Bridal. The team there was great! I really didn't expect to find my dream dress there but I DID and I LOVE IT! Everyone I've showed the dress to so far (including the alterations place) have said I got a high quality dress and they were in shock when I told them I found it at a non-profit.

I had a wonderful experience with Fairytale Brides! After doing a circuit of traditional bridal shops I'd seen a lot of gorgeous dresses, but also experienced a lot of angst about the prices. Fairytale Brides had a lot of beautiful options at a much lower price point, and the volunteers who help with dress try-ons are extremely helpful and make the experience truly enjoyable. They were patient with me through 10 different dresses! I also found my dress, and it's so beautiful that I'm wearing it twice! (The only silver lining of COVID) If you're looking for a wedding dress, I *highly* recommend stopping in.

A great find!
My experience at Fairytale Brides was wonderful. I was able to find my wedding dress here.
Cons:
The store is smaller then other bridal dress stores I have been to. This means there was not as much variety.
Pros:
The store is smaller so it was less overwhelming then other stores. It was easier to look at everything.
The attendants were very helpful, picking out things and giving advice about how to accessorize and alter the dress. I picked the dress I did because I loved everything but the bust line and the attendant suggested how I could alter it to make it perfect for me.
The prices are great. I got a dress I can tailor anyway I want for $50 with in 45mins of the appointment starting.
It's a non-profit. I felt good about giving my money to a non-profit organization.
It is definitely worth giving a shot to see what they have available.

I was able to get the designer dress of my dreams, since High School, for 17% of the original cost. (I maybe cried a little when I first saw my dress online, and couldn't believe they still had it.). Last, but not least, I love that the contribute to non-profits in the area, not only do I get my dream dress, but I also get to do some good with that money. First and foremost, I called FBoaSB a few days before I went there to see if they'd have dresses in the style I was looking for, and the assistant on the phone with me could not have been more helpful. She even set aside a few dresses for me so they wouldn't disappear before my appointment. They only work with one bride at a time, so I and my family/bridal party were the complete focus of the staff there. They have gorgeous dresses at INSANELY reasonable prices, PLUS I knew that the proceeds from my purchase were going towards local nonprofits and charities. They were lovely and I could not recommend them more!

Surprising Find!
I have to admit I was extremely skeptical of finding my dress at Fairytale Brides as I have very specific tastes & was adamant about not having the traditional "white" (or any flavor resembling) dress. I had seen on their Instagram page an older post from December of a gray Vera Wang ball gown. It was still there when my Mom and I came in on 2/23. It was just meant to be for me to have the gown :) Not to mention the staff were all so sweet and helpful. Would 100% recommend!

Wonderful bridal experience
This is such an adorable little shop. Everyone was friendly and helpful, and I felt really welcome there! My first two dress outings had not been a great experience, and Fairytale Bridal on a Shoestring made me excited to try on dresses- it really depends on the people working at a dress shop. Also, you can't beat the prices, and had a decent variety for my size. :) Can't recommend them enough!

A lovely experience
I had a lovely experience with Fairytale Brides. I was dreading dress shopping but the ladies here were wonderful and made the experience pleasant for me and my mom. Lizette (and everybody else at the store) was attentive but also transparent about how certain styles looked on me - even though the dress looked good on me, they knew it wasn't *my* dress and would tell me so.
My mom and I were also the only ones at the store, so even though Lizette was the one helping me, the entire group of volunteers were very much involved in helping me find my dress.
Something to keep in mind is that all dresses have been donated - there are hardly, if ever, any of the same dresses in multiple sizes like a for-profit store would have. So if you like something and it's within your budget, it's in your best interest to get it before someone else takes it. If you have a specific dress you absolutely must get for your wedding and you are not willing to give other styles a try, then this place may not be the best place for you. If you would like to give Fairytale Brides a chance, then please go with an open mind. You might be surprised with what you may end up liking, as it did with me :)
One thing that really made a lasting impression was how the volunteers would strike up a conversation with my mom whenever I was changing out of dresses, affirming that my mom was just as much a part of the process as I was. The reason why this sticks with me the most is because my mom is a first-generation Korean and English is not her native language. Even with the language barrier, everybody was communicating and working hard to understand each other.
All of the volunteers I met at my appointment were kind, warm, and not once did I feel pushed to buy a specific dress. The seamstress also came out (twice!!!) to answer any questions we had about the dress since it is a tad too small and also a little too long. The store also has shoes and various accessories readily available to help the volunteers when making recommendations to paint a bigger picture of how you would look in the dress. Another form of service I really appreciated was that I really wanted to try on a specific dress (my dream dress) from a different store, but I didn't have the time to go try it on before my appointment. When one of the volunteers saw me looking at a picture, she offered to find something similar to try on so that I could at least get an idea before making my final decision. It definitely helped me with the decision-making process as I could tell that the one I thought was *it* wasn't as special as the one I was thinking of getting.
To end this review, Fairytale Brides made the dreaded dress-shopping experience into such a positive one. I would highly recommend this place to future brides who are open to trying on a variety of dresses.
TL;DR Volunteers at Fairytale Brides are attentive, transparent, understanding of and will stick to your budget. Even though I bought my dress already, a part of me wishes to go back to try on dresses again.

I found my dress!
This boutique is wonderful! While the selection is limited, due to the reliance on donations, they had a number of options in my plus size. The volunteers made me feel welcome and beautiful and were very responsive. I found my dress in under an hour, and I'm thrilled.

Wonderful experience
I was able to make an appointment over holidays, so that my mom, sister, sister-in-law, and niece could join me. It is a small shop, but there was enough room for them to be there. The staff was very helpful, although they happened to be short-staffed that day-- so it was good that my sister and mom were there to help me dress.
As a non-profit who accepts donations, they of course have a limited selection. But they still had so many beautiful dresses. I went in with one criteria - I didn't want a strapless dress. The staff encouraged me to try everything, anyway, since there are often ways of getting around the strapless. But, about 8 dresses in, I found a beautiful dress-- that I love and everyone loved on me-- that has strap/sleeves. It's perfect. And, it's nice to know that I supported a charity by purchasing my dress there.

Friendly, stress free, fun wedding dress experience!
I had an amazing time shopping at Fairytale Brides on a Shoestring Budget! The selection of dresses is great- I went once in May and once in December and found great options both times. The volunteers who run the store were very helpful in guiding me towards dresses I might like, giving me ideas to try without ever being pushy. I never once felt pressured to hurry up, try things on faster, or buy anything. The atmosphere is very relaxed, you can try on as many dresses as you like and take as long as you like. I would highly recommend this business to anyone looking for a wedding dress- my experience was wonderful and the organization benefits great causes!

Wonderful place!

Beautiful dresses for a good cause! What more could you want?!
I've been unable to find anything else like this store. You can find a dress anywhere, but this is one of the few places where you can buy a dress that also supports some fantastic causes. The staff of volunteers is fantastic and the dresses are unique. I'm so glad that I purchased my dress from Fairytale Brides!

Amazing experience

I said yes to the dress!
Fairytale Brides has an amazing collection of wedding dresses for those looking to purchase donated and discounted dresses. The dresses ranged in sizes and styles and were BEAUTIFUL. The staff worked diligently to help me choose a gorgeous dress and I could NOT believe the price. $80 !!! Yes, you read that correctly only $80 which was wayyyy under my budget. It was too good to pass up. Thank you Fairytale Brides for helping me find my fairytale dress.

Get a great dress, support great causes!
Buying my wedding dress at this shop made me so happy! Ethically it doesn't get any better than this--used dresses have a low carbon footprint and the money all goes to support scholarships and organisations that help women. I think the shoestring name is a little misleading because many of the dresses are fancy designer items in the thousand dollar range, though it seemed they also had cheaper ones. I found a genuine silk Vera Wang dress that was likely used as a store sample for $900 (originally priced at $4000) and the perfect Anne Barge belt for another $100 (I'm guessing the original price was something like $750 or more). It's a small woman-owned non-profit managed mainly by volunteers and everyone is super nice. It's probably the best money I spent in the whole wedding!

Amazing buys/staff!
My daughter and I stumbled into this store only to find a treasure trove of gorgeous dresses at a fraction of the price! We had been to numerous wedding stores and this one by far was the most special. Wonderful selection plus the staff is very welcoming and professional and help guide you through the process so effortlessly. In fact they picked out a dress that we would not have thought of trying on and it turned out to be the perfect dress! It turns out that the proceeds go to charity and the staff are all volunteers.. a total feel good - win, win situation. Thank you Fairytale Brides for making this such a special memory for my daughter and I! You are truly angels on earth helping charities while making brides dreams come true.. Cheers!!!

Everyone at the store was very friendly and helpful. I had three people helping me at once. The quality of the dresses was excellent. I found a Casablanca dress that would of been 1K retail value but was $600 Dolars at this store. The dress was simple and elegant with freshwater pearl details. Excellent experience overall!

Found my dress!
This place is absolutely worth your time. I set up an appointment on a whim and ended up finding my dress! The dresses are donated or lightly worn and I got a designer Vera Wang dress for a fraction of the price. And that the proceeds of my dress would go toward helping women felt amazing. This place is a gem and I'm so grateful to the women who run it!

I had the most amazing experience at Fairytale Brides on a Shoestring! The team was so kind, and helpful. I bought my wedding dress from here! I had been looking for a unique dress, and had tried on dozens of different dresses in lots of different shops. The folks at Fairytale Brides really listen to what you are looking for, and they had hundreds of dress options. I found a dress that I didn't even need to alter. The dresses are affordable, and I feel good about my purchase because 100% of the proceeds go to charities that empower women. I could not be happier with my purchase!

Staff was so warm and kind! Halfway through my fitting appointment, I was the only bride-to-be in the store and all of the ladies working there became a part of my appointment looking for matching accessories to every dress I tried on to get the complete look.

I had a wonderful experience and found the perfect dress quickly and with no pressures. The selection was great— I tried on about 6 dresses and the staff was friendly and warm and very very helpful. I love knowing charities are being helped, too. Perfect.

This was the first place I went to find my dress.They have a decent collection and it's a cute little store. I wasn't expecting to find my dress and actually had another appointment right after at Davids Bridal. Safe to say I called David's to cancel my appointment midway. The volunteers were wonderful. I fell in love with the first dress I tried on. It was a Romona Keveza dress at 1/4th of the prize. The dress was really tight and no one in the shop was sure there was enough space on the inside so they let me run over to their preferred seamstress for her to confirm it cold be altered before I bought it (with collateral of course). I couldn't believe how accommodating they were. Everyone there was so kind and it felt like I was trying on my dress in front of friends. It really was a great experience and I am so happy with my dress. I have to go back and get a veil I wasn't too sure about but now regret not getting. You absolutely have to give this store a chance. Icing on the case is that you are helping different great causes.

Out of all of the places I had appointments, this shop had the most professional and friendly service. They had a huge selection of beautiful dresses and they were able to provide the special experience I had dreamed of. It also felt good to know my money was supporting a good cause given that I will only be wearing the dress once. I still have a couple of months until my wedding but I can’t wait to walk down the aisle to my fiancé in a dress I know he will love.

I found my dream dress here! This is an amazing store! The service was above and beyond my expectations. In addition, their goal of using the funds from the purchase of dresses to help nonprofit truly touched me. The people working there are volunteers and passionate. I trusted their opinions since they aren't getting commission. I would recommend this shop for any bride.

Donna and her staff were just amazing and friendly. They let me look around and didn't pressure anything about what dress was good or bad. They made me feel like I was a queen. It only took me 2 dresses before the one I said yes to and it truly was a fairytale dress. I would recommend this shop to find your fairytale dress!!

I was able to find a designer dress, veil and jewelry at an affordable price. The staff who operate this incredible boutique catered to me the entire session. I was impressed with the selection of dresses and they were all in pristine condition. This is a MUST for women who want to feel beautiful and find an amazing dress for you special day.

I really loved this boutique. It was the first and the last boutique I visited to buy my wedding dress! They listened very carefully to what I was looking for and ultimately picked the dress I chose to purchase! It's perfect and I purchased it for an amazing price! A never been worn, $3500 dress for only $800! It is so elegant and perfect for my wedding day. The boutique had so many options to choose from and it was clear that all the women helping me were just as excited to help me find the dress as I was! Furthermore, I am SO excited that money from my purchase goes towards a scholarship fund for a Montgomery County high school student to go to MC. It really made my purchase feel right. I love that I can give back to my community while making this purchase. I would highly recommend this vendor!

I was able to find a Casa Blanca wedding dress for about half the price! Not only am I obsessed with my dress, but the procedes go toward scholarships for young girls and help for women who have been abused. The volunteers were so helpful and thoughtful! There should be way more shops like this in the world. It makes me so happy that the money I spent on a wedding dress (which was 1/4 the price of lower end bridal stores) was not just for me but also for local charities. The volunteers were so nice and we found the perfect dress. I will definitely consider donating my dress back afterwards to keep on giving!

The staff here were very friendly and helpful. I got a beautiful Vera Wang ball gown style dress for a good price. I also was looking for a dress last minute (two months before my wedding) and they were able to squeeze me in that week.

While I didn't end up purchasing a dress from Fairytale Brides, I had a lovely time shopping here with my mom. I made an appointment on a weekend and the ladies working there were so accommodating on letting me try on multiple dresses and styles. They have a fantastic collection, especially in the Couture section. While they don't have alterations on site, they do recommend someone. I plan to return here again; maybe next time my dream dress will be there!

This is a great place to find the perfect dress! I love that all of the proceeds go to various charities since I couldn't get over paying an arm and a leg for a dress I'd wear once in my life! 13 days before my wedding I decided to get a "wedding" dress. This was my second marriage and I thought I would be happy in a cocktail dress but at the last minute I changed my mind. I contacted the boutique on a Sunday morning and was able to get an appt that same day. We worked with Donna who was so patient with the multiple dresses I wanted to try on. She helped me find the PERFECT dress and hair piece- I did not even need alterations. I loved the idea of recycling dresses, that was my "something borrowed," and the mission of this organization. Now that my wedding is over I plan to donate my dress back so someone else can enjoy it as much as I did.

I found the most beautiful inexpensive dress 2 weeks before my wedding. I had a dress onot hold at another vendor which would have costed me twice the amount plus I needed alterations.
I wasn't for sure if that dress was truly me, but the dress at fairytale brides was the true fairytale I feel like a fairytale princess for sure now.

I had the best experience at Fairytale Brides. I went to several boutiques prior to visiting Fairytale Brides and had a really difficult time justifying the purchase of a $1k+ dress that I'm going to wear for a total of eight hours. I was also really frustrated at the lack of transparency in the wedding industry. Why are wedding dresses so expensive? And then after some quick Googling, I found Fairytale Brides! It was a dream come true. Not only did my purchase help support an amazing nonprofit, I found the dress of my dreams. The process of finding the dress was really casual and informal, which I really appreciated. I can't recommend this boutique more highly!

This place is amazing! The staff is so helpful, patient and very professional! I actually called and described the dress I was looking for and she had it ready for me to try on when I arrived for my appointment. It was perfect for me! The selection and service are top notch and the prices "AMAZING"!! Honestly, you get so much for so little (as compared to other dress companies I've visited), it's UNBELIEVABLE! They have beautiful wedding dresses, accessories, veils and jewelry, too! I live in Woodbridge, Virginia and it was totally worth the trip to Rockville, Maryland! I highly recommend this company. Their organization serves a good cause and delivers great dresses to you at a an unbelievable price. Just one word of caution, use your "Own" seamstress for alterations. Find a seamstress you trust. I did not care for the one they recommended to me. I used her, only because this company had referred her to me...but I will not use her again.

I did not have a lot in mind when I was looking for my wedding dress, but it was waiting for me in this store!! It was only the 2nd shop I went to when looking for dresses, and as soon as I tried on the 3rd dress in the store I knew it was the one because I started crying! This store is great to help you either get ideas for the kind of dress you may want, or to find the dress you want at a great price! Since I was able to save so much on my dress, I could spend it on other great things for the wedding, like a better photographer to take pictures in the dress! It was also really nice to get one on one attention in a smaller store where the employees can really focus on you and what you are looking for in a dress. Also, while some of the dresses are 2nd hand, some of them have never been worn because they come from other bridal stores who cannot sell certain dresses, so the one I got had never even been worn. Not that that would have mattered much since all of the dresses looked like they had never been worn. You will NOT be disappointed with a dress you get from this store. I sure wasn't!
