Amazing Venue
We had such an AMAZING experience with the Fairmont. The staff there were so accommodating and so quick to respond! We were able to upgrade to the presidential suite for free which allowed us to have it as the bridal suite, a place for the after party, and for us to stay the night. We had the whole 2nd floor to ourselves. I don't have a negative thing to say about my experience with the Fairmont. We had such an AMAZING experience with the Fairmont. THRILLED with our wedding at the Fairmont
Note: that we thought the Fairmont was out of our budget, and we were originally only looking to them for a hotel block when we were looking at the Mid America Club. But the Fairmont won us over with an incredible package I could not be happier that we went that route. We had a wedding of around 170 at the Fairmont in December of 2018, with about half of our guests coming in from out of town. Our reception was in the ballroom, ceremony in the gold room, cocktail hour right outside -- everything happened on the same floor. We had lots of moving parts, dozens of hospitality bags and much more -- and working with Tracy Hartman, Tina Salus and Alyssa Olsen was a dream and a pleasure. They were incredibly patient, attentive, responsive and friendly. Our hotel block was competitively priced, the rooms were huge, and the staff was unbelievable when we were there -- anything we needed was a text or a phone call away! We'd have another event there in a heartbeat. I would absolutely recommend the Fairmont to anyone having a larger wedding in Chicago. Amazing location, amazing staff, hot and good food...the list goes on. The folks at the Fairmont were amazing. We asked them to help arrange a very small wedding and the caliber of what was provided far exceeded our expectations. I cannot think of anything that was not perfect. The folks at the Fairmont were amazing. We initially signed a contract to have our wedding in a different Chicago area hotel. Since my husband and I do not live in Chicago, we did not see the hotel before booking. Instead we relied on our friends and family to see the venue for us and take pictures. Unfortunately, we did not have a good experience. The catering manager was difficult to get in touch with, and we were not told that the person handling our event had recently quit. We were rushed out of the hotel- after traveling from California for the sole purpose of meeting the new catering director- because the director had booked someone else within an hour of our meeting. Saying we were frustrated does not encompass all the emotions of that day.
This is where the Fairmont comes in. After a stressful couple of weeks trying to get our original venue to abide by its promises, we contacted the Fairmont. Wayne and his team worked with us and ensured that we got everything we wanted.
As far as the wedding weekend itself, I have no complaints. I spend the weekend in an amazing suite overlooking lake Michigan and downtown. The Gold ballroom, where the wedding was held, was simply gorgeous and fit our vision of the big day perfectly. I love looking at my pictures and seeing the beautiful chandeliers and the amazing lighting that the Fairmont provided. Everything looked elegant, and I could not have asked for a better venue for my wedding.
Last but not least, the food was delicious. We ordered the Asian station and the American station. After our wedding ceremony, my husband and I went into a private room to try all our appetizers and food from the stations. Everything was amazing, including the cake, main entrees, and desserts, was perfect. It is not easy feeling 180 people, but the Fairmont was able to do it.We initially signed a contract to have our wedding in a different Chicago area hotel. The setting was beautiful, even though they were doing construction on the hotel. They were very accommodating in personally escorting our guests through the hotel to the ballroom, since the construction made manuevering around very difficult. For the inconvenience it caused, the hotel came up with the idea to give glasses of champagne to each guest as they got off the escalator, complimentary! It really set the tone for the evening. The Banquet Manager and Catering Director, Wayne Harth, were a dream to work with. My father-in-law didn't eat lamb or fish, which is what we served, so they graciously and rapidly accommodated him by bringing out a filet mignon. They turned around the room in exactly the amount of time they had promised. The Chef even sent dinners up to the Honeymoon Suite so we would have something to eat later in the night. They went the extra mile in everyway. It was very expensive and worth every penny. I wish I had another event so I could hold it at The Fairmont! Oh, and the rooms were gorgeous! The Honeymoon Suite was enormous and they gave my parents an extra large suite of their own. Another nice touch-they catered the room where the photography took place.
