Karen and her assistant, Beverly, were amazing assets to have on our team for our wedding day. We used Karen for month-of planning and felt that it was exactly what we needed. She helped us create a very detailed timeline for the day-of, and was very reachable for any questions we had. She also adapted with ease to my many changes in the timeline. On our wedding day, she ensured that everything ran smoothly and on time, even with some delays from hair/makeup and rain that caused us to execute our rain plan at the last moment. Everything was beautiful and I didn't have to worry on my wedding day that anything wasn't going as planned. In addition, my strapless gown was slightly big, and Beverly was prepared with needle and thread (as well as super glue!) to sew me into my dress and ensure I could dance all night! -

Karen is amazing!
From when I first met Karen, I knew she would be the attentive, caring, professional, lovely and amazing planner she ended up being. She’s incredibly easy to work with and truly knows how to plan and execute the wedding of your dreams. I’m an extremely picky person and often do not trust suggestions or recommendations from others so I was a little hesitant about working with a planner in general. But Karen took the time to get to know me, my husband, and what we wanted and matched us with the right vendors and items for our wedding. Working with her was truly the highlight of my planning experience to the point where I didn’t want the date to come!
Our planning experience had a lot of drama at a certain point and Karen was so masterful at handling it. We had multiple serious issues with our venue—often they would tell us one thing and then completely undermine it—not only did Karen handle them professionally she stood up for us and made sure we didn’t have to deal with the drama at all. When I say she handled it, Karen really went to bat for us. She had a meeting with the venue’s owner where she went toe to toe advocating for us assertively and compassionately while remaining completely professional. Also, before you assume, we had picked the venue before hiring Karen. I know that if we had waited, she would have helped us find a truly kind and beautiful venue.
So many other things went haywire, I couldn’t recount them all in this review, but I can tell you that consistently and without fail, Karen capably took care of each one. And that’s coming from someone who has difficulty with letting go and allowing others to take control. Never at one point was I concerned or worried for how the wedding day would turn out. I knew Karen and Fab Affairs would handle everything better than I could have dreamed and it was that and so much more.
To be honest, there are so many wonderful things I could put in this review about Karen and Fab Affairs, I just simply don’t have the time to detail each one.
TL;DR: Karen/Fab Affairs will not disappoint you. She’s everything you’d want in a planner and more!! -

For the day of services that we paid for, she was always available to answer questions in the months leading up to the event and then the month of our event she took over all our vendor contacts for us and got them organized. Her attention to detail with the timeline is second to none. She knows what she is doing and is able to call on her years of experience in making sure everything is covered. We did not have to worry about anything but each other the day of the wedding thanks to her. Thank you, Karen! - Cody & Andy -
User2289310 Sent on 08/27/2015I am the mother of the bride. I could not have helped my daughter plan the wedding of her dreams without Karen. Her services are priceless!! She was there when we needed advice or just to chat. She scheduled meetings to let us know what should be done by now and what we needed to do in the up coming months. Right down to the wire she kept in contact Wedding day came and....... it rained! Mind you this was an outdoor wedding. Karen was running around trying to salvage the day and she did!!! The rain stopped shortly and the ceremony was preformed with rainbows in the background. we couldn't have planned any better!! She and Chelsea went above and beyond what is expected of a wedding planner. Waaaaay above!! This was my 3rd daughter with one more to go. I know who we will be seeking out when the time comes. User2187233 Sent on 06/19/2015Karen is simply amazing. She was a pleasure to work with for my June 6th wedding at Snowshoe Mountain, WV. She was very professional yet easy to talk to. Karen put all the finishing touches on my wedding, taking it from just another wedding to and unforgettable event for us and our guests. I'm sure there was lots of craziness going on behind the scenes but Karen stopped all of that from getting to the wedding party, allowing us to enjoy an stress-free day with out bridesmaids and groomsmen. When my husband and I made it to the reception site, we couldn't believe how it had been transformed. All of our vendors seemed to enjoy working with Karen as well. I literally cannot say enough good about her. If anyone asks me for wedding advice, my number one suggestion would be to contact Karen! -

It was such a relief to be able to say 'what do you suggest' and be provided with a great idea or to say 'you may take care of it' and have the reassurance that it would get done, whatever it was. -

Ashley Sent on 09/05/2013I originally found out about Karen and Fab Affairs from one of our college friends about a year ago. My friend was getting in married in NC, however, her wedding coordinator lived in the NOVA area so we figured why not give her a try. Karen showed up to our home with her pixie hair and big smile and I knew we would pick her, but we wanted to see her pricing and hear a little more about her experience. She made my fiancé and I feel quite at ease and even offered us multiple options for our big day based off of our budget. We originally wanted a “day-of” coordinator, but ended up writing a contract with Karen for 6 months of planning plus the day of. It was a great decision. Karen was always readily available and even answered questions for us prior to our 6 month planning contract. Once our contracted time kicked in, Karen was always working with me to keep me on track, provide vendor help, and we often met to go over any details or questions that my fiancé and I had. Karen really paid off though in the last few weeks and the big day. She helped negotiate times with my vendors, helped me coordinate our bridal processional, and even helped get me out of a situation with a vendor I had decided not to use. On our big day, we had a few issues with our shuttle service and Karen was on top of it and it definitely helped keep me from full-blown panic mode. She also helped keep us on track for all the typical wedding tasks like cake tasting and the bouquet toss. Now that our wedding has come and gone, I will miss Karen as she has become more of a friend than a vendor for us. I would definitely recommend her for any of my friends’ weddings in the future.
Also I want to note that while Karen usually works for the Nova area, she is based out near Front Royal so I highly recommend her for anyone in the Linden, Winchester, Martinsburg area as well :)
