Gretchen and her team were more than I could have asked for. She was my day of coordinator and her company NOVA Florals did our flowers. Everything was perfection and the day was seamless thanks to her. She answered all our questions and was there to walk me through every step of the day and calm my nerves when needed. Hands down best choice of our wedding was having Gretchen help us as a day of coordinator. She was extremely detail oriented and worked nonstop on our big day to make sure everything ran smoothly. She is a ROCKSTAR. She went above and beyond to make us feel taken care of and even seamlessly fixed a debacle with our shuttle services. We could not have gotten through without her. I began organizing our wedding two years ago when my husband was away on deployment and I needed assistance with the planning. I heard about Events by Dragonfly and Gretchen through our venue. Before reaching out to her, I contacted a few other vendors in alphabetical order, but none of them seemed like the right fit for us. However, from the first chat with Gretchen, I had a feeling she was the one! Not only is she incredibly professional, but she also became like an older sister, a friend, a bridesmaid, a maid of honor, and a best friend all rolled into one at times! She took on multiple roles for me during the wedding planning and on the big day that I'll never forget.
With Gretchen, you don't have to worry about a thing! If you have a concern or question, she's already got it covered! I hired her for a partial package, and we collaborated on various vendors and tasks. She kept me organized, even in areas where I had to take the lead in hiring vendors. Gretchen is super professional, always on time, on top of things, and a great communicator. She's a total boss lady! She's your advocate and an expert in her field, which is a huge help for stressed-out brides like me who were balancing full-time school, work, and wedding planning.
Gretchen led us through the entire planning process, ensuring everything ran smoothly. She handled all the coordination in the best way possible, answering all our questions and reminding me if I forgot something. Gretchen assisted us in selecting vendors, reviewing contracts to protect us, offering design input, and taking charge of our day-of wedding planning and florals. She excels at what she does and is a valuable resource.
Gretchen is a fantastic team player who knows how to handle stressful situations discreetly, ensuring that neither the couple nor the guests are aware of any hiccups. She's the best, and I can't recommend her enough. She was there for me when I needed her the most, like when my dress zipper got stuck, and she fixed it within seconds. She even had spare lipstick in her pocket for me when I couldn't find mine. On the wedding day, she'll be your guiding hand, thinking and planning on your behalf to ensure everything goes smoothly. I can't stress enough what a blessing she is—look no further!

Gretchen and her team were AMAZING. We simply would not have had a successful wedding without her help, on the day of as well as the months beforehand. On the day of, I didn't worry about a single logistical thing. If I needed anything, Gretchen was there after one text. They set up all of our DIYs/decorations even BETTER than I envisioned. We also used this company for florals, and they turned out gorgeous. The colors matched PERFECTLY with the bridesmaids dresses/our wedding colors. I squealed when I saw it all put together!! I'm so glad that we hired Gretchen/Dragonfly/Nova Florals for our wedding. -

Gretchen was our day of coordinator at our wedding at Morais Vineyards this August. She was absolutely amazing!!!!! She is so organized, supportive, detail oriented and was just the best person to have with us to make our whole wedding day run like a well oiled machine. She was also our florist (with her company Nova Florals)… and it goes without saying how absolutely gorgeous and exquisite her floral arrangements and decorations were. We didn’t have to worry at all on our wedding day about timeline, flow, minute details, or guests’ needs. She took care of everything. She even helped bustle my dress and carry my veil during photos! look no further if you want your wedding day to be amazing

I have known Gretchen for quite a while, having been lucky enough to intern and learn from her during my time in college. When I got engaged in 2019, I knew Gretchen was the only person I wanted to work with to plan our wedding. After all, she is the very best. As we set out to plan our day I never could have imagined that we’d be faced with a pandemic or a global shut down and all out ban on events. Gretchen navigated all the uncharted territories and uncertainty that came with COVID, on top of a year long postponement AND venue change exuding nothing but cool, calm professionalism the entire time. She was truly our life line throughout the two years we were in limbo of Covid wedding planning. Fast forward to the wedding weekend this October and Gretchen delivered the wedding of our dreams and more. From the event logistics to the flowers to managing all the vendors, Gretchen exceeded all expectations. I cannot adequately express how amazingly talented she is or how thankful I am for her. If you’re thinking of hiring Dragonfly Events for your wedding, you absolutely will not be disappointed. I know exactly who I’ll be calling for all future event needs and to just unwind with good company. -

We Love Gretchen!
I could not be happier in our choice of wedding coordinators and florists – Gretchen with Dragonfly and her Nova Florals team did a spectacular job with our day. I clicked with Gretchen immediately during our first conversation – she was professional and kind, and very patient. She had great ideas for working within our budget and matching our style. She picked up on my vision for our day immediately and executed it flawlessly. She was so patient with my many questions, and on the day of she was a calm and professional presence. As we approached wedding day, Gretchen made sure we had everything we need and was very communicative. On our wedding day, my husband referred to her as our “rock” who handled everything discreetly and never showed any signs of stress. We both agree that hiring a coordinator was the best decision, and I think having Gretchen as our coordinator and florist created a dreamy, romantic aesthetic that she knew better than anyone! We adore Gretchen! Her work ethic, organization, and communication are unmatched. Her coordination has been by far our best investment, and she granted my family full peace of mind with her hard work. She was patient with our hundred requests, all heading in different directions. She helped us come to decisions, and pushed us to the finish line with care and attention. She knew all members of my family by name and relation, who in turn enjoyed calling upon her and having her nearby as the most trustworthy source.

Gretchen was a delight to work with! I had an array of ideas, flowers, and colors I liked but knew nothing about flowers. She somehow seemed to combine all the best elements and created the most beautiful bouquets, centerpieces, and boutonnieres I've ever seen. She also had draping and greenery throughout the venue which gave it a wonderfully warm and romantic feel, not to mention she surprised me with draping greenery on the outside of the barn which was literally picture perfect! Gretchen really brought everything I had I had envisioned to life... maybe even better than I envisioned :) -

It took less than 5 minutes for my wife to fall in love with the ideas Gretchen provided. She knew exactly what we wanted before we even said anything. The flowers & placement made our wedding gorgeous. The bride bouquet & boutonnières were even more beautiful than what we expected. She worked with us to keep within our budget and made sure we were nothing but happy throughout the entire process. All of our guests were delighted to hear they could take these beautiful pieces of living art home to enjoy just a little longer. Our experience with Gretchen and Hayley at Dragonfly was wonderful and everything we hoped it would be for our wedding. We hired Dragonfly for florals (now called Nova Florals) and for day-of coordination, and they exceeded expectations in both of these capacities. We were nervous at first because we were planning our wedding from five hundred miles away from our venue, and we wanted it to include lots of vintage glassware, a homemade arch for the ceremony, and lots of other details that would require unpacking a moving truck, setting up, and putting floral touches on before our ceremony and reception; we had no reason to worry, though, because Gretchen and her team had everything handled from the get-go.
One of the best things about working with Gretchen was how frequently and professionally she communicated with us starting at the very beginning of our relationship with her. In addition to an in-person consultation and other scheduled in-person meetings (to check in, to drop off details for florals, etc. etc.), we also had multiple hour-plus-long check-ins via phone that were scheduled in advance and helped to ensure that everybody was on the same page and that all the small details were accounted for. Gretchen’s enthusiasm about our vision for our wedding and her encouragement to do things exactly the way we wanted to do them was really refreshing, especially when all the planning minutiae were starting to feel overwhelming. She also did a great job of smoothing over and clarifying some communication gaps and misunderstandings with our venue, which was a huge plus since our venue had some major staff turnover during our engagement with them. Before our wedding day, we had an amazingly thorough timeline, an excellent idea of what our florals were going to look like, and the utmost confidence that we were in great hands.
Although Gretchen was the primary person with whom we communicated throughout our engagement with Dragonfly, Hayley was our actual on-site coordinator for the dayof and she did a fantastic job. Both she and Gretchen were present for the walkthrough and rehearsal at our venue, and by the end of the pre-wedding process we felt good that all the last-minute things had been addressed and thought through as carefully as they possibly could be. Hayley handled everything with a smile, from bringing an armful of champagne glasses to the girls in the middle of the day to lining up a bilingual group for the ceremony processional to working with our venue staff to make sure we had everything we needed throughout the reception.
This review has been mostly about the day-of coordination (which was amazing!) but I need to gush for a moment too about how perfect the flowers were! During the planning process, Gretchen was extremely receptive to different ideas about what specific stems would look great in our colors and what would add texture to our overall look; she also had plenty of great suggestions that definitely helped to make our wedding florals as beautiful and interesting as possible. In addition to creating lovely renditions of the standard bouquets and boutonnières, Gretchen (through Nova Florals) also made hair combs for the women in the bridal party from a combination of real and artificial flowers and succulents that were just perfect.
We couldn’t recommend Dragonfly and Nova Florals highly enough, and we’re so grateful for everything they did to make our big day a success! -

I said time and time again throughout my wedding planning process that Gretchen was my angel and I still standby that statement. I probably second guessed every choice leading up to my wedding except for two things: saying yes to my fiance (now husband) and hiring Gretchen.
She was thoughtful, creative, organized, detail-oriented, and incredibly experienced. Gretchen kept me and my family grounded in what was most important and brought us back when we started spiraling since we'd never done anything like it before!
She took care of the details and was a true partner in every aspect. I was in NYC planning a wedding in Leesburg, VA and she made herself available whenever I needed to chat in addition to regular touchbases, always being flexible and reassuring me we were right on track by being transparent with timelines and goals we needed to achieve. There are so many instances where I appreciated her offering her expert opinion when I needed it most - no question was too big or too small, she really knows what she's doing!
Beyond her expertise, she is kind and so much fun, so she let's you enjoy it all. My guests told me that it was the most fun and organized wedding they had ever been to! All thanks to Gretchen.
Plus, we had Dragonfly Events & Design do our flowers/decor and I was blown away by all she did. We did not stop hearing about how beautiful everything was from our guests.
It's so hard to write a review to capture everything Gretchen did, but this is my best! You will be blown away if you go with Gretchen and Dragonfly Events & Design. -

Gretchen also did my florals which were STUNNING and I got so many compliments on how beautiful my flowers were! She literally made my Pinterest board come to life and I couldn't believe how beautiful my wedding looked! She is very organized and made a whole floor plan and itinerary for me that we collaborated on which helped so much!! I was sad that Gretchen couldn't be at my wedding because she already had another one booked, but her assistant Jessie was there and she was amazing!! She made everything look gorgeous and made the day run very smoothly and calmed me down!!! I really don't know how people have weddings without planners - if you're doubting hiring one - stop now and hire Dragonfly!!

She worked on my flowers (bouquets, boutonnieres, centerpieces, flower arrangements for the ceremony, and the most beautiful floral hair piece. The flowers had already been delivered by the time I even arrived to the ceremony site!
When I saw the flowers I was awe struck. They were gorgeous and absolutely everything I had asked for. My bridal bouquet was lavish and colorful and I received so many compliments on how beautiful it was. The decor for the reception looked awesome and Gretchen was even flexible enough to make me an extra centerpiece just days before the wedding when I had to re-arrange my table assignments. Gretchen's work is incredible and I was so happy with the final product! Thank you Gretchen! -

She was always there to listen to all my ideas for decorations, and really brought to life our vision with her talent for design. Both Gretchen and her assistant Morgan were so kind on our wedding day, working all day and night to make sure everything was beautiful and went off without a hitch.
The flowers (my bouquet! the pergola we married under! the centerpieces! the orchids for my hair!) were all simply gorgeous! The string lights she hung for us made the renovated barn where we had dinner and dancing look like an enchanted inn in the countryside. I am so glad Dragonfly Events and Design was there to coordinate with all my other vendors as well, so I didn't have to worry about a thing when plans changed last minute due to a potential rainstorm.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Dragonfly to other couples planning a wedding or anyone needing help with a large event. -

We had an image in our heads and worked with Dragonfly and our planner to make it happen. Dragonfly was very patient as we tried to express what we invisioned. They also worked with us to keep the price within our budget.
As our wedding day unfolded, we could not have been more happy with the floral arrangements. Dragonfly added just the right touches to accent the beauty of the day, the venue, dinner and everything they touched. We were very pleased with the flowers and so happy Dragonfly was an important part of our day.

All I can say is wow! Gretchen is amazing. The floral and decor turned out absolutely beautiful and the flowers were so fresh. I gave her a budget, let her know what I had in mind, provided her my wedding colors as well as my Pinterest board, and she ran with that and delivered perfectly and we were blown away. The final outcome was more than imagined. You will not be disappointed working with Dragonfly. I am very thankful we chose them as our floral and decor vendor. -
Vanessa Sent on 12/12/2017Gretchen was my day-of-planner and my florist. Her flowers were absolutely stunning. EVERYONE was sure to tell me how beautiful they were. She used the bridesmaids bouquets as the centerpieces to help save some money and volunteered some other great ideas to stay within my budget.
Admittedly I was a little hyper when the wedding planning first began (what bride isn't) and I was concerned that she wasn't going to be as attentive as I needed her to be, but that all changed when we were 4-5 months out. We met and she gave me this extraordinary itinerary which outlined our entire wedding ensuring that it went off without a hitch.
Gretchen counseled me through some difficulty I was having with other vendors honoring their contracts and when the wedding day came, she wrangled a rowdy 18-person bridal party plus our families - some of which were not American, did not speak and there was a severe language barrier.
She was FANTASTIC. I will recommend her to every bride I know in the area. -

Amazing!!!
After a stressful start to our wedding planning, being ghosted by a previous planner, we were incredibly fortunate to find Dragonfly Events and Design. Gretchen was a breath of fresh air, immediately putting our anxieties at ease. From the very beginning, she was a constant source of support and guidance, staying by our side throughout the entire planning process and our wedding day itself.
We had a very specific and unique vision for our wedding, and Gretchen embraced it wholeheartedly. Instead of being daunted, she was enthusiastic and resourceful. Her extensive connections within the community proved invaluable, allowing her to assemble the perfect team to bring our dream to life. Her expertise and knowledge gave us the confidence to entrust her with numerous crucial tasks, and she delivered flawlessly.

Traci Sent on 07/22/2012Dragonfly Events & Design provided the lighting and decor for my wedding reception. While the decor turned out great, the lighting was much too harsh for my space. Gretchen and I had several conversations about a "midsummer night" vibe, but the lighting was so bright and harsh it was not even dim in the reception hall. Especially given the cost, I was very disappointed.
I would recommend Dragonfly Events & Design for decor but not lighting.
