I absolutely LOVED working with this company! My initial consultation phone call with the owner was so thorough and professional! I had a whole list of questions I planned to ask, but he was so on top of everything he answered them all before I even had to ask!
Day of we had DJ James and DJ Josh running the show. They absolutely killed it with every song! They were interactive with the crowd, timing the music perfectly!! They also did a flawless job with my song choices. Every song was correctly played and timed as discussed with DJ James prior to the day.
10/10 amazing! Everything was perfect and professional! -

John, the owner of DJ by CJ was more than just a DJ for us. He was our wedding guru!! He has so much experience in the wedding industry, that he was able to really help us make the best decisions for our day and knew how to perfectly time everything for our reception. We couldn't believe the level of professionalism and the quality of services we were receiving for such a reasonable price. Not only did John and his team provide the music but also lights, a video screen, cold sparks, and audio service for the ceremony.
Guests were coming up to us all night commenting on how DJ by CJ was the best wedding DJ they've ever experienced. I don't think the dance floor was ever empty. If you have the opportunity to hire DJ by CJ, DO IT!!! -

My wife Audrey and me had the absolute best time at our wedding all thanks to John!! He’s always time conscientious and helped us keep the night running smoothly. He played all of the music that we enjoyed and had our guests dancing the night away. The man knows how to throw a party! He even surprised me with a couple songs by my band and had us singin along and throwin down 🤘🏼 Side-note here. John is my uncle and one heckuva good dude. It was so special to not just have him as a guest but to have him as our DJ & emcee at our wedding. I can promise you that if you book him for your event, he’ll treat you like family too. From the very beginning, I knew that I had chosen the right wedding DJ. John was incredibly enthusiastic about every aspect of the wedding. He has amazing ideas about how to make the experience memorable for his clients. The journey to my wedding was a long, and very stressful one. I was forced to change my wedding date, then change my venue 11 days prior to the wedding. John was there to help me and reassure me every step of the way. He made us feel truly special. He isn't just a DJ, he is a performer! He gets everyone pumped up for the music, the dancing, the food, the cake, EVERYTHING! It was an absolute blast! I cannot recommend DJ by CJ enough. Through all the stress, he made everything easy, and I was never worried! He even used my obscure wedding aisle music choices, which I greatly appreciated. John, the owner of DJ by CJ, was very responsive from the beginning. He set up a call as soon as we inquired about the services offered and was very clear about all of our options. Additionally, John was quick to answer any questions we sent him.
Josh, our DJ, made sure he knew exactly what we wanted played throughout the night. He ensured he had the exact version of some of the songs we wanted to use. He did a good job playing our requested music while adding in some of his own picks to keep the energy up. -

John was an amazing DJ for our ceremony, cocktail hour, and also our reception on our wedding in February. He gave us great guidance and feedback as well as ideas we wouldn’t have thought of. He collaborated well with our other vendors and our venue and kept the entire day running very smoothly. His attention to detail and confirming the correct version of each song that was played Was huge as we had some special elements implemented into our day that were very specific.

Best DJ Ever!
As we were looking for a DJ for our wedding and we found John Strandberg (DJbyCJ). From our first phone call/interview with John (DJbyCJ), he was fun, inspiring and my wife and I could just tell he would be an awesome DJ. We had many other phone, email and even video chats with John and he was very professional but fun and uplifting to speak with. He was also very reassuring that he would make sure the wedding ceremony and reception went as planned. He sure did that (and more). He gave us ideas for songs, during our planning stages. During the reception, he kept all of our guests on the dance floor. Everything went perfect. The lighting, the music and all his introductions. Everything was perfect.
We can't thank John and his assistant enough for making our wedding day so wonderful. -

We are so happy to have had John and Noriel DJ our daughter's wedding. All the guests agreed they were the ones who MADE the reception. The wedding party wants to have a party just to hire them to DJ! I cannot recomend DJ by CJ enough. They are truly the best in town and we 100% recommend them. We had a destination wedding 11/30/2023 on St Pete Beach and John with DJ by CJ was on our preferred vendor list from our hotel and planner. Also, the other planner at our venue had used John for her wedding so I knew he just have been special.
After my first phone call woth John I knew he was exactly what we were looking for!
He walked me through what the whole day would look like, gave me enough time to choose my music, and also had some great suggestions for us.
The ceremony was beautiful in the beach and then John and Josh got everyone on the dance floor and having fun all night! He definitely reads the room and knows when to change up a song or music type and always found songs for us to dance and celebrate! He also had several fun moments for us such as our enterance into the tent for the reception. The bridal party came in excited and it perfectly set up our entrance. Towards the end of the night he had everyone circle us and sing for us, basically symbolizing the support we have. At the end he cleared the tent so we could have a final dance and take in the last moments while everyone else set up for the sparkler exit. The vibe was amazing, everyone said it was the funnest wedding and every guest complimented the DJ and the music! (We had about 50 guests total). Even my 91 year old grandma who traveled across the country for our wedding was up and dancing (with her cane 😊). So much fun! The best memories!!
He also took some amazing pictures of us throughout the night!
John was prompt to respond to me and was always very personable. I felt like he took the time to get to know us and our tastes in music as well as our 2 daughters!
I would 1000% recommend DJ by CJ! Thank you John and josh!! -

DJ by CJ was on our venue’s preferred vendor list, and we’re so happy we found them. I had an initial consultation with John and he was so friendly, and explained what to expect in detail. DJ Steven was assigned for our actual reception and our guests loved him. We had a few special requests, like a custom processional, and Steven made sure everything was perfect. We received so many compliments on the music and our dance floor was packed all night. Some guests even thought I made the playlist, because it was all my favorite songs 😊 Absolutely hire DJ by CJ for your wedding if you want a fun dance floor! -

The day that we toured our wedding venue, there was a wedding happening and DJ by CJ was the DJ. We knew right then and there that they were who we wanted as our DJ. (It was a plus that they were on the preferred vendor list at our venue as well!) They were absolutely AMAZING to work with from start to finished. We had a nearly 2 year engagement, but any time I reached out via email, they were quick to respond, even though our event was ways away. They were thorough and informative and it was just such a pleasure to work with them!! On the big day, I don't even have words good enough to express how absolutely, unbelievably FABULOUS they were!! They are more than "just" a DJ, they are a full on production! Everything ran smooth and exactly as we planned. We had a PACKED dance floor all night and our guests are still talking about what a fun wedding it was! We definitely owe that to DJ by CJ! They made sure it was a party all night long and it was truly THE BEST day of our lives. We recommend them 1,000%!!! -

When I was DJ searching for my wedding, i noticed a vendor review on Tampa Bay Weddings group page. this bride highly recommended DJ by CJ so i checked them out. after reading reviews i decided to go for it. from our very first conversation all the way to the wedding day John put my husband and i at complete ease. we were stressing and kind of clueless on how to go about a-lot of things. he helped us figure out a schedule and gave awesome suggestions. he'd give us options to choose from for entrance music and when i asked him for a mix of canon in d and the office piano theme song, he found the perfect ones to combine. he even helped my dad with catering suggestions. Best DJ ever! We knew from our first conversation that he'd be perfect. He's knowledgeable, fun, experienced, professional, etc.
We'd recommend him to anyone. Our friends and family were impressed with the playlist at the wedding and said it felt perfect for us. He got all our favorite songs in! He also ran the reception flawlessly, made a slideshow of our pictures to show during the reception, and as an added bonus, took some fabulous pictures of us and our event!

Dj Darby Place made our wedding EXACTLY what we wanted!! We had a postponed wedding in March 2020 due to Covid, and rescheduled for November 2020. From the beginning Darby was very responsive, easy to work with, and can tell he really enjoys what he does. He's extremely organized and a true Master of Ceremony. He'll make sure multiple times that he has everyone's name correct, has all the requested songs you want, and have you feeling confident in your wedding day from ceremony to reception. He provides pages of songs to choose from if you so wish, and makes sure to give you the *vibe* you want during all parts of the wedding day. The groom and I mingled a lot throughout the reception, but anytime my feet hit the dance floor, Darby would play a specific song I requested. His attention to detail and ability to keep everyone dancing/fit the mood was outstanding. 10/10 recommend hiring DJ Darby!! -

Having a wedding during a pandemic is quite the challenge and finding vendors you can trust is not easy. However, as soon as I had my initial call with John, the owner of DJ by CJ, I knew he would go above and beyond with his role as our wedding DJ. He helped bring all of our wedding dreams to life.
He knows the importance of a DJ at a wedding and takes it very seriously. He created an amazing mix of music that had everyone dancing all night and made all the traditional wedding events so exciting and got the entire room involved. He brings an assistant that also does an amazing job at keeping the room upbeat. He set up multiple sound systems and played music through the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception which created a flow of events through the night. He sets up an initial phone call to go over what to expect and then meets with the couple again before the event to create the timeline of the day and go over your must have songs. He has high quality technology to bring the wedding alive from ceremony to reception. His tvs loop pictures of the couple during the reception and he had lighting to enhance the dance floor. His energy while he is MCing is contagious and truly brings the party alive.
We had to do things different during the pandemic which created a few last minute changes that he helped us navigate. We also had the best man speech as a video and an other video of some special people who weren’t able to make it and he was able to broadcast it to the entire ball room over the tvs that he brings with him. He thought of so many things so I wouldn’t have to and if I had to plan my wedding all over again there is no doubt my husband and I would pay every penny for DJ by CJ. Other than my venue, John was my favorite part of the day/evening. When we had our first initial phone call I was like "this guy is gonna be good" and then when we had our details meeting I was like "dang this guy is gonna be really good"... and then the day came and we were really blown away with what an incredible job he did. He was engaging with our guests and helped to make people feel welcome and excited, he kept the energy going so that we still had quite a crowd when the night was over. I highly recommend DJ by CJ, so much so that while on our honeymoon we booked him for our Christmas party this year. Thank you John and team for being the bomb diggity DJ crew!! -

My husband and I recently hired DJ Nick Bockholt for our wedding and honestly could not have asked for a better DJ. He was exceptionally professional, reaching out as time got closer to nail down details, super attentive, quick to respond to text/calls, and overall a genuine person who knew what he was doing and did it well!
Between the music, lighting, announcements and the fun games, Nick really made sure that the atmosphere of our wedding was everything we could have hoped for and more. My husband and I hand picked a lot of our songs, but then we asked Nick to use his judgment on additional songs based off our taste in genre. Nick was very detail oriented, ensuring that everything went exactly as requested. At the end of our beautiful day, we received tons of compliments on the music and the overall environment provided by Nick.
DJ by CJ is seriously the only music service that I would recommend to anyone if you are looking for an absolutely flawless and memorable wedding. We feel like we made a friend for life!! -

John from DJ by CJ and his assistant exceeded any expectations I had for my DJ services on my wedding day. I typically feel out of my element and uncomfortable dancing/ on the dance floor and I give them both credit for creating a memorable experience for my husband and I. I've had so many compliments from my guests regarding my DJ, song choice, and energy level of the night. John made it a point to ensure that everything was running smoothly and checked-in and guided us throughout the evening. The company on the preferred vendor list for my venue and I would recommend their services in a heartbeat. John sat with my husband and I to go through a run down of the event a little less than a month prior, which helped me put together the pieces of what to expect during the night and he was very patient and helpful picking out dedicated songs that I needed for the night (final dance, walking down the aisle, etc). Our wedding was on November 16th, 2019.The first time we met prior to the wedding we went through what we wanted regarding music,for us it was really important to have balance regarding Latin/Mexican and American songs because we wanted all of our guest to be on the dance floor. Afterwards he told us ,with so much detail, how our entrance was going to be, the cake cutting, the bouquet and garter toss...to be honest we wanted the wedding to start the next day, just by listening to him explaining all of it with the music, the light effects and the actual words of what they were going to say. This helped so much because we knew what was coming up and what we had to do.
On the day of the wedding as soon as the music started playing the dance floor was packed, everyone danced until the party was over, our feet hurt the next day for so much dancing, that’s how good it was!
Having Dj by CJ for our wedding was the best decision made, they were a key element on making the wedding super fun and enjoyable for every guest. -

My husband and I hosted a family friendly neighborhood 60's & 70's open house and dance party for the 50th Anniversary of Woodstook. Costumes were required and Darby help me run the children's hula hoop contest and the adult dance contest in addition to really getting everyone up on their feet and dancing the night away. We had close to 100 guests. Darby was early and totally set up by the time the first guests arrived and he even had a speaker set up outside on the Lanai with a separate volume control. DJ's are not just for weddings. We always hire some form of entertainment for any event my husband and I host along with a theme. A really good party requires more than just food and beverages, to keep your guests interacting. Thank you again, Darby. We have received so many kudos and calls from the people who attended, thanking us for a really fun time.
