Highly Recommend

We were supposed to get married in October 2020 but rescheduled due to the pandemic, and during this process Mike was supportive and amazing. He was responsive during the process and addressed all of our questions professionally and quickly. The day of, Jason and Mike knew where to go and which shots to get. As a plus size LBGTQ couple, we were naturally worried but Mike did an amazing job with our anxiety around a camera! We got our photos back quicker than we imagined and they are AMAZING! I am not someone who likes to take pictures of myself but I am so glad Mike and Jason knew how to capture the magic of the day.
I can't wait to share our pictures with our friends and family and to have these forever. I am so grateful that I hired Derby Studios for our wedding, and highly recommend!

Beautiful and Amazing Photos!

I don’t even know where to begin or how to even start. Mike is amazing, kind, and the sweetest! He does such a wonderful job! When we were looking for a photographer it was the hardest part of wedding planning. I was having a hard time finding one. Then I remembered back to when my older sister got married about 16 years ago. Mike actually photographed her wedding too. I remember as if it were yesterday how beautiful her photos came out. I reached out to my mom to find out who the photographer was and it was Mike. I google search and found he still did photography. I was ecstatic! I reached out to him and we booked him. I was so excited I found someone I knew and had already fallen in love with his photography. We got our engagement photos with him which came out perfect. We were ready to have our wedding and couldn’t wait! Then Covid hit…we had to postpone our wedding 3 times. Our venue recommended what everyone else did, exchange vows on our original date and having our big celebration later. So we did and mike was there to capture those vows for us. We then had our big day (10/9/21). It was such an amazing day! We got our wedding photos back already and I cannot even pick out my favorite one because they all are my favorite! I wish i could share all of them with you! Everyone mentions how beautiful the photos came out and they truly did! I cannot recommend mike enough! You will not be disappointed. Every time I look at the photos I fall in love with them all over again. I could go on and on but I highly recommend Mike to capture your moments, whether it be wedding, family, baby announcements, you name it. You will not be disappointed!

Amazingly skilled photographer!

Mike and his assistant were an amazing team and captured each moment of our wedding so perfectly. One thing I have to say about Mike, is that he has a way of putting everyone at ease. I had quite a few camera shy people in my wedding party and he really knew how to make everyone feel comfortable and make them laugh which made for really great photos! The other thing is that the turnaround time was much faster than I had anticipated. Overall great experience and would recommend to any friends and family.

Great photography

I love Mike and his assistant. I can’t say enough about the quality of his photos. He captured my big day wonderfully. Of course I’m having Derby Studios do my wedding album as well. I highly recommend them.

OBSESSED with our wedding pictures! Michael was a joy to work with. He was so easy going and accommodating, So professional and overall great vibe! On time and very flexible. Exceptional!

I couldn’t have been happier with my wedding photos. Every moment was captured and I’m so happy to have all the special moments of the day. Mike and his partner were quick with photos and we got to enjoy our wedding fully, even cocktail hour. With that said I couldn’t believe how many pictures we got back! Mike takes any suggestions, although he doesn’t really need them because he knows what he is doing! I would trust him over and over again with my wedding photos. His personality makes things fun, and you can’t help but smile when he is taking your pictures. Mike and Jay thank you for helping make our day perfect and for the amazing photos.

Great photographer!

Mike Skerry was our photographer for our beach wedding this past July. He was extremely easy to work with, very professional and talented! He captured the best parts of our day and so many more. Mike was also making us last and made getting our pictures taken a special part of the day. Our pictures came out beautiful. I would highly recommend!

An amazing experience with Mike!

Mike was absolutely amazing! We hired him and his assistant, Jason, for our 10/6 wedding on Block Island. We also hired him to photograph the rehearsal dinner the evening before. Mike was on time, professional, and captured every moment that we wanted. Most importantly were two things for us. (1) Mike helped scope out the best spots for photos and tested lighting ahead of time so that we could get the best shots. He suggested we visit the spots I was interested in the night before which was great - because one of my planned photo spots was actually under construction and Mike suggested a great alternative! (2) He was hilarious! He had an amazing ability to bring out real laughter and smiles from us and our wedding party. Our photos reflect that real and genuine emotion and joy from everyone. Mike and Jason captured every shot we had hoped for and also set up and unexpected great late-night setting for us too! We received the photos a month after the wedding and there are so many great shots to choose from that it's honestly overwhelming! It would be impossible to overstate how much we recommend Derby Studios!

Michael Skerry of Derby Studios is the Best! He and his assistant went way above and beyond. My entire family and wedding party enjoyed their laid back approach, amazingly great personalities and how attentive they were to detail. My pictures are absolutely beautiful. Working with Mike and his assistant Jason was an absolute delight!! He was always easy to get in contact with, answered all my questions and just handled everything wonderfully! I honestly didn't need to worry about a thing for my photos during my wedding because I knew Mike was handling it! Truth be told, I didn't even realize they were there half the time, that's how well he works with you and your party! He blended in, took amazing shots of my husband and myself, our bridal party and all of our lovely guests! He is so extremely professional and on point, that he does what he needs to without taking away from your special day! If anything, he adds to it! He had as all laughing for the photos to get us to shine or brightest smiles and we'll all never forget it! I highly recommend him, his beautiful work already speaks for itself, but just in case you need extra convincing take it from someone who's already had the pleasure of working with him, he's the very best!!

We found Michael through wedding wire. He is awesome. He is an amazing photographer with an eye for lighting! Our pictures are over the top. Attention to detail amazing and the infrared pictures are breathtaking.

I can't even begin to say how thankful I am that we used Michael and his assistant Jason for our wedding last week! He made everything VERY easy and stress free! The BEST thing about him through, is that he's SO QUICK! During our last meeting we talked about the order of the pictures we wanted to do so on the day of it was a breeze which allowed us extra time to relax and actually ENJOY our special day! I found Derby Studios on Wedding Wire and I'm glad I did. Michael was so great to work with and his photos from previous weddings blew us away! The day of the wedding, he kept my wedding party laughing while he was taking pictures and he was just so much fun! When the ceremony started, Michael went to photograph it and his assistant stayed with me and kept me hidden!! His assistant also taught us how to cut the cake!! It was super helpful! Once the sun set, Michael grabbed us and took us out for some night time photography! I can't wait to see what our pictures look like!

Mike did a fantastic job photographing our wedding. He is such a charismatic guy who has a way of taking pictures without disruption. Michael was incredible and beautifully captured all the special moments that made our wedding so memorable. He is creative, and non obtrusive - we got fantastic shots without spoiling the spontaneity of our day. We just received our proofs, and could not be happier. Also, unlike most photographers, Michael does not force you to buy albums that will just sit on the shelf. We were provided a CD which we can easily, and cost effectively, share with our family and friends. Michael is the best and we highly recommend him for any occasion

We knew from Mike's website that he did beautiful work....sophisticated and fun at the sane time. What we didn't know until we met him was how warm and engaging he would turn out to be. My family thought he was great to work with and he took the most amazing pictures that truly captured who we are and how happy we all were that most special day. We made the best decision to trust Mike's knowledge of the area and let him take us on an adventure that we'll cherish the rest of our lives!

And PS .... His helper was friendly, helpful to us all and very professional.

We were thrilled with the excellent service provided by photographer Mike Skerry from Derby Studios for our wedding. From our first meeting with Mike we found his energy and enthusiasm infectious, and all through the wedding and reception he had a wonderfully dynamic personality that put everyone at ease. For the bride and groom photos he selected great locations in Swampscott and Marblehead that provided beautiful scenic backdrops, and his positivity helped make what can be a challenging part of the wedding day a real pleasure. The pictures were made available to us less than a month after the wedding, and the overall cost for the quality of the work and photos was very reasonable.

Mike at Derby Studios was a pleasure to work with! He has a great way of getting everyone to relax and take natural looking photos. He arrived to the venue before we got there, and was taking nonstop photos from the second we walked in until the end. Both he and his assistant captured the whole day beautifully, it was great getting two photographers for multiple angles of the same moment. Many people involved in the wedding commented how great Mike was to work with. Not only did we have a lot of fun working with Mike, but we also got over 1000 high resolution photos- I would highly recommend him to other brides!

Michael Skerry is such an awesome photographer. Our wedding day was a hit or miss weekend. Friday poured at our afternoon clambake. We asked mike to take pictures he knew that I was upset because of the weather. So what does he do? He brings umbrellas with him (one was a vineyard vines ... My fav store) and started taking some amazing photos with all of us. We loved the pictures he is so warm and funny! Working with Mike from Derby Studios really made our wedding day fun! We decided to book an engagement session with him before the wedding, which I highly recommend. This got us used to the camera and we got a sense of how he works. It is also just really great to have those photos to look back at.

We chose to do a "first look" to get most of our pictures done prior to the ceremony. I am so glad we did this! It actaully took the pressure off a little bit. Mike is really great at his job. He is able to move through the photos needed, but is so upbeat and friendly, it is really hard not to smile when he is behind the camera! As he was snapping away, his token phrase of the day was "ooo baby." That means he really likes the photo! This made my family and bridal party laugh, and all night long everyone was saying "ooo baby."

Mike had an assistant with him that day which was really helpful. Someone was there to take additional pictures, but to also make sure we were looking our best during the photos. He was never in your face, as a matter of fact, I don't even remember seeing the photographers throughout the day, but I know they were there because we have a TON of photos from beginning to end! I can't believe how many pictures we got! It is so fun to look through them all and remember every little part of the day.

We got our proof's in a timely manor and I can't wait to pick the photos for our album he is going to put together for us!

We had a very contemporary small formal wedding consisting of our family. It was a beautiful starlight night and Michael Skerry's photography captured the intimacy of our ceremony and reception. I contacted Michael Skerry on very short notice. My photographer (family member) had broken her leg 4 weeks prior to my wedding. I was devastated and was given derby studios name through our wedding planner. Needless to say he was awesome! He was so accomodating he had an engagement shot that day and even worked it so that he could spend the day with us! He had us captivated from the moment we met him. Our pictures came out incredible. He was so much fun to work with. I didn't even have to give him any instructions he knew exactly what shots i wanted re my family etc. This man is truly a professional photographer. I am so thankful I went with him and didn't just use a "novice". I was told that the pictures of your wedding are the joy you feel over and over when you look at them. Our photos tell our story. My wedding weekend was a snowfall event! You can imagine getting married on cape cod in a blizzard. However, it was a day that was perfect. My thanks to Michael Skerry and his staff, they outdid themselves! Michael's photos were perfect, it looked like a day out of a winter magazine. The sun, the glistening snow and the amazing scenery of the cape, made it look like that day was ordered just for us. Our wedding was a blast! The day was perfect and honestly Michael Skerry made our memories of it.......the photos breathtaking. Our very small intimate wedding was a last minute event, Michael Skerry was so gracious and was able to take photos at our cape cod destination on very short notice! Our Saturday night wedding was on Lighthouse beach, a little cold and blustery but very romantic, the pictures Mike took were breathtaking...... some shots of my husband and I look like it was a warm summer evening, but no one could guess it was 18 degrees! Micheal was excellent! He did exactly what I asked! I love candid photos and Micheal captured all of my guests really enjoying themselves! Micheal made sure to get all of the group shots and family photos as well. I will cherish my photos for a lifetime! I will and have recommended Micheal to all my friends and family.

Michael was our first choice for our small, intimate wedding. He was exceptional! Our pictures came out better than I could have ever hoped for.

Michael was professional detail oriented extremely courteous to my wedding party and guests. The pictures were outstanding I was blown away by how incredible they were. He is the true professional and was a great part of my wedding! Thank you for the amazing memories !!!!!!

Michael helped make my special day even more amazing! His creativity blew my mind! From capturing the most beautiful pictures with the reflections, the sun light, the moon light to people's expressions with those special candid moments. He was able to get the perfect shot for everything I could have ever asked for! Right from the very start all the way up until the very last picture he took, Michael showed professionalism and true talent. He is passionate about his work and it shows. I had been in a wedding 9 months before my own and that is when I met Michael. He is an amazing high energy person and an incredible photographer. His pictures are truly breathtaking. His eye for detail and the moments he captures is something that you can't put a price on. He says he has been taking wedding pictures for over a century ....hard to believe because his love for what he does Is so apparent and you feel his passion . My husband and I met with numerous photographers before we picked Michael to photograph our special day. We could not have been happier with our choice. Michael Skerry, Derby Studios, is an amazing photographer. He is very funny and got every laughing. The wedding party enjoyed him and was surprised he was never anoying. He was everywhere and fast enough that we could get back to the party. He is very easy to talk to and listened to our requests. He took many out of the box photos, which is what we were looking for. We had a photographer for our engagement and he kept asking us what we wanted and had no creative ideas of his own. Michael's black & white photos are beautiful. Michael has the most incredible passion for his craft! Having him as our photographer we feel as though we are getting double what we paid purely because of his passion and desire for that perfect shot!

Mike Skerry of Derby Studios ended up being a great choice for photographer. We were at first undecided about hiring him due to price, but we followed our gut and met with him, saw his work, read reviews and hired him.

He knew that we were running behind schedule and that I (bride) was starting to have a small meltdown because preparations didn't seem to be going well (everything ended up going smoothly) so he worked quickly. He and his assistant had high energy despite it being a very hot and humid day. Great with the kids, getting them to look at the camera and smile.

Very efficient in their direction and getting the various groups together for the formal photos. They were also there from before the ceremony, through to the end of the reception getting candids. We haven't actually seen our photos yet (it's only been a few days) but based on his portfolio I have plenty of confidence that the photos will be great.

It was great working with Mike for our wedding. Not only were our pictures beautiful, but Mike was a blast to work with. Our family and friends still talk about Mike and what a fun photographer was. He was able to make everyone laugh and feel comfortable all while taking beautiful photographs. I also liked the fact that he was so efficient. It didn't feel like we spent our whole wedding taking pictures. For his talent and professionalism, he truly is a steal.

Michael was so great, he had an unreal amount of energy and was sooooo focused on getting the BEST possible shots. He was great at getting everyone to laugh (one of the groomsmen even started crying he was laughing so hard at one point).....Michael is passionate about creating beautiful pictures, and will go out of his way to find the best and most interesting spots for pictures - the pictures he took of my wife and i out front of the hotel just as it was getting dark were absolutely amazing!! i would highly recommend him!!
