Amazing Wedding Cake!

I didn't know exactly what I wanted when I met with Darlene but after speaking with her she figured out the perfect cake for us. I got so many comments from the guests on the cake. It was absolutely a dream cake. I highly recommend using Darlene's Specialty Cakes!

Just Right!

We were looking for a cake for our daughters Sweet 16 party and sampled cupcakes from several different bakeries. Some cakes were too dry, or too sweet, or just way too expensive. Darlene’s cake was perfect, amazing flavor, fabulous price, and an awesome flexible person to work with!

I found Darlene on line when I was looking for someone to do a very special birthday cake with a goose hunting theme. I shared my ideas with her and the end result was amazing! Big hit with the crowd for sure.

Darlene provided the wedding cake and cupcakes for my son and daughter-in-law's wedding earlier this month. To say it was perfect would be an understatement! Darlene provided exactly what the bride wanted and everybody raved at the flavors of the cake/cupcakes (we had three different flavor cupcakes) and at how beautifully put together it was. In fact, one person commented that it was the best they had ever had (and, I must agree!)! Thank you, Darlene, for making a special day even more special!

Darlene was great to work with. From the initial contact to the tasting to the delivery and set up of the cake, Darlene was totally professional and efficient and fun to work with. The cake was lovely even though she had to bring it on a 100 + degree day. She artfully arranged the flowers I brought and the whole look was beautiful. The cake was delicious. We had two flavors, and they were equally good. I highly recommend her.

Darlene's cake are delicious! I received so many compliments on my traditional vanilla on vanilla cake. I know it sounds boring but trust me it was delicious...just a hint of Almond paste, very classic. We were initially going to go with something more exotic but when we tasted the vanilla there was no turning back, The cake was moist and the buttercream frosting was just right, not too sweet not to plain. The cherry on the sundae was the price! I comparison shopped and Darlene's was by far the best value. Thanks Darlene!

I live in CA and was having my sons first birthday in Manassas VA so I googled a few places for custom cakes I was not in pressed some didn't even respond. I found Darlenes Specialty Cakes and I'm so glad I did I can't express how happy I am she responded to my emails promptly and the cake was exactly what I had pictured, it was beautiful and it tasted amazing I hope to use her again for future birthdays!

The free tasting Darlene provides is very helpful in selecting the cake and icing flavors. Her prices are reasonable. She was always available to answer questions about the cake, the decorations, and the delivery! I didn't get to see the cake until I entered our wedding reception. It was done exactly how I imagined! Most delicious cake ever! We will definitely use Darlene again for our special occasion cakes.

Darlene has been a pleasure to work with so far! She has been very easy to get a hold of, and though my fiance is doing most of the cake planning, he has all nice things to say! She worked with us, looking at pictures, to create the cake of our Pinterest wedding dreams! The cake options we selected sound amazing, and I can't wait to see and eat it!

Darlene is the best! Ever since I requested pricing on the wedding wire to get more information, Darlene has been so efficient, very responsive and very very flexible!! I can't tell you how many times I kept shooting new ideas to her and switching up the size of the cake and she was always was so flexible and very helpful. And of course her cake was very delicious. The wedding cake turned out so beautifully I couldn't have dreamed of a more perfect wedding cake. Oh and she was very reasonable with pricing and getting you the most for your money :)

Delicious, delicious, delicious... did we mention delicious?

The cake was as delicious as it was beautiful. We had a five-tier cake (for 200 people) with four flavors. Our guests have not stopped complementing on how scrumptious it was. We chose a chocolate w/raspberry preserve, chocolate/chocolate ganache, pineapple cococunt, and an almond layer. Darlene was very open to our suggestions and treated us with professionalism and enthusiasm for cake. It was the perfect ending to our wedding and we're still enjoying the last remaining pieces!

Darlene and her cakes are amazing!!!! She did the cake for my younger sister's wedding, so it was an easy choice to have her handle my wedding cake. Not only was it DELICIOUS, but it was also absolutely GORGEOUS!!!!! I received SO many compliments on it. Darlene was so easy to work with and so reliable and affordable to top it off, I definitely recommend her if you're looking for the perfect wedding cake!!! (or a cake for any other special occasion for that matter!)

Darlene is absolutely fantastic! She met with us and our family to taste all of the cake options and discuss the designs we wanted. She also is very reasonably priced when compared to other bakers. It was an absolute no-brainer going with Darlene. The cake was delivered on-time, was beautiful, and was absolutely delicious! We also had a Bengals themed groom's cake which was adorable as well. We highly recommend Darlene!!!

When we got married, we wanted to support our local businesses. We found Darlene's name on Wedding Wire and liked what we saw. When I met Darlene, I thought she was a very pleasant person with a passion for her cakes. We went with the Strawberry with Strawberry cake and it was absolutely fabulous!!! We can't say enough about how good it was and everyone at the wedding loved it as well. It was also beautiful AND tasted great! What more could you want?

I had a chocolate wedding cake with chocolate fudge filling and white buttercream on the outside. I am not a fan of buttercream but she makes her own and it is pretty good. I told her that I want it thick enough so people don't know that it is a chocolate cake and it was. Also I showed her I wanted a specific design which is pretty complex, it won an award over in Britain and the cake that won cost $7,000. I asked her is she thought she could do it and she did. I had a few changes. So the design was flowers draping down from the top like moss, and then each layer was like a scene of a field with flowers and grass and at the bottom would be a cat and bunny. This is made out of all buttercream using our color of turquoise/teal. She made the buttercream look like it was made out of fondant, which I have never seen before. In addition, she added numbers to some of the flower's leaves in a super elegant way and when I told my friends about the numbers they all said it would be tacky but it wasn't (inside joke with my husband in how we met-auditing class). She did an amazing job. Everything was lovely and delicious. Everybody said they have never had a chocolate cake that tasted this good. So I got the design of a $7k cake for much much less. Everything was perfect. I wish I could post a picture of it now to show you. She is extremely accommodating in setting up an appointment. When I called her I only had one weekend open to meet her and she re-arranged her schedule to meet me and do a cake testing. I was having major surgery so it had to be that day and she did it. She is a very nice person and also very talented. I highly recommend her. She also offers you a free anniversary cake. I bought a cake for 140 people.

Darlene made my wedding cake, which was on Valentine's Day. I already had a 3 tiered design picked out with wine glasses holding up the top tier. It was unique, but very simple. Darlene was able to replicate it perfectly and everyone loved it. Darlene's efforts definitely showed. We went with the strawberry and vanilla cake with strawberry preserves and bavarian creme and both were simply delicious. The buttercream frosting complimented the cake very well. We had some leftover and it was still great days later. I would highly recommend Darlene for your wedding cake. She is very talented and the cakes taste great!

My mom found Darlene on Wedding Wire, and I'm so glad she did! Darlene was extremely professional, her cake was AMAZING, and her price is right. We didn't want to spend a fortune on a cake, but we still wanted something good. Darlene was just the person. She was totally reasonable with her price, and the cake looked and tasted great. We couldn't have been happier! I would recommend her to anyone looking for a delicious yet affordable wedding cake.

My husband and I were very happy with the cake Darlene made for our wedding. We had a three-tier cake with butter cream frosting. We liked that we were able to pick different flavors for each level, and the frosting was great. Darlene also makes you a new cake for your one-year anniversary so you don't have to keep the top tier in your freezer. Darlene was professional and responsive throughout the entire process.

Darlene made our wedding cake and cupcakes for our wedding this weekend and they were amazing. She met with us beforehand to let us try flavors and coordinated the tiered display with our wedding colors to make it unique and personalized for our special day. We had four different flavors and every one was absolutely delicious. It also allowed each guest to have a perfect sized dessert and the variety of flavors let us make sure that thee would be something everyone liked. We absolutely love that we get a one year anniversary cake so that we were able to enjoy and eat he wedding cake Saturday without worrying about saving any. We would definitely choose Darlene again for special occasion cake needs!

Darlene did a wonderful job and the cake turned out beautiful and delicious! There was a lot of communication up to the day and she took my wish list for my special purple & bling themed wedding cake and made it come true. Needless to say the cake was devoured and everyone loved it.

We had 3 different layers with different flavors and a raspberry filling in the top layer. What is even better is that we hava a complimentary 1 year anniversary cake coming next year on our anniversary, so we didn't have to save/freeze any of our cake.

Definitely the best for specialty cakes anywhere.

Darlene is really easy to work with and her prices are very reasonable. On top of that, the cake is delicious and beautiful. Everyone at my party raved about the wedding cake. We had 3 different layers with 3 different flavors and a raspberry filling. What is even better is that she will give us a complimentary 1 year anniversary cake on our anniversary so we didn't have to save/freeze any of our cake. We can't wait to eat that cake :). I've already ordered another cake for a baby shower I am throwing for my friend.

Darlene did an AMAZING job on our wedding cake and a special grooms cake for my husband. Unlike many of the other wedding cake vendors we met with during the planning process, Darlene prepared huge cupcakes for us to try during our tasting, which is nice because we actually got a real feel for how the cake tasted. She was welcoming and so friendly that we didn't even get 10 minutes down the road before we emailed her back and booked her! Up until the wedding day, she was extremely responsive with any questions we had. When I had the idea to get my husband a Dallas Cowboys grooms cake, she provided ideas and suggestions. On the wedding day, I was overwhelmed with not only how good the cake tasted but how well the wedding cake looked to the picture I provided during our tasting. Our guest raved on (and are still raving) on how good the cake tasted! Darlene is exceptional and so glad we chose her to be apart of our vendor team!

I had a spring wedding and the style was rustic/vintage. Darlene exceeded my expectations with the perfect cake for my special day. The cake was very moist and everyone at the wedding was talking about how delicious it was.

Darlene was great to work with and very professional! She offers a large variety of flavors which are all very tasty!! I would definitely recommend her to my friends and family and plan on using her for my cake needs in the future!!

Darlene was extremely helpful and easy to work with. My fiance and I had little idea of what type of cake we wanted, so being able to try many different selections in cupcake form was very beneficial. Darlene was patient and gladly answered questions and provided suggestions where needed. She was respectful of our budget, and flexible and accommodating to our schedule. All of the guests at our wedding raved about the cake. My only complaint was that I didn't get to enjoy more of the cake on our big day :). Overall, Darlene met all of our needs and exceeded all of our expectations. We highly recommend her to anyone getting married in the DMV area.

Darlene definitely went beyond my expectations and made us a wonderful cake. Everything from the design to the taste was Amazing. All my friends that are getting married asked for her info for their wedding as well. She was able to do things for my cake other bakers would not do. She is very reasonable in price. Was exactly what we were looking for. I would recommend her to anyone!!!

Darlene is a great cake vendor! Her crafty skills is beyond amazing! I have received many compliments about my cake from how beautiful to how delicious it was!! I have used Darlene before for a birthday cake, and she absolutely has a talent/gift in providing quality cakes. Her prices are very reasonable, and she is willing to work with you. I was able to get 3 different flavors on each tier for no additional cost and 2 dietary specialty cakes for just a bit more. I was so impressed with how much of a deposit was needed compared to other cake vendors wanting half down. You will not be disappointed with Darlene! She is here to make your cake the way you want it just like how mine was exactly what I asked for! Thanks so much Darlene!

As soon as we did our tasting with Darlene, we knew we wanted to book her right away! She made us little cupcakes in the flavors we wanted to try - sooo good. We were tempted to ask her to just make cupcakes, but we wanted to stay traditional and have a wedding cake. Darlene's cake was FABULOUS! We didn't want the traditional chocolate, lemon, or white cake - we ended uphaving three different layers in our cake - pumpkin spice, orange w/grand marnier, and strawberry with white chocolate filling (with REAL strawberries!!). All of our guests raved about the cake. My only disappointment was that I didn't get a chance to try the pumpkin spice at our wedding :-( But she makes a fresh "anniversary cake" - that way you don't have to freeze your top tier and hope it's still good a year later, so hopefully we'll be able to request the pumpkin spice again. I've already recommended her to a friend of mine getting married next year :-) Thanks Darlene!!

We loved our wedding cake from Darlene's Specialty Cakes and had so many compliments from our guests! Darlene captured the specific look that we wanted and we couldn't be more pleased with the cake. My wedding cake from Darlene was amazing!!! I received so many compliments on how beautiful it was (it really was amazingly beautiful) and how delicious it was. Everyone talked about how good our cake tasted and it really was to die for. I actually have never been to a wedding where I've liked the wedding cake besides my wedding.

My husband and I visited Darlene at her house for our first tasting and she made us huge cupcakes to try. They were so moist and the flavors were wonderful. She gave us suggestions for flavors and for the look of the wedding and really listened to our thoughts and opinions. She made us feel right at home and I really felt as though she had a vested interest in making our cake special. My husband and I visited a couple of other places and nothing compared to Darlene's cakes. Her cakes were so much better than anywhere else.

Darlene was so wonderful to work with and is so incredibly sweet. On our wedding day, she arrived early to make sure our cake looked wonderful. She used some fresh flowers that our florist brought along to incorporate the look into the rest of our wedding.

Darlene is very quick in responding to emails and questions and she is so easy going and so helpful with all the questions I asked. Her suggestions for design were very helpful and I completely trusted that she would make a beautiful cake and I definitely was not disappointed.

Darlene's cake was delicious!! We loved the flavors and got so many compliments from all of our guests on each one. We were so happy that she made the cake equally beautiful on the outside -- especially since she was flexible to accommodate a late change we requested.

Every tier of the cake tasted delicious, just as we were sure they would. Also, it was beautiful, very much what we'd asked for and counted on. It was delivered and set up in plenty of time and everything about this association was very professional.

Also, Darlene gives amazing, free cake tastings as well.

Darlene is very sweet, just like her cakes! All of our guests, but most importantly my husband and I, loved the cake. It was beautiful and delicious! I had a lot of different wedding issues - time crunch, budget, etc. - but Darlene was patient and accommodating with everything. She will answer your calls, emails, requests very quickly. She made the process, amongst all the other crazy wedding plans going on, easy and comfortable.

My wedding cake had red velvet (husband's choice), orange and grand marnier, and lemon with raspberry - each of them were very different from each other, but all of them absolutely delicious - because all leftovers were finished in a matter of days.

We were soooo lucky to find Darlene!! We went to her house for the tasting, where she prepared cupcakes for us in a bunch of different flavors that we were considering, and some others she thought we might want to try! They were all so delicious! We ended up picking 3 different flavors, one for each tier of the cake. She was super accomodating and helpful to figure out what would work best!
She helped us come up with a design that would fit our theme and it turned out beautifully! I may have been a little emotional that day to begin with but when I saw the cake, I teared up. It was ust like I wanted- simple and texturized for our rustic wedding.
Not only was the cake delicious and pretty, but it was also very affordable and she worked with us to stay in budget! My now husband doesn't like cake all that much, but a.) we found a flavor he did like!! and b.) we didn't want to spend an outrageous amount on something that wasn't a top priority for him. The price was just right for a beautiful wedding cake!! :)

Thanks Darlene for everything!! You helped make our wedding extra special. And we look forward to our anniversary cake! Can't wait to try it again :)

We had a double wedding for our daughters and Darlene met all of our expectations. She let all 4 (2 brides and 2 grooms) choose their own flavors and put them in two cakes. She answered all of my email questions within the day and most of the time right after I sent the email. All of our guest loved the cakes. They wished they could have tried all of the flavors. We were impressed and would definitely call on her again for a special occasion.

I was so happy to find Darlene and even more excited to have her make our wedding cake!! When we first met with Darlene, she prepared beautiful gourmet cupcakes for us to taste and try when we were picking our cake flavors. We went with traditional white cake and also chocolate cake, but Darlene also prepared a mocha espresso flavored cake and buttercream for us to try. All were fantastic, but the mocha espresso blew us away!

On the day of our wedding, we were so looking forward to seeing and eating the cake! So were our friends and family, since we had RAVED about the cake since the tasting appointment! It did not disappoint - the cake was so moist and flavorful, and absolutely stunning in it's presentation. It looked exactly how I had pictured our cake to look - elegant, understated, and classic.

The guests still are talking about the cake, and we actually are still enjoying some leftovers after we've returned from out honeymoon. We brought it to the brunch after the wedding too and people were still eating it up!

In addition to our wedding cake, Darlene also designed and made a surprise grooms cake for the rehearsal dinner. My husband is a big time outdoorsman, and the camouflage cake with a deer head topper was the perfect thing for him! It was a chocolate cake with peanut butter filling - his favorite - and of course it tasted divine.

Thanks again to Darlene for making our special day so "sweet!" I highly recommend you get your cake from her - you won't be disappointed!

I was so lost when looking for a cake vendor AND choosing a cake. I was recommended to Darlene's Specialty Cakes and she did a great job. Putting a wedding together is not easy, especially trying to figure out the cake for 100 people. I had a fall wedding theme and wanted something different. I came up with a Pumpkin Spice cake. I called several places and no one even wanted to do this cake, then I called Darlene. Darlene went out of her way to find a recipe and then the Pumpkin, which was not in season yet, and did a wonderful tasting for my Husband and I. We ended up going with the bottom layer a Vanilla cake and the top two layers Pumpkin Spice. The cake was amazing. All our guests loved the cake...we had no left over pumpkin spice, it was a huge hit.

Darlene was easy to work with and made some great suggestions. Her pricing can not be beat. If you are looking for a wedding cake caterer STOP and look no farther. You have her here in Darlene's Specialty Cakes. THANK YOU DARLENE!!!

Darlene is spectacular! I designed a cake for my daughter's wedding and was looking for someone to make it. I spoke to her on the phone and faxed her the design. She told me she would love to make the cake. Not only did she bring the design to fruition, but the cake was so fresh and delicious! Take a look at the cake on her website. It is the one with the roses and man's tux. Everyone thought it was beautiful as well as just a great tasting cake. She was professional from start to finish. Darlene is amazing to work with. From the day I met her she has been very professional and flexible. I gave her an idea about the type of cake I wanted and she made it happen. I wanted to have a unique flavor on each tear: carrot, yellow, chocolate, red velvet and she made it happen. She had all the 4 flavors for the tasting and I loved it. On my wedding day she delivered the cake on time, did set up the cake and everybody loved the way it looked on the table. When I came into the room I was very amazed with the work she did. My cake matched the color theme of my wedding and having four different flavors just made the whole thing fun and interesting. My husband and I had carrot and chocolate cake and the taste was amazing.
She was also very supportive and I enjoyed talking to her.
She is very professional and flexible. She answers emails on time and she took time to remind me when the paiements were due. At the end she even offered to send me a wedding cake on my one year anniversary!
Could not find a better place to have my wedding cake.

I'm not just saying this because it was my wedding, but the cake Darlene made for us was byfar the best wedding cake I've ever tasted. I've gotten so many compliments on the strawberry cake with white chocolate buttercream that we chose!

For our tasting, Darlene asked us to pick a few different flavors, and she made individual cupcakes of different flavor combinations so we could try more of them. After hiring her, she was very responsive and decorated the cake to match our wedding invitations. I knew it would taste delicious, but it also looked great.

My husband and I planned a very small, intimate gathering of friends after our civil ceremony. Unknown to the other we had both ordered a wedding cake as a surprise for the celebration. Unquestioningly Darlene's cake was far superior to the other, "professional" cake done by a local bakery. So much so that while the other cake leftovers were thrown out, Darlene's was moist and delicious the entire week after our wedding when we finally finished off the last crumb. We are in agreement that we will ask her to make another, smaller one for us to celebrate our first anniversary!

"A Perfect 10"! Darlene, from Darlene's Speciality Cakes created a beautiful, moist and tasty, "Autumn Themed" cake for my wedding on October 16, 2010. Darlene took my autumn theme and created a cake that was absolutely exquisite and delicious. When my husband and I first met Darlene and went for our Cake Tasting appointment, we were simply amazed at her overall presentation, listening to her stories of baking in her kitchen, and how passionate she is in wanting to create wonderful cakes that taste just like it came from your family's kitchen. When we arrived to her site, we both felt right at home and comfortable. After my husband and I tasted the sample cakes that she provided, we were speechless at how the Yellow Cake with Butter Creame icing made our mouth's water. The cake reminded me of when I was growing up and watching my grandmother bake and waiting so anxiously to have the opportunity to take some icing from the bowl with my finger. The Butter Creame icing was delicious. After the cake tasting, the samples that Darlene baked for us, we were able to take home and share with family and friends.

Darlene was a joy to work with. She was highly professional, responsive, has a lovely personality, and provided creative suggestions that she thought would make our cake extra special. My husband and I were really very happy with our cake. Traditionally, the bride and groom are to cut a slice of cake together during the "Cake Tasting" time during the reception and give each other a little bit of the same piece of cake. My husband and I did not do that, we both cut separate pieces to have our own, so that we could really have a good tasting of the cake and I must say we were extremely happy. That's how you know a cake is delicious.

When the wedding was over and members of the Bridal Party were gathering items to depart, some noticed that there was a little cake left over for myself and my husband. Since we all still had a little sweet tooth, I opened the nice package that was prepared for us with cake to take home and myself and the Bridal Party decided to have more cake.

Darlene, so happy to have met you on Wedding Wire and I am looking forward to working with you again. The cake was great! 2 Thumbs Up!

As a wedding present, my Aunt Darlene asked if she could make our wedding cake. With out any hesitation my fiancé and I said YES! We gave her a picture of what we were looking for, along with a few specific requests and she delivered above and beyond our expectations!!!!

We both DID NOT want fondant (it tastes horrible and we really wanted everyone to enjoy it) and, over all, wanted something simple. I am not exaggerating when I say EVERYONE thoroughly enjoyed the cake. All the guests kept talking about it, even after the wedding. A few of our friends, who were getting married after us, requested my Aunt Darlene to do their cake after trying ours.

Our wedding was September 20th, 2009, and to this day friends are getting engaged and are requesting my Aunt make their wedding cake!! Clearly, Darlene's cake making abilities has left a long lasting impression!

Thank you soooo very much Aunt Darlene for adding your special touch to our wedding and giving us a wedding cake we will NEVER forget! Steve and I COULD NOT have asked for a more perfect cake!!!! We still talk about it to this day and always mention you to others planning their wedding!

Outside of everyone wanting to see the bride in her dress, guests are just as excited to see and taste the wedding cake. Once we saw all of the beautiful pictures of the cakes that Darlene had done we knew we had selected the right person to do my daughters wedding cake. From meeting with Darlene to the delivery of the cake, everything was perfect. The cake was beautiful and tasted even better. We had many many compliments about the cake and several people have or are going to use Darlene for the special event. For the record we also had Darlene make the bridal shower cake, which was just awesome!!! I would highly recommend "Darlene Speciality Cakes" for any event that you may need a cake for.

Darlene was a pleasure to work with from beginning to end! At our tasting, she provided many giant cupcakes in a variety of flavors (some gluten-free for my husband). They were all delicious and she seemed knowledgeable and passionate about what she does, so we decided to hire her for our wedding cake.

We requested a simple cake design and left a bundle of fake flower stems and a pair of scissors on the table for when she arrived on the day of the wedding. It seemed like a tall order to decorate on the fly, but the cake came out just as I imagined. And, despite opting to have the entire cake made gluten free (rather than just one of the tiers), it was still delicious and nobody knew the difference ;)

Darlene made the cake for my wedding. It was beautiful and delicious. We had a different flavor on each tier and everyone loved it so much there was nothing left my the end of the night. I provided a photo of the design I wanted and Darlene was able to capture what I was looking for. The tasting was great. She provided a bunch of cake flavors, fillings and toppings. They were all delicious and we were stuffed by the end of it. After my rsvps were in I had to reduce the size of the cake. Darlene was very amenable to making the change. I would definitely recommend her for a wedding or event. Oh, and she offers a complementary top cake tier for your anniversary a year from your event, so you don't have to eat frozen cake for your anniversary. ??

Darlene's cakes were delicious! She was easy to work with and could accommodate pretty much any flavor I came up with. I would definitely recommend her!

Darlene welcomed us into her home for a taste testing. Unlike others that served us frozen/microwaved samples, she freshly prepared our samples. The "samples" were whole sized jumbo cupcakes, which helped us get a good feel for what a big bite of her cake would taste like, unlike others that provided samples the size of thin mints.

We both knew right away that Darlene made the best tasting cake. Every sample we tasted was incredible. I could not stop eating them! We sampled: Carrot cake, spice, chocolate, mandarin orange, strawberry and almond. For our 3 tier cake, we decided on mandarin orange bottom layer, strawberry with filling middle layer and almond top layer. The frosting was buttercream. We also got 12 chocolate cupcakes with white chocolate frosting/rasberry filling for the kids. The cool thing about ordering from Darlene is that you don't have to save/preserve your top layer of the cake for your 1 year anniversary, she gives you a complimentary top layer (fresh) at your 1 year anniversary! We are really looking forward to that!

All 3 layers were popular at the wedding, but by far, the strawberry layer was crushed immediately. Darlene told us that our cake was capable of serving 80 guests, and she was not kidding. We had about half the bottom layer and top layer as leftovers- yet all of our 65 guests had a slice, and some had seconds (I had thirds). I liked the taste of all 3 layers. The mandarin orange was a great, refreshing flavor for hot/humid June because we didn't want to pick too heavy or sweet of a flavor that would make everybody sick in the heat. The strawberry was incredible, by far my favorite. The almond layer was probably the "heaviest" of our cake, but the thing I liked was that it tasted basically like Good Humor Toasted Almond bars. It was really good. We finished off that layer the next day at a family BBQ.

Darlene responded to our never ending changes to the cake with professionalism. She gave us reminders about our payments, which was helpful with everything else going on distracting us. Darlene had our cake delivered hours before the wedding, and it looked incredible-- it had a safe journey from her house to our venue, which was about 25 miles away. The taste was great, just like her samples, and the temperate of the cake was perfect, as well. You will not be disappointed with a cake from Darlene's Specialty Cakes.
