Perfection

I couldn't be happier in my decision to buy a dress at Dame Couture. I cannot thank Daniela enough for helping me in the dress selection and more importantly with the fittings. My dress and belt were beyond perfect. She is incredible at what she does and it was a pleasure to work with her.

Dresses as unique as you are

After visiting dozens of bridal shops I finally came across Dame Couture and met Daniela who was able to meet with me and create the perfect dress for my style, theme and detailing. I came in with interest for a tea length dress and she was able to design and alter a gorgeous dress that surpassed my expectations. She was a pleasure to work with and her shop is a wonderful intimate place where she gives you her full attention to make sure you leave with the dress of your dreams. She even created a pocket that allowed me to access my diabetic insulin pump so my blood sugars were just on point as my dress. I highly recommend Dame Couture if you are searching for a unique dress to fit your unique style while working with extreme talent, patience, consideration, attention to detail all in a place that makes you feel comfortable and confident that you have finally found the right place to make your dream happen.

Great place for unique dresses!

If you’re looking for a dress in the Chicago area, I highly recommend Daniela at Dame Couture! We visited about 5 stores, mostly downtown, and we all agreed we had by far the best experience at Dame. It’s a small, independent store so you’re group will have the place to yourself and one on one attention which makes it a more relaxed and enjoyable experience compared to some of the larger stores downtown. The dress selection is great (I ended up choosing a dress from the Truvelle line) and Daniela is very sweet and fun to work with. She made it a super comfortable process. Highly recommend!

I met Daniela at a bridal show and knew I would be visiting her store as soon as I saw how professional and personable she was! She made a custom veil that complemented my gown perfectly. My whole wedding incorporated twists on the traditional elements, so I wanted my veil to match that, and she listened to my idea and turned it into the best version it could be! She is truly an expert seamstress and values her brides' dreams for their wedding day look.

Daniela is phenomenal to be honest when I picked up my dress for the last time I hugged her twice she went ABOVE AND BEYOND. To help me with my dress.
I was looking for a plus size wedding dress and she absolutely made my dream dress come true. She custom made the top of my dress to fit me better!
Her jewelry and head pieces are phenomenal I received so many compliments on my dress and headpiece.

Daniela should absolutely be trusted to take care of your dress her style and taste is amazing.

Daniela and Dame Couture were my wedding guardian angels. I initially met Daniela when I first started shopping for my dress. She was kind and wonderful to work with, and even though she had a beautiful selection, I left without purchasing anything.

Fast-forward a few months to when my final dress fitting (a non-Dame dress) went awry. Panicked, we immediately thought of Daniela, and my mom made a call. We were at Dame’s new location within an hour and I was trying on dresses for my wedding which was only 3 weeks away. Not only did I fall in love with a dress, but Daniela sold it off the rack and had it perfectly altered within 48 hours. Even though I was in panic mode, she could not have been more comforting. And even though it was a quick alteration job, her work was absolute perfection.

I highly recommend Dame to any bride in search of the perfect dress. Daniela runs a beautiful shop, and she truly cares about helping her brides find something special. Daniela – thank you so, so much for everything you did for me!

Dame Couture is a fantastic place for finding a wedding dress and/or getting alterations. Daniela is kind, warm, and had a great eye. The dresses in the shop are beautiful. I actually found the shop when looking for a wedding dress. In the end I found a skirt that I loved, bought two of them, and had Daniela design and create a top from the second skirt to form a dress. We partnered to figure out the shape of the top and then I would stop by a few times through the process to try a makeshift top (to see if we liked the shape) and then all the way to the finished product. The entire process was so easy and my dress ended up being exactly what I wanted. I appreciate Daniela's beautiful work and her thoughtfulness. Partnering with her was a wonderful experience and I so appreciate her skills and store. She is worth your time visiting in Addison, as you will not be disappointed with your experience there!

I wish I could give more than 5 stars in all categories! I can not express how happy I was to work with Daniela. I purchased my gown in New York, but was getting married in Evanston, IL. I choose to go to Dame Couture because they carried the same designer that made my dress. My dress was made out of silk charmeuse, which is not easy to work with. She was so good about making sure everything fit perfectly and making me feel good in my dress. After what was slated to be my final fitting, we discovered that part of the dress was puckering, so she took it back opened up the seam and fixed it. Her prices were so reasonable and she was willing to accommodate my travel schedule. I loved working with her!

I can’t say enough about how great of an experience I had working with Dani at Dame Couture. I came in not quite sure what style dress I was looking for. Dani helped me select a variety of dresses and seemed to instinctively know what my style was! She really took the time to learn about our wedding day and was so fun and sweet to work with! My experience dress shopping at Dame felt both personal and enjoyable! On top of having a variety of unique and gorgeous dresses, I felt so confident in Dame Couture handling alterations for me as well. Such a wonderful store and a great fit for anyone looking for a really special and personal experience!

I got Truvelle's Carolina dress from Dame Couture for my July 2017 wedding. I had the pleasure of working with both Holly (the previous owner) and Dani (the current owner). Although Holly and her shop in Evanston were wonderful, I'll focus on Dani and her shop in Addison.

I liked Dani the instant I met her. She is not only a talented seamstress and designer, but she's SO sweet and professional. I couldn't have been happier with her alterations/adjustments and additions (we added a decorative belt to my dress, which was the perfect touch).

The store is pretty, hip, clean, and spacious. Dame carries several designers and has some really unique dresses. My wedding guests were RAVING about my dress and how they'd never seen anything like it.

If you want a great selection as well as great service, Dame Couture is the place to go!!!

When I went looking for a wedding dress I didn't mess around -- I went to numerous stores and tried on tons of different dresses. The place that I kept coming back to was Dame Couture. I stalked Holly at an indie bridal fair and then visited a number of times before finding a dress there. Working with Holly was the best part of planning my wedding. She has great, unique designs, her shop is welcoming and she is a super professional - absolutely awesome to work with. She ended up creating a custom lace top -- and little jacket! -- to go with a skirt I like from one of the designers she carried. I was in her shop a bunch for fittings and she was patient and professional each and every time. I can't say enough good things about working with her -- Dame Couture is really a special place that takes great pride and care in the work they do.

I love, love, love Holly! The minute I walked in the door I felt welcomed and comfortable. I brought in my great grandmother's dress from 1940, and Holly took such good care of it. She knew how to work with the material and she gave me great tips for how to continue care for the dress. She completely redid the sleeves of the dress, and she let me choose the style, and made sure that her suggestions didn't make me feel pressured. Thank you for an amazing dress, and helping me feel beautiful and connected to my great-grandma on my wedding day!

I have NOTHING but praise to say! I visited several shops, both large and small. Holly's was the only location that had quality, variety and sizing.
I selected a difficult dress that needed to be shipped out more than once due to designer issues that could not be foreseen.
Holly went above and beyond at every step to make sure I was happy and taken care of.
She made the journey to my wedding day absolutely amazing. I couldn't imagine shopping with anyone else!

Holly was an absolute joy to work with! She’s friendly and welcoming. Her shop is adorable, with a great selection of beautiful dresses at affordable prices (I was a bride with a modest budget!). She made the experience of wedding dress shopping fun and relaxed, never pressuring the sale or trying to upsell. She was always prompt in answering my emails and thoughtful in telling me about upcoming sales and trunk shows. I also love that her shop does private appointments – it felt special to have the whole shop to ourselves (I came with my sister, mom, and aunt for wedding dress shopping and fitting). I also thought the wedding dress styles she carried were better in uniqueness and quality than the other places I shopped (e.g., BHLDN, Alice in Ivory, etc.) In short, I would recommend Holly and Dame Couture to any friend or family member of mine. She was wonderful!

I came to Evanston from Detroit to try on the Truvelle line (and a very special dress). From the very beginning, Holly was helpful and gave wonderful feedback. Having never been married before, there's a lot to consider even with the dress that no one tells you! Holly was patient and answered all of my questions. I was nervous about the amount of alterations that I would need for the dress, but she assured me and delivered the most perfect and well-fitting dress I could imagine, even after I had to have some custom sizing. My mom and I travelled a lot back and forth last year and Holly graciously met us at the shop earlier than she would normally to accommodate our day trips in Chicago. I can't say enough wonderful things about the shop and the service. I wish I had an excuse to come back more often!

I had the best time working with Holly, from picking out the dress, to alterations, brainstorming on accessories, etc. I had endless compliments on my dress from all of my guests (and my dry cleaner!). Could not recommend Dame Couture more!!!

It is incredibly special to have a dress that is one of a kind, fit perfectly to your shape, with the details and styling that only you can choose. Holly is a wonderful designer and dressmaker who doesn't compromise on quality. She carries beautiful fabrics and has a collection of vintage dresses in her shop to help inspire your design. I was given the utmost in personalized attention and care while I was working with Holly and she was very compassionate to my requests and needs. Not to mention, the value of having a dress made was worth every penny and I was very satisfied with the cost, considering I did not have to go all around to shop, or try on multiple dresses. I had an idea of what I wanted and Holly helped me achieve that goal and far surpassed my expectations!

My sister in law's wedding dress was made by Holly and she is the one who recommended her. I'm so, so happy I listened.

I have already given multiple people Holly's information I've only been married a little over a month. I had a vision in my head of what i wanted the dress to look like and it was amazing to see it all come to life thanks to Holly. She's reasonably priced and although Dame is located in Evanston and I live in Chicago, every trip was worth it and I looked forward to every fitting.

My dress was the most beautiful thing I've ever worn.

Everyone at Dame Couture was phenomenal to work with! I'd known someone for whom Holly had made (what turned out to be her first commercial-) wedding dress many years ago. I'd saved an image of it, and despite seeing that the dresses on Dame Couture's current website were more traditional than I was looking for (though still unique and gorgeous!), I asked about whether she might consider helping me come up with a vintage-looking olive green wedding dress. The most common feedback I received on it: "Wow, is that vintage? It is SO YOU!" I couldn't have been happier. My only complaint is now that I'm married, I have no need to visit them. (It's a LOVELY shop.)

Had the best experience wedding dress shopping thanks to the lovely ladies of Dame Couture. Holly and Daniela took such great care of me not once but twice (after my dress was ruined by the dry cleaners) so happy I shopped small and local. The boutique is beautiful and had an amazing selection of gorgeous gowns. I lucked out and got a last minute appointment during a Rose and Delilah trunk show. If you haven't yet check them out! Found the dress and Holly worked her magic and had it hemmed and ready for me to pick up in 2.5 weeks! She even came in after hours so I could pick it up on my way to the airport. Elopement in Italy went off without a hitch! Couldn't have done it without the help from the Dames finding my perfect dress!

Loved working with Holly! When I came in from out of town to try on dresses, I felt I could really trust her advice and opinion. She honestly told me that her favorite dress on me was from another designer, even though I was also trying on some of her own designs. She was a pleasure to work with, not pushy, or trying to get me into a particular kind of dress. Great place to shop for indie brides who want something a little different, and don't want the overblown and stressful stereotypical dress shopping experience. Holly also gave me great advice on how to wear my dress the day of, an even gave me free sticky tape and showed me where to put it.

Without a doubt the BEST and EASIEST part of my entire wedding planning and experience!!! There were several hiccups (the wrong dress shipped by the designer) along the way that had nothing to do with Holly, but she expertly managed everything without a single issue. Holly is reassuring and a blessing for any bride to be!!! She gave me the BEST advice for hair and jewelry ... I looked exactly the way I wanted to on my special day. I wish I could attach a photo because I felt so beautiful that day. Every bride deserves that feeling!! Thank you Holly!!!

Holly is my Fairy Godmother. She created a custom wedding dress for me that was beyond my wildest dreams. It was the perfect dress. The process, from start to finish, was great -- Holly really listened to my vision and we worked together to create the dress. I trusted her completely and the final product was even better than I could have imagined.

The shop also won me over -- it is so beautiful and, because they only take one appointment at a time, you get the attention you really deserve when you're making such an important decision for your day. Both Holly and Daniela are highly knowledgeable and eager to help you find the perfect dress - be it a designer they carry in the store or a custom gown.

I can't recommend the Dame Couture team enough! Make an appointment today!

Holly is an amazing blend of professional & perfect third set of eyes who can get you to see perspectives a little different than your shopping companions'. She is kind while having her own opinions and makes you feel wholly comfortable. She was so accommodating while I was only in town for a few days with a very short window to find a dress. Finding Holly was the best thing that could have happened this real-sized, really-anxious bride. I big-time struggle with my weight and confidence and didn't know how I would feel on my wedding day. But wearing my custom dress from Dame Couture made me feel like a trillion-bucks. My husband about lost his mind when he saw me in my dress- and my friends said they've never seen another dress quite like it. Holly knows her stuff - both with her own designs and the amazing collection of designers (all small businesses!) in her shop. She WILL make you look amazing. She WILL make you feel relief and joy. You WILL find your dream dress within your budget. Your experience will be stress-free, fun, and the easiest part of your wedding planning. I personally guarantee it.

Holly was great to work with. She provided a personal experience and was very understanding of my budget and timing restrictions. Her studio is great and provides a personal and unique experience. I loved her selection; very unique when compared to the big retail spaces and makes it easier to shop if you are looking for a unique dress. Holly is a true gem in all ways. Her collections are truly unique - it took me forever to find a boutique like hers! She has several US made, high quality vendors that you won't find other places in Chicago. But the collection is just the start! Holly herself is an extremely talented seamstress, making her own beautiful ensembles or re-making vintage dresses if that's the direction you choose to go. The entire experience at the shop is lovely, and the emphasis is on personal attention as she only takes one Bride per appointment, so you have her undivided attention. She is professional, timely and informative throughout the process. And don't forget the unique accessories! She partners with talented veil designers and ensures your entire ensemble is good to go. I would highly recommend Holly and Dame Couture!

I was the bride that had been dreaming of my wedding dress since I was a little girl. So when I got proposed to I was ecstatic to find the dress of my dreams. I'd tried on 75+ dresses before going to Holly and nothing compared to the magic that was in store for me. In fact I was quoted saying that maybe I just wouldn't have the crying moment of finding my dress but... when I walked into Dame Couture I knew this was the place I would finally find THE DRESS! I found Dame Couture through yelp and saw all of its' wonderful reviews. So I scheduled the initial consultation appointment to have Holly (the owner) look at my wedding dress. I got married in October and wore my Mom's wedding dress which my Grandma made for her back in 1969. Mind you, my Mom is tiny and the dress is decades old and had been in a plastic bag for years. Holly and I met and we agreed on a vision for the dress. Holly drew up different sketches of dress ideas (I was so impressed!!). At the first fitting I finally decided on the sketch that I wanted. I say that because Holly did not rush me with anything. I could keep going on and on about how impressed I was of Holly's customer service!! A+++++ Also, her attention to detail is outstanding! My dress turned out so BEAUTIFUL! I was speechless!
Also, the shop has beautiful reworked dresses by Holly and beautiful accessories. The shop feels really cozy and welcoming. Also, Holly's assistant (sorry I can't remember her name) is really cool. Holly at Dame Couture could not have made a more perfect dress for my wedding day! I went shopping at the typical bridal salons, Weddings 826, Macy's, etc, but no one had what I was looking for or just didn't get my vision. I met with Holly and described what I was looking for. She had me try on a few samples she had and then we discussed fabrics and the shape of the gown and it all started coming together. It was so exciting to come in for each fitting to see the progress on the gown. Holly and her assistant worked endlessly to make my dress perfect. I could not have asked for a better wedding dress or wedding salon experience. I recommend Dame Couture to every bride, especially those with a unique vision for their dress and wedding day.

Holly of Dame Couture is amazing! Easily the one decision that I never, ever doubted. I was hoping for a vintage-inspired, tea-length dress that was gorgeous but still fun and lighthearted. I am an out of town bride and Holly was fabulous to work with. She was flexible with creating a dress just for my needs and built to fit my over 6 foot tall frame. Walking into Dame Couture was the best wedding decision I made! I was able to find the most perfect refurbished 1950's gown and Holly was amazing at every step of the way. She carefully worked on the dress to make it just to my vision (including adding a complicated black wedding belt to compliment my spooky Halloween theme). I looked forward to every fitting because she always made me feel so relaxed and beautiful. The dress looked amazing on and photographed even more magnificently. Holly and the "Dames" at Dame Couture designed a look for my wedding that was so unique and made me feel so special on my wedding day. From the first consultation with Gretchen, I knew I wanted to work with them to create my dream dress.

I was blown away that it was possible to have a couture dress made just for me right here in Chicagoland at a price comparable to the typical route of going through a bridal salon and ordering from a designer.

I had several appointments to leading up to the final fitting and each time they gave me their undivided attention and care. I couldn't have been happier with the outcome and I got SO many compliments on my beautiful dress.

Going to Dame Couture was one of the best decisions I made for my wedding. I had a specific silhouette in mind, and the Dames helped me find a gorgeous lace that was really one-of-a-kind. The gown helped make my day magical - the guests called it "divine" and "perfect". And I loved that I was putting my money towards a local business, and that my dress was being made by wonderful people. I also bought my veil and headpiece there; the Dames have great taste and helped me with the entire ensemble. The entire process was personal and fun.

Working with Holly and Megan at Dame Couture was great fun. I loved going to their beautiful store to try on dresses and their amazing selection of head pieces. I ended up making a non-traditional choice and decided upon a red satin gown. It was divine and fit me beautifully. I searched high and low for a dress that reflected my style, but every time I walked into a traditional bridal shop I was disappointed - not because the dresses were bad, but because I couldn't see myself in any of the gowns. I am not a big, poofy wedding gown girl. A friend mentioned that I should look into Dame Couture. I was not terribly impressed by the website (it doesn't do an ounce of justice to the shop's cozy, adorable atmosphere), but decided to give it a shot anyway. I was blown away. Not only do you get the saleswoman's complete attention (there is only one dressing room, so this is by appointment-only), but the dresses were perfect. The designs are unique, many are vintage-inspired and completely customize-able. There are samples to try on, and once you pick your gown they work with you to pick the fabrics and assemble your own couture dress. The prices range from $600-$2500 depending on what you want. The best part is that you can bring in your mother's old wedding gown and they can re-cut or incorporate it into your dress. Sometimes you can even snag a "one of a kind" dress (like mine!) - a vintage gown Dame found and re-designed to sell in the store. I can't recommend this store enough - every bride should go if only to see a shop that understands how to do it right.

The ladies at Dame Couture were a dream to work with. As a size 14/16 woman, I was having a difficult time finding a high quality dress that fit and flattered my figure without sacrificing style and fabric choice (and without spending an arm and a leg). After one meeting with DC, the search was over. They talked me through the process of deciding on all the details of the dress and delivered exactly what I wanted for my wedding day. They listened to my feedback and were able to make spur of the moment changes to my dress to make sure it was perfect. Also, I live in Virginia full time but have family in Chicago and they were able to accommodate my travel schedule for the consultation and fittings - even over holidays. I would absolutely not hesitate to recommend Dame Couture to anyone. For the cost of many of the designer gowns out there (or less, depending on the complexity of your desired design) you can end the stressful search for a wedding dress and get a custom made gown from a group of very talented and cool women. Side note: they also carry a great selection of veils, headpieces and fascinators - handmade by their in house milliner. I got mine from them and received no end of compliments on it.

I cannot say enough good things about Holly from Dame Couture! After going to what feels like a million dress shops I finally gave up. I went to Holly with a sketch of what I wanted and hoped she could make it. I was in tears the night I saw the final product. It was better than the idea I had in my head. She worked with my body type and also took into account my wedding style (i.e. I wanted to dance and needed a dress that would allow movement). That may sound like a small thing, but trust me, I've had friends that had their dream dress but were unable to dance or let alone breathe while sitting down. Every step of the way she was beyond helpful and was really good at listening to what I want. I have never been so happy with a dress in my life! If you know what you want or know that the other stores don't have it see Holly. She can really transform your wedding day into a fairytale!

I had such a great experience with Dame Couture. I was looking for someone who could make me a bolero that would match with my existing wedding dress and they did a fantatstic job. Everyone there was great to work with and the bolero turned out perfectly. I received so many compliments at the wedding and afterwards. A quick side note-Dame Couture's main focus is making custom wedding dresses and although I did not have them make my dress I was able to see some of their work and the dresses were gorgeous!

I am so lucky that Dame Couture was right in my neighborhood, but I would drive for hundreds of miles for the quality of the dress and service I received. I was not a typical bride...I honestly dreaded finding a dress. This was my second wedding, and I was having a hard time finding the right balance of elegance and simplicity that I wanted. I was also struggling with some health issues that made the whole idea of finding "the dress" daunting. I am SO glad I found Holly, Gretchen, and Megan. They were so much fun to work with - from narrowing down my ideas into a dress concept - all the way through the final fitting. I often brought a friend to be part of the process, but felt equally comfortable stopping in on my own for a fitting. The dress was exquisite, and working with Dame Couture turned something I dreaded into one of the highlights of our wedding planning.
