Picture Perfect Backyard Wedding
We worked with Kate from Cygnet Events for our wedding this past fall, and she was incredible from start to finish.
Our wedding wasn’t a simple setup either: it was a tented backyard wedding for ~180 people in a fairly remote area, which meant a lot more vendor coordination than a typical pre-packaged venue. Kate handled all of that seamlessly and made everything feel easy. She connected us with amazing vendors who were not only talented but genuinely good people, and she handled all the moving parts behind the scenes so we never felt stressed or overwhelmed. She was thoughtful, flexible, and patient with all of our ideas (and a few quirky requests such as our dog pulling a wagon down the aisle). She consistently went above and beyond by traveling repeatedly, hopping on calls whenever needed, and keeping everything on track while also always being conscious of our budget and advocating + negotiating on our behalf.
On the actual wedding day, she solved problems quietly, anticipated things before we even thought of them, and made our families feel at ease. The venue looked even better than we could have imagined, while still honoring the land and space that is so meaningful to both of us. The timeline also flowed seamlessly despite 1 or 2 surprises, and we were free to just be present for the whole day, which is ultimately the greatest gift a planner can give.
We’re so grateful for the care, thought, and heart she put into the entire process. Working with Kate was hands-down the best decision we made in the planning process. If you’re looking for someone who’s equal parts professional, calm, creative, and genuinely fun to work with, we can’t recommend her enough. -

Working with Kate/Cygnet as our month-of wedding coordinator was hands down one of the best decisions we made. From the moment she stepped in, she was absolutely CLUTCH; not only during the month leading up to the wedding but especially on the day itself. She kept everything organized, smoothed out all the little bumps before they even reached us, and gave us the peace of mind to actually enjoy the day instead of worrying about logistics.
My now-husband wasn’t even sure what coordinators did at first, but once we got on the phone with Kate and she built our entire timeline in front of us, he instantly understood the value she brought to the table and how much we would've stressed without her lol. That was the moment we knew we were in the best hands.
Kate has this perfect mix of calm professionalism and get-it-done energy that makes her feel both critical and irreplaceable. Our guests kept commenting on how seamless everything felt, and that’s entirely thanks to her. We truly couldn’t recommend her enough. If you’re on the fence about a coordinator, don’t be. I cannot even begin to say how perfect Kate. I am truly convinced she is THE BEST in the business. We did full planning with her and IT IS WORTH IT! Kate gave us vendors that were perfect and created our perfect wedding weekend. Every single aspect of our wedding was perfect and we have Kate to thank for it. There is nothing that we would have changed! We were able to enjoy our wedding because we didn't need to worry about a thing except for having fun! Kate managed everything and was so supportive. I cannot begin to say enough wonderful things about Cygnet Events and Kate Reavey. However, I will give it my best shot.
Kate's attention to detail, her professionalism, and her overall kind approach to all ideas and feelings are the reason our wedding happened and lead to numerous glowing reviews from our guests. Truly - every moment of our wedding received a compliment. Her work was so impressive and noticed.
She understood when I didn't want to pick just one color palate. She understood when I wanted our guests to have the tone set when they stepped into the room. She understood when I couldn't stare at a charger for 1 more minute. Also, and most importantly, she took the time to listen to me and understood what I was really loving and what I wasn't.
Through every moment of the wedding planning process, she met us with ideas and solutions. She brought our wedding to life through bright colors, an eclectic palate, fabulous rentals, and embraced my need for nothing matching.

We had the most incredible experience with Cygent Events! I was very on the fence on if I wanted to hire a day of coordinator because my wedding was all in one location. Hiring Cygnet Events and Designs was one of the easiest decisions we made for our wedding. They were featured at our venue for planning a stunning wedding which prompted my now-husband to reach out since we already booked our venue-the University Club of Chicago. Cygnet has done many weddings at the University Club which was helpful as we wanted an easy planning process. We worked with Kate Reavey who understood our vision from the start - she was able to describe our vision before we even knew how to describe it. Before my husband finished describing their first call, I was already sold! We did a partial planning package with Cygnet Events and Design and it really helped us enjoy the process knowing we were working with an industry expert who could guide us with recommended and trusted vendors that fit our budget.
Kate is outstanding at what she does - and it really led to the most perfect day of our lives. Our friends and family praised how smoothly our wedding went starting from the rehearsal she ran. She was able to help us with all the important details of our wedding that didn’t go unnoticed by our guests. We were grateful to have such an easy and enjoyable planning process with Cygnet Events and Designs and cannot recommend Kate and her team highly enough! -

Our time spent with Kate and Cynet was one of the most important aspect of our wedding. With her on our team, we didn’t have to worry about the vendors we chose, what the look of the wedding would be, if everyone would know where to be and when, and that everything day of would go seamlessly. Kate took so much stress and worry off our our plate, which is saying a lot since weddings can be one of the most stressful planning events. She was also always kind, smiling, and understanding in the times of stress, never making me feel like we could make the wrong choice if it was the choice we wanted. We really think we got the best wedding planner in the city, but maybe we are bias. We had the full planning package, but I imagine to any involvement they would offer the same care and expertise. -

Absolutely excellent!!!!
We cannot say enough wonderful things about Cygnet Events and design. We had Kate Reavey as our wedding coordinator for our wedding in November 2022. Kate was on top of all vendor communication leading up from finalizing things and sharing itineraries to making last minute adjustments. As an events and logistics professional myself, I knew in order to fully enjoy the day I needed someone like Kate who I could trust had everything under control and could bring our vision to life. Kate is professional, calm, thoughtful and has impeccable attention to detail. I had many touches that were important to us and our families that she embraced and made sure were what we envisioned. Our wedding was an absolute dream and we could not have done it without Cygnet Events. There is no reason to look further. I’ve done all the research on Chicago Wedding planners for you, and you’ve hit the jackpot! I interviewed 4 wedding planners and out of them all, Kate was the only one I felt comfortable would bring my visions to life.
It was May of 2020 when I started my search for a wedding planner, and as of October 1st 2022 I am finally married and I had the wedding of my dreams thanks to the most amazing wedding planner out there, Kate. Kate with Cygnet Events and Design (formerly Chicago Vintage Weddings) will keep you completely on track, she will connect you with the most AMAZING vendor list in the industry (who all adore her), and you will absolutely fall in love with her charm and her passion for your wedding day. She will be completely honest with you and not sugarcoat anything to make sure that your day is stress free and perfect.
Because I was considered a “covid wedding” for a while, the amount of obstacles that we overcame were overwhelming at times, but I never batted an eye when it came to an issue because I knew Kate would fix it or present me with the best options possible.
There were times when vendors told us that their policies had changed, or something wasn’t going to be what we thought it was because they hired a new staff, ie. However, Kate had EVERYTHING in writing. And I mean everything. Always. She is a master at reviewing contracts and catching tricky wording to help her clients. She is quite literally, in all sense of the word, your extreme advocate.
I am FOREVER grateful to have had Kate by my side my entire wedding day and have everything go off without a hitch. I had MULTIPLE people coming up to me in my bridal party, in my family, and tell me all the same thing “your wedding planner is outstanding”, “I went to your wedding planner with X question and she helped me right away”. Did I mention my husband and I had a bridal party of over 30 people and she handled it seamlessly? The day of the wedding, my bridesmaids kept coming up to me while getting ready saying “Why do you look so calm??”, “why do you not seam stressed out?!”. Besides the fact that I was marrying my best friend and had nothing to worry about, I knew that Kate would be there with any little thing to help.
Also, Kate was the only one who could figure out my bustle. I LOVE YOU KATE! YOU ARE THE BEST OF THE BEST! Anyone who hires you is the luckiest Bride/Groom in the world.

I can't say enough good things about our planner, Aly. Truly an exceptional wedding planner that helped make the process of a twice postponed COVID wedding as painless as possible for us.
A few things that made Aly special-
1. I was an anxious bride. Aly was so understanding, warm, and supportive. She asked what I needed and how she could help. She made sure I enjoyed every part of the day, wasn't rushed, and had everything I needed at arms reach. She is a calming presence that felt like a friend.
2. She is an organization queen. She communicated with everyone to ensure we had a great itinerary, got that itinerary into the hands of all the right people, and was the point person for everyone.
3. She's a wealth of knowledge. About anything you can think of related to weddings, Aly knows about it. Need advice on vendors? She's got you. Need to know how to word something on your paper goods? No problem for Aly. She was able to give helpful advice to everyone in the wedding party, parents, our first time officiant, etc. EVERYONE felt taken care of with Aly.
4. She is genuinely happy to be there. You get the sense that this isn't just a job for Aly, but rather she just loves being a part of people's wedding day. She was so happy for us and excited. It was infections. I can't imagine having my wedding day without Aly.
In sum, you can't go wrong with CVW. They have a stellar, supportive team and are worth every penny and then some. -

We hired Chicago Vintage Weddings to assist with coordination and day of planning during the month leading up to our big day and it turned out to be one of the best decisions. Aly, our coordinator, made sure that the vendors we found had their own network of communication so as to not bother me or my husband with any minor questions and problems in the weeks leading up to the wedding. She was there with us during the walkthrough of our site with our vendors, to ask questions to the site owner, and vendors about timing and services that we wouldn't have known to ask. She also provided us with some supplementary items from their extensive rental inventory to help with the decor! On the big day, Aly was on top of EVERYTHING. She kept our wedding moving so smoothly that it was a beautiful thing to witness. If you want to have a SMOOTH, FUN, and ORGANIZED wedding, be sure to contact CVW, they know what they're doing. Simply the best
Hiring CVW was a no-brainer after speaking with Kate. Her professionalism, industry knowledge and warm personality sold us. After meeting our coordinator Aly, it was clear that everyone at CVW is top notch! She took away all the day-of (truly month-of) stress and to-dos so that we could focus on spending time with our families and friends. She also helped us with some rentals for our sweetheart table that were such a nice touch during the day. And she loves dogs! As a COVID bride, I was always waiting for the other proverbial shoe to drop, but with CVW it never happened. Would recommend them without reservation! -

Kate from CVW was our coordinator for our May 2022 wedding, and we cannot recommend her highly enough! Our wedding was postponed twice due to covid, which led to extra complexities, vendor switches, and added stress -- but Kate went above and beyond to help navigate through all these bumps. Kate was incredibly professional, experienced, organized, and responsive, and once she took the reins about 6 weeks out from the day, the stress turned to relief and confidence knowing she was taking care of everything. We also got some great furniture rentals through CVW. We absolutely recommend Kate and CVW to anyone planning a wedding -- we couldn't imagine doing it without her! -

Where to even begin. We met Kate back in April of 2019 at the recommendation of a friend. We immediately were struck by her professionalism and attentiveness to detail. Fast forward and because of Covid we just had our "big" wedding in December of 2021. Over the almost three years we have been working with Kate (including two reschedules of our big wedding and planning a small backyard wedding) , she has shown herself to be incredible kind, generous, creative, sharp, professional and pretty much both of our families think she is "the best wedding planner ever!" We would have been lost without her! She is also incredible creative - you get not only a planner but event designer as well - she thinks of every detail to make you and your guests comfortable and having the best time. You absolutely will not regret having Kate as your planner!!
While we are glad to have wedding planning behind us, we miss working with Kate!

I chose Chicago Vintage Weddings as a vendor back in November. It was an easy decision; I was immediately enchanted by their big, rustic farm tables and delicate vintage stemware. Chantel was so warm and responsive and, honestly, just fun — which goes a long way when you're planning a wedding. One lovely in-person meeting, a slew of emails back and forth, and a handful of well-received changes (met with smart suggestions) later, we were all set for an intimate backyard wedding, complete with farm tables, stemware, and a flourish of other beautiful touches. And then an international pandemic. A quarantine. General upheaval of 'normal' life and the dissipation of wedding season 2020. It seemed a trivial thing in some ways, but we, along with the rest of the betrothed, had some soul searching to do: to wed or not to wed? While we were excited and grateful to be one of the few couples who did indeed get to celebrate this summer, we had to make some changes to prioritize safety. Chantel and the owner Kate made those changes easy. I simply could not have pulled off a quarantine wedding without them. They were helpful, flexible, savvy, thoughtful and just real people about the whole thing, a breath of fresh air in a sometimes stuffy industry. To end, I'll just say that if Kate and Chantel can cheerfully manifest my dream wedding amid a worldwide pandemic, they can probably do anything. -

Kate. Is. Incredible. I don’t know how she does it, but she is a superwoman and we literally could not have made our wedding happen without her. She hooked us up with some awesome vendors that we wouldn’t have known about otherwise and give us realistic expectations about our budget. She held our hand throughout the entire process (we booked her for full wedding planning) and counseled us through our anxieties and even family disagreements. (You never know how strong ideas you and your parents have about napkins until you get married!) If you’re debating about full planning or partial planning, my advice would be to just go for the full planning if you can swing it. The money we spent on planning we definitely saved in getting good deals and finding out about high quality, well-priced vendors. Also, the peace of mind that Kate at CVW provided was PRICELESS. -

I had the most stress-free experience working with Chicago Vintage Weddings! As someone who is not detail oriented, I can honestly say they made furniture rental a snap! I sent Chantel my florist’s vision board and she took it from there. She immediately sent me photos of pieces she knew would fit the vibe of the space and color scheme-it was spot on!! Thats another great thing about this company- they are SO timely and professional. I always felt like i was their top priority, which is a HUGE stress reliever when you’re planning a wedding! It snowed on my wedding day and much of my venue was closed, but I was confident knowing I’d have a beautiful, sophisticated space to take photos with their furniture. They did an outstanding job and helped my day be seamless. I would recommend to anyone who wants to make their day extra memorable! -

Had a great experience renting with Chicago Vintage Weddings for my backyard wedding! I was going for a vintage chic look for my table centerpieces that was affordable. Chantel was amazing to work with and great communicating. I was easily able to schedule appts to view their studio/warehouse, pick up rentals, and drop them off. I rented a ton of gold candlesticks and vintage bottles and set them up all along the middle of the tables and then added ostrich feathers inside the bottles and vintage love poems ripped from old books laid out underneath as a runner and it was perfect! Exactly what I had imagined and had a bunch of comments on how unique it was. I would highly recommend Chicago Vintage Wedding services. -

My husband Giusseppi and I got married September 28th of 2019 and we most definitely could not have had a smoother day if we tried. It was all thanks to Chicago Vintage Weddings. I knew who I wanted to hire as soon as I got engaged and I'm so glad we made it happen. Kate, was so kind and made us feel so special the entire time. We went with the 6 week coordination package which was just perfect for us! The last four weeks are always the most stressful and hectic and due to the help of Ellen, Giusseppi and I were able to focus on just what we needed and the rest she handled. We felt so loved and looked after and Ellen was the best fit for us! I truly believe if we did not hire them we would have been panicked and stressed weeks before the wedding. Our wedding day was everything we had dreamed of, thanks to CVW's day-of coordination (which was really more like month-of!). We were planning our wedding remotely from a different state, which made it really important for us to have a great coordinator, and I am so glad we invested in their services. We were matched up with Ashley, who was wonderful. In the weeks leading up to the big day, she took over all communication with our vendors, ensuring that everyone was on the same page for things to go as planned, and facilitated a final run-through at our venue that everyone involved really appreciated. She also perfectly tracked and ensured our progress with finalizing the nuts and bolts of our ceremony (like the script, music, etc.). On the actual wedding day, we really appreciated Ashley's calm and organized presence - she was always magically right there before we even had to look for her. My impression as the bride was that if anything went wrong behind the scenes, I was not aware of it whatsoever because everything seemed to go perfectly!
I cannot believe I ever thought having a coordinator was optional - I truly don't think I would have been able to juggle all these details myself, and Ashley's ability to do so was very impressive. She thought of things I never would have remembered and made sure that we had clear plans in place for all those details, all the way from the timing of our ceremony music cues down to the glassware quantities we were renting. She really went above and beyond, and even took some great candid photos while I was getting ready with my bridesmaids, which are so great to have as we wait for our official photos to come back from our photographer. To us, our coordination package felt like a very good value for the way it took day-of tasks off our hands and gave us peace of mind. We would absolutely recommend CVW's services! -

Kate and Chicago Vintage Weddings helped us plan our dream wedding! My husband and I are medical residents and incredibly short on time. Chicago Vintage Weddings helped us with every stage of the planning process and allowed my mom and I to plan a gorgeous wedding around my hectic work schedule. Kate was always professional, warm and a pleasure to work with. She introduced us to amazing local vendors, the perfect venue and countless creative ideas to make our day one of a kind and perfect. Chicago Vintage Weddings and Kate Lerman are just A+++, let’s just start there. :) My husband and I took a long time to eventually set a date so you can imagine finding a wedding planner was a very important decision to match our nontraditional wedding goals. Non-traditional in the sense that we really wanted to have just a beautiful, epic and modern dinner party to celebrate our marriage with our closest loved ones that we didn’t have to really think about planning and leave it up to a professional who had amazing design taste and execution skills. After a few wedding planner interviews, Chicago Vintage Weddings was the right fit! We decided to choose full planning service and met the CEO, Kate Lerman. Not only was she randomly from my hometown and high school, she just felt like a close friend from the moment we met her. Kate is very organized, extremely knowledgeable on the Chicago wedding market, an executor, and again, someone you will really enjoyed being around..(which, I was repeatedly told, choose a wedding planner you really like because you will be spending a lot of time with him/her!). Our full planning included budgeting, designing, curating a short list of select vendors, executing vendor contracts, handling every detail before, during and after the wedding and anything else you could think of. Kate also had amazing design aesthetic and taste (her firm has a beautiful vintage rental collection of furniture, table settings, etc you can rent). She helped us complete our attire, designed our color palate and wedding theme, chose the best florists, caterer and paper goods vendors, curated vintage rentals from her collection, recommended gifts, added a neon sign with our last name, you name it. We chose Salvage one as our reception location and Church de Notre Dame for our ceremony. Kate laid out a budget based on our needs and we were off to chose our vendors. She made it easy by showing us select vendors that fit our style and we really had no second guesses there…maybe a second cake tasting (why not), but we went with one Kate thought was ideal for us anyways (Sweet Mandy B’s). Kate was tough when she needed to be, but also very calm and easy going to ensure a wonderful balance to our crazy busy schedules and also strong personalities. My wedding party, parents, in-laws and friends and family raved about Chicago Vintage Weddings, Kate and how incredibly beautiful and fun the wedding was on June 14, 2019. They said she was cool, uber organized and amazing…and of course I am still friends with Kate today and want to hang with her more :). If you are looking for a modern, design forward, forward thinking wedding planner who knows the Chicago wedding scene inside and out, you need to go with Chicago Vintage Weddings and Kate Lerman…they are #1 !!! -

My husband and I hired Kate and Chicago Vintage Weddings for some rentals and day of coordination for our wedding on 1/12/19.
We could not have been happier with Kate as our planner. She was a superwoman and made our wedding absolutely perfect. I was told that I would not actually get to enjoy my wedding day because of all the little details that I would be worrying about throughout the day. Thanks to Kate, this was categorically untrue. I didn't worry about a single thing the day of or even the weeks leading up to the big day. Kate took care to make sure that our vision came to life.
Kate also worked with my mother-in-law to plan a great rehearsal dinner and welcome reception. I didn't waste a minute of thought about these events because I knew Kate was on top of everything. She was also able to easily navigate some of the more awkward family situations and she did so with grace and discretion. There is absolutely no better person to hire for your wedding. -

She coordinated with all of our vendors and the venue to make sure everything would run smoothly. Also the furniture was absolutely gorgeous!! Awesome pieces. Our guests raved about it and used it all night. Great delivery and pick-up service as well. I highly recommend them! Thank you!!!

To be able to actually be in the moment and enjoy the day without worry was worth it enough. And with someone as amazing as Kate, her service fee is a steal for the value you get!
The decision to use Kate for our day-of-coordination was one of the best decisions we could have made. My husband and I both said several times the wedding day and after, we really don't know how we would have pulled off our wedding without her. Kate is professional, organized, dependable, and was able to keep our wedding party/family in check with a smile on her face whereas I would have been having a meltdown and likely yelling at family members!! She was so buttoned up throughout the whole process and we are forever in debt to her for making our wedding day go off without a hitch. Kate & team - thank you for being so amazing!!! -

We chose to use her and her team for the month leading up to our wedding, and I am extremely happy that we did. Kate made sure that we were on track with things that needed to be done, ensured our vendors were paid at the appropriate time, and even sent out an itinerary to our vendors and family so everyone was on the same page. Not only were we planning our wedding, but also coordinating a move out of state the week after our wedding, and Kate took everything off our plate for the wedding so we didn't have to be overly stressed. The wedding turned out beautiful and things ran so smoothly. If you are on the fence about using a wedding coordinator- I will make your decision easy-USE CHICAGO VINTAGE WEDDINGS! Melissa Sent on 10/13/2015I loved working with Kate and her team at Chicago Vintage Weddings! We were looking for just a few extra touches to add to our wedding day, and we were so excited when we found Chicago Vintage Weddings. We rented their beautiful iron room divider for our ceremony, along with three beautiful wooden boxes. A few days before our wedding, one of the boxes we'd planned to rent was damaged, but they were able to offer a different box for us to use - I appreciated being notified about the change, and was happy they were able to offer an alternative right away. Even though it was only those four things we rented, they added so much to the space and the feel of our wedding day. Kate was even able to give suggestions for where to look for a specific item that we wanted to rent, but they didn't have in their inventory. Picking up and dropping off items was a breeze, and the team helped move the items to/from our vehicle at pick up and drop off. I absolutely recommend them for decor rentals - their inventory is full of BEAUTIFUL pieces! -

I was in need of wedding support as I was moving from Chicago to the Bay Area and was not going to be able to handle the final details of my wedding from over 2,000 miles away. I never wanted a wedding planner/coordinator, but I had to be realistic and realize that I was going to need help! I found these fabulous ladies from Google search and feel in love with their website and vision, and I instantly had a gut feeling that these ladies would know what I wanted and help me make it come to life. And that is what they did and then some!!! After we met and talked for over an hour I knew they were the ones that I needed to hire for my month of coordination. There were a few ups and downs with the details of the wedding, none of them with CVW, and Kate and Elizabeth were so professional and supportive and really went above and beyond what I hired them for. Elizabeth kept in touch regularly to assure she had everything from me, vendors, wedding party that she needed for my special day to be perfect, and it was!!! From assuring the timeline was just perfect, to helping me with my broken bustle, they were absolutely spectacular!!! I would recommend Chicago Vintage Weddings for all of your wedding coordination/planning needs!! They will listen to your wants, help you to make them come alive, and be there for you every step of the way!!! And, did I mention that you can rent amazing vintage pieces from them??!! Perfect!! -
Madeleine Sent on 08/08/2018We rented a vintage white sofa, colored water goblets and cake stands from Kate and CVW. The goblets really made our tables look special and the sofa was wonderful for photos and for elderly guests. Delivery and pickup was easy and on-time and Kate responded to e-mails promptly. We had some payment issues before the wedding due to issues with Kate's bank but that's not her fault at all.
