Wedding Cake was Wonderful!

My husband and I went to taste cakes at Renae’s home and loved all of the options that we tasted. We ended up ordering a cardamom cake with matcha buttercream for two of the layers and vanilla cake with hazelnut buttercream for the third layer. Throughout the night we received compliments on the cake’s look and taste! Renae did a wonderful job and we couldn’t be happier with the results!

We couldn’t have been happier!

Renae was so easy to work with, listened to exactly what we wanted and made the most beautiful and delicious cake and variety of cupcakes for our wedding! The are a lot of design and flavor options and she definitely delivered on all of our choices!

Delicious and beautiful wedding cake!

Renae is an artist! Not only does she design beautiful cakes, but they are delicious!!! My husband and I went wedding cake tasting at 5 different bakeries and as soon as we tried Custom Cakes we knew we had found our baker! Not only did Renae welcome us into her home and was prepared with several different cake flavors, frostings and fillings, but she was confident in her skills to deliver the cake I envisioned for my wedding. I found an inspiration picture on Pinterest, showed it to her and she throughly discussed what she would use and how she would recreate the same cake for our special day! And boy did she surpass our expectations! One of the things I was most excited to see (and taste!) at our wedding was our cake and I LOVED it! I felt a little bad cutting into it because it looked soooo pretty! 😂😅😍 We love her cakes so much we have gone back to her twice after for special occasions to buy more! If you want delicious, fresh, beautiful cakes, Renae is your gal! Also, she’s pretty awesome herself! 💓👍🏼👍🏼☺️

Book Custom Cakes!!!

Hands down the best decision for our cake! Renae is amazing and so many people have asked where we got the cake from. The chocolate stout and Pinot raspberry noir cake were a huge hit. She’s going to be my go to for all special event cakes!

Easy, simple, and got exactly what we asked for!

Was such an easy experience from start to finish and ended up with a beautiful wedding cake! Always responded to my emails in a timely matter which when planning a wedding is super important. Appreciated her thorough notes so that we didn't miss a step in getting to the wedding day and eating our delicious cake! Great experience!

Wedding Cake/Cupcakes

Renae was very kind and her cakes were amazing! Everyone loved them and went back for seconds. The flowers on the cupcakes and our wedding cake was beautiful. She even volunteered to come set up later in the day to preserve the cupcakes. I will definitely be ordering from her again!

The Ideal Wedding Cake Experience

Renae was attentive, easy to work with, and very accommodating to our needs throughout the whole process. Equally as important: her cakes are amazing. We requested two different cake flavors for our wedding -- they were both so popular, there was no cake left at the end of the night! Our guests raved. Jaime's wedding dress featured a unique lace pattern, which Renae was able to recreate on the design of the cake. We will definitely be going back to Renae with any future cake-related needs!

Wonderful Experience and would work with Custom Cakes in the future for sure for all types of events. Our wedding cake ended up being exactly what I asked for and more. The detail was amazing. The extra sheet cake and the cheesecake were just as wonderful. Highly recommend.

Renae is amazing and created the perfect cake for our wedding based on our discussion and inspiration photos I shared. The cake tasted amazing, even the left overs were amazing three days later!! We also ordered macaron's that my guests ate before dinner was served! Everything was amazing. I highly recommend Custom Cakes for your event!!

Renae with Custom Cakes was an absolute joy to work with! From the beginning, she was quick to respond and always did so with professionalism. We decided to do centerpiece cakes and she was so willing to work with us to find the most perfect flavor combinations and even gave some expert advice that made the cakes that much cuter! She can also do gluten free if there are any other brides out there that need that too. And after the wedding, all my guests were RAVING about her flavors and how good the cake was! Trust me, you can't go wrong with Renae!

Renae had such a fantastic variety of flavors reflective of the Oregon wine region. She was very available anytime I had questions. The cake was divine. Pinot noir was my favorite!

Renee is a very kind woman who truly has a passion for what she does. I remembered her cake from a friend's wedding several years ago (yes, it is that memorable!) and from that moment, I knew she would be making my wedding cake! Her cakes are absolutely delicious, she listens to what you want, and delivers on all fronts! To me, the delivery fee was totally worth it (she is in Newberg and our reception was in SE Portland). Our cake was absolutely beautiful and our guests raved about the flavors and how good it was. Several people asked where we got our cake from. I will be coming back to Renee to make our 1 year celebration cake for sure!

Our wedding cake was moist, delicious and beautiful. I was unsure of what flavor to do so we followed her recommendation and it was a huge hit. Everyone went back for seconds...thirds...and wanted to know who made it. We will always get our anniversary cakes from here, vanilla with a cream marion berry filling and vanilla butter cream frosting.

The chocolate stout Wedding cake was perfect. I wish I would have got to try my caramel cupcakes I ordered, Everyone said they were great! 2 days before my wedding I called with a request to make my daughter a small graduation cake as she graduated and passed her boards to become an RN days before. It was beautiful! She loved it! Thank you for making my day and her day amazing!

I called the day before the event after searching online for a bakery for my sons 21st Birthday cake. I'm here visiting from California to see him play football at Linfield and have a surprise party planned. He usually likes ice cream cakes but there isn't a Baskin Robbins in McMinnville. Being a small town, I searched and found Custom Cakes and Renae did my a huge favor by taking my order. Since she was delivering a wedding cake to McMinnville on Saturday already, she's bringing the cake and delivering it to the restaurant I'm having the party at. It will be delivered while I'm st the game. It's a win-win for me, thanks again Renae for going over and beyond!!!

I used Custom Cakes for my wedding cake and Renae was amazing to work with. I didn't know the first thing about choosing a cake and she walked me through all the options. She was very flexible when I requested a larger cake shortly before the wedding as well. It turned out perfectly and was exactly what I ordered. Not only did it look beautiful but it tasted amazing too! I look forward to working with her again the next time I need a high quality cake!

Renae worked with me on such short notice and was able to get some cupcakes done for me--even after some coordinated efforts for me to pick them up despite being caught in horrible traffic after flying in to the area, Renae was flexible and worked with me. They turned out amazing, given that I had given a very general color scheme to work with, but so elegant and simple for the bachelorette party I was planning! I got so many compliments on how great these tasted at the event, especially her frosting that was so different from typical store bought...! They made our evening!!

The 50th anniversary cake and cake truffles were beautiful and delicious. Our guests asked us where we had ordered them from, that they hadn't tasted desserts this good. Thanks for making the gold cake design unique and special to us. The chocolate stout cake and vanilla with blackberry mousse were the outstanding favorites and none was left. We will be calling you again for birthday cakes.

I ordered a buck themed baby shower cake, it was detailed and beautiful and everyone loved the vanilla cake with fresh raspberry cream filling. I was so impressed that I came back to her for my wedding cake and booked her a year in advance.

Raene was able to squeeze me in last minute. While she had four other weddings to do the same weekend she made time to make my a mini came for my cutting ceremony! She sat down with us and really tried to figure out our flavor palettes. We ended up deciding on a chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting plus some fresh strawberries for filling. It was so delicious we even took it with us to the airport to munch! Amazing cakes!

The wedding cake planning was one of the easiest parts of planning the wedding, thanks to Renae. She provided great guidance on the decision making, great follow-through, and the cake was PERFECT. The size, decoration, flavors, set-up, everything was top notch. She even did a few little 'extras' that mean so much, like providing a gluten-free layer for us, loaning a nice cake plate, matching up the wedding color to the decorations. Highly recommended. We love supporting local businesses too!

The bride and groom ordered a cake with minimal instruction. They made their basic desires known and Renae did an incredible job making their simple needs a beautiful and delectable treat for everyone. Three flavors - chocolate stout, peach, and local raspberry - were incredible and most people had to try all three. They looked and tasted incredible. She even allotted herself enough time to make sure she could find the unfamiliar location where we had the wedding!

I ordered a Makers Mark chocolate whiskey birthday cake for my fiance's surprise 'dirty 30' party on 4/18/14 and it came out fantastic! It was so delicious and such a hit at the party. Thank you so much for seeing my vision and making it come to life! Absolutely perfect! :)

Renae was great, the colors on our cake were awesome. She met with us when we needed to. We had shot glass toppers on our cake and it was great. The cake was moist the flavours intense. The cake added in to make our day great.

Renae from Custom Cakes was a pleasure to work with. She listened to our vision for our wedding cake and provided so many options for flavors, it was almost too difficult to decide! She accommodated last minute changes to the guest count and increased the size of the cake. On the wedding day, the cake looked amazing, and tasted even better. We got multiple comments from guests about how good the cake was, especially the toffee cake with vanilla buttercream. Now, I only wish we had left overs so that I could eat more of it!

Renae at custom cakes was perfect for us. We had multiple food allergies she accommodated, with ease. She was also local with local fresh produce, which was important. As for the cake, it was delicious, I mean it actually tasted great. We had many compliments on it, I myself (the bride) had two slices. We also had mini gluten-free cupcakes for the kids that were a huge hit. Her frosting wasn't a thick, dense butter cream but a light and fluffy just as tasty if not better.

Renae at Custom Cakes NW did an outstanding job. The cake delivery was prompt and presentation was great. At almost every wedding I attend, wedding cakes rarely get devoured and don't taste great, but not the case with Custom Cakes. We had planned for enough cake for 75 guests over our headcount and thoughout the night, guests kept going back for more and more because it was so delicious. By the end of the night, every piece was gone. Thanks Renae for making our dessert a hit! Compliments from all of our guest as well!

Renae made a gorgeous cake for our wedding, and we truly loved working with her. She was very professional and organized, and we never worried for a minute that everything would turn out perfect. She has a great eye for detail, and our cake turned out exactly how we wanted it. It was also truly delicious. Normally wedding cakes don't taste that good, but Renae's cakes are divine! It was probably the best cake we ever tasted. We had the hazelnut chiffon as well as a custom flavor (lemon-lavender). She was wonderful working with us for the custom flavor and was able to pull off a few other little custom details that were very helpful to us. The cake arrived on time, and with no problems whatsoever. We just loved everything about our experience with her and absolutely recommend her. You won't find a better tasting wedding cake or a more detail-oriented artist than Renae.

Renae was fantastic to work with and took the time to make sure all the details were perfect for my Mom & Dad's 50th wedding anniversary. I would highly recommend Renae at Custom Cakes to anyone who is looking for a cake for a special event. Even though we were an out-of-town couple getting married at a vineyard in Oregon, she was able to work with us long distance to create the perfect wedding cake! It was beautiful, made fresh with local, seasonal ingredients, and, most importantly, delicious. Her Italian Buttercream icing is something you have to taste for yourself!

Our 4 tiered custom wedding cake and "tiki" grooms cake were so beautiful and all 5 favors we're so moist and good! We had so many compliments from guests. We had a platter on our head table with a slice of each so that we could taste each flavor combination, now I want to order another cake sometime soon!

Renae was the cosumate professional,we had initaly went with a vendor suggested to us by friends,which turned into a nightmare..With less than a week before our wedding day we contacted Custom Cakes she took the time to see us right away, displayed pictures of what she had done before and had samples for us to try, prepared that morning....The cake and truffles she prepared for our wedding day were over the top,as all who attended raved about them.......Renae was on time,helpful,and totally professional in all that she done, for Kurtis and I.....Not to mention the fact that her price line for everything was VERY AFFORDABLE.... Renae, at Custom Cakes, really listens and cares about what you are looking for on your wedding day. We wanted a totally old-fashioned cake in taste and appearance to go along with my parent's vintage wedding topper. She dug into her supply of pictures until we found a likeness of what I was imagining my perfect wedding cake would look like. The best part, after the excellent set up and personal touches, was to have delicious cake left over that gave my husband and me wonderful dessert of cake that seemed to get more yummy in the fridge for days after the special day!

Mmmm just thinking back about our wedding cake makes me drool. Renae was the best, I went in with an idea of a cake that looked like a tree round, and she threw around the idea and ended up making us the most beautiful chocolate wrapped cake, which looked as close to real wood as you could get! The guests had no idea it was the cake. Absolutely delicious (I recommend the carrot cake!)

Renae provided the most friendly service. She made suggestions when we did not know what we wanted, our cakes were so beautiful she knew exactly what we were looking for. She made the whole process seamless for us, and even offered some helpful advice to the groom on the big day, which he took to heart. We got so many compliments on not just the beauty of the cakes but on how wonderful they tasted. Wonderful service, and I don't say this often...so good she should charge more! My cake was BEAUTIFUL!!!! And it was cheaper then any other wedding cake I have heard of... I wanted something a bit different since I am a plain jane kind of gal.. And she created something that was exactly what I wanted!!! We changed the cake a few times through out a period of 10 months and Renae never had an issue with it! Oh... AND it tasted AMAZING!!!!

I highly recommend this vendor. Cupcakes and cakes can often be very rich in taste, which may result in many people not finishing their desserts. I found that most of my desserts were eaten in full due to smaller portions (cupcakes) and a taste that was not too rich. The amount of richness from this vendor was just perfect! Keep that in mind so you do not waste money on desserts that people cannot or won't finish :)

If you like spice cake, don't go anywhere else! Very good with Custom Cakes! Also, very moist! Very flexible with getting what we wanted completed on time. We even asked for more custom Oreos with short notice and she made it work for us!

25th Ann Cake

I ordered a cake for a 25th wedding anniversary. Custom Cakes helped to simplify the decision making process. I like the look of fondant, but fondant is harder to cut and not very edible. Custom Cakes made the cake frosting very smooth with the look of fondant. The cake was vanilla with marionberry buttercream filling. Everyone loved it and I received many compliments. The texture was light and moist and the cake was not overly sweet. The location was also very convenient as we were hosting the party at an Oregon winery in the Newberg area. Strongly recommend Custom Cakes.

Renae was very easy and accommodating to work with, and she makes really awesome cakes! She came up with the pretty cake design simply based off what we verbally informed her about the wedding colour scheme and location. Tasty addition to our special day!

From start to finish we were in very capable hands of the custom cakes NW team. We instantly felt connected and like we were family when we met with the team for our tasting. I went in with a small idea of what I wanted, and they really brought it home and met our needs in an affordable price range, and that's saying something, for having a 150-person wedding! We had our wedding cake and two sheet cakes... Which must have been so good because they disappeared long before I got to taste the Oreo flavored one. Cake was great, service somewhat unprofessional

The cake tasted great, guests enjoyed it, it was a 4 tier cake with wonderful variety and lovely presentation.

We were upset with the lack of attention to detail when we made our first appointment. Custom cakes couldn’t remember our tasting appointment after us driving 45 minutes out to her house. She put together a nice taster from what she had in the freezer and we ended up moving forward with her services.

Second, lack of attention to detail with not finding our check and accusing the bride the week of the wedding for not sending the money. Turns out it was under some papers at the bakers home, delivered weeks prior. Very stressful for the client when there were other things going on for the wedding.

Our venue was a mile away and we had to drop the cake stand (that we rented) off after the wedding - after everything we went through I would have enjoyed the service of Custom Cakes picking it up on her own from the venue. Would have saved us more time to enjoy our stay.

We were disappointed in the quality of the cake. Many people, including myself, found it to be quite dry. The icing pattern was suppose to appear like lace--to mimic the dress-- and ended up looking terribly ameteur. I was also disappointed with our bakers harsh reaction to our desire to only purchase a cake for the cake cutting ceremony. I understand her desire to not be compared to the Costco cakes we wished to feed our guests (to save on expenses) but she took it to a strange level by assuring us that doing so would only "insult" our guests and refused to do business with us if we didn't comply. We felt bullied into making the decision to pay for her additional services. A little tact would have improved this review immensely but this is not this baker's style. The fillings she creates were certainly the best part of our experience with this vendor but that is not reason enough for me to recommend her services.

Wedding cake tasted like a freezer

Left a long honest review on google, check it out. Cake tasting like a freezer, cupcakes all different sizes some even smaller the the wrapper, dry crumble, went over my order 3 times and the wrong order was delivered on my wedding day.
