Wearing two hats on this wedding day—as the wedding director and as a member of the bride's family—gave me a unique perspective, and I can confidently say that **Custom Cake Design** was one of the absolute highlights of this celebration.

Great cake
Raquel at Custom Cake Design was great to work with and we loved our cake! She advised us on the appropriate size cake for our guest count. We chose a cake design that she had done before, and she worked with our florist to place flowers on our cake as well. The cake looked and tasted great! -

Attack on titan
This bakery will be my bakery for LIFE! The way they helped me decide the flavors and how flexible they were with my requests!! The way the cake turned out to be! I am in awe! Cake was supposed to be enough for 10 people but it was so big to feed more people than that! I love it so much and i will always recommend!

Yummy cake and nice design
We worked with CCD through our venue, Milton Ridge. During our tasting we were met with so many delicious flavors and cake styles! Everything was so nice and so yummy it was difficult to choose. We ended with butter rum and a lemon raspberry cake. Our guests were in LOVE! So moist and tasted just as good as it did during the tasting. Our cake design was talked through and the finished product was very on theme for our wedding. -

Graduation cake
The graduation cake for my grandson was beautiful! Delicious red velvet with buttercream icing. The attendees were amazed at how delicious the cake was and how talented the cake designer did. I will definitely use custom cakes again. -

Everyone will be talking about the cake
We have nothing but amazing things to say about our experience. The tasting made it hard to choose! but we ended up going with a three tier cake - vanilla with dulce de Leche filling, strawberry cake with strawberry filling and pineapple cake with a vanilla filling. I highly recommend!! I’m glad we ordered for more people than we had because they all wanted to try every flavor. When we had to postpone our wedding, Custom Cake was understanding and worked with us. I hope to have them make our cakes for future events as well. -

Always Exceeds Expectations
This is the 3rd or 4th time I've used Custom Cake Design for landmark birthday events (60, 80, 90). Each time, I present ideas, discuss options and the outcome always exceeds my and my family's expectations. The cakes are always original, beautiful, and delicious. My family is hooked on the white raspberry flavor. I'm not kidding when I say that my family longs for someone to hit one of the decade birthdays so I'll order a cake. Raquel just helped me with my Mom's 90th including cake, cupcakes, cake pops with delivery and setup. Hopefully, I can attach pics so you can see what I mean. -

Custom Cake Design provided the cakes for our wedding and we would highly recommend using them for your wedding or any event you are planning. They worked with us up front to understand what we were looking for and then they created a custom proposal for us. And we had a great experience at our cake tasting where we got to try a lot of different options and finalize our cake choices. We did a primary wedding cake for cutting and then a secondary sheet cake that was also provided to guests. The cakes were delivered by them directly to the venue on-time on our wedding day and they perfectly captured EXACTLY what we were looking for and brought the vision to life. The cakes tasted incredible also - we received so many compliments from guests that they enjoyed the cake! A huge thank you to Raquel from Custom Cake Designs who was our primary point of contact and was very friendly, helpful and responsive. Great Job!
Raquel and her team did an awesome job of doing cupcakes and our top cake for our wedding. She was quick to respond on emails and was very flexible when our original venue cancelled, and we were looking for a new one. Her team delivered the cupcakes and cupcake stand to the venue with no issues and they tasted and looked awesome. Highly recommend! -

What a wonderful experience! I worked with Custom Cakes to make my mom's 60th birthday cake. The cake came out perfect and beyond anything we expected. My mom was so excited! Delicious Retirement Cake & Cupcakes!!!!
We were planning the retirement party for the CEO of our company and Raquel helped us right from the inception of the cake design to setting up the cake and cupcakes for the event. She was patient and listened to our ideas, she provided her recommendations and worked with us at every step of the way during the planning process and captured perfectly all the elements of the design that we wanted to incorporate in the cake and cake topper. The cake and cupcakes were DELICIOUS!!! They were an instant hit with the employees. We highly recommend Raquel and the Custom Cake Design to anyone planning an event- big or small. -

The cake was amazing! We did a tasting to pick the right flavor and it arrived on time, looked beautiful, and tasted delicious! They delivered from Maryland to Virgina with a very reasonable fee. They even included the box for the top tier with instructions on how to save it! -

Our wedding cake looked amazing and tasted delicious! They have so many flavors we had a hard time deciding and ended up getting a couple different cupcake flavors with our cake. Everyone said how good they were. They contacted me ahead of time to make sure everything was how I wanted and delivered the cake to our venue. Would definitely recommend! -

Delicious cake!! We received so many compliments about the cake! It tasted so good and the service was great. Raquel and her team made everything so easy from the tasting to Sunday delivery. They also send the top layer of cake home with instructions about how to freeze and save it to enjoy on our anniversary. We will definitely use them again for other occasions! -

Wow, when I say this was meant to be, it was meant to be. My husband and I and already chosen a cake place but forgotten to cancel our cake tasting with custom cake design. We went to about 5 different places to taste wedding cake before this one and none of them could have provided better services or tastier cake then Custom Cake Design. First off, we went in for a tasting and the employee/owner was nice and professional and gave enough samples for my mom, husband, and myself to enjoy multiple bites of each one (you would expect that anyway but the other places either gave tiny samples which were not enough for everyone to taste or they gave us cupcakes). After trying the cake, we knew they would be our vendor, we ate every single part of the big sample she gave us. The wedding cake they made us was beautiful, exactly how we wanted it, and everyone raved about the taste and texture of it (it was spongy and moist and perfect). The price was incredible too, we paid less than $600 dollars for an 80 person 3 tier cake and a 30 person sheet cake - compared to over $1000 at a couple other places. We will be buying cake from there just to eat! -

I bought my daughter's wedding cake from Custom Cakes. It was a 3-tiered round design that served 110 people. It was beautiful and delicious. I ordered their signature flavor of white raspberry with a buttercream frosting. It was decorated with fondant "ribbons".
The staff is professional and friendly. And the cake tasting is such fun! Recommended. -

My husband and I just celebrated our first anniversary and our cake was just as delicious as it was on the night of our wedding. The directions to freeze it were simple and easy to follow and the cake preserved extremely well. We didn't get to enjoy much of it on our wedding night so having this whole cake to ourselves was such a treat! Thank you Custom Cake Design!! -

Custom Cake Design did a fabulous job with the cake for my wedding! They were the third bakery I went to for a tasting and, after having been disappointed at the other two, I was very impressed with Custom Cake Design. First, the cakes are delicious. Also, there are SO MANY CHOICES, it's amazing! I think we sampled at least 20 kinds of cake :) As an added bonus, it turns out that their frosting is actually dairy-free, even though it tastes like some of the best buttercream you've ever had. This is great for those of us with dairy intolerances! All of my friends and family were raving about the cake, and at least a few people were asking who the bakery was so that they could get cake there in the future! We went for a fairly simply cake design and it looked beautiful. I highly recommend CCD! -

I loved my wedding cake!! It was a beautiful ivory cake with gold dots and bows. Each tier was a different flavor. The cake tasting day was so much fun. Custom Cake let us try so many flavors and fillings. It was hard to make a choice! Our favorite flavor was choc chip cake with cream filling. Cant wait to try our top tier in one year :)
Everyone at Custom Cakes is very friendly and responsive. They create a sketch of your design and give you an opportunity to review and really decide if you like it.
The cake was a huge hit and we loved our experience! -

OMG..... our cake was STUNNING and delicious!!!!!!!! After getting a first quote from another vendor (double the price - ZERO taste....) - we found Custom Cake Design! I went for a visit, the folks there were just WONDERFUL! Down to earth and kind! Beautiful fluffy cake.... the buttercream icing is right on point!!!!! (We did a red velvet, raspberry white chocolate and white chocolate layers.... YUM!!!!) Just so easy to work with!!! What a wonderful experience! If you are in the Maryland, DC, or even the Virginia area, I would 100% recommend Custom Cake Designs. So easy to work with!! You can schedule a cake tasting at any time - just easy and wonderful!!! Custom Cake Design was amazing - don't let the industrial park where they are located mislead you! We had done a cake tasting at another bakery before, and Custom Cake Design was hands down the best choice! There was such a wide variety of flavors and combinations that we could choose in order to make it unique to us. While debating over our flavors, the staff pointed out that they could make each layer a different flavor. No one at our tasting had to compromise on what they wanted! When it came to design it was so easy. They listened to what we wanted, and it came out absolutely stunning - they even matched the blue to my bridesmaid's dresses! We were able to drop off our cake topper as soon as it arrived, and at that time Custom Cake Design even allowed us to add Gluten- and Dairy-free cupcakes to our order so that we could accommodate all of our guests. The cake was delicious, and to top it all off, Custom Cake Design even provided a small box with directions in order for us to preserve our top layer. We will be going to Custom Cake Design for any future bakery needs we have! -

Custom Cake Designs is fantastic. The cake was included with our venue (Montgomery Country Club) so I was a little hesitant and wasn't sure how it would be. They were very receptive to what we wanted and our cake tasting was fantastic. The final cake was everything we wanted and our guests loved it. We even had different flavors on each layer. Will definitely be using them again in the future! -

Our wedding cake from CCD was fantastic and most importantly, it was delicious! They responded to emails always the same day, usually within an hour and were very nice when we went there for the tasting. I didn't have a very clear idea of what I wanted, and they worked with me to design a lovely three layer cake. It was so delicious I was eating more of it in the hotel lobby (along with others) long after the wedding ended! -

Custom Cake Design was great! We ordered a small top tier for us and two different flavor cupcake for our guests and all of it was AMAZING! Since we only had one bite of our top tier at the reception, we both had a piece before we froze it. Our top tier was Butter Rum cake with Raspberry filling and Buttercream icing. The cupcake were Champagne and Chocolate Raspberry flavored with Buttercream icing. All of it was amazing! The pricing for the cupcakes and cake was the cheapest we found and the quality was great! Can't wait to have more of our cake at our one year! :) Highly recommended. -

My husband and I worked with Custom Cakes Design as part of our contract with the Gaithersburg Marriott at Washingtonian and were very happy with the cakes. We went to do a tasting with my parents and all agreed on selections for the wedding cake and the groom's cake. Just for fun, we ordered a small version of the wedding cake flavors for a family holiday gathering to taste them together and realized that we weren't really thrilled with our selections together on the second taste. The manager at Custom Cakes Design was extremely accommodating and allowed us to come back in for a second tasting to figure out the flavors for our wedding cake (the groom's cake was still delicious and required no changes at all). We chose the same cake with different icing and it made all the difference in the world. Our wedding was last weekend and both cakes turned out beautifully - exactly how I wanted them to look and absolutely delicious. Very highly recommended! -

It’s really important that a wedding cake tastes as good as it looks, and Rachel of Custom Cake Design understands this. She supplied us with a 3 Tier Wedding Cake (Vanilla cake, Lemon filling and Rich White Icing) that looked exactly like the picture I supplied her with. A ¾ sheet Groom’s cake (Chocolate Chip cake, Chocolate mousse filling and Rich Chocolate Icing) with a custom picture and inscription on top. And finally, a small Gluten free cake for my three Gluten free guests. I tried all three cakes and they were extraordinary. In addition to creating three delicious cakes, Rachel answered all of my (constant) questions in a very friendly way and she even made a special point of sizing up the silver cake board so that it would look great with the pedestal cake stand that I had purchased elsewhere. I highly recommend this vendor for your wedding cakes and any other special occasion cake needs you might have. -

Our cake was amazing! It was exactly as ordered and tasted divine. We went with two tiers (our anniversary tier and the bottom tier) strawberry cream and the middle tier white chocolate. Our guests had nothing but great things to say and we cannot wait to taste it again on our anniversary! -

Custom Cake Design was one of the available options through the hotel we had our reception at and we were so happy with the results!!! The tasting process was great, they let us try literally every flavor they have to offer and each one tasted great and were all very moist. We didn't know exactly what we wanted but they were very helpful and patient with us as we looked at possible designs. The anemone sugar flowers they made turned out absolutely beautiful. We got a lot of compliments from our guests asking where we got the cake from. -

We got a cake for our wedding day! My fiancé and parents all went to the cake tasting and we were greeted by Raquel, the owner. She was SO sweet and helpful and we had a great variety of cake flavors. The cake was so moist and had great flavor. Of course, cake is always good at the tasting but I was curious if it would taste just as good on our big day! I have been to many weddings where the cake is usually dry or not very flavorful. First off, when I saw the cake on our wedding day, I was VERY pleased with how beautiful the cake was! Even more pleasing, was how delicious and moist the cake was! We got so many great compliments on the cake from our guest! Custom Cake Design is the way to go-- you won't be disappointed!! -

We engaged Custom Cake Design to provide the cake for our daughters wedding. We scheduled a meeting with Raquel who reviewed the catalog of designs and walked us through the display case of beautiful model cakes. After selecting a style, we were offered several samples of freshly baked cake flavors, upon which, we selected the vanilla/marble flavor with the butter cream icing. The cake was delivered on time and setup as requested and added to the beauty of the day. After the cake was served, we received many compliments and recall one in particular from a family friend with considerable experience in catering special events. She shared "this is the most delicious wedding cake I have ever tasted!". The compliments echoed our sentiment that CCD's cake added to the beauty of the day and contributed to the success of our daughters wedding day. -

We had the most amazing wedding cake from Custom Cake Design. As Mother of the Groom, I ordered the cake as a surprise for the couple. They had a travel theme, sharing their recent adventures in Asia, India, and Australia. When I saw a cake on Custom Cake Design's web site that looked like an old-fashioned suitcase with travel stickers on it, I knew it would be perfect. I emailed photos for them to use in place of the travel stickers, which came out well and made it very personal. It looked so realistic that someone tried to pick it up by its fondant handle!! It was also delicious - we got lemon and strawberry cream. My son doesn't always like cake, but he loved it, as did the bride all the guests. I can't recommend them highly enough! -

Custom cake design did an amazing job on our wedding cake. When we walked in to their bakery we already had the cake designed, and Raquel and Jean were thrilled to make it a reality. The ladies at Custom Cake Design were so helpful and accommodating! I went in to their bakery, newly engaged, trying to find out some information about how my cake would be and they were so eager to help me pick the perfect flavors! I then went back again with my mom and again with my fiance, and never once did they make me feel unwelcome! I was able to email pictures and show the style I was going for. The cake came out PERFECTLY. Exactly what I wanted and the best part, it tasted amazing. I had two parts red velvet, and one part almond butter and it was so delicious. I didn't eat my meal on my wedding day (I was running around and dancing too much) but I was sure to eat two pieces of cake! Raquel is an amazing cake designer and will personally sit down with you to help design the cake of your dreams for your big day. We ended up doing cupcakes instead of the traditional wedding cake but everyone loved them just as much. Our favorite flavors are autumn spice, butter rum, and chocolate. The cake tasting we went too (she has them monthly) was great as you got to see many of her cake designs and try over 10 flavors. We recommend her to everyone. -

I ordered this wedding cake on line from Texas. Rachel was so helpful, and the cake was a white simple design # 55 . She added some red roses and baby's breath and an initial to the top of a two tiered cake . Not only was it beautiful, it was delicious...moist cake with a wonderful light fluffy frosting. Our first vendor backed out, feeling our design was too elaborate. We were lucky enough to get a recommendation for Custom Cake Design from a family friend who had used them several times for events and weddings.
Custom Cake Design was able to create the exact design / presentation we'd hoped for and they were incredibly responsive, we had only 2.5 weeks before our wedding. We had so many accolades about how adorable and fantastic the cake was. -

We opted for a cupcake tower for our wedding in lieu of a cake. It was absolutely stunning and elegant. My husband and I went for a tasting on a Saturday morning and roughly 20 flavors of cake were presented to us. The hardest part about working with Custom Cake Design is that, all of the flavors were so delicious, it made it difficult to decide on just three. All of my guests raved about the cupcakes. We ordered 120 for 88 guests and there were only a few left over at the end of the wedding. Overall, they were delicious, beautiful, and reasonably priced. I highly recommend Custom Cake Design for any special event. -

This place is great. Although my cake was worked into my event package at the hotel, I had a great time going to a tasting at their location. I went to one of their monthly cake tastings, and it was great. They were so nice and accommodating. Custom Cake design located in Gaithersburg, MD did a great job with our wedding cake. They have open houses at their bakery every month and my fiance and I went one time to check them out. We were able to sample many different flavors and see examples of the cake designs. They break their prices down by 3 tiers with the first tier being the most and the 3 tier being the most intricate design. Our wedding had a rustic elegance theme so we went with a simple tier one design. We ordered flowers from our florist for them to arrange on the cake the day of the wedding. You are able to have each tier of your cake be a different flavor and we chose to go with tried and true vanilla, chocolate and red velvet. Their cake is super moist and delicious and tasted the same on the wedding day as it did at the tasting. All of our guests raved about how good the cake was. We were very pleased with how it turned out. I would definitely recommend them to anyone needing a cake for their wedding. -

OMG, I shopped for the best cake ever and found it here! We knew we wanted something chocolate and raspberry, and ended up with a combination of the white raspberry cake with raspberry filling and chocolate raspberry cake with raspberry filling. We ordered a bigger cake than we needed on purpose and had some of the white raspberry cake left over. Don't you know we had several people calling us up and even stopping by a few days later..."hey do you have any of that cake left over, I was hoping.." My 80+ year old Dad, an ice cream lover, said I loved, it, I had both types. For our first anniversary we opted to not freeze the top cake, but are planning to go back and get a whole new cake! It was that DELICIOUS. The monthly cake tasting that they offer is definitely worth it. -

BEST WEDDING CAKE PLACE EVER! Quality tasting and cake flavors. Extremely easy to work with. Custom Cake Design helped me design a Grooms Cake and it came out exactly how i wanted it. My fiance was amazed when he saw the Grooms Cake at the wedding! Absolutely loved them! you must use them for your wedding!!!

We used Custom Cake Design for our wedding last month and they were absolutely perfect! We walked in knowing that we wanted carrot cake and they were happy to customize it to our taste! They have an extensive showroom but are also happy to create designs based on ideas you have or even Pinterest pins! I bought a custom topper on Etsy and they matched the trim color of it perfectly with frosting! The cake was delicious (I have a sweet tooth and wedding cake is usually so bland--not this one! I had a second slice!) and they provided detailed directions for freezing the top tier for the one-year anniversary. They're a definite winner! -

We opted for cupcakes instead of the traditional wedding cake, with the standard 6" anniversary layer. We also had some special requests for flavoring and icing. All our expectations were met or exceeded. We were thrilled with how lovely everything turned out. Our guests raved about how good all 3 flavors were and fought over the leftovers when the reception was over. I will order from Custom Cake Design for any event from now on. -

Amazing showroom, great and patient team! Raquel and Sarai from day one were knowledgeable, warm and very helpful as we went through the process of selecting our wedding cake. I have ordered several cakes from Custom Cakes and have never been disappointed! RAQUEL is easy to work with and open to the challenge of creativity with her cake designs. For my wedding we had an ocean theme and I was more than pleased to find the design not exactly my vision but even better! I was impressed with the hand made chocolate shells and the cake is always tastey! I recommend trying the key lime pie flavor as it is surprisingly the perfect amount of lime and sweet, not overpowering! We also had the chocolate fountain at the wedding which is always a big hit! I highly recommend Custom Cake designs! -

Raquel and the staff at Custom Cake Design were very friendly and helpful in choosing and customizing our cake. The cake turned out even better than we anticipated. Can't mark Custom Cake Design down for a single thing! They are so fabulous. Cake was delicious and beautiful. We also had cake pops and a chocolate fountain (with manyyy fabulous dippers) from them! They are so accommodating and truly listen to what you want! Raquel is so sweet! Everyone was so friendly and professional the day of. And I was so excited to see how well my vision translated to the final product! Side note: Their chocolate fountain is the best! Not just some cheap melted chocolate but delicious Belgian chocolate! Yummm! -

They did a fabulous job on my wedding! I had a 6-inch cake with flowers as the centerpiece for each reception table, all different flavors/fillings. Their selection of flavors is great, and would definitely recommend going to their open house. We went to two open houses so we could try more cake flavors! The staff at these open houses are very helpful. They had to make 16 cakes for the day and they did an excellent job. We definitely ordered more cake than was needed based on guest count, but our guests loved the cakes so much there was not much to take home (we also provided little to go boxes so guests could take more cake!). They also did a perfect job with decorating the cakes.
They also baked and decorated our favors. They were dachshund cookies. We found the dachshund cookie cutter on Amazon and gave it to them. They made a few and provided us with a couple decorating options as well as a taste test. It's a good thing we ordered extra because those were so tasty as well! Our guests loved them and thought they were cute (we own a dachshund so it wasn't random!)
I will definitely be going back to them for birthdays, etc. in the future! -
