Stunning venue lacking in management
My daughter chose Coley Hall for her wedding and reception on April 25, 2024. The facility offers a rustic ambiance that offers an amazing backdrop for wedding pictures. It is unfortunate that this is where the storybook wedding story ends. There were a few shining stars that provided outstanding service and support to my daughter and the wedding party throughout the event. The venue manager was NOT one.
She interrupted the pre-wedding photoshoot to accuse "someone" of bringing an open bottle of alcohol into the venue. When pressed for specifics she had opened a closed backpack that contained a wedding gift of an UNOPENED bottle of hard-to-find alcohol.
Later this was followed up with a passive-aggressive interaction, with the same manager, regarding final payment of the venue. This had already been discussed with the booking agent that the payment would be made within three days after the wedding. She did not bring this up with the groom, but with my daughter. She told my daughter that there was an issue with the final payment, but she should take it up with the groom. Why would anyone make such a comment during the reception!! The manager did not want to hear about the payment situation that had been worked out with the booking agent.
Food!! Using this facility you are forced to use their catering service. This is without a doubt the worst food I have even had. Hors d'oeuvres were 2-3 crackers and cheese bites from a bag. The meal was chicken alfredo. The penne noodles were so overcooked, they were mush. The alfredo sauce was more like white water with a little cheese flavoring. Rolls were flat, cold, and tasteless. Chicken was available for those who wanted to add chicken. It was cold and had been setting so long that the broth/fat had congealed around the pieces. A side salad was provided, but I would not refer to this as a salad. Each salad plate had maybe 10 leafy greens which were easily drowned with a tablespoon of dressing. Any vendor serving such food indicates that they are all about the profit and could care less about the quality of food. There was no water available at any of the tables. All drinks, including water, had to come from the bar. Cost for the food, gratuity, and service (two people spooning out this mess) cost over $4K. They should be ashamed to take this much money for such poor quality of food.
Think carefully before spending money at this venue. The ambiance is amazing, but this is where the value ends.
