Excellent Caterer

Classic Catering did a great job catering our 100-person, buffet-style wedding reception at Hyland Hills. We initially checked them out because they had a nice variety of food on the menu and offered lots of extras at no additional cost, such as linens and dinner plates. The tasting was also free—a huge bonus. The food we chose for the wedding (pot roast, baked ham, roasted potatoes, seasonal veggies, corn, pasta salad, Caesar salad, pies for dessert) was delicious and reasonably priced compared to other caterers, especially with all the extras. We got several compliments from guests on the food. I highly recommend Classic to anyone planning a wedding!

Amazing to work with and awesome food!

Classic Catering was absolutely wonderful to work with! We had them for our wedding at Little Log House. Dana was incredibly helpful throughout the entire process and was so patient with all of my questions. We had some appetizers during social hour, plus the pasta bar buffet for dinner and everything was delicious. We had a lot of compliments from the guests on how good everything was! The catering staff were all really nice and did a great job during the wedding. I highly recommend using Classic Catering for any type of event, but especially for a wedding!

Would Recommend For All Events

We had Classic Catering for our wedding at The 3 Ten Event Venue. The Taco/Fajita buffet that we had was absolutely fantastic. It was a hit with our guests. Not only were the food options incredible, but the service was equally great -- Very attentive and polite.

Dana was very responsive and accommodating leading up to our wedding day. We will only speak highly of Classic, and would recommend for any sort of event.

Delicious food, wonderful service, unbeatable pricing!

Dana and the catering staff were amazing to work with! We had a buffet, and the food was delicious - we received many compliments. Plus, we were able to keep the leftovers and are still enjoying them. :) The bar and food prices are incredibly reasonable - I highly recommend them! Also, Classic cut the cake for us as we needed and were a great help overall. :)

Affordable and Tasty!

I booked Classic Catering for so many reasons. They don't have ridiculous fees for things (china, utensils, linens, etc.) They have NO cake cutting fee. They let you keep your leftovers. Their food is good and there are a lot of menu options. They offer bar services. They offer free use of some decor items like volatiles. And the staff is responsive and professional. It doesn't get better than that.

Wedding Buffet

Classic Catering was the perfect service to cater our wedding day! Dana was absolutely fantastic to work with she was organized, on-time, and had every answer to questions that we asked. She helped guide us through the process of choosing specific entrees, place settings, additional options, beer and wine selections and much more. They were very professional and valued our time whenever we had a meeting together. The food was excellent and the staff on the day of our wedding were so kind, respectful and enjoyable to work with. This is by far the best catering company in the Twin Cities area and I suggest to anyone to use this company for any future special event!

Classic catering was excellent. We had a buffet and bar service at our reception. Very professional, timely and everyone said it was the best wedding food they had ever had. Highly recommend, they were great!

Classic Catering was awesome! Not only were they the most cost effective, they were by far the best tasting food we tested.
All of our guests were ranting and raving about how good our food was! By far the best decision we made with the whole wedding planning!

We had such a great time at our wedding! Classic Catering took care of everything! We met with Dana who is so awesome at getting back to us with every question we had before the big day! The food was awesome!! The service was so great! The late night staff were the best and helping us take down everything! I would hire Classic Catering again for the future!

I don't normally ever write reviews but felt compelled to do so! Working will Dana was fantastic, she was always very responsive & professional! The staff that catered our event in Minnetrista, Minnesota were on task! Food was really delicious, hot, beautifully displayed & fresh! Had so many compliments with the food & catering staff! We had the panko crusted stuffed chicken breast, roast beef, the house salad, broccoli/ grape salad, mashed potatoes & fresh, seasonal roasted veggies! Couldn't have asked for better service & awesome food! Thank you so much for making our daughter's wedding so memorable!!

We booked Classic Catering for our second reception at Hughes Pavilion in Centennial Lakes Park, Edina. They were one of the preferred vendors, and I'm SO glad they were. Everyone we met with at CC was professional and kind, responded quickly and informatively to emails. We went in for a tasting, which they were very flexible about booking us in for seeing as we don't live in the area and had a small window of time over Christmas when we were in town.

The food was DELICIOUS. Especially the mashed potatoes. And the cookies. Ooh and the chicken. OK all the food was delicious. The presentation was gorgeous, they even bring linens for your non-catering tables like the gift tables, cake table, sign in table etc, which really helped us. You can pick the table cloths up the day before (which I HIGHLY recommend doing) and drop them off the next day, you just give them a deposit check which they rip up once you've returned them. There was plenty of food, and they let you take home the leftovers if you bring your own containers. I'm so glad we did, because they were delicious left overs and we ate them for days. Seriously, the mashed potatoes..

The value is SUPERB. Compared to other companies in the area (and I did a LOT of comparisons), they beat out everyone. They don't stick on extras "fees" for every little thing, either. Table cloths are included, centerpieces are even included if you want them (mirror, vase and candles, you have to provide the actual flowers yourself - go to Costco). There are lots of options if you want to upgrade, but you really can pick your price point and have a great experience with them no matter what. They cut your cake for you, even if they didn't provide the cake. They just do it to be nice.

We were really happy with our choice, and already have friends in the area who have booked them for their reception! Highly recommended.

We used Classic Catering for our wedding in June 2016. They did a fabulous job and provided great, quality food for our wedding! Everyone we worked with was professional and very responsive to the needs of the day. I would recommend Classic Catering for wedding or other catering needs.

Classic Catering catered for my wedding at the Eagan Community Center and the food was amazing! Throughout the night we had several guest tell us about how delicious the food was, and how it was "the best food they have ever had at a wedding!" Classic catering also allows you to take food home after the wedding, so do not forget Tupperware (giant party sized) ... like we did lol. Luckily we had a family member run and go get us some Tupperware. And after seeing how much food was left, thank goodness classic catering does not throw it away! The food was so good we had family members fighting over who got to take home what! After being married for 8 months now, I still have wedding guest reminiscing about how good our food was. The best mashed potatoes I have ever had in my entire life!!

Excellent food (we had the pork and stuffing, chicken buffet)! Staff was very accommodating to our questions and allergy-related food needs. Guests particularly appreciated attention to allergy free foods.

Absolutely pleased with the service, food, and price. They set up, they cleaned up, and let us take home leftover food. Guests loved the food and there was plenty of it. Staff was very pleasant and responsive. Dana was great to work with - even accommodated for last minute add-ons to the guest #. Pricing was simple and clear. Could not be happier and would definitely recommend Classic Catering.

Classic Catering is absolutely AMAZING!!! Our guests raved about the food! They were a great value and it was great to have them help with the clean up and everything. I was happy we were able to pick up the decor ahead of time. They made it so easy and took care of so much. We even got to keep all of the leftovers!!!!

Classic was absolutely wonderful; from the minute we contacted them to the end of the wedding night. I could not be more happy with them. Dana always responded to my emails very quickly, they were flexible especially when our plans changed, and the food was delicious. A lot of our guests commented on how good the food was, especially the mashed potatoes. To top it off, their prices are very reasonable. I would definitely recommend them to anyone who is looking for awesome cater in the Twin Cities.

This was by far one of the easiest vendors to work with for my wedding. Dana was so helpful and friendly. I had a few extra people for the tasting and she was more than accommodating, last minute I asked to come in to finalize everything and she made it happen. The day of the wedding the food was so good! It's always a toss up with wedding food but we had a lot of compliments on it.

Classic Catering was so easy to work with. It was reasonably priced. The food was not quite as delicious as our tasting, but it was still good. Our food could have been a little warmer but that was our fault because our toasts went long and we ate about 20-30 minutes later than we told them. They really went above and beyond with help setting up and cutting our very frozen ice cream cakes. The staff was exceptional and the price was right. We also were able to bring our leftovers home which fed many people for a few days afterwards.

Classic Catering by far was the best value for my dollar. The meals were within my budget and on top of their prices, I got a little help with them offering free centerpieces. For every email I sent, I received a response in less than 24hrs and some, within the hour. Made things so much easier for me when trying to coordinate things.

Everyone was thrilled with the food we still hear about how great it was! People said it was the best food they have had at a wedding. We got the four cheese penne and Garlic herb butter chicken we have very picky eaters in our group and they don’t eat pasta but they all loved the penne. The staff the day of was great and made sure everything was what we expected. Dana was the one who helped us from the first tasting and was at our wedding too she was so helpful every time we called her and answered all our crazy questions. We got to bring all the left overs home which was wonderful to not have to cook the next few days.

Food was awesome and a great value. The staff was helpful (well worth it to have somebody onsite until the end of the evening). They accomidated every request we had, and were helpful in so many ways with the full set up of our reception.

When I started researching caterers for my wedding I knew I wanted to start with Classic Catering. I've had friends use them and I've used them for work parties and I know they do a stellar job. They were easy to work with from the initial contact to the free tasting to ironing out details to all their help on the day of the wedding. They are true pros and know how a wedding should flow and made mine flow perfectly. My husband and I chose an Italian Buffet and we were very happy with the quality and service provided by Classic Catering and their staff. I highly recommend them.

Not only were they the most affordable caterer in the area, the food was FANTASTIC and they include a lot of non-food perks as well! My guests (who have been to a lot of weddings) said it was the best wedding food they've ever had. They even include linens, place settings, centerpieces, a fountain, and will cut and serve the cake (for free, even). Their staff was friendly and accomodating as well. Very professional. By far the best value of any place in the area. If I have any large event again, they're the first I'll be calling.

Dana was excellent to work with helpful, accomadating and her staff the day of the wedding was great. We recieved so many compliments about how good the food was. The cost was very reasonable with the amount of food and extras that came with the price. I cannot think of anything I was not happy with and neither could my guests.

We were happy with every aspect of the Catering service. The food was delicious and we were shocked at how much we took home! The selections were priced appropriately and the service at the event was very professional. We couldn't have been happier.

First off Classic Catering will not rip you off. They have so many incredible food options which are not overly expensive! We had a buffet style which was beautifully decorated and they provided beverages including water, coffee, tea, and they even let us have hot chocolate and no extra fee! The food was delicious!! I was very happy with our choice and I recommend them to you all brides :)

Oh My God...where to start?! Classic Catering was fantastic! When we initially sat down with them, we were served a TABLE full of food. It made it very difficult to make choices! We decided to go with the buffet, which we initially were against. But Classic Catering does a wonderful job with the setup and making it look very elegant. The cost was over $1k cheaper than any other vendor we looked into...and the food was better than the rest! Majority of our guests stated that the food was the best they had ever had at a wedding, including weddings with plated meals! The mashed potatos were by far the favorite...we also had roast beef at a carving station, chicken cordon bleu, green beans, fresh fruit, salad...Oh! And did I mention that offer center pieces that are INCLUDED in the price?! There is also NO cake cutting fee!!! The service was GREAT and far exceeded our expectations! I would recommend Classic Catering to anyone, and will use them again if we ever need a caterer!

I cannot say enough about this vendor. They were very responsive to work with from day one. They food tasting went great. We felt good about working in our budget and NEVER felt pushed to get more. On-site service was great too - the team introduced themselves to us and were very nice. Food was great. Would use again in any capacity for sure!

They were only the best. Not only did they show up on time, but everything was ready to go and the staff was professional. It's a great bargin and you get to take the leftover food with you!

Great catering service, they were prompt, friendly and did an excellent job setting up and getting everything ready. There were three staff members at our wedding, but they way the effeceintly did everything I was sure there was more. The table settings looked very nice and buffet was displayed beautifully. Food tasted very good and was a hit.

Classic Catering was wonderful to work with in the planning process. No matter how many small details or questions I asked, they were happy to answer my questions and help. They did not charge extra for all of the small stuff such as cutting and serving cake or helping to decorate the reception tables. Guests are still commenting on the food at the reception a month after our wedding. The price was great as well. The 4.5 on flexibility is because there were some minor things during the initial planning process that came up -- they must have been very minor as I can not recall what they are today -- that led me to believe they were inflexible. Other than that very minor memory, overall Classic Catering was one of the best vendors we had -- They were excellent!!

We received more compliments on the food at our reception than any other wedding I've attended. It was so good! I have told everyone I know that is getting married about Classic Catering - amazing service and like I said, the food was wonderful!

We used Classic Catering for our wedding. Great food, great service, great staff! We got many compliments on the food from our guests. I thought it was all even better from when we did the taste testing! The beef brisket was wonderful! I would have given a 5 star overall rating but the beef brisket ran out before everyone got through the buffet line so some weren't able to have any. The staff sure knew what they were doing! Water carafes were always full, dishes were cleared promptly. The bar staff was friendly and accommodating.

We hired Classic to cater our wedding. We looked at several similar caterers but Classic was by far, the best value for the money. The food was delicious and beautifully presented, and the staff friendly and courteous. I recommend them to all my friends with high regards!

We stumbled upon Classic Catering when searching for budget-friendly caterers and we were so THRILLED with how everything turned out. Classic Catering was not part of our venues preferred caterers which so we hesitated in booking them, but a few of the reasons we decided to choose Classic Catering were:
1) the ability to offer real china for a minimum charge
2) NO cake cutting fees (we were amazed at how much other companies would charge for this)
3) the option to use some of their decor as centerpieces for NO CHARGE. We used a mirror, a globe vase, and candle votives on every table. Mixed with our own flowers and some painted wine bottles, we were incredibly happy with the simple but classic feel of the centerpieces.

Perhaps most importantly, we received MULTIPLE compliments from our guests about how the food tasted. We went with carved ham and tortellini for our main dishes and both were very well received. We were a little worried about these choices as we changed our mind last minute and didn't have a chance to taste them before the reception, but they were absolutely delicious and we have no complaints. If you provide tupperware or containers, you are also able to take home any leftovers.

The few interactions I had with the staff onsite were pleasant. They were very patient and accommodating even when we decided at 4:30 that we wanted to move up our dinner time to 5:00 instead of 5:30 (although for the sake of the staff please don't use us as an excuse to do the same to these hard workers!).

All in all we are very pleased that we opted out of the preferred cater list and went with Classic Catering instead.

Classic Catering was great to work with. They offered the vegetarian meal we were looking for at an affordable price. Although we didn't get the "local/organic" choice we initially looking for we are so happy to have used Classic Catering. The were very efficient, and allowed us to take home our left overs.

Classic Catering was very nice to work with and was always quite responsive to my questions throughout the planning process. On the day of the event, the staff that worked our event were courteous and helpful. I only rate quality of service lower because I was disappointed in one of the dishes we ordered. Our fetuccine alfredo tasted nothing like what we had in the tasting and got cold very fast. Otherwise, I would say the event was a success.

Classic Catering

Classic Catering provided high-quality, delicious food at a reasonable price and we got a ton of compliments from our guests on the entrees and sides we served! They also let us bring tupperwares and packaged up any leftovers for us to take home. Classic Catering also offered linens, serveware packages, etc at different levels of cost and so we loved that we were able to take care of all dinner foods and table setup in one go. Their bar service was fantastic and the bartenders did a great job serving our guests. Lastly, they cut and served our cake (from Nothing Bundt Cakes) at no extra charge. There was a little confusion during setup on our wedding day, but this was quickly alleviated and they did an awesome job.

Overall they were a great vendor to work with, however the food was not nearly as good as it was at the tasting although wedding food never is. They were very easy to work with and even helped with the set up and take down of tables and decorations at the reception. They planned the tasting around our schedule and they were the best of the 3 tastings we went to. They were within our price range and didnt have very many crazy add ons like the other ones did. I would recommend them to anyone looking for a reasonablely priced caterer with decent food and a wonderful staff.

Classic catering is an undiscovered gem! Their food is all made from scratch, and was delicious. On top of that, their prices were totally reasonable - that's what sold us on them. For a sirloin steak meal w/ garlic mashed potatoes, salad, fruit, green beans, corn, assorted breads, punch and coffee, we payed around $15 bucks a plate!

They also serve your cake for no extra charge - our only disappointment was they served personal wedding cake (the one we cut, and were planning on freezing). That seems like something a caterer should know not to do.

Other than that, we were totally happy with them! Easy to work with, great food, great price.

We really enjoyed working with classic catering! Dana was very helpful and always responded to emails and questions in a timely fashion. We liked the variety of foods to choose from and the outcome of our buffet at our wedding. We also really liked the food and our guests gave numerous compliments about it! We were very happy with the presentation, napkin colors, and additional package options presented!

Had a ton of compliments on how amazing the food was. We did a buffet dinner with Chicken Cordon Bleu and Roast Beef & Gravy. The serving staff however wasn’t as exceptional. Our day-of coordinators ended up busing almost all of the tables.

I was a little disappointed that they screwed up my order! I know I had become a bridezilla when I got upset that they served streamed baby carrot instead of my buttered corn that I had ordered...Other than that Dana was very nice to work with. She was always ready to answer my questions or give me advice. I thought the price was reasonable compared to some of the others we had checked out and everyone that I saw after our wedding said that the food was delicious and the buffet was set up beautifully!

Overall the vendor was good. However, the main course ran out with about 20 people left - which was embarassing. We were reimbursed for the issue, but you just can't undo that! Great food though!

I will start with the pros. GREAT value for great food. Our guests were very impressed with the quality of the food. You can also bring home leftovers, which is hard to find with caterers but is a huge selling point-I mean you paid for it, right? They also offer bar service so they are a one stop shop for food and drink. Dana was great to work with and very quick in getting back to me whenever I had a question.

They were, however, late to my wedding. In their defense, there was alot of road construction that day. However, since they had the linens and the globes for our centerpieces, we were more or less at a standstill until they got there-which no one wants or can really afford time wise on their wedding day. I myself did not receive an apology, though they explained to my (husband why they were late (but he does not recall an actual apology either). My main tiff is that they ran out of almost every kind of booze! They were out of Captain Morgan within the first hour after serving! Throughout the night they continued to run out of different booze, which became increasingly frustrating to myself and my guest. I would recommend them for food but def not bar service.

Overalll the event turned out well. We were very disappointed that the potatoes we ordered (duchess) were not at all like we tasted. They had no seasoning/cheese, like the ones we had at the tasting. Also, we had confirmed to have the house salad un-dressed, but it showed up dressed. Even after I asked the server during the wedding to not dress the remaining salad, I recieved fully dressed salad as leftovers (so I know they dresses the remaining)... obviously not edible salad after sitting with dressing overnight as well. Also, although they allow you to take the extra food, the servers placed all the food in one cooler, both hot and cold with no ice... even though there was a visible refrigerator at the site where the extras could have been put to cool. This ruined all the cool stuff and the meats obviously didn't cool trapped in a cooler with no ice as well. Classic Catering could improve greatly with just a little more attention to detail. If you decide to work with them get all the details written out from your first tasting, as they don't have you meet them in person again.

We had a fair experience with Classic Catering overall. The tasting went well, our questions were answered within a week (which was okay for me because all of my questions were months before the actual wedding, however; that might be troublesome for the more last minute brides out there), and the food was delicious!

The only thing that didn't sit with me was their level of professionalism. I asked the point of contact for Classic Catering long ahead of time when the the table cloths would be set up by. She responded by saying the set up would be done by 1pm, which was perfect because that was when we could start setting up at our venue. However, they didn't put the table cloths on the tables until I asked them to and that didn't happen until 2 (why didn't I ask until 2? As the bride and as my own wedding planner; please understand my head was in a thousand different places going at 1000 mph)! My ceremony began at 3 and my family was helping me do all the set ups. The worse part is; almost all of my decorations were on the tables! So in order to set up my decorations, we needed the table cloths first! It's frustrating enough and stressful enough planning your own wedding, but it gets even worse when people who should be professionals aren't pulling in their end of the deal. Secondly, during my reception, Classic Catering had one of their employees come up to me 3 TIMES to ask if I was going to pay the bill (when I already had paid in full!). It was beyond me why they would come up to me during my WEDDING and not prior to the wedding day or after the wedding day to ask me about the balance. In fact, they shouldn't even have to ask me about the balance as they should be organized enough to know whether its been taken care of or not yet. Would I go with them again? No, because the lack of professionalism definitely was a biggie for me.

We picked Classic Catering because our venue would only allow one of 3 caterers. The first was WAY to expensive, the second was pizza place which we had already experienced poor service (and who wants pizza anyway?!). So it kind of defaulted to Classic. They were alright, I still felt that it was more than I would have wanted to pay. And they had difficulty was a lactose-intolerant menu (I.e. No dairy - Who wants the Groom and Bride to get sick to their stomachs on their own wedding night?!)

Classic Catering of MN - Unfortunate

We began working with Classic Catering of Minnesota prior to the events of COVID-19. We thought booking a year in advance so that we would be well prepared for our wedding day would be a great idea. In order to secure the date, we were required to pay a nearly $700 deposit in advance.

Fast-forward, COVID-19 is prevalent in the entire country, all events and gatherings have been federally mandated to cease operations, no one is allowed to have any gathering personal or professional, which means all venues are shut down. At this time, we spoke with all of the vendors we had secured for our wedding and were advised to reschedule for another date in the future. We thought, COVID-19 won’t last THAT long will it? So we decided to reschedule all vendors including Classic Catering of Minnesota, the date we chose was nearly a year away.

Continuing in the future again, it’s now only a couple months away from the wedding day, COVID-19 is still prevalent and the variety of mutated versions are continuing to wreak havoc in our country. Again, we contacted every one of our vendors and expressed our concerns with holding the wedding. At this time, all events and gatherings are still restricted to an extremely small number of attendees or not allowed all together. With this knowledge in hand, every vendor we spoke with authorized us to refund our deposits. All vendors acknowledged that they would also be unable to meet the expectations outlined in our contracts due to COVID-19. Now, that is of course with the exception of Classic Catering of Minnesota. The only option they would allow is to continue rescheduling indefinitely and cancelling repeatedly, which quite frankly feels like an impossible task to do with COVID-19.

So I can’t personally speak for Classic Catering of Minnesota’s ability to fulfill their obligations, their overall quality, or anything else because at the original ‘rescheduled’ date of our event, restrictions were still in place and both Classic Catering of Minnesota / Myself would not have been allowed to hold the event. All I can speak for, is that they were prompt in their communications via e-mail.

I implore you to consider using another company or securing language in your contract that allows for a refund if an act of god or world wide pandemic occurs, otherwise you too could be out of $700.

So, in all honesty, I can’t recommend their services to anyone at this time. My personal experience and feelings towards this company are simple. I feel like they robbed me of $700 to secure a date which they would not have been able to uphold due to federal restrictions. I have literally nothing to show for it other than this review, an e-mail that basically says tough shit thanks for the money, and my continued word of mouth to everyone I know to avoid this company at all costs.
