Finding and hiring Civic Photos was the absolute best thing we did to make all our wedding photography dreams come true. They listened to everything we wanted for our wedding and went above and beyond. The pictures they captured of my husband, and I are my favorite and even helped us come up with the timeline to get the best lighting and poses for photos. I cannot say enough amazing things about these wonderful photographers (Barett and his wife). The photos were absolutely breath taking and they delivered them to us in record time. They are extremely professional and easy to work with. Definitely recommend! -

As the title says, whatever photography need you have upcoming you need to talk to Barrett! Incredibly professional in all aspects of what you need from your photographer! We reached out to Barrett after deciding our previous photographer wasn't to our liking and he quickly calmed our worries about making the switch from his beginning presentation. We loved his photography style as it was very editorial, made for magazines! Which made sense as part of his presentation included magazine spreads that previous couples were in.
Barrett himself is very detailed oriented, which is what you need on your wedding day. His wife, Yorlin, was also a wonderful assistant and second shooter. She has quite the calming influence and was an immense help to my wife during the wedding day.
Back to the photography, its very clear that Barrett is very intentional with every photograph he takes. The attention to every lighting detail, background, color, etc is evident in the photos he returns. He was also able to give us next day sneak peeks on some of the photos and gave us our whole wedding photos TWO DAYS after our wedding! TWO DAYS! Unheard of, but it just speaks to how Barrett pays attention to the setup of the photos before taking them, allowing him to have minimal touch up or editing in the photos.
We can't thank Barrett and Yorlin for far exceeding our any expectations that we could possibly have. You can't possibly go wrong with this husband/wife duo. Be prepared to be blown away by your photos. Your photos are something that you should be completely happy with, as it'll last a lifetime. Sadly, we won't have another wedding for Barrett to shoot with us, so we are hoping this review will give you the final push you need to book Civic Photos.

LOOK NO FURTHER!! Civic photos was an absolute joy to work with throughout our engagement and wedding. TLDR: Civic photos is fabulous for quality photos on a budget, gave us unlimited time, and were quick turnaround on getting photos back to us. Would 100% use them again! We hired Barett and Yorlin after a terrible engagement shoot with a different vendor, and we're so glad we did. We did a package for an engagement shoot, bridals, and our wedding/reception. One of the reasons we hired them was because they did not put a time limit on how long we had them during our wedding day. They were there from the beginning until the end, and I didn't have to worry about how much it would cost us if they were there for an extra hour or whatever. One less thing to worry about. For the engagement shoot, we took photos near rice university, Herman park, and downtown Houston with three changes of clothes. We even brought our dogs to join in! Barett did this shoot, and we were incredibly comfortable - even my husband (who's normally a little awkward with photos) looked incredibly natural in them!
Barett made sure to get all sorts of angles with various lighting, you'd think we went to several different venues. Both Barett and Yorlin did my bridals, which took place at the Junior League of Houston. Their eye for detail was so impressive — they would fix and floof my dress as needed I had a large dress so it was very appreciated), have me stand in certain spots to capture certain lighting. In fact, my favorite photo from this entire shoot was taken on a couch in a bathroom! Barett said to trust them, and their vision for the shot was spectacular.
We did our getting ready photos at Whitehall, ceremony at the Co-cathedral of the Sacred Heart, and reception at the Junior League. They got all the details in my bridal suite as well as the groom's getting ready photos. We didn't really have a way of getting to the church — Yorlin and Barett gave me a ride in my dress and everything! The cathedral has strict guidelines for photographers, and Barett and Yorlin were great at respecting/complying with those rules WHILE still getting all the shots! My husband and I had time during the cocktail hour for photos together with Barett, while Yorlin photographed our guests and the details at the cocktail hour and the room at our reception. They were very discreet in taking photos throughout the reception, which was really appreciated. I could focus on
conversations with our friends and family, but if we ever needed a quick photo, one of the two was always there! We went on our honeymoon for two weeks after the wedding, and all our edited photos were ready for us by the time we came back! Not to mention, they gave us every photo they took of the day — it was about 7,000 photos! I prefer this to having a photographer send me some but not all and letting me pick which one we like better. Of course, after all three shoots Barett sent us sneak peaks just a few hours later. He even had our wedding published in Modern Luxury Houston magazine, which was really neat! We loved Civic Photos, and I highly recommend them and would definitely use them again. -

Great Experience
Civic photos met and exceeded my expectations for my wedding! My husband and I are not the most photogenic people out there but all our photos turned out fantastic. Barett does a great job of making you feel comfortable in front of the camera. He took our engagements photos, my bridals and did our wedding. He was responsive and communicative the entire process. Even let us reschedule our engagement photos the night before because it was going to be 40-50 degrees during the shoot. His wife joined him on the wedding day to help shoot my girls and I. She was wonderful and they both had a great vision and got all the shots we needed and more. They were flexible with ideas from me and worked well with the videographer I hired. Could not have asked for a better duo to help capture my wedding day! -

Beautiful Photos
Barett took our engagement and wedding photos. The pictures are beautiful and exactly what we hoped for! During the engagement shoot, he was very responsive in texting back and helped us decide where we wanted to have our photoshoot. During the wedding, both him and his wife wanted to utilize the beautiful scenic areas of the venue and helped guide what kind of poses would work best for the entire bridal party. Their goal was to create a beautiful shot and they made sure little details/items would not be seen in the mirrors or in the background. We really do appreciate that! We are also impressed how quick he is on sending sneak peek photos and sending back our wedding album! We had our wedding a week ago and we already have our wedding photos! We are glad we chose Civicphotos! -

Consistently Excellent
After working with CivicPhotos for my sister's wedding, I knew that they would be my first choice for my wedding this year. The team is patient when we had to start photos later due to space constraints in our hotel as we got ready. They are very fast, efficient, and creative. They made sure to capture so many special moments that my husband and I hadn't thought of but love so much. I appreciate them making sure we had some time to eat during the cocktail hour as well! -

Spectacular! Barett and his lovely wife and partner were essential to the success of our daughters wedding.
We met Barett on zoom and knew instantly that he would be perfect for our daughter. He has been involved with the bride and groom through engagement photos, bridal pictures, the rehearsal dinner and finally the wedding. He is quick, organized and a great director. He got absolutely beautiful memory keeping shots. And he delivered them all less than 5 days after the wedding…. All perfect! Barett and Yorlin were awesome to work with. We booked a wedding package with Civic Photos that included a bridal portrait session, an all day wedding session for the day of and a wedding album. We chose to have an engagement session instead of a bridal portrait session which wasn’t a problem. I appreciated not having a time limit on the day of our wedding. Barett and Yorlin were flexible with when and where we started shooting and they stayed present throughout the entirety of the wedding capturing it all. They make an awesome team and it was especially refreshing on our wedding day.
Throughout our correspondence, Barett was extremely professional and prompt in his responses. And I’m beyond satisfied with the amount of time it took to receive ALL of our wedding images. (Only 6 days!!)

Barett and his wife were an absolute joy to work with. We used them for our engagement photos, small covid ceremony, and our large wedding. I can’t say enough good things about these too. Barett will respond to your text, call, or email almost instantly. If you have planned a wedding, then you know how valuable that is. He gives direction well and has the eye of a true artist. For someone who doesn’t love their picture being taken, this was a huge relief. The photos are beautiful, and on top of that, he gets them to you in a matter of days (as in less than a week!) There is also something to be said about witnessing a husband and wife collaborate so beautifully while you yourself are building a marriage. We had SUCH a fantastic experience with CivicPhotos! They were incredibly professional and easy to work with. CivicPhotos has an impeccable artistic vision to make sure your day is expertly captured. My husband and I booked them for our engagement photos, bridal portraits and for our wedding, and we cannot recommend them enough! Our wedding had to be moved due to COVID and Barrett and his wife were so understanding and accommodating. I lost weight the week of our wedding, and my dress was dragging a lot. Barrett’s wife helped me with bustling my dress and securing it with safety pins so that I could dance with my guests, and it was so so helpful! The photos turned out so beautiful — they are beyond my highest expectations! I am so pleased with our photos and with their professionalism. We received a sneak peak of our wedding photos a day after our wedding, and they promptly sent us the rest (fully edited) barely a week later, with a physical version on an USB key as well. I love how willing they are to share all photos of our big day with their gorgeous editing style! I cannot wait to get these photos framed and displayed in our home! There is a reason that they are award winners in Houston. The photographer was the most important vendor for us, and I am so glad that we chose well. Barrett and his wife Yorlin are gems. Barrett’s infectious positivity and enthusiasm puts everyone in a great mood, and that joy came through in all our pictures. He is so creative and is so good at composing pictures. None of our pictures look cookie cutter, and I feel confident that he can make any backdrop look amazing. Moreover, his wife has such incredible attention to detail. During my bridal portraits, she was always adjusting the train of my dress and would tactfully redirect my hands if they looked awkward. I appreciated her kindness so much! They both work so hard to deliver perfect pictures, even after the tenth hour of taking photos. They were also a hit at our tea ceremony. All our guests loved how attentive and patient Barrett was. If it wasn’t already enough that their personalities are dynamite, their turnaround time for photos is unprecedented. He gave me beautiful edited bridal portraits on the same day he took them and gave us our entire wedding album 5 days after our wedding. We were truly blessed to have them, for everything ran smoothly. The two of them are great at adjusting to changing timelines, and our wedding would not have been as fun without them. -

Heart racing, emotions swelling a wedding is an thrilling roller coaster from beginning to end. I'm so glad we hiring Civic Photos, and completely removed the stress of hoping you have "great wedding pictures." No college barista trying to make a little extra money on the side or an amateur. Instead a professional company who understand what the value is in pictures. It's true your memory will always remember that day, but it's the little things you forget. The things you didn't see like what really goes on in the other room, where the bride and all her cheerful friends are but you can't go anywhere near or you will get yelled at. So, in essence I highly recommend CivicPhotos as your special occasions photographer, for us it was our wedding but I would unquestionably use them for any other special day to remember. Civic Photos - More than I Expected
I hired Civic Photos of Houston, TX for my engagement photo session and wedding pictures. I met Barett and Yorlin at a friend's wedding, after which Barett shot my engagements. I was impressed with his turnaround time, attention to detail, and just absolutely breathtaking shots he captured. I decided to hire him as my wedding photographer and he and Yorlin did not disappoint. They shot my bridals as well as wedding day coverage. In each session, they both went above and beyond.
Bridals- I found it challenging to schedule bridals during a time that fit my schedule, the venue's availability and my hair & makeup artists' schedule. In terms of coordination, they were the most flexible, which I really appreciated. I had no one to go with me for bridals due to the venue only being available during working hours. Yorlin assisted with my dress, shoes, and even brought me water. They also printed a large 30x40 print from the bridal session to be displayed on the day of, which I got so many compliments on.
Wedding Day- Barett and Yorlin were with us from 1:30pm until 11:30pm. They are not only true artists in terms of photography, but they both understand the urgency, and need to adhere to strict schedules on the wedding day. In all sessions, they had my photos turned around within days. Every moment was captured. Every small detail and pop of color was captured. There is literally nothing these two missed. They have done an outstanding job in terms of quality, customer service, flexibility and timeliness. As a result of their attention to detail, speed and accuracy, I have some of the most beautiful photos to preserve some of the best memories of my life. I recommend them to every person I know who needs a photographer. -

One of the things we were most looking forward to about our small wedding and unique venue was the photos. We wanted shots that were as unique, creative, and unexpected as our other wedding choices. Where do I even start my husband and I are so thankful for Barett!!! He is very talented and is very passionate about his work! Sisnve rhe beginning he communicated with me on the timeline for our engagement photoshoot and wedding he has a timeline for us to make sure to catch every special moment and his work is hands down the beat.
