We chose City BBQ to cater our wedding and it was truly the best decision we could have made. We had the pleasure of working with Mariam Ahmad, who went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect. She was responsive, accommodating with every request, and genuinely cared about giving us the best possible experience.
On the wedding day, the City BBQ catering team was outstanding. They were professional, polite, and did an excellent job serving our guests while making sure everyone was well taken care of.
And the food... absolutely phenomenal!! It somehow managed to be even better than our tasting. We received compliment after compliment from guests saying it was the best wedding food they had ever had.
We are so thankful for everything Mariam and the City BBQ team did for us, and we would highly recommend them to anyone looking for wedding catering.City Barbeque's reply:

City BBQ was flexible when a recent wedding we had together was nearly postponed due to an emergency. Not only that, but they were responsive leading up to the wedding, and the team that showed up took excellent care of the couple and their guests. Excellent service throughout the planning experience and the day. Plus the food was delicious! -

From start to finish City BBQ was excellent, and our contact, Mariam, was extremely professional and helpful. We had the majority of guests coming to the wedding from out of state or traveling over 2 hours to the wedding. The bride and groom wanted the rehearsal dinner to be a buffet in which people could come and hang out and socialize with them and a relaxed atmosphere before the wedding. Mariam worked with us from providing information and working with us to solidify the details - from delivery, to how many servers we wanted if we wanted any, to where to donate leftovers. The night of the rehearsal dinner was perfect. It was the most stress free evening and exactly what we wanted for my son and his soon-to-be wife. The food was laid out, constantly replenished, and tasted great!!! There was enough options to accommodate a couple of food allergies we had to juggle too. The gentleman who acted as our server was nice, professional and extremely helpful throughout the whole evening!!City Barbeque's reply:

Great Communication
We had our daughters rehearsal dinner booked with city bbq. We were in constant communication with Mariam and she was always quick to respond. We had to change our menu last minute for some additional picky eaters and she accepted the challenge and made it work. The team was nice and efficient. Everyone liked the food! We had pulled pork , chicken, green beans with bacon and three cheese Mac and cheese! I’m vegetarian so they were able to make me black bean burger and side of green beans with no bacon! Staff was attentive and always made sure me and my husband were good! -

If you're on the hunt for a great, authentic NC meal for your wedding guests, look no further. City BBQ is incredible. The team was a dream to work with from the start to finish. The display was elegant and the food was incredible. Guests kept telling me how much they loved the food. A seriously prefect wedding caterer. They even sent us home with goodie bags for a midnight snack! -

We love City Barbeque as a restaurant and they were great to work with as a wedding vendor. We ordered the pulled chicken, smoked sausage, potato salad, mac and cheese, tea, lemonade, and water. The food was delicious and we loved the presentation. We provided our own plates and cutlery. The staff was helpful and prepared two to-go meals for my husband and me at the end of the night. I am happy with our decision to cater through City Barbeque and would use them again!City Barbeque's reply:

We love City Barbecue's food and we wanted them to cater our wedding from day one. Our first coordinator, Lisa, was excellent. A few months after paying the deposit and signing the contract, I emailed Lisa with a question and her email bounced. After checking her LinkedIn, I saw she was no longer with the company. I was surprised that we weren't sent an email informing us of the change and letting us know who our new coordinator was. Nevertheless, I went to their website and found contact info for our new coordinator, Jasmine.
Jasmine was also great to work with. We did our tasting with her and finalized our menu. Again, amazing to work with. Several months later, I emailed Jasmine with a question and again, another email bounced. Again, we weren't informed that Jasmine left or who our new coordinator was. I went through the process all over again trying to find our new contact, which was Paula.
In the beginning, Paula was great to work with. But about 3.5 weeks before our wedding, I received an aggressive email from Paula informing me that our final payment was overdue, which was followed by another email with a copy of our invoice. I was working out of town in Seattle this particular week, and I emailed Paula back asking why I received this email when it didn't line up with the payment due dates we had discussed. She then proceeded to tell me that this was an error on her part because there was another bride named Alex that she confused me with. Also, after looking at the updated invoice, I noticed Paula hadn't updated it with the latest headcount and still charging us for nearly double the amount of people PLUS charging us a cake cutting fee when we were serving cupcakes, which she was aware of because there was a note about it on our invoice. But, given the stress of the situation, I ended up bursting into tears. I asked Paula for her manager's contact info, which she passed on.
I then spoke with her manager, Terri. We had a good conversation and Terri fixed the invoice and told me that our final payment would be due October 7th instead so that we had the most accurate headcount possible.
On October 5th, I received an email from Paula stating that our payment was past due and we needed to pay ASAP. Given my last conversation with Terri, I was shocked to say the least. Not only that, but the invoice Paula sent did not line up with the invoice Terri sent me. I replied to the email asking her to address the discrepancy. I also called Terri asking what was going on. Again, this made me cry and this nightmare wasn't over.
I asked Terri to take over our account, and she corrected the mistakes on the invoice, which Terri said was due to the system and not a mistake on Paula's part. I paid on October 7th as agreed, and the food was good.
Nevertheless, had I known that this would have been my experience with City Barbecue, I would have gone with someone else. Paula's aggression and lack of professionalism made me cry twice in the weeks leading up to my wedding, and both situations were completely unnecessary. I hope City Barbecue can train their coordinators on empathetic customer service and double check their invoices and payment schedule before harassing the customer.City Barbeque's reply:

We have a new wedding event specialist that has been trained to take all these things into account and offer a seamless beautiful experience. We wish you well and hope you will give us another chance on any other celebrations or gatherings in the future.
