Shira truly made our wedding ceremony experience beyond special, from the very first Zoom call all the way to the big day. She is warm, thoughtful, and genuine, and approached every step of the process with true care and interest in us as a couple. People were raving about her after our wedding, and we couldn't agree more - she brought the love, and made everyone feel apart of it! Cantor Shira was the perfect officiant for our small beach wedding. She brought a unique combination of Jewish ceremony leading authority, an egalitarian approach to a traditionally gendered event, incredible vocal talent, and lightheartedness to match the goofy, casual vibe of our wedding.
We really appreciated, in particular, how she took the time to read aloud our entire Ketubah (including in Hebrew) during our ceremony to make sure we felt deeply the significance behind our marriage. It was also really nice how she created little improvised moments of magic, like gathering our family and friends around us during the 7 blessings, which led into a makeshift Hora. Small decisions like that made our wedding truly special. Oh and her voice! It gives us chills thinking about how beautifully she sang throughout the ceremony. Her singing was worth the price of admission alone :)
Prior to the wedding, she took the time to get to know us over several calls, including leading through some pre-marriage counseling. It was nice how she started each session asking us “what’s happened since we last talked?” and helping us work through things happening in our lives that she hadn’t planned for that session. She really shepherded us through the whole process and set us up for success to start our marriage. She was also very organized - we knew we could rely on her to make sure everything was in order for the big day. Cantor Shira brought so much to our wedding, and we would highly recommend her to anyone else looking for an awesome cantor for theirs.Cantor Shira Ginsburg's reply:

Cantor Shira is amazing! We started working with her about a year before our wedding and we could tell from the first zoom how special she is. Our early sessions together were deeply meaningful in bringing my husband and I closer to our Jewish heritage and helped us continue to align our vision for our marriage. The wedding day itself was so perfect. Everyone raved about how incredible our ketubah signing and ceremony was. Through personalized one-on-one Zoom sessions, she guided us through thoughtful conversations that—despite nearly a decade of dating—led us to reflect on new dimensions of our relationship and brought us even closer together.
She was incredibly responsive, both to us and to our wedding planners, and instrumental in preparing us for the big day. When unexpected delays disrupted our timeline, Shira’s calm and reassuring presence immediately put us at ease.
During the ceremony, Shira struck the perfect balance—keeping our guests engaged while crafting a moment that was deeply meaningful and entirely focused on us. Cantor Shira spent so much time preparing us for our wedding. We are two women in an interfaith relationship, and Shira introduced me, the non-Jewish partner, to every spiritual aspect of our ceremony, explaining it in layman's terms and also incorporated traditions from my Cuban background seamlessly. She was more than our officiant, she became a mentor and guiding light through the entire wedding process -- she did not hesitate to do a 45 minute call with us just to talk through family stress ahead of the wedding. Words don't do her ceremony justice. It was organized, thoughtful, and just beautiful. Full disclosure, I have known Shira and her family for many years - then one day reached out to her to ask her for a favor.
My father had received a terminal cancer diagnosis and what was my distant wedding date had rapidly accelerated. We needed to perform a ceremony in just 2 weeks, and Shira did not hesitate upon receiving my call, and we are all very glad that she didn’t.
She truly made our special day, truly special. Her beautiful voice, from years as cantor in NYC & recording artist helped elevate spirts and make our quickly pulled together day, incredibly memorable.
She led a wonderful ceremony that my family members still talk about and brought smiles to everyone in attendance despite the somber undertones of the day. Asking Shira to perform our ceremony was one of the very best decisions we’ve made.
My wife and I (and now our entire family!) strongly recommend Shira. Sure there are many options, but there is no one as outstanding in every single regard like she is. From our first meeting, we were impressed by Cantor Shira’s knowledge and thoughtfulness. We appreciate all the time she spent with us prior to the wedding, educating us, as well as guiding us and answering all of our questions. She helped us to feel prepared for our big day! Cantor Shira took a special interest in getting to know us, which was clearly evident during our wedding ceremony. The ceremony was exactly as we had hoped for and more--it was warm and personal, and the way she captured us both individually and as a couple was perfect. Shira helped make our wedding day joyful, smooth and memorable. Shira took the time to get to know us both through pre marital meetings, provided timelines for our wedding day to help us understand what was going on and was able to explain to family and friends the significance and meaning of our Ketubah in our private Ketubah signing. Shira made the ceremony interesting, engaging and filled with love, not to mention her voice is incredible! Working with Shira was the best experience ever. Before getting engaged we always thought that our officiant would show up on the day of our wedding, perform the service, and that’s it. We were so happy Shira taught us otherwise. She took the time to connect with my (now) husband and I, facilitates important pre-marital conversations, and provided us with the best guidance ever. Leading up to the big day we knew we were going to be married by someone who genuinely cared about us and understood us and the values we held close to our hearts. To this day we continue to get comments from our wedding guests about how beautiful the ceremony was. Shira was thoughtful, personal, and radiant (not to mentioned HER VOICE IS SPECTACULAR). Shira was one of the best friends we could have during our wedding planning process. She has a wonderful charisma about her that makes her easy to talk to about both the technical and religious aspects of both the wedding ceremony as well as the marriage that it will begin. Meeting with Shira wasn't just easy but we looked forward to it every time - her positive energy is truly infectious, and we found ourselves so happy leaving her office after every appointment with her.
On the day of our wedding, Shira made sure to come early and quickly go through the logistics of our ceremony one last time and even made sure we were able to get some much-needed alone time right before we walked down the aisle. That kind of personal touch was so needed and I will never forget it when I remember our wedding day.
Hiring Shira as an officiant is more than hiring somebody to perform your ceremony, it is hiring a caring person who will make your ceremony and wedding mean the most it can to you as a person. -

Shira is EXCELLENT! She is incredibly knowledgeable about Jewish marriage tradition and ritual but is also very contemporary in her approach. She took the time to understand exactly what my (now) wife and I wanted and made some great suggestions for how to incorporate and approach some other traditions. We had a full Tisch and Bedeken which she coordinated followed by a wonderful ceremony under the chuppah. Shira has a beautiful voice and was a joy to work with. I cannot recommend her more highly. -

She helped us resolve challenges in the planning process and was truly a source of calm throughout. She was very flexible and she was even willing to do our ceremony on a Saturday. She got to know us before hand and it felt as if we had a friend officiating our ceremony. After our ceremony, we had so many people mention how great she was and how well she explained each element of our wedding. Melanie Sent on 10/13/2013Shira is just an all-around amazing woman. She preformed a Jewish Interfaith wedding for my now Husband and I. Words can not describe how much we enjoyed working with her. We worked with her from afar so we had Skype sessions where we got to know each other better and even had some marriage "counseling." We had so many amazing Jewish rituals, even some we didin't know about going into this. She made everyone feel so comfortable and she really is a beautiful person. Even more impressive, every single person (Jewish and non-Jewish) came up to us and told us how beautiful she was, how beautiful her voice was, and how it was the most amazing wedding ceremony they had ever had the pleasure to witness! We plan to keep in touch and visit her at her synagogue sometime in the future. I also have to add that we were in a pickle without a Cantor late in the game due to a cancelation and Shira was able to work with us on the price to make it affordable which was truly a blessing.
