  Cantor Cathy was a delight to work with. She helped us to work out the language for our service to make sure that it was a true reflection of myself and my husband. We had many people outside of the Jewish faith in attendance so she made a special effort to explain and make sure that everyone was comfortable. Many people have mentioned that the words she shared about us as couple and the traditions of the ceremony itself were a highlight of the day... Obviously, I don't want to get married again but if I did I'd have Cathy again.

  When my husband and I decided we wanted to have an interfaith ceremony, we knew we wanted to honor the Jewish traditions I am accustomed to, and also invite our non-Jewish guests and relatives (and my now husband!) to feel connected to our ceremony. We would not have had the first clue about navigating this without Cantor Cathy Lawrence. Cantor Cathy is a pure gem. She took time to get to know us and always listened to our needs, hopes, and concerns, and had incredible insight into crafting a ceremony that was meaningful not only to my husband and me, but also to our families and friends. When I think back to our ceremony, it fills me with so much joy. Cantor Cathy helped us launch our journey into our marriage, and we could not have had a more positive and loving experience.

  Cathy is really special. We loved getting to know her as worked on our ceremony with her. We had an interfaith ceremony and she was so helpful in finding a beautiful balance between the two religions. She is warm and a delight to be around. Our ceremony was hands down our favorite part of our wedding and we had Cathy to thank for that!

  Cantor Cathy Lawrence crafted a bar mitzvah ceremony tailored for our son that was exactly what we had hoped: meaningful, joyful, and instructive. "I can't think of anything she could have done better" says our son, and we could not agree more. Cathy taught him to read and chant from the Torah using a very engaging method and helped him select and learn the prayers and songs in the ceremony. She also spent many hours discussing his interests, service project, and Torah portion, helping him connect the Jewish and secular. His ceremony was more meaningful and beautiful than we could have expected or imagined. We were all moved by the process and beautiful ceremony, and are forever grateful.

  Cantor Cathy Lawrence was absolutely wonderful, from the first time we met through the last moment of our ceremony -
  and well beyond. Every step of the way, Cathy has demonstrated unwavering grace, humor, patience, pragmatism, and diplomacy. On the big day, when I arrived under the chuppa to officially begin the ceremony, with my emotions racing and everything around me a fantastic blur, Cathy kept me grounded with a warmth in her eyes and a knowing smile. I never knew that someone could at once be so spiritual and so down to earth.

  My husband and I found Cathy online--we were looking for a cantor or a rabbi who was willing to officiate a jewish wedding...but on a Saturday evening and with a non-Jewish groom. I liked Cathy's flexible, progressive and warm vibe immediately when I saw her website, but after getting to know her a bit more in person, a description on a website can't do her justice. I reached out to Cathy by email, and she responded very quickly, and we set up a time to talk on the phone. The initial conversation was extremely helpful, as she learned a little more about what we were hoping for in our ceremony and talked us through some different options. She followed up by sending us the foundation for a "script" for the ceremony, which we were happy to use and build off of. But she made it very clear that we were welcome to be as inventive as we wanted and were not beholden to tradition.
  
  We got married in NYC, but actually live out of state and were so grateful that Cathy made time to meet with us in person twice before the wedding when we were in town to prepare. She was clearly interested in getting to know us, which is super comforting when you're bringing someone into your life for this intimate moment. At the second meeting, we walked through the ceremony so that on the day-of, we were totally prepared and comfortable with how things would go. But that said, Cathy's style is such that the ceremony didn't feel stiff or practiced--there was so much warmth and some whimsy and without knowing us extremely well, she really created an atmosphere that was reflective of who we are. We were thrilled with the ceremony, as were our families, including our family members who were not Jewish. Everyone felt included, even if the traditions were not their own. That's a testament both to Cathy's personality, and her willingness to let us shape the experience to fit our families. We couldn't imagine having been married by anyone else.

  We had a co-officiated wedding ceremony and Cathy did a wonderful job officiating. She helped us plan the ceremony and was very flexible and listened to what we wanted. She also was able to make suggestions when we needed guidance to organize the ceremony. She was enthusiastic and warm and we greatly enjoyed her leading our wedding ceremony.

  Cantor Cathy was terrific to work with from start to finish. She is warm, open, perceptive, helpful and creative. We connected with her immediately and enjoyed a wonderful, collaborative process. The end result was a ceremony that felt perfect for us.
  
  We also enjoyed the addition of her very talented sons and their musical ensemble (the NY Troubadours) as part of our ceremony. From a spiritual musical start to a terrific rendition of "I'm a Believer", they were wonderful, and we feel all could not have been better. Our many compliments from our guests confirmed this.

  Cathy Lawrence was a very special part of our daughter's wedding ceremony. Multiple guests commented on how beautiful our daughter and son-in-law's ceremony was. And it truely was a beautiful, well timed and well orchestrated wedding ceremony in an amphitheater surrounded by trees in Stokes State Forest.
  First of all, long before the ceremony she was in close contact with the bride and groom to make sure they had exactly the ceremony they wanted. Since it was a first for all of us, she made sure the ceremony included all the right touches that made it perfect for them, from the music to the ceremonial champagne sabering. She was gentle and loving throughout the ceremony and there was an angelic quality to her that was even evident in the pictures taken during the ceremony- no lie! I would not hesitate to recommend Cathy to anyone needing a celebrant for a wedding, large or intimate.

  Cathy was great in accommodating to our crazy ever changing timing and got us married in the middle of FREEZING Times Square. We were travelling in New York and staying in midtown where food were horrible thus she invite us to her lovely apartment to have one of the best meal in NYC! The whole experience was really fun and adventurous, and we are lucky to have her get us married! Now we can tell everybody at home in Singapore that we had a Jewish wedding! Very cool~~

  Cathy Lawrence is a warm, welcoming, knowledgeable and flexible officiant to work with.   Cantor Cathy was fantastic. She went above and beyond to do something different. I'm Jewish and my now-husband is Hindu. In lieu of having two separate ceremonies we decided to create our own, Hinjew, wedding which combined aspects of both the Jewish and Hindu traditions.   Cantor Cathy Lawrence is so fantastic! I can't say enough wonderful things about the way she helped us to have the most beautiful ceremony. Our wedding was definately the most beautiful day of my life thanks to Cathy. The pictures are fabulous too!

  My husband and I have very different backgrounds. I am white and raised as a reform Jew with interests in Buddhist philosophy, and he is a black christian. We decided it was important for us to have a Jewish wedding, but not so religious that it made anybody in the family uncomfortable (including us!). I came across a recommendation for Cathy after a lot of internet digging, and looking back I am glad I found her. Cathy was sweet and easy to get along with, very open minded, and a good listener. She understood exactly what we were looking for in our ceremony, and worked with us to create a ceremony that met our ideal word for word. She had no problem using or omitting any Jewish traditions, incorporating outside readings and prayers or songs, and was constantly available to talk to us throughout the engagement period. On the wedding day she arrived early and spent some time with my family and I in the bridal suite. The ceremony itself was gorgeous and I feel that it went exactly how my husband and I envisioned it to be. After the wedding Cathy was on top of the paperwork part of getting married, and handled all of the marriage certificate application work with punctuality. Also, her fee was absolutely reasonable, especially considering the phenomenal job she did! We met with some Rabbis who charge twice as much as her. We really love Cathy and definitely recommended her to anybody looking for a Jewish flavored interfaith wedding.

  We can't thank Cathy enough for making our wedding day (and our ceremony) truly amazing. 

It was extremely important to us that in choosing our officiant, we would find someone who was: patient, open (as we are an interfaith couple and wanted to work with an officiant who was willing to craft our ceremony with us), willing to get to know us beforehand so that our ceremony would feel personal, and able to guide us as we discovered exactlywhat we wanted our ceremony to be. Cathy far exceeded all of our expectations. 

We spent sessions over dinner, over emails and over glasses of wine honing in on what "our" ceremony was going to be. Cathy was so gracious, so patient, so knowledgeable and made the process so easy. When our day arrived, she was so emotionally connected to us, it really felt like the person marrying us KNEW us as a couple. It added something really special, moments we will never forget. There was not a dry eye at the ceremony (Cathy too!), and I've never heard so many people comment on how wonderful the officiant was. 

We honestly searched high and low for someone who was willing to work with us on getting the ceremony to be 'ours' -- someone who wasn't stuck in tradition. Thankfully, we found Cathy Lawrence.
