Prettiest Wedding Cake!

Thank you so much for creating our dream wedding cake with traditional Lambeth piping- it fit perfectly in with the elegant hotel wedding vibe we wanted (and the salted caramel filling was delicious as well!)

We cannot thank Jo-Anne and the CAKE team enough!

It was such a joy to meet and work with them. They made everything easy in what could have been a stressful time. We had delicious fun tasting all of the different flavors during the cake tasting. Jo-Anne was able to sketch out our perfect wedding cake design by only asking us a few questions. We really appreciated what felt like special treatment and her personal touches (We love the idea of passing our cake topper down to other generations and hope to be able to do this in the future). Jo-Anne created the most beautiful wedding cake, and our guests could not stop talking about how delicious it was! She also made us feel so special by emailing us on the morning of our wedding. Jo-Anne is truly a special person and baker, and we feel so lucky to have worked with her and her team.

Most delicious, artistic cake!

Jo-Anne made our beautiful wedding cake which not only tasted amazing and included two different flavor combinations (lemon for one slice, salted caramel for another), she incorporated architectural elements of our venue and included trim from my mom's wedding veil (which I also wore)! Absolutely incredibly artistry and experience. Would highly recommend using Cake Chicago for your wedding!

Lovely and yummy experience!

We used CAKE for our wedding. They created a beautiful cake design and AMAZING flavors!! Our guests were raving about our delicious almond cake with tiramisu and mocha filling! We can't wait to have it again on our 1 year wedding anniversary :) Thank you Jo-Anne and CAKE!

Unforgettable Cake Experience!

I cannot say enough great things about Jo-Anne and the experience we had with Cake Chicago for our wedding.

Not only is Jo-Anne incredibly talented and knowledgeable due to years of experience in this field, but she is also a breath of fresh air in the wedding industry. It is truly a pleasure to speak with her and work with her, and you can tell she puts her heart and soul into everything she does.

Jo-Anne sent a cake tasting kit all the way to North Carolina (where we live) so we could have the full tasting experience, even when we couldn't get out to Chicago ourselves. Each combo we tried was absolutely delicious but we landed on red velvet cake/cream cheese filling and vanilla cake/salted caramel filling. Our guests RAVED about our cake on our wedding day!

I cannot wait to continue to support Jo-Anne and her business in the future. Not only was the cake delicious, but her truffles and other goodies are just as incredible. Please do yourself a favor and try something from Cake Chicago ASAP!

The BEST Cake I've Ever Had

Jo-Anne was recommended to us by our wedding planner, and she is fantastic! She is an amazing baker (who also helped formulate the famous Portillo's Chocolate Cake IYKYK), and a great person. Jo-Anne made the at home tasting process so much fun for us with our little goodie bag kit - so much so that we had trouble actually choosing! We also purchased her signature Chubby Wubbies as favors for our guests, which were a huge hit. Highly recommend working with Jo-Ann for all of your cake needs!

Recommend! Especially for Gluten Free :)

We had the BEST experience working with Jo-Anne from CAKE for our wedding! From the very start of the planning process, she was responsive, flexible, and accommodating. As an out of town bride, I had limited availability to meet in person, but she worked hard to adjust her schedule so that I could come in person with my husband and our parents for our cake tasting. We so appreciated this!! We had a blast at the cake tasting – her cakes are absolutely delicious, and she has so many incredible flavor combinations to choose from. One of the things I am most grateful for is Jo-Anne’s willingness and ability to accommodate for those who were gluten free. I (the bride) am gluten free, and we had approx. 15 gluten free guests as well. Without hesitation, Jo-Anne offered to make a separate gluten free sheet cake in a dedicated gluten free baking facility, slice them into individual pieces, wrap/package them, label them, and deliver them to our venue. All of our gluten free guests (myself included) were SO excited to be able to enjoy some wedding cake!! Both the GF and regular wedding cakes were absolutely delicious!!! Without a doubt, we will be recommending Jo-Anne to our friends and family, and will be ordering from her again for other special occasions :)

Unique & Special!

Jo-Anne blew it out of the park with our cake! We felt so loved, heard and well taken care of by her and her team! She is extremely accommodating for allergies (esp. gluten free) and the flavors/textures of her cakes are absolutely incredible! They make everything in house and the care and consideration that goes into each cake is truly off the charts. The most special thing is that for your one year anniversary they will make you a fresh anniversary cake - no more freezer burnt, year old cake to celebrate one year of marriage! So special!

Chic wedding cake with a personal touch

Working with Cake Chicago for our wedding cake was truly amazing! From start to finish, Jo-Anne listened to our wants and brought them to life flawlessly. The expertise she brings to the business is perfection and she works with her couples on a level most vendors do not. She also took the time to add in a cute feature to our cake to honor our pets. Beautiful design!

Joanne truly knows how to bring your cake dreams to life. Our tuxedo themed cake was a conversation piece at our party and was absolutely delicious. Can't wait to use Cake Chicago for another event in the future!

We ordered our wedding cake without ever being able to come into the store...and believe it our note, we had the best experience possible! We live on the West coast but got married in Chicago. It wasn't until later that we decided to have a cake for our wedding (we were going to have a dessert table only). We found Cake Chicago online because they ship samples to your home- which sounded like a perfect compromise for us. We tasted different cakes and fillings and with the help of Joanne made a decision on a perfect cake! I was amazed when I tasted it at the wedding...it was incredibly delicious and beautifully displayed! I had friends coming up to me at the wedding giving me bites saying, "did you try this?? please try it!" Thank you SO MUCH for making our wedding planning so very easy!

My mouth is watering just thinking about our wedding cake! From the beginning, the ladies of Cake were incredibly professional and helpful. They were extremely responsive to emails and happy to answer any and all questions this busy bride had! Although the availability of “taste test” hours were fairly limited in regards to a working couple’s schedule, they were incredibly accommodating and were able to send the entire taste test kit to our home to do on our own time. All of the choices and combinations of cake and frosting were so incredible, it was hard to make a choice! Once we decided on the perfect combo, we also sent them a picture of a cake that we’d like ours to look like. When I walked into the venue the day of the wedding, I could not believe how perfect it looked! I nearly cried at its beauty in the middle of our decorated wedding hall. Not only did it look incredible, but the number of compliments we received were tremendous. Thank you, Cake, for the wonderful addition to our wedding day! We cannot wait to eat another piece on our anniversary ☺

I cannot say enough about cake-chicago! My husband and I got married at The Drake and they use cake-chicago so we didn't have much of a choice. I was not disappointed and am glad I didn't have to shop around because I would not have found a better place for our wedding cake if I tried. First, communication was super-easy; I always received responses to my emails within a couple hours and they were super-accomodating when I decided to make a design change two weeks prior to our wedding. Furthermore, the cake tasting was an absolute blast- perhaps one of my favorite parts of the planning process! We sampled several options and they were all delicious- if we could have had three different cakes with different flavors, we would have! Finally, and most importantly, our cake was amazing! Not only was it beautiful on the outside, and exactly as I envisioned it, it was beautiful on the inside! The colors of the layers looked amazing and several of our guests commented that they'd never seen such a beautiful cake inside and out. As for the taste, it was absolutely delicious and very moist! We've all had dry wedding cake before, but that cake was not from cake-chicago. One of my girlfriends is a beachbody coach and she doesn't eat sweets- ever. One of our friends who was at her table came up to me later in the evening and commented on how delicious our cake was and that the beachbody coach completely devoured her cake as everyone watched in awe! I also love that we were given the option of doing a top tier and freezing it until our one year anniversary or getting a new, fresh top tier in a year. We opted for the fresh cake and I can't wait for our one year anniversary so we can enjoy cake-chicago's masterpiece again!

We worked with Cake Sweet Food Chicago for our wedding in June, as they were one of the vendor choices for cake when working with our venue, Sofitel. After looking up their reviews, it was a no brainer to go with them. When we went in for our tasting and brought along 4 guests. Cake Sweet Food Chicago was so accommodating. They gave us multiple fillings and multiple cakes to try, each one as delicious as the last. It was a bit overwhelming having to choose between so many great choices but, with the help of our family and Mary, we were able to pick a great combination. While we were trying all the flavors, Mary also took us through some pictures on an iPad to get an idea of what we wanted our cake to look like. We left the appointment very excited to share our cake with our guests.

On the day of the wedding, the cake was exactly what we had described to Mary. It was absolutely gorgeous and although we had to eat it on the run during the reception, it was the best wedding cake we’ve ever had. Our venue didn’t end up keeping our cake top, which works out perfectly fine since Cake Sweet Food is going to make us a fresh cake top for our one year anniversary. We are very much looking forward to having our cake again and would highly recommend Cake Sweet Food to anyone looking for cake vendor.

We absolutely loved our wedding cake from Cake Chicago! The cake came with a package from Trump Hotel, our wedding venue.

The flavors I selected were: 1) chocolate with salted caramel; and 2) almond with bittersweet chocolate. Design was purple flowers on white background, with a white satin ribbon.

The taste was amazing! So moist and delicious... One thing, for some reason the slices guests received were small (but I think this is just how they were cut by the hotel's careting staff).

We will order a smaller version of this cake for our 1-year anniversary!

The team at Cake Chicago was absolutely fantastic and I would highly recommend them to someone who wants an elegant, unique cake. From start to finish, the process of working with Gretchen & Mary was seamless. Mary was so creative with the types of flavors used and the design, etc that it quickly became one of our favorite vendor meetings. We got rave reviews of the cake from our attendees, and can't wait to relive the experience on our one year anniversary when we get to taste it all again!

I'm a huge cake person and this was the best! The tasting was intimate and friendly. We had lots of options to chose from and it made the decision very difficult :) In the end the chocolate cake with salted caramel filling and the coconut cake with raspberry filling were AMAZING!

Mary, your cake is the bomb! Three layers of sheer amazement...carrot with cream cheese, chocolate with salted caramel and red velvet. You really topped off a great dinner for my daughter's wedding, and lucky for me (not my thighs), we had some leftover to enjoy. Not only delicious, lovely to look at...thanks, Mary!

We live in Atlanta and had our wedding at the Drake Hotel in Chicago, which uses Cake Chicago as their wedding cake provider for weddings. We had to combine our food tasting for the wedding with our cake tasting since we were only in town a limited amount of time, so we were so full by the time we got to the cake tasting that we weren't really able to enjoy it (which sucked because we had been so looking forward to it!). We toyed with the idea of using a different bakery than the one the Drake goes with (we thought it might be cool to use the one my parents got their wedding cake from and have always had good experiences with), but after reading reviews about Cake Chicago, we decided to just stick with them, and are so glad we did! I had found a photo of a cake that I was in love with, and they were able to bring it to life beautifully! Actually, I like the one they did better than the original photo I sent them (although I might be biased!). Mary worked with me via email to figure out which cake flavor/fillings would work out best for us and our guests and was super helpful letting me know what flavor combinations worked well together and what was popular - we ended up going with white cake with strawberry cream and cream cheese fillings and it was amazingly delicious! All in all, we are very happy with our decision to use Cake Chicago to help make our wedding cake dreams come true! :-)

Working with Cake Chicago was literally a dream come true. I was the bride that walked in with well over 50 pictures of different kinds of cake designs I liked. Instead of panicking, telling me to choose, or asking me to compromise, Mary calmly asked a few questions to start helping me pick my 10-15 favorite cakes so that she could come up with a sketch. When this seemed impossible, she asked, “Okay, this one or this one?” and deleted the one I did not choose to help me realize which aspects I valued most. At our tasting, Mary patiently tasted several different options with us to help us come up with the most seemingly outrageous combination (yet incredible) cake flavors. At our wedding, a table of our guests (who claimed they typically do not care for wedding cake) could not get enough of ours and wanted to know what kind it was because they were all debating! I’ll agree with them too, I have never tasted a better wedding cake & I literally cannot wait to eat our top layer on our 1st anniversary!

Throughout the entire process, Mary dealt with my consistently indecisiveness with grace and charm. When I wasn’t sure about something, I always knew I could trust Mary with whatever she thought was best. She made sure it was the perfect cake down to the very last detail. When I saw our cake for the first time, I was blown away with how beautiful it was. She had provided a sketch, but it’s true beauty just had me awestruck. She did such an incredible job. Mary is a saint and only makes the most beautiful cakes. You can trust her with your cake whether you know EXACTLY what you want or you have ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA – she will make it perfect.

We went for our tasting on the coldest day of the year in February 2015 and were met by 2 of the friendliest people in Mary and Gretchen. From the minute we walked in we knew we were in good hands. As we sat down and began the tasting both of us knew that this was going to be an awesome cake. On the day of the wedding the cake out did our expectations. The design was exactly as was drawn on the day of the tasting. It was so beautiful and elegant with the modern classic look we both were looking for. We hated to cut in to it but did and it tasted awesome. All our guests commented on how well it tasted. We highly recommend that anyone looking for a cake call them and make an appointment.

Our cake was included as part of our package through the Intercontinental Mag Mile. We chose a fudge cake with layers of strawberry cream and milk chocolate cream. The design was lovely and it was the best wedding cake I've ever tasted. Super moist and perfect sweetness. We had numerous guests rave about how delicious it was.

Our wedding cake was beautiful and delicious. A family friend commented it was one of the best cakes she has ever had. They made a smaller, gluten-free cake for us and even that was delicious. One could not tell that it was gluten-free. They make the planning and tasting very easy. They are very personable and accommodating. The cakes tasted exactly as they did on the day of our tasting.

By far, the best wedding cake I have ever tasted! I might even go so far as to say the best cake period I have ever tasted. The chocolate cake with peanut butter filling is to die for. If you don't like those flavors, the salted caramel or even basic buttercream are all exceptional. Our guests RAVED about the wedding cake. Beautiful to look at and working with Mary was such a pleasure.

We used Cake for our wedding cake through the Hilton Orrington. Highly recommended. The tasting was one of the best parts of all the planning, the cake looked exactly as we had specified, and it was delicious. I generally expect wedding cake to be dry and boring. This was one of the best cakes, wedding or otherwise, I have ever had.

Cake Bakery was great to work with! I was planning my Chicago wedding long distance so emailing ideas and pictures was the best way to describe my vision. They were quick with responding, and open to my feedback on ideas. During planning, I was only able to spend a couple days every couple of months in Chicago. Since their hours are limited on the weekends, Cake set up a tasting "to go" where we got to choose our flavors and fillings and frostings, they pack it up, and we taste at home. We loved two combos of flavors, and with those, they were able to bake two flavors of cupcakes along with a top tier. I received numerous compliments on the cupcakes (about taste and appearance) before the reception even ended! My husband and I are looking forward to eating our anniversary cake, it'll be hard to not thaw it before then!

Our cake was beautiful, and so very delicious - it was by far the best cake I've ever tasted, and lots of our guests raved about it, too. Mary was great to work with - even though we didn't really know what we wanted before the tasting, she walked us through all our options and made it easy to craft our perfect cake (half chocolate cake with salted caramel frosting, half orange almond cake with nutella buttercream frosting - so good!). We're so enamored with them that we just ordered their cookies and truffles for holiday gifts - and those are all wonderfully delicious, too!

I have always said that a wedding cake should to look as good as it tastes. As a girl with a major sweet tooth, my wedding cake needed to be delicious and still look gorgeous. CAKE offered so many amazing options and combinations that it was not difficult for me to find one I loved, although hard to narrow it down. :)
Mary Winslow helped me create the most delicious Hazelnut cake with Nutella Buttercream and Raspberry conserve. She then helped me pick out a beautiful design that was classic and elegant even using my accent color of gray. The cake was truly breathtaking at the reception.
I followed the instructions for saving the top tier, but knowing that cake is in the freezer might be difficult to wait a year...it's that good.

Mary was easy to work with, and the cake was AWESOME! Her icing is smooth as silk and so decadent! The cake was moist and the fillings, oh the fillings, it was so hard to choose our favorites. She was very willing to work within what we wanted. For instance, I do not like fondant but the cake style we liked needed to be made that way to look nice. What did Mary do? She made us a fake cake with a small section to cut and the eating cake was separate. Not a sheet cake separate but a beautiful slice of layered cake and delicious icing separate cake. You will not be disappointed with a cake from cake :)

Yum, yum, yum! We were torn on which bakery to choose for our wedding cake, until we went to this tasting. It was delicious! We ended up deciding on a white buttermilk cake with lemon and raspberry preserve filling frosted with Italian buttercream and chocolate cake with creme brulee and salted caramel filling frosted with Italian buttercream. Soooo good. The tasting was fun, and they were flexible to work with - finalizing the design as I changed it just a few weeks before the wedding. Would definitely recommend and can't wait for our first anniversary to indulge in this again!

We couldn’t have been happier with Take the Cake. Our wedding cake was absolutely delicious – objectively one of the best I’ve tasted. The cake was also beautifully designed and just as we had pictured it. My husband and I were so impressed with all of the unusual cake options at Take the Cake. Mary and her team are real pros at what they do. My husband and I were completely thrilled with our wedding cake. It was delicious. Mary conducts a very professional and comfortable tasting and has a million wonderful options. She is not afraid to try any design and is also very knowlegable about what works and what doesn't. We still have guests commenting on how good the cake was and I wouldn't hesitate going to Mary for any special occasion. I cannot wait for our 1 year anniversary to have more of the best cake I have ever tasted. During the tasting it was so difficult to narrow down the choices because every combination tasted better then the previous. On the day of our wedding the cake is what we actually made sure we had time to have multiple bites of. Not only did it taste perfect but it was so beautiful and artfully done that it was a shame to cut into it. Even when the pieces were cut and given to our guests the slice was even gorgeous. I only have wonderful things to say about TTC. I enjoyed working with them. We had a great time at the tasting (they really take great care of you) there were so many choices, a little over whelming. :) but, so tasty and the cake was AMAZING!! Seriously our cake was amazing. As a general rule, I love cake and try to eat a lot of it. Our wedding cake was probably the best cake I have ever had. Oh my gosh it tasted so absurdly good. We have received (and continue to receive) compliments. Just thinking about it makes me want to break into the top layer that is sitting in our freezer.

Not only was the cake delicious, but it was beautiful. After talking with us about the design of other elements we were making for the wedding (programs, menus, etc) Mary sent us a design to approve. In addition she requested samples of ribbon we were using so that she could make sure that she matched the color. This was above and beyond the level of service we expected. We were simply thrilled with TTC.

Our cake was unbelievably beautiful and tasted SO good. We had no idea what we wanted and they were very patient and took the time to come up with an idea that worked perfectly. I cannot say enough how much we loved our cake. I was surprised by how good it tasted as most taste like cardboard. Take the cake is amazing. Let me say first that I hate wedding cake. But take the cake is not wedding cake. It is the BEST cake I've ever eaten. It's not the easiest to get an appointment, but you'll be glad you did. The cake was beautiful, and more importantly, delicious! Personalized and Brilliant

We had such a blast working with Jo-Anne! Our venue sent us to her as part of our package so we were uncertain about how it would go. But, after meeting her, seeing her creations and trying her AMAZING flavors, we knew it would be fantastic.

During our tasting, she took the time to learn about us and our wedding. We didn't have a design in mind so it was great to work with someone who actually wanted to incorporate personalized elements. The cake design was spot on - taking inspiration from all different parts of our wedding but still keeping the design clean. Plus, she was able to incorporate our dogs. Then the cake taste... OMG! it was so hard to decide on flavors but, don't worry, you can't go wrong.

So thrilled with having Jo-Anne at Cake as our baker!

We did not have any particular design in mind for our cake, but had some general idea of what our preferences were. Take The Cake designed a cake that was a perfect match to our personalities and our wedding theme and colors. The cake was delicious as well. There are so many great flavors to choose from and the tasting was so much fun. We ended up choosing a chocolate fudge cake with strawberry conserve and buttercream icing. It was definitely not cheap but it was worth every penny!

Take the cake really listened to the design ideas I had and created the exact cake I pictured in my head. They were great to talk with me about size of the cake to make sure I had a great looking cake but stayed in budget by using sheet cake in order to accommodate the number of guests. Not many people would stop you from spending too much money like they did. We received so many compliments on the fabulous looking and great tasting cake. Absolutely delicious cakes which were our main priority in choosing a cake. We had two cake flavors (almond and chocolate) and two fillings (creme brulee and chocolate) in each tier and it was so decadent and wonderful that we were only too happy to take home the leftovers. The design was secondary but it came out perfect for us -- elegant, simple, and incorporated a design element from our invitations. Mary was absolutely lovely at the tasting. I only wish I could have her cakes on a daily basis!

Take the Cake did an amazing job on our wedding cake. I showed them pictures of designs I liked from various cakes and they incorporated them into our cake just beautifully. The cake looked and tasted outstanding!

We had a very easy time working with this vendor, they actually made it easy to come up with a great looking (and tasting) cake within our budget.

Although it is rather difficult to get a tasting time with this bakery (plan several months ahead), there is a reason--our wedding cake was absolutely the most delicious wedding cake I have ever tasted. Numerous guests told me " I don't normally eat the wedding cake but yours was so good I ate my whole piece!". The cake also looked beautiful. I would highly recommend this bakery.

Excellent cake. The best we have every had. Cake was expensive but definitely worth it. Sometimes it was hard to get in touch with the vendor regarding cake details since they are so busy but overall excellent.

Our cake was nice but was not what we asked for. We wanted varied green ribbon fondant on a rounded tiered cake. It wound up looking more like the old Marshal Fields logo. The flavor were much to subtle as well. The cake tasted a bit waxy and was not very moist.
