We can not speak more highly about Johanna's!! We utilized their services for two nights of our wedding week and both nights they knocked it out of the park. We couldn't have been more pleased with the service and the food was absolutely delicious. -

Absolutely Incredible!!
We cannot recommend Johanna’s Catering enough! The food at our wedding was absolutely incredible—so much so that countless guests told us it was the best wedding food they’ve ever had. We opted for the heavy hors d’oeuvres and the duet plate dinner, and every dish was exceptional. The seared beef with demi-glace sauce was cooked perfectly and received endless compliments along with the local caught fish! Also, the potato pave is a must as a side!
The staff was amazing—they served all the food and even handled cleanup seamlessly. Johanna herself was wonderful; we scheduled a tasting before the wedding, and she was incredibly helpful, friendly, and attentive. Her service is truly top-notch.
If you’re planning any event, especially a wedding, Johanna’s Catering is the one to go with. Highly, highly recommend! -

Johanna’s Catering was an absolute standout on our wedding day. From start to finish, they were incredibly easy to work with, wonderfully flexible, and consistently responsive, which made planning feel smooth and stress‑free. Their pricing is competitive with other caterers in the area, and the level of service you receive truly exceeds expectations.
We loved that they offered both self‑serve options and passed hors d’oeuvres, giving us the freedom to design the flow of our reception exactly how we wanted. They seamlessly provided service across multiple floors, which is no small feat, and everything ran flawlessly.
Our private tasting was intimate and personal, with Joanna herself guiding us through multiple menu options. It set the tone for the care and attention we experienced throughout the entire process.
And the food—absolutely incredible. Our guests are still talking about it. Some of our favorites were the potatoes pavé, baked oysters, seafood pasta, and the caprese salad. Every dish was beautifully prepared and full of flavor.
Johanna’s Catering also provided all the dinnerware and serving ware, which made logistics effortless. Their staff was friendly, quick, and truly amazing. They packed up all the leftovers, and when they were done, the space looked as if they had never been there—everything spotless.
One of the moments we appreciated most was how intentionally they catered to my husband and me, making sure we had a chance to try every dish and were always taken care of with drinks and food. That level of thoughtfulness meant so much on such a busy day.
Johanna’s Catering didn’t just meet expectations—they went above and beyond in every way. We couldn’t recommend them more highly to any couple looking for exceptional food, service, and care on their wedding day. -

With all the stress that comes with planning and waiting for the wedding day, choosing Johanna was the easiest and smartest decision! After attending another wedding where I was blown away by the food, I knew we had our caterer. Our first call was to Johanna’s catering manager Lynda. We knew we would choose our date in November around their availability! It was an absolute relief to know the food wasn’t anything we needed to have concerns about, that our guests would love every bite! During the planning, I felt I reached out a lot through email to Lynda with questions. How lovely was it to hear, no worries… this is what I’m here for! The entire process was just a dream. The night of the wedding, we loved hearing our guests just rave about the cocktail hour appetizers and the BEST food they ever had at a wedding! I’m not kidding! I cannot thank them enough. Do yourself a favor… have once less worry, and have your guests delighted by Johanna’s amazing food! -

Johanna and her team knocked it out of the park. From the tasting to the final bite on wedding night, everything was consistently exceptional. Guests are still raving about how delicious every dish was. She was so flexible — adjusting menus for dietary restrictions, shifting service timelines when rain threatened, and customizing small details just for us. Her staff was professional, warm, prompt, and attentive from cocktail hour through cleanup. The value we got for such high quality food is unbeatable. We’d hire Johanna’s a hundred times over. -

We used Johanna’s to cater my daughter’s wedding in the Outer Banks, and everything was absolutely phenomenal! From the very first tasting earlier in the year, Johanna impressed us with her attention to detail and her ability to understand exactly what the bride and groom were looking for. For the wedding itself, we had incredible pass-around appetizers, followed by a duet plate featuring locally caught fish and filet, both were cooked to perfection. We also offered a delicious vegetarian option and a kids’ meal, which were both thoughtful additions that made sure everyone felt included and well taken care of. We used Johanna’s bartenders, who were wonderful, and later in the evening, Espresso Martinis were served, which our guests absolutely loved. With 164 guests in attendance, the food and service were seamless, elegant, and unforgettable. We are still receiving compliments about how amazing the food was! Johanna was such a joy to work with, and her team truly went above and beyond to make the evening perfect. I cannot recommend Johanna’s highly enough for anyone planning a wedding or special event in the Outer Banks. -

As the Mother of the Groom, I had a fantastic experience working with Johanna and Lynda planning the rehearsal dinner. I live 6 hours away, and these ladies couldn’t have made it any easier for me to make choices that were absolutely perfect. The food was amazing! All of the wedding party and other guests were super excited about the taco bar and loved the food!
Johanna was so flexible, and pleasant to work with. Her manager, Lynda was super prompt at answering my questions and setting up actual calls with Johanna.

Johanna and her team did a phenomenal job catering our welcome dinner and wedding dinner. Food for both events was exceptional, communication with her staff was always professional and friendly, service at both events was top notch. Couldn't more highly recommend her food. Johanna and her team catered my Navy retirement ceremony in Corolla. All the coordination was done via phone/email as we live in PA. Every aspect of the experience was top notch! Lynda was always prompt to respond and answered all my questions. The day of the event was amazing. The food and service were exceptional! We got so many compliments from our friends. The staff Johanna brought were very friendly and professional. I can't recommend Johanna and her team enough! -

We booked Johanna's Catering in conjunction with the Roanoke Bungalow and the food was amazing. The passed appetizers were a perfect starter and the main courses were delicious. The Seared Salmon, Teriyaki Glazed Beef Short Ribs and the Chicken Marsala were excellent. Great portions and everyone loved it. -

I hired Johanna after our first caterer was giving me the run-around. I had NO IDEA how easy and effortless the process could be. Her whole team showed up, professional and confident and then they didn't need any direction from me (the bride).
The food was RAVED about (even our vegan attendee said it was amazing and appreciated having elevated, unique alternatives). We had attendees from over 900 miles away attendees and I was determined to provide them with the best meal they would have while in the OBX. Thank you Johanna and team for making that possible!
Everything was amazing, down to the desserts. We chose to use their hummingbird cake as our wedding cake (honestly I had decision fatigue and the $50 for the cake was unbeatable). And it was well worth it! We later found out it was vegan and gluten free which was the "icing on the cake" (pun intended).
A few weeks later, and I'm still thinking about that crab stuffed flounder...
I think the cafe is currently closed to focus on catering, but I hope it opens back up so if we come down for our anniversary every year, we can have it! -

We had to wait an agonizing 7 months between our (complimentary!) tasting and getting to eat Cafe Lachine's food again. We have already had several guests ask if there is a corresponding restaurant so they can go back and eat more of this delicious food (The taco and dessert bars are highly recommended). Cafe Lachine was incredibly professional and quick on the day-of and in all of the moments up to it. Whenever we were uncertain about something, our questions were answered with kindness. When we realized we didn't want what we had previously thought at our tasting, Johanna had a different sample ready to go. Our catering experience was so stress-free and was incredibly reasonable. -

Johanna is an absolutely amazing and talented Chef! Café Lachine has an extensive and mouth-watering menu, ranging from perfectly done and delicious “standards” to tasty and creative specialty dishes. The diner was five-star fabulous in taste and presentation. Johanna and the staff at the reception were friendly, accommodating, and hospitable to all our guests, family and friends. We didn’t want a traditional decorative cake, so we chose a few different desserts which were all delicious but the single layer, simple but sophisticated chocolate cake that Johanna made per our request was simply AMAZING! We can undoubtedly say that the Johanna and the Café Lachine team was nothing short of perfection. There is no caterer that could have done such an amazing and memorable reception. We cannot thank Johanna and Café Lachine for making our wedding reception one we will never forget! -

If you are looking for delicious food specifically catered to you and not picked directly from one set menu, look no further. Cafe Lachine hosted both our wedding rehearsal and reception. For the rehearsal we decided on something fun - - who doesn't love tacos?! They were a huge hit. At the last minute, we made a special request for churros. OMG, can we all say, "delicious" together?! The churros were divine with an apple filling and a yummy caramel sauce. People are still talking about them. For our wedding, we had an array of food and everything came out perfect. As the bride, it's hard to actually taste everything. With that said, our guests especially loved the fig salad the array of appetizers and the variety of options they had to choose from. We had gluten free options and mini desserts that made you come back for more - - isn't that the point, since they are mini's? Johanna and the Cafe Lachine team are phenomenal and an overall joy to work with. If we had it to do over again, we would choose Cafe Lachine again and again. Thank you for an absolutely spectacular array of food, for your professional delivery and for your consistent desire to deliver with a smile! Can't wait to visit when we are next in the Outer Banks! -

My husband and I held our destination wedding in the Outer Banks, NC. Planning a destination wedding is challenging, so working with vendors who were responsive, caring, and accommodating was imperative. Cafe Lachine stood out immediately among the many catering options in the Outer Banks because of qualities - and we hadn’t even tried their food yet! Through and through, they were an absolute pleasure to work with. They never made me felt bad about asking too many questions and proactively put any concerns I had to rest before they even had a chance to form! We loved working with them so much that we also decided to have them cater a taco bar for our rehearsal dinner and a post-wedding BBQ - our guests raves! They went above and beyond, working with me to create custom desert tarts for my wedding day and even dressing in 1920s attire to lend to the decor! Cafe Lachine also bartended my wedding! Being from Boston, It was so important to make sure that not only were there no lines at the bars but that their staff helped my guests enjoy themselves - and did they ever. Cafe Lachine is a class act with endless capabilities, both creatively and culinarily. Thank you for making our wedding week unforgettable. -

Even though a friend of the family baked our cake they were happy to assemble, cut and plate it for us! We had them cater a buffet and everything was presented so nicely. The tasting was great, they accommodated both sets of parents and paid full attention to us while we were there. Matt was also there and offered many ideas for the bar. We ended up having Matt bartend for both events and he was fantastic. Highly recommend Cafe Lachine for both food and bar. They made a point of having two very different dinners so the wedding food didn't feel like a repeat of the night before. Also like that they are eco-friendly and use locally sourced food and beverages. Thanks Cafe Lachine everything was wonderful!
