User1351603 Sent on 09/27/2013I have no idea why the reviews below state what they do. We were referred to Marie and couldn't have been happier with our decision. The big value in Marie came on the day of the wedding. She showed up a couple hours prior while people were setting up. She brought two AMAZING people to help her and took over from there. Anything that went off beat, she handled immediately and ensured we didn't worry about it. Honestly, the day of the wedding was overwhelming when the vendors starting showing up, asking questions, etc all at once. As soon as Marie showed up, it was like a weight being lifted and we knew we were in good hands. Marie's specialty comes at improvising the unexpected and getting vendors to take care of the things they need to. Without Marie, we would have been running around nuts trying to align the vendors, set up, follow the timeline, etc. Oh, and she accomplished an amazing job only 2 weeks out from having her baby! If she reads this, congratulations again, Marie!
I would hesitate to recommend Marie to someone getting married in the Outer Banks. You must understand the process will be a bit stressful, but having someone who is so in-tune with the area, the vendors and who to go to when the unexpected comes up will pay off.
To be honest, we even sat back during the process and thought, why did we pay a wedding planner. The day of the wedding, it all made sense and I would do it 10 times over if I could. Marie is such a sweet person with a great personality. She'll be strict at times, but it is so necessary. During the rehearsal, we became a bit out of order and she quickly put us all back into our place (which made us love her even more).
When it comes to details, no one will have them as organized as you do yourself. However, if you want to have someone who will know what it takes to have a wedding go smoothly, handle the unexpected and dedicate herself to ensuring your day is not only perfect, but not stressful; Choose this vendor. -

Michelle Sent on 05/28/2013Overall, Marie helped me choose great vendors and was quick to respond to questions.
I did realize that Marie doesn’t have a great attention to detail. When she sent me the timeline draft, there were multiple misspellings in the draft and the final. On the week we arrived at the house, she showed up with a folder that had my name on it and a different groom’s name. The mistakes weren’t damaging to the actual wedding, but showed a lack of detail orientation, which was a little scary for me. At the rehearsal, Marie was extremely rushed and was rude to our wedding party. We had our wedding at a house and we moved everything/ set up all the tables and the chairs on the morning of the wedding. In setting everything up, it would have been nice to have a drawn out schematic. Marie didn’t come to the house until 3:00 and she started moving around tables, but the wedding designers had already set the pin lighting based on how we had the tables and subsequently a few of the centerpieces that didn’t have pin lighting. I would recommend to any bride having a wedding in an event house to have the planner come while you are setting up. At the wedding, Marie was again rude to the bridal party. .
Overall, my experience with Marie was not a bad one. That said, her lack of detail, always seeming rushed and rudeness to my wedding party makes me say that I would not recommend Bordeaux Events to another bride.
