When my husband and I booked our destination wedding 18 months in advance, the absolute last thought on our minds was that the venue we originally contracted was going to close their doors in June of 2025 sending 300+ couples in disarray, panic and heartbreak. That is where Tui & the Blue Butterfly Events team stepped in and literally saved the day! Truly, I believe if not for Tui, I would have either had to reschedule our wedding completely, compromised for a different country altogether or settled for none of what my husband and I wanted for our big day.
As a wedding planner myself for 13+ seasons, I knew what I was looking for in a destination wedding planner and I knew after meeting Tui, she reminded me of myself and I needed her as a part of my Dream Team for my own wedding day. We discussed visions, shared inspiration pics, had countless planning meetings, and she pulled everything off flawlessly - beyond my wildest dreams. Tui has amazing connections with every vendor we needed, she made sure everything was exactly in place and on time. I cannot thank or recommend Tui and the Blue Butterfly team enough for literally making my dreams into a reality.

Whitney Sent on 08/05/2025I could not have done our Costa Rican wedding without Blue Butterfly Events. Tui and Audri (Adriana) made it such an incredible and stress free experience. Tui listened to our vision and took us to so many beautiful locations. We found the perfect venue and we couldn't have dreamed of a better location. She has a list of stylists, photographers, bands, DJs, decorators, performers, etc.... She got to know us well and everyone we hired were phenomenal. Tui kept in contact with me once a month to make a few decisions and keep everything on track. She is extremely organized. I did a few things at a time and never felt overwhelmed with the planning process. Audri handled the logistics of all of our guests travel needs. She will book flights, arrange shuttles, rent you a car, handle hotel blocks, book excusions with a 10% discount, etc.... She'll even play with your kids and assist you with childcare. Every question or problem one of our guests encountered, Audri was on top of it. She has such a positive energy and I loved how she corresponded with all of our guests. In summation, if you want to work with good people, people that listen and will make your special day seamless: hire Blue Butterfly Events.
The biggest suggestion I can give you when planning a destination wedding is to create a website with all of your travel plans, schedule, dress codes, and frequently ask questions. We used the Knot but there are several planning sites available. It's extremely easy but time consuming. However, it will save you a lot of time in the long run with texts and calls from your guests. -

Costa Rican Dream Wedding Thanks To Blue Butterfly
Tui at Blue Butterfly Events is absolutely incredible! Planning a wedding, especially in another country, could have been a stress-inducing experience but she incorporated so much expertise, kindness, and patience in her guidance that it was anything but stressful!
The team and vendors that Tui works with were so knowledgeable and they did an amazing job at harnessing the vibe we wanted and bringing it to life in every way imaginable - from venue to florals to cake to food to music to design - everything was beautiful and even better than my wildest dreams!
Tui was so organized and helpful leading up to and during the wedding - it really made the whole day seamless. Tui and her team also made traveling with 40 people seem easy - they were always available to answer questions while we were there and they set up the best excursions for us and our guests as well!
If you are considering planning a wedding in Costa Rica I can’t recommend Blue Butterfly enough - you definitely won’t regret it!! -

Blue Butterly Events created my husband's and my dream wedding... and we had no idea how magical it would be. Without a doubt, it was the happiest day of our lives {so far} and we cannot help but glow when we remember each moment.
Tui is incredibly intuitive, thoughtful, creative, professional, playful and efficient... all at once. How is that possible? Don't question it, just book her immediately.
Not only did Tui have an amazing sense of who we were as a couple, she knew exactly which vendors to match us with to make our wedding dreams come true. The venue was extraordinary {two waterfalls and easy to get to!}, the florals were gorgeous, my hair and makeup were on point... it is a day that we will remember filled with love, beauty, happiness and ease.

Blue Butterfly Events was the best choice I made involving my husband and i's vow renewal. From the moment I was referred to her from the hotel we were staying in I felt so relaxed and comfortable knowing I didn't have to do much at all. Tui had lists of venues, photographers (Use Fabian - he was amazing also), pictures of flowers and everything we needed for our ceremony. I truly enjoyed knowing that she had everything under control so I didn't have to worry about a thing! Tui is so amazing that I'm going to miss planning with her! 5 Star, Best decision ever!
Tui & her team helped plan my wedding in in about 5 months. She had unique ideas, ample resources, & amazing vendors/team. Everything I asked for she exceeded my expectations from the beautiful traditional dancers, fire dancers, to coordinating a group excursion, lunch and charity event, hand made gift bags dietary accommodations, hotel room block, airport transfer, and an after party. The endless suggestions, explanations, ideas, and resources made this whole planning process amazing. I was not looking forward to planning because everyone said it's so much work and drama but she made it easy! The day of the wedding there was a pretty significant tree that fell blocking the road and she played it so cool I never had a worry. If there is an issue she will make sure it is handled so you can enjoy the day! -

Experienced. Authentic. Delightful. These are the three words we’d use to describe Tui and her incredible team at Blue Butterfly Events. When my now husband and I decided on La Fortuna, Costa Rica for our small destination wedding earlier this year, we knew we couldn’t plan it alone. We wanted a partner who we connected with personally and who was as invested in our wedding dreams as we were.
When we met Tui for an initial consultation, we immediately felt at ease. She was so kind, relatable, and fun to talk to. From our bi-weekly calls to her organized planning process, Tui kept us on track and significantly reduced our stress by providing recommendations and coordinating with the chosen vendors. Tui was conscientious of our budget, and we did frequent check-ins to ensure we stayed within our range. Another amazing thing about Tui and her team is that they helped us with our trip planning! From coordinating with the hotel to booking shuttles to and from Liberia airport to planning fun activities, Tui ensured our destination trip was as smooth as it could be for us and our guests.
Our wedding day turned out to be absolutely perfect and went off without a hitch. And if there was an issue, we either didn’t know about it or Tui was prepared to handle it. Our “whimsical dance party in the rainforest” wedding was a dream come true thanks to Blue Butterfly Events and our wedding vendors. We can’t thank you enough, Tui, Adriana, and Grettel! -

I was on the fence about needing a planner since we were doing a small ceremony with just the two of us, but I am SOOOO glad that we reached out to Tui and her team. They were AMAZING!
From the first email, she was so approachable. She gave me ranges for different vendors that were spot on. She understood that we didn't want a huge event, and found vendors that fit our style/budget. She also had a ton of ideas to make the day even more special.
She went above and beyond, giving us a welcome bag, finding flowers that worked perfectly, even hiking with us to our venue in 100 degree heat (because we are a little crazy). When our venue fell through 3 weeks before we were set to fly down to Costa Rica, she quickly found another alternative and worked with the venue to get us behind the scenes access.
She was there as a sounding board, and a trusted advisor for our entire process and I am so very thankful to her and her team. -

When my now husband and I decided to get married in Costa Rica we didn't know what we were doing but we had this incredible vision of our families and friends being together and just having a really fun time. The moment we met Tui via a zoom call, we knew instantly that she was the right one to help us with our planning. We told Tui exactly our vision for our wedding and it was a truly magical night even with the rainforest downpour most of the night and during the ceremony! Tui gave us incredible options for our wedding location, a truly incredible list of caterers, photographers, DJ's, bands, designer, flowers, hair/makeup and so much more. Tui calmed my nerves about every aspect and the moment I met her in person, it was like we had been friends forever. The entire team at Blue Butterfly was incredible, they helped us book transportation for all of our guests from San Jose to El Castillo on different days and times. They helped us book so many different activities and never once made us feel like we were crazy for all of the changes that we ended up having to make. Tui and her team were so quick at answering our questions, concerns and would jump on a call to calm my nerves.
On our actual wedding day Tui was there from early in the morning til late in the evening, she had someone from her team there until the very end of our wedding. We didn't care if our wedding was sunshine or a rainforest downpour. Tui was prepared, especially when it was a rainforest downpour from 10 minutes before our ceremony til hours later. We danced in the rain and Tui jumped right in to get a picture with us in the rain. The entire team is very professional but also fun to be around! If you are looking for someone who makes you feel stress free, at ease and like you're talking to your best friend, go with the entire team at Blue Butterfly! -

My husband and I used Tui as our wedding planner and overall she was amazing. Our Wedding was this past January (2022)
It was tricky to plan a wedding while not in the country but Tui was very helpful and could guide us through it as well as work with us with respect to budgeting.
Additionally, when unexpected events occurred with the hotel, she was able to handle it and take the stress off of us.

My husband and I completely agree that hiring Tui with Blue Butterfly Costa Rica is the best decision we made for our wedding! If you are searching for wedding planners for your Costa Rica destination wedding, well then search no more and hire Tui! I had been trying to plan my destination wedding on my own for over a year, and it just got so stressful and overwhelming. My husband and I then made the decision to hire a wedding planner. We came upon Tui’s information on Wedding Wire, read through her company’s website and facebook page, and loved what read about Blue Butterfly’s vision. Tui was able to plan the whole wedding for me in a short time frame. She achieved in several months, what I had not been able to do on my own in a year. Having Tui as our wedding planner made the whole process of wedding planning easy for us. She held frequent WhatsApp calls with us to walk us through every step of planning the wedding. She has an outstanding list of vendors that she has worked with previously and highly recommends (everything from music, venues, entertainment, officiants, floral and design, and rentals) . Every single vendor that we hired from her list of vendors did an amazing job. Tui listened closely to our vision and recommended vendors that would align with that vision, updated our cost estimate frequently based on our vendor selection, and helped us find the most perfect straight out of a dream venue for our wedding in La Fortuna. The day of the wedding was perfect and just as we had dreamed it. Tui developed the wedding schedule for us and our vendors and on wedding day everything ran so smoothly. Tui’s assistant coordinator, Grettel, was so sweet. She helped steam my dress and made sure that it looked perfect and wrinkle free. She also steamed my husband’s suit to make sure that he was looking his best on that day too. Tui’s travel coordinator, Adriana Zuniga, was amazing and made planning our trip to Costa Rica and activities in Costa Rica easy and fun. Adriana helped me and my guests reserve rental cars and airport shuttles and coordinated our tour and activity reservations. Everyone commented on how much they loved working with Adriana and how grateful they were for her help in planning the trip. On the day of the wedding, my brother in law’s flight got extremely delayed. We thought that he was certainly going to miss the wedding. Adriana helped us reserve a shuttle to pick up my brother in law at the airport and drive him to the wedding. Adriana stayed in constant communication with the shuttle driver to keep him informed of all the flight updates. My brother in law arrived with one hour to spare before the ceremony started and we were all so happy that he made it safely and on time to the wedding, all thanks to Adriana and her help with the airport shuttle coordination. The day after the wedding, I had scheduled a creative photo and video shoot session in La Fortuna. Tui listened to what my husband and I were envisioning for this photo and video session and recommended the perfect spots in La Fortuna. Tui was there for the creative photo and video session and helped coordinate that for us as well. We loved the sweet note that she wrote for us on wedding day and the welcome bag with various delicious Costa Rican treats that she gifted us. All of this long review to say that Tui works with a stellar team: Grettel her assistant coordinator, Adriana Zuniga her travel coordinator, and all the vendors (floral and design, music, rentals, entertainment, officiant, venues) are amazing to work with. You can be certain that your wedding day will be magical beyond your wildest wedding dreams and flow smoothly if you hire Tui Frye with Blue Butterfly Costa Rica. Tui is honest, caring, responsive, pays close attention to detail, and will always keep the vision that you have for your wedding at the forefront of all her recommendations. Without a doubt, hiring Tui was the best and most important decision of our entire wedding planning process. We saw this same comment time and time again from Tui’s previous clients, and it is not something we fully understood until we worked with Tui.
From day one, you will have someone local on your side who can negotiate on your behalf. In this regard, Tui and her wealth of resources make hiring her a crucial cost-saving move for engaged couples looking to get married or elope in Costa Rica. Having Tui as a local planner comes with exceptionally valuable knowledge of local businesses, local vendors, locations, and more. Each of the vendors we found through Tui were exceptional. You can have the highest level of quality and professionalism in photo/video, DJ, and more while also continuing to support local professionals and continuing to reap the benefits of Tui’s long-standing ties and business relationships. Her reputation in the area is unmatched.
More importantly, Tui’s interests are always aligned with your own throughout the process, and this distinguishes her from alternative options. Tui’s clear and invariable interest throughout the process was to bring our dreams to life while being attentive to our budget and unique needs.
All of this has been said time and again about Tui by her clients through the years. We first started working with Tui in February of 2020, with our original wedding date being in March of 2021. Despite the pandemic extending Tui’s work with us an extra year, despite two years of changes to costs at local businesses, Tui gave us complete comfort throughout the constant changes of the pandemic and worked tirelessly to ensure that our original plan could come to fruition, which it did - entirely on budget despite the aforementioned changes in pricing at our venue and other businesses. This would have never been possible if we were negotiating on our own behalf from thousands of miles away. Even still, while many venue packages come with a day-of-coordinator (who works for that venue, first and foremost), Tui is there for you through each step of the planning process.
Tui met with us when we first visited venues and ultimately helped us find perfect locations for our welcome event, first look, ceremony, reception and brunch. Tui created an incredibly thoughtful and personal design for our event and coordinated the flawless execution of that design, including ingenious problem solving when I forgot to bring critical decorations. Tui helped us coordinate complex logistical items like shuttles for our guest from San Jose and from their hotels to our venue or other events. Tui attended our welcome event and helped oversee its staffing and execution, which was in part carried out by some of Tui’s team at Blue Butterfly, who were also major assets throughout the process, including by communicating with guests and fielding questions leading up to the wedding. Tui attended our wedding (of course) and was diligent and responsible throughout the night while also providing the calming and friendly presence that makes you feel at home.
We knew Tui would execute an incredible event, but our wedding was so much better than we ever could have dreamed. Because of Tui, we had a stress free wedding weekend. The level of attention to detail, the indisputably magical moments Tui can help create, and the ability to relax and be present without bearing the load of planning and managing a big event helped create an experience for us that was better than perfect.
And this is why Tui’s clients all say she was the best decision they made for their wedding. Her work is priceless yet pays for itself. Her planning is creative and ambitious and detailed yet attentive to your needs and budget. Through two years of planning and life changes, Tui became a sincere friend. Hire Tui. We are based on Boston, MA and had never been to Costa Rica before our wedding. I am a type A planner and was a little anxious leaving all the logistics and details of our wedding in the hands of someone else. But honestly, it was the best decision we made. I legitimately could not have planned a better wedding. I always thought the phrase “your wedding is the best day of your life” was a silly exaggeration, but Blue Butterly made the days leading up to through the day after our wedding the best week of our life. No exaggeration at all.
Tui and her whole crew at Blue Butterfly went above and beyond to ensure that our whole experience was nothing short of a fairytale. She was really organized and guided us through the whole process via routine WhatsApp calls and expertly crafted google spreadsheets. We put all of our trust in her and went with all of the vendors she recommended. Each of them knocked it out of the park. I expected the wedding to be beautiful, but it seriously blew our minds how breath-taking everything was.
The Blue Butterfly team even steamed our wedding clothes for us, helped us find a hotel, organize a room block, plan a welcome event for guests, introduce us to a tour company to schedule fun activities before the wedding for guests, arrange transportation from the airport to the hotel and from the hotel to the venue. That is just a small sample of the above the call of duty services provided by her and her team.
More than her high level of professionalism and expertise, you could tell that she genuinely loves her community and is equally respected and appreciated by them in return. She wants to make sure to give you a magic experience, but will not do so at the expense of the local community or environment. I have the utmost respect for the way she conducts her business.
I cannot recommend Blue Butterfly highly enough. -

Tui made Everything flow so great! If there was ever an issue she made sure it got fixed even before we knew about it!
We had a wonderful experience from start to finish with Tui. She made everything clear and smooth for us. Coming from the USA we were a little weary of how well we could make the wedding of our dreams from far away but Tui went above and beyond our expectations! Our wedding was a true paradise for us and our guests. Tui gave us all the best ideas but also listened carefully to our requests and made everything work so beautifully with our “necessities”. Her planning process with us was perfect. She was always ready for whatever we threw out and encouraged us to go in the right direction with everything. Her guidance was top notch and so helpful considering we weren’t familiar with Costa Rica. We would recommend her 100% and if we could have another wedding we would not hesitate to have her do it again! Truly the best
Tui and her team are simply fantastic and we recommend them from the bottom of our hearts. We came to CR to celebrate our wedding in nature and trusted her with everything. Last minute changes were implemented with ease and elegance and we had an incredible sacred experience at the 500 year old Ceiba tree.

I honestly have no words. This whole day was a dream thanks to Tui. She has shown upmost professionalism from the very beginning. I’m a very anxious person and it’s hard for me to communicate what I want. I felt comfortable with her from the first time we exchanged a message. I was able to freely discuss with her what I wanted, brainstorm together and create this beautiful wedding. She was able to take everything we wanted and create an absolute dream for us. It’s so important during these Covid times to have someone flexible, who can accommodate changes. SHE IS YOUR PERSON. Any new idea I threw her way, even two weeks before the wedding, the answer was always, “Oh yeah, we can do that. Don’t worry.” We had a butterfly release ceremony, personalized drinks for our toast, we had a big beautiful triangle alter made just for us, my dream bouquet, a wonderful guitar player, a great wedding officiant and beautiful photography. I’m eternally grateful for Tui and her company. You’ve made our special day absolutely perfect. -

Tui is incredible she changed our lives! She understands the vision, is a great listener, and is able to deliver more than you can imagine. No matter what challenge came our way we always had a solution with a smile on her face and made the experience an unbelievable and memorable one.
My husband and I reside in California and flew to Costa Rica to have a wedding of a lifetime surrounded by nature and beauty. We trusted Tui with every step (we didn’t even see the venue before booking) and arrived a few days before the big day.

Best Wedding Planner in Costa Rica!
I highly recommend Tui of Blue Butterfly for weddings or any other Costa Rican based events. Her event expertise, organizational skills, creativity and knowledge of the Arenal area made planning our destination wedding a joy. She was very reasonable in her fee and worked within our budget to help deliver the wedding of our dreams and had great recommendations for locations, vendors and design —which was a extremely helpful when planning a destination wedding.
Tui and her team also went above and beyond to ensure our guests (many of which had never left the country) had a great experience and helped coordinate their travel and answer all their questions. She made the day of the wedding seamless and not only stayed until the end to make sure everything was perfect but surprised us by helping us get a wedding photo with a sloth!
We really could not have done our wedding without the Blue Butterfly team and the best part of it all was working with Tui, who is genuinely one of the nicest people. I cannot recommend Blue Butterfly enough! -

The entire Blue Butterfly crew are wonderful to work with, especially the owner Tui. Blue Butterfly staff went above an beyond to help my partner and I create an amazing rainforest wedding on November 24, 2019. I feel so grateful to have had so much help, local knowledge, and access to amazing vendors for my wedding events. First, Tui helped my partner and I scout locations for a destination wedding in Costa Rica a year before the event. She arranged meetings with lodge and hotel owners and staff so we could find the right spot for the event and sort out all the pros and cons.
Blue Butterfly helped us organize a "rehearsal dinner" at a local hot springs, a stunning ceremony in the forest, a community reforestation tree planting event, lodging, wedding day yoga, and an extremely fun reception with excellent food, drinks, and music!
Further, Blue Butterfly's travel coordinator helped to organize local tours, in-country transportation for 52 people, and lodging. Tui worked very well with my photographer who I brought from the states, the staff at the lodge, and a variety of vendors to plan these events.
Overall, we had excellent support leading up to the events, while in country, and during the entire wedding day. Even though there was a lot of commotion on the wedding day with photographs, people getting ready, and other preparations - the events were flawlessly executed and the timing and pace were spot on!
Throughout the entire year of planning Tui kept in touch with regular calls, messages, and updates. She suggested ideas, helped negotiate with vendors, and put us in touch with a network of talent that I would never have been able to find myself. I have nothing but good things to say about the Blue Butterfly - it was overall an outstanding experience with really good people.
All of our guests were blown away by how beautiful everything was.

Absolutely amazing!!!
From start to finish (about 1 year of planning) Tui was so helpful with planning our elopement/wedding. She literally did everything and all we had to do was send her documents. She helped us decide where to stay and things to do there as well. I never stressed one time during the process because she made it that easy. To put it bluntly, she is the best damn wedding (or event) planner you’ll ever find and she’s also a pretty awesome human being. When we decided to have our wedding in the Arenal Volcano area, I emailed a few planners to see how realistic it would be considering we lived in Los Angeles and wouldn’t be traveling to Costa Rica beforehand. Tui wrote back promptly, answered all of our questions and even used bullet points! That’s when I knew we were meant to be. For the last seven months, she showed us extreme dedication, provided constant communication, and is one of the most meticulousness/organized people that I have ever met. She will fight to get you the best price on all aspects of your event and trust me, it will be the most beautiful day ever. Besides all that, she really cares. I’ll never forget catching a glimpse of her jumping up and down with such joy after our first dance. She is simply magnificent and we were honored to have her on this journey. Gracias y pura vida.

Blue Butterfly events was amazing to work with! The owner Tui, travel coordinator Adriana, and the rest of her team did an excellent job helping us plan our 75 person wedding in La Fortuna! Tui is very organized and has deep experience with the vendors and hotels in the area! She made sure she was on top of the planning from the beginning so we didn’t have to worry about a thing and could just enjoy spending time with the friends and family who traveled to be there for the wedding! We started the process with site visits to locations that could accommodate our groups needs, which was a great way to meet Tui and Adri, and get more familiar with the area! We also went on some of the tours so we could decide which activities to recommend for our group! Adri did a great job coordinating activities, rental cars, and airport shuttles! The wedding itself was beautiful, and many guests said it was the most relaxed wedding they had ever attended, which I give Tui full credit for! I could not recommend their wedding services more! Best decision we made when planning our wedding! -

Our vow renewal on May 21, 2025, near Arenal Volcano was absolutely magical—and it’s all thanks to Tui at Blue Butterfly Events Costa Rica.
I was referred to Tui by Arenal Observatory Lodge (one of our favorite places to stay), and from the very beginning, she made everything easy and special. She recommended a beautiful venue—Fusion Restaurant in El Castillo—with jaw-dropping views of both Arenal Volcano and Lake Arenal, and it was perfect for our intimate group of 11.
Tui helped with every detail, from coordinating vendors to ensuring we had the exact rooms we wanted at the Observatory. She introduced us to Adrianna, who helped with transportation and excursion ideas. Not only did Adri coordinate private shuttles for our group across different arrival and departure dates (including a second leg of our trip to Tamarindo), but she also made sure we had the specific rooms we had requested at the Arenal Observatory—something that meant a lot to us. All the drivers she booked were professional, friendly, and even made stops for meals and shopping along the way.
The flowers by Sebas were beyond stunning. Since our group was small, we decided to get flowers for everyone—and they were each uniquely beautiful. Special shoutout to the one-of-a-kind corsage Sebas made for our photographer—I’ve never seen anything like it!
Tui also arranged for Isa, an amazing stylist who connected with me before the trip to understand what would work best for my naturally curly hair (and she even brought a diffuser!). Isa, Danie (our phenomenal baker), and Tui all came to our room to help me get ready, and they even steamed our clothes—a detail that speaks to how thoughtful and hands-on they were.
Tui coordinated everything with our family friend and photographer, Haylee, giving her tips and support throughout. She also recommended Kirsten, who turned out to be another perfect suggestion. Kirsten officiated the ceremony with warmth and sincerity, and her words made the moment feel incredibly personal and meaningful.
And then—the cake! Since it was also my husband’s cousin’s 50th birthday, we asked for a custom Strawberry Shortcake birthday cake in lieu of a traditional vow renewal cake. I didn’t know what to expect, but Danie went above and beyond. It was not only delicious—it was stunningly decorated and perfectly captured the ideas we’d sent. Tui and Danie even arrived early to set up birthday decorations and the banner at the restaurant. It was absolutely perfect.
To top it all off, the weather was incredible—a completely clear day with just a touch of rain for good luck.
Tui is warm, funny, professional, incredibly organized, and a joy to work with. She thought of things I never would have, and her connections with the best local vendors made the whole experience feel effortless and beautiful.
