Choosing Cody was one of our best decisions for our wedding day!
I truly cannot say enough amazing things about Cody Kilgore. From start to finish, he went above and beyond to make our wedding day absolutely flawless. From the moment he arrived, he brought such a calm, confident energy that immediately put us both at ease. He didn’t just capture our wedding — he helped create the experience we’ll remember forever.

Working with Cody was hands-down one of the best decisions we made for our wedding. Not only was he our photographer, but he also stepped up as our wedding planner—and honestly, we don’t know how we would’ve pulled it off without him.
We initially planned a large wedding and had been working with Cody for some time. Then came an unexpected (and amazing) turn—my wife got pregnant! That shifted our priorities, and Cody was the one who suggested a micro wedding in Aspen at the Maroon Bells Amphitheater. He helped us completely reimagine our day, and it ended up being more beautiful and meaningful than we ever imagined.
Cody was a true professional from start to finish. He was always quick to respond, super organized, and made everyone feel at ease. He even joined us for our rehearsal dinner the night before to meet our guests and walk everyone through the plan—which made the actual day run so smoothly.
But what really blew us away was how much he went above and beyond. He researched locations, coordinated with vendors, helped us select an amazing restaurant for the reception (Venga Venga—highly recommend!), and even handled flower delivery for us. We had never been to the area before, but Cody made it all feel easy and stress-free.
As for the photos—they're breathtaking. He captured every emotion and moment with so much care and artistry. We’ve looked through them a hundred times and still get emotional.
If you’re looking for someone who is not only incredibly talented behind the lens but also deeply invested in making your day special, Cody is your guy. He’s more than a photographer—he’s someone you’ll be grateful to have by your side. -

My husband and I used Blackcap Photography for our wedding! We had a bad experience with our engagement pictures with a different photographer. After looking for a different option, we were very excited to choose Cody. From the initial consultation, we knew we made an awesome choice! He reassured us that we would not have the same issues with him! He was very attentive to the small details during pictures and the planning process. An added bonus is that he comes to rehearsal practice to meet the family! I would pick Cody again in a heart beat! I can’t wait to get the pictures back! -

Best photographer ever!
Cody was brilliant! I could not recommend him enough. I’m usually very camera anxious and hate my picture being taken so having a photographer follow me around for an entire day would typically be my nightmare. However, Cody made me so comfortable and was such a calming energy. I LOVE how our photos turned out and my husband and I look so natural and fantastic in every picture! My only complaint it how I’m going to be able to decide which ones to frame for my walls…I may need more walls! -

Cody should most definitely be your pick to photograph your special event. Before the ceremony. he took the time to get to know us and the details of the event. From there, Cody's creative genius took over to create the most amazing pictures of our event. We wanted mostly pictures of our guests, in action, enjoying the reception and our incredibly brief ceremony :). And, I sprung a last minute change on him by bringing in a surprise Polynesian dancer. Cody took it all in stride, followed his instincts and created a beautiful amazing portfolio for us to enjoy and to share with our family, friends and guests. Having Blackcap Photography with us for our wedding day was one of the best decision that we made. I would recommend him to anyone! His photos are authentic and naturally edited. He truly captures each moment. Cody is obviously passionate about his work. He came to our rehearsal the night before to get to know us and our families, and he was with us on wedding day from the minute I started getting my hair and makeup done until the last person left the dance floor. Some of my favorite shots were the candids that he took during the reception. He got a pictures of one of our friend's doing a backflip, my new husband and I playing cribbage, and many of all of our friends and family dancing.
Cody is a must have for your wedding day! He will become a part of your family and capture every minute and special moment of your day! -

Exceeds All Expectations!!
I can not recommend Blackcap Photography enough! Truly such an amazing and passionate photographer!! From the moment I saw his work I was interested and the moment I met him it was a for sure deal! Cody is so passionate about what he does and takes the time to make sure every detail is perfect. He captured our engagement photos and wedding photos. I was very pleased and loved all my pictures. The quality is amazing and his professionalism is top notch. He wants to make you happy and exceeded our expectations! (I have pretty high expectations). He was always on time, very courteous and respectful, and worked very well with our videographer. Cody captured every moment we wanted captured beautifully. Our photobook we got from his was beautiful and high-quality. I could tell he really cared about us a couple and family and wanted to capture our love perfectly for each other and our families.
Also, his turn around time is insane! All my family and friends raved about him at the wedding and after seeing the final photos LESS THAN 2 WEEKS AFTER OUR WEDDING!
A 10/10 I would recommend him to everyone and would use him for every occasion if I could! By far our favorite vendor from our wedding!

Best photographer ever!!!
Cody takes the most incredible photos and really goes the extra mile for his clients! I’ve been lucky enough to work with him on two occasions now and each time he made it such a fun experience for everyone. He knows how to make people feel comfortable while talking photos and he cares so much about making sure his clients are happy. If you’re looking for a photographer who will listen to all of your wants and needs, be there for you from sun up til sundown, and put a tremendous amount of care into the final product, Cody is your guy! Cody did a great job with our wedding photos and engagement session! My husband and I were so thankful that we chose him for our big day! Leading up to the wedding day, Cody would frequently check in with us and offer advice and suggestions. His wedding experience is invaluable as he knows what works and what to expect, often thinking of things most people might overlook. We loved that he was there for the whole wedding day to take photos and tell our story from start to finish. There are so many photos from our reception that we would never have captured with a photographer that was only there for a set number of hours. We received so many compliments from friends and family expressing how professional Cody was by listening to what we wanted and taking suggested shots, helping to coordinate the flow of the day with a realistic itinerary, and working to lower our stress level with his personality and sense of humor! Cody is an absolute professional. A rare find in the photography world to be able to pose for photos and not feel awkward. We had some of the best photos I've ever seen for both the engagement photos and our wedding. Too many to even pick from that were amazing. He is so personable and fun to be around. He has great ideas about where to do photos and a keen eye for angles for the shot. In addition he also will listen to any idea you may have and go with the flow.
He will find a way to capture all sorts of crazy moments from your special night that you will ask yourself "how did he do that". My guests and family absolutely loved him. They still talk about my photographer at the wedding and even my in brother in-law who got married before us was jealous of our photos. To top it all off he provided our photos to us very quickly after the wedding and people were shocked we had them back already. Absolutely fabulous. I recommend him to everyone!! He couldn't disappoint you even if you were impossible to please. -

Cody took the most beautiful photos, both on the wedding day and for the engagement photos. He was a real sport about planning the engagements last minute so I could have photos taken in the snow. It was so difficult to pic my top favorites for printing and display, and I wish I had the money (and wall space) to do large prints of all my favorites. Everyone who met Cody on the wedding day complimented his demeanor, his professionalism, and his smile. He was able to put people at ease, and it resulted in relaxed people looking their happiest. I would hire Cody every time. -

Engagement/Wedding Photos
There are not enough good things to say about Cody Kilgore and blackcap photography! I had the most amazing experience working with him for both engagement and wedding photos! The amount of time, effort, creativity, heart, and soul Cody put into my wedding was unbelievable. I’ve told every person that will listen that the best decision I made throughout my wedding planning was picking Cody to be our photographer. Not only did he create the exact image and feel I imagined but he is such a wonderful person to be around and work with. From flying all the way out to Phoenix where we live now to our wedding day in Iowa he made every effort to work with us and what we envisioned for the most perfect wedding. I still look at our wedding photos everyday and the image he captured I get to relive in each photo and remember the exact feeling I had in that photo. He made a picture more than just another photo. He created a memory that will last an entire lifetime. You can never go wrong when booking with black cap photography! -

Getting to work with Cody twice is the only good thing to come of having two weddings due to COVID. He is so knowledgeable and having his help planning a pandemic wedding was so useful. He has been in this industry so long that there isn’t anything that he hasn’t seen or doesn’t have advice for. He made us way less stressed and always helped out when he could. The value of his package for literally all day coverage can’t be beat. He comes to your rehearsal, gets to meet your family, take pictures of you practicing. It helps your family get comfortable with him and for Cody to work even better with everyone the next day. He will be one of the first people with you the morning of your wedding and one of the last at the end of the night. Capturing all of the priceless moments in between. He has truly become a friend and I wish he photographed things besides weddings so that we can hire him again. His monthly check-ins were helpful and showed he truly cared. He’s so passionate and you get to see it when a shot turns out even better than he expected and it makes you so excited to see how they turned out. He gets you back the pictures way quicker than I would have expected and in a beautiful wood box that we have on display in our house. We have printed so many photos that he has taken, our house have turned into a shrine to Cody. Our families and whole bridal party enjoyed working with him and had so much fun taking pictures. With so many things to plan for the wedding I knew when hiring Cody I wouldn't have to worry about a thing when it came to the photos. Cody was so attentive in the months leading up to the wedding, the week of the wedding, at the rehearsal, and the day of the wedding. Checking in and making sure he had everything he needed months before the wedding made sure that Cody wasn't one of the last minute problems I had to deal with the month, week or even day of the wedding. My husband and I wouldn't consider ourselves experts in front of the camera but Cody made us even forget we were having our pictures taken. My husband and I loved all of our engagement and wedding photos, which is why its great that Cody lets you have all of them for a flat fee. When we looked at other photographers it was disappointing to see that you could only choose a certain amount of photos or have to pay extra for more. Cody lets you have them all. Would I recommend Cody? Without a doubt. I would hire him again in a heartbeat. -

Cody was so accommodating and flexible with everything. He takes great photos and is always up for any new ideas or "vision boards" you may have. He definitely does a great job of still letting you create what you want but giving his insight using his experience of what may elevate or make something better! Could not recommend him enough. We did not know Cody before we randomly found him online and we grew a relationship that turned to a friendship. We still keep in touch, and I would hire him again in a heartbeat! -

I cannot recommend Cody highly enough!! I first met him at a friend's wedding that he was photographing, and I could tell even from that brief interaction that his demeanor was exactly what we wanted for our day. Cody knows how to truly connect with people and he has an amazing eye for capturing the essence of each special moment. Our photos are absolutely breathtaking. Looking at them fills me with happiness and takes me right back to our beautiful, perfect day.
We booked Cody in January 2020 and we were married in August. He was understanding as our plans for venue, guest count, etc. changed multiple times due to the pandemic. We finally chose to have a small backyard ceremony with just our immediate family and wedding party in attendance. In such an intimate setting, it was even more important to have a photographer whose personality was a good fit for us. I am so grateful that Cody was part of our day, not only because we have incredible photos, but also because our wedding would not have been the same without his calming, supportive presence. If you're looking for a photographer who goes above and beyond, Cody is your guy! -

Cody was absolutely amazing from start to finish! He called every couple of months (even though we hired him over two years out) just to check in, see how we were doing, and to make sure we didn’t need anything as we continued our planning. He was always very responsive to any communication and was more than happy to meet with us anytime we felt necessary. He worked with our hectic schedule for any of needs- including shooting out engagement photos in the freezing cold with thousands of people around and you couldn’t even tell. He captured every photo he took perfectly and told our story better than I think any one else could. We still look through our photos and remember every single moment. I truly couldn’t recommend Cody enough for your big day, you won’t be in better hands. -

Words do not suffice!
I haven’t really written any reviews on people or services but I just have to brag on Cody. First of all, if you are a bride that has a lot of anxiety like me, Cody is the perfect photographer. He has such a calm demeanor that instantly being around him, your anxiety decreases. He checks in on you and not just because he feels like he has to, but because he genuinely cares about you and your well being. He works so hard. When I say he works so hard that really is not giving him justice. He is there with you every step of the way. Rehearsal dinner he is there. Setting up the venue he is there (and asking how he can help). 7:00 am getting ready he is there. 10:00 pm at the last dance he is there. Not only is he just there, but he is living it and breathing it with you. He puts his whole heart and soul into making your wedding the most important and most wonderful experience. He listens to your requests and never judges you even if your crazy comes out a little! Not only is he there with you and capturing the moments, but we received our pictures back within 2 weeks! They are breathtaking and every time
I look at them I fall in love with that day and my husband all over again. Cody truly is the most fantastic photographer and for all anxiety filled brides, he will calm the storm.
