Birkby House was the perfect venue for us! I loved the historic charm mixed with the bright, new conservatory. I also loved the convenience of the location and the relationship with Tuskies! Not to mention the beautiful landscaping. It felt like a little oasis right in the middle of downtown Leesburg! The team made us feel so comfortable and was so welcoming throughout the whole planning process. We had a chance of a storm come through during our ceremony, and the team quickly and efficiently made the switch from the outside ceremony to inside the conservatory with an hour til start time. Our pictures turned out so beautifully with the windows and bright lighting! I am so glad that we got married and Birkby and will recommend it to everyone!!! -

The team at The Birkby House gave us the wedding of our dreams! Mother Nature kept us guessing with quick summer rain showers and sun that weekend. The team was so flexible. Carleigh, Neal, and all the staff at Birkby House and Tuskies were fabulous to work with and were exceptionally communicative, which made the entire planning process smooth and stress free. In collaboration with our planner Tara, at Clover Hill Events, the vender team made our wedding day an absolute dream. Our guests could not stop raving about the beautiful grounds, the stunning conservatory and the exceptionally tasty food from Tuskies. Rain or shine, high winds or bright, sunny skies, Birkby House is the perfect location for your wedding day. We cannot thank the team at Birkby House enough for making our wedding day so perfect! -

We had our wedding at Birkby House in April 2024, and it was the perfect venue for our 100-person wedding! From start to finish, the entire process was enjoyable and stress-free, thanks to Carleigh and the incredible team at Birkby House. They were extremely helpful, providing all the necessary information and assisting in coordinating the day’s events seamlessly.
Our wedding weekend was amazing and we wouldn't have changed a thing! Tuskies Catering was delicious, our guests couldn't stop raving about the hors d'oeuvres, and the dinner service was on time and efficient. The venue itself is absolutely gorgeous. We took advantage of the beautiful flowering trees in the courtyard for our wedding portraits, which turned out stunning. The historic house was a perfect place for guests to hang out during cocktail hour, and we didn't have to include many decorations since the house is maintained and decorated tastefully already. The new conservatory is beautiful and was the perfect place for the reception. And of course - continuing the party a few feet away in downtown Leesburg was the icing on the cake! We are so glad we picked Birkby for our wedding! -

I am a floral vendor who has worked with Birkby House frequently over the past several years. The attention to detail, professional service & friendly atmosphere of the Birkby House Staff spills over into the quality of work from your other vendors. These special qualities are only a few of the reasons I recommend Birkby House as your wedding day venue.
As you step into the historical house & curated seasonal gardens, you and your guests are transported out of the modern hustle outside of the grounds. Located in the downtown district of Leesburg, you and your guests will have convenient accommodations & access to everything in Leesburg while remaining in an intimate, historical setting.
The cherry on the cake is the modern & stunning conservatory on the grounds. The structure is unique in its architecture & provides couples with a space that can accommodate their reception and/or the ceremony. I love the spacious & elegant room. It is exciting to add floral decor in this space as it provides a canvas for my particular art of floral design! You can create very unique & interesting "moods" within the conservatory that will have everyone talking.
Again, as a vendor, working at Birkby House is always a pleasure. As a future couple, I guarantee you will be extremely satisfied with your choice if you book Birkby as your wedding day venue!

I cannot say enough good things about Birkby House and the team. We were so luck to happen across this venue and believe we we searched! (12+ locations). We decided on Birkby becuase of the flexibility and kindest of the team from the moment we set up a tour. There were no silly questions or outlandish requests. The team was accommodating and supportive leading up to the event and always responsive. Our wedding day was exceptional and went off without a hitch.
The venue is stunning and worth every penny alone, but when you consider the incredible benefit of being able to get ready on site and the seller accommodations they have for both spouses, plus the variety of spaces and flexibility of event set up and inclement weather options, its a no brainier. They are very generous and flexible with time spent at the venue as well.
I would recommend Birkby to everyone in a heartbeat and wish I could do it all over again.
I do not have many pictures back from our day yet, but have included a few to give a sense of the vibe and scale of event. Fall at Birkby is exquisite.
(For reference we planned for 180, but ended up closer to 160). -

My husband and I got married at the Birkby House in October of 2024 and it was the best day ever! Seriously though! We booked our date in August of 2023, but the communication between Carleigh and Neal was clear and consistent! The food was excellent (all events at Birkby require you to use their caterer, Tuskies), and our guests are still raving about the quality of the food. It was also really nice to have the flexibility to provide our own alcohol and create our own signature cocktails. We would do it all over again! -

Birkby House was the perfect venue for our February 2024 wedding. It is one of the few venues in Loudoun County that paired the colonial charm of downtown Leesburg with a luxurious and glam modern wedding vibe.
The staff are communicative and incredibly helpful; we trusted their guidance and so appreciated their flexibility in making many of our ideas come to life - from moving the ceremony indoors last minute to accommodating our dessert food truck in lieu of a cake. We loved working with Carleigh, Meaghan, and Kristin.
Our favorite part about the venue was the number of natural, unstaged photo opportunities, from the foyer and red room in the manor house, to the carriage house door and the mantle in the conservatory. (note: no need for a photo booth!). Other reasons why we loved this venue include the opportunity to get ready onsite and the incredibly seamless guest flow between the ceremony in the conservatory, cocktail reception at the house, and reception back in the conservatory.
A few things we learned throughout our planning process with Birkby: they had one coat rack for a 150-person winter wedding (hopefully they've found some additional solutions for next season), they do not have any in-house decor, the noise ordinance did not have any impact on the quality of our dance floor, their requirement to hire a day-of coordinator was a BLESSING, and their requirement to work with Tuskies (catering) was a no brainer (food was delicious and Neal was AWESOME to work with).
All-in-all, we are grateful for the Birkby House team and highly recommend Birkby House to all future couples! -

My husband and I can not recommend Birkby House enough. The venue is fantastic! The historic home, landscaping around the courtyard, and new glass atrium reception area are all BEAUTIFUL. We also loved that the cost of the venue included so many things - getting ready onsite, chairs for the ceremony, tables and chairs for the reception, etc. It made planning our wedding less stressful to know we could count on the Birkby House team to manage a lot of the logistics without relying on additional vendors. It was also a no brainer to plan our wedding at Birkby House with Tuskies as their preferred caterer - we love Tuskies! The food was fantastic and Neal, their head of catering, was fantastic to work with. We highly recommend Birkby House! -

We started dating while living in Leesburg and would go on walks through downtown at night. We would sneak peeks at weddings happening at Birkby House while passing by. On our big day we both looked at how amazing everything was and said we couldn't believe it was US this time!! Birkby House provided a beautiful and varied setting for the many events of our wedding day. The setting of the house and grounds was beautiful for our sparkling garden party; guests and the bridal party alike enjoyed both the interior and exterior spaces. Birkby House’s established relationships with a wide variety of local vendors gave us plentiful options during our planning as well as kept every aspect of the day itself running smoothly and professionally. Even though our weather was perfect, Birbky House communicated strong contingency plans that gave us confidence that our wedding would still be beautiful, utilizing the uniqueness of the property in the case of inclement weather. Birkby House is amazing!!! We got married here in September and my MIL was no too impressed with our wedding vision. But she swallowed her words when she finally saw it on the day of. Birkby is perfect because the general ambiance is already romantic regardless of how much or how little you add to it. People are still complementing me on the venue! The bridal suit was also everything we needed and then some. Getting hair and make up for 8 people was super easy and comfortable. -

Birkby House was the most amazing venue for our October wedding. Upon touring the property and speaking with Carleigh, we knew that it would be perfect. Everyone I spoke to was understanding and flexible. They answered all of my questions and updated me about the Covid Restrictions throughout the process. They truly made me feel like our wedding was of the utmost importance and the only event they were hosting.
We held our wedding ceremony at a nearby Catholic Church, so Birkby House was used for our Cocktail Hour & Reception. We were able to get ready at Birkby House in the morning, before heading to the church and upon our arrival everything was setup and ready to go. Cocktail Hour on the patio was a perfect way for our guests to mingle before the tent opened for dinner service. All of our guests had the most amazing time and raved about the food and service from Tuscarora Mill. After the reception ended, some guests walked to Downtown Leesburg and continued the party. Honestly, if I had to do it all again, I wouldn’t change a single thing. Thank you, Birkby House, for making my wedding dreams a reality. -

Birkby House was our perfect setting. We wanted to be able to do the ceremony and reception in one setting. We loved the historic, unique feel of the house and grounds and that it was more convenient than something in DC. Plus Tuscorara Mills does the catering so the food is good.
Unfortunately, we had to change plans last minute due to COVID so we ended up having just the ceremony - but the staff at Birkby were so kind and adapted with us. While it wasn't the wedding we had originally envisioned, thanks to Birkby, it worked out perfectly (given the circumstances). We can't recommend them enough. Thanks! -

The venue: My wedding had about 135 and seemed like the perfect number. For a Nov wedding, Birkby still had trees with leaves that fell late so we still had a variety of fall colors in the backdrop. Birkby has a homey comfortable feeling with the cottage house, gazebo and other garden space, and the reception tent. The tent, with the lights, is so beautiful. When I asked a cousin for wedding pictures, she had about 15 of just the lighting. Good thing we had an actual photographer! The house has several rooms for the cocktail hour for the guestbook, gifts, and other neat hangout spots as well as a pair of restrooms. There are another pair of restrooms by the tent. The upstairs has a bridal and grooms suite. Bridal suite is large and my wife and her ladies loved it. The grooms suite is cozy with a TV, couch, and fridge--all you really need. The 2nd floor also has two porches that look out to the rest of the venue. Great photo ops! Had the viewing with Carleigh--absolutely fantastic and super friendly that we decided to go with her and Kristin (Simply Royal Events) for our wedding coordinators. It felt like a huge advantage having them coordinate since they knew the place inside and out and knew most, if not all, of our vendors. They were quick to respond and adjust to all of our last minute changes and updates. They were all over the place (in the best way possible) from beginning to end as in they had everything organized and made sure people/things were in place and yet were also very available for any questions or comments I or the bride had the day of. The wedding transitions happened so swiftly that I hardly saw any of it happen. Vendors: The Birkby House has an open house every spring and invites their preferred caterer and vendors. Definitely check this out if you are interested in or planning on having an event/wedding at Birkby. There are a lot of local vendors present, some who don't really have the publicity as other vendors that may have hundreds of reviews. For example, we went with local photographers Steve and Bernadette Dalgetty and even though we haven't received the pictures yet, they were such a charm to work with. We did go with their partner caterer Tuskies and that couldn't have gone any better. ALL the food during our wedding was phenomenal from hor d'oeurves to entrees--best wedding food ever (said no one ever but I'm serious, Tuskies was amazing!) Not only was the food great but also Neal was so fun and easy to work with. I truly think the triple threat of Neal, Carleigh, and Kristin was the reason why my wedding went so smoothly or at least appeared like it ran smoothly haha. Misc: Other perks to the venue, there's a large public parking lot behind the venue that is really only used as a commuter lot during the week so it was fully available for guests. It's in downtown Leesburg so it's a great spot to check out a local bar if you come early. But speaking of downtown.. The con: Since the venue is in downtown Leesburg near residents, there was one resident who complained and called the cops multiple times. There's a noise curfew at 10pm which is when the wedding ends anyway but he complained well before 9pm. I'm sure this happens quite often, it has to being in such a residential area, and while it was annoying having to deal with a disgruntled neighbor on your wedding night, the cops really seemed to care less. The cops said as long as the coordinators had the permit (which they did), the noise was fine. -

This is 100% the venue I had envisioned when planning the type of place I wanted to get married but the staff made it even better than imagined. Carleigh was great answering any and all questions about the venue and Neal was so on top of things for catering (and the food actually was amazing!). The getting ready space is SO nice, especially for hair and make-up. I would 100% recommend this place to anyone! -

Every aspect of the Birkby House on my wedding day added to the experience. From the bridal/groom suites, to the historic manner, the gazebo, carriage house, cobblestone, and the magical tent. I had so many guests express how much they loved the venue and how every single detail was noticed. Carleigh was fabulous to work with and always had everything under control. The grounds are stunning, the catering from Tuscarora Mill is incomparable, and Carleigh was a lifesaver throughout the planning process and day of--we could not have had such a wonderful day without her. Whether it is because of the prime downtown Leesburg location, the beautiful, airy bride's room and masculine groom's room, the gorgeous details in the tent including the awesome dance floor, or the wonderful welcoming feel the venue and those who are there to help give off, the Birkby House is the perfect place for any wedding or special day! -

My husband and I got married at the Birkby House. We couldn't have picked a better venue to share this special day with our family and friends. Everything was simply beautiful and our guest loved everything about the Birkby House! I knew that this venue would book up rather quickly especially during the month of September. Therefore we booked a whole year and a half in advance for our big day. I spoke mainly with Carleigh at Birkby House throughout the entire wedding preparation even leading up to the day of our wedding. She was very helpful, reassuring, knowledgeable, and kind when it came to any questions/concerns, tips or even ideas in making sure we had our perfect day! We even had a Birkby staff member that was there from beginning to end the day of our wedding in making sure everything went smoothly. I would highly recommend this venue to any couple looking to tie the knot. The photos/videos alone that our wedding team were able to capture on this property was breathtaking. Thank you Birkby House for giving my husband and I such a Beautiful Wedding! -

AMAZING doesn’t do it justice!
If you’re looking for a wedding venue in Leesburg, LOOK NO FURTHER. Carleigh and the entire Birkby team were amazing to work with. They were incredibly accommodating for our large party and for last minute requests. Our guests are still raving about how gorgeous the grounds were and how they appreciated how Birkby sprayed for mosquitos in the summer :) the bridal suite was gorgeous and fit my large bridal party and four hair/makeup artists comfortably. The tent is just STUNNING. We opted for the cafe lights and I’m so glad we did. The location’s proximity to great bars for after parties is unbeatable. Just blown away by how perfect our day was and it’s all thanks to the gorgeous Birkby House and its incredible staff. -

The first time I toured Birkby House I instantly knew it would be the perfect spot for my garden style brunch wedding. The grounds and the tent are so gorgeous I had to do very minimal decorating, I let the beautiful grounds be my back drop. I can not say enough good things about Carleigh and Kristin as wedding coordinators. Carleigh truly saved the day when my hair and make up lady was two hours late and found someone local to help do makeup for my MOH, Mom, and I, and she did a fantastic job! Kristin was beyond helpful throughout the entire process and so easy to communicate with and ask questions. She made sure my fiance and I had drinks, appetizers, and were comfortable throughout the entire day. She even helped me out of my veil and bustled my dress! She kept everything on track so that we could enjoy each moment we had planned. After the ceremony they were incredibly helpful helping my Mom pack up all of our belongings and get them in the car. These ladies are amazing at what they do and you can tell they just genuinely love it. Its a family business and they are just great people. My guests had a blast and I received so many compliments on how beautiful and classy the wedding venue was. I wish I could relive my wedding day 100x over, and I would do it at Birkby House every time. -

We had an incredible experience using the Birkby House as the venue for our daughter's May, 2019 reception. The coordinators, Carleigh and Kristin, were amazing with their creative/organizational skills, helpful hints and hands on assistance. The biggest advantage of using the Birkby House is use of the entire house as well as the beautiful outdoor grounds, patio and elegantly draped and lighted tent. The wedding party had separate rooms to get ready with enough space for the bridesmaids to comfortably get their hair and make up done while the groomsmen had their own space to get ready and hang out before pictures. The downstairs of the house allows four rooms for the guests to use before they enjoy refreshments on the patio. In addition the balcony overlooking the courtyard is an intimate place for the bride and groom to catch their breath and enjoy viewing the guests.
I can't say enough how wonderful it was to be at the Birkby. It felt like hosting a reception in our own historic manor and garden. As parents of the bride, we had nothing to think about other than just to enjoy ourselves. It truly was a magical night! -

We fell in love with this venue when we first visited. It's romantic, charming and beautiful. At night, the bushes and trees twinkle with lights and lanterns line the pathways. I could have spend the entire beginning outside. The tent was simply classic. The staff at Birkby House went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. They made us feel calm and relaxed and had great suggestions for everything from food to placement of decorations. The caterers they work with are amazing and well-known in the area. You can tell everyone who you work with cares about the job they're doing. I would choose Birkby House over and over and I highly recommend it for any occasion.Birkby House's reply:

Birkby House was such a charming place to get married! We loved not only the venue, but also the staff! Carleigh made getting ready for the wedding a breeze and was great at responding quickly. My husband and I got married this past weekend and Birkby was the absolute perfect venue which fit all of our needs. We were able to get ready separately with our bridesmaids and groomsmen in the beautiful upstairs rooms of the house, have our ceremony in front of the carriage house, and party it up in the gorgeous tent. Our friends couldn't stop gushing about the beautiful space, too! Being located in downtown Leesburg means hotels and bars are not too far away. Everything about the venue was turnkey, so picking Birkby House was one of the best decisions we made in planning our wedding. If you love good food, Birkby works with some of the best caterers in the Loudoun County area (Tuscarora Mills and Magnolias). Carleigh was also a pleasure to work with and responded very quickly to all of my requests through email. She checked in on us throughout the day of the wedding and helped make sure everything was going smoothly - she is so laid back! Our pictures are so beautiful with the house as a perfect backdrop. Beautiful, accommodating, easy to work with
My husband and I got married at Birkby on October 6, 2018. We worked closely with Carleigh and Kristin to book the Birkby and then decided to use their planning help as well through Simply Royal. Birkby was the perfect choice for our wedding, and Carleigh and Kristin were amazing to work with. They were caring, helpful, and anticipated our questions. They were also able to draw on their experience with vendors around town to make recommendations which was super helpful. On the day of, the Birkby was clean, there were beautiful fall decorations outside, and Carleigh and Kristin were so helpful with coordinating all of our vendors and the events of the day. They made sure we had everything we needed and really felt like friends through the whole process. I can't say enough about how much we loved our whole experience - the Birkby was a beautiful backdrop for our day and Carleigh and Kristin were fantastic. Thank you both so much!!! -

They completely understood the vision for our wedding and they truly made our dreams come true on our wedding day! They are so personable and laid back and we have had several people in these last couple of days tell us our wedding was one of the most fun and beautiful weddings that they have been to. We HIGHLY recommend the Birkby House for any wedding! -

Lucia Sent on 02/10/2018Birkby was the most amazing venue that my husband and I could have ever asked for! They were flexible when our wedding weather dropped by 30 degrees. We also used Simply Royal Events who helped us design and decorate Birkby and give us a vision that we did not know we had for our wedding. I can not say enough good things about this venue and our event planning Team Simply Royal Events. They took the stress out of the entire wedding process. We knew that at the end of the day we were going to have the most beautiful venue and the most amazing team helping us along the way. I didn't even want a big wedding, but now I wish that we could get married every year because of how wonderful Bikrby and Simply Royal Events were. Thank you so much for everything!! Mallory Sent on 11/12/2017Thomas Birkby House was the most wonderful venue for my wedding day. From the day we toured the space, I knew this was the place where I would marry my best friend. The bridal suite is spacious and bright and there is even a space for the groom and his groomsmen (which was important to my now husband).
It had started to rain just before my ceremony; the tent in the back was easily transformed to the ceremony space and then quickly turned back into the dinner reception while the guests were in the historic home enjoying cocktail hour.
If you are looking for a warm, timeless, intimate space, do not hesitate to check out the Thomas Birkby House.
I used the dynamic duo of Carleigh and Kristin with Simply Royal Events as my Day of Coordinators, and they hit it out of the park! I trusted them fully with my vision and they executed it perfectly. There is not a single thing I would have done differently. They took the time to respond to all my emails quickly, ease all my fears, and even act on my behalf with my other vendors. After all the time spent with them, these ladies felt like family to me. Highly, highly, highly recommend. -

Ashley Sent on 01/03/2014If you are looking for a great place to have your wedding outdoors, Thomas Birkby is the place! My husband and I knew we wanted an outdoor ceremony and had looked at multiple venues in the NOVA area. We originally had our hearts set on Bluemont Vineyard but knew it was out of our price range. However, after visiting TBH we completely changed our minds and knew on the ride home that we wanted to get married there. If you have a budget, TBH is definately the bang for your buck!
The combo of indoor/outdoor space suited us nicely on our big day. It was sweltering in the 90s and most of guests piled into TBH prior to the ceremony, it was a life saver. Also the bridal suite is really big compared to the other venues i visited and I was very glad to have the extra space.
Judy and her husband are relatively easy to work with. We had a slight issue with our contracting time and I was worried but the issue was easily compromised and worked out to our benefit. Judy and her husband even allowed us to show up early and host our rehearsal the night before since the venue was not booked.
Overall, i was extremely pleased with TBH and its owners. They were very accomadating and it really seems they enjoy every couple that passes through their doors. I would get married there again in a heartbeat.
Side note 1: In the TBH info packet it lists that you can have 150, im sure you can but we had approximately 100 and i felt like our tent was pretty packed, if you plan to have a big wedding (and its sweltering out) i would probably look for another venue.
Side note 2: If you do decide to go with TBH just know they have a preferred vendor list for certain categories. At first this annoyed me, but in the end i was very grateful for that list and i dont know what i wouldve done without it. I would not have ever tried my caterer if it wasnt for their list :)
