  Incredible Day!!

  Trish and the team at Birchwoods made our wedding day spectacular! The venue is gorgeous inside and outside and with so many packages and add ons you can make the day as extravagant or low key as you like. The pricing is reasonable and Trish is wonderful to work with. She is very responsive and truly listened to us when we talked about our day. The food was delicious, the decorations were perfect, and the bridal suite is beautiful. We had our ceremony at a church and then came here for cocktail hour, dinner, and dancing. We could not have imagined a more incredible day!

  Viewed venue twice!

  *Full disclosure-I visited (twice) for a potential wedding venue only*
  
  We met PJ at the Hartford Bridal Expo and he was awesome! He gave us so much info and wasn't rushing us away to talk to the other hundreds of people that were there. We told him we were looking for the Thursday before Good Friday, so most guests would already have a long weekend AND we could take advantage of the great Thursday off-peak pricing we've been seeing. PJ was so excited to hear this and started explaining all of the details of the fabulous Thursday packages they were offering at Birchwoods! This package included a cake, a photo booth, a DJ, AND A PHOTOGRAPHER, all for a reasonable price per person!!! After hearing this, we looked at pictures and immediately made an appointment to go visit the venue the following weekend.
  
  I was so impressed with the venue! The decorations are gorgeous, from the second you open the front door to the hallway to the bridal suite to the room you'd have your reception in, which happened to be set up for a wedding that was happening that evening.
  
  We also met Trish during our first visit, and she was also friendly and explaining any and everything we had questions or comments about. She was pointing out all of the decorations that are theirs, which are available for you to use for your big day to save money! PJ had told us at the expo that you can use whatever they have, from centerpieces, to table numbers to card boxes to the Mr. and Mrs. signs for the sweetheart table, all things available to you that you have to provide at many venues.
  
  Now, while we ultimately didn't choose this venue because we found another place where we could have our ceremony outside, rain or shine, Birchwoods ABSOLUTELY had my favorite bridal suite! This was the only one I saw with big gorgeous windows, which would've been great for pics while getting ready, as well as for natural light to come in while getting hair and makeup done! There was also a grooms suite in the basement, which most places don't have! So, they definitely had some great features that not many places had, and it's a place you should check out if you're looking for a venue with a lot of great features, and a reasonable price!
  
  Omg, I forgot to mention something else I loved! The ladies room! Bizarre, right? But this is the only place I saw that didn't have those tiny little stalls where you practically have to straddle the toilet for the door to swing in so you can close and lock it. I swear, between the ladies room and bridal suite I was a huge fan! Those were two things they had that beat the others, hands down!

  Most Amazing Wedding Day Thanks to Birchwoods

  Birchwoods is such a beautiful venue and the way they coordinated my wedding was so organized. i could not ask for anything better. Their service is amazing from the owner, to the bar, to the waiting staff, to the maître d. They decorated my wedding so amazing and the staff is so nice and helpful. I don't know what else to say but that they were immaculate and I had the most amazing wedding day I could ever ask for.

  Amazing!!!

  Trish and her staff were on top of everything. I did not need to worry about anything but myself on our wedding day. The food was beyond delicious. All of our guests are still talking about how our wedding was one of the best they have been to in such a long time. From the beautiful scenery to the decor, every thing was perfect. The waitstaff was great. Made sure everyone was taken care of. Highly recommended if you are planning your upcoming wedding. It was by far one of the best choices we have made.

  Trish and the entire Birchwoods team was beyond incredible. Every meeting was wonderful, listened to what we wanted and kept up with our changes throughout planning. This venue has it all! We did a package and some add-ons that included the ceremony, cocktail hour, plated meal service with top shelf open bar, the DJ, photographer and wedding cake plus a dessert set up with pies, donuts and hot apple cider along with an coffee bar. The venue itself is beautiful, the golf course made a gorgeous backdrop for pictures and overall esthetic. 5 stars across the board!!!

  Wonderfully attentive and professional

  Trish and the rest of the Birchwoods staff went above and beyond to make our day perfect- from setting up all of our decor, to meeting all of our dietary needs, to constantly having a drink or appetizer available to us even when we were taking pictures, they knew exactly how to make our day go smoothly even with two brides and our crazy blended families! They did everything they could to put our minds at ease and make our day feel important and special. We have nothing but positive things to say and would hire them again in a minute. You will NOT regret having your event at Birchwoods.

  SUCH a perfect day!!!

  I attended my daughter's wedding reception here in November and Birchwoods is truly the best ever. I've been to many a reception in my time and this was easily at the top. The location is gorgeous with the sunset view and rolling hills of the golf course, so perfect for pictures, and the food was amazing! Not your typical wedding fare. You can tell a lot of care went into the taste and presentation of every dish, whether appetizer or entree. Trish was an absolute angel to work with, so accommodating and professional, and the staff was attentive and friendly and very helpful with anything we needed. I loved the layout of the whole place whether it be the ballroom, bridal suite, access to outdoors, even the bathrooms: it was a comfortable yet elegant setting and easily accessible. I truly can't put into words just how EASY the whole experience was and how happy they made our family, friends, and especially my daughter on her big day.

  Dream Wedding

  The staff at Birchwoods made our dream wedding into a reality. The pricing is more than reasonable and you get the personal touch of feeling like you are the only couple they are working with. Response time with questions from Trish was prompt and incredibly helpful and she made planning, decor, food, drink, and accomodations so easy. We had so many compliments on the food and overall feel of the venue and our wedding surpassed our expectations. Thank you for making our wedding the best day ever!

  Amazing Venue and Amazing People

  Picking a venue was one of the hardest decisions we had to make and that is because we liked EVERY venue we looked at. We even booked a venue prior to booking Birchwoods but realized we were not IN LOVE with it. We were at a loss and figured we’d just keep touring and so we did. We met with Trish at Birchwoods in October 2019 and signed the contract THAT SAME DAY. I don’t know if it was Trish or the venue that sold us (probably both) but we were HOOKED. The excitement set in, because when you know, you know! Birchwoods is set on a golf course which we never thought would be our style but the grounds were beautiful. The ballroom and inside were completely stunning. The vibe is rustic but not too rustic like a barn. It was the perfect blend of rustic, elegant and simple. Trish has TONS of décor in her closet and allows you to use all of it which totally cuts cost as far as centerpieces, décor and also allows you to get ideas of what you might like! Working with Trish was so easy and pleasant, which made the process of postponing and picking a plan B date due to COVID very smooth. After hearing horror stories from other brides, I was so thankful that our venue was one of the good ones. We moved our date, stayed in touch and just stayed in contact. Our tasting finally came and it became real. All of my food allergies were accommodated and we set up our final meeting. We upgraded our package, met with Trish, gave our final payment, finalized our centerpieces, discussed décor and drop off and when our wedding day came, it was beyond what we even hoped for and expected. Trish and her team really outdid themselves. It was down pouring so we could not use the outdoor space for cocktail hour but she accommodated us downstairs. The Ballroom was stunning. Everything was done better than I could have imagined. All of the staff were so friendly, so fun and attentive. Our matre’d’s were amazing and none of us can stop talking about how amazing the venue was, how amazing the food was, how amazing the staff was, just EVERYTHING. I’m so thankful we chose Birchwoods for our wedding venue. I’m so thankful to have met Trish and worked with her. Birchwoods is affordable, elegant, and really just perfect.

  Best Wedding Venue

  Trish and the staff were so welcoming and accommodating. I highly recommend booking your wedding at Birchwoods. The food was delicious and the view was lovely.

  Highly Recommend!

  Birchwoods is amazing! The ballroom has beautiful tall glass windows, the new deck was a hit with our guests who wanted some fresh air during the night, and the outdoor area is large with a really nice view that was perfect for cocktail hour and pictures. We also received so many compliments on the food which was delicious and the service was great! Trish (And PJ!) is absolutely amazing and really helped make our day special and everything we could have wanted. She was always so friendly and was quick to respond when we had questions. She also has a huge collection of decorations (basically anything you could possibly need) that she let us use and she decorated everything so beautifully! We couldn’t have been happier with our experience and are glad we chose Birchwoods!!

  So beautiful and so reasonable

  I attended a wedding here on March 30th and I have to say, I was blown away. The place is absolutely beautiful and the food was great. The bride told me all about how reasonable the prices were and how much was included with the packages. I loved the set up of the venue and how there are three different locations for ceremony, cocktail hour and reception which were all very roomy.

  Most amazing venue

  We booked at birchwoods after looking at a few places. Everything from the planning, communication, cocktail hour, coordinations with vendors was amazing. The food was also amazing!!! Everyone is raving about the cocktail hour, the green goddess dressing on the salad, the entrees. I cannot emphasize enough how great this venue is!!!

  Above and Beyond!

  Trish and everyone at the Birchwoods truly went above and beyond to make our wedding experience absolutely incredible!
  
  We had a difficult time finding a venue that provided a high quality experience in an intimate setting for a fair price- we looked all over NY and CT until we found The Birchwoods! The grounds are beautiful and the venue itself has everything you need for the event (including a variety of wedding decor!). The packages are customizable to ensure your wedding is exactly how you imagine it. Trish was amazing to work with and went out of her way to accommodate our requests. I truly felt that her first priority was always to help us have the wedding of our dreams, never to nickel and dime us or sneak in hidden charges. Especially with uncertainties of COVID, she was always willing to work with us and ensure our wedding was perfect.
  
  On our big day, everything went off without a hitch. The venue was decorated beautifully and the food was amazing. We had full use of the entire venue (which I highly recommend!) and had our ceremony in the garden, cocktail hour outdoors on the patio, and reception in the ballroom upstairs. There was also a back up indoor ceremony site if the weather did not cooperate (which put my mind at ease). Our guests enjoyed the bee deck off the ballroom to get some air during the reception as well. Having only one wedding at a time makes a significant difference on the overall experience.
  
  Overall, the Birchwoods is an exceptional venue and I could not have been happier to have had them host my wedding.

We had full use of the entire venue (which I highly recommend!) and had our ceremony in the garden, cocktail hour outdoors on the patio, and reception in the ballroom upstairs. There was also a back up indoor ceremony site if the weather did not cooperate (which put my mind at ease). Our guests enjoyed the bee deck off the ballroom to get some air during the reception as well. Having only one wedding at a time makes a significant difference on the overall experience.
  
  Overall, the Birchwoods is an exceptional venue and I could not have been happier to have had them host my wedding.

  Overall exceptional!

  Everything about our wedding was perfect! We looked at several venues, but we knew immediately that Birchwoods at Oak Lane was the right place for us. The location is very convenient to New Haven, but the grounds and area near the venue are wooded and calm. We even saw a family of deer one day on the golf course. The food was phenomenal during the reception and the venue looked stunning. Trish, the woman who runs the venue, was incredibly easy to work with and she checked in on myself and my husband throughout the night to make sure we have food, water, and drinks. She coordinated with all our other vendors to make the process as seamless and worry-free as possible. We had so much fun at our wedding reception and our guests had a blast, too! Trish and her team are very professional. We highly recommend this venue!

  I can not express how happy I am that we had our wedding at Birchwoods. The banquet facility is on the grounds of Oaklane golf course with beautiful birchwoods trees which made a beautiful backdrop for our October wedding. The banquet rooms are inviting and elegant and recently remodeled. The staff was professional and courteous and the food was amazing. You will have such a hard time picking out your menu because everything we tried was delish. I can not say enough good things about the banquet manager Trish, she is so welcoming and attentive and will put any brides stress at ease. Those cookie cutter wedding venues are just not me and if you want a more intimate and welcoming venue then this is it. It truly was a perfect day I am so happy we got married here. You will not be disappointed.

  We loved our wedding! Our coordinator Trish was so sweet, and really supportive of our nontraditional ideas (like popsicles as a late night snack!). We felt like the whole team really cared about us and our day. It was also incredibly affordable, by far the best deal I found, especially for a large wedding. The venue is gorgeous, and also accessible for our limited mobility guests. They allowed us on site three hours prior to do first look and photos, and they only host one wedding per day so we weren't worried about rushing. My family is still raving about what a fun and elegant but relaxed night it was! I'm so grateful to the Birchwoods!! My only tip is to keep it to 160 guests, any larger and the dance floor would be tight. And skip the carving station if you do a buffet with more than 100 guests, or the line will be long.

My father is disabled, so having space in the ballroom for him to sit comfortably and move around in a wheel chair was very important to us. They accommodated this without any issue, allowing us to adjust the layout of the room. Trish was so helpful and calming. She made sure everything was taken care of, just exactly how we wanted it. They set up all of our center pieces, and carefully took them down at the end of the night. They helped us brainstorm solutions to problematic guests, and kept us on schedule the day of. Trish's positive attitude was so helpful in the days leading up, when a bride's stress levels can be at an all-time high; she made sure we knew the plan for the day, made adjustments as necessary, and, on the day of, made sure we ate and had everything we needed.
  
  The staff of Birchwoods, are also wonderful people. They asked how everything was going and made sure to keep the room clean and tend to our guests. When I had a tiny detail I wanted to change, they did so without any issue. Truly, we did not have to worry about a thing. Also, the food was fantastic! Many guests were raving about how delicious the beef and chicken dishes were. People even took home their left overs!
  
  Our wedding was everything we wanted it to be, which was in large part due to the venue we chose. They took care of so many things, leaving us, our bridal party, parents, and guests, able to enjoy and celebrate.   Beautiful venue

  Loved birchwoods.. had a great experience up until actual day of wedding, bartender was rude to all of the guests, loved working with Trish the manager but felt she wasn’t as nice the day of so was a little thrown off by that. Otherwise food was great and a beautiful venue

  Not my perfect day

  We had our wedding ceremony and reception at Birchwoods. Trish is very easy to work with and very accommodating with letting you borrow/ use what they have. She also allowed us to bring things in, like sweets for our candy bar favors. We were a little unhappy with the service some guests and vendors told us they received. Not getting their meal and having to asked for it, or getting cold/ inedible food. Several guests said the fish (that was the most amazing fish my husband said he has ever eaten after our tasting) was terrible and most sent it back. We were also unsatisfied with how some things were set up and packed at the end of the day. It appears to us that not much care or thought was put into it. Something as small as packaging up the top tier of our cake, it was done carelessly and was destroyed. Our custom cake topper was not wrapped at all, no care was put into putting it away (didn’t even wipe the frosting off) and was badly broken. We are very disappointed in how the day was run. We were under the impression both Trish and Amy would be running the day together but instead Amy was working in the restaurant separate from our event. The entire day was not pushed along and run as it needed to be/ should have been. There was a SEVERE lack of communication. I am told that members of the wedding party and vendors could not find Trish multiple times throughout the day. We even had an entire FRONT row empty at the ceremony (you can see the empty row in our photos and video) but people standing. A few people told me that they were told to leave these seats empty/ they could not sit there, we have no idea why that row was left empty. I also personally find it unethical and a conflict of interest that Russell’s photography is listed as a preferred vendor though Trish refers to Danielle (the owner of Russell’s) as her sister it was never disclosed to us that Danielle is also listed with the Connecticut Secretary of State as a part owner.
